#all that's lacking is him fighting with Luffy lol

It might be just me, but this scene has a bit of Zosan energy:
Sanji stopping Zoro before he does something stupid, ready to react before Zoro even says the thing.
Shanks grabs Buggy *immediately*, like he expected him to say this stuff and butts-in to make sure he's not left out.
Reminds me of Uta and Luffy's competitiveness with each other as well, heh.
This might come off as shocking, but seems to me that Buggy and Shanks had some rivalry going on at this point in time :D one tried to outdo the other. Maybe they indeed did some stupid competitions all the time, like "I'm taller than you!" or "I can drink more than you!".
Let's also not forget their stupid North Pole/South Pole quarrel.
I think Shuggy shippers don't like to hear it, but this is such a sibling-like energy up there. Those two practically grew up together like siblings. It reminds me of the friends I had once: two sisters, one or two years apart in age. They fought all the time! And sometimes those quarrels became reeeeally violent, over stupidest things and kinda worried me lol (once they got jealous over a letter I wrote to both of them, which is why I started writing letters to them seperately!). This feels nostalgic.
"You two are always fighting", says Rayleigh. How many more stupid fights did those two have? :D (I wish we could see more of this side of Shanks. The stubborn mule Shanks! One that won't back away no matter what, because he is *so sure* he is right he actually is but that's not the point here)
I bet that's how they got into this trouble as well! They're younger here, but I feel like they probably competed about the lion: "I will be the one to defeat this lion!", "No! you're a weakling, I will do it!" (or something else involving the said lion lol), and turns out they both failed and escaped to the *same* tree out of all places and waited for Roger to help and rescue them lol. It's interesting how later on Buggy has a lion in his crew :D trying to prove the point perhaps, that he is already stronger than that time in the past? Now lions obey him instead! (well, technically not him, but his crewmate, but it still counts)
Also can I point it out? Shanks is crying here. He was a crybaby (just like Luffy!). I bet you *anything* Buggy made fun of him for that, more than once. It's just such a Buggy thing to do. Which is probably why Shanks tried to stop being a crybaby and prove him he is stronger. Kinda like Luffy did just because Ace told him he hates crybabies.
Buggy: Stop crying! Boys don't cry like that! *pretends not to be crying himself*
Shanks: But I'm so scared! What if the lion would have eaten you??
Buggy: What? I'm not a weakling like you! Worry about yourself instead, stupid!!
My little headcanon of that scene, in which Shanks is scared not for himself, but because Buggy would have been hurt, and Buggy of course takes it the wrong way, because it's Buggy, what else do you expect lol. I adore them. I really wish a dialogue like that happened between them actually, just to laugh at Buggy because he cries a lot himself as adult LOL. Now who's the crybaby when older?! He actually might have cried as a child as well, but pretended not to, lol.
Damn, I'm so tempted to write my scrutinizing analysis of Shuggy interactions, to form a coherent backstory of them :D it's all there, hidden in silly details! It just has to be put together, the right questions asked and voila, I swear! Or I'm delusional but it would be still a fun thing to do.
don't be an idiot! you'd only drag [oden] down!! Can you expand on the way it lingers in ur brain? Is it the same in og?
it's basically what i said in those tags—it feels uncharacteristically mean of shanks. (though no worse than the kind of insults buggy happily threw at shanks at that age.)
is it that mean in the original? let's see!
chapter 958, page 3. they’re so silly…
so, buggy says 「おれが手ェ貸してやってもいいぜおでんさん‼︎」 ore ga tee kashite yattemo iize oden-san!! i’d be happy to lend you a hand, oden!!
and shanks responds 「バーカ足手まといだお前なんか‼︎ | なーおでんさんおれなら…」 baaka, ashidematoi da omae nanka!! naa, oden-san, ore nara… stupid, you’d just be a burden!! hey, oden, about me…
so, yeah, i’d say the translation’s pretty accurate. 🥲 i guess i just had an idealized vision of young shanks in my head that doesn’t match up with the reality…
#one piece#shuggy#shanks#buggy#reblogs#I adore them together they're hilarious#Buggy is the silly charm to Shanks coolness#who needs a cool Shanks anyway if you can have a silly Shanks instead?!#my favourite Shanks is Shanks from chapter 1 and he gives off Buggy-like stupid energy there lol#making fun of Luffy and being a stubborn mule#all that's lacking is him fighting with Luffy lol#incorrect quotes#or actually???

HI, i’m just soo in love with the way you portray zoro so i was thinking about a request (only if u want to, ofcc)
imagine reader having feelings for zoro and be reciprocated (but reader still doesn’t know bc zoro’s not the best at expressing feelings) they’re in wano and with the way hiyori treats zoro reader thinks zoro likes hiyori so reader puts some distance between them and zoro and gets closer to law (bc i think they’re kinda similar up to some point) AND ZORO NOTICES IT.
that’s it for my request, kinda specific lol, HAVE A NICE DAY and feel free to take as much time as you need if you decide to give it a go <3
i’m so sorry for the wait, but istg I really wanted to give it a go as you said!! <3 the reader is set to be the crew’s strategist/scholar, just like in this one shot (though this request is not meant to be the following of the later!). the events I’m describing are not 100% accurate with the exact way wano happened (in terms of strategy meetings etc etc) but I felt more comfortable this way!! i didn't know if you wanted a good or bad ending, so i went for the first option to compensate with the long wait :( i hope you enjoy it <3
wc: 1.7 ish
stolen times
Saying you only had yourself to blame and your sole eyes to cry, was an understatement.
As the crew’s strategist, you offered to split at Zou in order for everyone to attend the two issues at end: saving Sanji, and the people of Wano. Because of your valuable knowledge and abilities, you stayed alongside Law, Robin, Franky, and Zoro, while the rest of the crew left for Whole Cake island. Considering the matter at hand, everyone had to stick to their role, even if it meant pretending not to know one another.
Even if it meant pretending not to know Roronoa Zoro.
Saying you knew Roronoa Zoro was also an understatement. After all the time you spent alongside the swordsman, it felt like you understood him pretty well, without as much as a word. You understood his thrive to perfect his craft, his dedication, his patience regarding improvement, his need for meditation and peace, his oath. You knew his favorite mug to drink from, the way he likes his rice, his favorite sleeping position. You could hear the laughters he would let while talking to Luffy, see the protective hold he would have on Chopper while walking, see the flex of his strong built, the blink of his dark eye, the bite on his lower lip.
Everything from Roronoa Zoro was framed in the back of your eye. You loved, admired the swordsman. Your relationship with him was pleasant, even though it lacked the romance you so craved for. He would often stay by your side while you worked in your office claiming it was a quiet space and ask if you ate before working, sit next to you during meetings and meals, lay a hand on your waist when walking down the dock, and always, always, look your way before getting into a fight with an enemy. Other than that, nothing was truly shared between the two of you, and because of Zoro’s silence regarding his feelings, your mind never allowed itself to wander through the possibilities of his heart, while the later would try its best concealing your desires.
So pretending not to know about the way another woman was treating him and tending to his needs was torture. And none of this would have happened if you had ruled for Zoro to go to Whole Cake. Which is why you deeply cursed yourself, even though it was for a greater cause.
Time seemed long until you all reunited at Wano and start planning for the assault on Kaido. So when you did reunite with everyone, your jaw almost dropped to the floor when Brook mentioned walking in on Hiyori sleeping on top of Zoro. Pretending not to care was harder than pretending not to know, so you decided to ignore the green-haired male and stay focused on your task. Even if it meant not listening to the drums of your heart and its song.
Which led to raise confusion in Zoro’s mind. He was not explicit with words, but weren’t his gestures enough? Did you not understand him like he thought you did?
He would be lying if he said he did not mind your distant attitude. He would even go as far as saying that he felt bothered by it, especially after spending quite some time apart pretending not to know one another. He was surprised to not see your usual smile when you looked at him, and not have you saving him a spot next to your figure.
Instead, there was Trafalgar Law.
And it seemed you enjoyed his company. He could see the two of you talking intently and the way he would lower his head so he could hear you more amongst the ruckus. He could see the way his grey eyes would pierce at your features, like a hawk. Hell, he even saw how Law casually laid a hand on your arm when you got up the table to wash your hands.
Zoro clicked his tongue and threw daggers at Law with his one functioning eye, wishing his eye could kill.
When the reunion ended and everyone started leaving to their room, the swordsman could not help himself but bump into you on his way, which you could not possibly ignore. Your eyes met before you averted your gaze and started walking again, which he prevented by standing your way.
And yet, he did not let out a single word. Or at least, not a single one he wished to say.
“Enjoying the alliance I see.”
You scoffed, your pride taking advantage.
“So do you, Roronoa”, you looked down at Enma with an arched brow, “Nice sword you have here.”
“Thanks, Hiyori gave it to me.” he answered, not noticing the ice in your tone, or maybe ignoring it for how warm he felt hearing your voice, even if it lacked its usual honey.
Hearing the name you resented triggered your jealousy. You simply nodded and formed an “oh” with your lips, its shape taking his breath away. It took him a lot of strength not to plant a kiss on your pout, but before he could even argue, someone called you, interrupting his train of thought.
“(Y/N)-ya, I need your input on the number of fleets for the assault before we head out.” Law said from behind Zoro, which prevented the doctor from seeing the grim look on the swordsman’s face.
“Already on first name basis with the Doctor huh?” Zoro said, clicking his tongue in the process.
Just like you with Hiyori, you wished to say. You wanted to shake him off, ask him what the matter was if Law used your first name. You wanted him to tell you he liked you and not Hiyori, and him to throw his new sword away. You knew these were unfair feelings, and probably a little mean. If Zoro had found solace in the kindness of Hiyori and the beauty of Wano, then there was nothing for you to do, right?
With these invading thoughts in mind, you simply sighed and offered him a small, sad smile before joining Law in his quarters.
“I’ll see you in three days for the assault. Please train well, everyone is counting on you.”
Seeing you walk past him to join Law hurt him more than he wished to admit. He did not turn around to watch you walk away, swallowing whole. He waited a second before walking away as well, regrouping with Hiyori.
// the festivities after the assault //
When Kaido was defeated after much efforts, the Mugiwara and the alliance craved for a celebration. Everyone was reunited on the Sunny amongst sake, flowers, food, music and laughters.
You had your back resting on the railing, enjoying the breeze in your hair with a cup of your favorite drink in your hand, looking at the rejoice faces around you. Of course, your eyes followed the trail of Zoro, and the fact that the swordsman was still sitting with Hyori.
Sighing, you felt the presence of Law getting closer to yours. He stood beside you, his eyes looking in the same direction as yours.
“I have to admit (Y/N)-ya, you remarkably led the battlefield.”
”Because you doubted this alliance? Here I thought we were able of performing miracles.” you playfully added using his phrases, slightly shoving the Doctor in the process. Trafalgar Law felt himself smirking, not bothering to answer your gentle attack, surprisingly, simply enjoying your presence.
During the course of this alliance, you had gotten closer with the Doctor. His quietness and charisma was similar to Zoro’s, even though he was not as large as the green-haired. Law found himself enjoying talking to you, especially in this setting. He thought you were intelligent and committed to your work, dedicated to saving lives with the best plans, just like he dedicated his life as a doctor to save others. You could see how he grew accustomed to the crew’s nonchalant antics, and safe around you all. Even you were surprised that he did not betray Luffy’s trust, since you were part of the ones that doubted Luffy’s decision.
But getting closer to Law, even as amicably as your relationship with him was, did not go unnoticed, especially by the swordsman himself. Three days ago, he felt a gap between the two of you, which he was not used to. Him, who was so used to stay by your side when you stayed on the railing to lovingly keep an eye on everyone. Him, who was so used to enjoying your presence and your scent. Him, that was now staring at you and Law amidst the laughters of his friends, ignoring Hiyori beside him.
Right now, he had two options at hand. Either closing the distance, or risking losing you to another world.
“Go talk to her.” he heard Hiyori’s voice beside him speak, which cut his train of thought.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“I feel like I got to know you enough to know that (Y/N)-san holds a dear place to your heart. Pardon me if I am wrong, though, but she may not be aware of your feelings.”
Zoro sighed and did not find the words to answer Hiyori. Instead, he kept his eye on you all along. You were so beautiful, glorious.
When Law left to get you another drink, Zoro took this opportunity to get up and walk to you, his presence getting more and more overpowering as he got closer to you. As he got beside you, you did not dare to move, feeling a pull.
There he stayed beside you, enjoying your presence as he should. The air blowing in your hair danced its way to his heart again, a dusty shade of pink coloring his features. On your hand, it felt hard to talk, a mix of sadness, desire, pride and guilt creeping in your heart.
The swordsman crossed his arm as he kept his built back onto the railing, finally uttering the words he wished to say, closing his one eye.
“You were missed, you better know that.”
And all he heard was your scoff and laugh at his subtle yet commanding hint.
“What’s making ya laugh, woman?” he turned to you, opening his eye, basking in your glory.
“You are, Zoro. You are clearly implying that you missed my presence, while you’re here with your girlfriend! It’s preposterous, even for you.” You said, trying to calm your laughter, clearly a defense mechanism.
“Huh?! Are you insane?! Who are you talking about?” he asked, dumbfounded with a bit of irritation.
“Hiyori, who else? I wish the two of you all the happiness in the world. But you should not imply things you either do not mean or should not mean in a relationship.”
“What relationship are you even talking about for God’s sake? Are you high? Drunk?”
“Stop lying to me! I understand you have boundaries and secrets and all, but I saw how the two of you are acting! And Brook even told me you slept together! So please, for the sake of my heart, Zoro : do not say words you should not say when you are involved with someone else.”
You let out a huge sigh at the end of your speech, trying your best to keep your composure. Zoro stared at you, quite confused at your words. But amidst them all, Zoro remembered how he understood you like no one could. And in spite of your ludicrous accusations, Zoro knew better. Regardless of him knowing better, his stubbornness got the best of him at that moment.
“You’re one to talk, with Tra-guy sticking to you. He’s been all over you, ready to steal you away from me and the crew.”
“What are you even talking about? I am not planning on leaving you and the crew, and Law is just a friend. Surely, he is not interested in stealing me away on his submarine. Don’t be preposterous.”
“Only an idiot wouldn’t want to steal you away if they could.”
Your eyes met his for a moment, and it felt obvious. Natural. Before Law could come back with the drink you wanted, you offered him a small smile, set on cutting the tension.
“So, are you dating Hiyori?”
“I thought it was clear that I’m not interested in dating her.” he replied, which made you look at him with an arched brow.
“Why are you looking at me like that? Isn’t it obvious?”
“Just as obvious as your probable feelings for me, if you want my opinion.”
Zoro sighed, blaming himself for not being able to normally express his feelings to you, worried, that someone like Law could.
“How can I make my feelings clearer then?” he genuinely asked, feeling Law coming your way.
“You could start by getting me a drink?” you suggested with a knowing smile as Law arrived in front of the two of you.
Needless to say, Zoro forcefully took the drink from the other captain’s hands to hand it to you, with a smirk on his lips.
“Ain’t nobody stealing my girl here, Tra-guy.” he muttered to his “rival”, leaving Law confused and you laughing.
From that moment on, the distance finally closed and Zoro felt exactly where he belonged: right by your side.

