I am a man on the run Running on two empty lungs Running from my own mind And things I hide inside Some call it sweet temptation
Only a handful of people get the extreme privilege of having their cover blown by the FBI, specifically the BAU, and even more specifically, Derek Fucking Morgan.
If he had followed orders, and kept his mouth in line, then maybe this would have turned out better, maybe you’d be back in your house, checked in with your handler, and able to sleep for another night. But no. He pulls you over in the middle of the bar you worked at, and regardless of how hard you tried to get away from him, your efforts were ignored. He then ambushed you in the parking lot, trying to get you to listen. Talking to a fed could get you killed, and you were about to face that fear.
Freezers are quite comfortable when you’ve worked in the restaurant industry for long enough, but something about the way the mold perfumed the air in this one really seemed to bug the shit out of you.
You had been trying to keep track–maybe 36 hours— of how long you had been tied to this chair. You’ve only seen three people, but considering you had seen so many places struggling for able bodies, having three goons to rotate watch on someone was very impressive to you. If you weren’t tied to the chair, and not an undercover fed, and it was a different life, maybe that third one would have been your type.
Your thoughts were interrupted by the sound of the freezer squeaking open, and a woman walked in.
“Safya…”
“Alice.” She nodded, pulling up a chair across from you. The slightly attractive goon left the room, closing the freezer door behind him.
“You know why you’re here…”
You shook your head. “No I–”
“--I’ll let you know when you can speak and defend yourself, yes?”
You nodded and she continued. “Now. I was told you had been speaking to the same FBI agent who’s been pushing doors open that should stay closed. Is this true?”
“Yes.” You whispered.
“And what did he ask you?”
“About y-you, and about what you and I-I had been, um, doing together.” You licked your lips, trying to speed up your breathing–maybe you should have become an actress, and then all of this could be stopped with a simple shout from a director hiding behind some hidden cameras.
“And what did you say exactly?” The gun on her thigh flashed as she leaned forward, catching the reflection of the singular light.
“I told him I only knew you as a customer.” You looked at her, telling the honest to god truth. “That you we-were one of my regulars, and that was it. W-whatever your business is, is-is-isn’t my business.”
She nodded. “Good good. It’s such a shame really…”
Your eyes widened. “W-what?”
“Because I know you’re telling the truth. But if he was suspecting you, that means I have to let you go…”
“Saf please, I-I-I’ll keep my mouth shut, I-’ll Never–”
“Stop.” You closed your mouth, panicking outwardly as you internally tried to come up with some sort of escape plan, or at least some way to tell your cat how much you were going to miss him. “You have three hours once I let you go, to disappear. Understood? If I so much as hear that you’re back, it’s over. Clear?”
You nodded, suddenly formulating a completely different plan. If she watched you get into an unmarked van when you got out, you’d be fucked, completely. And you’d be jeopardizing the mission.
So now, instead of getting to do your job, you had to change everything about yourself, and go into hiding without letting anyone know for at least a month, doing your best to let the investigation continue without you.
So that’s what you did. Packed up everything into a small suitcase, gave your cat of three years to the girl on the corner, and picked up your last paycheck, before disappearing to god knows where. Running away.
Sometimes I don't trust myself Cameras on old empty shelves I live inside my brain To make sure I stay sane Good God, I think I need help
You had been fine, really, a month in some small town in the middle of Georgia, nowhere really. You had never been there before, but truthfully it was very peaceful, and across the country from your assignment. You had been there for only a month before Derek Morgan showed up at your door.
You were in biker shorts, a large sweater for a top–very Princess Diana of you. It was slightly colder, since it was now March, but you weren’t up in the mountains, allowing you to have some sort of reprieve from the freezing winters you used to live with.
Opening the door made you mad. You were glaring at him, and a man who seemed to be his partner.
“You need to leave. Now.” You tried to slam the door, but Derek was quicker than you were, pushing the door open causing you to stumble back. Once the two of them were in your house, you quickly shut the door. The blinds and windows were never opened anyways, and the entrances and exits were all locked, save for the front door.
“Listen here you motherfucker. Do you know how much you’ve ruined my life?! Because I could fucking tear you apart with my bare tee–”
“Woah, woah, calm down there Agent.”
His partner watched as you flinched at the title, having not heard it in over a month.
“I don’t think you understand. If I’m seen with you here, I’m dead. Three years of my life, down the drain because you couldn’t take no for an answer. Not very consentual of you Derek. Get out of my house.”
His partner spoke up. “Don’t you want to know why we’re here?”
“Not really, no.”
“I’m sorry Agent Morgan blew your cover.” said the skinnier of the two, but you didn’t look at him, still glaring at the Agent in question.
“Thank you so much. That makes everything sooo much better.”
“We want to put you in protective custody.”
That got you to tear your eyes away from Derek and look at the other agent. “I’m sorry, who are you?”
“I-I-I’m Doctor Spencer, uh, Reid.” You raised an eyebrow, curious about his sudden stutter, his sudden nervousness.
“What, are you not sure?”
“N-No–Yes, I mean.” He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. Something about flustering Doctor Reid made him seem incredibly endearing, almost cute. But if this was some other life, you meeting him could have been different and under much better circumstances.
“I’m sure that’s my name.” He mumbled, causing Derek to snort at Reid’s inability to look at you again.
“You think that’s funny Derek? Ruining other people’s day to feel tough?” You crossed your arms, lips pursed, ready to deck this guy in the face.
“Okay sweetheart—”
Before he could finish even his thought, you had him pinned down on the ground: face down, ass up. His arm was out straight behind him while you had a death grip on his wrist. Your knee was on his back, holding him in place as you whispered in his ear. “Call me sweetheart again and I won’t stop at just the arm lock. We clear?”
Derek let out a groan and tried to shift under you, but you dug your knee a little further into the point between his shoulder blades. “What was that Agent Morgan?”
“yes–Yes! Okay, jesus.” He grumbled, sighing in relief as you got off of him, looking over at Spencer.
“Would you like something to drink, Doctor Reid? I have tea or coffee…water?”
Spencer was simply dazed with the way you switched between agent and yourself, it was surely some skill you had to pick up while being in deep cover for three years.
“Spencer?”
“Y-Yes, sorry. Water would, uh, water would be good. Thank you.”
That’s when you killed him, stopping his heart in one simple motion.
It wasn’t even a full one, but the corner of your mouth lifted up, providing him with a glimpse of a genuine smile, a crack in the stone cold facade you placed to protect yourself. He smiled back as Derek got up, rubbing his wrist and grumbling in pain.
“I assume you like black coffee Agent Morgan.” you called from the kitchen, to which all you got was a grumbled “yes, please.” followed by what seemed like a laugh from Reid.
Spencer looked around the bare walls, the bare furniture. There were pictures around, sure, but they were of places you had visited, or at least pretended to. There was only one photo frame with a picture of yourself, and based on the edges, he could tell it was folded. From far away it seemed to be just a picture of you; your family hiding in plain sight.
He picked up the image and tried to determine how old you were. All he knew was that this photo was taken at some sort of wedding. You were laughing, smiling, dancing.
“I don’t know why I keep that picture anymore.” You spoke softly from the kitchen doorway. “Maybe it’s to remind me that I’m not just an echo of who I was before cover, ya know? I feel like I have to close her off sometimes.” You placed the mug down on the coffee table in front of Derek, along with a packet of sugar. (Derek was astonished that you had managed to deduce that about him). You also placed Spencer’s water down on the coffee table, sitting on the ottoman that was in front of the couch. “Sometimes I don’t trust myself. Feel like I have to keep her with me to make sure I stay sane. Like I constantly have to remind myself that I’m doing this bullshit for a reason.”
“That’s why we’re here.”
You nodded at Derek, flashing a quick, but hard, smile in his direction.
“You mentioned Witness Protection?”
But they say: "oh to be young" Innocent of what's to come
Witness Protection felt like a fucking joke. They had moved you to D.C. so that your favorite, and least favorite, FBI Agents could keep an eye on you. They would check in periodically, calling you from across the same park, walking past you on the street, it was bullshit really. And they had these two idiot, beat cops staying outside of your house each night, with a second undercover bodyguard who followed you around no matter where you went.
