Secondly, for a neglected! Reader plot,(or maybe a one-shot, whatever you feel like writing) what do you think about magical girl! Reader? Like, there's this pink (or any other color) teenage girl/boy in gotham that fights some type of not really scary monster (maybe those from precure, as they don't look that frightening) with glitter and hearts and cute stuff and then the batfam is just flabbergasted because why?? Are they?? So cute?? And they become yandere because they just think reader is so so adorable and innocent

And maybe gotham villains have a soft spot for reader becuase they saved them for the monster thingys

And now reader has to deal with all the most powerful entities in gotham being obsessed over them

And IF it is a neglected! Reader they have to deal with the pain of being adored by the batfam as their magical girl persona, but not as their real self

OR MAYBE!! Star butterfly! Reader (i could elaborate if you want!)

Hi! I love hearing from you again!!! I'm doing good, I just watched the Deadpool and Wolverine movie and it's taken a grip on me 😩

I love that idea for the plot! I was hoping to do a magical girl reader because my FYP on both Tiktok AND Tumblr has been magical girl batfam and I just finished watching Sailor Moon last night.

I'd love to incorporate that into the plot (as well as make a separate one-shot of it in a different instance).

I for sure think that the Batfam would have the mindset of "oh, they're dressed up in cute, bright colours and is fighting non-frightening monsters. That must mean they're an innocent teen playing dress up and doesn't actually know the truth about the real world"

Whether it's true or not is up to you to decide for now but I personally think that Reader would be in the middle, aware of the world around them but oblivious to how it affects themselves - or completely different then that, Reader would be completely aware of the world and struggles in real life but fights as a magical girl + with a smile on her face so she can give others hope.

For the villains I think for sure that the ones who have a proper soft spot (eg. Wouldn't get Reader involved in crimes, would work to protect Reader) would be Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, Riddler, Two-Face and Penguin.

For the villains that will let Reader get into trouble so they can save them I think it would be Bane, Catwoman, Clayface and Killer Croc. (Possibly Mad Hatter).

For the villains who would purposefully incorporate Reader into their schemes I think the main ones would be Joker, Hugo Strange and Scarecrow (for two different reasons however).

For Joker he'd see it more so as a bonding experience, a way to "hang out" and "catch up". Even if the Reader is held hostage, in the middle of the battle field, etc.

For Scarecrow I think it would come moreso from a sense of morbid curiosity. How far will Reader go to help people? How does their mind work? How will they react to Fear Gas? What is their fear?

I'd definitely think Harley would love the outfit and Mad Hatter would start to think of you as Alice with your colourful get-up.

If we're talking Batman villains who aren't in Gotham (Talia, Ra, Deadshot, Deathstroke) then I feel it would be a different kind of attachment.

It would be more like "what is this colourful child doing in such a dark place?" (Even if you are already in your adult years).

Talia and Ra would see Reader as someone to train, Reader has great strength to wield and if Talia/Ra can train them then Reader will be a great asset.

The difference between the two would be that Talia grows attached in a nurturing way while Ra grows attached in a condescending way.

Eg.

Talia would think of Reader as a child for her to protect

Ra would think of Reader as a lamb that will be slaughtered without him.

Deadshot has his own kid, he doesn't care much for another until seeing Reader hurt/sad. Reader would be a substitute for Deadshot's daughter while she's with her mother.

Deathstroke, I really don't like him (sorry if you do, he just makes me feel icky), but I feel he'd have a mix between Talia's headspace and Ra's headspace.

"Reader can't survive without me guiding them. Reader needs a father to help them grow" it doesn't matter if you have a dad, he won't compare to Deathstroke. If it's such a big deal for Reader Deathstroke will just remove Reader's father from the picture.

I think Arkham inmates almost unanimously hate Joker and a lot of these are connected to a love of Harley but 3 specific cases I think about a lot are Scarecrow Mad Hatter and Mr Freeze.

Scarecrow adored his time as a professor and more specifically he held his students with the highest regard, theyre the only group of people he would outright deny for the nightmarish fear tests he did. Because of his love, seeing ,joker ruin one of his star students absolutely kills him inside.

Mad Hatter is sadly a little too far gone to truly understand the full context of the Joker Harley situation but in his head? Its the Cheshire Cat being cruel to Alice. Its really a perfect storm for him to care, and he might not even notice if not for the similarities to the characters.