Okay so can I request zero overhearing that his crushes favorite color is green (bonus it if they describe a shade that’s close to his hair )
50 Shades of Green: Zoro x Reader
Includes: Roronoa Zoro , GN Reader
A / N: I assumed you meant Zoro lol. This is such a cute idea for a scenario ! I Hope you enjoy <3. I hope this is up to your standards !! Feel free to tell me in my AMA if you want me to redo this <33
It was a bright day , a day of relaxation. Everyone on the Sunny took this opportunity to take a break and enjoy themselves. Rather it be playing tag on the deck , listening to Brook play some beautiful tunes , or even just reading / tending to the garden. Everyone was being themselves and having fun. It was quite the break from the massive battles they've had recently.
You sat next to Nami , who was tending to her tangerines. Behind you , Robin sat reading her book. You and Nami had been chatting happily for what felt like hours. Robin , though she was reading , listened and observed everything to two of you were saying. She was ever observant , even if she was on break.
"Hey , I'll be back. I'm gonna go see if Sanji would mind making me something to drink." You said , excusing yourself from the 2 women. They nodded and waved to you as your form retreated from their vision.
As you jumped down to the kitchen , you noticed the two who normally fight . . . Well , fighting. The blonde haired cook seemed to be enraged about something while the moss headed swordsman just sarcastically commented back and basically brushed off the cook's complaints.
That swordsman. The very one that lacks a sense of direction in a literal and figurative sense. You felt your heart flutter as your eyes trailed to him. You shook your head and brushed pass them to get into the kitchen.
Though you didn't know it , Zoro's eyes followed you as the door shut behind your body. You walked over to the fridge and stared at all of your selections. As you sighed and closed the fridge , the door to the kitchen reopened. You glanced over to see who was coming in and noticed the cook. Sanji had apparently stopped arguing with Zoro and came to attend to your needs.
"What would you like , Reader ?" He asked with a smile on his face. Even if it was near dinner time , it was clear he didn't mind tending to his crewmates' needs. You smiled back at him and leaned against the counter.
"Are you able to make a drink for me ? I'm not sure exactly what I want yet. Or maybe a snack , if that's not too much to ask for." You trailed off as your mind trailed back to its thoughts.
"Of course. How about a vol - au - vent ?" He asked as he he began to take out the pastry from a sealed container. "I made some earlier for Nami and Robin , but they told me they weren't hungry." He shrugged and placed it on the counter for you.
"Thank you , Sanji." You bowed your head lightly and took one of the treats from the tray. You resealed the container and walked out of the kitchen.
Somewhere in the time that you had been inside , your ship had landed on an island. You looked at the gorgeous tree filled island in awe. It was lush with fresh vegetation and had many beautiful flowers. You've seen many different islands in the New World , but this had to be one of the nicer ones.
"Alright. I want Chopper , Usopp , and . . sadly . . . Luffy . . To go into town. Robin , I'd like you to go with them. We need you 4 to pick up some herbs for me and Chopper. Sanji , I want you and Brook to go stock up on food supplies. And Franky , you go get materials to repair the ship and for whatever else." Nami directed , pointing those people in the directions they were supposed to go. As she spoke , the groups filed out so they could get their job done as quickly as possible. It was hard to tell if it was because they wanted to go back to the sea or if they didn't wanna see Nami angry. Most likely the latter , you thought.
"What about me and Zoro ?" You questioned as you took a final bite of the tasty hollow treat Sanji had made. "I want you 2 to watch the ship. I'm going onto the island to chart it." She responded , picking up some paper and pens. Before either of you could say anything , she walked off of the ship.
You stood there , staring at the place the ginger once was. You blinked and turned your attention to Zoro , who seemed to be in the same boat as you. You wouldn't admit it , but you were happy to be alone with him.
You stood there , collecting your thoughts. While you stood like a statue , the Swordsman went off to work out. You shook your head violently and whipped your head around to find him. There he was , in all his muscular glory , at the end of the ship with a comically large weight in his hands. He had his coat discarded and he was thrusting the weight forwards and back onto his shoulder in a slicing like motion.
You couldn't help but stare. Everything about how he just so calmly lifted what you assumed to be over 400ibs surprised you. Instead of staring , you decided to go into the crows nest to keep a lookout for any enemies or your crewmates.
---
A few hours had passed by without either of you speaking to one another. The ship was in a comfortable silence , engulfing the both of you as you did separate things. You were bored sitting by yourself , if you were being honest. You were often fidgety and lost in thought instead of looking out. Of course , observation haki helped out with sensing living things but you didn't use it often.
Just as you were about to take a nap , you noticed a bag bobbing around the Sunny. You narrowed your eyes to see who it was and didn't see anyone. That was until you saw Luffy and Robin. You assumed it was either Chopper or Usopp. You smiled softly and walked down from your previous place.
You watched as the lump ran up to you. "Reader ! I got you something ! I thought it was your favorite color." The little reindeer doctor said excitedly as he ran up to you. He handed you a bag that was pink. Not your favorite color , but you liked his thought.
"I appreciate your gesture , Chopper. My favorite color isn't pink , though." You responded , putting the bag on your right side. You could definitely put your weapons and stuff in it. "Oh ! What's your favorite color then ?" He tilted his head with an adorable look on his face.
"Green , actually. I'd say a minty - moss green ? It's just really nice , in my opinion." You explained with a smile on your [shape] face. You heard a noise of surprise behind you and you turned. You didn't expect to have your [color] colored eyes meet with one brown one. Your face lit up.
"Greenisaprettycolorididntmeanitlikethat !" You sputtered out , hiding your face from his confusing stare. You couldn't tell if he was mad at you , if you were being honest.
"Green is a nice color , isn't it ?" Zoro mocked , laughing heartily. You were EXTREMELY embarrassed. Though , you didn't notice the red on his cheeks as well.
Chopper and Usopp laughed at your misery. They were even on the floor , about dying at that point. "I just didn't expect you to be into that color of green." He shrugged and smiled smugly at you. He turned and walked away from the 3 of you , cheeks reddening further.
Though you didn't know it , your words stuck in his head. It repeated like a broken record. He didn't understand why , but he liked the thought of it. Maybe his feelings for you grew , but he didn't know that. Maybe he should talk to Robin or Chopper about it. For now , he would sit and think about you. Even at night.

The fun thing about long running series is that you can trace a character's narrative evolution in real time.
The Law we saw pre-timeskip clearly aimed for One Piece.
Unless it was an elaborated lie to his crewmates (which I guess is the in-series explanation at the moment), it's safe to assume that his D lineage and self assigned suicidal mission didn't exist as a concept back then. The goal is eventually re-established with a context.
While drawing, I assumed Kidd would become important, but I didn't think LAW would move forward like that. So it's youu?? 😱
Weekly serialization, it's a Wonderland.
Weekly serialization means adding oomph on micro scale. I have a particular theory extrapolated from this statement: Law's introduction in Punk Hazard wasn't planned at all.
It might sound far fetched for how integral Law is to Punk Hazard's plot. But it's not an uncommon event, and not just in One piece. Editors often suggest heavy changes to accommodate strong cliffhangers and quick surprises. Eleven supernova were created because early Shabondy lacked oomph, Law might have appeared in Punk Hazard for the same reason.
Even without Law, the straw hats would've anchored in Dressrosa to save Kanjurou, Zou to reunite with Raizo, and in Wano to escort their friends back home. Law just happened to have something going on in all of these places.
I think both Law and Kidd's post timeskip debut was planned to be in Wano arc. Law's competitive dynamic with Kidd and Luffy in Wano is more consistent with Shabondy than anything that came before.
Doflamingo was initially one of Kaido's strongest allies to be defeated within Wano country (confirmed in volume 98 SBS). It means Dressrosa was entirely different from what we got.
Given the similarity in their Jolly Roger, Oda may have always planned Law to be Doflamingo's ex-subordinate with a complicated history, keeping his and Doflamingo's conflict reserved for Wano. But Law was popular, resourceful and the story needed a boost after a monotonous Fishman Island arc. Thus, Law gets his early screentime that snowballs into a dramatic Dressrosa arc. I'm sure Oda didn't mind.
Tldr, I think this is how it went down: Oda decides that Kidd and Law would return and fight alongside Luffy in Wano -> Punk hazard is written and introduces Kinemon -> Punk Hazard falls bland and editor pesters Oda to bring Law early -> Law appears and proposes an alliance, so the plot is now directly chained to Wano -> Oda realizes ope ope makes a good device to explain Imu's immortality -> Oda makes Law a D as he's now connected to endgame plot.
Even if the theory above is wrong, it's a fact that Law was not a part of the bigger picture but became unexpectedly relevant. To work with him, Oda had to figure the smaller details of his personality slowly as the story progressed; such as his honesty and the suicidal tendency.
Law roped straw hats into his revenge scheme while deep down wanting them to leave Dressrosa safe and unharmed. But Law in the draft for this scene looks more... certain. Maybe Robin wasn't wrong to suspect Law after all.
I guess, by the time Oda actually reached the scene, the shadiness didn't suit his personality anymore. Corazon would not approve.
Wano Law was the best written Law. His personality was fully ironed out, not just the revived rivalry with Luffy-Kidd but also a reluctance to be nice while time and time proving it's mostly just talks. It's a mix of his personality traits that were decided at his very introduction and the later decided improvisations.
This post was getting too big and derailed so I had to cut it short lol. Maybe I'm reaching with my speculations but it was a fun topic to brainstorm about.
Edit: Here's a bit of extension of this theory.

