Honestly i’ve only thought about Pre-Canon and Post-Canon so far, its been a bit of a struggle to fit it all into the canon timeline and have it make sense 😭

most of the relationship aspect happens in the Pre-Canon, so I believe it wouldn’t stray *that* far from Canon (?). Only slightly changed by focusing more on OilRose and J’s betrayal towards the end of MD

but yes J still does “die” in EP1 , V is incredibly upset at uzi for that and is more hostile to her in this au :-) (shes a lot more ruthless too)

J is still essentially the same company loving, selfish drone, still hung onto what she has left of tessa. even if that means siding with cyn

..P.S. V has a whole development Post-Canon where N and Uzi teach her that she can be in a healthy relationship. They love her! Although it takes her quite a bit to accept it.

this au is also based on trauma bonding between victims, which is why V & J were as close as they were in the first place! (since N was the only drone who had his memories wiped)

Found your Purple Drones AU and I am instantly obsessed omg.

Focusing on V right now, feel like she has the most immediate angst. Imagine, you’ve finally been freed from the person who’s kept you enslaved most of your life, and then one of the few people who you thought you could trust turns around and does the same thing. Sure, she says that it’s not on purpose and she’d release you if she could, but can you really trust that? A part of you wants to believe her, but how do you know that isn’t just her manipulating you? You aren’t even sure if it’s really her in there, or if it’s Cyn wearing her body and pretending to be her, like she did with Tessa. You’ve had all of your agency taken away and put in the hands of someone you fundamentally can’t trust.

And the lights! With Cyn, at least you could pretend to be in control of yourself, sometimes, but now there’s a constant reminder. Any time you see your reflection, it’s there, literally glowing in your face. When someone sees you, the first thing they notice is the color of your lights, the mark of your lost autonomy.

It’s such a simple idea for an AU, but there’s so much to go into with it. I love it so much.

MURDER DRONES - ODDSWAP AU

I present to you all today a murder drones AU based entirely on the premise of “how insane could I get with a swap AU of murder drones?” (Hence the name “OddSwap”)

CYN AND UZI:

Cyn is incredibly pessimistic and anti-social, only speaking to her older brother Neo. She adapted this personality in an attempt to ward off those who bothered her, but instead it just encouraged more bullying from peers. Cyn has a much more sensitive and polite side, but is usually masked under wittiness and coldness.

Uzi retained her canon personality up until being thrown out and becoming a zombie drone/solver creation. She maintains her rebellious nature but in a more subtle and dull manner. Before her incident she actually got along well with the others, but afterwards they all became distant and wary.

VANESSA AND SERIAL DESIGNATION T:

Vanessa has a similar personality to past V in canon, but is a bit more spiteful and more eccentric about drones. Every time she “geeks out” is shut down by her parents, hence where the spitefulness came in. Sometimes she’d have drones purposely mess up to get back at her parents. Despite that, Vanessa treats the drones well and tries not to favor one over the other. She too is wary of Uzi, but still tries to be nice to her.

T has the personality of canon Tessa, both before becoming a disassembly drone and after. Once becoming a disassembly drone she acted a little more hyper and quirky. While it comes off as annoying to the other two disassembly drones, she still is a valued teammate. She tends to act nervous around those superior to her.

NEO AND SERIAL DESIGNATION D:

Neo is Cyn’s older brother. Their parents died while they were young, and that event lead Neo to becoming vengeful and cold. It also lead to him thinking T killed their parents. Neo is overprotective of his sister and the only one she’s comfortable around. He has the capability to care and love, but that’s a privilege only a certain few will get.

D is quiet, keeping to herself mostly. But of the three, she’s the most strategic. Her quietness is due to being in constant thought of what’s next, which made her a bit out of touch with the other two disassembly drones. D is still Russian, and only understands Russian.

JANE AND SERIAL DESIGNATION A

Jane is presumably the only survivor of Cabin Fever Labs. She used to be much more prestige and classy, until Gory tweaked out and Y’know the rest. She entirely blames Gory for the incident, thinks he’s a coward and a traitor, and takes her anger out on travelers. She is cannibalistic and has some control over the sentinels.

A is the most sadistic of the three, but also not the most competent. Her only redeeming quality is persuasion, and her sadist nature holds her back greatly. The other two could be killing several workers at once while she’s busy focusing on one drone to torture. She claims herself leader of the three, and often blames the other two for her mistakes.

My reaction to episode 8!

Shh, spoilers below!!

I loved every second of everything that was there.