Suddenly you were more paranoid than before because now you knew people were watching you. Just because they claimed to be the good guys didn’t ease any sort of panic you felt.
Good was subjective. Good for who?
But It was lonely. You were bored.
You were young. You were hot. You wanted to go out.
Obviously this was immediately vetoed by your favorite FBI agent, who was no longer your favorite at the moment.
“You’re ridiculous if you think you’re losing your tail and sneaking off to a club. That is so unsafe Y/N. Do you even know how many people get kidnapped from clubs, especially women? It’s the perfect hunting grounds for rapists and killers and—”
“So come with me.” You bit the side of your cheek, trying not to smile too heavily at yourself in the mirror as you continued to fix up your hair.
“Absolutely not.”
“Why not? You get to personally guarantee my safety, plus, you don’t have to drink. You can just be my chaperone. Please Spencer! I haven’t been allowed to go out for the past three and a half years.”
You continued on when he started to protest again. “I’m going out Spence. Whether you come is completely up to you.”
You took his prolonged silence as a victory. “Pick me up at 9 then Lover Boy.” You went to hang up the phone before quickly throwing in a “No sweater vests!”
Oh, to be beautiful, each mistake excusable Give into sweet temptation
Somewhere in between the phone calls and the quick brushes past one another, you had fallen for Spencer. The attention to detail, the way he knew everything under the sun and yet nothing at all, the way he would swipe his hand over yours as he sat on a park bench next to you, two companions posing as strangers.
He would tell you the most fantastical stories, most of which came from what his mother used to read to him. Listening to the way he spoke, the way he would ramble on about anything you could possibly image. You could hear him sighing now, fantasizing about the night to come, the date you had set up for the both of you. He was never one to make the first move.
Which is why you suddenly became nervous at the idea of Spencer seeing you like this. Party girl outfit, hair done, makeup perfectly executed, tits out. Was this who you even were? What if Spencer saw you dressed like this and realized you were just some regular girl, and not this person he had been talking to for the past six months.
It’s not like you had time to change, considering there was knocking at your door, causing you to quickly exit the bedroom and open the door.
You barely had time to register who it was before a cloth was pressed over your mouth, and suddenly the world was black.
So, tell me what do I do? Am I just playing a fool? That never learned to grow old And still has no self-control
Warm. It was too warm. Your eyelids were heavy, and you couldn’t bring yourself to open them just yet, but it felt like you were back in the southwest. Your wrists tried to circle, but failed stunningly considering they were zip tied behind your back on whatever shitty wooden chair you were stuck on.
“She’s alive!” goosebumps. Your body entered fight or flight mode, immediately causing your eyes to pop open, squinting until they adjusted to the shitty lighting.
“Safya.” You mumbled. “Long time, no see.”
“You look so good dearest. What were your plans? Night on the town with that sweet Doctor?”
You didn’t react, only looking straight ahead at her, mentally preparing yourself for whatever she was about to throw at you.
“Don’t worry Y/N, we’ll get you to talk soon enough. You had to have assumed we would find you, I mean really. How foolish did you become? And lacking in such self control–it’s embarrassing.”
You felt your entire world crumble, dissolve into nothingness. But your face stayed motionless, betraying nothing. All you could do was hope that Spencer was not far behind them, dealing with whatever it was that you had managed to get yourself into.
I know what everybody knows Die young or you can grow old Until they bury you six below
There was a joke you had with your dad growing up: “Die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.” He would crack that joke at you when you would shit on his old people music or when he would take away your phone because you were grounded.
Part of you had never fully understood the meaning of the phrase until tonight.
Your face was pristine, not a scar on it.
The rest of your body? The same could not be said.
It ached. You were exhausted. And somehow you barely remembered any of it, just knowing that sometimes she would use knives, other times you wouldn’t be so lucky.
So when she placed the gun against your head, standing off against the BAU, you finally got it. The trauma, the scars, the emotional devastation.
Even worse, you sighed out of relief when she did.
She had spent over thirty hours torturing you, except you had no idea of what day it even was, considering you were halfway here, mind retreating in on itself.
You had been investigating Safya for her innate tortures of those close to her–it’s why you were undercover in the first place. The deaths surrounding her were all genuine suicides, she would never touch them after they were released from the warehouse. But their tragic end was posted in the morning edition several days later.
“It’s over.” You heard some man’s voice call out. It was stern. It sounded authoritative. If you wanted to open your eyes, you would’ve watched as the agents attempted to distract the woman, holding you tightly against her own body.
It felt nice to stand after so long, your legs barely supporting you. The stinging sensation of the cuts and burns melded with the sensation of your legs waking up. Your mind was enjoying the feeling. Some sort of fucked up post-torture torture, enjoying the fact that you could still feel your legs.
People were talking across you, but all you could do was fall into your mind further. This was a win-win for you. Safya shoots you, and boom–dead. Safya doesn’t surrender, and the likelihood of you being in the firing range, boom—dead. At least you’d be able to rest then, finally able to let the ache in your bones, in your mind rest.
But then you heard his voice.
That same voice that had kept you sane while you were hiding away from the world. The same voice that provided the only routine you were allowed. The same voice that talked to you from sundown to sun up, letting you relish in the knowledge he carried with him.
Spencer.
It was somehow still soft, but you could tell he was very serious at the moment. You aren’t sure what he said, but you started to laugh. It started small, your mouth twitching and laughing through your nose, but it grew and grew, until suddenly you were almost doubled over in laughter.
The entire room was silent, except for the sound of you losing your mind.
Safya released her hold on you, letting you drop to the floor, a small smirk across her face as the gun clattered to the ground.
What a sight you must’ve been, barely holding your chest up with your arms, laughing maniacally into the ground.
She had broken you.
The smirk didn’t leave her face as SSA Derek Morgan roughly placed cuffs on her wrists and shoved her out of the warehouse.
Your laughing didn’t stop for another whole minute. And Spencer waited. He sat next to you as your laughs slowly turned into sobs and your whole body collapsed into him. Your blood was all over the floor, all over the tools on the table she had, all over you. But he didn’t care.
He just held you as you cried and cried into him, eventually willing to let the EMTs take a look at you, on the condition that Spencer held your hand the entire time.
Once you were out of the warehouse, and stuck snugly in the back of a large, black SUV, Spencer beside you, you leaned your head against the window. There was no recognition as cars passed by, no jumping when horns blared, you just sat still, mind far off.
Spencer held your hand the entire ride, but it didn’t feel like enough to bring that girl back you once knew. It didn’t feel like living was worth anything now that she had disappeared from your view.
You saw the photo burn in your mind, watching as the flames consumed your smile, leaving you with nothing but a pile of ash and the pieces of a mind that might not ever be placed back together again.
So you lived, but at what cost?
Live long enough to tell your sons Things you learned when you were young So maybe I can have some self-control
Years later, you would sit in your new apartment, watching the sunset with a mug in your hands and a blanket around your arms. You unconsciously ran a hand up and down your thigh, feeling the healed marks and the scars that added texture in a place that should have felt smooth.
Something in the sky told you the day would not stay as beautiful as it had started. Your phone beeped, a message from Spencer.
He checked in with you every night he wasn’t home with you, letting you know he was okay, letting you know he was coming home to you. You quickly sent a text back, telling him you were excited for him to return tomorrow.
You heard the footsteps before you saw the person they belonged to. Your name was said softly as you placed your phone down on the counter, picking up the little boy, who was still half asleep, wrapped in his dinosaur pajamas and dinosaur blanket.
“What’s up bud.” You whispered, trying your best at the moment, considering your mind was somewhere far far away.
What he ended up mumbling out was some varying words that eventually amalgamated to the fact that he couldn’t sleep.
You nodded and kissed his head. “Want a story?”
You felt his head nod as he curled into you, not three years old and still so small. You picked him up, carrying him back to his room, and placing him in his bed. You adjusted his nightlight, before picking up one of the thousands of books Spencer had gotten for your son.
Once he was sound asleep, you placed a soft kiss on the crown on his head, and slowly snuck out of the room, leaving the door open a crack in case that story ended up not sufficing.
You heard your phone go off, quietly running to pick it up before your child woke up again.
“Hello?”
“She’s escaped”
The exhale you let out was a shaky one.
