thinking abt an au where dazai convinces chuuya to ditch the pm and join the ada and he gives chuuya his trench coat bc "its tradition for new recruits to receive a piece of clothing from the person who brought them in"

also chuuya totally has to hem it and it STILL is nearly floor-length and he has to actually tie its belt and it goes off his shoulders (yk like that one official art that everyone loves you know the one)

dazai's like “chuuya you dont actually have to wear it if it really is too big we literally have a 21 cm height diff i understand”

but chuuya is so adamant on wearing it bc its the first sign he's gone into the light and it reminds him of detective murase and its a gift from dazai he can't just not wear the oversized trench coat

kunichuuranzai is great actually because it combines my favorite bsd ship (kunichuuzai) with one of the funniest bsd ships (chuuran) and one of my favorite dynamics to study (dazairanpo) and also between the three of them, chuuya dazai and ranpo probably break every single one of kunikida's ideals for his future spouse in one way or another. which is basically the number one way to make kunikida fall in love with you

Kunikida owns a motorbike that he doesn't drive anymore(in storage) but he ends up talking about all things motor related with Chuuya and ends up getting it back out again and Dazai finds out when Kunikida and Chuuya come to pick him up for a date and they both show up on their motorbikes and he's completely shocked and swoons over his two hot motorbike boyfriends .

Pain is imagining how Atsushi might react when Kunikida gets a little too loud when yelling at Dazai and his words feel a little sharper, even if they're not directed at him, and his chest feels so tight all of a sudden and when he looks up again he's back in that place and it's so dark and the pain comes back and the silhouette he sees of the man yelling at him switches between that man and Kunikida and he can't escape and it's all too much and, and, and....

Darkness and the faint voice of his concerned coworkers lull him to sleep

bsd fic authors i understand yalls pain SO well right now why is it so fucking HARD to write dazai. like i have a whole fucking spreadsheet dedicated to tireless analysis i have done on my part so i can accurately characterize him but he is such an unpredictable and morally gray character that it's hard knowing his limits and boundaries and where he draws the line for himself.