I was interested in your “dream-stealer” devil fruit power idea! What would be the thing that stops is tho? The power of friendship lol
I know it won’t be easy to give the dream back. But what would your solution be?
“The power of friendship.” Téa from yugioh will haunt us all for years I swear.
I’m still figuring out the specifics of the fruit. I think the dreams would have to be stored somewhere. Else the only solution is death but you can’t guarantee that would undo the devil fruit’s work, it’s never worked that way for any other fruit to have their damage or effect magically reversed after the user passes.
So they have to be stored is a way. I kind of like the idea of floating bubbles. Not only because it calls back to the old comic thought/dream bubble but because they could be stylized so that each bubble is its own little dream world in it. If you look in the bubble you see what the persons dream looks like once it’s fulfilled. Or at least how they dream it will look.
So if Nami’s dream got stolen you’d see a complete map of the world completed in her hand writing. (Probable a lot of gold to)
Or if Sanji’s dream got stolen you’d see him cooking in a restaurant at the all blue. He’d probably be cooking for all of the crew, Zeff, and all of the beautiful women then met along the way. (It makes for a great way to cameo Vivi and other characters. This could also be used as a fun gag with the male strawhats being farther back, or could be really sweet showcasing all the strawhats together as it shows how much Sanji values his crew members)
But their dreams didn’t get stolen Luffy’s did. I can only picture Luffy’s vision of being pirate king as reaching the last island with all of his crew. The joy on all of their faces. Maybe Shanks is there wearing the famed strawhat as Luffy has returned it. Maybe Sabo is there cheering him on. Maybe because it’s a dream Ace is there. But regardless of anyone else. It is him and his crew celebrating together. Looking forward to the next adventure. Be that exploring the world (helping Nami’s map and Franky’s dream) or going on to accomplish one of the other crews dreams.
But as far as getting it back I think they would have to return the bubble in tact to Luffy. They can’t pop it. Dreams can be fragile things. If the dream breaks it cannot be returned.
This adds an extra layer of stress because the Strawhats don’t know this rule. Heck they don’t know what this persons devil fruit is. All they know is that Luffy pushed one of them out of the way and collapsed from one hit. When he woke up he gave up. He doesn’t want to go after this person and he doesn’t believe in his dream any more.
Maybe they try to confront the dream stealer head on. That’s when the user informs them of exactly what their fruit does. It steals dreams/ambitions and gives them power (I don’t know if this power is just greater speed and strength or if they can used the powers of the people whose dreams they stole)
They engage in a fight because they want Luffy’s dream back and Zoro cuts through one of the dream bubbles. Thinking if these are the things giving the user power he can just take their strength. Or maybe he’s thinking that’s how you free the trapped dreams. Maybe he’s thinking both maybe he’s not thinking at all. But he does it.
Only for the user to laugh at him. He just destroyed someone’s dream forever. Shattered it on impacted. And for one heart stopping moment. He and the crew fear that was Luffy’s dream. But no, the user is keeping that one close.
This means the crew has to find way to get the dream away from this person without damaging it. It also creates a tension because the user can pop the dream bubble at any moment. It would be a massive lose of power for them so they won’t do it but again the crew doesn’t know that.
Note
I don’t know if Luffy’s lack of ambition will carry over to his feelings about his friends dreams. Does he lose all of his conviction for his own dream but still believe in theirs? Or does he not believe in anything?
Just imagining Zoro realizing Luffy’s given up on being the king of the pirates. Listening to his captain repeat all the reasons everyone’s told them their whole journey it’s not possible. He’s to young, it’s not real, there are stronger people, etc. and looking at his Captain the only person with ambitions greater then his own and try to snap him out of it. “if you’re not going to be the king of the pirates then I need to leave this crew, I’m still going to be the world’s greatest swordsman.” He doesn’t mean it, not fully. If Luffy truly gave up then they need to separate (no matter how much it would hurt, he needs to keep moving towards his dream) but he knows Luffy would never give up just like he’d never let one of them walk away. He’s expecting Luffy to snap out of it, but instead he gets Luffy looking at him with such a blank look asking why he thinks he of all people can become the world’s greatest swords man. And just like that the crew knows that it’s not just his dream Luffy’s given up on, but all of their’s, he doesn’t believe in any of them anymore.

Oh From Au Rising Sun
Scenario of how would Wano go...
King tribe was created by Nika and that why they have affinity to fire as they were blessed by their creator. Which had always had their own religion involving the sun which why they know about certain legend and story.
After Nika death the tribe soon had sperate themselves from human society going to the redlines.
But *cough* the stupid bi-I MEAN WG slaughter all of them expect missing some which lead to King being the last....(I feel horrible for King THE WG TOOK HIS TRIBE AND HIS FAMILY!!!) He swore to kill the celestial brats and help Kaido.
King still hold Nika is creator dear to him as he has a altar for him.
Then strawhat in Wano- lol
King immediately recognized Luffy godly aura and realizes his God is back
Instead of Luffy going to prison he end up in a glass cage being cared for by King since he doesn't want to loss him again.
Leading to his friend end up beating the sht out of the beast pirates commanders along with kid and heart pirates.
-
Grap, Shanks and Dragon come soon finding the most of the place tarnished, blood spill, multiple bodys and fire everywhere.
Okay so I just want to say....YES?
I was already planning to make the Lunarians related to Nika by creation but you made this even better.
King follow the faith with care and respect, he does his prayers at the sun rise and fall. He do offerings and sing songs, but he never expected see Nika in person so when he see Luffy was a shock because, yes he didn't has the white hair and red eyes Nika was know off but that was clearly his god.
When Kaido defeats him King managed to put Luffy into a glass cage, he couldn't handle the idea of losing his patron again, he knew Nika would hate this but at least he was safe, he was with someone who would protect him(at least in his mind). The thing is, King did this all with good intentions, but his mind was so disturb that he didn't thought how this was a terrible idea, how this hirted his god.
Luffy was indeed furious at this, the lack of freedom triggering him(Nika did died chained) but King wouldn't listen, not until Luffy had escaped and he was fighting Zoro

One Piece manga spoilers
Every romance stands up a chance //thoughts//
At this point, so close to chapter 1100 (omg), I think there are, clearly, things that can be extracted from the global image that the story and its characters give away.
In the case of Sanji's character, anyone who has kept up with the manga can easily tell that, for whatever the reason is, his role is significantly linked to Nami, and it revolves specially around her.
When it comes to Nami, Sanji is a dog with a bone. She's always his first thought, his first option when it comes to women and romance. He refuses to give up on her, and all his advances will go (mainly) to her.
"Rejection" from Nami doesn't com from despise or exhaustion. It comes with distance.
In fact, to this day, advances and attempts from the sort, when they are not made on Nami but on other women, are still softly declined or ignored.
Still, partially because of the lack of self-confidence, I doubt he genuinely believes that there's really a chance for him.
But partially, too, because none of them takes him seriously. And that comes with the joke: Sanji is the only character interested in women and romance in the crew. Probably the one who has more chances to end up paired EOS. Still, he doesn't get any woman.
It is no surprise that women can't take him seriously, as most of the time he's simping and longing for women/romance, and he barely ever tries to flirt expecting to succeed (as opposed to his initial character description he is no ladykiller (lol), in fact, it really surprises me that cover 1089 has him asking Nami almost directly to go on a date with him, something he has never done before with her or any other woman).
So to understand Sanji's issue with women as a recurrent joke on the manga (not getting any of them as much as he wishes he would), you have to appreciate as well the fact that he, actually, gets them when he is not trying so hard, when he is basically himself, the kind, pure and selfless version of him.
In summary, having Nami in the 1089 cover decline Sanji's invitation is in character and makes sense for both characters. It has no greater meaning. If we ever see something from Nami's part, it is going to go unnoticed to Sanji when he is not trying at all.
But back to the present and regarding chapter 1089, it is worth noticing too that at the end of the chapter Sanji is approaching Nami with his "hearty-eyes" despite Bonney being there too.
Since the Egghead arc began, Sanji's role has almost exclusively orbited around Nami and Oda has worked, from the beginning, to build a common thread between him and Nami, since the first scene of the Mugiwaras facing the Seraphim has Sanji fighting back the S-shark to save Nami and that was, too, the last scene we saw of him, repeating the first scene. I deduce that Oda has bothered to do so surely because it serves a purpose we haven't seen yet.
Last but not least, Oda loves making recurrent jokes and gags with Sanji; be it his bounty posters, and eventually Duval, him meeting for the first time a real mermaid, Kokoro, Hiyori and Hacock being all lovey-dovey with Zoro and Luffy respectively, and finally when the latest bounties came out and he was replaced by Jinbe in the third position with the highest bounty of the crew (implying too his legitimate position in the Monster Trio).
But we all know that Sanji is in the Monster Trio, and that eventually he's going to get back the third highest bounty. And as much as the gag of him with women can go on, eventually things are going to fall into place and Sanji will get his happy ending EOS.