Freeze saw a lot of Nora in Harley when she first came to the Asylum as a psychiatrist. A very bubbly girl who really wants to help the world. Freeze is also someone who cares a lot about love. Love drives his entire goal, so when he hears about the Joker taking advantage of this pure love that Freeze would kill to have again, it makes his blood boil. The cherry on the top is Joker loves tormenting Freeze with quips like "what's wrong frosty? The old snowball and chain giving you the cold shoulder"

Took me a while. I have no excuse, it just took a while.

In a general, nothing majorly changes with them.

Riddler: He takes it as a sign of you actually wanting to be his child, or that you have some form of an attachment to him, for you to be so scared of being left alone. "Aww, how adorable, you truly do want me around then!" He's more doting on someone who gets scared to be left alone for a long time, and even tries to bring you along with some of his escapades before realizing that would leave a spot open for the insidious Batman to take you away from Riddler's loving grasp!

Scarecrow: He's more apprehensive at first, why...? Why do you seem afraid to have him go away? Is it that you find him comforting? Is this a trick to make him weak so you can escape? But he'll look at your teary eyes and see that you wouldn't try to manipulate him like that, that you just need someone nearby you. "Sweet child, I must leave, but I promise to return, does that make it better?" He wants to know why, and find out if he needs to hurt anyone, but... he likes that you need him.

Mad Hatter: The amount of joy he has when you ask him to stay, even if just for a little bit is indescribable with the English Lexicon. "Oh, of course Alice, I have no need to leave this magnificent wonderland just yet." Takes it in stride, as a point of pride that you want him to stay, even if it is because you're more scared to be alone than to be with him.

Harley: AWW! How adorable of you to accept your new mom already! Like the Riddler and Mad Hatter, they have delusions and quickly fall into them head-first, rather than feet-first. Of course you want her around, you want to spend time with your momma! If she finds out that it's because you've actually been abandoned, she smashes their face in with a hammer before feeding their dead body to Mr. J's hyenas.

Erudite is an Arkhamverse OC I made awhile back who I’ve tweaked a bit to fit in other universes (specifically 2022) but I mostly still associate with the game Arkham City.

She’s actually an android! She runs on Lazarus in place of blood, as she was a very early experiment into immortality by Ra’s Al Ghul back during his Wonder City years. He was never quite able to perfect her, so he abandoned the project in favor of his own preservation through the pit,

She lay incomplete and broken down in the old city until a few months before the events of Arkham City, when Edward Nygma discovered her “corpse” amongst the rubble. Being who he was, he became obsessed with perfecting and reworking the abandoned project, unaware of who had initially created her.

Then boom. One night while he’s working on her, those pitch black eyes blink open.

Edward stumbled back in shock, not ever fully believing in his own ability to repair such an old artifact, but in an instant… she’s awake.

And fully aware.

She has the mind of a bubbly young woman in social intelligence, but her mind, he could immediately tell, was unbelievably bright beyond her years. And despite his initial plans to simply power her down or use her as a prop in his traps, he finds himself feeling rather strong paternal urges towards her.

He named her Erudite, so she could also take up the mantle of Enigma, and now he brings her around as a sort of assistant. The other rogues know of her- Harley especially finds her adorable and is a bad influence on her. Jervis has been threatened several times after referring to her as Alice. Harvey has taken her under his wing several times, and is the sole other person who Edward deems responsible enough to babysit. She hasn’t met Selina yet- Edward is nervous she would blabber to the bat about her whereabouts. Ivy is weary of her, but they bond over their appreciation of flowers and wildlife, as Erudite loves studying plants as a stark contrast to her mechanical body.

Jonathan acts indifferent, but makes sure no harm comes to her. Besides, if she was to be damaged, Edward might lose that last bit of his sanity, and Crane would need his insufferable schemes in the coming months.

But then… Ra’s finds out about her. And immediately recognizes his own handiwork, despite Nygma’s butchering of his initial design. But he is still intrigued, and despite his other daughters’ disdain for the android, he begins to seek out her return to him as another asset to his cult following. Custody battles ensue. Edward tried very hard not to admit he loves her like a daughter and only wants to keep her safe from harm, disguising his need to hold onto her as a mere curiosity.

Btw her design is that of a perfect victorian girl, almost doll-like, with lines that indicate her panels connecting across her smooth face. Edward let’s her dress herself how she likes, and she has taken to Harley’s style of clothing with a greener aesthetic.

