am i the only one who feels like forcing a nuclear family dynamic onto switch is like seriously infantilizing to sora. he and natsume are literally like one year apart .. and him being as strongly autistic coded makes it more uncomfortable tbh
oh no i totally get that! i do think there are instances where people really water sora down to simply being a "child" which really sucks. im someone whos autistic myself so i also understand the discomfort that comes with this
i will say though i feel the issue is less "viewing switch as a family where sora is their kid" and more "viewing sora AS a kid" because hes approaching 18 years old himself now. itd be gross to continue infantilizing him
i feel like the reason this happens so often though is because in the text itself sora gets coddled alot by natsume and tsumugi. natsume sometimes outright being written like an overbearing parent to sora. but i dont think this is the writers infantilizing him either. rather i think this is the writers trying to create parallels in the story
natsume is someone who hates being coddled and seen as a child and weak, yet after the war he was left with just that. feeling like a weak child who couldnt do anything and was protected by his niisans, but still left all alone by himself. and then the next year starts and he runs into sora again. we dont know how this encounter really went, all we know is sora felt alone and like an outcast and was taken in by natsume and tsumugi. i think when natsume saw sora like this he couldnt help but see himself in him. seeing that weak child he himself was (esp since when natsume was an actual kid he would also speak in third person like sora) and i think this was what triggered him to basically devote himself to protecting sora. not wanting what happened to natsume to happen to him either. but he failed to realize that, while his actions are out of nothing but love, hes doing the very thing he hated when people did to him. sora loves natsume more than anything of course and doesnt seem to mind too much, but even sora has stated numerous times that hes not a kid and doesnt wish to be viewed as one. and iirc didnt tsumugi also once say natsumes "refusal to let sora grow up" was a cruel thing to do to sora or something to that effect?
i feel like people see natsumes (and in turn charas like the oddballs) treatment of sora and view it very surface level. they see him coddle sora and in turn wish to do so too! but in doing so it overlooks WHY natsume is doing this and the complexities of it all, and in turn leads to sora being infantilized
what i wanna say is i dont think theres anything wrong with portraying switch as a family. i dont think theres anything wrong with viewing sora as a cute little guy! but when you start viewing him as an incompetent child who needs guidance and cant do anything on his own without natsume or tsumugi is when it starts getting really gross. i dont think we should shame people for how they find joy in switchs relationship with one another, but i wish we wouldnt reduce them to roles and tropes. theyre complex characters ! hes not a kid hes his own person !!

Here are some completely random fun facts about Odysseus' family from various myths:
His grandfather, Autolycus (meaning "the wolf itself", pretty badass) , was a shape-shifting trickster, also known as "the king of all thiefs", with the ability to change the shape of random objects he stole and was also the direct son of Hermes (originally he was just some dude Hermes liked, post-Odyssey he was changed to be his son. I'd say both versions are equally accepted though the son thing wasn't there from the beginning).
Autolycus was also the sworn rival of King Sysyphus, who you might know as that one guy who escaped death and whose punishment for it was pushing a rock for eternity, or that very nice guy from Tartarus in Hades. Autolycus used to steal Sysyphus' cattle and when the latter finally managed to find tangible proof of his guilt he did the only sensible thing he could think of.
He fucked his daughter.
As one does.
As I'm saying this I really want you guys to imagine the Sysyphus from Hades doing all this. Because I find it fucking hilarious.
Also btw, said daughter is named Anticleia and in her youth she was apparantly a companion to Artemis. Absolutely pop off queen.
So Yada Yada time skip and Anticleia promptly moves on from Sysyphus to Laertes of Ithaca, they get married and soon after a baby boy is born. And by soon I mean, pretty soon after. Suspiciously soon after...I think you know where I'm going with this.
YEP, there are some myths where instead of being the son of Laertes, Odysseus is the son of Sysyphus, yet the absolute gigachad that is Laertes still raised the baby as his own.
Now, myths are everything but consistent, and much like Autolycus beings Hermes' son, this connection with Sysyphus was likely added post-Odyssey, meaning that even if this variation of the myth exists, Odysseus was still widely seen as Laertes' biological son and it's pretty safe to say that he's exactly that in both the Iliad and the Odyssey.
Why did I tell you all this then?
Because it's fanfiction material and I want people to use it.