Evie's One Piece OC Compendium
SO @eustasskidsfattits asked me to make a post about my One Piece OCs, so here it is! I wanted to make this way sooner, but then stuff happened and then I got to show one of my friends OPLA and 8 OCs turned to 9 (oopsies...). Also, the perfectionist in me would not shut up. Yes, this is technically the intro for the three newest ones, so buckle up!
I'm gonna list them in the order that I created them, simply because listing them in the order of their appearance in the story would be fairly impossible with how OPLA likes to introduce characters earlier on lol - These OCs also all exist in their own separate universes, by the way...
So yeah, long post incoming and, for any OPLA-onlies reading this post: Spoiler warning!!!
Not proofread because I just wanna finally get this post out and I am lacking energy
The Guardian: Aether S. Luna
The original One Piece OC and also the one who has gone through the most changes. I revamped her only recently!
Luna is convinced that she's the daughter of the moon goddess aka of Mother Moon herself, and there are some very odd things about her that make that very plausible. She looks like how you would imagine the daughter of the moon to look like, with very pale skin and very light blonde hair, she has magical powers that are charged by basking in the moonlight, she needs very little sleep as long as the moon is out, her strength is based on the moon cycle... Oh, also: Wings. Large, white wings, that don't fit in with any other humanoid creature in the world. So, nobody really has any solid evidence against it either. Well... Nobody who hasn't been to Egghead Island.
She's introduced into the story at Long Ring Long Land (I actually have two fics for that) as a part of Foxy's crew because he won her in a Davy Back Fight. Before that, she was sort of aimlessly travelling the seas with various crews, just trying to find a place to belong. Throughout the Davy Back Fight, Luna ends up befriending the Straw Hats and Luffy, being Luffy, of course won't pass up the opportunity to have someone as weird as her on their crew, so she joins!
Sanji is, of course, very enamoured with this literal goddess. Even more so than usual. Luckily for him, his charm seems to be working on Luna too. She essentially goes from "Oh, you're adorable. You're funny." to "Oh. Oh no. That's the love of my life, isn't it?", at the very latest when she sees Sanji after he absolutely decimates the people on the Sea Train.
I can't really talk too much about her because a lot of my ideas for her are very visual, but I guess I could give some more little facts? First of all, Luna is 18 and her blood group is S. You can take a look at my animanga character sketches for her here and here if you want! Her wings haven't grown to their full size yet pre-timeskip, and she molts like a bird as she grows, so whenever that happens, she's essentially grounded and chronically exhausted. And that happens around the time of Sabaody. Perfect timing, right? Also, she has to preen her wings, especially after battles, and her crewmates keep around her feathers either for practical or sentimental reasons. And in case you were wondering, of course she heads to Whole Cake Island to go after her boyfriend. Big Mom takes an interest in her, Judge wants to steal her lineage factor, it's a very fun time for everyone involved.
The Sweet Tooth: Charlotte Inari
Ah yes, sweet little Inari. Inari is Pudding's twin sister, she's also a member of the Three-Eyed Tribe and she's named after inari-zushi (if you were wondering how she fits into the Charlotte Family naming scheme). She ate the Kami Kami no Mi, Model: Shikigami, which has a very complicated way to how it works, but, essentially, it binds her to a master whose orders she has to follow and, in turn, gets special abilities from based on her master's. That master is the person who last saved her life. The problem with that situation is that she got the devil fruit when she was still very young and travelling at sea with one of her siblings, and a sea battle ensued where chaos happened and she got herself kidnapped. So, she ends up being passed around from master to master for years until finally ending up with Enel. That is, until Luffy defeats him, and she joins the Straw Hats.
Inari, being that she spent her early formative years on Totto Land, has some very interesting ideas of what's considered normal for animals, plant life, people... for everything, really. She fights with two war fans (as well as her devil fruit, of course) and knows how to play the shamisen, both of which she picked up while travelling with a crew of Wano ancestry for a while. Also, she naturally has a huge sweet tooth and loves to make sweets too. It runs in her genes.
Inari's goal while travelling with the Straw Hats at first is to get back home. She's just a kid, she wants to go home, at least to let her family know that she's okay. And her family and her friends will totally get along, right??? That's also why she doesn't fully consider herself part of the Straw Hats for the longest time. She's a member of the Big Mom Pirates, simply by birth right. However, this all gets a bit thrown on its head with the Timeskip and everything after that. Because, during the timeskip, Kuma sends her to Totto Land, and she officially joins the Big Mom Pirates. So, she has everything she has ever wanted, right? Well... She still ends up coming back. She loves her friends too much not to go back to them. And then Luffy ends up starting a war with Big Mom, which is... not ideal? Whole Cake Island is especially fun. And Wano? Oh boy!
Also... remember the special ability of the Three-Eyed Tribe? Yeah. Inari awakens her third eye when she hears the Drums of Liberation, but nobody notices and she doesn't tell anybody until the battle is long over, and even then she only tells Sanji and Robin.
The Tailor: Akaito Coraline
My dear, sweet Cora... We're entering the live action era now! Aka when everything started to escalate and I started drowning in OCs. I freaking love the live action, man... Maybe a little too much.
Anyways, Cora! Cora is the last living member of the Akaito Clan, a tailoring family from the North Blue of world-class fame who was eradicated by Germa 66 when they didn't want to work for their evil plans. Their main identifier is a sewing needle pierced through the left ear, and they can tell a person's measurements just by looking at them. Of course, there are many imposters around because Akaito-made clothes sell for a fortune, but they usually fail at these criteria. Cora was only a baby when the attack from Germa happened, so she doesn't remember anything from that day or about her family, except for her mother, who was selected as the sole adult survivor of the massacre, because she had Cora, and Judge had plans for Cora. Little did Judge know that her mother also had plans for Cora, and that she had given the baby the Akaito Clan's most prized possession: The Sew Sew Fruit (Chiku Chiku no Mi), which gives its user mastery over the entire clothesmaking process and its tools and materials.
I don't want to get too much into Cora's backstory here, but she befriended Sanji and thought that he had died, and then her mother died, she helped create and designed the Raid Suits and then she ran away with the help of Reiju at 16 years old. Afterwards, she rose to considerable fame as a tailor in the East Blue, until finally stumbling across Sanji at Baratie, the same day that the Straw Hats also show up there. Shenanigans ensue.
I think, if I were going to describe Cora's personality in only three aspects, it's trauma, kindness, and a huge double crush that she doesn't like to admit. Because not only is she wholly unprepared for Sanji being not only alive but also a pretty and charming young man, there's also a swordsman who she has to stitch back together after a big fight and who she ends up falling head over heels for. The two boys constantly bickering doesn't help much either, and they also bicker over her, constantly trying to out-boyfriend each other. In case you were wondering whose side Cora usually takes in these fights, the answer is: She joins in on the side of entertainment. Whichever side would yield the funnier result. She just thinks their fights are way too funny and stupid. Also, she's constantly touch-starved and also scared of touch. And sleep-deprived. She gets better in the "scared of touch" category over the course of her journey with the Straw Hats, so... Sleepy cuddles. So many sleepy cuddles. If Zoro's taking a nap, she's taking a nap too, no buts. And Sanji eventually ends up with his arm around her waist 90% of the time. His personal space is also her personal space.
So, uh, fighting style! She uses a rapier and keeps explaining to people that, no, she's not a swordsman, she's a fencer. There's a difference. Also, she uses strings a lot, and plagiarizes Doffy's travelling method after Dressrosa. The thing with strings and dyes and whatnot is a whole new can of worms that I won't get into right now but it's super cool.
One more fun fact: Cora is short. She's tiny. And she wears heels to compensate, which Zoro hates because they're not practical at all. Her entire fashion sense gives him minor aggressions, partially because a lot of her clothes are a lot more fashion than function, partially because she looks too damn gorgeous in them and he's constantly reminded of his embarrassing crush and has gotten so distracted by her that he has walked into tables and doorframes multiple times. Sanji, on the other hand, fully supports her fashion choices. Maybe show a little more skin next time..? Pretty please? I have concept art for her and one of the more distracting outfits :)
The Scout: "Desert Fox" Felicity
The baby of the crew. Yeah, she's younger than Chopper. Inari is already young, being 14, but Lily? Lily is twelve. Absolute baby. How did she end up with the Straw Hats? Blame it on Buggy kidnapping her and then kidnapping the Straw Hats on top, letting them bust her out with them. Nami and Zoro pretty much become her caretakers on the spot, Nami consciously and Zoro... well... Turns out he has a bit of a soft spot for little scared kids with fox ears. They bring her back home to her "sister" Kaya at Syrup Village, but then she almost gets murdered by a killer butler, and Kaya asks them to take Lily with them, so... Well, she's with them now! Only about a few days later though, one of her caretakers gets himself almost killed and the other decides to abandon the crew. Good thing that Sanji has pretty much decided to adopt her, because otherwise she'd be crying her eyes out.
Lily is actually half mink! That's where she got her fennec fox features and some of her behavioural patterns (i.e. cuddliness, switching between napping and getting the zoomies...) from. But her behaviour could just as well be caused by her devil fruit, because she ate the Jōi Jōi no Mi, which gives her emotions magical properties. Which ones? No one knows! You'll find out when it happens. Pretty much the only really predictable effect back when Lily joins the crew is that she turns back into a nonverbal five-year-old when she gets too scared. She also has a pretty good success rate of turning into a more anthropomorphic fox creature when getting into the spirit for a battle. She's a mink after all, and minks are born fighters! And in case you're wondering: Yes, she does have electro! And sharp teeth. You do not want to make her upset. Best case scenario is that she bites you, worst case is either some magical shenanigans or she starts crying and her crewmates come to kick your ass.
I haven't developed her too much beyond the first season of OPLA, but I just know that she has to go absolutely feral at Alabasta, because that's a fennec fox's natural habitat and her epithet is "Desert Fox", so it only makes sense for her to get it at Alabasta. Also, it would be peak funny for Crocodile to complain to the Marines about a literal child messing up his plans, and peak funny is also peak One Piece, so you best believe I'll do it. Also, her being this young means I get to watch her grow up over the timeskip. I imagine she maybe gets sent to Zou and starts to really master her electro and devil fruit attacks? Something along the lines of "I'm all grown up now! I have my powers under control!" and then immediately turning back into a kindergartener in the face of danger would probably be her running gag post-TS. Also, I'm so soft for her relationship with Sanji. I could go on for ages about Whole Cake Island, but I'll leave it at that for now. This post is already getting long enough...
The Matron: Dracule Aurelia
Oh boy, you're not ready for her. She's the daughter of Rayleigh and Shakky. Trans queen (thanks, Iva). Raised as a Kuja, got love sickness just like her mother and fell for a red-headed idiot first, then for a certain swordsman. Ended up marrying the swordsman in the most dramatic way possible. Also maybe the second most beautiful woman in the world, after Boa Hancock of course.
Aurelia is essentially the fusion of a mafia boss, a mob wife, and an Ancient Roman patron. She has unbelievable amounts of money and an invisible net of connections that makes her almost untouchable. She's allied with Emperors, Warlords, kings and queens... Her main deal is providing smaller, more inexperienced pirate crews with her protection and support and getting their services in return, for example as soliders, for transportation... Whatever she needs at that moment. She can be as kind as she can be cruel, and people are generally both in awe and scared of her. Her epithet is "Black Widow" both because of her spider net of connections and because all of her lovers keep mysteriously dying as if through some sort of curse. Mihawk is the only one who has been able to resist that curse. Shanks doesn't count because Aurelia claims she never truly loved him.
One of the places under her protection is Baratie, and so she gets caught up in the Straw Hats' shenanigans. First, Nami asks her for help, then she returns to Arlong ransacking the place and essentially kidnapping Nami, then she finds out that Zoro was almost killed by her husband... Also, Sanji is the closest thing to a son that she has, so Sanji joining the Straw Hats is pretty much the final nail in the coffin to her deciding on her own terms that she's going to protect those kids to the best of her ability. You can kind of imagine her as the rich aunt, but a lot more deadly. Generally, she spends a majority in the story picking up her den den mushi and going "Luffy, what did you do this time?" The boy pretty much becomes her most effective portégé when it comes to expanding her territory, because he keeps punching tyrants and asking her to put the newly freed kingdoms under her protection. She also kicks ass at Marineford, of course, helps protect the Sunny during the timeskip, and becomes decorously unhinged when Whole Cake Island comes around because of her own personal history with Big Mom and "That's my son!" and "Luffy, you are not going to kill an Emperor." - so yeah, she pretty much has to follow the Straw Hats to Wano too, lest they get themselves kicked. She's both the queen of the literal universe and the exhausted mother of a crew of literal toddlers. Or. Well. Children and one supercharged toddler who will not stop causing chaos.
Her entire backstory is so freaking great. Growing up as a Kuja, running away from home because she's mad at her mother for leaving the Kuja tribe, her very first murder of a lover who also happened to be a nobleman, her bond with Iva and speedy hormone therapy, whatever the hell was going on between her and Shanks, her relationship with Mihawk, the whole situation with Big Mom and her rules for alliances, Mihawk literally fighting for her hand in marriage, her meeting Sanji and essentially adopting him... There's a lot going on. Wish I could write it one day.
The Mechanic: Lux Jirou
Lynx boi! Kuro tricked him into thinking he had Amber Lead Snydrome but it's actually just vitiligo. Used to be a member of the Black Cat Pirates (posing as the mansion's security guard) but liked Kaya a little too much and figured out Kuro was lying, so he teamed up with the Straw Hats to take him down. Also has the worst crush on Zoro and Zoro has the worst crushback, but they're both too stupid to figure it out. He goes by Jirou while with the Black Cat Pirates but starts going only by his last name Lux once he starts rebelling. Ends up joining the Heart Pirates and working as a mechanic on the Polar Tang.
Once again, so many of my ideas for him are more visual because... big kitty! Huge freaking paws! Cuddly cat naps! Involuntary purring because he has a crush and he's a cat and... Yeah. Also, he's absolutely thriving at Punk Hazard. Lots of snow? No problem! Lynx have built-in snow shoes. Also, his devil fruit (Neko Neko no Mi, Model: Lynx), much like the dinosaur SMILEs of the Beasts Pirates, works with Zoan logic. "Lynxes can walk on snow, so they can also walk on water, right? Since water is just frozen snow. And then maybe they can walk on air too if they train hard enough? Because of the humidity?"
The Siren: Kanyalani
Also known as Kan-chan, because Luffy is not pronouncing her full name. She's a betta fish mermaid and former slave and joined the Sun Pirates after being liberated. She has a romance with Jinbe which eventually turns into a polycule with the addition of Robin and Franky when they both join the Straw Hats. Kan-chan fights with chakrams and uses Merman Combat as well as some Fishman Karate.
Now for some mermaid characteristics: Since she's a betta fish mermaid, she shares betta fish characteristics. This means that she loves her color when she's unhappy and becomes more vibrant when she is happy. She also has a unique ability. Whereas all mermaids have beautiful voices, Kan-chan's singing can lull anyone to sleep, even in the midst of battle. Also, she's over thirty, so her tail is split, but she has trouble walking, so she practically never does it. She prefers using Bubbly Corals to navigate and claims that her very frilly fin makes for bad legs anyways.
The Archer: Shimotsuki Kaede
A Kuina look alike from Ebisu Town who nearly gives Zoro a heart attack when he sees her with her mask off for the first time. The concept for this OC basically came to me in the concept of many What Ifs. What if Kuina was still alive? What if Kuina was even more gender? What if there was a flying squirrel? What if someone pulled a Robin Hood on Orochi?
So, here's Kaede. Regular Ebisu Town citizen by day, dying and mending kimonos, stealing food and shooting arrows at people by night. As Ebisu Town gets the leftovers from the Flower Capital, this also includes the half-eaten SMILEs, and Kaede had the one-in-a-million luck of one of the SMILEs, finicky things that they are, still having traces of the power it once gave. And so, she got the power of the flying squirrel SMILE, making her the "devil fruit twin" of Bao Huang. She practices kyūdō in secret and almost runs an arrow through Orochi's head after Yasuie's execution. She would've hit the bastard too if someone hadn't hit her bow and made her miss.
The Soldier: Roronoa Sonoko
Ah yes, the reason why this post took me so long... She just appeared the moment I saw the scene in OPLA where Morgan tries to get Zoro to join the Marines. Because my brain went: Y'know, what if he actually had? So, I bring to you: Zoro's sister. No, not biological sister. They're siblings the way the ASL brothers are siblings. By exchanging sake cups. They got in trouble for stealing the sake and the cups but it was all worth it. What makes the situation even funnier is that Sonoko keeps on telling people that they're not biological siblings but nobody believes her because she's pretty much Zoro's spitting image. And it's her fault, too! Because she chooses to wear those earrings (more or less, but that's a bit of a longer story) and she chooses to dye her hair green! Yes, among the thousands of people with naturally funky hair colors, Kaede is pretty much the only one who actually dyes her hair.
So yeah, she's a Marine! Freshly promoted to Ensign when Koby and Helmeppo join and Garp's protégé. Her sword training comes from Bogard but she uses Two-Sword Style, so it's more her figuring out techniques and Bogard putting up with them. That is until Garp calls on Mihawk to go catch Luffy. Hawk Eyes comes to the ship to say that he decided not to do just that and Garp, as a payment for not reporting this to the World Government, asks Mihawk to take Sonoko on as a student. Mihawk, being Mihawk, is about to remind Garp that he does whatever he wants and doesn't need a deal like that. But then he sees the spitting image of Zoro in front of him and hears the same last name - and he changes his mind. Maybe it's worth a shot?
Following that, I don't have that many ideas except that Sonoko gets a bunch of promotions, only to go AWOL to warn Mihawk of the dismantling of the Warlords system during the Reverie because, at this point, she's far more loyal to him than to the Government or the Marines. She then completely deserts and dashes to Wano to help her brother and his crew defeat Kaido. In the process of the Raid on Onigashima (possibly while protecting either Hiyori or Zoro), she loses an arm and one of her swords and is just... overcome with guilt and shame. So much so that she can't bring herself to return to Mihawk after this incredible failure. Franky does replace her arm with a robotic one and everyone is super nice and supportive to her, the samurai step in and try to reason with her, but she's completely blinded by shame and anxiety. She keeps training, of course, she keepy going, but she just doesn't see herself as worthy anymore of being the student of the World's Greatest Swordsman. But then Mihawk himself shows up at Wano, looking specifically for her and tells her that she isn't a failure, that he's proud of her for her sacrifice for her cause and, most importantly of all, because she kept going. So, all is well and she joins the Cross Guild. Maybe befriends Cabaji, I dunno.

