You know, thinking about episode 7 of Arcane a bit, the usual theory suspect is that Powder figured out that Ekko wasn't from that universe around the time they were building the machine with the Hextech (or maybe even before, like around the time Ekko asked how Vi died) but what if that is actually the reason why she wanted to 'make an entrance' to the party and afterwards understood why Ekko didn't went for the kiss the first time? like since she knew that Ekko wasn't from her universe she wanted for him to relive the memories with her like it was the first time they fell in love. That being the main reason why Powder went with it when Ekko asked her to 'pretend like it's the first time' when they kissed

World Wizard Entertainment Final: FUCKING TROUBLE

Well folks, this is it. The final.

We've lost some good wizards along the way. Also some evil ones. Probably some neutral ones as well, I dunno, this wasn't the alignment quiz. We've campaigned, cat-fought, and cried crocodile tears for who was the most wizard, who was the strongest wizard, and sometimes, who just made the funniest argument.

And in this last round, we've had to say goodbye—for now, but not forever—to our champion, our guiding star, our last hope....

But do you know what? It's what she and her huge, wizardly knockers (and, maybe, somehow, also Cerrit's roguely big naturals?) would've wanted. Her boy, Caleb Widogast, in the final round, up against the Calamity's dearest heart of hearts, Laerryn Coramar-Seelie.

i wonder what would have happened if vi didn't say anything at all.

because in this moment vi reaffirms that 1) she doesn't understand who jinx is and 2) essentially tells her — indirectly (but unintentionally) — that she cannot accept who she has become because she keeps calling her powder. to me, the line feels like the final "nail in the coffin" for the disparity between jinx and vi, so it stems the "i thought, maybe you could love me like i used to. even though i'm different" lines.

so, if vi said nothing...could it have worked out a little better? they would still have a lot to work out, but, maybe jinx's wouldn't have blown up the council 😭😭💀

I mentioned my Master Kohga's father in tags on another post, so now this post is my headcanons about how succession to the position of Master works in the Yiga Clan.

The short answer is, it's inherited, but it isn't automatic/doesn't have to be.

The Clan is not a monarchy (ewww, they would say!), and while they do have great "allegiance to their Master" according to Creating a Champion, the Master isn't thought of as a ruler. (I also do not hc that the Yiga are a "cult," and mine are certainly not a cult where they worship Master Kohga (either the specific guy in AoC/BotW/TotK or the "Master" as a concept/post held by many.)) They absolutely do not believe in a divine right to rule (that's stupid annoying Hylian nonsense and one of the things they rebelled against in the first place), and they also don't think that simply because a person is the scion of the particular bloodline/family that currently holds the Master position, they must necessarily be the best candidate for the job. I dunno, I just really don't think that a group that formed in opposition to an oppressive monarchy that betrayed them would keep a family in power forever in a similar monarchical system just because they're that family, or would let someone keep the position indefinitely if that person was genuinely horrifyingly bad at the job.

That said, the Master also can't be said to truly be a "first among equals" or "democratic"-type position. The Clan does treat its Masters special. They follow them, they protect them especially, they'll do their bidding loyally according to each leader's personal style (some like to be pampered--*coughcurrentKohgacough*--while others are more austere--currentKohga's father's mother's father for example). A Master Kohga expects orders to be followed. They ("Master" is a gender-neutral term and position) have a Right Hand and certainly take advice from others within the Clan, but ultimately they hold the final say on things, with all the power and all the responsibility that entails. Basically, what the Master says, goes.

Until it doesn't.

But I'm getting ahead of myself, ha! Better go back to the "usually inherited, but isn't automatic" part, because this post is about succession headcanons!

So, there typically will be a presumptive "heir" to the position and name of Master Kohga, and it is usually the current Master's first child. However, a subsequent kiddo might distinguish themself in a leadership/martial prowess/etc.kind of way and surpass their sibling into the heirship. If the Master doesn't have a child yet, the presumptive heir might be a sibling or other close relation. "Child" includes adopted kids, too, if that isn't obvious. Yiga children are raised communally, and it's considered a huge honor (/understatement of the century) if the Master thinks your kid is amazing enough to officially adopt and train to take over. A Master may also consider their Right Hand their heir. Nevertheless, traditionally it's the Master's first child, and barring one of these more unusual circumstances (and others I could go on listing--keep in mind the Clan has existed for 10,000 years), that's who'll be getting raised and trained up to take the position eventually.