Sooooo, the baby is born and it's time to give him a name, and the one to do just that is Autolycus, for whatever reason. I mean from what I've read Anticleia actually insisted he named him, so yeah, not super important but I still felt like it was worth mentioning.
So Autolycus cradles his new infant grandson, he looks him in his small baby eyes and says: "You know, I pissed off a fuck ton of people during my life, like really a lot of peeps, so I think I'm gonna name him Hateful."
You think I'm joking but this is kinda how it actually went.
The name Odysseus actually means "To Hate", and yeah, Autolycus specifically chooses it because he himself pissed off a lot of people.
And yeah, that's pretty much it really.
I mean I guess there's the fact that Odysseus got his famous leg scar while hunting with his grandpa, but that's stuff you can read directly on the Odyssey anyway. I just wanted to shine a light on the sheer badassery of this family.
So yeah.
Oh also there are certain myths that say that Homer was Telemachus' son through Nestor's youngest daughter and I think that's kinda neat honestly.
(The girl in question SHOULD be Polycaste, thought some people said it was a different daughter that was apparantly not among the original roster of Nestor's kids which probably means she was written in many years later. Telemachus' love life is actually a bit of a mess really, even putting whatever the hell the Telegony is aside, he's still got at least 3 other possible wives, them being Polycaste, Nausicaa and even Calypso. There is also this one line from the Odyssey where Polycaste bathes him and some people apparantly interpreted it as them banging and it's said she eventually gave birth to a boy named Perseptolis. But yeah, the boy's a womanizer.)
Aaaaand yeah, that's pretty much it.
So what did we learn today? Well, in Odysseus' family the badassery is hereditary it seems.

Opinions on Milgram characters
I've actually been wanting to do this for some time now lmao. Btw this is just my interpretation of each character, followed by my opinion on said interpretation. Feel free to disagree, I love to discuss with other people. (also cross-posted on Reddit)
Haruka: Okay so what I think happened for him is that he very obviously has a developmental disorder of some sort. I'm not sure exactly what, and I don't really wanna speculate because I'm not an expert. So he, as a child, was neglected by his mom and didn't receive enough attention. This led him to become extremely attached to his childhood best friend, which didn't really affect anything when they were both children. But then, she grew up, yet he didn't. She started to act more maturely, and he didn't. They grew apart, and Haruka couldn't understand why. Or maybe he did, and blamed himself. Anyways. Yada yada, he tried getting attention from his mom by killing animals, he did get attention (the wrong kind), kinda went off and killed his ex bestie as well, either out of frustration or for literally more attention.
Now, my general opinion of him? Neutral. I don't love or hate him. Maybe a very mild dislike, but that's only because I find it kinda disturbing how he calls Muu his mom.
Yuno: Abortion. I like Yuno. Not because of the whole "omg girlboss slayyyy you have total control over your body yas queen" thing, because honestly yall have got to stop saying stuff like that. I like her because she wants to be recognized as a "mature adult" who can actually take responsibility for her actions, instead of being degraded into this poor innocent girl who knows what the shit is. She's so impartial to everyone, even herself, yet she knows and acknowledges the fact that she's still human who has emotions and empathy, which is why she sometimes tries to help out. Yet, she doesn't deny the fact that she seeks interesting and new things, leaving behind others when most would feel guilty. 10/10, relatable character.
Fuuta: HATE. He is so... thoughtless?? I absolutely hate people who gets so caught up in their cause that they literally cannot see anything else. They don't stop to think, "oh, maybe what I'm doing is wrong? Maybe there is a better way to go about this?". Now, to be fair, I don't know much about Fuuta. So please, feel free to disagree with me about him, but I cannot stand the way he didn't stop to think that maybe cancelling others would push them to suicide. That just shows his naivety. I acknowledge that his passion is admirable (passion for what I'm still thinking about), but passion without the knowledge to help is just being a stubborn idiot. His impulsiveness is also another very strong ick of mine.
Muu: I don't have much of an opinion on her character, but I do enjoy the concept that she represents. My personal theory is that she represents how somebody can be both a victim and a bully at the same time. She is at her very core, human, but without all those polite manners and social skills drilled into her. She turns pitiful and desperate when disadvantaged, but turns cocky, arrogant and confident when she has power. She is so, undeniably, human. And yet she can also be kind at times. She has such a f-ked up perception of everything, so maybe yall didn't catch it, but she's still trying to be nice in her own warped way.
