Chapter 6 [Draft]
Sung Jinwoo/Trial Player!Reader
CW:
Inspired by @circeyoru âs âFuture Power Coupleâ
[MasterlistđŚâ¨ď¸]
The partnership was, for lack of a better word, complicated.
Jinwoo noticed it was a word often associated to you.
The more time Jinwoo spent with you only made things murkier. You were a puzzle wrapped in a riddle, and no matter how many pieces he tried to put together, he was always left with gaps. It was frustrating, but it also intrigued him in a way that nothing else had since he became the Player.
Jinwoo was suspiciousâhe couldnât afford not to be. Jinwoo never imagined having someone like you beside him, much less allowing it. For the longest time, he had preferred working aloneâsolitude was safer, simpler. He didnât have to worry about anyone getting in his way or betraying him. So, naturally, he had kept you under close observation, convinced that the cost of keeping you around would be more than just the unease gnawing at him.
From the start, Jinwoo had believed that taking you along would mean a decrease in his own growth. Experience was precious, and dividing it was a risk he was prepared to acceptâbut you had assured him that wouldnât be necessary.
"I wonât take any exp from you,â youâd said with a quiet confidence that he hadnât known how to trust. âIâve got a feeling it doesnât work like that for me anymore."
Heâd been skeptical, of course. Experience was everything to a player, and heâd been prepared to lose some to keep you around. But as the weeks went by, he found your claim to be frustratingly true. No matter how many monsters you felled, it was only his system notifications that pinged, announcing increases in his experience points, his level bar that filled up, not yours, as though the system recognized you as an extension of him.
It was as if you just werenât there.
He didn't know whether to be relieved or more suspicious. What kind of player didnât gain EXP? It didnât fit with the rules, and Jinwoo was nothing if not a careful observer of the patterns around him.
---
The material rewards, however, were a different story.
There was a strange way you treated the remains of the fallen monsters. At first, he hadnât paid much attention to it; after all, every hunter had their quirks. But you would always linger after the fights, almost reverently inspecting the bodies, picking through the materials they left behind. When he finally asked you about it, you had given him that infuriatingly cryptic smile.
âDo you mind if I take whatever you donât need?â you had politely asked one day, the first time out of the many in future raids to come. âI promise it wonât go to waste.â
âWhat do you even need them for?â he had asked, watching you examine the remains of a C-rank goblin with almost childlike fascination.
âHmmâŚâ Youâd glanced up, meeting his gaze briefly before turning back to the material in your hand. âThink of it as... research.â
Heâd agreed, more out of curiosity than generosity. And every time he did, he could have sworn he caught a glimmer of excitement in your eyes. It was an expression so genuine and bright that Jinwoo found himself taken aback. What exactly you were doing with those materials, he had no idea, but you seemed genuinely grateful, almost... happy. And Jinwoo found it oddly endearing every single time.
The guarded woman he fought beside every day for the past few weeks by nowâthe one who always hid herself behind walls of practiced calmâsuddenly looked more humane. A person delighted over something so simple.
âThank you, Jinwoo.â you said softly as you packed away pieces of monster hides, bones, and crystals with precision. Â The way you spoke his name felt different than when others said it. Like it was laced with something unspoken, something almost... familiar.
For a moment, heâd thought he might be able to catch a sliver of truth from you. But then, as quickly as it appeared, your guard returned, and you slipped back into your composed, impenetrable self.
---
Yet, for every discovery he made about you, new questions took root. The way you spoke to the air when he couldnât see your system window was one of the strangest things heâd observed. It wasnât like how he interacted with his own systemâa cold, mechanical guide that answered in emotionless text.
He had come to terms with it, which made it more puzzling when you, on the other hand, seemed to have a strangely conversational relationship with yours. It was as though you were talking to a real person rather than an AI. And there were times he swore he heard you bantering with it. The fact that he couldnât see it, that he couldnât know what it was telling you without you telling him, left him on edge.
While you could see the familiar blue screens of his own system at all times, yours sometimes seemed to exist in an entirely different realm. He didnât have enough information to even confirm you had the same kind of system he did.
One evening after a raid, after you had muttered something to the empty air beside you, Jinwoo couldnât hold back his curiosity any longer. The two of you were taking a break in the clearing of a forest-like dungeon, waiting for the mana in the air to settle. His shadows patrolled the perimeter, leaving the two of you in relative isolation.
âYouâre⌠talking to it, arenât you?â Jinwoo asked, as you finished your quiet exchange with your invisible companion. âThe system, I mean.â
âHmm? Oh.â You paused mid-motion, halfway through tucking away the latest monster core youâd collected, s if you hadnât just spoken aloud to someoneâor somethingâthat only you could see. You glanced at him, something unreadable flickering behind your eyes before you looked back at the core in your hands.
âItâs not quite the same as your system,â you said finally, your voice almost too soft to hear over the rustling leaves. âLetâs just say we have a complicated relationship.â You paused, seeming to search for the right words. âYours is⌠a guide, yes? Cold, instructive?â
He nodded, and you seemed to weigh your response.
âMine is⌠letâs call it more opinionated.â
Jinwoo raised an eyebrow, clearly unsatisfied. âYou mean to tell me that your system has a personality?â
A small smile tugged at your lips. âSomething like that.â
He muttered, narrowing his eyes. âYou know more about my system than I do, and yet I canât even see yours most of the time. Feels like a rigged game.â
âYou mean the same way my kills count towards yours instead?â
Fair point.
âYou could say I know it pretty well. And⌠it knows me.â Your tone was careful, and he realized heâd learned something more about you in that one sentence than in all the raids youâd fought together.
It was almost as if you wanted to be honestâdesperately soâbut something stopped you every time you got close to revealing too much. It seemed less like a power play and more like you were protecting somethingâmaybe even protecting him. But that didnât make sense.
Still, Jinwoo could see glimpses of genuine loyalty in your actions. The more he witnessed this, the more he felt torn, unable to decide if you were an ally bound by strange circumstances or a threat with motives he couldnât yet see.
---
Sung Jinwoo didn't know what to expect from you. You were fascinating, more so than he would ever admit out loud. All the clues the system had fed him about your existence were vague at best, referring to you as only the "Trial Player." And while he couldn't yet piece together what that truly meant, he wasnât going to let his guard down around you.
If you were planning something, he would figure it out eventually. For now, he would keep you close, both as an asset and as a potential threat.
He stole a glance at you now as you knelt by the remains of a fallen beast, checking to make sure its soul was vanishing, as it should. There was nothing particularly alarming about you outwardly. You were quiet, practical. But he noticed the way you watched the worldâdistant.
Despite his wariness, Jinwoo couldn't deny that you were useful. In raids, your healing abilities were top-notch, quick to mend injuries, faster than his own healing factor. Not to mention that you could directly heal his shadows, Jinwoo took note that the amount of mana he needed to regenerate them decreased when you were around.
Jinwoo had initially assumed that you were strictly a healer type. Thatâs what the Hunterâs Association records said, and your mana signature had a distinct, calming presence to it that he had only ever felt from skilled support-class hunters. Yet your mana felt⌠dense, almost limitless. If his own mana was a roiling river, yours was an ocean, calm on the surface but powerful beneath, which wasnât too surprising, considering you'd been a part of the system before him. But a mere healer shouldn't have that much mana reserve.
Are you actually a mage class too?
His suspicions were confirmed when he saw your summons.
---
The first time heâd seen them, Jinwoo had barely registered what he was seeing. An ethereal swarm fluttering around you like an aura. They were mesmerizing, each one a different color and size, their wings glittering with a soft, otherworldly light, brushing against your cheeks as you gently whisper to them.
Your mana poured out of you and into each butterfly, connecting you to them as though they were extensions of yourself.
Jinwoo couldnât help but wonder: Were these creatures merely magical constructs? If they wereâ
âWhy butterflies?â he had once asked, when you were both taking a rare break between raids. The delicate creatures flitted around you, glimmering faintly.
You glanced up at him, blinking as if surprised heâd asked. âWhy shadows?
Another fair point.
He shrugged, accepting your answerâor lack thereof. Jinwoo didnât miss the way your butterflies tended to hover near his shadows, seemingly fascinated by them. His shadows didnât react aggressively, which surprised him. Normally, any foreign magic would cause a disturbance, but your butterflies were⌠different. It was odd, watching those bright, delicate wings fluttering around his pitch-black soldiers, but it was almost... cute, in a way. A contrast between darkness and light.
It wasnât long before Jinwoo realized there was more to your butterflies than their strange, almost playful nature.
During one of their dungeons together, Jinwoo had summoned Igris to deal with a particularly tough group of orcs. He watched, mildly perplexed, as one of your butterfliesâbrilliant red with iridescent wingsâflitted toward Igris. At first, the shadow knight seemed briefly stop, his glowing, empty eyes flickered to the butterfly perched on his shoulder.
The crimson light from its wings seemed to seep into Igris, and Jinwoo blinked in surprise when his loyal knight straightened, his movements becoming quicker, more precise.
Jinwoo couldn't deny the difference. Whenever your butterflies were around, his shadows seemed to grow stronger, faster, even more resilient. The boost was subtle, but for someone like him who had honed his skills through the system, it was noticeable. You hadnât mentioned this, and he planned to ask you about it laterâafter all, he was in no hurry to reveal how closely he was watching you.
As the raid came to an end, Jinwoo glanced over at you, watching as your butterflies settled back around you. You smiled softly, looking at them with an expression so gentle it almost made him forget about his suspicions. Almost.
He learned early on that you treated them with unusual care, a gentle vigilance like a mother would her children. There was a fondness in your tone, a rare warmth that softened the careful detachment you usually kept.
That same red butterfly always seemed to stick closest to you, fluttering protectively by your side. Yet, every now and then, Jinwoo would catch it drifting toward Igris, as if drawn to the shadow knightâs presence.
One day, it had landed on Igrisâ sharp armored finger when there were no more enemies around. The shadow knight had looked at his master with a flicker ofâwell, if shadows could be confused, Igris certainly looked it at that moment. Jinwoo gave him a shrug, watching with mild amusement as the red butterfly seemed to glow brighter, almost as if content.
He wasnât sure if Igris understood, the knight merely tilted his head but remained still, allowing the butterfly to rest on him until it eventually fluttered back to you.
---
Jinwoo often found himself watching you as much as he knew you watched him. But even as he remained wary, he couldnât deny his respect for your skill. You were no burden to him. You wielded primarily healing abilities, you also seemed to know when to boost his power or his shadowâs, almost anticipating his needs before he even voiced them.
As far as your own magic went, Jinwoo had seen enough to confirm his suspicions. You had offensive capabilities as well, striking enemies with long-range magic that was precise and deadly. You were a most versatile support type hunter.
Still, he assumed your strength was primarily in long-range magic. Heâd noted your blind spots in close combatâstandard for a healer type, though he didnât miss the subtle, fluid way you adjusted your stance or deflected attacks from mid-range with your scepter-like staff. This led him to conclude that, for all your talent, you still had weaknesses in close range.
That was, at least, until today.
It was a sprawling forest dungeon, lit by beams of eerie green light filtering down from an unnatural, leafy canopy above. They were knee-deep in werewolves, snarling beasts that prowled out of the shadowy depths of a ruin. Jinwoo's shadows were handling most of the enemies, and you were providing your usual support from the backline, healing and boosting his soldiers while occasionally sending out a volley of offensive spells.
Jinwoo had been keeping an eye on you from the corner of his vision. After all, mages, more so healers, were supposed to be squishy, vulnerable when isolated. However, something had drawn Jinwooâs attention, leaving him at a distance from you for just a moment too long.
Everything was going smoothly until Jinwoo sensed a surge of bloodlust behind you.
When he turned, he saw itâa massive, hulking werewolf, eyes glowing a sickly yellow, leaping at you from behind with razor-sharp claws extended, ready to tear you apart.
Jinwooâs pulse spiked, the realization hitting him a heartbeat too late. He reached out instinctively, calling for a shadow to intercept, but thenâ
Shing! Slash!
In one fluid movement, you had twisted on your heel, a silver blur in your hand. The werewolf's momentum came to a sudden, brutal stop as its body split cleanly in two, blood spraying across the ground. You stood over the corpse, a rapier gleaming in your hand. The silver blade pulsed with magic before you flicked the blood off and sheathed it in one graceful motion, the weapon seamlessly retracting back into what looked like your scepter.
Jinwoo stopped in his tracks, your gaze meeting his for the briefest of moments, offering a nod, before you turned back to the shadows.
By then, more werewolves emerged from the trees. The rest of the pack howled, charging at you, and Jinwoo saw the faintest shift in your expressionâa steely determination, and something almost akin to exhilaration.
As the next wave of beasts closed in, Jinwoo watched as your fingers danced over the length of your scepter, infusing it with your mana. The staff elongated, shifting its shape until it became a spear, the blade at its tip crackling with your signature silver magic.
You twirled it with practiced ease, thrusting it into the nearest enemy with deadly precision.
The scene was a blur of movement, each swing of your weapon releasing bursts of silver energy that cut through the werewolves like a hot knife through butter. You fought with a grace and precision that was almost hypnotic, your movements fluid and controlled.
When one of the beasts tried to flank you, you sent a wave of silver butterflies at it. They swarmed the creature, their wings fading in and out, and Jinwoo saw the werewolf's eyes glazed over right before you struck it down.
âAre you just going to watch, or are you planning on helping?â you called over to him as you pulled out the bloody spear from the beastâs corpse, not even turning to face him.
Grey eyes shifted to blue, Jinwoo couldnât help but let out a low chuckle.
As the two of you fell into rhythm, your combined strength decimated the remaining enemies. His shadows worked in sync with your butterflies, an unspoken alliance that seemed more natural than either of you expected. He didnât fully trust you, but standing here together, he felt a rare sense of ease, an almost enjoyable synergy he hadnât experienced with anyone before.
Once the last beast fell, you took a breath, looking entirely unruffled as you dusted yourself off, letting your spear shift back into its scepter form with a wave of your hand.
Jinwoo watched as the butterflies gathered back around you, the red one taking its usual place by your ear.
âSo, are you a healer? A mage? Or something else entirely?â he finally asked the question he probably already knew the answer to.
Your gaze flickered, âA little of both. The system assigned me as a hybrid after my job change quest.â
Ah, so you went through that too.
âWhyâd you hide it?â
You arched an eyebrow. âHide it? You never asked.â
Again, Jinwoo couldnât deny that.
---
Your power was⌠formidable. Jinwoo was not the type to admit it easily, but you were undeniably stronger than him, at least for the time being. Every raid you participated in, every dungeon you cleared together, made that abundantly clear.
He could see it in the way you fought with lethal efficiency. You wielded your mana with a deftness he could only respect, if not quite trust. Your abilities, whether in healing or combat, suggested yearsâmaybe decadesâof experience. Yet, your gaze flicked to him every so often, as if gauging his reaction.
Despite that overwhelming power, you still played along with his orders, never challenging his authority. Here you were, guarding his back as if you had no greater ambition than to follow him. The thought of it unsettled him.
You were holding back.
If you were so powerful, why did you follow him? Why didnât you resist more on this arrangement? Was it truly just because the system compelled you? And if that was the case, why didnât you seem to resent it? Sure, you seem frustrated, but that was just about it.
âYouâre⌠strong,â he admitted, watching you carefully. âStronger than I am, for now. So why do you go along with all of this?â
Your eyes met his, surprise flickering in them before you looked away, staring off into the dimly lit cavern, adjusting your staff in your hands.
âI thought weâve been over this. The systemââ
âThatâs just an excuse,â he pressed. âWe both know how the system is. What Iâm asking is why you follow my lead?â
For a moment, you didnât respond. The silence stretched, heavy with unspoken words. Finally, you turned to him, your expression serious, your eyes searching his as if you were weighing something crucial.
âItâs⌠complicated,â you murmured that word again, as if it could sum up everything left unsaid.
âLetâs just say,â There was a quiet edge to your tone, âthat I believe in what youâre doing.â
You said them softly, almost wistfully. âOr just call it curiosity, if you want.â
Jinwoo didnât know what to make of that answer, and it frustrated him to no end.
He couldnât shake the feeling that you knew more about him than you let on. That watchful gaze of yours wasnât one of mere curiosityâit was the gaze of someone who was studying a well-worn book they had read countless times before. Jinwoo caught you doing it often enough to notice: the way you would follow his movements, anticipate his decisions, even predict his strategies as if youâd already seen it all play out before.
It was unnerving.
Jinwoo clenched his jaw, frustrated by the half-answers you always seemed to give. âYou keep saying that. But, youâve been watching me just as much as Iâve been watching you,â He said that while never taking his eyes off you.
âBut I get the feeling you know a lot more about me than I do about you.â
Your gaze flickered, and for a moment, he thought he saw a flash of guilt. But you quickly masked it, a faint smile tugged at your lips, though it didnât reach your eyes. âI observe you because I⌠want to understand you better. Maybe itâs because, in some ways, youâre the first person Iââ
You suddenly clammed up and then turned away. Jinwoo could tell that he wasnât going to get any more out of you on that topic.
âAlright,â he said finally, voice dropping to a neutral tone. âBut if youâre keeping secrets, just knowâone day, Iâll find them out.â
You chuckled, the sound both warm and distant. âYou wouldnât be the Sung Jinwoo I know if you didnât.â
---
Whatever your motives were, they werenât as simple as he initially thought.
Why had you been helping him for all those years before he even knew you existed? What did you gain from it?
Maybe you really are just that kind.
It was a conclusion that didnât sit well with him. Jinwoo had grown used to people having ulterior motives, but you seemed different. Your actions were selfless, almost to a fault. You cared, yet there was still more to your story.
There were days when he almost believed heâd solved the puzzle of who you were, pieced together from your silent gestures and guarded glances. And yet, the closer he got, the more he felt he was overlooking something vital, something you were desperate to tell him but couldnât.
It gnawed at him in the quiet moments after a fight, and even more so as he lay awake at night, thinking back to those rare glimpses of a different you. For every truth you hinted at, there seemed to be a secret you swallowed, and the weight of it left him wondering if you were carrying a lot more than you should have.
As for your quiet knowledge, heâd caught on that it went beyond mere strategy or observation. You seemed to know his habits, his tendencies, even some things he himself hadnât fully realized. He watched as you predicted his actions in battle, shifting to support him before he even had a chance to react, as if you knew what heâd do next.
But more than that, he could sense that you carried a strange sort of empathy for himâa sadness that didnât quite make sense coming from a stranger. The feeling unsettled him, and yet he couldnât bring himself to ignore it. You werenât just another faceless hunter to him now.
It wasnât enough, not nearly Trust wasnât something he could afford easily, not in this world, not after everything heâd been through. So, until he could figure you out, Jinwoo would keep you close.
Because, if there was one thing he had learned from years of surviving dungeons, it was that the most dangerous thing wasnât always the monsters lurking in the shadows.
Sometimes, it was the ones standing right next to you.
And that, maddening as it was, was enough to keep him close for now.