She’s v sweet and fascinated by the world around her, and simply wants a normal family dynamic. But she is also enthusiastic about helping around the city with whatever plots her father and his “friends” come up with.

Okay, okay so Ecco vs. Jervis? Ecco wins, 100%.

Like, Ecco does her research. Before she met Jerome, she probably already gathered all the info she could get on his accomplices and how he managed to escape Arkham and the like and I feel like she would've been prepared for Jervis.

(In fact, I believe she only ended up hypnotized in the first place because both her and Miah were probably too sure of themselves? Like, they probably didn't consider that Jerome was planning on being taken so therefore Jervis and Jonathan could've simply waited around Ecco's apartment to follow her to Miah's hideout.

But just between us: The whole place is full of cameras and somehow Ecco opens the door to Jervis and Jonathan? I mean, does Miah have one of those speaker systems so Jervis was able to hypnotize her from the other side of the door? I think there was a little suspension of disbelief involved actually).

Anyway Jervis isn't skilled in hand to hand combat and spends his confrontations with Jim hiding behind hostages or siccing his puppets on him (or even Ecco as his accomplice in S5) so Ecco just needs to get close enough to get a good swing in.

And she'd probably be smart enough to carry/wear some earplugs around Jervis if she's planning on attacking him or if they're on hostile grounds with each other. (Because canonly speaking, I don't think he'd hypnotize her. They like each other too much, there no reason for him to do it -other than his desire to be with her romantically-)

(She may even go out of her way to pretend she's hypnotized to trick him and get close enough to knock him the fuck out or kill him, depending on what's her mission there).

Ecco + Jervis....well, we all know my standpoint there aksnsnsn.

I have rambled about this countless times, but maybe not in public so to make it brief, I'm just saying that Ecco is probably the perfect doll Jervis could ever envision.

Like, his - and Miah's - whole thing is control and Miah has expertly shown that he can control at least one person to the point they would willingly die for him without being outright hypnotized and that's big.

On one hand I think that would incline Jervis to work with Miah in the first place - because he recognizes his talent and Ecco is like this shiny little trophy Miah can show off like 'Look what I accomplished, look how powerful I can be'.

And on the other I feel like how Ecco behaves around Miah and is loyal to him is exactly how Jervis wanted his relationship with Alice to be and once again, Miah didn't hypnotize Ecco.

She's doing all this without being forced and Jervis is fucking fascinated by that. He wants her. He wants her to be willing to die for him. He wants her to belong completely and utterly to him alone so he's the one who can show her off and have someone be loving and loyal without the added empty eyes blankly staring at him, expecting the next orders.

(Also I think he likes to paint himself as a gentleman and romantic, so he'd make it this whole show of how lovely Ecco isn't treated right and he would treat her like a princess obviously, completely disregarding the fact that she's really only valuable to him because Miah treated her so lowly and hurt and abused her because that's what made her so loyal. And if need be, he's gonna pick up some of Miah's methods to keep her in line. Only out of love though).

But I do also think that Jervis would see pre-gas and bullet Ecco as a powerful asset to the league and we have seen them get along greatly so if Ecco had more autonomy, he'd definitely treat her like an equal (like he treats Jerome or Jonathan) and he definitely values how she's similar to Jerome but that's a whole other rant.

(Also....he's hot. She's hot. I like them both. Why not like them while they smooch and Jervis gets handsy enough Ecco has to swat his hands away).

One more rambly thing while I'm at it tho:

I think it's very important for Miah and his influence within Gotham to have Ecco at his side.

I mean, not only does she do everything, from recruiting the Maniax to turning Jeremiah into a godlike figure, a messiah to be worshipped, to working with his allies and fighting his enemies, no, she's also his only 'proof' of his power so to say.

I mean, by the time S5 rolls around he does have a reputation among the citizens of Gotham but the villains? I think it's important for him to have Ecco around so he can show off how he can be cunning enough to get people on his side + as a way of threatening them by showing them how cruel he can be (which can range from stuff like using Ecco as his foot rest to outright slapping/choking her in front of people and have her thanking him for it).

If he doesn't have Ecco anymore, not only does he lose his right hand woman, he pretty much loses all his connection to his followers and the villains he worked with and it's gonna be a blow to his status as feared villain because the one who's actually a threat is gone, plus he can't use her to seem more imposing by bossing her around.