Spencer had been there to hand you piece after piece as you slowly placed yourself together again. He was there when you screamed in the middle of the night, and he was there when your eyes would flare dangerously with something more than hatred for the woman who had caused you such grief. You still barely wore skirts or shorts, opting to cover every inch you could whenever possible. Spencer watched as you struggled to stay put, mind wandering as far as it could.
“Y/N?”
“Sorry. Sorry. Just…”
“I know. Spencer is flying home as we speak. I still wanted to call and let you know before hand. Just, uh…You know.”
“Thanks Derek. I’ll see you soon.”
It felt wicked. The smile that spreads across your face. And it felt even more devious when you pulled the bottle of champagne off of the shelf it was so beautifully perched on, waiting for a special occasion to pop its cork.
You didn’t even grab a glass as you looked in the mirror, barely recognizing the person staring back at you. You toasted to yourself, swinging out of the bottle, enjoying as the bubbles slid down your throat as you pulled a chair out into the hallway. You unlocked the top cabinet above the fridge where your son could never reach, and pulled out the gun you used all those years ago.
Sitting in front of the only door in or out, all windows locked. Your safety was off, and the champagne made you feel invincible as you stared at the door, just waiting for her to knock on your door again, giving you the satisfaction of the opportunity to hurt her the same way she had hurt you.
Self control had never been your strong suit anyways.
Live long enough to tell your sons Things you learned when you were young So maybe I can have some self-control

(Glenn x reader) (sorry I’m sleepy it’s bad) (requests open)
“Hey man I can I get a brake it’s just plastic it’s not that loud”
“Ron’s a light sleeper you know that”
“Yeah but Ron’s Ron he’s chill”
“Yeah I- your right”
“Of course I am, come here” he ushers me over “you wanna light it?”
I chuckle softly “god this is just like college..”
“And high school”
“And high school” i smile gently “sure, hand me the lighter, lighter man”
He hands me the lighter and I try to flick it on and after five failed attempts Glenn put his hand over mine and successfully lights it on the first try “your still shit at that”
“My nails are short not my fault”
“Yeah sure” he moves my hand and lights his surprisingly tight bowl how did he fined a bong in the forgotten realms? If there’s a will there’s a way that’s how
“Hey man your one to talk you used to light up with a full on barbecue lighter”
He chuckles and pulls back exhaling with a plume of smoke “only cus you came over all the time and could never use normal lighters”
“Really that’s what you’re going with? I saw Morgan light with a candle once”
“Yeah but that’s only because she got all esoteric, like that caterpillar from Alice in whatever land and wanted to look the part” he pauses slightly and his face falls “I was-I was a terrible father”
“Hey now don’t get all down like that you did the best with what you had”
He slumps into my side hiding his face in my shoulder
“Come on Glenn you did great nicks a great kid”
“Nickolas is a good kid, nick used to cry himself to sleep because I was never home” he mumbles into my arm
“Well I- you got me there but hey my mom was never home and I’m doing just fine”
“Yeah it’s just- I’m never gonna se how MY kid turned out you know?”
“I’ll be honest, i don’t know, I have no clue, but if it makes you feel better your gonna see how my kid turns out and to her knowledge you helped raise her, so that’s something I guess”
“ but what if in the original timeline you raised her well and in this one I fucked it up?”
“what if the sea was filled with Marbles and ducks where called bobbles now I think that’s a more pressing question”
He chuckles “What?! That- that’s so- I don’t even know how to respond to that” I wrap my arm around his shoulder
“Listen if you messed up my kid than it probably just combated the messing up that I did so she’s going to turn out fine, and look nick was almost exactly like me at that age except he had cooler friends than i did so if your kid found his crowd I think you did just fine, your a great dad Glenn and don’t be like oh but that put me in jail for- I don’t care! Your a good dad given how much of a prick your dad was and so like fuck him your amazing” I look down at him and he’s snoring softly “love you man, you deserved better”

Another great episode with ep 4 of "The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart"!!! :D I read the book and we got more secrets revealed in this episodes and it was Alycia Debnam Carey's debut as adult Alice and now she's found out more of what June has been hiding from her. Will post the rest behind a cut, but this miniseries has done a great job adapting the book. Also for us Charlie Vickers fans he's credited in the episode but I never saw him in any scenes. It's possible he appeared in a quick flash, as both Alyla Browne and Tilda Cobham Hervey did as young Alice and Agnes, and I missed it. However, his character Clem's presence is felt in multiple scenes and with the introduction of 3 more characters.
This episode started with the 14 year time jump as Alice is now 24, but she's found out one of the secrets that June has been keeping and that she's been controlling Alice's life especially when it comes to any boy/man that has been interested in her. It started with her friend Oggie, who she had deported along with his mother as Alice had actually proposed to him. Felt so bad for that as Oggie was such a great friend and sweet boy and didn't deserve that. Then all of Alice's other boyfriends June sent away or paid off to leave. So now we're at the part where Alice left and went to Agnes Bluff, a national park that shares her mom's name and is now involved with two men, one who seems a nice guy Moss and the other who is a dark, mysterious man Dylan and happens to look like her father Clem.
This book does explore how a lot of women who are attracted to men unintentionally start relationships with guys like their fathers. It's starting a cycle again and I thought it was a great choice to cast an actor for Dylan who resembles Charlie Vickers, but also Moss does too when Charlie's clean shaven. So now she's involved in a love triangle.
But the biggest secret got revealed to, not to Alice but to Twig and Candy that June let Sally and John Morgan adopt Clem & Agnes's son Charlie. He's now 14 and they're a happy family and Charlie knows all about both his sisters, June, and his biological parents. He's been trying to contact Alice with Sally's help but June's forbidden it. She never even told Twig or Candy and they're shocked as they're realizing that June as has this cruel side. June tries to justify this as she thought Charlie would end up like this father but so far he's a sweet boy who has had health issues but is doing better now. And great casting here too as the boy playing Charlie looks so much like Charlie Vickers too, including having the same mole/freckle on their necks. So this caused Twig to actually leave June, even though she's sick, and Candy's thrown for a loop.
I was wondering when this was going to be revealed about June as she had been manipulating and emotionally/mentally abusing Twig, Candy, Alice, and even did to Clem and Agnes when they were children/teens. There's a lot more to be revealed too in the final 3 episodes and Charlie Vickers should be back as going by the book we have more flashbacks to come. This whole cast has been doing great and again so happy with how this has turned out so far.

Music: Not today.
Any notable cut scene:   Finally!  As Rountree is packing up for the day, Shyla asks him if he wants to go out for some tacos.  He can’t – he’s meeting with his friend David Packer about his investment money.  Shyla asks him not to.  Understanding that she may be overstepping, she knows Rountree has a real fire inside after what happened with Jordyn and the LAPD.  The person Rountree needs to invest in is himself.
As they leave, Sam is find a caretaker for his Dad.  The Admiral says that gets Sam a good night’s sleep.  The Admiral also thinks Alice Morgan deserved better.  The Admiral thinks maybe they should blow up the whole damn book on abuse cases.  Then promises to if Sam tells anyone he said that, the Admiral would make sure Sam didn’t get a good night’s sleep ever again.
Quote:  Deeks:  So it's, uh... June 30, 1990.  And my mom decides she wants to take me to watch the Dodgers play the Cardinals.  And I will never forget that day.” Alice:  “I don't care about sports.” Deeks:  “That's funny, 'cause I don't care about sports either.  No, the reason I remember it is because it was so hot.  Like, L.A. had been coming off this massive heat wave and I can still see the ice cream cone melting as it's being passed down the row.” Alice:  “Now you want to talk about weather?” Deeks:  “Actually, I do, because...that is the other thing that I can still see from that day, is my mom.  And she's sitting next to me in this 90-degree heat, except for the fact that she is wearing...she's wearing jeans and a long-sleeve turtleneck.  And she was covered up like that the whole entire summer.  Not that it matters, because she couldn't cover the bruises on her face.” Alice:  “Did he spare you, at least?” Deeks: “No.   I mean, but I was a kid, right?  Kids are supposed to have bruises.  I'd just tell the teachers that, um...I got another fight in the playground.  What do you tell people?” Alice:  “I don't have anyone left to tell.  He made me push everyone away.” Deeks:  “Yeah, they do that.”