Basically, itâs discovered that to help stabilize Danielle, aka Ellie, itâd be best to have her be smaller. She refused to be turned into a kid by Frostbite/her own power ability, when Danny remembered the shrink ray his parents made. The side effect is that theyâre kind of stuck as humans when theyâre that smallâthey can use some ghost powers, but basically, itâs a weird side effect of the shrink ray. Thatâs canon, by the fucking way, lmao
Anyways, so Ellie agrees, and Danny will shrink himself with the ray to her size to help her out when needed/when she wants company her size, with Jazz, Sam, and Tucker occasionally helping out. Sam buys one of those really ornate Victorian dollhouses, with wooden everything, and Danny does some⌠renovations⌠so that it no longer opens and is a proper house. Thereâs still some oddities because itâs a dollhouse originally, but it was easier and faster to give her a home. One of the first additions was a water/wastewater system, followed like two hours later by an electrical system. Since it was so small, Danny was able to do it fairly quickly in his big size, occasionally going small and using the small window for using his powers to double check on things.
The water system had to be refilled every week, unless hooked up to a plumbing system in a house, which Danny made some outlets for in Jazzâs roomâit was easier and had significantly less questions/didnât stand out as much if placed in Jazzâs room. They usually did it every three days, though, as the plug-in process was still a bit⌠hinky. The tanks for holding the water were in the âbasementâ, which was mostly inaccessible from the inside of the dollhouse but basically looked like a big stand the dollhouse stayed on. Like someone ripped a full house out of the ground WITH the basement attached. There was a small access hallway down some stairs in the house for the clean water system, though.
The electric system was fairly simple, as it didnât cost much energy to light a dollhouse and heat/cool water. There was an AC unit, Ellieâs request, but it hardly was used and was fairly efficient just due to pure size. It was fueled by ecto batteries, which Danny made sure had a few rechargability optionsâjust because it was efficient energy didnât mean it didnât ever need recharging. There was a very small ecto filter, but due to its relative small size, was easy to clean and was fairly stable, so they had a whole closet of them just chilling out, both filled and empty. The battery itself could be charged by ecto sources, Dannyâs own blood, or ambient ectoplasm gained by using something that looked like a solar panel and a satellite dish had a child that the batter could be placed in. The hookup also allowed for like⌠normal D cell batteries.
They would buy dollhouse furniture, and occasionally just buy the big version then shrink it down. Ellie had a huge old house to herself, basically, might as well go ham. And she had a fun time with the designer doll clothes Sam liked to get, although the cheap doll clothes from the store were also fun. Best option was just buying normal clothes and shrinking them, but using things that were already small or just making stuff using normal sized objects was fun.
At some point, though, the Fenton siblings decide to go on a trip. Ellie begs to be taken along, and Jazz agreesâthereâs a doll showcase in Gotham, and Jazz wanted to see if anything caught Ellieâs interest. Danny, having a room in the dollhouse himself, also went along. Might as well make it a siblingâs trip, right?
Ellie can be full size for small chunks of time, which they did while exploring the expo. They found some cool things to add, and some doll clothes Ellie was far too interested in trying on, as well as some to force on Danny later. He sighed, but likeâthatâs his little cousin-sister, heâd put up with it. After all, he learned how to plumb an entire (miniature) house in two days when she refused to move in until it had a fully functional bathroom, so.
Anyways!
They have a fun time, and sure, lugging the relatively giant dollhouse was a PAIN, but it was Ellieâs home, and some stabilizing tech made it relatively safe to move without risking everything freaking breaking. They load everything in again, and the dollhouse is now restocked with clothes, tiny furniture, and a lot of shrunken suppliesâsome foods are just hard to work with full size, and are easier to shrink, okay? Also soap, paper goods, pencils and pens, books, etc. Jazz loads the thing into her car, and Danny offers to stay with Ellie in the dollhouseâso Jazz gets them in, and shrinks them down, holding onto the shrink ray in the meantime.
All is going relatively well in Gotham traffic until thereâs a rogue attack.
Go figure.
Jazz ends up unconscious, and Danny and Ellie canât do anything before the rogue is taken care of and a paramedic team comes up. They hide back in the dollhouse, listening as the medics say she seems to be okay, just unconscious. A relief, but now theyâre taking Jazz away. Fenton luck states sheâs one of the few actually injured. The Bat Brigade comes by, and Batman notices that thereâs a wallet for one Danny Fenton. Red Robin confirms that Jazz was likely here with at least two other people, based on the ticket stubs for the expo. However, there is a strange lack of social media presence, Danny doesnât have a photo ID, and thereâs no way of knowing for SURE that it was just Danny with her, if it was just two other people, or if Danny was in the car with her. Still, as they canât find him but DO have his sister and his wallet, they assume he might be missing, possibly kidnapped.
The Gotham PD of course take in the car, although itâs pretty trashed. Knowing well and good that the dollhouse and such things are actually quite expensive, Commissioner Gordon mentions that it wouldnât be a bad idea for Batman to maybe hold onto the Fentonâs things that *arenât* related to the investigation.
Batman just takes everything. Including a rather peculiar looking gun that seems to have sustained some damage during the attack and car crash.
Gordon sighs. Figures.
So, Danny and Ellie end up in Wayne Manor. Most of the things end up in the Batcave, but Alfred insists that they place the doll things upstairs in the manor properâthe cave isnât *that* damp, but doll things are small and delicate. So, upstairs they go.
At first, itâs fine. Danny and Ellie are fine in the dollhouse, and itâll be at least a week before any of the systems NEED to be worked with.
Then Ellie ends up with a massive migraine. She gets them, on occasion, a sort of growing pain. Usually, they just shrink some medicine for her as she needs it, because sheâs likeâtwelve. While they did have some medicine that had been pre-shrunk, when they were stocking up in Gotham, it turns out pain medicine was more expensive there. Not by much, but they figuredâtheyâll just stock up in Amity Park, theyâll be there in two days.
Haha. Nope.
So, Danny finally has to venture out. He lucks into finding the first aid kitâwhy there was one in the main living room, heâs not sureâand is currently working on trying to get open the blister packet of an ibuprofen when Alfred finds him.
Alfred stares at this tiny boy with a tiny make-shift knife trying to get into⌠over the counter pain medication.
Danny stares at this butler guy who had very gently cleaned the outside and noted the strange fact that the dollhouse did not open.
Danny waves at Alfred.
Alfred waves a tiny finger back.
âHello,â Alfred says softly, which is fantastic because loud noises could get painfulâpart of the reason for Ellieâs headache was an argument between Tim and Damian. âHow do you do?â
Danny hesitates, before he makes an exaggerated so-so gesture.
âYou understand me?â
Danny nodsâitâs rare for people to understand what heâs saying when heâs 5 inches tall.
âHow wonderful,â Alfred smiles. âAnd how can I help our young guest tonight?â
Danny gestures to the blister packet.
âPain medication? Isnât that a little bit large for you.â
The teen thinks for a second on how to communicate. He points to the pill, then makes a slight show of pretending to grind something, like a mortar and pestle.
Thankfully, Alfred got the idea. âWould it be easier if I ground it up for you?â
Danny takes a moment to think before accepting with an enthusiastic nod.
âVery well,â Alfred says, taking the blister packet in one hand. He then hold his other out, palm up, like a platform. âWould you like to come with me?â
Danny âhis survival instincts died when he didâ Fenton gets into Alfredâs hand.
Alfred grinds up the pill into a fine powder. Danny hands him a tiny bottleâstill large in Dannyâs hands, as it was not a shrunk bottleâthat he had tied around his waist. Alfred fills it, and hands it back.
âI assume you came from the tiny house we have in our living room?â
Danny again nods. Alfred takes him there, setting him down outside the front door. Danny bows, and sure itâs Japanese as hell, and heâs white as all get out, but itâs a generally understood gesture of thanks. He hopes.
Alfred understands it just fine. âI bid you goodnight, then. Perhaps we will talk more, when you are feeling better?â
Danny hesitates, again, but he nods. Alfred had been nice enough, so far.
Danny heads in, quickly measuring out the medicineâshrunk pressure plates and scales and weights made what it was measuring relativeâto him the weights on the hand balance scale felt the same weight. Ellie got her medicine, and they both went back to sleep.
He told her in the morning what happened. Ellie was strangely gung-ho about meeting this butler guy, and soâwhen no one else was aroundâ, she and Danny went onto the tiny balcony as Alfred came in to dust.
âOh my,â he said. âThereâs two of you, now. Should I expect more?â

"you too!!"
you swear his smile widens so much his face is stuck that way.
he is adorable. he smiles every day but hearing you say that? it's exactly what he wants!! he wants people to look at him smiling AND wants them smiling in the process (continuous cycle,,)
it's so easy to notice just how much he loves you saying that. round cheeks tinted pink, eyes shut, and set of teeth shared to the world. he is always so animated with everything he does, and this is no exception.
this little rubber man is immediately engulfing you in his arms!! you are not allowed to leave until he says so.
"i'm gonna make you smile too! forever! that way, we'll both look cute when we smile! shishishi!"
scratch protecting him at all costs. he's gonna protect you at all costs.
if you tell him again, grab his cheeks and shake him as if he were a pupper. if he had a tail it'd be wagging 'till he flies. will probably make all types of noises while you do it.
pat the boi.

her smile might be tender but she's giggling internally,, she's flattered!!
"is that so? i'm glad to hear that."
robin gained confidence growing up and she knew she was a gorgeous woman â but hearing it from your lips is still a surprise. sure, she gets compliments on the daily, especially by sanji, but... yours felt much more intimate. she's not blushing because she's flustered or anything, it's just because she loves you. and that comforting warmth in her chest propagated to her neck and face.
it's small moments such as this that remind her of saul's words. each day on the sunny is a reminder, but the little things reinforce those feelings. it was such a wonderful sentiment.
you had no idea what she was thinking about, but the way the corners of her lips eased, your heart jumped too.
she really did look cute while smiling.
"you look pretty, too. smile more often, dear."
she's so lucky to have you. and you're so lucky to have her.

you think he looks... cute?
his eyes widen and he just. stops functioning for a moment. his heart feels lighter and funnier than normal, and his smile returns, a bit more timid than before.
"... really?"
"of course!"
he doesn't even believe itâ he did notice from time to time how you suddenly just,, softened when he did it but he didn't think you'd like it that much. he doesn't smile a lot, sure there are definitely various moments where he feels at peace with the crew, but they come easier with you
when he showed you his coin collection, when you both took a stroll or when you simply cuddled. law might look scary to those outside â but inside, he is still the small boy whose curiosity shined above all. he is very fond of those he cares about, even if he has trouble expressing his emotions and thoughts to others. the confidence he wore doubled for you and his loyal crewmates, but he deserved rest every once in a while. years of trauma dulled him, however, when he felt something, it was strong; almost as if breaking out of a cage. he kept them deep inside, only to burst and even tremble when he was pampered. he didn't know how to react, and only with time would he grow used to it.
so,, please be patient and take care of him,, he looks after himself with everything else, but he's a lost puppy with love and physical affection. if it doesn't show on his face, his heart definitely speeds up at every small thing you tell him, casual or not.
"thank you."
you see him smile a bit more now. give him any type of compliment, affection, or anything,, and the "cold" surgeon of death will be nothing but putty in your hands.
"and... you too."
he really does love you.

"o- oh... my love! you look adorable smiling, too!"
never-ending swarm of compliments. oh and he's hugging you as if his life depends on it.
he's not really used to the sweet words and might think he's undeserving of them. sure, it's a simple smile... but that's exactly why it gets him so much. something so mundane and common yet you see a unique beauty in his and his alone. others can warm your heart too, but he does it in a different way â in a special way.
if you tell him this in the middle of the night and you're both having a calm and peaceful moment he might cry. (if it's daytime and he's feeling a lil sensitive it's tears of joy mixed with laughter,, please hold him)
he's so happy. he'll smile as much as you want him too. if that gets you to do so too, it's a win-win for everyone!
it's usually clear when he feels affectionate,, he is most of the time. but now it DOUBLES. that comment made his day.
he's so giddy and adorable.
"you light my world up, mon rayon de soleil. if i can do so too with a simple smile... then i shall every day."
đđđđđđđ đđđđ
mf's smile never dropped so fast.
"the fuck do you mean CUTE??"
was about to throw a fit but then he just. stares at you. so genuine...
"why you lookin' at me like that?? stop. 'm not fuckin' cute."
staaaare...
"... zero point one percent cute. happy? now stop looking like a goddamn puppy."
but you end up smiling even more. and no matter what he thought, his heart still beat a little faster. you looked pretty cute, too.
yes. he's a bit mean sometimes but you know he means well. he's your little man. like, he made you a tiny metal butterfly once so that even if he was busy with designing and crafting you had something to remind you of him. (he sputtered profanities and became as red as his hair before storming off walking in a wall but he still peeked from a corner to see if you liked it. when he saw your pleased expression, he smirked like the lil shit he is.)
plus... deep inside, he appreciated it. you and killer always managed to calm him down.
he truly is grateful.
"urgh. c'mere. let's go get killer 'n the others to raid a store."
...
bonus after the raid: he does your makeup and uses a great lipstick he stole found to really make you pop with the looted new clothes he got for you. hyped you up and grinned like an idiot. he's doing your nails next. killer gave you a thumbs up before finding more products himself,, raiding stores sure is fun!

Disney's Wish
Look, Disney's Wish has been universally panned across the internet, and for good reason.
Itâs justâŚkind of okay.
When we sit down to watch a Disney filmâyou know, from the company that dominated the animation industry from 1989 to (arguably) the mid 2010âs and defined the medium of animation for decadesâwe expect something magnificent. Now, I could sit here and tell you everything that I thought was wrong with Wish, but if youâre reading this review, then I imagine that youâve already heard the most popular gripes from other users across the web. So, let me focus in:
The biggest problem with Wishâin fact, the only problem with Wishâis Magnifico.
Whoa, thatâs crazy! Thereâre so many things about Wish that couldâve been better! The original concept was stronger! The music was bad--
I hear you, I do. But stay with me here, okay? Take my hand. I studied under artists from the Disney renaissance. I teach an adapted model of Disneyâs story pipeline at a University level. I spent a ridiculous amount of time getting degrees in this, and I am about to dissect this character and the narrative to a stupid degree.
First, we need to understand that a good story doesnât start and end with what we see on the screen. Characters arenât just fictional people; when used well, characters are tools the author uses (or in this case, the director) to convey their message to the audience. Each characterâs struggle should in some way engage with the storyâs message, and consequently, the storyâs theme. Similarly, when we look at our protagonist and our antagonist, we should see their characters and their journeys reflected in one-another.
So, what went wrong between Asha & Magnifico in terms of narrative structure?
Act I
In Wish, weâre introduced to our hero not long into the runtimeâAsha. Sheâs ambitious, caring, and community-oriented; in fact, Asha is truly introduced to the audience through her love of Rosas (in âWelcome to Rosasâ). Sheâs surrounded by a colorful cast of friends who act as servants in the palace, furthering her connection with the idea of community but also telling us that sheâs not of status, and then she makes her way to meet Magnifico for her chance to become his next apprentice.
Quick aside: I'm not going to harp on Asha as a character in the context of Disney's overall canon. Almost every review I've seen covers her as a new addition to Disney's ever-growing repertoire of "Cute Quirky Heroines", and I think to be fair to Asha as an actor in the narrative, it serves her best to be weighed within the context of the story she's part of.
As Asha heads upstairs for her interview, we're introduced to the man of the hour: Magnifico. He lives in a tower high above the population of Rosas, immediately showing us how he differs from Asha; heâs disconnected from his community. He lives above them. He has status. While the broader context of the narrative wants us to believe that this also represents a sense of superiority, I would argue that isnât what Magnificoâs introduction conveys; he's isolated.
Despite this distance, he does connect with Asha in âAt All Costsâ. For a moment, their goals and values align. In fact, they align so well that Magnifico sees Asha as someone who cares as much about Rosas as he does, and almost offers her the position.
⌠Until she asks him to grant Sabaâs wish.
This is framed by the narrative as a misstep. The resonance between their ideals snaps immediately, and Magnifico says something along the line of âWow. Most people wait at least a year before asking for something.â
This disappointment isn't played as coming from a place of power or superiority. He was excited by the idea of working with someone who had the same values as he did, who viewed Rosas in the same way he does, and then learns that Ashaâs motivations at least partially stem from a place of personal gain.
Well, wait, is that really Asha's goal?
While it's not wholistically her goal, it's very explicitly stated & implied that getting Saba's wish granted is at least a part of it. The audience learns (through Asha's conversation with her friends before the interview) that every apprentice Magnifico has ever had gets not only their wish granted, but the wishes of their family, too! Â Asha doesnât deny that this is a perk that sheâs interested in, and I don't think this is a bad thing.
So, Is Ashaâs commitment to Saba selfless, or selfish? Iâm sure the director wanted it to seem selfless, wherein she believes her family member has waited long enough and deserves his wish granted, but we canât ignore the broader context of Asha essentially trying to⌠skip the line.
Then, we get our first point of tension. Magnifico reveals his âtrue colorsâ in snapping at Asha, telling her that he âdecides what people deserveâ. This is supposed to be the great motivator, itâs meant to incite anger in the audienceâafter all, no one gets to decide what you deserve, right? But unfortunately for the integrity of the film and the audience's suspension of disbelief, at least part of Magnificoâs argument is a little too sound to ignore:
Some wishes are too vague and dangerous to grant. Now, thereâs visual irony here; he says this after looking at a 100 old man playing the lute. The idea that something so innocuous could be dangerous is absurd, and the audience is meant to agree.
... But weâve also seen plenty of other wishes that might be chaoticâflying on a rocket to space, anyone? The use of the word vague is important, tooâthis implies wording matters, and that a wish can be misinterpreted or evolve into something that is dangerous even if the original intent was innocuous. His reasoning for people forgetting their wish (protecting them from the sadness of being unable to attain their dreams) is much weaker, but still justifiable (in the way an antagonistâs flawed views can be justified). The film even introduces a facet of Magnificoâs backstory that implies he has personal experience with the grief of losing a dream (in the destruction of his home), but that thread is never touched on again.
What is the audience supposed to take from this encounter? If weâre looking at the directorâs intent, Iâd argue that weâve been introduced to a well-meaning young girl and a king whoâs locked away everyoneâs greatest aspiration because he believes he deserves to have the power to decide who gets to be happy.
But what are we shown? Our heroine, backed by her friends, strives to be Magnificoâs apprentice because she loves the city but also would really like to see her family's wishes granted. When this request is denied and she loses the opportunity to be his apprentice, she deems Magnificoâs judgement unfair & thus begins her journey to free the dreams of Rosasâ people.
In fairness, Magnifico doesnât exhibit sound judgement or kindness through this act of the film. Heâs shown to be fickle, and once his composure cracks, he can be vindictive and sharp. He's not a good guy, but I'd argue he's not outright evil. He's just got the makings of a good villain, and those spikes of volatility do give us a foundation to work off of as he spirals, but as weâll discuss in a bit, the foreshadowing established here isnât used to the ends it implies.
While I was watching this film, I was sure Magnifico was going to be a redeemable villain. He canât connect with people because he's sure they value what he provides more than they value him (as seen in âAt All Costsâ and the aftermath), and Ashaâs asking for more was going to be framed as a mistake. His flaw was keeping his people too safe and never giving them the chance to sink or swim, and he's too far removed from his citizens to see that he is appreciated. Asha does identify this, and the culmination of her journey is giving people the right to choose their path, but the way Magnifico becomes the âtrueâ villain and his motivations for doing so are strangely divorced from what weâre shown in Act I. Â
Act II:
His song, âThis is the Thanks I Get!?â furthers the idea that Magnificoâs ireâand tipping pointâis the fact that he thinks the people heâs built a kingdom for still want more. Over the course of this 3:14 song, we suddenly learn that Magnifico sends other people to help his community and doesnât personally get involved (we never see this outside of this song), and that heâs incredibly vain/narcissistic (he's definitely a narcissist). I think feeling under-appreciated is actually a very strong motivation for Magnifico as a character-turning-villain, and it works very well. Itâs justified based on what weâve seen on screen so far: he feels under-appreciated (even though heâs decidedly notâthe town adores him), he snaps and acts irrationally under stress (as seen with his outburst with Asha), and heâs frustrated that people seem to want more from him (again, as seen with his conversation with Asha in Act I).
             But then⌠he opens the book.
Ah, the book. As an object on screen, we know that it's filled with ancient and evil magic, well-known to be cursed by every relevant character in the film, and kept well-secured under lock and key. But what does it stand for in the context of the narrative's structure? A quick path to power? We're never told that it has any redeeming qualities; Magnifico himself doesn't seem to know what he's looking for when he opens it. It feels... convenient.
I think it's also worth noting that he only turns to the book when he's alone; once again, the idea of connection and community rears it's ugly head! Earlier in the film, Amaya-- his wife-- is present and turns him away from taking that path. In her absence, he makes the wrong choice.
This decision could make sense; it contains powerful magic, and if it were framed in such a way that the people of Rosas were losing faith in Magnificoâs magic, as if what he can do might not be enough anymore after what they felt from Star, going for the book that we know contains spells that go above and beyond what he can already do would be logical. Along the lines of, âIf theyâre not happy with what I do for them, fine. I, ever the âmartyrâ, will do the unthinkable for you, because you want more.â
It would keeps with the idea that Magnifico believes he's still trying to help people, but his motivation has taken his self-imposed pity party and turned it into resentment and spite.
But, thatâs not the case. Instead he talks about reversing that âlightâ, which has had no real negative or tangible consequences on Rosas. Everyone had a warm feeling for a few seconds. Again, itâs meant to paint him as a vain control freak, but⌠he hasnât lost any power. The citizens of Rosas even assume the great showing of magic was Magnifico.
Act III
Then, we get to the consequences of opening the book (and perhaps my biggest qualm with this film). The book is established as being cursed. Magnifico knows it, Asha knows it, and Amayaâwho is introduced as loyal-- knows it. The characters understand his behavior is a direct result of the book, and search for a way to save him. This is only the focus of the film for a few seconds, but if you think about it, the fact that his own wife cannot find a way to free him of the curse heâs been put under is unbelievably tragic. Worse still, upon discovering there is no way to reverse the curse, Magnificoâthe king who built the city & âprotected itâ in his own flawed way for what seems to be centuriesâis thrown out by his wife. You know, the wife who's stood loyal at his side for years?
Itâs played for laughs, but thereâs something unsettling about a character whoâs clearly and explicitly under the influence of a malevolent entity being left⌠unsaved. If you follow the idea of Magnifico being disconnected from community being a driving force behind his arc, the end of the film sees him in a worse situation he was in at the start: truly, fully alone.
They bring in so many opportunities for Magnifico to be sympathetic and act as a foil for Asha; heâs jaded, sheâs not. Heâs overly cautious (even paranoid), sheâs a risk-taker. He turns to power/magic at his lowest point, Asha turns to her friends at her lowest point. Because this dichotomy isnât present, and Magnificoâwho should be redeemableâisnât, the film is so much weaker than it couldâve been. The lack of a strong core dynamic between the protagonist and antagonist echoes through every facet of the film from the music to the characterization to the pacing, and I believe if Magnifico had been more consistent, the film wouldâve greatly improved across the board.
I mean, come on! Imagine if at the end of the film, Ashaâwho, if you remember, did resonate with Magnificoâs values at the start of the filmârecognizes that he's twisted his original ideals and urges him to see the value in the people heâs helped, in their ingenuity, in their gratitude, & that what he was able to do before was enough. Going further, asking what his wish is or wasâlikely something heâs never been askedâ and showing empathy! Weâd come full circle to the start of the film where Asha asks him to grant her wish.
Pushing that further, if Magnificoâs wish is to see Rosas flourish or to be a good/beloved king, he'd have the the opportunity to see the value in failing and how pursuing the dream is its own complex and valuable journey, and how not even he is perfect.
The curse and the book (which, for the purposes of this adjustment, would need to be established as representing the idea of stepping on others to further your own goals/the fast way to success), then serve as the final antagonist, that same curse taking root in the people of Rosas whoâve had their dreams destroyed, and Asha works with the community to quell it. Ashaâs learned her lesson, so has Magnifico, and the true source of evil in the filmâthe bookâis handled independently. Magnifico steps back from his role as King, Amaya still ends up as Queen, and Asha takes her place as the new wish-granter.
This route could even give us the true âDisney villainâ everyoneâs craving; giving the book sentience and having it lure Magnifico in during âThis is the Thanks I Get!?â leaves it as its own chaotic evil entity.
All in all, Magnifico's introduction paved a road to redemption that the rest of the film aggressively refused to deliver on, instead doubling down on weaker motivations that seem to appear out of thin air. Once the audience thinks, hey, that bad guy might have a point, the protagonist has to do a little more heavy lifting to convince us they're wrong.
Look at the big-bad-greats from Disney's library. There isn't a point in the Lion King where we pause and think, "Wait a second, maybe Scar should be the guy who rules the Pridelands." Ursula from the Little Mermaid, though motivated by her banishment from King Triton's Seas, never seems to be the right gal for the throne. Maybe Maleficent doesn't get invited to the princess's birthday party, but we don't watch her curse a baby and think, Yeah, go curse that baby, that's a reasonable response to getting left out.
What do they all have in common? Their motivation is simple, their goal is clear, and they don't care who they hurt in pursuit of what they want.
Magnifico simply doesn't fall into that category. He's motivated by the idea of losing power, which is never a clear or impactful threat. His goal at the start seems to be to protect Rosas, then it turns into protecting his own power, and then-- once he's corrupted-- he wants to capture Star. The problem is, there's no objective to put this power toward. Power for power's sake is useless. Scar craves power because he feels robbed of status. Ursula believes the throne is rightfully hers. Maleficent wanted to make a statement. Magnifico... well, I'm not really sure.