Shidou: Eh. He's like, okay?? Not gonna comment on his crime because I don't feel anything towards it. But his attitude is sort of annoying. The way that he clings to his role as a doctor in prison after trying to forsake his life, the way he keeps trying to bring up age with Es (yes I know age is a valid point but bringing that up just makes it seem as if you're looking down on Es only because of their age. it's degrading), all that stuff just kinda gets on my nerves a bit. I appreciate what he's doing for the prison,,, but I don't really like him.
Mahiru: Love her. I love the way she tries to stand up for her ideals, no matter how much society + Es tells her it's wrong. She's been hurt so much yet she's still so optimistic, bright and hopeful about love. I love her. Granted, it may be because I also have fucked up views of love like her which is why I gave her such a high rating compared to like, Fuuta.
Kazui: Neutral. I would have wanted to scream at him about just,,, not telling lies, but I can acknowledge how hard it is for some people to not care about their image, especially if they grew up in a traditional household.
Amane: A bit positive and negative at the same time. I dunno, I just kinda like the way that she found a way to adapt to her horrible circumstances. Although that way is by weaponizing her religion to protect herself, but yeah. Unhealthy circumstances calls for unhealthy coping methods. What I dislike is how she doesn't even want to give other thoughts a try. Like she won't stop and think about other options, not even for a little bit. But then again, it's literally been drilled into her since childhood to not betray that religion, so I guess that makes my point invalid.
Mikoto: Why, why is he so popular?? What?? I'm so confused. Honestly I just think he's neutral. Just like, oh look, another victim of the toxic work environment who found a terrible way to cope. I don't have any feelings about John either, although I do admire his dedication to Mikoto. He's just so,,, uninteresting?? Someone please tell me why he is so popular, because I gen want to try to understand and see his appeal.
Kotoko: My wife. I'll try not to let bias get in the way of this one.
Okay I'm gonna be so fr rn I absolutely detested her at first. She's like Fuuta,,, but so much worse. She takes her ideals to the absolute extreme, pushes down all guilts and feelings about others to carry out her "justice". She's so unwilling to admit that she likes the feeling of beating bad guys up, the moral high ground it gives her. She's not only hurting other people, but also herself. Mf thinks she's in an edgy movie where she's the anti-hero who goes against the government and is constantly misunderstood, like girlie stop. Stop and THINK about what you are doing, see the death, destruction and harm you've brought about not just to others but also yourself?? Goddamn.
I'm not even sure why I like her LMFAO. All my opinions about her is just, she's human scum who needs lots of therapy to stop hurting herself and others.
Es: Love my non-binary guard. They care so much for the prisoners, trying their absolute best to understand them while coping with their body and mind being infiltrated by us. I always feel so guilty having them bear the burden of explaining the guilty decisions to the prisoners,,, just want em to be happy and work-free. I admire their dedication to truly, truly feel for the prisoners, try to understand the entire context instead of the one on the surface. Yeah, they act immaturely, they're a 15 year old who has no memories, no clue as to where they are, clinging onto their role as a warden even if it makes them look pathetic because that's the only thing they've ever known. It's their only sense of "identity" they have that gives them power and pride.
Jackalope: HATE HATE HATE HATE GO BACK TO YOUR ROOM I DON'T WANT TO SEE YOU IN TRIAL 2 END gOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BACK TO WHICHEVER MISERABLE BASEMENT YOU CRAWLED OUT FROM AND STAY IN THERE FOR THE REST OF ETERNITY. JACKALOPE IS A FATHER AND CARES FOR ES?? I CALL BS. HE DUMPED SO MUCH WORK ON ES, ACTS SHIFTY AND MANIPULATIVE ALL THE TIME, DOESN'T EXPLAIN ANYTHING TO ES, AND YOU EXPECT ME TO LIKE HIM?????

Things from Season 5 that are good and I am keeping to retroactively add to the earlier seasons;
Tritannus:
Hes such a baby girl to me
He'd be such a funny addition to s3. Like if Valtor gave Tritannus power over the mutant army so now Tritannus is distracting everyone by attacking them from the sea would that be fucked up or what?