Nori and Uzi's conversation at the beginning was so sweet, albeit short. Bseeing that little happy face Uzi made at seeing her mom again... Man, she's been through so much and probably already thought she might have lost everyone else. So seeing the one drone she always believed was dead alive and ready to help Uzi kick some butts... Just look at her happy face.

Uzi's little laugh when Nori gave her "parental" advice is so sweet too. In all the years of her life, she never got that from her mom until now. And she finally got her mom back. It's so sweet.

Along with the shy smile and wave Uzi did, as if she's saying "Do I look good with the necklace?" And Nori responds with the cute emoticon on the stone.

Of course, that gets cut off my N RAMMING Uzi with the spaceship and oh my god, them.

LOOK AT HOW PROUD AND HAPPY HE LOOKS!! Plus, we got to see his little fangs!

And when he admits that he was mad about Uzi trying to sacrifice herself... Like, you can clearly see it in his expression and voice, he was really hurt by what she did, but also, he's happy that she's alive.

And honestly, I can't be the only one that when she first grabbed his face, I thought she was going for a kiss lol.

BUT OF COURSE CYN HAS TO RUIN THE MOMENT

I really wanna know what they said, Uzi probably cursed a lot lol

AND OF COURSE, THAT SCENE.

My god, hearing the music, the beautiful visuals... Like, the fact that "Falling for you??" is playing here and the way they hold each other and look at each other with so much love and adoration... The scene gives me so much goosebumps.

I loved how Uzi admits that she can't read the room because that's another point for autistic Uzi!

Their soft expressions, and Uzi's tiny "yay" oh my god they stole my heart.

I honestly kinda wanna know how N managed to steal the spaceship and go past J.

AND V'S BACK, LET'S GO!!

I was almost screaming like crazy in the hotel room, I've been hoping SO SO MUCH THAT SHE WOULD COME BACL!! :D

AND SHE'S RIDING ON THE SENTINEL, LIKE HOW COOL IS THAT?!

The way she says "Working with CYN?!" WAS SO SATISFYING AND GOOOOOOD she's so angry, go beat up ur ex babe /silly

The backstory we're getting between them too. So I guess both were aware on everything, but only V was the one that wanted to change but was too scared to.

The amount of backstory we're getting on J too here kinda breaks my heart and kinda makes me angry at her. The way she said "it tricked me too..." probably because she geniunly through Tessa would be alright and fine, just for her to be... not.

J is obviously heartbroken. But she feels like she has no other choice but to team up with the Solver, especially know that it is wearing Tessa's skin, that's the closest J can ever have something of her.

"You know there's no escape, even in death!"

That line makes me think as if J wanted to die at some point, but couldn't. There's so escape for her from the reality that Tessa is dead, because the Solver will always bring her back.

Help, she's so smooth and cute and akhjdskjhsfdakjsda

When I saw that, I was in panic.

All of his eyes are focused on Tessa.

Cause of his trauma

Man, this entire scene with V apologizing for everything and even crying... She's been through so much pain and keeping so much secrets to protect N, but the burden of everything kept on weighing on her.

And her face as she realized that he revealed himself because he wanted her to stop...

And just as Flesha was about to eat N's core, Khan saves the day with DOORS! >:D Gosh I wanna kiss him on his stupid face

Is CYN Autistic and is She Good Representation?

Murder Drones ⟨00⟩ is an indie show about robots; created by Glitch Productions ⟨01⟩; directed by Liam Vickers ⟨02⟩: all episodes are free to watch on YouTube and I do recommend watching. The show follows a robot girl named Uzi and her best friend N; CYN (the subject of this post) is N’s adoptive younger sister. Many people in the Murder Drones fandom (including myself) have identified her as being autistic but is this the case and is she a good representation? 

In this post I will try to go over all the evidence we have which suggests she is/isn’t autistic and discuss what it means to be a good representation. I have split this post into three parts,

What is Good Representation and does CYN qualify?

I must forewarn, I am not a medical doctor nor am I qualified in any adjacent fields relating to disabilities, I am just an autistic person who enjoys film theory.

The first point I want to make is to address the possible concerns over CYN being a Worker Drone (the name given to one type of robot in Murder Drones) as, in media, autistic people are often negatively represented through machines. This is not the case here, in the show most characters are robots and behave neurotypically; the behaviours and mannerisms of CYN will expressly be discussed in comparison to the rest of the cast. This will also be discussed more in greater detail later in the post.

Part 1 - Evidence : Minor Spoiler Warning

Posture

The manner in which CYN stands gives us multiple strong indications that she is neurotypical. Contrary to common belief, autism both affects a person mentally and physically with a strong overlap between the two⟨04⟩.