it's silly but the biggest reason why im not into t yet is bc im so afraid of losing my hair. do you have any solutions/tips for it?
first of all, i donât think itâs silly â itâs natural to be worried when hair loss is talked about by so many people as likeâŚone of the worst results of aging for men. listening to my dad talk about how much he hates balding definitely did not make me feel particularly good about the knowledge that i may very well be joining him someday. iâm not saying the fear is right, because i donât think hair loss is something awful that we should avoid at all costs, but itâs an understandable fear given the beauty standards weâre working with, and itâs one that a lot of us (myself included) feel.
one thing thatâs helped me is justâŚpaying more attention to the guys that i interact with on a daily basis. iâve learned two things from it: 1) hair loss is super fucking common. iâd say itâs much harder to find an adult man who isnât balding at all than it is to find one whoâs completely bald. and 2) if you forget everything youâve been told about how bad hair loss is, youâll realize that quite frankly, every single one of those guys looks totally fucking fine. it doesnât ruin their appearance and make them ugly, it looks totally natural and isnât really even something youâd notice if you werenât looking for it. we put so much weight on it but itâs really just not that big of a deal. iâll hear my parents talk shit about men in my family who are losing their hair when i didnât even notice a difference last time i saw them. itâs one of those things (like so many other appearance-related things) that you really only notice at all because youâve been taught that youâre supposed to care about it.
this isnât something iâve done personally, but if you really want to desensitize yourself to the idea of it, embrace the time-honored queer tradition of just shaving your whole damn head! find out what youâd look like without hair, find out how you feel about it and what you can do that makes you feel good about your appearance without hair, test the waters while itâs still a temporary change and not something permanent. that way, it wonât feel like this big scary unknown, and youâll actually have a frame of reference for your feelings about how you look without hair rather than accepting the societal assumption that youâll inevitably hate it. if you donât want to actually shave your head, you could also just fuck around with bald filters or photoshop and see what happens.
oh, and if youâre attracted to men, keep an eye out for guys who are bald or balding and also hot as fuck. in my experience, thereâs no insecurity or potential future insecurity that being gay for other men hasnât helped me with. just off the top of my head, i can think of a couple actors who i think are absolutely fucking gorgeous who have helped me get over my fears about losing my hair. despite what our anti-aging-obsessed world might want you to think, there is no such thing as a physical feature that automatically makes someone less attractive, and while making attractiveness less of a priority in your life is good, it canât hurt to also give yourself some proof that actually, you might lose your hair and look hot as hell doing it.
basically, entertain the possibility that it wonât be a bad thing at all! whether thatâs just because it turns out to be a neutral thing for you or because you end up actually liking it, itâs not an inherently bad thing. iâve ended up liking a lot of things that were âsupposed toâ be bad effects of t â i love the weight iâve gained and the new shape it gives my body, i get a lot of gender euphoria from the fact that my acne is now on parts of my face that i saw a lot of guys in high school get it and iâm not complaining about the scars i get from it either because iâve always liked the added texture that acne scars give my skin, and so on. i think thereâs a lot of joy to be had in the changes weâre taught to fear, once we look past that conditioning and actually explore how we feel about it.
but if itâs something you really donât want and you just want to improve your chances of not having to deal with it, itâs not like thereâs nothing you can do! products like finasteride (oral) and minoxidil (usually topical but i think there might also be oral versions) are pretty commonly used among trans guys, for the purpose of avoiding hair loss and for other reasons, and there are plenty of other anti-hair loss products out there (though i donât know how effective any one of them might be). if itâs a big enough deal for you, you can just decide that youâll go off of t if/when you start noticing signs of it, since no longer having higher t levels would stop the process in its tracks. and if you donât find prevention options that work for you so it ends up happening, you can always explore different hair styles (judging by the pattern of hair loss i see in my family, i suspect that keeping my hair long would make it less obvious if i started losing mine), find your preferred method of covering it when you donât feel good about it (personally i love a good beanie generally and would probably wear them a lot more if i didnât have hair to worry about because my main complaint is the way they press my hair onto my neck), or just shave it all off if you donât like the look of the partial balding but donât mind a shaved head. the point being â you have options!
at the end of the day, whether you go on t or not, youâre going to see your body change as you age in ways that arenât always going to be attractive to others or aesthetically pleasing to you. thatâs just the reality of having a body. even if you never went on t, youâd get older and you might see your hair thin out even if you donât bald, youâll see your skin start to wrinkle and sag in places that used to be smooth, your metabolism might slow or your body fat might start to gather in new places; hell, you might lose your hair for a totally different reason and end up in the same place but without the benefits of having been on t that whole time. life is full of bodily changes like that. transphobes will fearmonger about the permanent changes of testosterone all day long but the truth is, there is no escaping permanent bodily changes. whether or not you go on t, your body now isnât the same as it will be in 1 or 5 or 10 or 20 or 50 years, just like it isnât the same as it was at any point in your life before now. our bodies are never supposed to stop growing and aging and changing throughout our lives. thereâs no guaranteeing that weâll love every single change our bodies go through, but thatâs okay! there are so many things in life that are more important than the way our bodies look. even if you go on t and lose your hair and donât like how it looks, your life wonât be ruined; plenty of other things will bring you joy and more than make up for the insecurities.
just think about the gender euphoria and relief from dysphoria that t could give you. would losing your hair be bad enough to outweigh all of that? or is it just the pressure of a society that decided balding is bad thatâs making you fear one single change despite how much joy you could have if you let that fear go? only you can decide if going on t is worth the potential downsides for you, but i suspect that for most of us, the benefits of going on t far outweigh the possibility of side effects like hair loss happening down the line.
#when i say i love helping people beat their fears about t this is what i mean. i will simply write a whole essay about it#some people might think itâs silly to answer a question like this so extensively#but i donât think it is! i feel like this is a really common fear but also one i donât see talked about much#maybe because itâs so common among cis guys that people donât see it as a question to ask in trans spaces? idk#but i think we should talk about it more. especially when transphobes use it as a way to talk shit about t#ask answered#testosterone#hrt#ftm hrt#hair loss#trans men#transmascs

he wouldn't fail. it wasn't even an option. the sight of you bloodied on the floor ran through his mind, fueling the fire of his soul as he drove back
he had been forced back to HQ first, that idiot only working at irregular hours of the night.
it was three a.m. way past his bedtime, you'd know as he forced you to sleep alongside him at eight. sometimes the sun was even out when he'd go in for the ânight.â
he breathed a sigh of half relief and half annoyance as he saw the annoyingly flashy red car in the parking lot of the âcasinoâ. he walked in to be greeted by the group of them sitting at a poker table, deku at the head.
katsuki took a seat by the rear, eyes closed but ears open. they had started talking already, but minutes were millions with that idiot. so deku had to ask his questions quickly.
âwe just wanted to ask if you'd sold any information on any of our former blood.â midoriya started, eyeing as hawks grew a smirk on his face, his expression one of mock thoughtfulness.
âwell, i did. but on who and what will cost you extra, but you know that already.â
âwe'll pay, just say it.â
hawks shrugged, examining his fingers as he suddenly spoke quickly and quietly. âlet's just say a cloaked man bought the information out of me. wanted bakugo katsuki's addresses and affiliates, former jobs and things he'd been involved with. he offered a lot of money, so my hands were tied. you get it.â a smile broke out onto his face, âbut a little birdie told me he trained under eraserhead, i'll give you that for free since i caused you some problems.â
âwe already figured that out asshole.â katsuki grumbled. âthanks for your help hawks. ah.. he's just upset, and to be frank i am too.â midoriya said, his voice gaining unusual stoicism in the latter half of the sentence. âyou caused issues for me, you know that right? and you can't even give me his identity⌠it's just an utter disgrace.â
hawks put his hands up in mock surrender, âhey, hey. i didn't say i didn't know who he was. but, fact is that it'd cause you a lot of money to buy his identity in full, you know i'd have to break my code for that.â
âyou didn't mind when you sold out bakugo though, did you?â todoroki muttered, flipping a coin in his hand.
âheh, yeah.. i guess i do owe it to you all then. well it's settled,â hawks clapped his hands, âi'll just give you the gang they work under for free.â he slid an envelope over to midoriya. âthanks for the business, sorry for the trouble bakugo.â he rushed out as quickly as he came, the sound of the car speeding out the runway the only thing heard while midoriya tore through the envelope.
written in red ink, with a small smiley face on the very corner, was the name of the gang. âshiketsu?â
midoriya yelled shocked.
they had recently just called a ceasefire to the years of carnage spread between the gangs, the handshake all might did with shindo signified it.
âwhy would they attack bakugo? it just doesn't make sense.â iida pondered, âthough, i guess he did rough a lot of them up back in the wars we had.â
âbut there's no reason for them to hold it against them, we had an agreement. we all drank together and everything!â kirishima exclaimed, his hands gesturing around.
âwe'll have to go over there ourselves.. likely someone has held something against kacchan for a while.â midoriya ordered. âget your things ready, i don't want any weapons noticeable. concealed and carried, burners too.â
âgot it.â they all agreed in unison and got prepared. katsuki was hit with a wave of nostalgia at the notion, putting his favorite gun in his hilt. he always carried, even now, but it was different. this was different.
as he loaded into the car, fist bumping kirishima, he felt almost nervous. he hadn't done anything like this in a while, let alone go to a gang that clearly had something against him. against you.
the ride was quick, kirishima and kaminari blabbing on about how cool it was for him to be back, patting him on the back and smiling. assuring him that they'll find the guy who did this and punt him to the ground.
katsuki could only hope they were right.
they arrived outside the club, walking in immediately to the back. at the sight of deku they opened the doors, nodding at him slightly while letting the group in.
âkacchan, you come with me. everyone else,â he moved to face them, âstay here. on guard, and play nice.â katsuki followed behind him, moving to shindoâs head court. they had to go down an elevator, it was odd really. the last time he was here it was to beat the fuck out of him, and now it was to ask why the hell he picked a fight. with his wife.
it was now six in the damn morning, katsuki was as pissed as ever, midoriya telling him to cool down or he'd leave him behind.
he was a hypocrite though, as he walked in uninvited, a displeased air surrounding him. shindo, who usually invited him over randomly, always accommodating his presence as they were good friends, noticed this odd aura. âmidoriya, what brings you here? seems you're not happy with me.â
midoriya took a breath and sighed. âi don't think you would betray me shindo, but facts are facts. one of my menâ sorry former men,â he gestured over to katsuki, âhad a loved one attacked.â
âthat's horrible.â shindo commented, âyou don't think i did that though.â
ânot you specifically, but.. hawks himself said the one who did was associated with shiketsu.â
âhawks??â shindo almost jumped out of his seat. âwell it wasn't me.. definitely not. couldn't have been any of my closest blood either, the only ones who it could've been..â he snapped his fingers like a realization dawned upon him.
âmust've been this newbie seiji and his quadrant. he's a new guy, a sniper, he had a crazy good background. he worked foââ
âeraserhead. right?â katsuki finally had spoken, stepping forward. âright. well, i caused you two a bit of problems huh? lll help you locate him. that's all though.â shindo stood up, handing them a tracking device.
âa tracker?â midoriya questioned, eyebrow raised. âall fresh blood are unknowingly tracked. it's just protocol here, you get it.â shindo shrugged sheepishly.
âright.. remind me to not get on your bad side.â deku joked, laughing about some nonsense joke. katsuki guessed he'd temporarily forgot about the situation, so he snatched the tracker out his hand. âhey!â
âthis isâŚ,â his heart dropped, hands sweaty and shaking slightly as he started to recognize. the street names, the buildings, his building.
âwhy is this fucker close to my house?!â
all of their eyes collectively shot up. you were home, did it already get out that you were alive?
heart pounding, katsuki went rogue. he blasted out of the room, ignoring midoriyaâs calls behind him. shoving past his blood and the people in the club, only one thing on his mind: you.
kirishima chased after him as he'd ran into the parking lot of the club, hot wiring a sports car and speeding off.
he threw the burner over to kirishima. âcall her, now.â kirishima barely caught the phone, the car drifting and slamming him to its sides so often he felt queasy. âchill out bro!â he dialed the number, but you weren't picking up. he had it on speaker, so the voicemail tone was heard.
âagain.â katsuki ordered, his hands gripping the wheel. âcall her again.â
âfuckâ she's not answering man. we're almost there, she'll be fine.â
âyou don't know that. thatâ that crazy bitch is there.â the tracker now found itself in kirishimaâs other hand, the location reading inside his house. âyoure not gonna want to hear this.â
âdon't fucking tell me. we're here.â he barely pulled in to the driveway when he jumped out the car, braking it abruptly. âback me up.â was all he said as he continued moving forward, not looking back.
he walked up to the door, doing his best to stay quiet as he hopped your white fence and entered through the glass door. he saw you.. and.. surely enough a man he's never seen before.
you seemed off as he barged in, unmoving as he screamt, â[name]! move now!â.
at your silence and stillness, he walked closer to you. only to stop at the red dot aimed at your forehead.
âkatsuki. don't move, please.â you were crying, tears streaming down your face as your hands shook. your knees looked like they were about to falter under your extreme fear, your eyes wide and horrified. âstay back.â
he stilled as well, noting the man who had just the rifle at point blank range. he smirked at katsuki, who had his fists balled in anger. kirishima hadn't revealed his presence, hidden behind the sliding door of your home.
âi don't like to leave my work unfinished, you know?â the man said, keeping his finger close to the trigger as he continued speaking. âi don't know how or why, but she managed to avoid my first shot. man my teacher would be pissed.â
âeraserhead?â
âyeah, eraser. he told me all about how you embarrassed my blood a couple years back. how you drove over half the members to the brink of death.â
âyeah, i did do that.â he felt weird talking about this in front of you, you never like it when he spoke about his job in front of you, and now was no different. other than the bullet in your direction. âthere's a cease now. we're okay, the fucking shit is over.â
âwho gives a fuck? not me. youâ you expect me to believe they don't want you dead? that they don't hold some shit against you?â
âthey don't. put down the gunâ she's not even involved in this.â he slowly moved forward, his hand nearing his gun.
âstay back! or i'll shoot.â he hung his finger right over the trigger, âi'll blow her brains out. back the fuck up.â
katsuki stilled, âdon't do this. why her? why not me if you're problem is with me?â
the man scoffed, purple hair covering his eye as he sneered. âbecause i know that wouldn't hurt you as much as this. as much as killing her in front of you. you're life must've always been disposable, all of us are. normal people don't join gangs.â he laughed, continuing on and on about something as katsuki tried to grab his gun without him noticing.
âwhoâ who fucking tipped you off huh?â katsuki grumbled, attempting to take his attention off his wandering hands.
âwell, it started with shinsou. i stole a couple of his bullets, real easy. that dumbass is trusting as long as you're associated with his teacher.â the guy laughed, âhawks though? i offered him a crazy number, asking for your addresses and shit. he gave in easily.â
he eyed the hand towards katsukiâs waist. âdrop your gun, do you think i'm fucking stupid?â
katsuki tsked, âyou sure do look it,â pulling out the silver ghost and putting it on the floor. it fell by his feet. âkick it away, ill ignore that remark since im feeling gracious.â he did so, making it ricochet off your foot.
filled with a newfound sense of confidence, the man chuckled, going closer to you. he brought his body closer, gun still pointed at you. he was rambling now, his words weren't anything katsuki was focused on. he was looking at his moments, waiting. waiting for a moment to strike, a moment of weakness, something.
and he saw it. his gun faltered, the weight of the large sniper not meant to be freely held in the air finally affecting him, as he had to switch hands to keep supporting it. he was quick to try and fix its position.
but katsuki was quicker, headbutting his stomach. a shot rang out, thankfully the gun had been pointed towards the ceiling, only hitting a random area in the roof. the two on the floor were fighting, fists full of rage as they pushed each other.
the sound of smashed bones and hits so strong katsuki knew they'd bring bruises to his knuckles the next day rang throughout the room, they were both in blinded rage.
after they had been knocked away from eachother, they eyed the gun next to them, chests heaving and body parts broken. they lurched towards the gun, the purple haired man closer to it.
he was going to grab it first, katsuki internally panicked, but the sight that came after only made him worry more.
the sight of you grabbing the gun out of his reach.
you had picked up the gun. you who could barely stomach stomping bugs or killing wasps. you who hated watching horror movies because doing that to people seemed so cruel. you, who had cried when he taught you how to shoot a gun, hoping that this situation would only pop up in his worst nightmares.
you who shakily held up the gun towards the manâs head, making him scoff. âput down the gun, princess. you won't do it.â
your chest was heaving, your knees felt like they were about to give out. your heart was racing, your fingers fumbling over the trigger. âb-back away.â
katsuki didn't know what to say, neither did kirishima who'd burst in from behind you. if he told you to put down the gun, you'd both be in danger. he could take it from you and kill all of you. fuck, why did this have to happen?
âput down the gun, little girl. you're not cut out for this life, so just hand it over. maybe you'll see your husband in purgatory, sure as hell not going to the same place though.â his hand was nearing the gun, his head was so close to the barrel. your hands shook, your eyes closed, eyebrows scrunched, a shaky exhale escaped your lips. katsuki recalled that look from ever shot he'd made you shoot at a range, the face you made when you finally grew enough courage.
â[name]!â
the man's eyes widened as you shot him, point blank rage. his blood splattered over your hello kitty pajamas, but you'd never forget the look on his face when you opened your eyes. the white of his eyes staring at you, the hole that pierced his head and ruined the white of your carpet, the hand that had tried to cover his wound in the millisecond that he had left of his life.
people, people you didn't recognize barged in to the front of your house. they didn't look horrified at the corpse at the floor, they looked more scared of you.
you'll never forget how they all treated you. approaching you like you were a nut case, coaxing you to throw the gun away from you like you didn't want to run away from this whole situation. baby-talking you like you were insane.
you'd never regretted marrying katsuki, but standing here. bloodied and a murderer. that was the first straw for you.
but like always, he'd save you from the mess. when the gun dropped to the floor, on top of the body with a sickening clank! he grabbed you, carrying you up to your shared room.
in your solitude you sobbed, wailing into his chest like you'd done just a day prior. the sun had just risen, illuminating your tears as you shook on your shared bed.
he held you close, reading your mind. âyou're not a monster, or a murderer.â
âhow can you say that though? i just killed him!â your eyes widened, heart beating like crazy. âit was self defense, he would've killed us all. you did good [name].â he held your face in his hands, letting you see him with his bruised and cut up face.
âyou saved me. you saved yourself. you saved anyone that would've been targeted by that freak.â
you finally calmed down enough to go shower. the blood washing off your body didn't help to calm down the storm brewing in your head, the anxiety overcoming you, but he did. he always did.
as he helped rinse the blood of your face, your arms and where it'd been caught in your stomach, replacing it with suds of rosy soap that he'd bought because it âsmelledâ like you, the voices in your head came to a slow stop.
he was the only one who understood, the only one who had gotten his hands bloodied the same way as you, even worse. as he held you that night, whispering sweet nothings into your ear, holding your body close to his as if you were to disappear, you felt normal again.
all traces of the body were gone the next morning, the dent in the ceiling the only remnants of the situation. as katsuki cooked breakfast for the two of you, you couldn't believe how regular it all felt.
how nothing seemed changed, how when kirishima and kaminari came over to cheer you up and check on the two of you they didn't seem phased. how you all sat around your dining room table as normal, katsuki drinking his black coffee while holding your hand under the table, all of you joking around as regular.
how when you went back to your bakery everything was fixed already, a little green sticky note standing out from the display case that was empty because of your absence.
âsorry for the inconveniences mr and mrs. bakugo, take this as our apologies.â
-midoriya, shindo
there were two small doodles of them on the corner, making you laugh as you gawked at the renovation done to your lovely little shop.
you showed it to katsuki who only scoffed, a small smirk on his face as he looked over the fresh paint, tiles, and replaced tables. âdamn nerds.â
you didn't feel so up to baking today, which katsuki understood perfectly. you left the store hand in hand, noticing how the glass of the entrance had been fixed too.
you'd walked to the ramen shop you'd had your first date at, taking the booth in the corner like always. katsuki held your hand, clinging to you more than usual.
he barely let you out of his sight, even offering to feed you, which made you laugh and smack his chopsticks away.
âhey, 'suki.â you asked, poking his side. âit's over right? you're coming home?â
he nodded, swallowing his food before answering. âassholeâs off the streets, that's all i wanted for you, and for us babe.â
âew don't kiss me when you just ate!â
âdo you not love me woman?! we almost fucking died!â
what you didn't know wouldn't hurt you, that's what katsuki thought as he reasoned his white lie.
he pondered how he'd make it up to you. technically he didn't do anything wrong in your eyes but he'd still feel internally guilty. he'd take you out to all your favorites, get you a new purse, do all the chores for a week. that sounded good to him as he made his way back to HQ, his hands in his pockets as midoriya eyed him with a knowing look.
you shouldn't and wouldn't want to know about his true final day right? how he'd ordered kirishima and kaminari do round up the rest of the quadrant. how he'd told them to leave them all for him in the basements of the HQ.
how he truly earned back his reputation of being explosive, leaving the three assholes who'd dared to conspire with a guy like that mangled and unrecognizable. if not for the names written in sharpie on their arms he wouldn't have remembered which one was which either.
he dropped the hammer from his hand, looking down at his work with a sense of satisfaction. he changed out of his clothes into the clean ones he came in with, throwing the bloodied ones into an incinerator.
he let iida and shoto handle the bodies, they were always good at leaving them left without a trace. fast too.
he thought about you the entire walk home. he felt giddy at the thought of seeing you again, excited to just exist in your presence. he stretched his body, working up the courage to see you as he opened the door.
âbabe, you're home! where have you been?â you crashed into his chest, tightening your hold around him as you hugged him.
âout, finishing up loose ends yâknow.â
as you looked up at him, trust and love in your eyes he knew.
he knew that he'd go back, leave, and kill all in a vicious cycle if it all meant coming back to you at the end.
because you were his everything, so he'd do anything for you.