I'm taking Nereus's design for him bc Nereus doesn't get to exist anymore bc he's useless. Tritannus deserves bubble gum bitch hair
All that would change is that Valtor is pulling a Eraklyon and Solaria on Andros because he's trying to hide the fact that it's him while he reamasses his power
The Ocean Gates:
This one actually makes the earlier seasons retroactively make more sense
How did Aisha get from Magix to Andros though the ocean? The Ocean Gates
These things absolutely exist in canon and if you disagree your wrong <3
Tbh I think each element deserves its own version of the Ocean Gates, but they do different things. So water is teleportation, but each other one would do something different, but I can't think of anything rn
The Selkies:
The way Pixies seem to exist is the same way the Selkies seem to exist sooo
I am absolutely boosting the powers of the Selkies and Pixies so their actually useful guardians for the things there protecting
They're just made of ambient magic XD
Krystal:
Thinking of her and Helia being childhood friends is so fucking funny, especially because if there wasn't a retcon she'd be like 5 years younger than him
"Helia can you babysit my daughter" "sure"
"Helia why did Krystal use her magic to throw someone into a table?" "Because she's a bad bitch now"
Helia is no longer allowed to babysit, this does not mean hes stopped being a bad influence, he simply has less chances to be one
Krystal being used to Helia levels of unhinged is so funny bc she's gonna go to Alfea and tackle someone
The Infinite Ocean
It's extremely cool to imagine around the Magic Dimension are these other dimensions of pure elemental constructs
Like like each dragon, aether, fire, air, water, and earth each made their own dimensions right?? But the middle of those dimensions all ended up touching, which created the perfect balanced dimension, the Magical Dimension
So the Infinite Ocean is a ACTUALLY endless body of water filled to the brink with life
Eventually the dimensions gained borders so each god could take a nap in their own home
I think it would be cool if you had to go to these different dimensions to gain the elemental forms. You get the water form in the water dimension, go figure
And it would also make them so much more....idk how to explain it, but in this version it would be a boon from the gods themselves from their own personal dimensions which makes them feel more exclusive and powerful
I don't imagine each dragon personally handing out the transformation, but you have to do a specific thing. Also this would be the natural home of the Selkies, because they're water magic. The pixies are Aether btw
Yah, your just wandering into one of the gods of the multiverse's backyard no big deal
Sirenix:
One of the elemental forms!
Them being inherently godly really adds to my whole "nymphix is a bad thing" vibe that I enjoy so much
The forms themselves don't cause that much difference to the person while detransformed, but when transformed there interpretation of whatever the element is on a new plane
I kinda want them to fuck with the user a bit so the Winx try to avoid getting them while the Trix run head long into them, giving a very self destruction for the sake of power vibe
Harmonix:
The name is cool and I'm so obsessed with making it better
The intentional shedding of massive power of the elemental forms to stay in harmony with the laws of the dimension instead of taking all that power for yourself and shedding your humanity for power that changes the fundamental way you interact with the world. Yada yada Nymphix faries can't detransform, yada yada they no longer can meaningfully enjoy or connect to human concepts, Ive said this stuff before
It's basically the good version of Nymphix that doesn't turn you into a cosmic horror ala Dr Manhattan style but is much weaker as a trade off
Macy
She's a literal babi
The Winx say magic returned to earth and more people are going to unlock magic bc of this but we never see that??? Macy is now a magi of flowers
She's one of the first discovered and Mitzi is big mad about it
Diaspro's Armor look:
It fucking ate
I'm making this one of her magic forms
She's gonna hang out with the boys and make pot shots at Sky with Riven it's going to be great
Riven will probably give her a pointy object much to everyone's dismay
Kelli:
The concept of her is so funny
"local lesbian takes it upon herself to teach local himbo how to play an instrument to impress his girlfriend"
You know she gets bitches
Remember how I said witches from CT that were captured by the Trix would be thankful that Riven drew the monsters aggro to let them escape? Kelli is the witch he made friends with from this
I imagine she's ultra chill and refuses to talk to any of the Winx lest she gets dragged into their bullshit. I'm sorry, but she will NOT be fighting a skeleton man. God bless
She's literally just hanging out
Pillar of Light Stuff:
It just fucks
Radius' life being tied to the second sun makes s3 SO MUCH JUICIER!! Cassandra leading Valtor to the second sun of Solaria is essentially signing Radius' death warrant and that's so fucking cool
On top of everything else Stella's father might die! Sucks to be Stella <3
It's weird that the second sun is this powerful light magic but it only affects Solaria. So now the sun works like the pillar of light!!!