My thoughts, re: #1126
Most of my thoughts are about Shanks and Luffy lol.
Shanks was always intended to be a major confrontation for Luffy, and he knows that. It's the promise of the hat. So I don't think it's going to come down to a question of if he's good or evil. It's about Pirate Pride. I think that Shanks believes Luffy is the one to find the One Piece, but it's only right that he defeats Roger's own student to do it.
As for Luffy? He's going to be excited to fight Shanks. I think he is completely on the same page as Shanks, and he's always understood that the hat was a promised fight. And Luffy is excited for that, to prove himself against his childhood hero? Maybe also motivated by Barto, but a 50/50 chance he understands the Red-Hair Pirates' reasoning. Barto *did* start it. Flag burning is declaration of war in this world. But also, part of growing more powerful that Luffy will need to learn in the final leg of his journey is managing his fleet, not just his crew. We get a good hint at that before the Shanks/Kidd fight in seeing the way Shanks defends those who fly under his flag, not just his main crew. And I think it's interesting that conflict happened on Elbaf, where they're heading. Might somehow help funnel Luffy towards the lesson. Luffy is an emperor now, and he's playing on a much larger stage.
I think the conflict with Shanks and Luffy will ultimately be him learning that. He already understands that his flag means something. He's given it to civilians that he wants to protect like in Wano, but that also extends to those in his fleet. He needs to defend them, and he needs to give them some kind of order. I think it'll probably fall sometime after they get the final pontigliff in Elbalf, but we'll see.
As for the ending with Nami, I always know it's going to be great break off adventure when Nami's in the group. As long as Nami and Luffy are there, I'm happy as a clam. Every other crew member plays off them perfectly. If any crew member is essential to the group dynamic outside of Luffy, it's Nami and I stand by that. Dressrosa sucked purely due to the lack of Nami. Law is a poor substitute for her as much as I love him.
Random speculating:
*Zoro and Nami are both tripping balls more than anyone else because they're the heavy drinkers in the group (we even see both them chugging the absinthe). Luffy, Usopp, Chopper, and Sanji are just desperately trying to steer the ship and probably fight without their navigator and swordsman, but I don't think if hallucinations are at play that they're particular struggling with them at this point.
*maybe we'll see Lola and her Pirates with all the Prince Loki stuff, I'd like that. Especially after Whole Cake Island.
*this entire arc for me is about that Robin/Saul reunion. Literally am only here for that. Give that woman a cowboy hat and a hug.

trimax vol 9 random thoughts
sorry if you saw this post disappear and reappear in the tag multiple times, i was fighting for my life much like wolfwood using trial and error trying to get it to even show up in the tag because tumblr is a functional website and not fucky in the slightest. </3
i wrote this post extremely sleep deprived 2 days ago let's GOOOOO
also heads up for potential spoilers for tristamp since i talk about it a little. even though i spoiled 98 untagged in my last post. sorry about that
chapter 1:
someone in the book club tag (don't remember who it was, sorry) said something about sharing food being a love language for wolfwood... :') wah...
^_^
why is this thing even on the building in the first place. and for that matter how did the dog even GET up there...... whatever
hi razlo. i don't know where to say this in the post so i'll just say now i unintentionally spoiled myself on razlo's identity because i was googling when i shouldn't have been. all totally my fault LOL [anime girl bleh gif]
the boy didn't even have the decency to wash the blood off his hands. kid, please, you're not doing livio any favors here.
livio manspreading on the couch... chapel, have you considered there's another reason why livio's breathing might be "irregular" as he helps you take his former home hostage? hmmm?
^ FUNNIEST PIECE OF DIALOGUE IN THE WHOLE VOLUME
thank god for livio, this guy was doing a speedrun on being the most annoying one-off minor villain--WAIT is he kicking him with his hands in his pockets? that's SO funny. i'm liking livio more and more.
chapter 2:
"he shouldn't be that old" <- the kids would be expecting wolfwood to be, hmmm, in his early 20s, thereabouts? ww looks around a decade older than that...
he's giving... something here. it's the combo of the glasses and all-white outfit i think. the y2k fashion vibe.
who is saying this? livio? razlo? both? chapel, since he was the one just talking? also, nice visual metaphor!
this is obviously NOT the reason wolfwood spared these guys, but this is reminding me of when oda said that luffy doesn't kill his opponents because shattering their dreams is worse than death. LOL
also i am convinced nightow drew this chapter for the sole purpose of making wolfwood do cool shit on his motorcycle.
that being said, all the cool shit wolfwood does is immediately overshadowed by livio CATCHING A BOMB IN MIDAIR AND THROWING IT BACK AT THE GUY WHO SHOT IT. stampede livio could never do this, he's too skinny
chapter 3:
people have already said stuff about this page, but I Also Want To Say Stuff. the wispiness of the smoke, livio's hair blowing in the wind... it feels very much like the calm before the storm, simultaneously serene and tense. and i LOVE how wolfwood is shaded in grey, while livio is the one shaded in black. fantastic contrast and composition, i adore it.
why is this razlo's first note to livio. "!" like...?! you're letting livio know you exist, but giving literally no other information like at all? okay. razlo's a bit of an oddball, to put it mildly.
the rest of his letters are... well they're not "normal," i guess, and not any less cryptic, but they are kinda sweet in their own way.
knowing who razlo is i love the way his introduction scene is presented. livio is keeping information from ww and from the reader, so it's both literal and not. also razlo is appropriately unsettling, i wish he would stop... unhinging his jaw like that.
...also who tf told him about EoM?! this is a difference with stampede... stamp!livio joined EoM because he wanted to follow wolfwood. no razlo involved in the decision-making, as far as we know. compared to here in the manga, livio left the orphanage on his own, so there isn't really a clear timeline on when ww joined EoM vs when livio did. we don't even know if he knew ww was in EoM at all.
also upon rewatching this scene for this post i got distracted by legato's lack of ass and had to pause because i was laughing too much
the guy is literally flat as a board help
*cough* anyway. razlo is only alluded to and never named or even really shown, except for a very brief very blurry reflection, so his level of involvement in... literally everything is unknown.
speaking of characters who are weirdly absent, chapel isn't around either...? i thought maybe they combined his character with conrad, but he DOES speak in livio's memory, i even checked the credits for his seiyuu. (hiroshi naka - he voices a lot of old men but most notably garp from one piece!) i don't really know how his role in all this has changed, if at all, since conrad seems to be the one in charge of the experiments...? and i really... do not like what they did with conrad in stampede, he went from being shitty but having nuance to just being extra shitty... okay, tangent over.
oh, this fight is so WEIGHTY!! i love it!! they gave a lot of weight and physicality to the livio vs ww fight in stampede too, (and all the fights, for that matter), despite stamp!livio's loss of bulk... it's a really fun fight to watch!
chapter 4:
OHHH..... okay.... soooooo.... this means he's coming back in stampede season 2 i assume?
not to go off on another tangent but this is the second time this has happened to me... i went into stampede more or less blind (oh how things change) and so when knives died at the end of the season I HAD NO REASON TO BELIEVE HE WASN'T DEAD... but then i saw people talking like he would come back in season 2 and i was like, "how?? he DIED" and then i read the manga and i was like oh. and now with livio too. i thought he served his narrative purpose and then died. and he shot himself through the head, which is notable because that's how ww killed monev who was ALSO a subject of EoM's experiments in the tristamp universe!! so i had no reason to believe he wasn't dead!!
i dont have that much to say about this chapter because it mostly consists of the fight, but OH what a fight it is...!! i know i should be rooting for wolfwood, and i am, but livio is just so COOL in this fight. they're both cool...!!!
also, how many little glass vials(tm) does wolfwood have?! honestly, it's amazing that he still has any at all left to drink, it's a wonder they haven't all shattered already with how much he's been thrown around. especially because the one he drinks from CRACKS when it hits the ground... these vials aren't exactly bulletproof, lol.
THE HUG...?! UUUEEEEAAHGHGHHGH
MESSAGE TO ALL BITCHES ughhh ww looks so pained here. when he told vash that his blood runs cold when he points his gun at livio... he's feeling that through this whole volume. man.
something about brothers fighting each other... vash and knives, wolfwood and livio... uagh.
chapter 5:
HEY CAN WE KILL CHAPEL ALREADY??
oh, the punisher is taller than him... i was trying to get an approximation of relative character heights recently, and i saw somewhere that the punisher is 5'7, the same height as me...
also, 10 punishers, huh... wolfwood's is one, razlo has three... does chapel's count even though it has a different design...? do livio's handguns count? will we see the others? is there even a significance to the number...?
oh great, is this another wolfwood death flag?! we haven't seen him drink THAT many of them so far but still. hope chapel keels over already. i know ww's making an effort not to kill people but can he please just shoot chapel in the head. also wolfwood's pose in that panel... he's kinda serving cunt
OH, THIS SPREAD FUCKS!!!! once again the CONTRAST... THE STARK BLACK AND WHITE... SO COOL!!!
so these guys work for razlo specifically, i assume? not livio? also... just who are they? random EoM goons?? why are they so loyal to razzy???
and he has a mechanical third arm. somehow. sure okay
^ um... trigun lol [roll credits]
oh, it's tri-p as in tri-punisher. i thought it was the word "trip" and didn't question it. ...although "trip" could still work.
--also, wait, hold on, upon rereading i noticed razlo's left ear is covered up (by... something) and it's making his head shape look uncanny (more like a skull?!) and now i have to scroll back through the previous chapters to see if livio has ears. [several minutes of scrolling later] okay, he DOES have a right ear. okay. another pointless diversion for this post
chapter 6:
razlo was a real one for killing livio's shitty parents!
also another thing i'm noticing! razlo opens his mouth pretty wide, while livio doesn't open his mouth much at all... i mean okay there are a ton of differences in physicality between the two of them, but that one in particular stands out to me because last volume i complained that i couldn't tell when livio was talking because he never opens his mouth LOL
spraying wolfwood with blood and guts is a fucking wild battle tactic bro. also i'm convinced that nightow gave razlo three punishers for the cool factor first and foremost. three crosses also brings the scene of jesus's crucifixion to mind... but nahhhh it's definitely the cool factor. unless...?
"killing and violence! killing and violence! :D"
ALSO CAN CHAPEL DIE ALREADYYYY PLEASE
VASH MENTIONED!!! i'm so caught up in wolfwood's story rn that i haven't even really thought about the fact that vash isn't present in this volume at all... and then it evolves into a fucking. memory montage. stop with the montage please that's another death flag
and... oh man... wolfwood getting back up to fight because he's thinking of vash... and last volume vash said wolfwood is his reason to fight... both of them staring death in the face and thinking of each other... oh my god. ohhhh my fucking god. oh my fuckign god you guys. VASHWOOD.
oh, looks like i lied when i said vash isn't in this volume, he's right here
...and that ends that volume. i said more than i thought i would... sorry for the rambles and tangents, i wrote this post running on about 3 hours of sleep lol. time for something lighter as i await next week's volume, let me continue to rewatch the 98 anime... what episode was i up to... ahh... 22, huh...
#trigunbookclub#trigun talk#june speaks#FIGHTING FOR MY LIFEEEEE#i'm still kinda sleep deprived but don't worry about it