A/N: This will act as a final chapter. The main story is therefore wrapped up- but as always, if you want drabbles, you can still request them.
âĽâââââââââââ˘.âĄ.â˘âââââââââââââĽ
Jungkook has never understood the phrase of your âheart stoppingâ- because how could it ever? Youâd be dead in that case. But right in this moment, he finally gains the knowledge by experiencing it first hand- eyes wide open and body frozen.
Why are you in his bed? Barely dressed, snuggled up to him whoâs only in his underwear?
He thinks through the whole process of yesterday to make sense of this. Did you both get potentially drunk last night? No, not at all. You and him had simply packed your things to drive you to your parents hours away, after having contacted them and told them about everything. He remembers driving you there himself, unloading your bags, leaving you there after waving and driving off. And added to that, that was not last night. It was almost an entire week ago.
He hasnât seen you in days. So what are you doing here?
Itâs not a dream either, clock on his nightstand ticking away, world outside going about its day as the window isnât all closed to let some fresh air in at night. And yet, youâre there- bare legs entangled with his, arms holding onto his.
He doesnât really feel alarmed by the fact that you somehow entered his apartment- you know where he lives after all, and you know the passcode to his door, so itâs not really surprising at all. But what he is questioning is why youâre here- and why youâre in his bed, most of all. Has he forgotten some conversation you mightâve had? Or has something happened to make you so upset that you were craving the comfort of him at any cost?
Now heâs worried.
Shaking you a little to wake you up seems to not be very effective- because you just frown, slap his hand away and bury your face right back into his shoulder as if heâs nothing but an annoying fly. âI know youâre awake.â Jungkook tells you, and at that you actually open one of your eyes, looking up at him with your tail wagging beneath the covers. âWhatâre you doing here?â He asks, and you frown again turning onto your back to look up at him whoâs sat up by now.
âWhy do you sound so upset about that?â You complain with almost a pout in your tone, arms crossed. âI thought couples love reuniting.â You say, and he looks at you, confused.
âCouples?â He questions, and you nod, now visibly unsure as well.
âWell, yeah?â You say, attitude fading and being replaced by uncertainty. âI mean.. we havenât said the L-word yet, but like.. I thought..â you start, scanning his face for any sign that he realizes what you believed you two were. â..since you uh.. called me baby in the car..â you drift off, and still- thereâs no sign of anything on Jungkookâs face as he thinks, and digs around in his memories for the correct moment he mightâve said that. He did, maybe. But he doesnât remember.
âdid I?â He asks, and regrets it the moment he watches the shame visibly wash over you- from the way your ears pin back to the slight change in your gaze, he knows he fucked up by saying it loud- and heâs a little too late as you roll out the bed and run for the bathroom after picking something up from the floor, hiding away now. âhey- wait.â He asks, getting up to walk towards the bathroom floor, knocking on it just to not get an answer. âIâm sure itâs just a misunderstanding-â He starts, trying hard to calm you down- but itâs clearly not working as the door opens, and you slip right past him to run towards the door where your shoes are. âHey no- stay, letâs talk-â
âNuh-uh, nop, this is so embarrassing-â You rant, visibly frustrated over the shoes not closing fast enough as your hands are too shaky to really tie them. So you just make a simple knot and stuff the laces into the corners, before a tattooed hand snatches your other shoe from you. âgive that back!â You bark, not looking at him however as you reach for the shoe heâs holding too high for you. âstop-â
âstop, exactly. Donât run off now, Iâm sorry if I said something that made you think we were more than we are.â He explains, and you visibly deflate at that, ears down low just like your tail. âlet me get dressed, and we can talk, okay?â He asks again, and you just shrug.
He sighs as he puts down the shoe and leaves to tug a shirt and pants onto himself- before he realizes his mistake too late-
Door already slamming shut, your jacket the only thing you left at his place.
Fuck.
âĽâââââââââââ˘.âĄ.â˘âââââââââââââĽ
Heâs been knocking since forever it feels like- but even at his third visit today, you refuse to open the door.
You still got a week left in your apartment- but he knows from first hand experience that you got almost no furniture at all in there anymore, so this canât be an option for you to sleep at. He doesnât want you to be upset at him- and in hindsight, he really couldâve worded things a bit better, but heâs still new to this as much as you are. âplease let me in.â He requests once more as heâs done so often today, sighing. âI missed you too, you know?â He tries this time around, and to be honest, thatâs not even a lie.
Its odd how at first glance, he never thought heâd ever get along with you. But having you gone for almost an entire week, he really felt the way youâd somehow snuck into his heart- every task back to being mundane without you causing a little chaos in his daily life here and there.
âThatâs a lie.â You say, door open just a crack to glare at him through.
âIts not.â He denies. âI just think we never actually talked about what we want to be- so I was surprised to just.. have you turn up out of nowhere in my bed.â He chuckles a little, and you just look down to the floor in shame.
âMâ sorry.â You apologize. âwonât happen again.â
âWhat if I want it to happen again?â
Your gaze snaps up at him at that, confused. âI was just a bit caught off guard, and honestly worried. Did something happen at your parentâs?â He wonders, and you sigh, opening the door to let him into the almost entirely unfurnished apartment- a pile of clothes and a blanket being the last items that were probably used as a makeshift resting spot for you today laying in the corner of the main living room. You sit down there, before letting yourself fall to the side as if exhausted, before you shrug, Jungkook sitting on the floor across from you. âit was.. I donât know.â You admit. âI love them. And I was really super happy to see them again, and spend time there..â you explain, before you pull the blanket between your fingers to have something to hold onto while you stare into nothingness. âBut it was.. really a lot.. I donât know how to explain.â
âI guess thatâs normal. You know, being overwhelmed with it.â Jungkook sympathizes. âIâm exhausted too after spending a day or two with my entire family-pack. Nothing to worry about.â He explains, and you just nod, still avoiding eye contact. âI think whatâs important now then, is what we are to one another. You canât just break into my apartment and sneak into my bed without formally asking me out, you know?â He jokes, but your glare is filled with embarrassment.
âNow I donât want to anymore.â You huff, before you turn around- and at that, Jungkook feels an odd rush underneath his skull, fueled by your subtle and underlying confession in your words.
âYou love me though, donât you?â He asks, leaning in closer as he sits near you now, a hand on your shoulder. âall you need to do is say it.â He chuckles, as you curl up more into yourself as if that would hide you.
âAnd then what?â You huff. âYouâll-â
âIâll say it back.â He cuts you off. âor Iâll say it first, itâs no issue. At this point itâs pretty obvious that Iâm starting to fall in love with you.â He easily spills, and you freeze before you slowly unravel, turning to look at him over your shoulder with a face full of wonder.
âYou are?â You ask hesitantly, and he smiles, before he nods.
âI am.â He responds, confirms his words and you sit up at that, facing him now. âare you?â He wonders, and you nod.
âI am.â You answer, and he laughs.
âSee? Nothing to be scared of. Now come on, Iâm not letting you sleep here.â He says, standing up with you to pick up your stuff-
Unaware of the absolute Rollercoaster he just signed himself up for.
âĽâââââââââââ˘.âĄ.â˘âââââââââââââĽ
Jungkook did not know what he got into when basically confessing his growing feelings.
His mundane life is pretty much over at this point, with you always around and currently basically having moved in until you can figure out if this works or not. After all, youâre not used to living with someone else- and itâs clear that no matter what, youâre the opposite of an angel, still trying your tricks on him to make him dance around like you want him to.
But Jungkook isnât this easy to control. And in a way, itâs a little fun to see how much you can get away with.
âJesus christ, put some clothes on.!â Jungkook curses as be spots you laying on your stomach on his couch, in nothing but a simple top and underwear, tail wagging. The wolf hybrid has to turn away, distract himself with the task of turning the volume of the TV lower, while you just donât understand what his fussing is all about, game on your little console in your hands on pause.
âWhy?â You ask because of that, not sure why heâs being so overly dramatic in your opinion. Itâs just your legs, maybe your butt. So?
âbecause- just put at least some pants on.â, he groans, and you roll your eyes, before you continue your game instead.
Youâre not listening. And heâs not sure if itâs your character- or if you think his decreasing patience is funny to watch.
âDo I have to turn the wifi off to get your full attention?â jungkook asks a little irritated, and you shrug.
âDonât care.â You respond, eyes on the little screen between your hands. âthe game doesnât need internet.â
Suddenly however, the console is taken out of your hands, as he saves your current progress, and puts it into the charging station near the TV. âHey!â You complain, getting up now to rush towards him- and as he makes sure you canât get to your precious game again, he notices that God fucking damn it, youâre not wearing a bra beneath this very flimsy shirt.
Youâre really testing him.
âPut pants on.â He says, and you have the audacity to laugh.
âNah.â You deny, stretching before you step away from him, walking towards the bedroom. âIâll just take a na-â you donât get to say much else, as he suddenly tugs on your tail with just enough force to make it count- but nowhere near enough to hurt. âHey!â You turn around instantly, just to be basically cornered by the wolf hybrid, whoâs backing you into a wall in the living room.
âYouâve got a real smart mouth there.â He simply says, but it sounds like a threat almost-, a very specific kind of threat that makes your skin shiver. âBut you tend to forget when to shut it, clearly.â He scoffs, as your back hits the wall, making you swallow your own saliva nervously.
But he can sense, smell, that this is affecting you not in the direction of fear- but something else entirely.
âYouâre so lucky, you know?â He asks, somewhat- and you look at him with question. âIâm not usually patient like that.â
âWhat would you have done?â You ask, unable to really keep it in as you know that if you hesitate for just a second, youâll never be able to say this out loud, ask for such things. You want them, but youâre also nervous, considering youâve never actually gotten this far with anyone before. âPut me in timeout?â You almost challenge, tail beginning to sway a little with newfound confidence, when he just shrugs it off, and shakes his head.
âNo.â He denies. âBrats like you need something that.. Lasts longer.â He words out, and at that, scenes manifest inside your head that make you visibly shy.
Youâre not sure if he realized it yet, but a lot of the things you do, you do on full purpose. You like this game of push and pull, you think its exciting and fun- so you hope that with words like that, he means them as such, because that would mean that heâs both aware of the little game youâre playing, and also a willing participant in it.
You donât want him to just feel like youâre made of porcelain, possibly breaking at the slightest touch.
âSuch as?â You ask, and he leans in closer at that, almost unbearably so.
âfuck around and find out, Princess.â
âĽâââââââââââ˘.âĄ.â˘âââââââââââââĽ
Turns out you can be sickeningly sweet almost when you really want to- currently happily laying on his stomach after helping him cook and wash the dishes after, awfully nice today and in a good mood.
It makes him wonder. Are you up to something? Or are you simply not who he thought you were? It would be just a slight bit disappointing, if he was to be honest- considering heâd actually grown quite fond of the idea of you with your ass spanked bright red, Jungkook basically having to work for your submission. But maybe youâre just all bark and no bite- just yapping around, nothing more than that.
Even that would be fine at this point, as long as heâs got you.
Itâs when the male lead kisses the female love interest in the admittedly boring drama you both watch on TV, than he notices you staring at the scene. Heâs notice too that at this point in time, one might think you wouldâve kissed by now- but thatâs not the case, neither of you seemingly brave enough to make that step towards the other. But itâs clear from the way you look at the scene in front of you with a shy sense of longing, that you want it- he just needs to find the perfect moment for it.
After all, he doesnât just want to be any partner for you. He wants to be the one and only.
âIâm tired.â You yawn and stretch, arms above your head before you look at him. âcan I get a goodnight-kiss?â You boldly ask, and Jungkook laughs, before he moves to basically lean over you entirely, hands pressing into the cushioning of the couch below you.
And then he finally leans in to peck your lips- or at least that was his intention. You chase after his lips and even move your hands to pull him back, making him act on instinct as he pushes them back, pins them down with his fingers around your wrists. But he has to admit, either the lip balm youâre using is sweet as honey, or heâs surely found the perfect person to kiss in you-
Because he doesnât want to stop either.
âYou said youâre tired.â He hums in when you break apart for just a second, and you shake your head.
ânot anymore.â You deny his claims, making him chuckle.
âNot anymore?â He repeats, teasingly escaping your advances. You shake your head, as your legs move to rest around his waist, signals sent pretty clear to him as he watches you try and seduce him. âYouâre right.. Youâre clearly not yet tired.â He mumbles, as he leans down to kiss you again, letting himself be swept away by the moment, as you both just enjoy each otherâs presence.
âJungkook..â you whine impatiently, hips squirming around in search of any form of friction, while he just laughs under his breath.
âWhat do you want?â He asks. âthis is our first time, after all. I donât know what you like- or what you can handle.â He teases- though itâs clear that thereâs an underlying truth to his words. This is indeed clearly going in a very obvious direction, and you feel warm inside knowing that he actually cares this much about your experience during this.
âI donât know..â you admit. âI just.. always do it myself, so I donât know.â You tell him, and he nods, accepting that as his kisses move to your neck, where he makes sure to leave his marks.
Because he wants you to be his, and his alone.
âhow far do you want to go?â He asks, pausing his advances for a moment to look at you.
âAll the way.â You tell him, and he nods.
âYou sure?â He questions, and again, you nod- this time visibly serious.
âThereâs no one Iâd rather be with like that than you.â You say, and he soaks those words up like a sponge, before he leans back down to kiss you- softer now, more gentle, as if heâs savoring you and your open appreciation for him in this moment.
And he does. He really does.
And you know, through the softness of his touch and the slow and gentle manner in which he undresses you, that tonight, heâs going easy on you.
Tonight, heâs just going to show you real love.
âĽâââââââââââ˘.âĄ.â˘âââââââââââââĽ
Something clicked into place last night.
As if heâs finally committed himself to you, heâs relaxed, comfortable and most of all; confident. And youâre strangely excited about this new side of him, because itâs unbelievably entertaining to play around with him now that heâs not holding himself back any longer.
Youre currently all laughing, some friendâs of Jungkookâs having spotted him at the grocery store with you, eager to get to know the girl who made him catch feelings. And youâre having a lot of fun hearing some embarrassing facts about your now boyfriend- whoâs also laughing along, despite being the butt of the joke. Even when you make jokes about him too he doesnât seem bothered-
Until a hand finds the back of your neck, fingers pressing down a little to make sure you know heâs got a good grip on you. And like a cat grabbed by its weak spot, you freeze, one look at him making you almost cower in public as his dark eyes gaze down at you. âyeah- but I think weâll better head home now.â Jungkook decides to his friends, casually smiling while he says goodbye to his friends. And even when his hand leaves you, youâre strangely affected- waiting for something to happen, as he calmly brings the groceries to the car.
You mustâve gotten away this time, since he seems pretty relaxed on the way back home. Good thing you were in public.
However, once back inside your now shared four walls, things take a turn again when, instead of helping him unpack the groceries, you lounge on his sofa- TV instantly turned on as you watch, and Jungkook makes sure to put everything where it belongs by himself.
Your punishment follows late- but you know when itâs time.
The TV is wordlessly turned off, but you stop mid-breath trying to complain about it, because the smile he sends you is none of pure kindness. He looks almost like a villain ready to move on with his sinister plans, as he approaches you. âYou think itâs funny, donât you?â He asks, and when you donât reply, he clarifies further. âyou love getting on my nerves.â He states, and you have the audacity to shrug.
âWhatâre you gonna do about it?â
That was definitely your last mistake made- challenging him, well aware of how he will potentially punish you.
Heâs quick to grab at your hips, no matter how fast youâd wanted to dash off. His grip is tight and secure as he carries you unto the bedroom, where he closes the door with his foot, putting you down on the big mattress. And there you sit- waiting, not sure what his silence means.
âEarly bedtime, huh?â You scoff, trying to appear unimpressed.
âIts what you make of it.â He however answers. âthis is your last chance to get on my good side, Princess.â
âor what?â You ask with an attitude, still not believing in hit bite at all.
Jungkook sits down at that, back against the door, eyes reflecting a little in the darkness of the bedroom. Heâs a wolf, deep down, even if heâs mixed- heâs got time, and patience, and he knows it. Heâs well aware that after yesterdayâs endeavors, youâve been trying to âseduceâ him all day long- wanting more, wanting it again, because as youâd told him last night, you âcanât do it the same he doesâ. Itâs normal, as a hybrid-
And as someone like you in particular, who craves everything pleasurable in life.
Youâre still sitting there, waiting, adjusting your position a bit, squirming under his watchful eyes. Youâre not sure what heâs aiming at here, but it makes you a little uncomfortable-
Mostly because you can feel the way your underwear is soaking up your arousal over this entire situation.
âGo to sleep, baby.â He tells you with fake gentleness in his voice. âitâs late, isnât it?â
âI donât want to sleep.â You respond, and he chuckles.
âI know.â He tells you.
âJungkook..â you whine, hoping this will be enough to break him. âIâm sorry..â you admit, ears drooping low, as you look at your lap in shame.
But heâs not fooled.
âtry again, princess.â He simply says. âI know youâre not sorry.â
Fuck. What else could you do to get him to crack?
Manipulating him into doing what you wanted him to has worked in the past, so it shouldnât be this hard. And heâs already seen you naked yesterday, so you donât have to have shame about what you do next- moving your legs to give him a bit of a teaser to your soiled underwear beneath your skirt, feet digging into the bed below as you try and get under his skin this way.
ââŚcan you help me?â You wonder, noticing how his eyes were captured by the sight for just a second.
âI can.â He nods, getting up to walk over to you- and your tail wags, triumph yours to claim. Itâs still so easy to make him dance around like a puppet on strings, because down the line, heâs just another guy whoâs quickly caught up in his own lust-
His face is inches from yours, eyes piercing into yours as he still got that wolfish smirk on his lips.
âBut I donât want to.â
Wait- thatâs not part of the script.
âdo it yourself, puppy.â He laughs, opening the bedroom door. âYou know how to-â
âNo!â You call out, making him turn his head over his shoulder to look at you. âI want you!â You argue, making him laugh.
âtoo bad.â He denies, and at that you get up, one leg out of the bed already. âget back on the bed.â He demands, and you huff.
âso you really putting me in timeout?â You scoff, stepping out with the other leg as well.
âYou want to act like a brat so Iâll treat you as such.â He explains. âget back on the bed until Iâm done cooking.â
âNo.â You deny, walking closer.
He says your name, low and clearly in a warning, but you donât care.
Itâs then that your world turns upside down for a second, before youâre thrown back onto the bouncing mattress. You canât help the sound that escapes your lips at his display of strength over you, a hand still on your arm to push you down. âdoes pissing me off make you that horny?â He asks, almost in a demeaning tone. âgushing into your panties just because youâre getting on my nerves, huh?â He continues, and your tail still wags.
âIts funny.â You admit, giggling, when a hand slaps your inner thigh, skirt having risen up to cover basically nothing anymore. âah-!â You call out in surprise, making him laugh.
âit is.â He agrees. âitâs funny how you think you can play me.â
The next second, heâs tugging your underwear off of you, strings of sticky arousal still trying to hold onto the soiled fabric for a good stretch before the piece of clothing is thrown somewhere. âgotta get you off to make you listen?â He asks, agitated, hand between your legs a complete contrast to the gentle way heâs helped you reach highest pleasure last night. âgotta fuck you stupid so youâre finally a good girl for once?â He questions, and you just nod, frantically, overwhelmed by the way he pushes two of his fingers in already, thumb rolling over your most sensitive spot.
âPlease-â you start, but he only laughs down at you.
âPlease? Thatâs a new sound.â He mocks you. His ruthless acts down settle down at all however- instead, he takes his hand away from you, and wipes it on his pants. Youâre left alone, watching him, unsure whatâs happening. âYou ready to listen?â He asks. What an asshole. He knows exactly that in your state youâd accept anything-
âWhy did you stop?â You whine however, and your downfall has been sealed.
Only moments later, as you try and escape, heâs on top of you, using his entire body to cage you in, hand around your throat- though heâs gentle enough to not hurt you at all. The hold he has still arches your back, pushes your behind right into him. And considering the fact that youâre on birth control, he doesnât need to search for any other contraceptive right now, able to just pull himself out of his cotton pants, not needing much to get himself ready.
You whine in complaint when he pushes in. He knows itâs a bluff.
âoh shut up.â He growls into the back of your neck. âYou can take it.â He states, well aware that you can. And it seems like finally, youâre quiet and compliant- if only after his fingers press down on your tongue, occupying your mouth with something other than whining. âso this is what it needs to shut you up?â He mocks you. âmy cock inside, and my fingers in your mouth?â He purrs against your neck, and you just whimper pathetically.
His pace is steady, but he doesnât even need to move anymore he notices- youâre for once doing all the work for him, bouncing on his lap like youâve done this a million times already.
Your stamina does however not match up with his, as your thighs quiver, orgasm approaching you and causing you to lose tempo. Something he catches up on- taking over as he rolls his hips into you with dancerâs precision, while you emit sounds of pleasure the second his digits leave your mouth. You fall forward once he lets go of you entirely, spent.
âIâm not done with you yet.â He however days, as he manhandles you onto your back beneath him, hands tugging on your legs to move them exactly where he wants them. âwants to be fucked stupid but canât even keep up with me.â He teases, shaking his head as he pushes his length through your thighs, remnants of your own arousal making the movement easy and slick. Your hands reach out sleepily, fingers touching the very tip every time it appears between your legs, and you giggle, visibly out of your mind.
But he notices something else too.
You look entirely relaxed, not even a glimmer of any of your usual insecurities present. Youâre just existing in the moment, enjoying this, enjoying what he offers you, and nothing else.
Your head must really just be TV static.
You open your legs again, whining once more as he watches you reach for his hips- one orgasm not enough still, or maybe you just want to please him the best you can. Heâs going easy on you this time, he decides, complying with your wordless demand to get back inside you, a wish he happily grants.
You donât hold back, only shutting up when he leans down to kiss you, needy and chaotic, tongue and bitten lips. But once his hand is between you both, pushing you over the edge alongside him, you squirm once more- his release spilling inside of you, something swelling that you didnât feel yesterday.
Itâs him. Heâs locking himself inside you to make sure you donât spill any of it.
Which isnât all that easy, since he appears to be a but of an overachiever- some of it already escaping you the second he softens up, cunt pushing out the translucent white as he pulls out of you.
Youâre a mess.
Clothes somewhat still on, skin sweaty, opening between hour legs still gaping, clenching around nothing as your body calms down.
But, to be fair-
You also, finally, shut your mouth.
âĽâââââââââââ˘.âĄ.â˘âââââââââââââĽ
âYou can be so gentle!â You complain as he helps you put lotion on your skin after your shower, already back to your old self not even a couple of hours after.
âI can.â He laughs.
âBut something tells me that you like it rough.â
Oh-
How right he is.