No sun of Solaria, means light magic gets fucked up. Domino being attacked made fire magic unstable, but not completely fucked (wonder why, also this Bloom girl's magic is p weird). So all planet defining magical items affect the entire dimension
The Singing Whales:
You know how Solaria has the second sun of Solaria? And how s3 implied that every planet has a magical item that controls most of the magic on the planet??? Yeah!
Melody didn't have one but with these things it officially does!
Good for Melody
Omnia and Polita:
I NEED more characters to round out the nine nymphs of magix's and a mermaid nymph would fuck like hell
That but the opposite for Politea

Everytime I see someone say Idia wouldn’t know what a period is I always wonder whether they know he has to do stuff at his parents company which is literally about health /nm
hi anon!! I've actually never seen anyone saying this, but that might be because I'm very new to the fandom and haven't seen much Idia content so far. I agree with you, tho, I think him (and most of the boys at NRC too) would definetly know what it is!
wait I'll put this under the cut it's time for my (not so in depth) Idia analysis!!
ok so first things first, fair warning: this is my own personal interpretation and it might not be a 100% correct, anyone is allowed to disagree!
another fair warning: I've only caught up with the english server so far so I haven't read the Ignihyde chapter yet, which means I still have a lot to see about Idia, but I don't wanna get spoilers so I'll be going with the knowledge I have from the main story, events and vignettes.
the thing with Idia is that, at a surface level, he's just another Gamer Nerd TM stereotype that's a shut-in with no friends nor social skill and yada yada, and that's what some people might take him for, especially at first glance. I've seen people saying he'd be those misogynistic gamers that have never seen a girl in his life or the ones that think you absolutely have to prove you know everything about a game to be a fan of it. and I know that's all in good fun of course but! I don't agree with it at all!
in my point of view, yes Idia is very introverted and reclusive and he's socially awkward, but that doesn't mean he's that stereotypical gamer, which is what makes him so interesting in the first place! he breaks those expectations you have for his character and shows a lot more depth than this label! I'm not saying he doesn't play into the role at all, but I think he's very well written to break some common patterns.
like! he's such a sweet older brother! he might love his games and his alone time and his room, but he loves Ortho more than those things and would go out of his comfort zone for him (like in the recent Wish Upon a Star event which is one of my favorites btw). he gets very talkative and almost sassy when speaking about something he likes! (like in Azul's school uniform vignette). and yes he can be selfish and headstrong and rude (like in the Ghost Bride event), as is expected for a student of NRC, but that doesn't eliminates his positive traits.
where am I going with this and how does it even ties into the question? it's because in those gamer stereotypes, you'd expect him to not know anything about afab people that isn't in one of his games and have no friends to tell him otherwise. but I think he (and most at NRC) is very educated and would know, you know, basic biology. plus I actually wasn't aware his family's company is about health (I thought it had smth to do with technology, since as I mentioned I haven't read the chapter yet), but since that's the case it's even one extra motive for him to know about it.
like, it's definetly not on top of his mind and he probably never has given it any thought but he does know, it's just not something he has do deal with on a daily basis.
TL;DR: I agree with you anon, Idia is very interesting and there's more than what meets the eye to him, so he doesn't fall into a clear cut stereotype that people often take him for!

TEA TIME!!: what were your thoughts on the Civil War arc?? 🍵
It’s always Tea Time 🍵
Civil War is known for being iconic in the fandom...but not for the right reason.
It was the moment where all the kids really get to show their talents and how much they’ve improved over the course of the year. Some of them reveal hidden surprises, others continuously impress...
The point is, all the kids had a moment to shine. But barely anyone talks about that.
Instead, Civil War is known for being the Karmagisa arc...which I personally have issues with ngl.
I guess I’ll just address this first and say...it’s never clear on what Karma was exactly so upset about. All we know is that he was obviously jealous.
And that type of unreliable narrative...really shouldn’t have been used for this arc. It was supposed to be about Korosensei and the class, but instead it was Karma throwing a tantrum and having beef with Nagisa.