Still, unlike with Hyrule's monarchy (and arguably most Earth monarchies), the Master position doesn't immediately pass to the heir upon the previous Master's death. As I said, there isn't some magical divine spark or quality that the Yiga believe transfers from one Master to the next. Instead, there is an interim period during which the Clan prepares for and holds funerary rites for the old Master and the heir...undertakes several trials and rituals to prove their worthiness for the position.

These include multiple types of challenges from hardcore meditation (as in, no food or water, very ascetic like the old Sheikah monks trained), to arcane skill demonstrations, to a trek up through the Highlands to retrieve a hidden object (somewhat similar to Blademaster candidates' journey to place bananas at the frog statues), to successfully leading a stealth raid on a Gerudo or Hylian settlement, to...well the big showy one is slaying a Molduga solo. That's the final test, a literal and symbolic showing that the heir is capable of protecting the Clan from even the biggest of natural threats. So, with all of that, it's not completely a given that the heir will succeed at becoming Master! Most do. They're raised for it, as I said. But they're not just handed the leadership role because they're a very special baby, like Hylian monarchs and nobles are. They earn it. Ultimately, what all of the tests show is that the heir is willing to go to great lengths of various types for the Clan--the underlying message beyond the shows of strength, fortitude and skill is "I do this because I am dedicated to all of you."

Once all those trials are complete, the now fully-realized heir is tattooed with a giant, red Inverted Eye on their back. (The upper "teardrop" starts at the base of the neck and from there the Eye spreads across the shoulders and back--it's big. And while most Yiga will have the Eye tattooed somewhere on their person, only the Master can have it, or any other tattoo for that matter, in red.) Their new mask is crafted, and unlike all other Yiga masks that are purely smoothed-down wood, the Master's mask has a thin overlay of bone--from the Molduga they defeated. Following that, there's an Ascension ceremony during which the title of Master and name of Kohga are officially conferred.

That's how it was with the current Master Kohga; his father was Master, he was the heir and (briefly) the Right Hand, he received all kinds of special training starting in childhood in addition to the usual martial arts stuff most Yiga learn, he completed all the trials, and he ascended to the position upon his dad's death just as expected. He "inherited the name Kohga" as stated in Creating a Champion, just like his father, grandmother, great-grandfather, and every other Master back to the very first Chief.*

Anyway, next for the "what the Master says goes until it doesn't" part I was cryptic about at the start of the post. You might think the kind of system I've described where the "heir" isn't always a Master's first child and that first child can be replaced etc., would cause just as much resentment and strife as a monarchy (I mean think of how many kings assassinated heirs to take their places irl). But again, the Clan is not a monarchy and they in fact have a formal method for those who want to assert a claim to the Master position against the heir.

As a culture, the Clan tends to be very much about maintaining internal peace because it's them against the whole rest of the world basically. So while sure, we see individual members in the games (TotK especially) complaining and having rivalries and being a lil' bitchy, ultimately they're quite cohesive and "ride or die" with each other and the group as a whole. So since the idea is to have a Master who will take care of and lead the Clan, a first child who'd rather do something else or who's a total klutz with a weapon is in most cases unlikely to be vendetta-level mad if their parent chooses their sibling as the heir. The fact that the heir doesn't have to be the Master's child at all also takes care of situations where a Master dies and their kid is still...a kid. A sibling to the deceased Master can step in and take the position, or someone else entirely can...okay here's the procedure.

The heir and even the Master can be Challenged.

Most instances of this happening occur in the above scenario: the old Master's chosen heir is still a child, and there's a sort of stylized "challenge" where that other relative or the Right Hand or someone else the Clan would agree is better than a literal ten-year-old (or whatever) to lead, declares their intent to take the tests instead and ascend to become Master. Less frequently, it can occur where the chosen heir is of-age but can't complete the requisite tests and someone else steps forward who can.

Least frequently, because as previously stated the Clan is pretty harmonious internally and generally loves its heirs and trusts its Masters' judgment, someone can Challenge the heir by attempting to undertake the tests as well. If both succeed, they will then battle it out. Not to the death! But to the defeat.

Similarly, at any time, anyone can attempt to Challenge a Master. This is incredibly rare, even across a history of 10,000 years. The Yiga are very loyal to their Masters! I was being clickbait-y with that ominous sentence before my readmore cut! However, they have the Challenge as a failsafe procedure for when a Master is, let us say...really shit at it. Acting like an utterly abusive despot, completely shirking all responsibility, repeatedly and unnecessarily/stupidly getting a lot of Clan members killed, that kind of thing. Generally a complete failure to the spirit of being a Master. The Challenge in that case consists not only of a battle, but also of a referendum in which all Clan members (anonymously) vote. If the challenger wins, they'll still have to undertake the trials to become Master. As I said, this is like, vanishingly uncommon, especially in more recent times.