Some notes under the snacking issue of Sebastian post caused my brain to weeoweeo it way too much than I expected, so well here are the continuing of topic xd
Sorry it's an essay because I can't write succinctly
1. How did the evil corporation(insert itâs name please) feed?
As far as Iâm concerned, the shady corpo experimented on him to check/make people to able to breathe under water. Keeping him alive was quite crucial to success so I think they would provided him with proper amount of of food or at least the full nutrient content preparation. However, it changed when his body started to rapidly mutate, grow and evolve into what heâs now. The vast increase in his need of food and the fact that the gills didnât develop very well, due to the scientists not very smart move - mixing his DNA with atmospheric oxygen snake and whale, caused the team to shrink his portion and gave him bare minimum in form of drip-feed⌠Auch
2. How didnât he die from literally any nutrient deficiency sickness?
As I said it before I do not know the lore very much only basis. So forgive if I mess up some facts about the events. Going back to topic, after the event of beating the life out of his guards/special troops everyone left the lab immediately. Leaving everything behind including the rations, which were sent there for the staff to eat, all kind of medicine - pills, drops, syrups, injections etc. and whatever crops left( no idea if in the game is any âfarmâ but the transport would be extremely expensive so I think they would love to slash costs especially when there are vertical farms which are efficient, cheap and easy to maintain and during evacuation they could simply destroy it if nothing like this exists there). He simply gain most of crucial elements via all those supplements. Especially via drips which are the least painful without activating all digestive track. I like to think the reason why his extra arm is in the bandages is the fact that he often injects himself with various needles and his veins are in horrible state. At some point point all these supplements will end and it wonât end well for him, but not yet. Thatâs solves a bit the issue of lack of scurvy, nyctalopia and any other issues alike. Hereâs the misery fish and his banana bag of lovely Zn and vit C
3. Another snacking issue
He is in constant state of hunger. No escape from it. The small human stomach ruthlessly dictates the size of his next snack and for how long he cannot eat, because itâs full, but itâs better to have at least one full than none. That could cause another big issue which is connected with the unconditional reflex - food in mouth equals activiting the synthesis of digestive enzymes and HCl in both tracks at the same time. Both are connected to one nervous system and the information goes to both, no matter if only one should start working. Not good situation, one belly is digesting itself, easy way to get ulcers or esophagitis, which not only are extremely painful but also deadly especially in his case with no health care or even chance to get any. He had to figure it out quite quickly how to make his eating as harmless as itâs possible. The easiest way I think would be simply some herby stomach drop, the one which highers the ph and stops HCl from being created. But I fear it works on human part- So he had to create strict timetable - when he eats, when he takes drops, when he can eat again. To keep the snake stomach in check and never letting it be fully empty and miraculously avoid the sinister autodigestive ideas of snake element. So his best friend is a tiny bottle of disgusting drops from a nurse office
4. How not to starve to death with body like that?
Dense soup. Maximum proteins in the smallest velocity and in easy to consume and digest way. It passes both stomachs faster because tough long chains are already broken into smaller ones so it can be faster absorbed and used. Itâs also very easy to make and can contain many ingredients giving the biggest diversity in one sip. Still starves because itâs not enough, but there is no better way :â)
And no he wouldn't threaten anyone that he would add them to his soup. He was a human and he exactly knows there are too many weird fellas out there. No way he'll risk getting new traumatic event, he won't take it anymore-
The last thing is this two sentences:
Honestly I wasn't prepared to read something like this with straight face at 6AM. It wasn't in my weekly bingo card, but jup it made my day, thanks

thinking about post-conan Shinichi's relationship with the detective boys for my fanfic from an outside perspective is so funny
like Megure be calling like "kudo-kun sorry to wake you so early but come quick there's been a murder" and Shinichi be like "okay I'll wake up the the detective boys" and Megure is like "??? what do you mean"
and Shinichi is like yeah? we were having a sleepover at the professors house
and everyone is wondering why the hell is a 25 yo ass man having sleepovers with a bunch of 15 yo kids and also why they address him so disrespectfully when they think nobody is watching
he gossips with these children as if they were the same age and when people ask them how they became friends he says "oh they're not my friends they're my cousin's" which answers absolutely nothing (it's not like he can say they used to be classmates...)
haibara version under the cut
tbh Haibara would be different because unlike Conan she never really acted like "one of them" and always had that "mature older sister" vibe (in canon adults have taken her for a middle schooler because of that)
so even if she decided to go back to being an adult while maintaining her relationship with the kids (in my fic she's still living at the professors house as Shiho Miyano) their relationship wouldn't change much since they were always more respectful towards her, and there was always some sort of distance in the way she addresses them.
the only thing that changes is that now that's she's legally considered to be an adult she can take them on trips and she does that A LOT. she takes them camping she takes them all around the country and sometimes even on expensive trips abroad they're inseparable. those kids are HER kids
(older, happier shiho with a caring found family at her side my beloved)
(my hc for this fanfic is that while shinichi immediately took the antidote when it was completed, haibara hesitated for a long time but decided to take it in the end because she realized that becoming Shiho Miyano again didn't have to be at the cost of everything she had gained as Ai Haibara)
(meanwhile Shinichi wanted to get his old life back so much that it actually took a lot more time to realize all the good things that Conan had brought into his life and seeing Shiho build her new life on top of what she had experienced as Ai Haibara really helps him come to the realization that Shinichi Kudo and Conan Edogawa don't have to be separate people, at least not to his close friends and family)

