It was just for one second. Not even, that she closed her eyes, one. *One* measly second. Yet by the time she opened them, he was gone. Akito Shinonome, was gone. Is that how quickly someone's life could be taken away from them? How quickly his entire being could fade from his face? So impossibly fast that even years lived would be gone in an instant. And it was his birthday. His *birthday*. It was supposed to mark another year of life. Not his death. 'What a waste' she thought 'Everything lived only to have that taken away in a second'.