The violence between Karma and Nagisa in this arc personally makes me uncomfortable anyways, especially some of the imagery. But the fact that people can see that and interpret it as “hot” and use it as shipping fuel makes me feel even worse.
But this is a personal issue, so it’s not really included as tea btw.
Moving on, Karma suddenly having strong leadership skills really bothers me. I’ve said this before in a tea post about him, but none of Civil War was a good example of leadership. He barely guided his teammates, had his own agenda, and used them as collateral damage.
Again: Karma works best as a strategist. It would be cool to see Nakamura be leader though.
I saw this mentioned in Discord too, about how Nagisa barely was involved in anything. Rather than go by the rules like everyone else was, he stayed hidden and came out at the last second, taking out 3 people smh.
Civil war besides those two, like everything involving the Class, is very enjoyable to me. I loved when I read the manga and saw all these little details of their improvement. My favorite moments were how everyone was legitimately terrified of Hayami, but Yada cutely got her in the end. Adorable, I’m so proud of my girls.
Oh...now we’re at the part that a lot of people will disagree with me on.
I don’t think Red Side had a legitimately good argument...in fact, it disturbs me how willing they wanted to get rid of the teacher who loved them so much. The only adult who was there for them.
Their arguments were bullshit honestly, especially the snipers, Nakamura, and Okano...and a few others, I can’t remember well right now.
And I think the reason why this makes me so upset is because Class E is a found family. Assassination started their bonds with each other and the teachers, but it’s not the only thing. And Civil War makes it seem so.
They were together for almost a year by this point! What about all the sweet memories? How they went through so much together? Does none of it mean shit just because you wanna “honor Korosensei?”
I do believe that Koro didn’t wanna be saved...and that his wish was to die, once he was done teaching 3-E. But the point of Nagisa and Blue Team’s argument was just to try. They wanted to try saving Koro. They wanted to try staying as a class.
And the fact that the kids on Red Team couldn’t even put that much effort in hurts me a lot...and I lowkey disliked them after reading that part. I obviously don’t still feel that way, but yeah...
Hearing the fandom agree with Karma and red side fucking hurts. I just can’t respect that argument and unwillingness to bend just a little.
Like, if not for Koro, couldn’t they do it for the class? The class that’s basically a family to everyone?

Your first ask is me? I feel bad now your first ask is about a biased CA... :( I always see you out there writing great ideas and opinions on things! You deserve more asks! About my ask I know other people picked their favorite and all, but that's all they did. A VA is like saying all these things about A fixing C and shit and that's not it. That's not the story. That's not the game. She's putting wrong ideas in the fans/shippers heads while working for SE. I just find that a little pathetic. +
2/2  + but I won't e-mail anyone. That was just me being petty. And kind of joking too. (Sorry for my English)
Oh, please, don’t feel bad at all! I think it’s a great starting question to get me thinking. Also, your English is FANTASTIC. I assumed you were a native speaker!
I 100% agree with you on how she’s saying the wrong things. I didn’t even know she was going that far. Like I said, I really can’t tolerate watching her because it’s so extreme to one side.
Based on that, it sounds like she really didn’t play through the OG. It’s clear that Aerith doesn’t do anything to “fix” Cloud. Her job and her role is for the overall plot of FF7. She’s a very important character in that regard. Without her, the world is screwed (well, without her in the Lifestream but). Tifa legit is the only one that can help fix Cloud later on - by guiding him and letting him come to terms with everything on his own.
Did Aerith make Cloud a bit more open? Yes, absolutely. Every character that Cloud deals with develops him further, and I love that. It’s not just Tifa or Aerith. Barret. All of AVALANCHE gives him development. Marle gives him development. The Trio, Jules, all of them. It’s wholesome as hell that he really does listen and refers to things he’s learned later in the game. Watching him go from “Not interested” to being super worried about Wedge when he falls from the pillar is GOOD CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT.
I think Aerith teaches him some social skills - like high-fives. It’s silly, but Cloud was afraid to high-five. His persona won’t let him do anything that’s gonna make him possibly get rejected or hurt. It’s silly, but our boy is pretty messed up at this point.
She also teaches him sympathy. When she’s talking about Zack in the park she’s just SAD. I felt for her. I was really glad they did so much Zack/Zerith referencing in the remake. This isn’t to say he didn’t show any sympathy or concern before - he did notice a lot if Tifa seemed nervous or upset. This was more obvious, though, because he was pretty closed off from Aerith until she talked about Zack.