For all that they're a bunch of shadowy assassins, the Clan prefers a peaceful transition of power because that kind of cohesion keeps them safest. The current Kohga's bloodline through his father has held the Master position for 800 years (keep in mind though, Sheikah-blooded folk live a long time), and his bloodline through his mother held it for several hundred before that. Still and all, every individual Master accepted the risk of the trials and the responsibility of the position. They've all been considered special, and been adored and waited on and obeyed by their Clan, but they all...

Well, one of our dear Best Guy Master Kohga's clearest, most impacting memories from his childhood is his Nana's final words to him and his father, on her deathbed:

"Go, and be Masters, my children. They will serve you, and they will love you, if you will serve them, and love them, and lead them."

As much as Kohga is theatrical, and hugely self-confident with a moon-sized ego, and loves napping and delegating chores...even with all of that window-dressing type sillygoofy personality stuff... He does care deeply for his Clan and his allegiance to everyone in it is just as great as their allegiance to him. As we see in AoC, when things get serious he will put his life on the line for them.

Just as expected of any great Master Kohga.

And he is certainly beloved for it.

You had the box secured in a pocket of your pants, hidden from the eyes of anyone, the whiskey bottle on the other hand was still sticking out a little. A bang echoed through the sewer tunnels as you came to the hideout entrance. When it was left unanswered for a few moments, you secured your hoverboard on your back and pressed into the round rock. With a lot of effort it finally moved and you slipped in before the stone could squish you as it rolled back into it's place.

You looked around, taking note of anyone who was present and what they were doing. Ekko was nowhere to be seen, which was probably a good thing in that moment. Your hoverboard stayed on your back and you walked up the stairs leading around the tree, through the interrogation room's balcony and to you own room. The doors flung open and you went inside, locking them behind you. You took the box with shimmer vials out of your pocket and luckily, it was undamaged. One of your desk's drawers became its hiding place, in hopes that noone exept you ever needed to open it.

You left your room and flew down towards the ground, looking for something to do, maybe play tag with the kids and practice your new skill? Or ask Scar for a fighting training? Actually, where was he? And where was Ekko? And some more of the older members. Your eyes set on two kids sitting nearby, giggling at something.

"Hey, do yall know where everyone is?"

You waved and flew over to them, hopping off your board and letting it lay on the ground.

"They're taking down a shimmer shipment, hopefully they'll all be back before dark."

You nodded and left the kids to be, promising that if they wanted to, you could all play something. Alright, the punching bag it is. It was a little while since you've practised with it, so it wouldn't hurt. You drew a few deep breaths and bore your eyes into in, clenching your palms into fists and beginning to lay a punch after punch. Your feet moved with the direction of the bag, stepping aside and imagining it was Silco who you were hitting. Your blows begun to get increasingly stronger and sweat started to trickle down your face.

Shallow breath forced you to take a break. You started to slowly pace around the bag and wipe sweat off your face, noticing you have a little audience consisting of three kids, the two you talked to before and Scar's oldest daughter. They sat on the ground a few meters away and when they saw that you stopped, they ran over to you.

"[Reader]! We're hungry and everyone's out doing something, can you make us something to eat?"

You eyes widened at their request and Scar's daughter started dragging you to the kitchen.

"Me? I mean, I can try, but no promises okay?"

"We'll help you!"

"Okay, what do yall want to eat?"

"Uhhhhh, I dunno, what can we have?"

"I've got no idea, okay, let's see what's round here and think of something."

You opened a cabinet and looked around, there was an opened bag of rice, few potatoes and various other ingredients. However your eyes had a certain target, you reached in and pulled out a jar filled with noodles.

"Do yall want vegetable noodles? I should be able to cook that."

"Sure! We'll go get the vegetables!"

The two kids you talked to earlier scurried off and Scar's daughter stayed with you.

The two of you started to cook the noodles while the other kids chopped few vegetables. You handed Scar's daughter a spatula and sat her on the counter, letting her mix the noodles while you prepared a pan for the chopped up vegetables.

"While we're at it, how about we prepare food for everyone so they have something to eat when they get back?"

"Okay!"

The two ran to get more vegetables and you looked around for any spices to add to the mix, while keeping one eye on the boiling noodles.