Runner up:  Rountree:  “Was all that true? About your dad?” Deeks:  “Every word of it.”
Anything else:  At night in a suburban neighborhood, a woman is frantically packing her things.  She gets a phone call from her father and tries to blow him off.  Seeing her in a mirror, her clothes are covered with blood.  Her father is recommending a Tom Hanks movie as she is trying to get him off the phone.  She tells her father she loves him as she tries to leave the house.  A man’s dead body is making it hard to open the door.  But she succeeds.
Callen arrives home with two smoothies.  He’s worn out which surprises Anna.  She ran for six-miles, he “bailed” after two.  Since the bagel place didn’t have bagels, he brought smoothies.  Anna wanted bagels before her job interview that day.  She also wants to pick a wedding date.  Every time of the year Anna mentions, Callen has a reason not to get married at that time.  She offers him an out when it comes to getting married.  He wants to get married, Callen assures her, just find the right time to do it.
At the Blye-Deeks home, everyone is running around as the day starts.  Rosa is missing her backpack.  When Kensi tosses it, Deeks walks right into the tossed backpack.  Rosa and Deeks review her latest assignment as they hustle to leave.  Deeks gets a phone call – it’s Bertie.  She’s been on the road for six months of “eat, pray and loving” her way across the country.  Deeks thinks this is all TMI.  After seeing “Nomadland”, Bertie rented out her apartment so she is going to crash at the Blye-Deeks residence.  She needs someone to be there to let her in.  Rosa really needs to leave for school so they are going to figure something out.
Walking near the gym, Shyla hears Rountree working out and quoting “300”.  He’s working on an ancient martial arts technique to strengthen his grip and arms.  When Rountree gets a text, he asks Shyla to look at his phone – they could have a case.  Instead, Rountree has a text from “Packer” who is talking about his pants being on fire.  Packer is a friend of Rountree’s from Quantico.  Packer is starting a clothing line and Rountree is a possible investor.  He’s looking to grow some of the money Eric left them all last year.  After what happened to Rountree and Jordyn, he's looking to invest that money into a growing business.  Shyla would have taken the Eric money and spent some time in Tokyo.
Sam has a call and so does the Admiral.  Both are unhappy with their calls.  Sam lost another caretaker for Raymond, NCIS is making Kilbride go through another round of approvals for expenses.  Cranky men in Ops alert.
The Admiral looks around an empty Ops and wonders where is everyone.  On the screen is the dead man blocking the door from the opening scenes.  He is Lt. Jeff Morgan, an intelligence officer working out of a DoD Task Force.  Morgan was stabbed several times.  There are real concerns because Morgan was part of a team developing software to integrate intelligence gathered by all branches of the armed services.  If an outsider or foreign government got access to that software, they’d have access all U.S. military intelligence.  Sam asks if there are any suspects – China, Russia, Iran or Alice Morgan, Jeff’s wife.  She’s was seen leaving the house at the estimated time of death.
In the office driveway, Kensi and Deeks are arguing about who is going to help Bertie unpack.  Deeks is owed a favor by Kensi and he’s calling it in. She’s not interested in helping unpack all of Mama Deeks’s Michael Bublé fannish things.   Besides, Deeks should help his mother.  Callen arrives but isn’t interested in hearing any of this – he’s an orphan.  Deeks says that funny, Callen doesn’t agree.
Sam joins the trio, the most we’ve seen of this foursome together in a while.  He's been working since 8AM and everyone else just arrived.  Callen and Sam are off to the boatshed to meet with Morgan’s CO, Sam would like Kensi and Deeks to join Rountree at the crime scene.  Sighing Kensi mentions she has some accrued leave Kilbride wants her to take so she’ll help Roberta, get Rosa from school and Rosa can meet Bertie.  Deeks tells Kensi he owes her.
At the house Morgan household, Rountree found a locked laptop – Shyla is getting a warrant to get in.  Deeks is looking through some magazines while Rountree picks up the Morgans’s mail.  One magazine has expensive furniture.  Speaking of money, LAPD found a Rolex on Morgan’s wrist and a Lexus in the garage – this wasn’t a robbery gone bad.  Rountree is confused – a junior officer like Morgan doesn’t make Rolex money.
Deeks flips through Morgan’s credit card bills – they are big.  Since Alice Morgan didn’t have a job, the only way they could afford their lifestyle was if Jeff Morgan was selling military secrets.  Deeks sees that the credit card bills include electronic toll charges – an EZ Pass.  They can find Alice Morgan’s location that way.
In the boat shed, Morgan’s CO, Commander Burns, is not thrilled to be there.  There are cellphones for meetings like this.   He should be in his office dealing with the fallout from the tragedy of Morgan being killed and not sitting in the boatshed – a “Bubba Gump’s”.
Sam asks about the software.  According to Burns, it tracks everything from emails between intelligence offices to weapons and ordnance use and supplies.  Morgan was doing data analytics for the team but a month ago, he started visiting weapon manufacturers to make sure their software would work the with military’s new software.  Burns really didn’t have much of an opinion of Morgan except he was a good kid.  With hundreds of men under his command, he really didn’t know much about him.  He remembers Alice Morgan was quiet and unfriendly.  Burns is done with Callen and Sam.  He’ll answer any other questions by phone – he has work to do.  Callen and Sam want to check into Morgan’s travel vouchers to see where he went and who he saw.
In Ops, Shyla was able to get into the locked laptop but most accounts were logged out.  She was able to get into Alice Morgan’s text messages – the laptop and Alice’s phones were synced up.  There was a confirmation code for a company called Home Connection – discrete vacation rentals.  Shyla finds Alice Morgan booked a home on Larchmont an hour after she was seen leaving her home the night before.
In Larchmont, Rountree is really impressed with the area.  Good investments homes, water views – Rountree is talking about investments when Deeks says “Alice Morgan” who he sees leaving the rental house.  Rountree says “Alice Morgan” which has the same effect of yelling “federal agents” since Alice starts to run.  After she throws a branch cutter at Deeks, Rountree gets her to stop as she’s climbing a fence.  She is armed but surrenders.
In interrogation, Deeks is on the right side of the table while Rountree is in the corner.  Deeks is rattling on about the “Chose Your Adventures” books when Rountree says they have witnesses who saw her flee the scene of a murder.  Rountree and Deeks can sit with Alice in interrogation all day or they can help her.  Alice wonders where they were six months ago when she asked for help.  Deeks wants to know what happened six months ago.  Alice says she talked and talked and talked and nobody wanted to help.  She moves in her chair, making sure her jacket and long sleeves cover her arms.  An obviously bothered Deeks wants to take a break.  He’s getting everyone coffee.
Callen and Sam return to the office.  Cheryl, Raymond’s latest caretaker who is very into birds according to Callen, quit when Raymond started talking about war pigeons.  Mentioning that Raymond’s previous caretaker quit when he wouldn’t ride in her Mazda – Raymond likes American-made cars – Callen thinks Sam is avoiding the real issue.  Sam loves this conversation because Callen is all about avoiding issues…like his wedding date.  Sam is sure Anna will understand whatever is holding Callen back.  The Admiral walks by – everyone to Ops.
Shyla tells an arriving Callen and Sam that Alice Morgan isn’t talking.  Commander Burns sent over Morgan’s travel vouchers.  Comparing the travel vouchers to Morgan’s EZ-Pass charges, “something is rotten in Denmark” according to Shyla.  Morgan visited a number of companies that made high-grade military explosives.  After every meeting, he would go someplace 20-miles past his home.  Using Kaleidoscope, Morgan is seen driving into a storage facility in El Monte two-days before he was killed.  Sam gets a call from the caretaker agency.  He’s taking it outside of Ops.
Deeks returns alone to interrogation with a cup of coffee for Alice.  He explains it is June 30, 1990 and his mother takes him to a Cardinals-Dodgers game.  He remembers that day.  Alice doesn’t care about sports.  Deeks doesn’t either but he will always remember that day.  It was so hot.  Ice cream cones were melts as they were being passed down the row.  Alice doesn’t want to talk about the weather either.  Deeks does.  Because all he really remembers from that day – his mother wearing jeans and a long-sleeve turtleneck.  Not that it really mattered – she couldn’t cover the bruises on her face.  She wore clothes like that for the entire summer.