Someone has made the argument before that Miah's shit at captivating people through his words and persona (since Ecco draws them in and the moment he's alone with the maniax he loses them and has to burn them alive before they turn on him)-

-*cough cough* Jerome/Ecco parallels *cough cough*-

-so I think it's safe to say that killing her off may have been one of the stupidest decisions he's ever made. And not just because I like her.

He's never gonna find somebody he can manipulate to that point again because unless he plays the long con and really dedicates himself to it (which I think he's too impatient to do after the gas, he freely rolls his eyes at Ecco when he's annoyed with her, I don't think he's patient enough to play the dotting and loving partner for months to get his new Harley to the point she'd shoot herself for him), no one's gonna fall for him.

Jerome? Jerome could easily aquire a Harley and he'd just as easily keep her (mostly because he'd see her as a powerful asset rather than a mindless bimbo to worship him) but Miah? Nah.

He may have the role of helpless victim down but now that he's known as a villain it's gonna be harder to pull off and lure somebody in.

His safest bet would be kidnapping a kid tbh, -not that I ever thought about him kidnapping Barbara Lee, noooo-

Anyways, other fish in the sea? Miah can be lucky the villains still work with him without Ecco present as a mediator, finding a new girl to replace her is gonna be impossible.

(And ohhhh, the deliciousness of a fic where Miah realizes just that but still alive Ecco - because she's always alive, safe for two wips of mine - doesn't wanna go back to him, yeeeeesssss).

Ecco or Jervis?

Well, I don't think anyone's gonna be surprised when I go with Ecco here :D

I mean, I love Jervis and I love the storyline of Alice/Jervis and how neatly it ties into S3 but Ecco is my sweetheart and my baby and can possibly only be topped by Jerome.

-quite literally-

Because while I adore Ecco, canonly speaking there's not much there, I just decided I wanted it to be that deep whereas Jerome has a lot of canon interactions with people and a super interesting storyline, plus a complex familial situation and just...like, not to bash on Miah but he has the perfect set up to be the Joker because he's been around since S1 and him and Bruce have an actual relationship that evolves over time and he has allies he actually gets along with and he's had at least one scene with most of the mains and backstory with most of the mains and it's just so good.

Like....if they'd introduced Ecco independently from Miah just to give Jerome a Harley, I think that would've actually been my dream come true.

(But they couldn't give him a Harley because apparently their definition of Joker/Harley is 'abusive' and it would've been super ooc to suddenly have Jerome run around choking girls into submissions and shooting them so they're not better than him when he's canonly into women who could kick his ass and values them as potential allies (Bridget)).

I have a very cute one: How would the Dork Squad + Harley react if, through a new Pen-Pal Program Arkham was implementing, they met a pen-pal who not only wrote them at least once or twice a week, but always wrote on very cute/fancy stationary, and sent them presents based on their interests as often as they could? Just imagining them receiving adorable letters in cute-ass envelopes along with gifts makes my heart go doki-doki. Thank you!

Jonathan Crane:

He appreciates the gestures

His pen-pal’s letters are definitely… unique, from his usual fan mail

Jon loves it; he keeps it safe in his main hideout where no scheming happens so that Batman won’t barge in and blow it up along with his diabolical plans

Edward Nygma:

He is going to ask his pen-pal for the green and some black stationary that they use

His pen-pal, not seeing a problem, buys Ed some and sends them over

By question marks, I mean they range from written to drawn to stickers to coloured paper and more

He’s constantly asking about whether or not his pen-pal sent another letter

One time, his pen-pal didn’t write for a whole month

Concerned, Ed broke out of Arkham just to use his detective skills to track them down and make sure they were okay

Turns out, they broke an arm and both hands in some sort of accident but doesn’t have enough money to pay for the best treatment to make sure their fractured bones heal properly

Edward proceeds to rob BRUCE FUCKING WAYNE and gives his pen-pal the money, making sure that they use it before it could be traced back to them

When Ed gets captured by Batman and left at the police precinct, Bruce (who’s done his own detective work as Batman and knows where the stolen money went) doesn’t press charges, much to Commissioner Gordon’s surprise

Soon enough, the cutesy letters slowly but steadily started pouring in again

Jervis Tetch:

*starts chanting* WONDERLAND THEMES! WONDERLAND THEMES! WONDERLAND THEMES!