First Ship Ever: I wasn't a shipper when I was a kid tbh. I started to ship fictional characters when I was like.... um... in middle school?

Anyway my first ship was Snape x Lily, since yeah, I was a huge Potterhead back then(nowadays, not so much, ever since I found out the author was transphobic. I still adore the books tho)

Last Song You Heard: Arcane- To Ashes and Blood(I'm listening to all Arcane ost songs and Hazbin/Helluva boss songs lately)

I just love listening to lyrics in songs and imagining scenes for my future animations(if they are vivid enough I just leave them in messy storyboard form so I can use the idea when I go to an animation uni)

Favorite Childhood Book: I liked books with animals. LOTS AND LOTS OF ANIMALS(and I still do. Makes sense since I'm both a furry and a therian)

I can't choose one, but some of the books I loved are Warriors, Watership Down, Harry Potter, Wimpy Kid, Wings of Fire, Redwall... etc

Currently Reading: The Hunger Games. That book is a fucking masterpiece. Highly recommend.

Currently Consuming: Just random Korean dishes(banchan) that my mom and grandma made, as well as rice. Can't live without rice.

Currently Craving: Malatang. It's originally a Chinese dish, but there's a Korean x Chinese fusion version that teens and young adults in Korea really like. It's really filling and warms you up on a cold winter day. (too bad it's expensive for a highschooler to afford or I'd have eaten it every day lol)

Four Ships:

(Possible spoilers for the media each ship is from)

—–- Singed + Silco (Arcane): I'm actually so new to this ship, but my brain suddenly decided to hyperfixate on Singed, and Silco was already one of my favorites too, so just... dubiously united villain couple hello??

The fan fics I've read of them so far are delicious as fuck, and the artwork I've seen is juuuust amazing. Wholesome stuff, dark stuff. I love it all.

And I love the idea of Powder occasionally interacting with Singed, and like he's not really her dad (he's Viktor's heh), but he's still a second wise adult figure in her life, and he uses his thorough understanding of what makes Silco tick to help Powder with communicating with him (or hiding certain little things from him huehue).

Singed is the only character that Silco is never once seen so much as manipulating, let alone intimidating or threatening. I like to think Silco knows that Singed is kind of in a league of his own, and that if he tried to boss him around in the wrong way, Singed could very easily end him in his sleep. Or worse. :3

Though I don't think they hold any animosity towards each other. I don't see it as a very tense relationship. If anything, I like to imagine that they care about each other in some sort of way. Sure, it's partially because Silco provides the space, funds, and test subjects while Singed provides vital medical help and, well, Shimmer. But I'm a sap, so maybe there's a slight bit more there, I dunno!

—–- Misaka + Kuroko (A Certain Scientific Railgun): Listen. Surgically remove Kuroko's... egh, Problem. And you have an utterly gorgeous relationship.

OR, at the very least, actually do something with her obsessive nature! Tell a real story with it. I literally went through a similar (not sexual) thing in real life, and I have told the story of how I overcame it. I would ADORE seeing Kuroko remain problematic, but then grow past it, and learn to respect Misaka fully.

But if noooot... there's always the option to just get rid of it entirely because holy shit is Kuroko's admiration and trust in Misaka beautiful. The way Kuroko lays down her life for her, appears in an instant to aid her, forces herself not to pester her for days and weeks despite agonizing over whether Misaka is okay... The way she takes pride and comfort in doing those things for her, how she calls out her name lovingly while fighting for her. It touches my heart so much, man.

And Misaka, despite how often Kuroko annoys her, knows she can rely on her and be vulnerable around her. She values Kuroko's thoughts and cares how she feels about her, past all that Level 5 "Ace of Tokiwadai" stuff. She's protective of all her friends, of course, but I always imagine that she holds herself double responsible for Kuroko's safety. She's who she thinks of first, every time. Misaka recognizes when Kuroko is pushing herself too hard, and she softens in such a genuine, nurturing way to assure her that she can rest easy.

The level of dedication these two have for each other is wonderful, and how could I not ship them?

—–- Aizawa + Toshinori (My Hero Academia): Honestly, I like a lot of MHA ships, but this was my first OTP for that series, and it's simply because despite having a very prickly start, their relationship grows into this very gentle mutual respect and protectiveness of one another, and it's just... so cute! And it hurts me so much.