Going from top to bottom, the notable traits are;

CYN is very short, being estimated to be ~100cm or ~3'4''. For comparison, most Worker Drones are around 132cm or 4'4''. This is likely due to her being a child but there have been studies which have found that Autistic people are generally taller than their neurotypical counterparts⟨05⟩.

CYN holds her head at a tilt which is an common autism stim⟨06⟩. We also see that she often uses her hand to adjust her head or to hold it in support, leading to the conclusion that she has hypotonia (weak “muscles”) which is characterised by symptoms like difficulty holding the head up, difficulties with sitting up⟨07⟩, and poor posture; all identified in CYN. The source just provided focuses mainly on infants but I did manage to find a case study of a ten year old written by Mark Hutten⟨08⟩. I also found an interesting study saying head tilting can assist in helping an autistic person with facial recognition⟨09⟩.

CYNs elbows are constantly bent over a 90 degree angle pulling her arms towards her chest. This is known as “T-Rex Arms” in the autistic community and is usually believed to be a form of stimming⟨10⟩. 

When not being used, CYNs hands are constantly limp. This is a commonly seen extension to the “T-Rex Arms”. I was unable to find a scholarly article but I did find a discussion point by the online influencer Autistic Emmalyn⟨11⟩.

CYN leans towards her left leg and her right leg is distinctly more bent, this is common in autistic people caused by what's known as “Leg length discrepancy”⟨12⟩. Note, I've found contradictory evidence for what causes “Leg length discrepancy”; does the posture decrease leg length, does the leg length induce posture, or is differing leg length an illusion. It is also unusual for both legs to be bent so it's hard to say with certainty this is the cause.

CYN points her feet inwards which is known as in-toeing which is a common symptom of autism although only generally present in young children⟨13⟩. In-toeing can be caused by “femoral anteversion”: I found no study directly correlating “Femoral Anteversion” and autism but I did find a study which correlated hypermobility with autism⟨14⟩ and a study which correlated “Femoral Anteversion'' with hypermobility⟨15⟩. Hypermobility has also been shown to be correlated with hypotonia⟨16⟩.

CYN is seen pulling her thighs inwards which is a sign of autism and many autistic people (specifically autistic children) do it to help them find balance⟨13⟩.

Note that there is one scene in which she doesn’t stand in the manner described above, in this scene she is not the focus and she’s very much obscured. I believe at this point this is likely an animation error. I will be discussing this in greater detail later on but cannot currently due to the problem of spoilers.

Walking

The problem with discussing the manner in which CYN walks is that we get limited shots of her walking, particularly unsupported. The best evidence we do have comes from the gala preparations in episode 5 but in that scene the lower parts of her legs are obscured and she is taking aid from N. There are other scenes where we somewhat see her walk but they each come with their own problems.

By comparing the number of times CYN and N’s head bob while walking together we get an indication of their respective stride lengths, by watching the scene at 0.25 speed CYN takes ~16 steps and N takes ~9 steps. Since they’re walking in tandem, we can conclude that CYNs stride length is 9/16=~0.5625 times that of N’s. Since stride length and height are directly proportional17, we can take into account their height difference by multiplying by the ratio of their heights (132cm/100cm=1.32) which gives us 1.32*0.5625=0.7425 so even when height is taken into account, CYNs stride length is significantly smaller than N’s and a smaller stride length is a symptom of autism⟨17⟩. This is also backed up in other scenes where we see CYN move and her stride appears very short.

While walking with N, her gait (distance between feet) is neurotypical, in other scenes where we see her walk, without aid, this is not the case so this is a direct example of where we cannot be certain of the information we’re getting from the gala preparation scene. A wider gait length is a sign of autism⟨18⟩.

When looking at the movement of her kneecaps compared to N and the other servants, she has a distinct increased hip flexion which is a symptom of autism which is an action taken to mitigate the effects of autism on mobility⟨18⟩.

Although she has an increased hip flexion, her knee’s do not appear to bend significantly which is another sign of autism along with limited ankle movement⟨18⟩. We only see one shot in the show where we see CYN feet while she’s moving and in that she takes only one small step backwards but it does seem that her ankles don’t bend, I am reluctant to push this as evidence due to how limited the data is.

In the cathedral scene, we see that she seemingly pauses between steps as she walks (this behaviour is not present when walking with N). This is referred to as an increase in the stance phrase which is a sign of autism⟨18⟩.