Cloud softens up when he realizes she’s sad about this unknown person who he isn’t allowed to know the name of, which to me is a huge improvement with how he dealt with things like that before. @silver-wield Did a full interpretation of the park scene that covers this in more detail. She also has one on the high-fives.
Him learning to listen to people instead of blowing them off, him remembering the lessons Tifa taught him at surviving life on the ground floor, (he asks her in Chapter 10 if following the stench is another lesson... as he’s smiling btw).
What actually will piss me off is people saying he was a stoic, closed off jerk until Chapter 8. It’s just not true. He grew a LOT from his first line to his last one in Chapter 7. Before Aerith. Then he continues to grow. Shipping who you want is fine until you start deleting parts of the actual story.
If the story didn’t go in the Cloti direction, I guarantee you I probably would have gone with whatever the final pairing was. I generally do. Squall and Rinoa, Yuna and Tidus, Celes and Locke, Rosa and Cecil. You know, the linear relationships.
The exception for me was Lucrecia and Vincent... cuz I just was so grossed out that she picked Hojo. DoC cleared up some of it, but still. I had head canon that Vincent was Sephiroth’s father yada yada. When I found out it’s canon that Hojo is - that there’s legit NO POSSIBILITY of Vincent being his father, I accepted it. I didn’t go online and start twisting the story and attacking people. It didn’t take away from my fan fiction enjoyment at all.
I assume it’s like people who ship Squall and Quistis, for example. Nothing in the game indicates this (he rejects her hard - “Then go talk to a wall”), but people do. That’s okay, I don’t enjoy that pairing (hot for teacher, anyone?), but I know people do. The differences with that pairing and C//erith is NOBODY GOES ONLINE AND FIGHTS THE FF8 STORY TO PUSH THAT SHIP. They don’t sit here and rip the story up, ignore parts, don’t play past certain parts/skip chapters/quests whatever. Then they start quoting things that were debunked long ago.
I am absolutely fine with shipping who you want. You just can’t change the actual story to fit it and then argue with facts. That’s what makes this brutal. I also don’t care if the VAs ship whoever. They just can’t put false ideas into the heads of fans. It either creates false hope for one side or anxiety for the other. It doesn’t end well, especially since people expect that she may know more than we do. They’ll take those comments to heart much more than a random person on the internet...
Also: I would not judge or look down on you for emailing Square, cuz I think it’s the funny kind of petty! I’d be that petty too, but probably never actually send it!

Categorizing Precure by Elements
Tumblr media
As if the world needs more proof that I take “having fun” too seriously or, or that I spend way too much time on these little “projects” of mine where the logic behind them would confuse the hell out of anyone who dares to look at it and frankly, only makes the most sense to me anyway even though I’m just as confused
...wEll GueSs wUt i Did iT anYwAY nYAAHAaaRHaaHAaArR (/●◔∀●)/
...craziness aside, title’s pretty self-explanatory, yea?
Note: This post will be continually updated w/new Cure additions and seasons.
Cut for length...
Some notes before you scroll down:
Only main Cures are listed. Therefore, no last minute Cures, no movie-exclusive Cures, etc.
The “element” aspect is based on their individual concepts and attacks (in more vague cases, interpretations of their attacks).
Sub-tiers - Primarily there to include (some of) the Form Changes. In other words, it’s just a personal preference so you don’t have to think too much on it if you feel they don’t belong. As far as this post is concerned, Form Changes are always secondary.
Differences between 2nd tier and 3rd tier - Simplest explanation(s) I can give for this:
2nd tiers are reserved for Form Changes where the element is, more or less, shown explicitly to have significant meaning for its respective form (ex. MahoPre’s Ruby Style - flames representing “passion”)
2nd tiers are for Form Changes that have at least some sort of connection to the story and/or the Cures’ main forms (ex. Egret’s power derives from the sky, Windy’s power comes from the wind = sharing similar narrative veins)
3rd tiers are for Form Changes whose appearances are very limited to just their attacks and have little to no bearing on the grand scheme of things in their respective seasons
Again, I made this for fun but I still thought everything out on my own. Please don’t think I should be obligated to change it w/o good reason, thx.