Alice asks if “he” spared Deeks.  Deeks says no but kids are supposed to have bruises.  He would tell the teachers he was fighting in the playground.  “What do you tell people?”  Alice said she had nobody to tell.  Her husband made her push everyone away.  Deeks asks how long has the abuse been going on.  Physically, Alice tells him, three-years.  “Mentally, who knows.”  She doesn’t have access to their bank account.  Morgan controlled every part of her life.
Deeks asks if a few months ago, she told the Navy.  There was a  military hotline and she called.  She didn’t hear back.  She filed a report with the family advocacy center who told her they’d look into it.  Deeks has to asks and understands if she did – did Alice kill her husband?  She didn’t – she found him dead when she arrived home.  What surprised Alice was even after everything he did, she tried to save him.  It doesn’t surprise Deeks.
Deeks asks why did she run.  Alice explains that her husband was a valuable asset to the military, “I’m not.”  She was afraid her reports would be used as motive.  She asks for a few minutes and Deeks agrees.  As he’s leaving, she mentions that her husband would smell like motor oil after he returns from his business trips.
At home, Bertie is telling Rosa about skinny dipping at a Ramada Inn off the Strip in Vegas.  Kensi isn’t thrilled.  Rosa is really entertained.  She would like to see Adele in Las Vegas, a friend has a condo and the family would let her use it.  The friend, Tay, is from her calculus class and Bertie is down on calculus.  With a disastrous marriage, three dead-end jobs and a brush with a pyramid scheme, she never used the Pythagorean theorem.  That’s really geometry, Kensi notes but Rosa is in love.  Bertie is the coolest.  Since Rosa needs to soccer cleats, she asks Kensi to take her and Tay to the mall.  Bertie moves on to a story about taking a sound bath behind a DQ in Marfa.
At a storage unit facility, Callen, now teamed up with Shyla, is brought to Jeff Morgan’s storage unit by the manager.  The place was cleaned out but still smells like almonds and motor oil – explosives manufacturers put the scent into their product on purpose.  Callen finds a small piece of C-4.  Shyla doesn’t think Morgan was killed for the software, he was killed after using his access to these explosive manufacturers to procure some product.  Callen worries about where the explosives are now.
The woman managing the storage unit place wants all the inside scoop if there is a dead body – she has a true crime podcast.  Three men were removing boxes from the back of the storage facility when the woman started her shift.  She doesn’t have access to the video surveillance, however, only her boss can do that.  Shyla wants the woman to call her boss – they need the footage now.  Shyla is also going to contact Commander Burns to figure out what is missing.
In Ops, Kilbride confirms that Alice Morgan contacted the military abuse hotlines to Deeks and Rountree in the boat shed.  The people running the hotlines say they take all abuse complaints seriously but there wasn’t enough information to move it to NCIS.  The Pentagon invested $1-billion to remedy this situation after past failures.  Deeks wonders how much of that money could have been saved if this was a priority from the start.  The Admiral is not pleased with Deeks’s statement.  He says since Alice didn’t kill her husband, figure out if she knows who did and disconnects.
Looking at Deeks, Rountree asks how much of the story he told Alice was true.  “Every word of it,” is Deeks’s reply.
Bertie finished doing laundry though Kensi out of the dryer sheets.  Asking for Rosa, Kensi explains that she’s negotiating between Tay and a friend over a disagreement.  She also tells Bertie that she doesn’t have to do laundry.  Bertie missed doing the laundry.  Kensi tries telling her mother-in-law that she and Deeks missed her but Bertie knows better.
Bertie also knows Kensi is feeling a bit overwhelmed by parenthood.  Kensi notes that she’s not “technically” Rosa’s parent.  Bertie asks Kensi if she loves Rosa and wants to keep her safe.  Kensi does on both.  Bertie follows up - does Kensi fear she isn’t doing enough even though she’s exhausted from doing too much.  “Every single morning.”  Bertie doesn’t care about “technically” – Kensi is Rosa’s parent.  Kensi spent her entire NCIS career being one step ahead of everyone else.  She thought she could do that with being a parent.  She couldn’t.
Bertie offers some words of wisdom from her mother about being a parent – it’s like being pecked to death by a chicken.  That’s not helpful.
Shyla has news for “Shark Tank” – Rountree.  She’s sending video of the three men who took the explosives from the storage unit but the footage is awful.  Rountree goes into interrogation to see if Alice knows any of the men.  Alice recognizes one of the men – she met him at a wine festival.  She remembers the date – it was her birthday.  She thought he was doing something nice for her birthday.  Obviously not.  As Rountree goes to tell Shyla, Alice asks Deeks what happened to his father.  Deeks tells her he shot him and two weeks later, he was in jail.
Callen and Shyla return to the office.  She gets a call as she returns to Ops, Callen goes to see Sam in the bullpen.  They are on a video call with Commander Burns.  He assures Callen and Sam that he’s been working with ATF.  15 to 25 pounds of C-4 is missing with a lot of blasting caps and detonation cord. Callen asks abuse complaints about Morgan.  Burns did not have enough evidence to move forward.  Before Callen and Sam could press him, Shyla needs them in Ops.  They quickly end the call but promise to call back.
In Ops, Shyla found Morgan had several bank account Alice Morgan knew nothing about.  Several of them received $9,000 deposits in the prior week – a transaction amount just under the amount of money a bank would have to report to Feds.  Met World Holdings sent the money.  It is owned by an Ivan Parson, who looks like one of the man in grainy video.  Met World Holdings is an import/export business – they move fine foods and fine wines.  Parson is connected to extremist groups in Ireland, Germany and Indonesia.
The Admiral is looking for a sitrep.  Met World Holdings has an unoccupied space in Hollywood.  Deeks is getting Alice to a safe house so Callen, Sam and a seven-minutes out Rountree are at the unoccupied space.  The Admiral reminds everyone that the job is to get back the explosives without blowing up a city block.  The only way LA is going down in flames is if the Admiral has the match.
Callen and Sam move near the building.  They can see some shelves of items and a man but he’s not Parsons.  Going through the back door, Callen and Sam see Parsons.  Sam throws a wine bottle to get one of the men’s attention.  Sam quickly takes him out but makes enough noise to get Parsons and a minion to run.  Callen tackles the friend but Parsons gets to his vehicle.  An arriving Rountree stops him but Parsons throws his bag of explosives in the air and shoots them.  That sends Rountree flying but Sam takes down Parsons with ease.
As Parsons is being taken away, Callen tells Sam and Rountree that Morgan wanted to back out of the deal but Parsons already paid for the explosives.  Morgan was either scared or greedy.  He also wasn’t as tough as he thought he was.
Deeks joins Bertie on the back porch.  They share a couple of beers as Bertie asks if he got all the cats out of the trees.  Deeks said he did his best.  Deeks wants to talk about “Dad”.  Bertie isn’t interested in her past.  Deeks doesn’t think that’s fair – it is their past.  He only wants to know how she made it through.  “Vicodin and Sally Jessy Raphael,” is her answer.  She doesn’t know.
Bertie explains that Deeks’s father took everything from the two of them, including the person Bertie used to be. But when he was gone, with Deeks’s help, she got that person back.  She’s made a lot of mistakes since that in her life but it is her life.  Deeks approves.
Kensi and Rosa join Deeks and Bertie on the patio.  They’re just back from the mall.  Rosa would like to visit San Francisco and Deeks is all in on that.  Bertie invites herself – she knows a thruple up in Barstow that can rent then an RV.  Deeks is horrified by his mother being in a thruple.  Bertie assure him she’s not a part of the thruple, she just knows one.
Anna returns home.  She thought they were going to dinner but Callen has a candles and some wine.  He also got bagels.  He loves Anna and he’d marry her tomorrow.  When they get married, he wants to be surrounded by everyone that means everything to them.  Arkady and Hetty are part of the package.  Anna isn’t happy but Callen explains Hetty has been in his life from the beginning.  He can’t get married without her.  She has more of the story and he needs her to tell it.  If he doesn’t do this, Hetty will always be the other person in the room.  He doesn’t need a lot more time but Anna is giving him all the time he needs.  She only asks the he tell the truth, even with it is hard, especially when it is hard.  He promises he will.