Jervis wasn’t too sure about the one where Alice was actually plotting to take over Wonderland the whole time and the readers don’t catch on to it until the end, when Alice actually manages to take control of Wonderland, but the rest he absolutely adores

Jervis loves sharing the letters and gifts he receives from his pen-pal

It’s a point of both pride and fulfilment for him

Harley Quinzel:

You know she’s going to send them cute shit in return

Unlike the last three who were maybe enthusiastic, Harls is absolutely ecstatic

Red and black themes, little shaped doodles, love letter-type envelopes, it’s cute but also aesthetic as Hell

Harley loves writing about drama that happens in Arkham, her friends, ships she wants to sail, etc. to her pen-pal

Her pen-pal, in return, fills her in with all the juicy gossip from the outside world

Ivy likes to peek and read Harley’s pen-pal’s letters, because they often include things Ive is interested in as well

So Harley’s pen-pal is basically her gossip buddy and informant in one

Ciara Headcannons including other BTAS rogues (If you haven't read about my OC Ciara please do!)

Ciara is bilingual her second language is Chickasaw her native American tribe language.

Jonathan and Ciara talk about books only of ones she knows for example "How To Kill A Mockingbird" which is one of Jonathan's non horror favorite, he named his dog Atticus the main character from the book. This is my headcannon he has a dog.

Ciara dog sits sometimes for Jonathan

She is uncomfortable and not fond of Joker, who is hitting on her and being his charming bastard self around her since he isn't dating Harley anymore she's with Ivy (my headcannon) and Joker just won't leave Ciara alone.

Ciara and Edward would watch Jeopardy, wheel of Fortune, and Family Feud together on movie nights when he visits.

Jervis and Ciara watch Alice in wonderland the old cartoon and the newer movies together and would bake and have tea together as Jervis educates her about others tea other than sweet tea and makes some for her to have.

Ciara has a garden and lovely plants and flowers in her home and open yard thx to Ivy who adores Ciaras nature plant loving heart.

Harley and Ciara both loves candy and both hang out talking about sweets and eat candy together getting sugar rushes lol.

Oswald is the only one that has heard Ciara sing because Ciara thinks Oswald is best to be the first one to hear her singing voice.

Ciara stays out of Batman's way and anywhere he would be she does not want her location found or to be spotted by him for reasons.

Ciara is a inch shorter than Edward being almost as tall as him, and taller than Selina, Ivy, and Harley.

Ciara hates being told what to do or someone bossing her around since she hasn't had anyone to tell her what to do since she ran away from home so she wouldn't know what to do but be stubborn about it.

Ciara is athletic and has a fit body from doing mostly wood work as in chopping wood for her fireplace in her shack even though she has a AC.

She can spin both arms completely around and it freaks out Jervis and mainly Edward and Jonathan loves it.

Ciara is so damn stealthy and sneaky like Jonathan even she can spook him sometimes which he deeply admires.

Ciara isn't intimidated or scared of Lyle Bolton like the rogues are but can be nervous around him if she even knew or met him.

She has the strength of a man so don't try to fight her. Literally. Unless you want someone that could probably do WWE moves on you to take you down.

Ciara is a fast fucking runner she loves to runner sometimes it's hard for Jonathan to keep up with her in the cornfield.

Ciara is ticklish and Edward and Harley enjoy trying to make her smile and laugh mainly Harley.

Ciara is part of dorksquad now and you can't change my mind. It is what it is.

Ciara doesn't know her strength fully or what she's fully capable of. She also has high pain tolerance so sometimes she wouldn't even notice it without giving a look or someone has to tell her.

Smokey band Movie Reviews: Wowza

The Suicide Squad is the best film DC has made since The Dark Knight. That’s it. That’s the review. If you want to know why i can say that with unassailable confidence, you can continue reading but from this point on, i am literally just going to gush about this f*cking thing like a straight up school girl.  It’s that good and you should go watch it right now. This is about to be a love letter to the best film I've seen all year, mostly because i haven’t seen any A24 flicks, but this thing is a fantastic consolation for that glaring disappointment.

The Inspired

The writing in this movie is easily the best the DCEU has to offer. I say that knowing there are some people who believe BvS is f*cking Shakespeare and MoS is Hemingway. They’re not. They’re both dogsh*t. The Suicide Squad absolutely is everything the neckbeard fanboys want those films to be. I marvel at how well the events blend, how organically the character interact, how real they feel in a movie with a giant kaiju space starfish as the driving conflict for the plot. It’s f*cking inspired and lays solid ground work for very exceptional aspect of this movie going forward. Your film starts on the page and James Gunn understands that sh*t very well.