I really wracked my brains on those sub-tiers especially and it gets even more confusing because I don’t include all Form Changes (like Go!Pri’s) but I’ll explain if anyone does have questions about those so...
Tumblr media
Light - No surprise that a large majority of the Cures’ attacks are in this category. Even seasons like Suite, whose concept revolves entirely around music (so there’s an absence of “substance” element) falls here because tbh, they really can’t fit anywhere else.
I feel like I need to explain about Yell, though. The reason she’s not put under the “Earth/Plant” category is that though she has the flower motif as part of her design, her powers are not derived from the Earth itself. “Heart for You” and “Flower Shoot” are light-based, not flower or plant-based.
I just want to keep the integrity of these classifications as much as possible, that’s all.
However, under my “Symbols” chart (here), she definitely is listed there under “Flowers” so that more or less balances things out, I hope.
As for Bright, I haven’t watched Splash Star but I heard enough about it to know she belongs in the 2nd tier. I don’t know if Bright’s form is shown a lot outside of stock footage (same goes for Windy) but even so, I don’t think I made the wrong judgement.
Dark - Not “dark” as in “evil” but “dark” as in dark-colored theme.
Which, notably, only Black qualifies for.
Yea, yea, I know she represents the light, it’s just that her light is colored black to go with White’s white light, yada yada yada. That’s why “Dark” and “Light” are put together.
But still hoping somewhere in the future we can have more Cures with a darker visual palette so Black won’t be so lonely by herself. :(
Tumblr media
Fire - When you take out the sub-tiers, we really don’t have that many legitimate Fire Cures, huh?
Anyways, as I was re-watching the stock footage while organizing this, I noticed that Cherry Flamenco has more flame effects in her attacks than Ruby Passionale does as a finisher.
But still, Cherry Flamenco’s purpose is only to deal out attacks. Ruby, on the other hand, makes up one of the four major powers granted to Miracle and Magical by Mother Rapapa, the lore and figure of good behind MahoPre, which is why they have the whole rotation of forms in the first place. So technically, it and Sapphire and Topaz all have equal value to Diamond as far as the story goes.
But for the sake of less confusion not to mention curbing my shameless favoritism of MahoPre, not sorry nope, they’re assigned to 2nd tier.
Tumblr media
Water - Not much to say, really. Reasoning behind Fire also applies here.
Oh and btw, HealPre’s images are only temporary though until better art gets released later, I’ll replace them.
Ice - Ice is just another form of water......but it’s too cool (no pun intended) not to be its own separate element so there, hehe~ xD
Besides, we have enough Cures to put in its classification.
Not that it stops me if there’s only one anyway. *glances down the post*
Tumblr media
Earth/Plant - Kinda sad that most of these are Flower Cures while only Bloom and Mint (and maybe~ Blossom) actually make any reference to the “soil” or ”terrain” of the earth.
I don’t know why people find that so unappealing, tbh. This element always comes last as opposed to the other more popular ones but I guess that’s the reason why. It’s not “pretty” enough. At least, not for Precure.
:P
Tumblr media
Air/Wind - I need more Air Cures.
Wind, sky, whatever.
I need more of them as much as I need more Green Cures. (<_< ;;)
Tumblr media
Lightning/electricity - Severely need more of these, too. Why are there so little of them? Gimme moar biribiri Cures! T_T
Oh, about why Topaz Style is 3rd tier and not 2nd tier.
Well, honestly, I really don’t know what element it plays with (hence, why I put it under “Other” w/KirePre below) but it certainly isn’t lightning.
However, there are some lightning effects shown in Topaz Esperanza so it still fits in this category because of that. *shrug*
Tumblr media
Metal -  Milky Rose has the honor of being the only “Cure” (hahaha) to have the double element feature.
Technically, the metal aspect only shows up in “Milky Rose Metal Blizzard” so she should really be placed as a 3rd tier buuut since no one else has this element, she can hog it all to herself. :P
Besides, having a 3rd tier with no 1st tier looks silly anyway.
Other - This is where I place the ones that don’t fit with the aforementioned elements.
I mean, there is a tangible effect with their attacks so of course, I gotta count them.
Even though I never thought “dessert” could count as an element but APPARENTLY IT DOES IN PRECURE!! (⊙ ω ⊙ ;;)