What head canon can be formed from here:   While the case of the week wasn’t much, that felt intentional.  The guys who stole the explosives were plot points.  They weren’t the typical bad guy – they were a bunch of dudes.  The hour instead was about family relationships.  It started with the Kolcheck-Callen and  Blye-Deeks households, moved to Rountree talking about his sister, Sam with his father and then the case of the week.
This was a terrific Deeks episode.  Light and goofy dad/husband at home, sad and serious with Alice and later with the Admiral, Rountree and Bertie.  There should be a bonus for the person who decided Pamela Reed would work as Deeks’s mom.  Just as light and goofy she could be in most of the episode, she was sad and serious near the end.  That scene with them alone wasn’t just family, it was two survivors who built themselves the lives they enjoy.
For a program and an NCISVerse that is mostly pro-military, there was a real sense of disgust by Deeks and disappoint/disgust late in the episode by the Admiral over the handling of Alice’s abuse case.
Loved the explosion that sent Rountree flying – that’s the show I know and love.
Episode number:  Episode 307 overall, the fifth episode of season 14.

Smut, Shiki pegging her loving malewife Mikiya. It's so good that mikiya cries
Tsukihime
Incest tw, I need some respectful, reciprocated Kohaku/Hisui. I generally see it as Hisui being more forceful when it comes to engaging/starting, but leaving it to Kohaku to take the lead once they actually get intimate - of course, if the filler has a different take on the dynamic, I'd love to see that too! The main requirement here is fluff.

Shirou has a wet dream and accidentally projects Kanshou and Bakuya as very cute girls
Fate/Hollow Ataraxia
I know that Bazett had Cu for maybe a week or more, but I want just them get together for one night outing and have them act like a normal couple just before the holy grail war. I want it to be very sweet and hopeful. It doesn't have to end in sex. I wish there was more stuff cubaz stuff out there. ;3;
Fate/Zero

Smut, Siegfried fucking Kriemhild until she passes out
Tiamat interactions with Morgan & her knights . first off , Morgan should get the shovel talk from tiamat.
Smut, Itty Bitty Titty Committee hot springs meeting! Complete with hands on testing to make sure the current members can stay. (To clarify I do mean the adult women who are flat chested, like Shuten, Helena, Altera, and so on)
Chen Gong meeting Castoria, and she seems to really like him, and everyone is worried how she’ll react when he has to sacrifice her for the first time. Only for it to turn out that Castoria is massive masochist and she begged Chen for the opportunity.
Smut, Nightingale giving Gudao a very extensive and sensual prostate exam in her Trick or Treatment outfit.
Avicebron/Medea. I think of them either exploring their shared passion for creating or their tragic lives. Maybe both. Maybe these should also kiss.

Gudao telling dad jokes to Fuuma after he starts dating Danzo.
Grunhilde, pissed that Bloodaxe still hasn't convinced Guda to summon her, kindly through force makes Eric ask Medea(or Circe but I find it funnier Medea) to use her body for a short while. Medea agrees and they go on a date where Jason sees them and then shenanigans ensue. I would also like to add this is not a Jason/Medea fic but if whoever decides to do it goes in that way I have no reason to object.
Smut, Chiron getting fucked by redhare and/or Xiang Yu
Smut, Futa Tiamat fucking Gudao with spoiling and aftercare.
I am mad to say nobody has suggested this, but I wanna see Hijikata finding out about Okita’s tuberculosis one day when he repeatedly hears her cough daily and she’s all like, “WAIT I CAN EXPLAIN-“ cue Angry Pickle Man trying to help Okita despite the fact she is insisting she is fine.
I guess something where castoria realizes she’s in love (can be with gudao, oberon, or somebody else). the only problem? It seems that there’s a time loop. So now she has to find a way to break out of it and confess.
nobu decides to prank gudao with a trap, and she fails miserably because her girlfriend okita got in the way and accidentally activated the trap. so now she finds a way to fix her bullshittery
(rarepair hell) Something with Salieri and Kijyo Koyo, either fluff (him listening her play the Koto) or Smut (third asc on third asc)
Maybe something with ritsuka actually being selfish for once and taking up hajime saitous offer to run away with him? Or any servant really, he was just the first to pop to mind.
I’ve recently gotten into Mash/Tonelico (thanks to a certain unnamed writer) but I’m also into Guda/Morgan because of the whole “I’m your wife” thing. So in essence what I’m saying is: Mash: This is my girlfriend Tonelico and her spouse Guda.
Kinda of a Crackship, but i think King Hassan and Tiamat would make a cute pair
Tiamat's having a 24 hour session of her spoiling her children.

Ritsuka has a Big Massive Trauma moment and it's going badly. Morgan, a noted veteran of having Big Massive Trauma sees this, doesn't feel anything, doesn't like that she doesn't feel anything, and then goes to help Ritsuka intimately. And when I saw intimately I don't necessarily mean they fuck (Though they could), but I want the raw emotion shit. I want Ritsuka to cry and scream into Morgan, I want them to aggressively cuddle, I want Morgan to give the bone-crushing hug she never had.
Back during the FGO universe's holy grail war, Marisbury needs to give Solomon a good old mana transfer
BB gets bimbofied & made to dress like gudao by the koyan twins.
Ereshkigal/Guda (either gender,) aftermath of sex pollen. So your buddy got hit by the curse of Fuck Or Die, and you fucked it out of their system. Great! How do you handle the aftermath? You just fucked your bff (and/or crush) how do you deal with the awkwardness? do you talk about it? do you just kinda ignore it? i wanna know!! (you can write the sex pollen too if you want but i mostly want the aftermath)
There was a wacky theory Miss Crane is Demon Pillar Naberius. Would think it would be neat if there was a fic that explored that idea.
Smut, Nymphomaniac Ibuki, Barghest and Kukulkan plowing Gudako into a mindless puddle? Dicks and excessive amounts of cum are optional.
Smut, Gudako and Yu Paisen worshiping Xiang Yu's horse cock because there is no way a single person can satisfy him

Kadoc witnessing an event. can be a real event thats happened since or make one up tbh. (bonus content: kirschtaria gets to be there for the event too. how is he alive/in chaldea? u decide! i just think he'd get way too into it and have fun.)
nobu makes a bomb that self-destructs when she flexes how AWESOME it is. now she’s on the run because everybody is gonna get her. Even her master, but Gudao is… well, at the least to say, ‘loving’ to help her… mana transfer seduction.
lb5.5 kintoki/guda... platonic or romantic and even nsfw is fine!! id like for them to get along tho!

crossover in which fate/stay night illya adopts(kidnaps? stalks?) john wick as father figure pre-fsn because he kind of reminds her of kiritsugu
Any fandom
Smut, Hoi, Could I request some Grand Order Futa Somnophelia? Dont mind whos involved!
Suicide tw, Kinda fucked up, but i want to see a character having a mental breakdown and killing themselves
Smut, Anything where someone has a non-human cock. Artoria with a dragon cock, Tamamo fox knot, Shuten with a big blunt demon cock, anyone you can find an excuse to give a horse cock with a horse cock. Something like that
Can I have some furries? Can I PLEASE get some furries? Werewolf aus or dragon saber or anything you want just furry these bitches up pls thks
hnnngggrr Force-feminization is cool and all, but force-masculinization is comparatively rare. I'd love to see a fic involving some. Levels of explicitness, actual forcefulness, and characters all up to writer's discretion, but bonus points if involving characters who already have an unconventional relationship with their genders in any way.

He Saved Me || Part 6: A Mother's Love
(TW: Eating disorder and family issues)
Norman's POV
I really didn't deserve to eat that night, it's true. Maria's kind and all but.. I feel guilty when I eat... I always had to sneak out the house 1-2 some in the morning just to buy something for me and Alice. Mom was neglectful of me and Alice. So, what I decided to do was to... ask Maria to put my leftovers in the fridge.. I'm thinking of eating them for lunch.. but I'll wait on it. I tried to reach my dad... and he.. picked up.. I think. But I think his phone died..