one piece elbaf and final war theories
a labor of love i’ve been working on
i'll keep adding to this as the story goes on to keep everything in one place easier
- not sure how i feel about this now since it seems vegapunk is dead dead but bonney potentially being able to reverse his age to a time before he got hurt (like eri from mha)
- saturn death and catarina devon
- garling wolf yokai
-man with/of burn scar
- grim reaper zoro saw
- loki bounty
- kids crew
- law joins the cross guild
- norse mythology and sun god lore maybe a dune situation where the older giants believe in nika but the younger ones don’t (loki could go either way depending on age)
- introduction of a moon god parallel to sun god (maybe kid 👀 with his magnetism)
- luffy weak to darkness
- shanks won’t be on elbaf
- all blue on elbaf
- giant straw hat explained (i believe the last road poneglyph is in mariejois along with joy boys body in that storage freezer imu was in) regarding this:
could all of joyboys crew have had straw hats and the giant straw hat imu has in storage is actually emets hat and when emet attacked those hundreds of years ago imu kept it and maybe it also has some sort of haki imbued in it
- loki devil fruit possibilities
lunarian devil fruit
- loki, kid and kalgara tattoo similarities if you squint
- kid IS ALIVE AND NOT in jail maybe allied with loki before ragnarok or he’s a new loki. he’s already been imprisoned once so i don’t really see him getting imprisoned again so i think he could be safe on land after washing ashore/one of his crew saving him/or the spirit of his ship saving him (i will defend my man to the death)
- learning more about kid and his devil fruit especially if he will be revealed as an elbaf moon god to parallel luffys sun god. kid could possibly turn his devil fruit awakening into something like gojo's red and blue ability and effectively have his own form of limitless where no one can touch him
- kid’s devil fruit could demagnetize islands and blow them up (he destroys the red line perhaps)
- kid uses big sword in elbaf
- saul is the man marked by flames + we get info on the ohara books
- void century reveal this arc
- regarding the mother flame
brooks crew killed by rocks and god valley getting wiped from the face of the world was one of the first tests of the mother flame and that’s what the hole under enies lobby is and possibly where the one piece is
mother flame doesn’t destroy islands it sinks them
luffy gear 5 flames
lunarians and joyboy
gear 5 siphoning out the mother flame
- giant beasts of elbaf reveal zunesha is from elbaf along with joyboy (could be that all humans originally came from elbaf and they just kept shrinking or something lol)
- the adam and/or eve tree on elbaf similar to yggdrasil
- nine realms… maybe the five elders and imu come from another realm (actual devils/demons) my other posts about this:
if devil fruits indeed exist because of dreams maybe the devil fruits imu and the gorosei have are made from nightmares
raven and i discussing it
sabo translation
five elders are genetically engineered to be demons or are actual demons who possibly along with imu came from another world
five elders made of ropes of haki created by imu similar to vegapunk satellites
- i think enel could return in elbaf and he has uranus
- what the world government has could just be a weapon powered by the mother flame not uranus exactly but it’ll lead to a power struggle for uranus once they realize uranus is back on “earth” (using earth for lack of a better name for the planet one piece takes place on)
- rematch between enel the moon god and luffy the sun god
- no way enel can come close to luffy in terms of power so potentially an awakened enel vs kid fight 👀👀 magnets vs electricity
- enel is from birka (a sky island) also the name of an ancient city on the moon
- birka was a viking trade post and elbaf is based heavily in norse mythology
- urouge return to get revenge on enel for destroying birka
- while we don’t know which sky island urouge is from he has birkan wings
- this rematch leads to ragnarok aka the final war and ties to the destruction of fishman island and mariejois
—end of elbaf leading into the final war arc—
- this is mostly for my oc but the blood blood fruit will be real
- mentioning blood: buccaneer blood and blood types
- fujitora blinding himself reason he survives/retires or joins revolutionary army?
- here’s a list of gimme theories everyone has said that i think can or could be possible during this arc:
robin haki, joyboy has the eyepatch, will of d explanation, dragon devil fruit reveal (probably wind or weather related), blackbeard and rocks explained, the grand fleet big reveal of what they do that changes the world, revolutionary army (including all the pirates [not blackbeard] and cross guild) vs marines/world government, dragon and shanks vs garling, sabo vs akainu, ancient weapons are chekhovs gun they will be used, complete void century reveal and flashback, crocodile secret revealed, major cross guild marine death, law using the immortality surgery another chekhovs gun, shanks and red hair pirates death and sacrifice including yasopp dying to save usopp and shanks dying at blackbeards hand before luffy can return the straw hat
- balls to the walls theories: brook riding laboon into battle at the final war, davy back fight with luffy and shanks, shanks evil twin, buggy becomes king of the world on imus throne lol another failing up instance, perona and the cross guild
- reveal that a brain wiping tool was used before
- akainu and dragon past
- shakky could be silver axe from rocks crew
- luffys mom
- impel down breakout 2 electric boogaloo doffy is back baybee
- shalria being an ally
- bonney joining revolutionary army and taking her moms post
- regarding seraphim:
hancock (this one is already confirmed but i think she’ll be back for the final war)
potential ace seraphim
luffy seraphim
- luffys gear 5 flames power tech from the void century and maybe reveal something at mariejois
- sanji fighting warcury (flames) brook fighting nusjuro (ice)
- power of imagination
luffy drinking the 200M of water
- what if nefertari lily was the original op op fruit user and did the perpetual youth surgery on imu (they were in a relationship and Something Soured aka imu wanted power or something) and that's why she mysteriously vanished and why imu keeps a giant portrait of her in the butterfly garden
- operating under the assumption the immortality surgery works like boa hancocks devil fruit (new users can’t undo statues she’s made) law can’t undo imus immortality but he can use it for someone else and maybe that’s what causes imus to immortality to go away. something like only one immortal can exist at the same time
- world government is done with only a few marines left coby to lead them as a “better and good” marines (no such thing but 🙄 it’s fiction i guess)
- final road poneglyph is found in mariejois
- poneglyphs mention a dream hence why robin looked shocked at luffys dream
- luffy, buggy and blackbeard are the 3 racing for laugh tale and the one piece
- blackbeard will force pudding to reveal information about rocks crew from memories of someone who knows the rock pirates
- luffy vs buggy at first then luffy vs blackbeard, zoro vs mihawk, sanji or robin vs crocodile, nami vs buggy or laffitte or catarina devon, robin vs catarina devon or laffitte, chopper vs doc q, usopp vs van augur after van augur killed yasopp, franky or jinbe vs burgess, brook vs vasco shot
- laugh tale is the last arc with the one piece reveal then ending
- luffy final bounty 5.6 billion
- luffy’s dream
- no epilogue or time skip for straw hat deaths i don’t want to see them die so i’m pretending it doesn’t exist
- arcs i’d like to see: lodestar being a wild west themed island and emerald city being a wizard of oz themed island
I think the final shot will be a recreation of this volume cover :')