you are in love series - part one
one look, dark room
PAIRING: tfawts!bucky x grad student!reader
Summary: Moving to NYC to go to grad school, your friend's dad has a connection with the owner of a rental building in Brooklyn where you can live on your own, for cheaper than you could get anywhere else. On a student's budget, you strive to still make your place your own by thrifting as much decor as possible. Meeting your quiet and somewhat secretive neighbor, James, you gain some free labor to help you move the random stuff you buy, and with that he may be growing to love parts of the modern world he has been missing. With you in a big, new city feeling alone for the first time and Bucky wanting to make a connection with someone other than Sam and his therapist, maybe online marketplaces and a turntable will bring you both what you need most.
warnings: mild language
word count: 4.7k
a/n: this is my first time EVER writing fiction, usually I only ever write academic papers so this is fun. :) I read over and revised this chapter so many times, so I hope you enjoy it! Feedback is always welcomed and I'm excited to start on the next chapter.
a/n: also!! sorry for it being so long genuinely just so much had to happen in this chapter for it to be set up the way I wanted, which I think I did well enough. lmk what you think <3
Why did I think carrying this by myself was a good idea? It might be cute and a great deal, but I donât think I'll be able to feel my arms tomorrow. I might need to hit the gym again before I find more bargains like this. Hell, maybe I'll even invest in a neck towel, because this heat is unbearable. Iâve been searching for some larger pieces to fill my apartment, and this vintage bar cart should fit perfectly. Just five more blocks to go.
Moving here alone has certainly come with its challenges: being on my own in such a big city, dealing with a lot of stress, and managing on a tight budget. But Iâm determined to make it work though and prove everyone wrong. Growing up, you see so many romcoms where the heroine leaves everything behind to chase her dreams in NYC, landing a job at a magazine or fashion house, living in a gorgeous high-rise, and meeting the perfect guy. Itâs a beautiful fantasy really, but the reality is much tougher. New York isnât a movie set; itâs a real city with real people, and you have to work just as hard, if not harder, to be here. I know that, but it feels like a majority of my people back home DONâT know that I know that.
I came here for school. In about two months, Iâll be starting my Masterâs program at NYU. I donât think Iâve ever been as proud as when I received my acceptance email. I worked my ass off in undergrad to earn strong recommendations and good academic standing, and seeing it all come together was a huge reliefâuntil the reality of the cost hit me.
Luckily, a friend's dad has a connection with a landlord in Brooklyn and got me a good deal on a place of my own. Itâs incredible not to have a roommate in this market, especially in a place where your bed doesnât touch your stove, though it can be a bit lonely.
Finally, reaching the stoop, out of breath, you set the cart down on the pavement. Wiping your brow, you notice the street is unusually quiet for this time of day. The city never truly sleeps, but the residential streets seem to take occasional naps. A little breath of air somewhere where it feels like oxygen is running out sometimes. Light filters through the trees, momentarily blinding you, and you turn back toward the building.
âHow on earth am I going to get this up to my floor?â
Carrying it down the street was one thing, but hauling it up the stairs is a whole different challenge. Plus, who knows when the building's maintenance has last been here, the steps might not hold up under the cartâs weight. They usually feel like they could give away holding one person.
Deciding that falling to your death and being crushed isnât really how you want to go, you open the double doors and drag the cart into the lobby, using the wheels on one side. Passing the main desk where the worker, who looks completely uninterested, engrossed in a crossword puzzle, you make your way to the end of the hall and start pulling the cart backwards up the incline of the stairwell.
âNah, I canât,â you say aloud, after struggling up two floors, letting the cart rest on the landing. Thereâs still three more floors to go, but your body is clearly telling you the cart belongs right here. Maybe the universe wants it to stay hereâwho knows, maybe the entire second floor needs a communal bar more than you do.
âExcuse me,â a quiet but rough male voice comes from behind me. You turn around to see himâa guy youâve seen around your floor a few times, though youâve never talked. One of the neighbors. You quickly realize youâre blocking the entire staircase.
âSorry! Oh my gosh, Iâm so sorry. Iâll move this um â just give me a second.â
You shove the cart closer to the wall to make some space for him to pass, but he stays put, his gloved hands in his pockets. Heâs definitely handsomeâtall and solid, but not intimidating. His furrowed brow and tight-lipped expression donât exactly scream âwelcome,â but heâs still got a certain charm.
He shifts a bit, clearly wanting to say something but hesitating. Feeling a bit awkward under his gaze, you decide to try talking to him again.
âYou can just squeeze by if you want. Itâs just really heavy, so Iâm taking a quick break before I try lifting it up again.â
After a moment, he seems to make up his mind and asks, âDo you need help?â
Looking back at him, you consider saying no. You pride yourself on being independent and capable, and part of you wants to insist you can handle it. But then you think about the struggle of getting the cart up the last two flights of stairsâonly this time, it's threeâand decide against it.
âYou wouldnât mind? Youâre headed down, Iâm sure youâve got somewhere else to be.â
He gives a little smirk that makes you feel a bit dizzy.
âWell, Iâm already here so.â
You nod slowly, a small smile appearing on your face.
âSure, you can take this end, and Iâll get this oââ you start to say, but before you can finish, heâs already in front of you, lifting the cart with ease and starting up the stairs without breaking a sweat.
âHey! Be careful, uhâ,â you pause, realizing you donât know his name.
He picks up on your hesitation and hesitates himself, considering whether to give his name. Heâs wary of how others might perceive him, potentially recognizing his name from past news broadcasts or papers, still dealing with the shadows of his past despite his efforts to make amends. Not wanting to be dishonest, he chooses the safe option.
âJames.â
âBe careful, James. I donât want you tripping and falling on my account.â
âWonât happen, doll.â
âWhat-,â you start, caught off guard by the pet name, âwhat if it does?â
âIt wonât, see?â With the last few steps, you and James arrive at your floor. âAlready here.â
He must have seen you around before too, to know where you live.
He gives you a quick look and then carries the cart to your door.
âThis is yours, right?â He turns and looks at you expectantly. You rush over, fumbling for your keys to unlock the door. If heâs willing to move it all the way, who are you to turn him down?
You lead James into your apartment, wondering if it looks anything like his. The layout canât be that different; itâs not exactly a luxury building.
He strolls further into the room.
âYou can set it right here,â you say quickly. âThank you for bringing it up for me. I was honestly thinking about giving up when you showed up.â
Setting the cart where you indicated, he straightens up, rolls his shoulders back, and gives you a look that feels intense.
âItâs no problem.â
His gaze wanders around your apartment, taking in the mix of vintage furniture and eclectic decor. On a studentâs budget, youâve filled your space with secondhand finds. Itâs more affordable and personal that way. The place might not be filled with new things, but itâs entirely curated by you. Finding beauty in the mix of old and new is something you do well, and now, thanks to James, you have one more piece to add.
Jamesâs eyes land on your turntable setup. He seems intrigued by your collection of records but doesnât say anything, turning his attention back to you.
âI have to go.â
Your eyebrows lift at his abruptness. Sensing your surprise, he quickly adds, âIâve got an appointment.â
You nod vigorously, urging him to go and thanking him again for his kindness. Feeling a bit sad that this chance encounter with your new neighbor is ending so quickly, you call out as he heads for the door.
âIâll see you around then? Since you live here too.â
He turns on his heel, giving you one last smirk.
âYeah, youâll see me.â
As he heads down the stairs, you shut your door and lock it behind you. Wandering over to where Jamesâs gaze lingered, you pull an album from the shelf, lift the acrylic cover on your turntable, and set the record down. You close the cover, push play, and let the needle softly drop onto the vinyl. As the music starts, your mind drifts back to James.
Embarrassingly, you find yourself hoping this isnât a one-time encounter. You donât know much about him beyond his name, but thereâs something about him that makes you want to see him again.
âTwo hundred bucks for this is crazy,â you mutter to yourself, staring in disbelief at the sofa youâre eyeing on Facebook Marketplace.
âPeople are practically giving this stuff away.â
Not wanting to miss out on such a good deal, you message the seller to check if itâs still available.
Since you got the bar cart about a week and a half ago, you havenât picked up anything else. With the July heat blasting, just thinking about moving a sofa in this weather makes you want to rip off your skin to cool down.
You canât help but think of James, who youâve seen briefly in the hallway since your last encounter. He just nodded as he passed by, and that was it.
Your phone dings, snapping you out of your thoughts. The seller confirms the sofa is still available and offers to deliver it since they have a truck.
Excited, you reply with a yes, and they let you know theyâll head your way soon.
You get up to rearrange your furniture, making space for the new sofa. You donât have much to move since youâve been slowly collecting things. As you shift the pieces around, your turntable stops, signaling itâs time to flip the record. After you do, you take a moment to picture how the sofa will fit in the space.
Then it hits youâmoving a sofa is way heavier than the bar cart. If you struggled with that, how on earth will you manage this?
âIndependent woman, my ass.â
With the delivery imminent, you decide on the only solution you can think of. Without hesitation, you head to the apartment across the hall and knock softly on the door. You wait, hoping James will answer. After a moment of shuffling and then silence, you start to wonder if you should just try something else.
Just then, the door cracks open, revealing half of Jamesâs face. He looks curious but not annoyedâno one usually visits him.
âHey! James! Great to see you again! I hope Iâm not interrupting anything, but I was wondering if you could help me out a bit? I just bought a sofa from this marketplace deal, and the sellerâs coming to drop it off right now. He said heâd deliver it, but didnât offer to help get it up to my apartment. I realized a sofa is way heavier than a bar cart, and you saw me struggle with that, so I was kinda sorta hoping you could help me bring it up here?â
After your rambling, you offer him a hopeful smile, waiting for his response.
A few moments of silence later, that smirk youâve been missing appears on his face. Opening the door wider, he comments with a grin.
âYou bought another thing you knew you couldnât get up the stairs?â
âI honestly didnât think it through. The deal was too good to pass up. Iâm really sorry for bothering you. I can try to find someone else if youâre busy.â
âI didnât say I wouldnât help, doll.â
The smile that blooms on your face is unavoidable.
As the delivery guy drives away, James shows you where to grab the sofa and effortlessly lifts the other end. He encourages you to take the lead, making sure the weight is on him as you both navigate the stairs. With minimal effort, you get the sofa up to your place.
After some awkward maneuvering, you finally get the sofa into your apartment through the thin door and set it down. You put your hands on your hips and exhale deeply, only to find James already looking at you with that same intense gaze from before. It makes you a little nervous.
You canât help but feel gratefulâthereâs no way you would have managed this on your own.
âI could have handled the bar cart,â you say, nodding toward the cart now adorned with bottles in the corner, âbut this? No chance. Thanks so much for your help.â
âDonât worry about it,â he replies. âI wasnât busy.â
As you look at him, you start to feel like you know him from somewhere beyond being just a neighbor. Maybe youâve seen him around the city before you moved?
Brushing off the thought, you offer, âYouâve helped me out twice now, and it doesnât feel right not to return the favor. If your whole evening consists of not being busy, why not stay for dinner? I promise Iâll cook something totally good and not poisonous.â
James looks surprised by your offer but quickly hides it.
âYou donât need to do that. You donât owe me anything,â he says, not wanting you to feel obligated or uncomfortable. He worries that his presence might not be enjoyable.
He wishes he could be as charming as he was back in the 40s. Being friendly used to come easily, and if he were still the same person he was at 26, he wouldnât have left so quickly after helping you on the stairs the first time. He wouldnât have had a therapists appointment to go to and he wouldnât have a hidden arm made of metal. Heâd have asked you to dinner or for you to let him take you dancing instead in return for his brawn. Now, he struggles to make new connections beyond a few familiar faces, like Sam, and asking someone for a dance feels out of reach.
âNo, no! Stay, I insist! It gets kind of lonely around here, doesnât it? Why not have a friend dinner?â you press, hoping heâll take you up on the offer.
Seeing your sincerity, though still feeling a bit miffed, he finally agrees.
âYeah, sure. I can stay.â
James settles onto the sofa while you work in the kitchen. Youâve decided on making some stuffed ravioli and garlic breadâeasy, delicious, hard to mess up.
Before getting into cooking, you switch out the record, letting new music drift softly through the space. Unbeknownst to you, James watches closely, paying attention to how you handle the records and the turntable. The care you take when putting a record back in its slip, taking a new one out of its dust cover, and gently putting it on.
Seeing you focused on cooking, James gets up and strolls over to your setup. He runs his fingers lightly across the spines of the record sleeves, feeling a surprising sense of comfort. He hadnât realized people still used record players so often.
The setup looks quite familiar to him, with many aspects reminiscent of the record players he used back in his earlier days. In his life before this one.
As you finish preparing the pasta and pull the bread from the oven, you call out, âHey, foodâs ready!â
You glance back to see James hovering by the turntable. He quickly moves to the table and sits down.
Over dinner, the conversation flows comfortably. James seems to be relaxing a bit, his initial reserve fading. Heâs still somewhat guarded, but what he does share is genuinely interesting. You sense that opening up is challenging for him, so you respect his pace and take whatever he is willing to give. Laughing with each other a few times and getting through some odd topics, he mentions that he hasnât had a home-cooked meal in quite a while and thanks you with a smile.
After a pleasant dinner, you decide to bring up something youâd been curious about.
âYou like records?â
Caught off guard by the question, James tries to answer without revealing too much about himself. It feels strange to be here, knowing you donât really know who he is, but he worries that being too open might scare you away. He decides to keep his secrets for now, selfishly hoping to get to know you better before revealing more.
âYeah, I used to have quite a few records as a kid. My ma would play them too, especially when she was cooking, just like you. I didnât realize they were still so popular.â
Excited by this glimpse into his past, you push further.
âOh, thereâs definitely a huge market for vinyl. Lots of people who think it makes them superior, but also a lot who just love the physical aspect of it.â
âSo which one are you?â he asks.
You laugh and reply, âMaybe a bit of both.â
You glance up at him from beneath your lashes, catching his rare smile.
âBut really, I just like having it. Thereâs something different about the listening experience. It requires more effort than just hitting play on a playlist. Itâs about choosing a full album and actually sitting down to listen. That feels more intentional to me, and thatâs why I do it.â
James seems to ponder your answer, his expression softer than before. He then turns his gaze back to the turntable.
âSo, since you mentioned you had records as a kid, do you not have any now?â you ask.
He shakes his head.
âHavenât had any for a long time. Talking about it makes me miss them. Everything these days feels so complicated. I like simple things like that.â
Watching him as he looks away, you hesitate but notice the nostalgic shine in his eyes. You sense he might appreciate physical music even more than you do.
âIf you ever get any and donât have a place to play them, youâre welcome to use mine.â
He turns to face you, his expression unreadable.
âI mean, I know itâs not the most convenient offer, but itâs there. One record lover to another,â you add with a smile.
He returns your smile, saying, âOkay⌠thank you. Iâll keep that in mind, Doll.â
That night, Bucky lies on his makeshift bed on the floor, staring up at the ceiling and replaying the events of the day. You knocking on his door for help with the couch, inviting him over for dinner, and all the easygoing conversation you shared. It was such a stark contrast to his usual rigidity. He'd let his guard down just a littleâletting himself smile or flirt ever so slightly.
He wishes he were better at this. It used to come so naturally. Hell, before he left for war, heâd gone dancing with both his own date and Steveâs at the same time. Now, he finds himself listening to you talk while struggling to share anything of his own.
He doesnât want to pass up your invitation, especially since youâre inviting him into your space again. Clearly, his reserve hasnât put you off too much.
âWhat would I even bring?â he wonders aloud.
All heâs ever listened to is 40âs music and big band. He doubts thatâs readily available these days.
Rolling onto his side, he grabs the cell phone Steve had insisted he get before he went back in time to live his real life, without Bucky.
âYou can do anything on here, Buck!â
Scrolling through the three contacts he has, he taps on the name of the guy whoâs been trying to reach him for weeks.
âSo, is there a valid reason why you havenât picked up my damn calls?â Samâs voice comes through.
âSam, hi.â
âDid you finally learn how to click the screen? Is that why Iâm hearing from you now, old man?â
âLook, Iâm sorry. I just donât like the thing. Too confusing,â Bucky says, grimacing as he fiddles with the phone.
âOkay, okay, whatâs going on, man? You doing alright?â
âIâm fine. I just have a question and Iâd appreciate it if you didnât harass me about it.â
âIs it about wizards?â
âWhat?â
âWizards. Is the question about wizards?â
âNo, what the hell. Look, I had dinner with one of my neighbors tonightââ
âWas it a girl?â
âDoes it matter?â
âHell yes, it matters. And from that response, I KNOW it was a girl, soââ
âIt doesnât matter. She has a record player, which I didnât know people still used, and she offered to let me use it, but I donât have anything to play on it.â
âIâm not getting the problem.â
âI only like the stuff from the 40âs andââ
âDid you listen to that Marvin Gaye playlist I sent you?â
âNot interested.â
âCâmon, man, itâs good stuff. Give it a listen.â
âNot feeling it.â
âAlright, your loss, I guess. Still not seeing the problem though.â
âWhat do I bring? I canât just bring around the stuff I know because where would I even get it?â
âWhoa, man, what do you mean, where would you get it? Just go to a record store and hit up the vintage section or something.â
Bucky pauses, mulling over Samâs words.
âThey have that?â
âDuh. You know, you could answer these questions a lot easier if you just looked them up on your phoneââ
âThanks, Sam. Talk to you later.â
Lying back down, Bucky decides that the next time heâs out to see his therapist, heâll first stop by a record store to find something to bring over to your place.
Your easygoing presence was so comforting, and he found himself longing for it as he drifted off to sleep. Heâd see you again soon enough.
Later in the week, as you wind down from a busy day, you focus on making your space as calming as possible.
You light some candles and turn on an orange floor lamp, the soft glow wrapping around you and setting the perfect mood to sink into your sofa with the book youâve been neglecting.
Youâve just started settling into your reading when youâre jolted out of your half-nap by the sound of someone knocking on your door.
You get up and peer through the peephole, and thereâs your dinner guest from earlier in the week.
Opening the door with a smile, you greet him.
âHey James, unexpected visit! Whatâs up?â
His eyes linger on you for a moment before he speaks. You glance down and realize your outfitâshorts that really lived up to their name and a tank topâmight not be the most guest-appropriate.
Brushing off your embarrassment, you look back up at him.
âIâve got something Iâd like to play, if thatâs alright?â
Buckyâs mind races. Standing at your door, he worries maybe you only offered your place to be nice, and now heâs making a fool of himself. Of course, you didnât want him thereâhe could barely talk.
Just as heâs about to get lost in his own head, your bright smile pulls him out of it.
âOh my gosh, please, come in. What do you have?â
His doubt fades away as he sees your genuine excitement.
âBrought some Sinatra. Not sure if youâre into that, but I used to like his stuff when I was younger.â
You spin around abruptly, staring at him in disbelief.
âThereâs no way you think I donât know who Frank Sinatra isâŚâ
Bucky stumbles over his words.
âWell, I mean, itâs not exactly new stuff soââ
âYou think I wouldnât know âFly Me to the Moonâ? âSinginâ in the Rainâ? âNew York, New Yorkâ? I mean, I even moved to New YorkâI had to get the romanticism from somewhere.â
âWhat are those?â
You pause, confused.
âLike, the most iconic Frank Sinatra songs. You are talking about Frank Sinatra, right? Not some other Sinatra Iâve never heard of?â
âNo, youâre right, itâs Frank.â
âThen what do you mean?â
âI guess I donât know those ones.â He admits.
âSo, what era are we talking about?â You ask, reaching for the record.
As you grasp the sleeve, you notice a glint of light catching Jamesâs bare hand. Realizing heâs not wearing gloves, confusion sets in before it clicks. You HAD seen James before.
Looking up at him, he seems frozen, obviously panicking. He planned to tell you eventually, but not like this. Not when you werenât close enough yet.
He thought there is no way you are going to want anything to do with him now.
You thought there is no way was there's an actual Avenger in your apartment right now.
Youâre frozen, just like him, but more in shock rather than fear.
âDo you⌠usually go by James?â you ask cautiously.
Hesitating, he shakes his head.
âWhat do you usually go by then?â
Bucky feels anxiety creeping up his back. Youâre both still holding the record, and he canât tell if youâre scared or just surprised.
âBucky.â
You stay silent for a moment while Buckyâs nerves are on edge.
âSo⌠metal handâŚâ
Clenching his jaw, he replies, âArm.â
âYouâre that Bucky.â
âYes.â
After a long pause, you start again.
âYouâre an Avenger and you didnât tell me?â
Bucky hesitates, his discomfort visible. âIâmâ Iâm not an Avenger.â
âWhat do you mean? Youâre totally an Avenger! Why wouldnât you tell me? How did I not recognize you before?â you ask, laughing in disbelief.
Buckyâs taken aback. You really thought he was an Avenger? Youâre not scared of him at all, which surprises him. You must not know much about his past if youâre still standing this close.
âNo wonder you donât know âNew York, New York,ââ you say, almost to yourself. âItâs from after your time! This is crazy, Iââ
Youâre interrupted by his response.
âAre you not scared?â
âOf course not.â
Bucky closes in on himself, panic evident. âIf you really knew me, youâd want nothing to do with me. Iâveââ
âI might not know the version of you youâre talking about, but Iâve met James, who helped me not once, but twice carry stuff he definitely didnât have to up the stairs, stayed for dinner, has been very polite to me, and has given me zero reasons to be scared of him.â
He looks at you, his piercing blue eyes revealing an internal struggle. That one look holds more weight than his words. You can see the battle within him, torn between his past and the present moment.
âListen,â you say, finally letting go of the record, âif you donât want to stay, you donât have to. But Iâm not scared of you, and I actually like your company. So, regardless of whether youâre James, Bucky, or whoever, youâre still welcome here.â
You pause, adding, âAnd we can still play this if youâd like.â
Bucky struggles with his inner turmoil. The idea that you know who he is but still want him around is foreign to him. He doesnât feel worthy of the kindness youâre offering, but itâs been so long since heâs received such warmth that itâs almost impossible to turn it down.
Heâs not comfortable with his identity or his past, but in this moment, he wants to push it aside. If you donât care, maybe he can allow himself not to care, even if just for a bit. Maybe he can prove something to himself, or even his therapist.
Handing you the record, he relaxes his face slightly. Youâve always thought him handsome, but in the dim light of the dark room, he looks almost ethereal.
Youâre hoping he believes you because your excitement for his company tonight feels more significant than it probably should, but youâre okay with that.
âIâm Bucky.â
You smile warmly at this change. âAlright, Bucky. What do you want to do?â
He gazes at you deeply, his look sending a shiver down your spine and warming your chest. âPlay it.â

Hereâs ya girl who has gone completely feral over astarion. Heâs the babiest baby. Okay, hereâs the prompt. My characterisation could be a bit (or a lot lol) off bc I havenât played the game Y E T so feel free to change the things that seem OOC.
Established relationship, but the beginnings of it, on a mission to find a way for astarion to be in the sun again. Reader has given astarion time to work on his sexual trauma so they havenât been having sex for some time. Reader is 100% ok w that. But they have a big argument over something (not related to sex) and astarion doesnât know how to resolve the situation other than reverting back to his seductive artifice and using sex as a way to ensure his safety (in this case, emotional safety). Reader figures it out because they (or she) are not dumb. They reassure astarion and he lets himself be vulnerable but also, it turns out that astarion wants that sexual intimacy. But reader decides this will be all about astarion and making him feel good and loved. Body worship, astarionâs praise kink, just everything focused on astarionâs pleasure in a way he has never experienced and that makes him completely unravel once he comes. Not a subby reader, tho. You know me, I donât do subby.
If this is too long of a prompt, just the sexy part will be ok. Thank you so much, i have such astarion brainrot DDDD:
I Want to Live

gn!reader x Astarion | Baldur's Gate 3 fanfic | 18+ only
"I don't think we should use the tadpoles for anything, Astarion." You put your hands on your hips, glaring at the sulky Elf in front of you.
This tense conversation between the two of you had gone on far longer than you'd have liked. Astarion seemed insistent on using whatever advantage the Illithids had unintentionally given your party. Despite not yet knowing the implications of doing so.
Astarion's silver hair glinted in the firelight that warmed your back, his eyes shone like droplets of blood. "You might as well leave me alone, spoilsport." He waved an imperious hand in your direction, sneering at you in the way he knew would hurt you most. "Since you insist on being boring and unimaginative."
You ground your teeth. "I'm trying to keep us safe."
"And a fine job you're doing, my sweet." His lilting voice was dripping with sarcasm. "Why don't you ask Arabella how her parents are doing?" He paused, then feigned surprise. "Oh wait..."
Your eyes widened as a jolt of genuine pain lanced through your heart at his callous words. Astarion was aiming to do damage and, like always, he knew how to push your buttons.
Magic sparked at the end of your fingertips as you fought to control your rage. It was the lack of verbal response that alerted Astarion to the fact he might have pushed a little too far with you. His face almost looked regretful for a moment, or perhaps it was a trick of the firelight casting shadows across his features. You didn't gain much insight because of the tears blurring your vision as you quickly turned away and strode as far away from the vampire spawn as you could.
Shadowheart, who always seemed to overhear everything, cast a worried glance your direction before leveling a glare on Astarion who still watched after you with a blank look.
You sat yourself upon your bedroll before the campfire and listened to Volo squeakily tune his lute. Wyll and Gale were over by their tents chatting and Lae'zel sat on a boulder by the river sharpening her sword.
You had thought Astarion would understand and perhaps even agree with you, and the rest of the camp for that matter, that the parasites should not be utilized to gain control of other beings. It was convenient and downright useful, yes...but not worth an unknown cost.
You had thought...since that night when the two of you had become intimate...that he'd maybe come to care for you. But that jab about Arabella's parents, who you'd failed to save, only confirmed that the vampire did not have your best interests at heart.
Sighing, you moved your bedroll away from its usual place beside Astarion's and arranged it next to where Karlach slept. You could feel multiple pairs of eyes watching you move about but you didn't much care at the moment.
Karlach gave you a curious and concerned look as she came over and got comfortable for the night. "Are you alright? I could hear you and Astarion going at it...and not in the fun way."
You grunted and moved your body to the side so you could scrape out a rock that had been digging into your back. "It's fine. He's just an ass." You said these words loud enough for him to hear.
Karlach shrugged and nodded as if this were common knowledge. She gave you a jolting pat on the back before getting comfortable in her own bedroll.
As the breathing patterns of your companions slowly deepened in slumber, you could not find any rest. You tossed and turned as best you could in such primitive sleeping arrangements. You missed your bed back in Baldur's Gate above the taproom of the Shadowcat Claw, the familiar bustle of voices and a mug of ale in your belly lulling you to sleep. Out in this wilderness, with the thought of your argument with Astarion tugging at your thoughts...you had to get up.
As quietly as you could, you slid out of your bedroll and got to your feet. A quick observation of your companions told you they were all in a deep sleep. All except Lae'zel who sat on the boulder still, keeping silent watch. She nodded at you curtly as you passed and didn't ask any questions, for which you were grateful.
You crept through the foliage down to the place in the forest by the river where you and Astarion had had your midnight tryst. You could still feel his moonlight hair running through your fingers, his fangs on your neck as you arched it just for him. The trust...you thought you had at least earned a little bit of his trust.
"I thought I'd find you here." His voice was velvet, it shivered straight through your defenses to your heart.
"I wanted to be alone, Astarion." You tried to keep your own voice cool and collected, but you ached to hold him in your arms again.
Astarion had followed you from the campsite into the woods. He'd been fully aware of your restlessness, of course he had. He entered your line of sight now, looking very much like a cat stalking its prey. His ruby eyes were dark and trained on your face. "Come now, you're far too obvious for all this bluster. Do you not want to feel me again?" He gave you a crooked smile, showing his teeth. "A second taste, perhaps?"
You felt the hollowness of his words and saw the carefully arranged expression he wore like a mask. Beneath the facade you could make out the telltale twitch of a facial muscle, the tenseness of his eyes, indicating anxiety.
You sighed. "I thought we were passed these games."
"Games?" Astarion's tongue flicked out to wet his lips. "Games are all part of the fun, my dear. So good at getting the blood pumping."
You folded your arms. "I want an apology."
This tripped him up. For a moment the facade slipped, and he seemed genuinely taken aback. "Apologize?" Then he was back to his usual bluster. "Me? Apologize for what?"
"For having a go at me today. Bringing up Arabella's parents when you know how upset I am about it." Astarion made a noise as if to speak but you cut across him. "That was cruel, Astarion, and I deserve better from you."
"I didn't..." Astarion sighs heavily, his eyes glancing down to the ground then back at your face. "I apologize." The words seemed to pain him in some way. "I wanted to get a rise out of you, that's all. Now let's forget about that and have some fun."
You raised an unimpressed eyebrow, saying nothing, simply watching his face lit in the silver moonlight. His unconvincing grin slowly slipped off his face, a troubled frown replacing it. The two of you looked at each other for a long moment. Finally, you spoke.
"You're testing how much I care for you, aren't you?" Your voice was soft, almost inaudible over the rippling stream.
Astarion seemed momentarily taken aback, he seemed to consider taking shelter once more behind his mask of pompous indifference. But then his shoulder's slumped slightly, the fists at his sides loosened. That was all the answer you needed.
You stepped forward and placed your hands around his, tugging him closer. He did not resist, his footfalls light as ever as he drew near. Close enough to feel his breath warm your lips.
"I care about you, Astarion." Your voice was still soft amidst the rustling leaves and sparkling water. "I discourage you from using the tadpole's powers because I couldn't bear to see your will overtaken by yet another monster."
Astarion was silent for a long time, his scarlet eyes turned silver as a moonbeam fell across his pallid face. When he spoke, his voice sounded strained. "What if it's too late for me? To be anything other than a monster? My only choice is which one." He laughs forcefully, bitterness twisting his mouth.
"I won't let that happen." You encircled him tenderly in a hug, pulling him to rest flush against your body. "We're in this...together."
"Together." The word was echoed back to you, his voice framing the syllables as if it were a foreign tongue.
You turned your face into him and kissed his neck softly, feeling his body tense in your arms and then slowly relax. You kept your lips against his skin, over where Cazador had sunk his fangs all those centuries ago.
Astarion's hands slowly slid up your hips to rest against your lower back as he held you close. Your lips caressed his neck, throat and trailed up to his jaw until you pressed a soft kiss to the corner of his mouth. "I love you." You murmured.
You felt him tense again, not pushing you away, but his hands tightened on your back. "I..." Astarion hesitated. "I'm not quite ready to say those words back to you, my dear."
"I know." You felt no anger, no hurt. You accepted him however he wished to come to you, grateful for this rare moment of vulnerability beneath the stars.
You pushed him back gently until his back made contact with the base of a large sycamore tree. A huff of air left his lungs, quickly claimed by your mouth as you kissed him hungrily this time. Your hands made quick work of his clothing and Astarion became eager to help the process along.
"Vixen." He murmured and you laughed against his lips, your tongues teasing each other.
"You're beautiful, Astarion." You held his face in your hands and kissed his mouth lightly, not allowing him to turn away even as the compliment made his eyes search yours for hints of disingenuity. "I want nothing from you in return." You said firmly, reading his emotional turmoil through your shared Illithid connection. "This is just for you." You kissed his mouth, his cheek, his forehead. "To keep."
Astarion's head fell back to rest against the tree trunk as you continued lavishing affection upon him. He moaned your name softly to the night sky as you slowly sunk to your knees before him, the dirt and rocks digging unheeded against your knees. His fingers twisted in your hair and guided you to where he wanted you most.
"Good, my love." You praised him, your words causing his body to shake with increasing pleasure. "Show me."
The night was long and full of bliss. A genuine exchange of pleasure, without the previous facades and plays at affection. You felt the change as surely as he did, and when the others awoke in the morning it was to find your bedroll pulled back right next to where Astarion lay curled against you.
~
"You owe me five gold, Shadowheart." Gale mumbled.