It was 9PM, I needed to tell Maria the truth about my eating habits.. I was scared at first but to hell with it, she's an understanding person. I walk upstairs to get ready for bed and stop by her room. She was reading a book and concentrating on something. "Knock knock..." I shyly peered into her doorway. I was afraid as hell. "Norman, baby what's up?" She bookmarks where she is, sets her book down, takes off her glasses and asks me to sit and talk.
Maria's POV
"Norman, baby what's wrong?" I ask. I set down my book and take off my reading glasses. I made the motion for him to come on in and sit down. He sat down and he was really nervous, I could tell. I told him he doesn't have to if he doesn't want to. He got up and hugged me and said "you know what never mind but do you need any help with chores?"  I nodded and pointed to the dishes. Norman's a kind soul, he didn't deserve the treatment he had with you damnit, if you only took care of your damn children, he would be in a better place !! I wish you were in a psych ward, pray to the Lord for forgiveness first, then you'll be placed in there. No fucking wonder.
Morgan's POV
"Hey Norman do you need help with the dishes??" I ask. He shakes his head no but I go in and hug him from behind and he stops in his tracks. I let go and start to stutter a bit while saying "oh well um just let me know if you need help" I felt warm and fuzzy on the inside and I didn't feel sick but at the same time I did I felt like I just reached heaven. I could never like him tho right? He's straight and so am I. At least I think I'm not sure all I know is that I use he/they pronouns but that has to be the only thing right? Norman makes me happy he deserves the world he really does. I look up and I see that Norman looks like an apple!! I assumed it was out embarrassment. I ran out that room and when I left I heard the sink turn back on and Norman went back to the dishes. I went up stairs and opened my laptop and searched up "am I gay?" I hesitated to press enter and I closed my laptop when Norman walked in. I took a heavy sigh as he sat next to me near the window and he looked at my guitar and asked. "Can you play a song for... me..." I pick up the guitar and start strumming. He leans his head on me. He seems really happy. he deserves to be happy he needs it really. While playing our favorite song.

Falice and Choni is underrated and Varchie and Bughead is overrated.
cheryl, toni, Alice and fp deserves more screen time, we don’t need to see Varchie eating each other’s faces all the time and we don’t have to always see Bughead getting freaky and kinky in bed. I would like to see a fucking relationship development between Choni and Falice instead please and thank you very much.

Chapter Seven
Three years previously
Wincing, you massaged your aching hand before you moved your quill down your piece of parchment, tapping the point of the eagle owl feather against your chin as you thought what to write next. You were writing an essay for History of Magic which was definitely the most boring subject at Hogwarts and the mention of all the blood always made you feel squeamish.
You jerked your head up when you heard footsteps approaching your desk and you sincerely hoped that it wasn’t the Slytherin girl from the other day. You smiled in relief as you saw that it was Remus. Though, you were still a little nervous around him, obviously you knew him but you didn’t really hang round with him. It was mainly because he hung around with Sirius and every time you spoke to Sirius you stuttered and blood always rushed to your cheeks. You were so hopeless around Sirius but you couldn’t help it, he was just so handsome. But, he barely thought of you as a friend.
Remus was really nice though, “hi Y/N, can I sit down?” he smiled, sitting down when you nodded, “doing homework?” he asked with a teasing grin that made you flush.
“Yeah,” you whispered, you didn’t want to get yelled at by Madam Pince, “it’s for History of Magic so it’s a wonder that I’m not asleep,” you giggled and Remus nodded understandingly.
“Oh yeah, I can imagine, it should be an interesting subject but Professor Binns has an extraordinary talent of making it so boring,” he chuckled and you noticed that he looked tired, he was ill about once every month, “do you mind if I study with you?” he asked kindly as he pulled some parchment out of his bag.
You nodded, “of course I don’t mind but thank you for asking,” you answered meekly.
To tell the truth, you didn’t actually study together, instead you both did your homework in silence, only really talking when it was necessary but you liked being in his company. At one point, you passed him your inkwell because he had run out of ink and he touched your arm ever so gently, his eyebrows knitted together as he saw the bruises that littered your arm.
“What happened Y/N?”
Biting your lip, you shook the sleeves of your robes over your hands, “I bumped into one of the Slytherin prefects and she decided to hex me. I’m not very good at standing up for myself,” you wished that you could be braver but you just couldn’t. You hoped that he wouldn’t laugh at you.
Instead he sighed, his soft hazel eyes full of sympathy, you hated it when people looked at you like that, “Y/N,” he trailed off, frowning as he looked over your shoulder.
You turned around to see what had grabbed his attention. It was Narcissa Black, a beautiful but cold girl; she was also Sirius’ cousin. Her friend Morgana was at her side and she was also very pretty. They were probably two of the most popular girls in your year and they were smirking at you. Well, Narcissa was smirking at you, Morgana looked rather bored.
“Y/L/N,” Narcissa smirked before her cold ice blue eyes flicked over to Remus, “scram Lupin, I need to have a girl talk with Y/N.”
Remus opened his mouth to argue, promptly shutting it when somebody called his name from the doorway, “god Moony, you’re always in the library!” you recognised that loud teasing voice, your heart recognised it. Casually, you looked over at Sirius and froze in place, he was so breathtakingly beautiful, “hi Y/N,” he grinned. It felt like all the air had been stolen from your lungs as he carelessly raked a hand through his messy hair.
Your face flushed as you nodded at him and turned to Remus who had been watching you with worried eyes, “I’ll be fine Remus,” you mumbled, “you can go.” Remus sighed as he gave you a quick hug, glared at the Slytherin girls as he caught up with his friends. You chewed your lip nervously as Narcissa and Morgana sat opposite you.
“Tough break about what happened between you and Rosier’s girlfriend, I was sorry to hear about it,” Narcissa started, though she didn’t look sorry as malice sparkled in her eyes, “I know that you’ve got a crush on my cousin Sirius, it’s revolting the way you look at him. A blind man could see it.”
You sighed, feeling your body go hot at the mention of his name and you knew that there was no point in trying to deny it, “yeah, and so have many other people. Have you had this conversation with all of them?” you asked, your tone was a little snarky and Narcissa obviously heard it because her eyes flashed dangerously.
“Actually, we don’t,” Morgan drawled as she inspected her nails, not even looking up at you, “because Sirius doesn’t fancy them. He fancies you.”
Your mind went blank at Morgana’s words, you didn’t know Sirius all that well but you were sure that you would know if he fancied you. Your heart soared happily for a split second, just a split second before it plummeted down to your gut as you started to question Morgana’s words, “he can get anyone he wants, and he does. He’s not shy about people he fancies either. How would you know if he fancies me anyway? You don’t really talk to him, do you?”
Narcissa sighed as she rolled her eyes, it looked as though she thought of the whole thing as tiresome, “I overheard him telling James, and besides you’re rather pretty,” she shrugged.
“Why would you tip me off about this whole thing?” you muttered, you just didn’t know why two Slytherin girls, who weren’t very nice would tip you off about Sirius.
“Because it’s like I said, its revolting seeing you pine for him so just tell him how you feel already, because he feels the same,” she smirked, “see you, Y/L/N. Good luck,” she almost floated away.
Something just didn’t add up about the fact that Narcissa had been rather pleasant to you, she had something of a reputation but finally, you decided that you didn’t care. You dawdled in the corridor, trying to take as much time as possible, nerves and excitement swarmed in your stomach and mixed together to create the most wonderful feeling. It felt like you could do anything, it felt like you could walk on air. Though, you felt like this was all too good to be true.
100% of the time you would stutter and deny it when you were paid a compliment, but you were very pretty, even if you didn’t think so, everybody else thought so. Everybody who knew you had a crush on Sirius – and mostly everyone knew, you were so obvious – all thought that you deserved better.
With a slightly manic grin on your face, you climbed through the portrait hole, ready to confess your feelings. When you walked into the common room, your stomach filled with anxiety, you wanted those wonderful butterflies back, and you felt sick. Lily looked at you with wide green eyes and Remus chewed his lip, his eyes on the floor. Trying to hold your tears back, you glanced away from your friends, looking at the scene that was unfolding before you.
Sirius was very passionately snogging some random girl, right in the middle of the common room, on your favourite armchair, “Sirius,” you muttered, though you didn’t mean for his name to escape your mouth.
To your horror, the beautiful boy heard you and pulled away from the girl with a horrible sucking sound. Sirius grinned at you while the girl rolled her eyes and shot you a venomous glare, “how are you love?” he asked and you wished that he wasn’t so handsome.