The emotion in this movie is palpable. I literally teared up toward the end. That’s rare for me because I'm kind of an emotionless monster but that line, “I’m a superhero!” f*cking gut checked me. Gunn has done that to me three times. “WE are Groot.” "He may have been your father, boy. But he wasn't your daddy." It wasn’t Pete swinging in after the “On your left.” in Endgame but it was close. Dude is too good at that sh*t and it’s weird that Marvel is willing to let him go. They better lock that dude the f*ck up!

Chemistry is everything for an ensemble like this and this cast definitely has that. I bought their interactions without having to suspend my disbelief, not like in other, lesser SKWAD films. I particularly like the relationship between Ratcatcher II and Bloodsport. That sh*t was sweet and brought a legitimate smile to my face.

I mentioned how well this film was written but, aside from the brilliant plot that made all of these misfit killers relevant, the character work really goes a long way to selling this narrative. Like, you absolutely fall in love with Polka Dot Man by the end of this thing. They made Peacemaker an irredeemable bastard. Like, do you know how well you have to develop a character played by John f*cking Cena, for people to hate him? He’s the White people version of The Rock! That’s near impossible but they definitely pull it off. It’s like Gunn watched the first SKWAD, saw what they did with El Diablo and just decided to do that. And when i say “do that’, i mean actually write these f*cking characters as people instead of stereotypes and tropes.

The Great

This is an ensemble film, which means it lives and dies by it’s cast. Well, this motherf*cker is living mas! Not a single character was miscast in this. Not a one. From the supporting characters like Alice Braga’s Sol Soria and Peter Capaldi’s Thinker, to the expendable distraction SKWAD. Loved seeing Jai Courtney’s Captain Boomerang again and i even like Pete Davidson’s Blackguard. I can’t stand Pete Davidson. This cast is MCU levels of excellent but, of course, there are standouts.

Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag does the best work of his career. This dude almost always sucks in the roles he takes on but I'm starting to think that’s because of the direction he’s given because dude kills it as Flag in this. I genuinely liked him this time around. He felt like a real person and not some caricature of whatever the generic US Marine is supposed to be.

Margot Robbie is the live action Harley Quinn. She embodies this character like Ledger did Joker and RDJ did Stark. It’s that good and this version of Harley is easily the best. She feels complete, like she’s finally the Harls in the comics and i love it. This Harleen is who the character should have been from the jump but a lot of that was on Margot. She had to grow into the character, develop her ability because the first time she donned that Puddin’ necklace was rough. She’s come a long way and so has Harley.

I touched on this before but John Cena’s Peacemaker is a f*cking bastard. This casting genius because of the message behind the movie. I’ll get into that later but casting the most All-America motherf*cker to play the villain in a film about US involvement in Sovereign Foreign nations? And for Cena to literally play up his Patriot shtick only to turn out to be an allegory for the sordid reality of America? Bro, this sh*t got over. Cena is outstanding as Peacemaker. This cat really does have the chops to be a movie star. Looking forward to this show they gave him, for sure.

Polka-Dot Man is arguably the best character in this entire film. I love what Gunn wrote for him and absolutely adore how David Dastmalchian gave the character life. He had the best arc in the entire film and i really enjoyed his journey. When he got his moment, i teared up a little bit. Dude deserved that. Dude earned that. For me to have such a visceral reaction to that scene is testament to how well  Dastmalchian did his job!

Listen, i love Idris Elba. I do. Cat has all of the swagger. He’s easily as charismatic as Obama and i dig that. However, he just plays Idris Elba. Like, his Bloodsport is literally just John Luther but, you know, murder prone. That’s not a bad thing, it definitely works, but, if I'm being honest, as a character, he’s the weakest of the lot but that’s how good everyone is in this. Idris f*cking Elba is the weakest character in this cast! What?? It’s not even like he’s bad or anything, he just plays the same dude over and over.

And now we get to my favorite character in this flick, Ratcatcher II. Listen, i have no idea who the f*ck Daniela Melchior is, but she is the absolute heart of this film, the moral compass of this team, and she never shirks away from that challenge. She has outstanding chemistry with Elba and the relationship between their two characters is the sweetest sh*t I've seen in a long time. It reminded me a lot of Logan and Laura. Melchior, if he chooses, can have a great career in Hollywood because she’s a real talent.