Hello!! Could you please do what it would be like to date Luffy?? He's my favorite character and I loved your Zoro headcanons!!
— tysm for requesting !! i've recently came back from my trip and still recovering from my mental breakdown lol, so writing for luffy aka my son is all i need <3 i hope it brings you joy and light ⋆˙⟡♡ i have other requests in my box and i promise to do them all, i won't let you down !!
ʜᴇᴀᴅᴄᴀɴᴏɴ : monkey d luffy's guide to relationship (check out roronoa zoro's guide here and here if you're interested)
dating monkey d luffy would include :
endless, countless and heartfelt laughters. luffy is an outgoing and fun person to be around. he's always having fun on the way of making his dream come true, making each day bright and sunny. he won't be trying that hard to make their s/o laugh, his authenticity, fearlessness and lack of danger estimation would do the trick. but expect him to yell his s/o's name everytime he pulls a prank or tests his flexibility by making funny faces. if his s/o happens to be sad, he would also try his best to cheer them up by first, making them laugh to forget about their worry. when in bed with his s/o, he would let soft and intimate laughs escape his throat when talking to them or listening to their stories. laughing is an intimate and loving act according to luffy's guide.
physical touch. luffy's a sucker for hugs, tender gestures and pdas!! he has no shame hugging his friends like a koala, but with his s/o?? they would barely be able to breath lmao. luffy would sleep with his arms fully wrapped around his s/o's back, with his chin on the top of their head, sometimes, he would sleep on top of them with his whole weight just to show "how much he loves them", or with his head on their lap. anyway, luffy’s s/o is always at arms length thanks to his ability, much to his delight. the boy's clingy, but so adorable and natural about it. however, if their s/o needs some space, luffy would understand, although a bit saddened, so expect him to ask for a hug when they're ready. if their s/o really hates physical touch, it would be difficult for luffy to adjust (he's just a big soft plushie please take care of my baby)
receiving random compliments at random times. luffy's very honest and genuine, and even though he lacks real communication skills, he never lies. therefore, if he sees their s/o with a new outfit and he finds it nice, he will vocalize it in his words. "your coat is brown like a juicy steak, it looks tasty! you should wear it more often", "your hair looks like a cloud this morning", "your eyes sparkle like lasers!!".
him being involved in his s/o's hobbies/occupations. luffy is naturally curious. people often feel like he is pestering and "in the way", which can hurt his feelings, but he is genuinely interested in his friends' activities. he has so much admiration for them. but with his s/o? luffy would not only pester and ask what they're doing, he would also be trying to learn alongside them, with stars in his eyes. if their s/o's a fighter and fighting with a particular weapon or style, luffy would sit quietly and watch for some time, clapping his hands and feet at any random movements from their body, before joining and mimicking. if their s/o was reading or doing anything more intellectual or academic, luffy would sit by them, his arms crossed on the table and his head on top and listen to them talk and tell about what they're learning. if his s/o is patient and pedagogical, he would be so happy and confident enough to ask questions. he will then brag to usopp and chopper about his recent learnings with confidence and pride, saying how "(your name) taught me!!" (he will also turn around to his s/o to check if what he's saying is correct). it is very important for luffy to know what his s/o is doing and what they like, and for them to share their activities together. because on luffy's part, he would include his s/o in every single thing, even on shenanigans with usopp and chopper if they'd like.
hungry kisses and messy makeout sessions. the first kiss with luffy was soft, quick and intimate: a simple peck on the lips. also, at the beginning of the relationship, they were few, as the captain is more of a hugger. however, when his s/o would explain luffy that kisses could involve tongue, dear lord. luffy got insatiable. with his first french kiss, the move of his tongue got so messy he let some drool escape from his lips, trailing out from his s/o's lips. he also accidently bit his s/o's bottom lip so hard it stayed swollen for a couple of days. luffy would take note on his s/o's preferences and always surprise them with that one kiss that would leave them out of breathe and shaky. during make out sessions, not only his tongue would be insatiable, but his hands as well. this boy cannot stand still, he would trail his hands all over his s/o's body, especially the inside of their thighs or their ass. oftenly, after pulling away from his lips, he would look at his s/o's eyes and say "more" before diving in again.
aside from the messy kisses from heated and hungry make outs, luffy's kisses are always spontaneous and playful. he's hanging from the chandelier with his legs around it? he'll grow his head down just he can peck his s/o's lips. his kisses are never calculated or protocolar, they're just like his sweet personality. he would try to kiss you when you eat to "taste your food", claiming that it tasted better.
learning to communicate. luffy is not a complete moron, but his communication skills and social awareness may not be the best. their s/o will have to use patience in order to have a meaningful conversation about their intimate feelings or their relationship in general. luffy is a good listener to his s/o, however, his responses are not always fitting to the matter at hand, sometimes even immature. nevertheless, luffy is a willing person, especially with his s/o. he would try his best providing more fitting responses to his s/o's matters and expressing his needs as well, especially if he feels he has been saddened by their behaviour.
entrusting him and reassuring him. of course, luffy is a confident person, not only in his skills, but also in his dream of being the King of the Pirates. however, if their s/o does not vocalize their trust in his dream, skills or character, luffy would be saddened and pouty. it could trigger his jealousy. he is the captain of a fantastic crew with fantastic people and he feels entrusted with that role, but the one trust and validation he needs is from his s/o. if their s/o compliments him or refer to him as "future King of the Pirates", he would be beaming so hard and brag about it a little.
having a number one fan and devoted partner. luffy loves all of his crewmates and would do anything for them. but his s/o is special. he would always cheer them up, be their cheerleader, talk about them at any given times (a little like tom holland with zendaya lol), protect them from the smallest ant, raise them high. he will always stand for them. if his s/o's in danger, the smallest hint of common sense hidden in his brain gets completely lost and he goes feral. he won't let anything happen to his s/o, before letting anything happen to his dream. his dream is with their s/o: there's no Pirate King with his s/o, no matter what. losing his brother already broke his heart, and he knows losing his s/o will hurt the same, so he does not let anything happen to them. <3
he's the definition of a golden retriever boyfriend, but i feel like he would rather eat from your plate than giving you his lmao. he won't mind sharing with you, but he would enjoy stealing food from your plate.

strawhats and bending elements for this au:
Luffy - water
Zoro - earth
Nami - water
Usopp - fire
Sanji - earth
Chopper - non-bender (reindeer)
Robin - non-bender
Franky - non-bender
Brook - air
Jinbei - non-bender (fishman)
little bit more explanation under the cut
Luffy
my man cannot turn water into ice or fog and doesn't have the strongest control in the world, but in terms of raw power? pretty fucking strong
to be clear, he can manipulate ice, fog, snow, etc. but he can't alter whatever form it's already in. Nami gets a headache if she thinks about it too long
learned a little bit of waterbending from Shanks, but never really had a teacher
Zoro
strong earthbender with much better control than Luffy
can only bend earth
metal, sand, gems- nothing. he is very much a one trick rock pony
he only learned the basics from his village's earthbending teacher and devoted a majority to his time to swordsmanship so. yeah
Zoro doesn't even know what the hell sandbending is until they get to Alabasta
Nami
one of the few strawhats to have a formal teacher and learn more than the basics
Bellemere was a great teacher. but. yknow.
Nami learned most of what she knows from waterbending books and scrolls that she stole over the years from other pirates and rich people. And she's learned a lot compared to the other strawhats.
To keep this brief-ish, she's practically a master at waterbending, save for healing. For the life of her, she couldn't really get the hang of it and none of the scrolls or books she had picked up over the years were at all helpful in explaining it. She's still working on it.
The unfortunate part of this is, while she has great control and precision over her bending, her power is... lacking. Which is where the 'practically a master' vs. 'an actual master' distinction becomes important lol
Due to amazing forethought, Nami is perceived by the outside world as a non-bender. Even some of her enemies think she's a non-bender. Nami really doesn't want people to know how good she is at waterbending because that would make her more of a threat and her pretty little heart wouldn't be able to take it if her bounty increased, Robin, so could you do her a big favour-
Usopp
christ where do i begin
the only firebender in Syrup Village. Yasopp is a known pirate and firebender.
Usopp never had a firebending teacher. He did, however, have ample amounts of earth and water benders to watch from afar. He taught himself bending, in a way that works for him. It is far from traditional firebending, but hey it works.
Somewhere along the line- maybe around Loguetown or after- he learns that firebenders really can shoot lightning and it wasn't just a myth. He blows himself up a lot trying to create it on his own before some lady on an island they stop at explains the right way to do it and demonstrates. Usopp still blows himself up, but now his form is correct.
While the other strawhats tend to weave their bending into their fighting styles somehow- or at least use it to aid them in battle from time to time, like with a boost into the air via rock- Usopp never uses his bending in a fight. He likes his bending and all, but he's the sniper and he has a bag of explosives on him so uh. No.
one day, post-Wano, Usopp has a really good day before bending practice and accidentally discovers his ability to combustion bend. He doesn't know it's combustion bending though, because all that comes out are little sparks of fire, like a sparkler. No one else knows either and he just uses it as a party trick.
Sanji
dear god this one is gonna be. AA.
all of the Vinsmokes are earthbenders. Sora is not. Sanji is.
After escaping onto the Orbit, Sanji decided the best way to never be found again would be to never bend again. Ever. (also because those 3 bastards and Judge were earthbenders and Sanji hated them)
He had an earthbending teacher, but anything that wasn't a superhuman feat was deemed a failure so Sanji never actually learned shit from that teacher. He also just wanted to cook all the time, so he never practiced.
Point is, when he's stuck on that rock with Zeff, he has the power and control to lift a rock, but nothing heavier than something he could physically carry himself.
Zeff is a non-bender. While the Baratie has it's fair share of benders, Sanji is Zeff's son and when Zeff offered to teach him how to fight one day, what was Sanji to do other than accept?
Sanji never told Zeff he was an earthbender, but he had a feeling Zeff knew anyway.
Sanji never told his crew he was an earthbender either. This was less of him actively hiding it and more out of habit. He loved them, but he didn't really see a need to explain it to them when it didn't matter. He wouldn't see his 'family' again and he could fight just fine without it anyway-
[Whole Cake]
Sanji: Hm. Hm™
He reveals he's an earthbender post-WCI. Zoro forces him to learn the basics and also adamantly insists that he knew the truth the whole time (he didn't. he's embarrassed). Zoro starts saying some super smug stuff now, like "is that any way to talk to your teacher?" and related lines. Think Zoro's thing about ranking and always insisting he's above Sanji and now that he's got the opportunity, he's gonna enjoy every moment.
(He's also gonna have some kind of earthbending specialty, but I haven't decided yet. Leaning towards metalbender though.)
Sanji faces the firebender rumours instead of Usopp. Both of them are incensed by this bc Sanji wants people to think he's a non-bender still (connection to Zeff) and Usopp is just mad people don't think he's a firebender (quite literally his own fault).
Chopper
always thought bending was cool even if he couldn't do it
Doctor Hiriluk was a non-bender too. Sometimes the two of them would talk and make up impossible scenarios that benders might do and laugh their heads off.
Doctor Kureha is an earth bender. She isn't a metalbender, but everyone besides Chopper thinks she is.
Robin
she comes from a long line of waterbenders, but she and her mother were both non-benders.
The scholars on Ohara were benders of all types and specialties. Fire, Earth, Water, Air all living in harmony and all that. Real shame. Anyway.
Because of Nami's "i'm totally a non-bender teehee" scheme, Robin has become the "strawhat's waterbending witch" that some people spread rumours about. The gist is that Nami begged her to help and Robin thought it'd be fun. Misleading people with her ability and those rumours never gets old.
Franky
non-bender in a family of 1) a fishman, 2) a mermaid, and 3) Iceburg (annoying waterbender his age)
Water 7 is known for a majority of their people being waterbenders. The Franky Family is mostly made up of non-water benders.
Franky didn't really care about figuring out bending as much when he was younger and after the Sea Train incident and he built himself back up, he couldn't bend a thing. He doesn't really know if he just fucked himself up hard enough he couldn't bend anymore or if he never could bend in the first place. He doesn't really care though, too busy being Super!
A lot of outsiders think Franky is an earthbender, specifically a metalbender, because of his whole cyborg thing. Also the no shoes thing. After joining the strawhats, the metalbender thing sort of holds up, especially post-timeskip with his General Franky.
There are also groups of people who are like "this guy is from Water 7, are you kidding? he's a waterbender for sure." They also point to the fact that he's always wearing a speedo and thus always ready to get wet.
The rumours are pretty funny to listen to and he and Robin love to just hang out on an island incognito (or as much as Franky is capable) and just listen to rumours about themselves and laugh about it. They share what they hear with the crew too.
Brook
he doesn't use his bending often, but there are occasions; can do loads of funny little tricks that he taught himself during That Time. He's also quite good at propelling his body high into the air for surveillance.
Not exactly a master airbender, but does have the basics down, like Zoro. There are attempts to mimic Sanji's Sky Walk- more for entertainment and curiousity than anything- with varying levels of success (Brook kicks himself too high, doesn't kick at the right time, etc)
Learned about 'gliding suits' (created after he died) and refuses to ever wear one. Adamant that if he must wear traditional airbending clothing, it's flowy stuff or nothing. (he's shy about form fitting clothing being too close to the skin. well, not that he has any-)
Jinbei
literally the exact same. Fishmen can do all the same things in canon, but they cannot be benders. Reason being: every single one of them is uhh, hmm. best way to say this is waterbenders, but to the left.
Fishmen can manipulate water with their hands but only if they're touching the element itself; they can't turn it to ice or anything like that, but the tradeoff is the immense amount of power and precise control they can more easily learn than humans... or smth like that
honestly, Jinbei's just here to chill in this au and probably unintentionally give Luffy bad waterbending advice (it's advice for Fishman Karate which isn't the same, but it's pretty close right? And Luffy keeps asking and insisting he teach him, and well, who is Jinbei to say no? Surely, Franky, who came to watch, will tell him if he's giving the wrong idea-)
Nami yells at both of them. Then yells at Franky because of his waterbender conspiracy theorists.
#opbauwriting#one piece#*realizes i never wrote out my bending headcanons for each of them* oh shit-#ANYWAY listen High Tide by kurgaya is a great great fic and i love it lots and it is pretty much the sole reason i made this blog lmao#i am just. filled with so many thoughts of domestic bending uses with the blorbos#ideally i'll make this into a fic with Chopper interviewing all of them about it. but for now i wanna have a short post for this#also i love robin don't get me wrong but i just don't have much for her in this au kdjfhdfg#Jinbei advice: just grab it / Luffy: just grab it? / Jinbei: yes / Luffy: okay- ahhhhhh *loses all his strength*#anywho theres a bunch more but i wanna turn those into fics or art (or both) and its getting late so. another time#if i had to give Franky an element it would be Air but like.#i find it much more amusing for him to be a non-bender that nobody believes is a non-bender lmao#ah who knows. i might change it in the future