the set up â rafe cameron
đđđşđşđŽđżđ: you've been one of the pogues since childhood, and your loyalty has always lied within your friend group, who is practically your family. when a threat by the name of rafe cameron begins to threaten the pogue's plans, they assign you to gain the trust of the dubious kook and keep an eye on what he's up to. however, now it's been six months since your friends set you up to spy on the kook prince himself, but what you didn't anticipate was to fall head over heels for the boy. your relationship had soon become inviolable shortly after your guys' first exchanges, much to your friends' dismay, and you two became practically inseperable. that was, until rafe discovers the truth.
đđŽđżđťđśđťđ´(đ): angst, cussing, mentions of alcohol use, some mentions of violence
đŽđđđľđźđż'đ đťđźđđ˛: she's a bit of a long one so bare with me. there will likely be a part two!
It was 9 o'clock at night and your phone was abnormally barren and noiseless. Nightfall was creeping up on you before you knew it, distracted by the long day of galavanting at the chateau with your best friends'. On a typical day, by the time the sun was setting your boyfriend, Rafe, was eager to call you and maunder about his day. It never mattered what his schedule consisted of, whether it was golfing with topper and kelce, or working with his dad, he made it a part of his routine just to call you and hear your voice before the day was over.
However, this night was different. It was unusual for Rafe to not at least shoot you a text letting you know he wouldn't be calling for a bit, something he usually did when he was busy. Perhaps he was caught up in family matters with his dad and couldn't get to the phone? You thought. But it was still out of character for him not to find a way to contact you, even if it costed him being scorned by his dad.
You sat cross-legged at the foot of your bed, pondering. You began to feel an itching urge to text him and ask if everything was okay, but you hated feeling pushy and your pride was always one to get the best of you in most situations. The idea of texting Sarah soon came to mind and seemed like the best route to take without disturbing your boyfriend in the chance that he genuinely was extremely busy and couldn't get to the phone. You unlocked your phone and went straight to the iMessage app, immediately finding Sarah's contact and beginning to type out a quick message. But, before you hit send, your body began to feel hot and your hands went clammy. Your mind was beginning to get the best of you as it started to race with unnerving thoughts that clouded over your prior hopefulness. Despite how close you were with Sarah, you feared that if you were to ask her what Rafe was up to, she'd become aggravated at your nosiness. But by the growing hour, the urge to find out became overwhelming.
Your fingers shakily typed out a short, to-the-point message followed by them instantly hitting send.
*Y/N: hey, i haven't heard from rafe all day and i'm getting a little worried tbh. is everything okay??*
Your eyes flickered over the delivered message for what felt like a million times as you found it harder to sit still with the nimiety of anxiety coursing through your veins. Your foot tapped vigorously while you bit at your brittle nails. You couldn't seemed to get past the thought of something bad happening to the boy you loved so deeply, and the mere cogitation of the scenario made you feel sick to your stomach.
*SARAH: hey! that's odd. i have no idea, i haven't heard from anyone. maybe stop by my house and see what he's doing? i know wheezie is there, she'll let you in :)*
You breathed out a sigh of relief at her response, thanking the girl mentally for providing you some sort of response, although clarity was not fully provided and the answer as to what was up with Rafe still remained undetermined. But Sarah's message was enough solace to muster up the strength to head over to the Cameron's household, hoping with everything inside of you that your boyfriend was in there. Enough time had passed to where you didn't even care if it was just him ignoring your texts, you just needed to know if he was alright.
After a brief interval of stalling out of pure apprehension, you finally coaxed yourself into driving over to the Cameron's estate. Your legs sped down the stairs hurriedly, making your way passed the coat rack as you snatched the car keys off of it before sprinting out the front door without acknowledging your parents who watched you exit the house with an alarming haste. Their attempts to call out to you and ask where you were going went ignored as you were too focused on one specific thing - Rafe. You wanted to get to him, you needed to get to him.
The fifteen minute drive felt like two hours as you sped to your boyfriend's house, so eager to locate him that you barely realized the speed that you were going down residential areas. But you couldn't care less about anything else than the boy that was prominent in your mind, the one that you spent nearly every single day and night with over the last six months; some of the best in your life so far. Tears begin to prick at your eyes as you gave attention to the thought of losing Rafe, hating how vulnerable and manic you felt in that moment during the drive. Memories of the boy flooded through your thoughts, ones of him holding you as close as he possibly could while you two fell asleep entangled in one another, peppering soft kisses on your face and neck during early mornings just to wake you up because he knew how much you despised getting up before noon, and all the times he would go out of way just to make you happy. Everything about your relationship with Rafe was perfect, regardless of how much your friends' hated the fact that you were together, considering he was at the top of their enemy list.
Once the visual of the enormous white mansion came into view, your heart began to feel as if it was going to pop right out of your chest. Your foot nearly slammed into the floorboard as you raced onto the property's driveway, wasting no time to put the car in park and scurry up the steps that led to the front porch. With three swifts knocks at the door, you were quickly met with the familiar face of the beloved youngest Cameron sibling, Wheezie.
"Y/n! What are you doing here?" Wheezie questioned, a vaunting smile present on her freckled face.
"Hey Wheeze, have you seen Rafe anywhere? I haven't heard from him all day." You confessed timidly while you attempted to keep a calm composure around the adolescent girl, fearing that you'd alarm her if you expressed your true state of distress.
A noticeable frown grew on Wheezie's face in response to your inquiry, which automatically planted a nauseous feeling at the pit of your stomach. Her eyes averted from your gaze and fell to the ground in avoidance to your burning gaze of worry, "Rafe is.. In the kitchen. He got home a few minutes ago, but I feel like I should warn you before you go see him." She admitted diffidently with her stare still pinned at the ground just before your feet.
"What is it, Wheezie?" You catechized due to her visible hesitancy, a state you had only seen the young girl in once when she witnessed Rafe in a yelling match with is dad, one that nearly resulted in him hitting Ward straight in the face.
"He doesn't look very good, Y/n. When he came home he.. He looked like he was on something and he had blood on him. His eyes were all bloodshot, too. I've never seen him this angry before, I think something happened. I don't know what's gotten into him." Wheezie admitted hastily, displaying a sense of urgency that sent goosebumps across your chilled body.
"Okay, okay, it's alright, Wheeze. Just listen to me," you crouched down to meet her height, gripping onto her shoulders with a light squeeze, "go upstairs and close your door. Turn a movie on or play some music, yeah? Just promise me you'll stay in there until I come get you, okay?" You asserted earnestly with your first priority to remove the innocent girl who had fear plastered all over her face. She simply nodded in reply to your request, wasting no time before turning around and heading up the stairs. You waited until you heard the sound of a door closing before stepping foot into the household, your feet feeling like a ton of bricks as you approached the kitchen with caution.
Upon entrance, you were met with the sight of an extremely disheveled Rafe, worse than you had ever seen him before. His eyes were glossy and accompanied with a bloody red appearance over his scleras. Your eyes trailed down to the noticeable blood splatters stained onto his grey polo, an observtion that took the air out of your lungs and your mouth go dry.
"Rafe?" You mousily called out to the fretful boy that was pacing the kitchen while he ran his fingers through his hair in distress. The sound of your soft voice cause his body to come to a halt, freezing in place with his back still turned to you. The sound of a dry, menacing laugh erupted from your boyfriend's throat that broke the defeaning silence in the air. Your eyebrows furrowed, sensing that his hostility may be aimed at you.
"What do you want?" Rafe subtly scoffed in response, still refusing to turn around and look at you.
"I came to make sure you were okay," you spoke up with a timorous voice, "I was worried cause I haven't heard from you." You folded your arms as you stood in place, displaying an evidence lack of confidence in your body language.
"As if you care." He spun around which took you by surprise, getting a better look at the state of disarray he was truly in. The bags under his eyes painted a deep shade of bluish-purple as though he hadn't slept in the last 24 hours. To make matters worse, dried blood was present on his mouth and chin, seemingly from the laceration of an open wound on his bottom lip. You shivered once you noticed how his normally soft features were replaced with a look of anger and resentment.
"What are you talking about? You know how much I care about you, Rafe." You stated, defending your point as he seemed to question your fidelity towards him.
"Cut the bullshit, Y/n! Haven't you lied to me enough? Aren't you tired of keeping up with all these lies?" Rafe squinted his eyes down at you, pointing at you in an accusatory manner that made you flinch. He had never been aggressive with you, far from it. Truth be told, it frightened you to see him like this, especially with the stench of alcohol exuding from him potently.
"Rafe.." you squeaked, feeling small and powerless under his tall stature, "You're scaring me. I don't know what you're talking about. You need to calm-"
"Our whole relationship has been a fucking lie, Y/n! Even down to the moment we met, you and your little piece of shit Pogue friends had this all planned out. I bet you've told them every single thing I've told you, I fucking trusted you! I should've known you Pogues were no good. All you guys do is stick your noses in places they don't belong." Rafe spat at you causing you to stumble back from him some, your back hitting the wall as he cornered you against the wall.
"You can thank your beloved 'friend' JJ for telling me. Boy's got a mouth on him," Rafe snickered as he shook his head in disbelief as he recounted his interaction with the blond Pogue, "ran into him at the golf course and he was running his mouth as usual. Guess I pissed him off so much that he blurted your guys' whole plan out, trying to get a reaction out of me or whatever. Got the shit beat out of him instead." He snarled.
Tears formed in your eyes at the revelation of Rafe finding out about the foolish plan you and your friends came up with months ago. They were always suspicious of the unpredictable Kook, rightfully so, but their mistake was setting you up to gain the rapport of the unknowing boy, who couldn't help but to melt at the sight of you. It was an easy operation, with Rafe falling under your spell within the first three weeks of meeting. But, what they didn't anticipate was you falling for him just as much.
He scoffed again, interrupting your fit of choking sobs, "No, don't cry. Do not stand here with that look on your face like you're the victim in this. You have no idea, y/n, no idea what it did to me when I heard that, and from all people, JJ fucking Maybank."
"Rafe, please-"
"Stop! Stop," Rafe's voice began to break as his words trembled in sorrow, tears escaping his azure eyes, "I loved you, y/n. So much. Never in my life have I opened up to someone, gave someone so much, as I have to you. Every damn day I woke up, only wanting to talk to you. You were always the first thing on my mind, first thing in the morning, last thing at night. You.. You were everything to me, and to think this whole time it's been some fucking sick game to you. Running back to your worthless Pogue friends that are nothing but trouble. How could I be so stupid? Trusting a fucking Pogue like you." His words put wounds in your chest and tore at your heart from the pure hatred for you that exuded from them. You never imagined you'd be at the other end of Rafe's spiteful outbursts at the end of it all, but there you were, looking up at him with a cold look in his eyes.
"I'm sorry, Rafe. I'm sorry, okay? I know that doesn't fix this but I didn't plan for this to happen. I told them it would only be a month and I would be done, but then I fell in love with you. I didn't spend all that time with you because of them. Our agreement was only-"
"Our agreement," he scoffed at your words, "do you hear yourself? You're unbelievable. You think that makes me feel better? Oh, you were only supposed to manipulate me for a month? How generous of you." Rafe mocked back at you, the high levels of alcohol in his system causing him to slur his words some.
"I-I know, I know that nothing I say will make this better. I know that you'll never trust me and you'll hate me forever after this, but I'm so sorry, Rafe. I didn't mean for this to happen." You looked up at him with sincerity, a pleading look in your eyes.
"I don't hate you. That's the fucking problem." He muttered.
"What?" You questioned, confused at his admission.
"I don't hate you, y/n. Believe me, I wish I could right now, but I don't. You think after everything we've been through that I could just hate you like that? That easy? Y/n, you're the love of my life. Don't you get that? I wouldn't be in the state I'm in right now if I didn't love you. I don't know what to do, and I'm at a war with myself because one part of me needs you, and the other can't even stand to look you in the eyes right now." Rafe sighed as he combed a hand through his dirty blond hair. His harsh demeanor was beginning to slip as his features softened and was replaced with an appearance of sadness and void. It was clear that the boy was completely shattered, and it broke your heart. Your mind began racing in that moment, unsure of really what to do in order to comfort the heartbroken boy. Do you leave him be and rip the bandaid off? Was that too cold of you to do? Or were you supposed to hold him and tell him that everything was going to be alright, despite the uncertainty that things would be.
"Rafe.." Your words trailed off as you watched Rafe's bloody lip begin to tremble. He closed his glossy eyes at the sweet sound of your voice, only hurting him more to realize that he'd miss that beautiful noise. He hated how much he craved you, how much he needed you, because he told himself a million times than he could never trust you again after JJ's confession. But he couldn't bring himself to push you away, although you put him in the position he was in. Hurting him worse than anyone has in his entire life.
"I don't wanna think about it right now, okay? I can't.. I can't stand the thought of waking up without you, y/n. I mean call me fucking crazy, but fucking hell, I still love you. I don't know what's wrong with me." Your boyfriend broke down in sobs, tears streaming down his bruised face.
"There's nothing wrong with you, Rafe. You didn't deserve this." You shook your head at his insecurity, assuring him that none of this was on him.
"Please stay with me tonight, we can talk about this in the morning or whatever, but please." Rafe pleaded, looking down at you with a pitiful look on his face that made your heart swell. His hand was placed at your waist, with a fistful of your shirt in his grip, pleading to your with full sincerity.
"Of course I will."

warnings: mentions of domestic abuse, hospitals, swearing, and a man named corey.
January 27th, 2024.
Once, you fervently clung to the notion of happily ever afters, your worldview painted with the romantic brushstrokes of fairy tales. However, that unwavering belief underwent a profound transformation. Life's intricate narrative unraveled before your eyes, revealing the nuanced shades of reality that escape the simplistic tales.
About a year ago, the realisation struck you like a revelation. The fairy-tale endings you once sought seemed elusive, replaced by the complex tapestry of life's unpredictable twists. You navigated through disappointments, heartaches, and the ever-shifting sands of relationships, learning that happiness wasn't a static destination but a dynamic journey.
When you met Corey, you beloved that just everything was going to be perfect, that you were going to get married, start a family and then finally would live a happily ever after.
But now, sitting in a hospital waiting room, a black eye and some bruised ribs, you soon realised that a happily ever after was not on your cards, and you didnât think it ever would be.
Seated in the desolate hush of the hospital waiting room, Corey is by your side, his hand resting on your knee. However, the once-comforting touch has turned into an unintended source of discomfort. His nails, instead of offering solace, are slowly digging into your skin, creating a painful undertone beneath the already strained atmosphere.
The black eye you wear becomes a visible testament to the turbulent storm that has swept through your life, a storm now reflected in Corey's furrowed brow and tightening grip.
Each breath brings a searing pain to your ribs, a constant reminder of the physical toll exacted by whatever led you to this sterile purgatory. Corey's scowl intensifies, mirroring the tension in the room, as if the shared discomfort has found a physical expression.
The minutes drag on, marked by the rhythmic ticking of the waiting room clock, and you find yourself caught between the silent agony of your injuries and the unspoken worry etched on Corey's face.
You've always harbored a deep-seated desire to work in a hospital, a passion that initially fueled your excitement to embark on the journey of medical school. Back when you first met Corey, the prospect of donning a white coat and making a difference in people's lives seemed like a tangible dream. Fresh out of college, you were poised to step into the world of academia, eager to pursue your lifelong aspiration.
However, the trajectory of your dreams shifted when Corey entered the scene. In a whirlwind of emotions, he managed to sway your mind away from the academic pursuit you'd envisioned. With promises of missing you and a shared future that seemed brighter together, you decided to forego university and chose a different path.
Now, in the painful silence of the waiting room, regrets echo through your thoughts, as the realization settles that the sacrifice made for love might have cost you the chance to pursue your professional calling.
You canât help but wish that you had gained enough courage back then to abandon him, because nowâŚnow your too scared to even breath around him, let alone run.
A nurse emerges from one of the doors, a clipboard in hand, and calls your name, "Y/N Y/L/N."
The mention of your name cuts through the sterile air, and both you and Corey rise from the uneasy embrace of the waiting room chairs. Your hands tremble as you follow the nurse, her brisk steps leading you into a room. The corridor seems to stretch indefinitely, anxiety intensifying with every step.
Once inside the room, the nurse gestures towards the bed,
"Please, have a seat." The paper on the bed crinkles beneath you as you comply, Corey standing nearby, his eyes mirroring the concern etched on your face.
As you settle onto the crisp hospital bed, the nurse efficiently checks your vitals, the rhythmic beep of the monitor punctuating the tension in the room. Her practised hands move with precision, measuring your pulse and blood pressure.
After the thorough examination, the nurse glances at the readings and nods.
"Your vitals seem stable," she states, her professional demeanor carrying a hint of compassion. "A doctor will be in to see you shortly. In the meantime, if you need anything or if the pain intensifies, don't hesitate to press the call button."
The weight of the impending doctor's visit hangs in the air, and you exchange a glance with Corey, your unspoken worries echoing in the silence of the room.
As the nurse departs, Corey's demeanor shifts abruptly. He harshly grabs your face, turning it towards him, his grip uncomfortably tight. His words cut through the air, "Remember what we said you'd tell them, right?"
A cold shiver runs down your spine as you nod in agreement, the tremor in your voice betraying the underlying fear.
Corey's gaze remains intense as he adds, "If you say the wrong thing, you will regret it."
The ominous warning lingers in the room, leaving you with a sense of dread.
Before you can respond, the curtain is abruptly pulled back, revealing a doctor with brown curly hair and piercing green eyes. Tattoos peeking out from the top of his scrubs and doctor coat hint at a more casual side.
His entrance interrupts the charged moment between you and Corey, injecting a fresh wave of tension into the air. The doctor offers a professional smile, though his gaze holds a discerning curiosity.
"Good afternoon. MâDr. Styles," he introduces himself, glancing between you and Corey. "Let's talk about what brought you in today."
The weight of Corey's warning still echoes in your mind as you navigate the delicate balance between truth and the narrative you've been instructed to follow.
With a hesitant gulp, you summon the courage to speak.
"Uh, I had a bit of an accident," you begin, your voice quivering. "I... I fell down the stairs."
The admission hangs in the air, and you avoid Dr. Styles' eyes, your gaze fixed on the sterile surroundings.
Dr. Styles, his expression unreadable, continues to observe you closely.
"Fell down the stairs?" he repeats, a note of scepticism in his tone.
You nod, trying to appear convincing while the weight of fear presses down on you. The room feels stifling as you navigate the delicate dance of half-truths, your primary concern not to incur Corey's wrath.
"It was just a clumsy misstep," you add, your words laced with anxiety.
Dr. Styles, a man of clinical composure, glanced at Corey's bruised knuckles without a word, documenting the silent evidence on his clipboard.
He then turned his attention back to you, a hint of professional detachment in his green eyes.
"Well, let's get started. Where is the pain located?" Dr. Styles asked, his voice measured.
Your response quivered with nerves, "It's inâŚmy ribs, doctorâŚBeen hurting quite⌠a bit."
The doctor nodded, scribbling down your words. His gaze flickered over Corey's hands, perhaps noting the story they told without needing verbal confirmation. The air hung heavy with unspoken tension.
"Now, I need to check yâheart rate. Sâthat okay?" Dr. Styles inquired, his eyes fixing on yours.
A nod escaped your body.
Looking directly at you, Dr. Styles sought more than a nod. "I need verbal confirmation, not just gestures. Can yâconfirm verbally that I can proceed?"
A tense smile played on your lips as you stammered, "Yes, goâŚgo ahead."
There was no denying that Dr.Styles wasnât a good looking man, his green eyes looked captivating, and for some reason, you felt safe in his presence.
The same couldnât be said for Corey.
As the stethoscope pressed against your chest, a rush of anxiety surged through you. Your eyes met Corey's, silently expressing the fear of unravelling under the doctor's scrutiny.
Guided through deep breaths, your heart raced under Dr. Styles' scrutiny. The doctor noticed the anxiety etched on your face but remained professionally silent. His expertise unfolded like a story, revealing only what needed to be seen.
"Alright, here we go. Deep breath in, and out," Dr. Styles directed, his actions dictating the pace of this clandestine tale.
"Heart rate seems stable. Anything else you'd like to share about how this happened?" Dr. Styles inquired, maintaining an air of curiosity without prying too deeply.
You shook your head, your story consistent, "No, just aâŚclumsy fall down⌠the stairs."
"Mâneed to run a few more tests," he explained. "Would yâmind if your friend steps outside and waits in the waiting room? It won't take long."
Corey, however, reacted strongly to the suggestion. "What? No way! I'm staying right here. I'm her boyfriend, and I have every right to be in the room!"
Dr. Styles, calmly, responded, "I understand yâconcern, but there are aspects of the examination that are private. Sâcommon for patients to have some privacy during certain parts of the examination unless they suggest otherwise."
Corey, not willing to back down, kicked off, insulting Dr. Styles. "I'm not leaving. This is ridiculous. I have a right to be here."
Dr. Styles, unyielding, reiterated, "It's standard procedure fâcertain parts of the examination to be conducted in private, unless the patient suggests otherwise."
You shared a hesitant look with Corey, feeling the tension escalate. Finally, with a deep breath, you mustered the courage to speak up, "Corey, maybe it'sâŚ.better if you waitâŚoutside for this part. It won't take longâŚand I'll be fine."
Corey's expression hardened, but he reluctantly left the room, shooting a final glare at Dr. Styles.
With Corey outside the room, Dr. Styles spoke gently, "I need tâexamine your abdomen to check fâany signs of internal bleeding. For a thorough examination, I'll need you to remove your shirt."
You hesitated, anxiety clouding your eyes.
"I... I don't want to take my shirt off," you admitted, your voice trembling.
Dr. Styles, his tone reassuring, explained, "I understand, but it's crucial to assess any potential internal injuries. I'll do my best to make you as comfortable as possible, and we can proceed at your pace."
Taking a deep breath, you nodded hesitantly, beginning to remove your shirt, leaving you in just a sports bra. Dr. Styles' eyes widened as he saw the bruises that marred your torso, a silent testimony to the pain you had endured.
Concern etched on his face, Dr. Styles gently inquired, "Are you okay with me touching you for the examination?"
âYes Doctor.â With a hesitant nod, you allowed him to proceed.
âPlease,â he caught your gaze and tilted his head to the side. âCall me Harry.â
Dr. Styles' cool hands glided across your body as he carefully examined your abdomen. The room felt silent, the only sound being the measured breaths you took to steady yourself.
Dr. Styles, noticing your discomfort, apologized, "Mâsorry if this causes any pain. Please let me know if anything feels too much."
As his hands explored, you flinched when he pressed too hard on a sensitive spot.
You winced.
Dr. Styles immediately pulled back, concern evident in his eyes. "Mâsorry for any pain. We'll take it slow, and I'll be as gentle as possible."
You nodded, appreciating his care, and he continued the examination with increased caution. The vulnerability of the moment hung in the air, yet there was a sense of trust developing between you and Dr. Styles,
Before proceeding with the examination, Dr. Styles decided to ask a few questions. "Let's start with something basic. How old are you?"
You replied, "I'm 25."
Nodding, Dr. Styles moved on to the next question. "How often do you exercise?"
You thought for a moment before responding, "I walk to work every day, so I'd say I get some exercise regularly."
Dr. Styles continued his inquiries, "Are you currently taking any medication?"
"No, I'm not on any medication right now," you assured him.
The next question touched on a different aspect, "Are you pregnant or currently trying to conceive?"
With a quick response, you answered, "No, not pregnant and not trying."
Dr. Styles, satisfied with the information gathered, prepared to proceed with the examination. "Thank you for providing those details.
Dr. Styles, with a cautious tone, expressed, "I have one more question, and I don't want you to take this the wrong way.â
You look up at him through thick eye lashes.
âDoes Corey abuse you?"
The question hung in the air, and you felt a shock ripple through you. Corey had made it abundantly clear that uttering a word about what you went through was strictly forbidden.
In that moment, you hesitated, your mind racing, but you couldn't bring yourself to voice the truth.
With a heavy heart, you shook your head and replied, "No, Corey would never do anything like that."
Dr. Styles, perceptive to the delicate nature of the situation, continued with a compassionate demeanor, "I understand that this might be a sensitive topic. It's crucial for me to ask because your well-being is my priority. If, at any point, you feel the need to talk or share, my role is to support you."
Feeling the weight of the unspoken truth, you nodded, your eyes reflecting the internal struggle. Dr. Styles respected the boundaries, recognizing the complexity of the situation.
He added, "I want you to know that your safety and comfort are paramount. If you ever need assistance or someone to talk to, there are resources available, and my team is here to help. It's essential that you feel supported in your journey to recovery."
The conversation concluded with an understanding silence, leaving an open door for you to seek help when you were ready
Dr. Styles cleared his throat, breaking the lingering eye contact between the two of you. He stood up, a professional shift in his demeanor.
"Mâgoing to get you scheduled for an x-ray based on the nature of your injuries," he explained, offering a reassuring smile.
As he left the room, you couldn't help but notice a soft smile on his face when he looked back at you. The curtain was pulled gently behind him, leaving you alone with your thoughts and the echoes of the examination.
A realization began to dawn on him â the inherent injustice of your circumstances and the courage you displayed in the face of adversity. Amidst these reflections, another thought surfaced: just how remarkably pretty you were.
As he considered the emotional and physical toll you endured, Dr. Styles found himself admiring not only your strength but also your undeniable beauty. The compassion he felt transcended the professional realm, stirring a personal acknowledgment of the unfairness life had dealt you.
In a quiet moment at the doctor's station, he couldn't help but entertain a fleeting fantasy â what if circumstances were different? Dr. Styles wondered, with a twinge of regret, how different things might be if you weren't with someone like Corey.
In his opinion, you were gorgeous.
Your eyes would forever be stuck in his mind, even if he was to never see you again, the way your hair framed your face, and your dimples appeared when you were talking to him.
If he was to ever see you again, he would get to know you more, and he couldnât help but wonder what you would look like with your body not covered in bruises, and wondered what your body would look like bent over hisâ
âStop it, Harry.â
His inner conscience told himself, you were his patient, and he was your doctor.
He had to be professional.
The unspoken connection between you lingered in his mind, and he found himself contemplating a different narrative, one where he might have asked you out, free from the shadows that seemed to engulf your current relationship.
As you sat on the hospital bed and picked at your fingernails, trying to remove the dried blood from under neath, when the curtain getting pulled open made you stop your actions and for your breath to hitch on your throat.
Corey stormed back into the room, anger radiating from him like a palpable force, his eyes fixed on you with a cold, threatening glare. The tension in the room intensified as he made a menacing declaration,
"You're in for it when we get home."
Your heart sank at the ominous words, and fear flickered in your eyes as you braced for what awaited you.
Oh, how you wished you had told Dr. Styles the truth, but just like always, you were starting to regret it.