The Good

The plot to this thing makes sense. It’s not something as intricate as The Dark Knight but it’s head-and-shoulders better than anything the DCEU has produced and objectively sh*ts on the SKWAD that came before it. Destabilizing a small Latin American nation feels more like something Waller would have theses assholes do, rather than trying to kill a f*cking god with boomerangs and bullets. This movie is everything the first SWKAD attempt wants to be.

The violence and gore in this is ramped up to a eleven. There is a lot of grotesque sh*t in this thing and it starts the second Blackguard gets his face blown off. Like, his entire f*cking face. You see ALL of that sh*t and SO much more. Like, it gets grimy and i appreciated that. A SKWAD film needs that blood. This is a team of remorseless killers. We, as the audience, need to feel that and this flick delivers.

James Gunn can direct his ass off. When they announced he was going to be in charge of this film way back when, i knew it was going to be legit. When they announced t was a hard R, i needed it in my life. We’re talking Guardians with murder. Were talking the quintessential James Gunn vision and what a vision it is. Not only did he direct the f*ck out of this movie, but he wrote it, too! Mans has the only writing credit on this production. This is all him! It’s wild seeing the difference between directors on display. Gunn delivered a film that one could argue is the best of the year while Zack Snyder made f*cking Army of the Dead. The discrepancy between the quality of these two films is why i hate Snyder so much and have all of the love for Gunn.

The imagery in this thing is f*cking top tier. There are shot that are legitimate art It's a weird juxtaposition considering how bloody some of these scenes get but, f*ck, is it gorgeous!

I have to mention the editing. I usually don’t bother because it’s always adequate and, admittedly, it feels only slightly better in this film but it’s competent. It’s better than the first and you really feel that sh*t. Like, i watched the movie in preparation for this one and, oh my god, the difference in an actual team of professional film editors really cut a great film. Who’ have thought letting a f*cking trailer house construct your movie that it would end up feeling like a ton of trailers strung together and be bad?

This movie is overtly political. It has a lot to say about the influence of the US abroad. It doesn’t shy away from the realities of our international policy and really hammers home the reality of what the United States is, rather than the way we portray ourselves to be. This culminates in a struggle between Flag and Peacemaker; Both soldiers to the core but on opposite ends of the American ideal. It’s actually really brilliant and, if you aren’t paying attention, will go over your head. This is how you instill your politics into a film. This is how you execute ideals in a narrative. Gunn has a lot to say and he says it in the loudest way, but with the quietest voice.

The Okay

The only beef i can see people having with this is the exposition dumps. There are a few but they kind of stall the overall flow. I didn’t mind them too much because, by the time we get to them, the film has built up so much good will by being just fantastic.

The Verdict

I f*cking loved this movie, dude. Look how long this list of dope sh*t is. I literally itemized all of the reasons why this flick is so great. I can’t articulate it and more clear. I told you at the very beginning, literally the first thing i wrote, that The Suicide Squad is the best film in the DCEU and i mean that sh*t. Grace Randolph is a f*cking hack. Don’t listen to her incredibly bias opinion. Just f*cking go watch it and decide for yourself! It’s in theaters right now and on HBO max for free.

Alice: She refuses to believe in fate, mostly because that would mean she was taken by Harley and Joker for a reason, and she can't really find a reasoning for that. Nothing like that ever happens for a reason. Though Veronica would dare say that them meeting could have been it, but V keeps quiet because that whole thing is a touchy subject.

Veronica: Cats! But mostly the lynx and snow leopard. Honestly, you can't expect someone to be Selina Kyle's protégé and not like cats. She often donates or helps run fundraisers to protect certain feline species when she can, she's a lowkey advocate for animal rights and environmentalism.

Alice: Puppies! She's a sucker for dogs, really, but she also loves manatees and penguins. Honestly, anything that's cute and adorable. She just loves animals in general.

✝ : Is your muse religious?

Veronica: No, not really. Her mom was, and she wore a cross, but that's as far as that went. Religion wasn't necessarily important in Veronica's upbringing, and its not something she went to for comfort or answers.

Alice: She was actually raised Catholic (yes, until Harley and Joker snatched her), and she remained Catholic for the most part. She's not active in her religion, but there are some mannerisms that show (like crossing herself and such). She's not one to really talk about it and she really doesn't shove her religion down people's throats. If you didn't know her well enough, you wouldn't even know it, really.