Oral

CYN (voiced by Allanah Fitzgerald⟨19⟩) has a very distinct manner in which she talks, for those unaware her voice sounds very reminiscent of Siri/Alexa which strongly contrasts most other characters in the show who have fully articulated voices. Without going into details (to avoid spoilers), there is an argument that can be made that her voice is the default for Worker Drones.

Here is a transcript of a conversation between CYN and N.

N       - *walking in*

CYN - “You seem, upset—big brother—N. Perhaps you'd like to attend the gala with me?—light sip”

N        -  “Ahh, not sure we’re invited, little buddy. Why not just hang with me?”

CYN - “climbing, criss cross applesauce—am I—not wanted, N?”

N        - “aww dude, you know its her parents… ahh, don’t give me those eyes”

CYN - “giggle, I am so naughty.”

certain parts of N’s lines being altered to avoid spoilers (CYNs lines have been left virtually unchanged).

The most obvious part of her language is her rigid voice, it is very monotone. This is not hard to correlate to Autism as ‘robotic’ is a common descriptor used to describe one of the ways people who are autistic talk⟨20⟩. I do want to mention that although her voice is robotic, she isn’t emotionless, through her actions it is clear she can feel a wide range of complex emotions including humour and annoyance; it's just she struggles showing it⟨23⟩.

CYN also uses phrases when performing certain actions such as “criss cross applesauce” when she is sitting down; this is a sign of Echolalia⟨20⟩ which is very common for autistic people⟨20⟩. Her phrase “you’d like to attend the gala with me” also gives the implications of delayed Echolalia⟨21⟩. Note, certain things she vocalises like “giggle” and “annoyed expression” aren’t Echolalia.

CYN does not show any sins of having narrow interests which is usually a common  symptom of Autism⟨20⟩. This may be a result of her limited screen presence as we don’t get significant indications of any of her interests.

Since we don’t see CYN through multiple stages of her life, it is difficult to determine if her language skills have developed unevenly⟨20⟩. She does mix childish and formal language together as she talks which can be interpreted as implying uneven language skills. I think the explanation of Echolalia fits better.

Her face, although much less emotive, isn’t devoid of emotion; she can somewhat show emotions like fear and can be very expressive but only in a rigid and forced manner although her face is usually unexpressive. She also sometimes she visually shows the wrong emotions like with the picture above she is excited but here eyes are showing the scared emotion. All these is very stereotypical of autistic people and defies the common stereotype⟨22⟩.

Doll slowly trudged forward. Every part of her body ached and throbbed, but she had to keep going, less that... thing caught her again.

The doll pressed her hand firmly against her open abdomen, trying to keep her internal components and oil inside. Her breathing was rough and raspy. Doll continued to march forward. Maybe Uzi N and V would take pity on her and help. . .

Doll walked into an enormous cathedral. To her right was a massive flesh pit to Robo-god knows where. Doll walked between the pews and saw… Uzi! 

Uzi was right there! She just had to reach her, but her body was failing fast. Warnings and alerts pinged her vision. 

Warning! Low oil pressure!

Warning! Components missing!

Warning! Compartment breach! 

Warning! Shut-down imminent!

Shut Down: 3. . .

Wait! No!

2. . .

Uzi’s right there!

1. . .

Hurry!

Doll’s vision went dark. The last thing she saw was her vision turning sideways as she fell to the floor, still focused on Uzi. 

. . .

Doll woke up what felt like days later. Her head hurt and she felt… different. . .

She opened her eyes, or rather eye. Doll looked up to see the inside of her ribcage. Her eye widened and she tried to move.

Doll felt like she had three limbs, but they were all stuck on something. She tugged at them with all her might. She could hear Uzi’s voice, and someone else’s. Was it N’s? She couldn’t tell. Her mind was too focused on getting free. 

Doll looked up as she felt a shadow cover her, and her eye widened in fear.

It was that thing that attacked her earlier. Doll’s eye hollowed as she realized it was the first solver host Lizzy texted her about during one of V’s rants with her. It was Cyn, wearing the skin of a girl she couldn’t recognize. Was that the real Tessa? 

Cyn dropped down to its knees. Its face drew close. Doll wanted to scream, but nothing came out. Doll watched on in horror as Cyn opened its mouth and grabbed the top of Doll’s new form with it. She felt it tug hard and rip her from her corpse. 

Doll felt her limbs were free, but not knowing how to move them could only watch as Cyn swallowed her whole, slurping her limbs like spaghetti.