Fabric and Feelings
I've been thinking about Sanemi and how he ended up confronting Madea. This is my idea on how it might have come about
Content warning: brief mentions of harassment
Divider by @/cafekitsune
Sanemi couldnât say he particularly liked being paired up with the new recruits, but sometimes there just wasnât another choice. He grudgingly accepted that they were useful for gathering information, especially if they were still bright eyed and eager, friendly and approachable in a way Sanemi himself hadnât been since childhood. So, despite the fact the quality of their members was dropping with every passing year, they still had some small uses.
The demon he was tracking at the moment was proving elusive, a fact that had already put him in a foul mood even before he had to call in support from one of the new Mizunoto, barely a month out of Final Selection. He figured you would be just another poor excuse for a Slayer, still shaking in your boots at the thought of a demon.
He met you just outside the village, and the first thing he noticed was your uniform. It was hard to miss; with a skirt that barely covered the tops of your thighs and a shirt that hardly deserved to be regarded as such. A slit down the middle revealed the swell of your breasts, and he imagined it was only the single small button at the top of your white undershirt which kept everything even slightly covered. It wouldnât do a thing to defend you against sharp claws and bared teeth, which was the whole point of the fabric it was made from. It was supposed to give new Slayers like you a vague chance of surviving past the first week without being maimed by the low level demons you were sent after.
Was this really what Demon Slayers were being given these days? Well, he couldnât really judge, taking a look down at his own uniform, jacket and shirt unbuttoned to reveal muscle built and scars gained from years of fighting for survival.
His eyes landed on yours as you stopped in front of him, and you were quick to look away with a slight flush in your cheeks and a hand fiddling with the hem of your skirt. Great - one of those. The Slayers with stars in their eyes and fantasies of having lives and families and the ones who treated the Hashira like they hung the moon and stars. Stupid idiots never realised that the Hashira were just as painfully human as the rest of them - what separated them was the will to destroy; the bone deep desire to see every demon eradicated, no matter the personal cost. Sanemi had learned over the years that their own death wasnât the worst thing a human could experience.
âShinazugawa-san. My crow told me to meet you here. Whatâs our mission?â Your cheeks were still red, but your voice was steady as you addressed him, eyes already scoping out the area around you both. Maybe this wouldnât be a complete waste of time after all.
âCome on.â He didnât wait to see if you were following, taking off in the opposite direction. It wasnât his responsibility to babysit you.
***********
Your mission was proving successful, and Sanemi almost felt bad about his initial assessment of you. As expected, people looked at him with guarded concern, but as soon as you opened your mouth, they were at ease, chattering as if you had lived in this village all your life. It reminded him of Masachika, and Kanae, and he pointedly ignored the way his heart clenched at the thought. That attitude could never last, not in the Corps. Masachikaâs blood, a permanent invisible brand on his skin, and the memory of the dead look in the younger Kochoâs eyes at Kanaeâs funeral were stark reminders of that.
You just had a way with people, and he had to admire that. He knew he was hard on the new recruits (and for good reason) but he wasn't too proud to acknowledge when someone proved themselves useful to the Corps.
That natural charisma was starting to work on him too, though he would rather eat glass than admit it. A few days after your reconnaissance began, he found himself watching as you regaled a couple of old ladies with an animated tale, your hands moving as you told your story. They were enchanted, as everyone else had been thus far, and as they walked away, Sanemi heard them comment on how you were âsuch a nice young girlâ.
You seemed more relaxed than you had been when he first met up with you, and by the time you split off from him to chase leads on opposite ends of the village, his opinion of you had improved drastically. He still hadnât seen you fight, which was the make or break factor of any Demon Slayer, but he was impressed with your perception, and the way you kept up with him - seamlessly following his lead even when he didnât bother to tell you what he was planning.
He also liked the way you called him out afterwards. It was almost amusing to watch you grumble and bitch about his impulsive actions before you suddenly realised you were badmouthing a Hashira and your jaw snapped shut, a pretty red flush covering the apple of your cheeks. Usually, he would have the guts of any lower rank Slayer who mouthed off to him for garters but something held him back in this case. It had been a long time since someone actually gave him a hard time - usually too busy being terrified of his reputation or his attitude to even consider it.Â
His solo questioning went well, and he finally felt like he was cornering the demon prowling this area. Hopefully, your exploration had been just as fruitful. As he walked towards the centre of the village to meet back up with you, he barely paid any mind to the sound of raised voices - not an uncommon occurrence, and never usually worth getting involved in.
That was until he got closer and realised he recognised one of those voices. His lips pulled into a frown as he rounded the corner and found you facing off with a civilian, eyes flashing with anger as you argued with the man. Great. The Corps struggled enough with its reputation as it was - the last thing they needed was random recruits having it out with civilians in the street. He didnât bother to focus on what you were so pissy about as he stalked over, more concerned with ending this little spat and drawing attention away from you both, âOi, Y/L/N! What the hell are you doing?!â
You whirled around to face him, mouth opening but he just held up a hand to cut you off, âIâm sorry about her, sir. She needs to keep her temper in check. Iâll handle it.â More than a little hypocritical, coming from him, but soothing the guyâs ego was probably the quickest way to end this little drama. Sanemi was familiar with men like this; they didnât like women to stand up to them, or to fight back, and the last thing he needed was this guy feeling belittled and raising a hand to you.
Thankfully, the man accepted his apology and walked away, casting one nasty glare back at you before he did so. Sanemi took a breath to centre himself before wrapping a hand around your upper arm and dragging you away from the scene, careful not to grip too tightly; he would never want to hurt a woman, no matter how pissed off he might be.
He shoved you onto a deserted side street, turning you to face him, âWhat are you doing, picking fights with the locals? I leave you alone for a couple of hours and you start causing trouble.â
You scanned his face, studying his expression and he couldnât say he liked the guarded look that grew in your eyes as you did so. Jerking your arm out of his hold, you stiffly briefed him on what you had learned in your time apart, succinct and to the point. He wanted to assume you were angry with him, but something about the way you held yourself just didnât fit that. Your shoulders were hunched in, as if you were trying to hide away, to make yourself smaller, and you wouldnât meet his eye even as the pair of you planned to meet up just after sunset, near the border of the village. Your intel matched, and Sanemi was certain this was the night the demon would fall to his blade.
As soon as the plan was set, you turned on your heel and stormed away. Sanemi just shook his head - whatever was going on, hopefully you would get over it before tonight. You both had a job to do.
*************************
The wait for the demons to appear was awkward, to say the least. You hadnât said a word to him since you met up at sunset, and you were pointedly avoiding looking at him, feigning interest in a nearby tree. Part of him wanted to say something - now he had cooled off, he felt a little bad about not hearing you out. He made an assumption based on past experience with hot-headed Slayers, but that didnât quite fit with what he had seen of you so far, nor with how you had closed yourself off after he confronted you.
Before he could broach the subject, rustling from beyond the bushes caught both of your attentions, and for the first time that night, you met his eyes, silently agreeing a plan. Sanemi unsheathed his sword and watched as you did the same before gesturing towards the clearing ahead of you - time to end this.
*********************
His sword slashed through the demonâs neck, and a thud signalled the end of his fight. Immediately, Sanemi scanned the area, finding you standing across the clearing, a demon of your own at your feet, its head rolling towards the treeline. He straightened up and flicked the blood of his sword, hissing as the movement pulled the new gash in his arm. Self-inflicted, of course, but still hurting like a bitch.
He was impressed - you held your own. Before this, he was convinced he would have to step in and save your ass like he usually did with new Mizunoto. However, you took on the weaker of the two demons like you had been a Slayer for years. However, you hadnât escaped unscathed, which wasnât surprising given the amount of exposed skin on display. After all, the uniform was supposed to protect against low level demons like this. A particularly nasty set of claw marks was dripping blood down your leg, and he could see the pain lining your face no matter how hard you were trying to hide it as you limped over to him.
He called out to his crow, âGet a couple of Kakushi here. She needs to get to the Butterfly Mansion.â
âNo. Iâll get there myself.â Your face was pale with blood loss, and you already looked a little unsteady on your feet even as you argued. The throbbing of the wound on his arm made him a little quicker to anger, and he couldnât help the rush of frustration flowing through him as he was reminded of just how little protection you had from the uniform you wore. Yes, his uniform was exposing, but he wasnât fresh out of Final Selection and prone to catching a demonâs claws during fights.
There was no way you could get to the Mansion in your condition, and he told you as much, watching as your face scrunched up in frustration, âThat thing youâre calling a uniform didnât do shit to protect you. Shut up and wait for the Kakushi.â
He saw the flicker of hurt in your eyes, but before he could apologise, it morphed into anger as you squared up to him, âI know it doesnât protect me, okay?! I know itâs revealing - I see the way people look at me. Men treat me like a doll to stare at and play with. I spoke to Madea when I got my uniform, and I begged for a new one, but I was told it wasnât allowed. So I make do with what Iâve got. Your judgement isnât needed or appreciated. I thought you were different, but I guess I was wrong.â
Rage burned in your eyes, but he could see tears welling up on your lash line, face flushing a blotchy red with emotion. Your voice stayed steady despite all that, just as it had the first time you met. Was this how you felt then, too, when his gaze found your clothing before anything else?
âGoodbye, Shinazugawa-san. I trust you can report to the Master alone.â Somehow, you managed to make the honorific tacked onto the end of his name sound anything but respectful as you stalked off, gait remarkably even despite your injuries. You didnât even give him time to respond to your outburst, which he honestly couldnât blame you for. Guilt began to curl in his gut, and anger wasnât far behind. You had mentioned one Kakushi in particular - Madea - who was responsible for the design of your uniform. Once Sanemi had reported his - your - success, he would pay the man a visit. The piece of shit was abusing his position to objectify the Slayers his uniforms were supposed to be protecting, and Sanemi wasn't about to let that go unpunished.
*************************
A few days after your mission, you were still feeling more than a little bitter about the Wind Hashira. You really thought you were getting on well - after that initial eyeing of your uniform when you first met, he had been nothing but respectful. His eyes never wandered below your face and he never once commented on the too short skirt or the uncomfortably revealing shirt. For that, you were grateful - you were all too aware of just how scandalous the uniform was, and you couldnât shake the discomfort you felt every time you had to put it on. It made you feel vulnerable and exposed - a horrible combination when your job was to fight man eating demons.
You thought the Wind Hashira was different, and even had plans to ask him to spar once your mission was over; maybe even become his friend, over time. His reputation preceded him, and you had spent the whole journey to the mission site fretting over how best to make a good impression, and not earn his ire before you had even begun. Over the course of your mission together, though, your opinion had changed. More than once, you had caught him watching you, eyes studying you with curious concentration, and you felt your cheeks heat up at the memory. The last month had made you hesitant to find yourself under the gaze of others, but something about the way he looked at you made butterflies flutter in your tummy.Â
Then he walked in on a man harassing you in the street and still decided you were the one causing trouble. At first, you thought it an act - playing along to get the man away from you. As he chewed you out in that alley, you came to the realisation that there was no act at all.
His comment after your fight with the demons just solidified your opinion. He was just like the others; judgemental, making assumptions about you just because of the clothes you were forced to wear. You had managed to hold your tongue after the incident with the civilian - you knew it would do you no good to get into a fight with a Hashira. However, the pain in your thigh and the humiliation burning through you made something snap, and you lashed out, hurt that he would judge you so easily, without even a chance to explain why you continued to wear such a degrading uniform.
Despite your lack of regrets around telling him off and storming away, you were still a little worried about potential repercussions - he was a Hashira, and you were just a Mizunoto. That worry is what made you jump at the sound of a knock on the door of the private room you were staying in at the Butterfly Mansion.
âCome in!â You were hoping it was one of Shinobu's little girls - they were so sweet, and always willing to keep you company as you recovered. The smile you wore for them quickly fell into a frown as instead, Shinazugawa stepped into the room, âWhat do you want?â Your cold attitude probably wasn't the best way to avoid punishment for disrespecting a Hashira, but you couldn't help it. You still felt a flood of humiliation every time you thought back on that night.
He didn't speak, walking forward silently to deposit the stack of cloth he was holding on the end of your bed and folding his thick arms over his chest. You looked up at him curiously, but he refused to meet your eye, choosing instead to feign interest in the bed frame.
You reached out for the bundle, lifting up the item on top. As you unfolded it, your eyes widened; it was a uniform jacket, and as you held it up by the shoulders, you noted silver buttons neatly fastened all the way down. It ⌠would cover everything. No more scandalous slit revealing the swell of your breasts, and no more wandering eyes lingering on exposed skin. Your hands were shaking a little as you looked through the rest of Shinazugawa's gift - skirts, still the same style but now long enough to protect your modesty, and shirts, designed to fasten properly and leave nothing on display.
Tears pricked at your eyes as you picked up the final item - socks. You had assumed he wasn't listening to you, when you complained to him one night in the Wisteria House, about how the boots you preferred to wear would rub at your leg. Looking at these now, you just knew they would rise to just above where your boots sat.
You blinked up at him, trying to clear away the building tears, âWhy?â
He looked up then, locking eyes with you and you could tell he didn't know what to do with the tears pooling in your eyes. He cleared his throat, a brush of red colouring his cheeks as he rubbed at the back of his neck.
âI ⌠was an ass.â A surprisingly honest confession, and one you werenât expecting. You stayed quiet, giving him space to speak his mind. This was a side of the Wind Hashira you hadnât had the pleasure of seeing during your mission, and you found that you liked it, âYou didnât deserve me giving you shit, especially for something you were forced into. Youâre ⌠alright. For a newbie.â He folded his arms back across his chest, muscles flexing with the movement, âI went and spoke to Madea. He should think twice before he tries this with anyone else.â
The growing smirk on his face made you think it was a hell of a lot more than a polite conversation, and you were grateful, but the double standard kind of pissed you off, âSo youâre allowed to confront him, but when I call someone out for groping me in the street, Iâm âcausing troubleâ?â
âThat guy did fuckinâ what?â To his credit, Sanemi seemed genuinely outraged on your behalf, âWhy did you not âŚâ His rant stopped abruptly, and the anger faded as quickly as it came on, replaced with shame instead, âShit. I never gave you a chance to say anything, did I?â
You could have held it over him; stayed angry, or thrown hurtful words his way. You didnât really want to though. Remorse was obvious in the way he was staring at you, and he had more than proven that he was a good man. Even your Cultivator hadnât confronted Madea about your uniform, and Shinazugawa had done it without hesitation. Holding grudges was never your strong suit anyway, and you always were a sucker for a pretty face. You felt a smile tugging at your lips, âNo, you didnât, Shinazugawa-san. I could consider forgiving you ⌠if you promise me a sparring match once Iâve healed up.â
The wicked grin you got in response lit up his face, and you just knew this would be the beginning of something great.