I've read a lot of fics, written a lot of roleplays, seen a lot of art, and watched a lot of AMVs. I feel such a deep heart-throbbing when I see them together. Caring, protecting, sacrificing, mourning, fighting, regretting, saving, comforting....

Sometimes I don't even know how to describe it, but I have cried over these two so many times. I want them to be happy. I want to see them suffer on the way there. I want them to recognize their own inner demons when they look into the other's eyes, and then commit to being better because of each other. I've seen them through every AU I could think of within—god, however many years I was in love with them. And I can still remember why.

—–- Rouxls Kaard + Spade King (Deltarune): So I find both of these characters unfairly attractive in many fanarts, and they are one of my favorite mutually toxic relationships.

I credit one of my friends and his amazing unfinished series about them for the way I now envision them and how they interact. Spade could likely be called abusive simply due to his violent nature and power over Rouxls (both physical and social), but Rouxls is a manipulative, lying little weasel who is using Spade as much as Spade is using him.

Neither one of them have a damn clue how to treat another person right, though they both try and succeed (more often than not) with Lancer. Perhaps it's his innocence in all this, but unlike their terrible, broken relationship with each other, their relationships with Lancer are actually strong and outwardly loving.

Spade isn't nearly as aggressive with him as everyone else, he does what he thinks will make his son happy, and while he may sometimes be clipped, he isn't dismissive. Meanwhile, Rouxls tells himself Lancer is not his son and shouldn't be his responsibility, but dammit he loves the kid anyway! Lancer's smile brightens his day, and Rouxls will even risk getting himself in trouble with the king in order to give Lancer happiness. He puts off his own wants for him, does what he can to comfort him when he's sad, and frets QUITE heavily about his safety (albeit that one has a double-motive—obviously the king would kill his dumb ass if Lancer got hurt under his watch, but that's beside the point, he sayeth!)

Anyway yeah, Dad and Lesser Dad plz.

I can't overstate how much I love seeing fiction depict complex, nuanced relationships with plenty of toxic elements to examine. It's a way to relate some of their traits to my past mistakes, or even my current flaws. It helps me understand myself better. Also it's hot! x3

And really wholesome if the characters manage to actually improve themselves and start showing real affection and care for each other.

Hi! Since one's directed specifically to me, Raph can answer this one! (kinda confused about the first one tho, dunno what that means)

Depends on where you live, really. All yokai are shoved onto long island if they're from New York as in the state, so you got three choices: Brooklyn, Queens, or behind the wall. Brooklyn is probably your best bet if you're yokai. It's a lot better kept since Big Mama owns it and with the whole deal thing, Big Mama has a pretty good deal goin' for us. It's not like Staten Island or anything, but you do with what you got, y'know? Queens is more like trailer park/ factory workers. They're full of the factories and stuff that the humans employ yokai for so they don't have to, so production stuff like fabrics and other things that require a lot of manual labor besides energy and stuff, so it's a lil rough and tumble but not too much worse than Brooklyn. As for behind the wall, well... Behind the wall from what I've heard is cramped. Alexandri and Burkhart constantly complain about the lack of airspace. Alex also said somethin' about how it could be equated to Bronx for humans, but probably way worse so I'd assume its the worst of the three. Never seen behind the wall myself since that thing's been up since before Raph can remember and it reaches pretty high. Been to Bronx a couple times though, even with the bros before... y'know. The whole PBH thing, so...

As for the human side, well they got three options too. April knows the most about Bronx since she lived there before escapin', but essentially Bronx is where the lowest class humans live. Its cramped, dirty, and mostly full of factories like Queens. It's also where the shadiest of humans are and where Big Mama does her darkest deals. Then you have Manhattan where the nicer places are. Working class folk. Pops used to say the reason most of the deals happen in Manhattan is cuz there are plenty of underground markets that form cuz of how much more time they have compared to Bronx peeps. And then there's Staten. Staten Island is probably the most bougie place in New York City. Rich people live there, government officials and the like. The people who make the big bucks like company owners. It's where PBH is, and apparently there are three different facilities. Safe to say, As long as you're human, white, and live in either Manhattan or Staten Island, you're livin' at least comfy.

Raina had a premature past life memory come to her in nightly reverie. She can only vaguely remember this elf, but she remembers the feelings she had for them. Now she has it in her mind she has to find them in this life because why else did she receive that memory?

Raina relies heavily on the idea she has a soul mate to reunite with. She wants this romantic, eternal love—guaranteed love. Underneath it all she fears she's unlovable and is terrified of falling in love with someone only for them to leave her heartbroken and alone like her mother.