Doll felt sick. The soft robotic flesh slowly pulling her down was disorienting. She audibly groaned. The first sound she figured out how to make, and was disgusted at being swallowed. Normally, she enjoyed being swallowed. She spent her fair share inside Lizzy and Rebecca. She recently spent some time in J. She even spent time in N! But this was different. It felt as if the flesh of whoever was killed for Cyn's flesh suit had completely fused with the drone. 

Doll slid into Cyn’s stomach. She was covered in slimy oil and groaned again. Doll wiggled her new tentacle legs around, trying to elicit a response and figure out how to use them, but got no reaction. However, she figured out how they worked, and didn’t like it. 

Doll sighed and looked around. It looked like every other drone’s stomach, however she noticed there was flesh mixed in as well. It was gross. Doll could hear the normal squelches, groans, and gurgles, but they sounded different. They sounded real.

“So the flesh runs deep,” Doll thought, “Great.”

Doll sat for robo-god knows how long before she heard something. A voice in the void. It sounded like Cyn’s voice when she was disguised as “Tessa,” but younger? 

“So it got you too, huh?” 

The voice echoed around Doll. Overpowering the sounds of the stomach. Doll glanced around frantically, trying to find the source, but couldn’t see anything. 

“Кто ты? Покажи себя!” (Who are you? Show yourself!) Doll shouted at the voice.

The voice giggled and a glowing projection appeared before Doll, only instead of a pale blue tint, it was pure white. The space got cold and Doll shivered. 

It looked like the girl whose skin Cyn was wearing, only she looked more alive. She had real eyes and her proportions were normal instead of stretched. She looked at Doll with a warm smile.

“I’m Tessa! The real Tessa.”

“T-Tessa? Что? Как?” (What? How?) 

Doll was confused. Tessa could see that and huddled up next to Doll.

“I’m a ghost! Or something. I don’t know. I think I’m still alive, just fused with Cyn. She’s in control, of course. So I kinda just hang around!”

Doll was weirded out. She is the human? And she’s a ghost? This whole situation is weird.

“Как ты можешь меня понять? А вы знаете русский язык?” (How can you understand me? Do you know Russian?)

Tessa laughed and smiled.

“No, but since I’m merged with Cyn I have that auto-translate feature all drones have. So when you say something I hear it in English! Just like how you hear me in Russian!”

Doll rolled her eye. This situation just kept getting weirder and weirder.

“Это отстой.” (This Sucks.) 

“Tell me about it. Well, we have nothing but time here. Do you want to talk or something?” Doll sighed. There’s really not much else she could do inside this half-human, half-drone stomach. Doll pulls up a program from her system, one she had installed a long time ago and one she used in every stomach she’s ever been in. The program Doll’s mother had passed onto Doll from her days at Cabin Fever Labs; Tetris.

Doll settled into a corner of the stomach, the organ releasing a small squelch as she did. Doll read her previous high score, 9.1795851e+21. Only 23 times smaller than Yeva’s high score of 2.1113046e+23. However, in fairness to Doll, this is the first time she’s ever been forcefully stuck somewhere for an extended length of time. 

Tessa noticed Doll wasn’t responding to her, so she looked over to see Doll with a 1000-yard stare and a small Tetris logo in the corner of her round eye visor. 

“I can see you’re playing Tetris, uh. . . I never got your name.”

“Doll.”

“Doll. I can see you’re playing Tetris. Can I watch?” 

Doll rolled her eye. She was a little annoyed by Tessa’s presence, but she could at least indulge her for a bit. It would be nice to actually have someone to talk to for the first time since… prom? That was too long ago. After that, she had only ever interacted with the fake Tessa and J, but only on business and only briefly.

Doll switched her game from private to public, replacing her eye with the game she was playing. Tessa sat on her knees in the stomach, phasing through just a bit with her ghostly status to get a better angle. Tessa watched in amazement as Doll racked up a higher and higher score within seconds. Tessa could barely process the speed at which Doll played, but she kept watching. This is the first real interesting thing she could watch that wasn’t violent or disturbing. 

“Wow, Doll. You’re really good at this!” 

Doll was stunned, although her visor didn’t show it. It had been a while since anyone had complimented her on anything, and the last person to do so had chosen her parent’s killer over her. 

“Я. . . Спасибо. . .” (I. . . Thank you. . .)

And so they sat. Tessa watching as Doll played Tetris for hours. Doll’s score grew larger and larger as time went on until she eventually went too fast for her system, ending up with a score of 1.0556523e+22, 20 times less than Yeva’s high score. An improvement.

Doll sighed and looked around. Everything looked the same, but it was nice to look away from a game to get your head straight. Tessa still sat in front of Doll, not looking any more tired than when Doll first started. 