Lol you ready for this? Its long. So I have an oc that I made originally for the specific reason to fuck Doflamingo. Its not me directly doing it so it's fine Lol. I might be horny but i gotta draw a line. But I got Waaay to carried away with this and made my oc fuck my 3 main blonde simps (Spoilers up until post dressrosa idk where you are so warning) here's how it happens
So remember when Dof was in Jaya while the strawhats were in Skypiea? Remember that. My character, who I named a weird name so I'll just call them Z, is from Skypiea. As the strawhats go up, he gets, for lack of a better word, thrown down by Enel. Z is blood related to the Shandia (the tribe from skypiea). He basically was pissed and threw himself at Enel early to try and kill him and got royally fucked up. Then was just dropped of the edge and proceeded to fall the 20 thousand ft down through the different layers all the way down until a little before he hit the normal ocean. Cut to Doflamingo, leaving Jaya, loud scream getting closer and closer. Everyone looks up and there is a person falling out of the sky. Buffalo stopped Z in the air and then released, Z falls the rest of the way and lands literally right infront of Dof and smashes into the ground. Z then in a delirious rage, completely fucked up stands up saying some shit like "ILL BURN THAT GOD ALIVE!" and then passes out.
Doflamingo: lol ima keep it
Z is a freak might I add, and at this point, not normal at all. He also truly has no idea what the world is like since they only were ever in Skypiea. Dof takes advantage of this of course and molds him into his vicious personal hitman. (Of course they fuck that was the point of this lol) So Z gets sent out on these long ass missions to hunt down anyone dof says to, doing this earns him the title of "Doflamingo's Hell Hound" since his thing was hunting donw people who thought they got away and 'dragging them back to hell'. The last time Z is sent out he comes back to a now destroyed dressrosa just days after luffy kicked dofs ass. So...now he's just alone?
That being said he tracks down the strawhats lol. But not for revenge, he literally has no idea who to ask about what happened and "why not ask the bigger fish" he thinks. Cut to when he eventually find them, shit gets angsty. Now he's learning all the shit that was blatantly kept from his knowledge. Sure Z was already killing for dof, but what do you mean all the toys were real people and an unimaginable number of people were suffering from so many different angles? So he now learns the whole truth and is devastated. attempts to unalive self right infront of the strawhats. Of course they don't let that happen tho, you know these guys. So now he's really lost. Z then spends like 3 months with these idiots, every stop hes like "alright im leaving" And then for an unforseen reason continues to stick around. This is when Z gets a taste of love from another blonde. Sanji
(Notes: Z is transmasc, and if you didn't know Dofs fav food is Lobster, so I just say he's a seafood person) Z never asked for anything ever, so he basically ate whatever was given to him, if at all, his whole time with dof and into his time with the strawhats. Z barely eats and will avoid the kitchen because of it but Sanji won't let anyone go hungry so he trys over and over to get Z to eat an actual portion for his size. Then one day Sanji makes some meat and Z finally gets a whiff and is like.."what smells so good?" Turns out Z loves meat, luffy level type meat lover. He, without realizing it, hasn't had a single bite of anything besides seafood for now years! Now Z is eating and sobbing at how good the food is every meal; and now he won't leave sanji alone. Z spends a lot of time just hanging out while Sanji cooks, asks to try anything and everything since he wants to now explore the world that was unknowingly denied to him. Sanji slowly is falling head over heels, but fighting it cause "I'm not gay I swear" lol. But Z just looks at him one day and says "well...it's not gay if you don't want I to be, i wont say it is" and that was truly all Sanji needed to hear lol. They fuck like once, but their relationship is just entirely romantic sweet tooth rotting fluff where Sanji unknowingly mends Zs abused heart by giving him the complete opposite from what he was used to. But these two never label themselves. The enjoy each others company and sanjis already panicing about a label, plus Z dont care, so they just exist together for this time until the day comes where Z leaves his temporary home with the strawhats. Sanji now sad as hell, but Z basically tells him he made him love life again and promised to see sanji again someday. reluctant as he was, they let each other go.[Something something if you love someone let them go?] Yeah Z never says It but he is fighting some deep turmoil where he's like "if dof breaks out of prison, he's gonna be pissed and I will not put that on the people who changed my life so im leaving now for real before i marry the guy fighting bisexuality" yea sanji and Z really could have had something if Z had been told that Dof really, truly, stood no chance against Luffy in the slightest anymore, but anytime he asked how dof got beaten all he ever heard was, "yea luffy kicked his ass, it was pretty crazy" so he never really knew that until later when he put two and two together himself
Alright, next blonde! Z now is a wanderer looking for an outlet for his.."talents" you don't kill for a warlord and not come out of it good at the task Okay so this is where my brain hasn't created yet, I'm still actively building this self indulgence story so I'm working on it lol Somehow he ends up with the Revolutionary Army and joins them. he hits it off with everyone, really fits in to well, and when he mentions he spent some time with the strawhats that only makes things easier, now step in ✨️Sabo✨️ these two are both unhinged, yes, but it's like they pass back and forth a braincell and when one is crazy the other is the anchor in that moment and vice-versa. They "friends-to-lovers style" there way into a relationship where they only acknowledge that they are together way after they realize, "oh shit are we dating?" And that leads to Z finally spilling how he feels like he betrayed Dof despite everything and that he couldn't live with himself if someone he cared about got hurt cause of his past. But you know Sabo, he's not even slightly worried about it, and basically explains to Z that if a specific 10ft tall pink bastard with sunglasses tried anything, the entirety of the Revolutionary Army would definitely not have an issue stopping that; Especially if Dof was alone. This is the first time Z has ever had someone say they would protect him (but if he had said something with the strawhats you know they would have made that clear) so now happy ending for him, he's living now and in a real relationship.
To summarize:
Doflamingo: man who already thinks himself a God sees a "fallen angel" fall right infront of him and he said "Profit!"
Sanji(along with the rest of the strawhats): brought the Light back to this poor bastards life and showed him that life is worth it (aw ☺️)
Sabo(along with the Revolutionary army) gave him a home, familiarity, and a good cause to fight for while simultaneously directing his skills into.
So that's how I made my 1 oc fuck the psycho blonde, the people pleasing blonde, and the unhinged blonde lmao
Ask anonymously? Nah
I’d take a bullet for Z he’s my actual hero

I really dislike that opla only had Zoro tired up in the marine base for like a single day or so. it's more impactful in the manga with it being nine days without food and water. it's a parallel to Sanji's backstory of starvation and like yeah Sanji went way longer without food than Zoro but them suffering from a lack of food for any amount of time highlights that they've been through similar things. the Netflix change really takes all of that away.
ALSO. I don't remember which video it was but in one of your youtube vids about them, you talked a lot about Sanji telling Zoro it's easy to give up on his dreams during the fight with Mihawk and that's just not in the live action show at all unfortunately. Sanji doesn't even witness that fight and it! drives me crazy! he wasn't there at all and it takes away such a good character moment for him
and Gin is only in one (1) single scene and Luffy doesn't get to fight Don Krieg but whatever I digress
My friend said the only reason they tied Zoro up at all was so they could put the shot in the trailer and make us think this is Zoro's first appearance, and I agree wholeheartedly cause there was literally no reason for him to get tied up in this version lol. He was just there for like, 5 mins before Luffy got him out. It was so nothing dfghjkd
And yeah I was told Sanji doesn't even witness the Zoro/Mihawk fight which is so funny cause like...where tf was he?? Was he too busy waiting tables to just look outside?? LMAO

do you think making the power system based on fire a bit shortsighted? Like I kinda get it thematically and how it is supposed to connect to the infernals and all but eh, not sure myself tbh
Not shortsighted, just not taken to its logical conclusions.
I admit that using fire as a way to manipulate the laws of physics is a smart storytelling choice: I enjoyed how it led to different ways for Shinra and Sho to both do pretty much the same thing.
The problem is Ohkubo then exaggerates this not to a logical conclusion but to a storybreaking one: it turns the world into a cartoon.
“But it is the climax to the story, of course you can break the story at that point, you’re jumping the shark because the story is over, so go for it.” I would agree--until it turns out that it results in the story being a Soul Eater prequel all along, and I cannot abide that, not only out of personal frustration that it disrupts a lot of headcanon and better origin stories that fans came up with, but also because it clashes with, for less important, the canon of Soul Eater, and, for more important, the message of Soul Eater.
“Oh, so when Luffy translates his stretchy powers into fire powers and then sun powers and then cartoon powers, that’s fine?” I’m not a big fan of Luffy having fire powers and then sun powers; I think you could have gone right from “stretchy” to “cartoon powers.” I really don’t get the Nika and sun details related to laughter and cartoons, so maybe Oda will surprise me and tie this together in a way I can understand. But I was already fine moving from “stretchy powers” to “rubberhose cartoon powers.” So, yeah, no, when Luffy does it, it’s not fine, which is also why I’m not sold on it in Fire Force either.
But I did say that Ohkubo didn’t take fire powers to their logical conclusion--which ones do I think were lacking?
Ice powers.
We only had Karim taking this to the logical conclusion that, if you can control fire, that means you can also remove heat, which means creating ice. That is amazing. It is this intriguing idea that has intertextual value: Inferno by Dante was the center of Hell being frozen, the absence of heat--play with that idea, show us how Karim is the coldest person in a lot of ways, so that you can do something with how Rekka’s death affects him--because, LOL, no, Rekka’s death should not affect anyone, fuck Rekka, piece of shit.
But at least if you had Karim have an actual character arc instead of, “I feel sad that Rekka is dead--but, whoops, he’s alive again in the finale, because Shinra is a fucking idiot who brought back even the worst people who are going to start trouble, but don’t worry, y’all, Rekka is now the progenitor of the Star Clan, so now you get Black Star--”
I mean, re-read that mess of a sentence: what is even happening?
This is Karim’s big narrative arc? No--take his ice powers and do something with them. I’m not saying the cold guy should turn out to be a villain, but after his faith was shaken by what Rekka did, then what Burns did joining willingly with the White Clads, then yes, you really need to give Rekka more of a story that pits him against the 8th, not necessarily in a fight but definitely in an attitude: “We have seen more and more of our institutions exposed as fraudulent, easily shattered like icicles, but just as sharp. Illusions, like ice you think is solid before you fall through it. Kusakabe, are you just giving us more illusions, just going to leave us shattered--or do you have an actual plan to make things right?” Not great dialogue, but give the guy something. I’m not sure which other fire powers we could have had. Fire for vegetation? We had Hibana just making flower illusions--why not have Iris’s powers actually be sunlight that encourages plant growth? Too much like Shiemi from Blue Exorcist, but it’d be a surprising power. Fire for cooking? We have Pan using fire to, for no good reason, somehow buffing up characters like this is an RPG--why not have fire used for cooking that somehow improves health? We kind of had that detail with Huang--give her or Pan that power. Fire that can heal the body to improve muscle building? Again, kind of like Huang, but may have made Akitaru more interesting instead of “strong soul, works out a lot.” Just straight-up steal from Avatar: what about lightning? It just feels like there were these paths the story could have taken with the various powers of fire--and instead it was just, “flames, flames, that’s it, time to make up bullshit that Inca can sense the paths of flames and predict the future, Haumea can see the future, somehow the old nun can make earthquakes, whatever, just get this manga over with.”