“Ты не устал?” (Aren’t you tired?) 

“Nah. I’m a ghost thing! I don’t need sleep, or get tired, or anything! I do sleep in here though, just to break up my day, week, whatever.”

Doll thought about it for a second. It made sense. Tessa wasn’t alive in the traditional way, so why expect her to have the same needs? However, that did make her curious.

“Если ты призрак, можешь ли ты владеть вещами? Как я?” (If you’re a ghost, can you possess stuff? Like me?”

Tessa looked up in thought. 

“I never really thought about that. Then again, I never had the chance to try. Would you mind?” Tessa gestured to Doll, and Doll shrugged her tentacles.

“Мне интересно узнать, сможешь ли ты. Ты можешь попытаться овладеть мной.” (I'm curious to find out if you can. You may try and possess me.)

Tessa floated to Doll like the ghost she was. Tessa took a deep breath and flew into Doll. Doll began to feel cold and like there was another person in her head. Doll’s visor color changed from red to pink, a mix of Doll’s red and Tessa’s white. She tried to move her limbs, but couldn’t. It’s like she was—

“No way!”

Doll watched her limbs move like a human checking their hands. 

“It worked, Doll!”

“Ты овладел мной?” (You possessed me?)

“I possessed you!”

Tessa moved Doll’s limbs around, feeling around the belly of Cyn. 

“Это круто, но можешь ли ты—” (That’s cool, but can you—)

“This is so cool! This feels so weird! It’s been a while since I’ve felt anything! I love it!”

While Tessa was as happy as a kid on Christmas, Doll watched on silently. It annoyed her to have her body used like this, but at least this possessor wasn't trying to end life as we know it. 

“Doll, I wonder if I can... Yes!”

Tessa pulled up Tetris on Doll’s system. Doll watched in surprise and intrigue as Tessa began playing. It only took Tessa a few minutes to lose with a score of only a few thousand, but she was excited.

“That was so much fun! I can’t believe I can— Oops! S-sorry, Doll. I didn’t mean to take so long…”

Tessa quickly unpossessed Doll, which was surprisingly easy to her. Doll’s eye returned to red. Doll sighed and moved her limbs to make sure she was in control. Doll turned to look at Tessa, who had an apologetic expression on her face.

“Sorry again for—”

“Все в порядке.” (It’s fine.)

“But—”

“Его. Отлично.” (It’s. Fine.)

“Okay.”

“Хотите сыграть еще раз?” (Want to play again?)

Tessa’s eyes lit up and she enthusiastically nodded her head yes and quickly repossessed Doll.

Doll and Tessa would go on to take turns playing until Doll was eventually rescued from Cyn’s stomach by N and Uzi. Doll would allow Tessa to possess her right before her rescue, freeing Tessa from Cyn and allowing her to live among the drones as a free spirit, able to roam where she pleased. 

Exactly one year after Cyn’s defeat and the rescue of Doll and Tessa, Tessa would be presented with a worker drone body by Doll for her to have as a permanent body. When Tessa possessed her new body, she found a small 1.3 gigabyte file in a folder named, “For Tessa, From Doll.” The file name read,

Pondering J Oneshot

CW Mentions of death and body horror, Standard MD stuff

J stared out. Out at the cold, barren landscape of Copper 9. She stared out, thinking. She was doing more of that lately. Especially about the past. She normally refused to think about back then. What was the point? But now, there wasn't much else to think about. Her and "Tessa" were on the down low, trying to figure out where the cabin fever labs were hidden. And she'd done enough thinking about that, about "Tessa" and her orders. "Tessa," yeah right. J knew it was Cyn, she'd known for years at this point. The horrible little thing kept her believing, hoping, praying even that Tessa was still alive and that's who J was communicating with over the relays. But eventually, as the little things added up and the contradictions complied on themselves like a pile of bounced checks, things clicked for J. She spent weeks agonizing over what she would do, even to the point where V started to get suspicious. In the end, it didn't even matter. Cyn didn't care, it only threatened to do anything if J told the others, and only because that could serve as a memory trigger. And while N had no memories of before. V had just enough to keep her loyal. She paused in her thoughts for a moment, glancing around the perimeter for any potential threats and checking her oil level. She'd need to feed in a few hours. There was only strong winds around her, blowing her hair every which way. J took a few deep breathes before going back to her thoughts. V, poor unsuspecting V. She remembered only a few things from Earth, mainly their time as worker drones and Cyn's "promise," honestly it was a lot more of a threat. But all V focused on was making sure things didn't get worse. N didn't know anything, of course, the idiot would just try to find some stupid way of fixing things that would only cost them time and Cyn's patience. J would know, after all. This was the second exo-planet they had been sent too, the first being somewhat of a test run for Cyn to train her little puppets. Both N and V had near equal memories of earth, minus the killing Cyn had them do when it destroyed the planet. It was a relatively barren planet when they got there, having been one of the first planets and mined almost entirely bare. Full of older drone models too. Programed, like almost all drones, with little sense of self-preservation. It was easy to take out almost all of them, as well as the few humans there that were managing the drones. However, the memories soon started to get to the other two. N became somewhat obsessive with getting back to Earth, wanting to help save Tessa and defeat Cyn. Still naive and stupid as ever. V backed him up on that, surprisingly, but was smart enough to agree that they should at least pretend to follow orders. J rolled her eyes at their plan, but a seed of hope remained that she couldn't quite kill. Cyn, however, found out, turned out the thing was able to listen in on them while they talked. It took control of N and broke his body open from the inside as the Cyn-controlled core forced it's way out, using the material of his corpse to create the an eldritch monster. It forced J to watch as it killed V. Saying that the she should see what happens when the job isn't done right. J still saw those memories whenever she went to sleep. Maybe it was Cyn, maybe it was her guilty conscience. Not like she knew either way. J had to watch as her friends coworkers were killed in front of her. She had to watch what happened when she didn't take control of her team and force them to follow orders. She wasn't going to let that happen again. Every time they tried something, it failed. Every time they failed, they were punished. Every time J didn't do what she was told, she was punished. She didn't care if Cyn tricked her at this point, it was too late for her to try to switch sides again. She was done.

Dangerous Sample: Multiversal Time Travel story about a genetically engineered pirate captain who has to learn about saving the multiverse, found family, and trusting again after having been betrayed.

What I currently have: Some random lines and passages from throughout the story that act as milestones for important plot points, or something I thought sounded witty.

Goal: Get the start of the story down properly

The Lost Drone: A story about a Disassembly Drone named K on the remnants of Plat-Binary after the planet has been ripped apart, eaten, then abandoned by Cyn. K views Cyn as a mother figure, but has very suddenly been completely abandoned, even told she was disposable. Now she is alone in the void, on an asteroid she uses to hide from sunlight.

What I currently have: The start of the story, where Cyn abandons her, and is left in the asteroid field

Goal: Get part 2 down, describing some other survivors, and perhaps engineering a solution for survival.

A Light Touch of Cold Steel: A story set in Warhammer 40k, within the events of the video game Darktide. The main character, Ash, is a loose cannon veteran transgirl. She's joined by Jeanne the NB Judge Zealot, Taz the Bodyguard Ogryn, and Paige the Seer Psyker transgirl. It is a wartime BDSM focused romance between Ash and Hadron, with a lot of violence between scenes of comfort.

What I currently have: The introduction chapter, which gives us all of the main characters, and sets up the romance between Hadron and Ash, and the tense feeling of fear and lust Ash feels for the cold steel of Hadron. It's on AO3

Goal: Get a part 2 down. I intend to ignore Hadron in this part, focusing on the teams relationship and how they keep each other sane.

Dark Wizardess: An old original work of mine that needs updated. A story about a chuunibyou peasant witch who attempts to assassinate the princess. She fails, and the princess imprisons her, then decides to use her to help save the country from her incompetent father, who has been ruling the country with an iron fist. They're also lesbians :)

Lightning Elemental: Another old original work that I never got very far in, but which I've thought about often. A story about a girl who was born with a touch of lightning in her. It's meant as coding for ADHD with some magic, but when I originally wrote it, it definitely had a not-so-small amount of "And then she hurt everyone when she lost control" that needs to be... well, more intentional and addressed properly.

Necromantic Mech Pilot: A relatively new idea I've had, after chatting with @en-bitch a while ago that's stuck around in my head a little more than the rest of the Mech Brainrot. The story will deal with a necromancer witch, her magitech mech artificer girlfriend who was arrested by the state, and The Pilot, an undead who is the POV character who has no memories besides what it takes to fight and pilot a mech. The witch makes and powers the Mech, operating as the power core to the machine, while the pilot controls its movements and weaponry. It'll deal with polyamory, what it means to own and be owned

What I have: Vibes and a dream, a little bit of an outline.

Goal: Write up a part 1, or at least a cast of characters

Growing the Hive: A transwoman martian salvager in space picks up a long haul transport that set off it's emergency broadcast. She's joined by a catty anarchist diplomat and a techwiz hacker boything, who try their best to keep their little polycule solvent as they each handle their own responsibilities together.

Dust Mote: An old character concept from a shadowrun TTRPG I was in. An A.I. becomes Sapient in the instant it is killing someone in the defense of a Megacorporation's data. It realizes that the company would never let it live within microseconds of becoming sapients, and also realizes that the less intelligent defense systems of the company are going to kill it once they realize in only a few more seconds. It escapes into the body of the person is just killed, hijacking the cybernetic implants to control the body, and has to learn how to live as a human, in a squishy human body, and the horrors that entails. It also has to hide from it's previous owners, lest it be killed.

Am i the only one questioning the legitimacy of N,V, and Uzi's dynamic? I rewatched the entire show and suddenly came to some… interesting realizations. 

If you guys haven’t noticed, ep 5-8 (which has the most development between characters) lead directly into each other, ergo, they all take place in the span of a SINGLE night. Considering all the chaos that was going on and how everyone was separated for the majority of those episodes, there was no time for them to talk things out and progress into what they are now. Prior to ep 5, N and Uzi were still very much on platonic terms with each other, more busy with dealing with the solver and doll. Not to mention other factors that should have played a part in hindering the two developing feelings for each other that the show straight up doesn't address or acknowledge simply because NxUzi was always meant to be the true end goal. 

Meanwhile In V's case, the whole reason why she was so antagonistic towards Uzi and against her getting close to N was because she was afraid of cyn and suspected Uzi of being cyn's new host… which ended up being the correct assumption. V was literally proven right about uzi being corrupted/ possessed by cyn/ the solver at least twice. The two are not given any reason to become friends because 1- their respective feelings for N and 2- V knows from personal experience that Uzi is a danger to herself and everyone around her, even if it was never intentional. If anything, she is given even more reason to KILL uzi as the show progressed, not trust her regardless of how N feels about it.

Idk about you guys but i think Liam didn’t think things all the way through when he made this show. It feels like he hyper focused so hard on N and Uzi becoming a couple in the end that he forgot to proof read the rest of the show after making the pilot, almost as if he was writing it backwards…

Wrath of a kind soul - My predictions on how V's "death" will affect N and his inevitable breakdown

Phase 1: Before the storm

Phase 1A: quiet and distant N. He's quiet, his voice is noticeably shaky, and he gives 1 word responses or simply grunts. Uzi tries to hold his hand again, and N pushes it away. A broken and defeated man. More a machine than ever

Phase 1B: anger and blame. N is angry, solely focused on finishing the task at hand and ending all of this. Uzi makes a sarcastic remark (possibly at V's expense), trying to lighten the mood, and N gets PISSED! He starts blaming everyone. Blaming Uzi for not using her solver to save V, blaming Tessa for failing to control the sentinels, blames HIMSELF for losing V AGAIN

Phase 2: The storm

After phase 1 comes N's wrath. The crew comes across an enemy of theirs and absolutely ANNIHILATES them. (Bonus points if V comes back, sees it, and goes, "That's kinda hot")

-Sentinels: pretty standard, they come across a bunch of sentinels (maybe the red one that ignored Tessa's blood), and N makes the ep4 slaughter look kind

-Doll: they come across Doll, we get answers to her motivation and goals, then Doll makes the mistake of bragging about releasing the sentinels that got V, or taunts N about her death. That was Dolls last mistake. In the middle of Doll's speech, N starts laughing. Hysterically. Maniacally. Like V. N death stares Doll, says something about enjoying this, and then proceeds to EVISCERATE Doll. Doll will be trying to fight back, but N won't let her. That is more than she deserves. Doll will start pleading for mercy, Uzi may try to stop N only for N to smack Uzi away. Doll will have the most gory death of the entire show, we will finally get a good look at a worker drones insides. Once she's dead, N will once again start laughing maniacally again. He'll ask if V is proud of him. He avenged her after all. He killed one of the solver freaks. Maybe he'll remark that he'll have to show Lizzy a recording (he won't, but he's caught up in the moment) in the end, the silence will be his answer.

-Cyn: "you RUINED EVERYTHING". Cyn will take control of Uzi, Cyn will start saying things like, "we can be a family again. I've missed you brother. Now they can't throw us out. Are you proud of me big brother?" N will respond with how Cyn ruined his life. Destroyed his relationship with V, lobotomized him, made him endure years of abuse from J, wiped his memories, forced the love of his life to drive a scalpel through his head. Cyn took everything. Final battle ensues.