You wished that you could just turn your feelings off but you knew that you weren’t the only girl who had had their heart broken by him. You supposed that he was making fun of you when he had told James that he had feelings for you.
“How  could you?” you whimpered, pretty much running out of the common room, not caring that quite a lot of people saw you. You ignored Alice and Lily’s call of your name. You had never known such pain in all your fourteen years of life, why would he do this?
Because you had just run out of the common room, you obviously couldn’t hear the conversation that was going on inside it, “Merlin, she is so weird,” the girl giggled before leaning in to kiss Sirius again.
His eyes flashed angrily as he backed away from her, “you need to leave. Right now,” the girl scoffed at his demand, “no, I mean it. Y/N is not weird, she’s wonderful, and she’s my friend.”
----------------------------------------------
Sirius rounded the corner at high speed, ignoring the amused flirtatious glances he was receiving as he ran a hand through his tangled hair; he’d fool around with someone later on. Remus panted as he almost had to jog to keep up with his best friend.
“Merlin, Sirius. Would you slow down? I know that you want to ask Lily about Y/N, but come on!” he grumbled and Sirius shot a smirk at him over his shoulder.
“C’mon on Moons, you’re not getting old on me are you?” finally, Sirius spotted Lily walking down the hallway with Alice, James was walking on the other side of Lily, looking at her adoringly, she looked very bored. Peter was at an extra study session because he was failing Potions, “Evans! Oi, Evans!” the pretty redhead looked up and rolled her eyes.
“What the hell do you want Sirius? Get lost by the way Potter,” she raised an eyebrow while Alice sighed. Sirius chuckled as James winked at him and he walked over to join Sirius and Remus.
“Is Y/N okay? I hardly see her anymore!” they weren’t very good friends but Sirius still missed her.
Lily sighed, “she’s fine, she’s just studying really hard. But I’ll tell her that you were asking after her,” she made to walk off but Sirius stopped her.
“Please, Lily. The only time I ever see her anymore is either in class or at mealtimes and even then she won’t speak to me. And, in the evenings she’s already up in the dormitories,” he gnawed at his lip, feeling guilty. He hoped that he hadn’t done anything to hurt her feelings; Y/N was really sweet.
Lily smirked at him but her green eyes looked angry as they flashed at him, “wow, you’re actually concerned about someone other than yourself, has hell frozen over? Maybe she just doesn’t like you, can’t say that I blame her. Catch you never,” she strode back down the hallway, arm in arm with Alice.
James sighed wistfully as he looked at her retreating back, “she’s so wonderful. How I wish she was mine.”
Sirius scowled at both Lily’s words and his best friends reaction to them, “c’mon Remus, James we have a free period, hopefully she’ll be in the common room,” Sirius climbed the staircase, taking two steps at a time.
“No, I don’t think that’s such a good idea, really Sirius. Maybe we should just leave her be,” Remus tried to reason with him and James agreed.
“He’s right Pads, if she’s not talking to you it must be for a reason,” James sighed, hurrying to keep up.
“And, I’m going to find out what that reason is,” he dismissed his friends words; he had to know what was going on with her and apologise if he needed to.
When the three boys entered the common room, they discovered that Y/N was sitting by the fire, engrossed on the book she was reading. Sirius cleared his throat, ruffling his hair nervously as Y/N looked up, politely startled. Her pretty eyes lingered on Sirius for a second before she looked at Remus and James, her face breaking out into a warm smile. There was no trace of the usual nervousness in her smile.
“Hi boys,” her voice was a little louder than usual and as she closed her book and stood up, it seemed like she was standing taller.
“Uh, hi. We just wanted to check in on you, we have hardly seen you in ages, Y/N,” Sirius started.
She shrugged, “I’ve just been studying, I want to have a future after Hogwarts you know,” she smirked.
Sirius was so confused; she wasn’t acting like her usual self, “are you okay? You’re not acting at all like yourself,” Remus sounded just as confused as Sirius felt.
“Oh don’t mind them Y/N,” James smirked, “I like you like this, no offense.”
“None taken James,” she winked at him before looking at Remus again, “I’ve grown up quite quickly in the past couple of months, I hated being meek and obedient, it didn’t feel like me,” she strolled over to Remus and kissed his cheek, “thanks for checking on me though,” she smiled at James, ruffling his hair. She hardly spared a glance at Sirius. Remus’ cheeks flushed as he looked at his best friend.
By the look of it, he didn’t understand what was going on any more than Sirius did. James just looked like he was having a great time.

Smokey brand Reviews: True North
The Golden Compass sucks. i saw that wet fart when i was younger, on a whim, and was thoroughly disappointed. Sh*t didn’t make a lick of sense to me. That film was my first introduction to the His Dark Materials and it soured me on the entire franchise. Like most of the movie-going crowd because it flopped like a fat man into a public pool. The thing abut that movie is that it felt like another entry into the Narnia Chronicles, and abhor that franchise. I’ve hated them since i was forced to read them when i was in the third grade. They were terrible, and that was before i become aggressively areligious. Afterward? Bro. Suffice it to say, when the BBC adaption was announced, it was hard pass for me. And then my mom got HBOMax.
I was seeing a ton of ads for season two, a strong focus on Lyra and John Parry. Th more i saw of those Youtube ads, i don’t watch television anymore, the more i became intrigued. Eventually, i bit the bullet and did some research on he show, itself. Yo, i was SO glad i opted to give this thing a chance. The cast was amazing. the principal characters, all some of my favorite actors but, more than that, the plot was mad intriguing. It was so clever and unique and so far removed from Narnia wank, it could be considered anti-Narnia almost. How the f*ck did that movie get so much wrong? Suffice it to say, i gorged on that first season like a fat kid gorges chocolate cake. I finished it last night and these are my impressions.
The Outstanding
First and foremost, i absolutely have to praise Dafne Keen in this, man. She is Lyra Silvertongue, heroine and main character of the entire Dark Materials series. This success of this show rests on the shoulders of the then fourteen year old and she carries that sh*t like a champ. There is a wit and wisdom that Lyra carries which belies her age and Keen taps into that effortlessly. She played Laura Kinney in Logan a few years back, keeping pace with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, so i knew she was skilled in her craft but i never imagined she’s be able to carry such demanding fair, so early in her career. I’d say she was the best thing about this show but that’s not really true. The level of quality in this thing is just that profound.
Ruth Wilson plays Marisa Coulter, Lyra’s mother, and, holy sh*t, is she incredible in the roll. Look, i love Wilson, even when she is in less than quality productions like The Affair. That show was bogus. What wasn’t bogus was her stint as Alice Morgan on Luther. I absolutely fell in love with her on that show and Ms. Coulter gives me all of the Alice vibes, just far more cruel. If Alice was calculating and aloof, the Coulter is deceitfully cruel and i love every second of it. You can tell there is a sadistic streak, straight up wrath, just below the surface and Wilson captures that skin deep veneer in a gently terrifying manner.
James McAvoy comes through and delivers yet again with his detached and insidious Lord Asriel Belacqua. It’s always a pleasure seeing this man do his job and, admittedly, he’s not in this first season much but the time that he is, McAvoy dominates. This is a desperate, desperate, man who knows he is right and will do anything to accomplish his goal. This single-minded drive reminds me so much of Sosuke Aizen from BLEACH and, like Aizen, Lord Asriel literally threw away everything to achieve that goal. It’s wild seeing Professor X go full Magneto and love it!
Line-Manuel Miranda is in this as the snarky Lee Scoresby, Texan Aeronaut, extraordinaire. Look, Manuel is a brilliant artist, i can’t take that away from him. He’s exceptional in Hamilton and on the stage but that’s a completely different skill set. There is a way you have to perform, to project, on stage that doesn’t translate to film and Manuel is still trying to get a handle on that. He’s not terrible in this role, mind you, but he’s just serviceable. However, the chemistry he has with Keen is something special. You can tell they get along strongly and that genuine interactions shines through in their performances together.
The rest of the cast is just as strong, specifically Kit Connor and Joe Tandberg as Pantalaimon and Lorek Brynison, respectively. Ariyon Bakare, Clarke Peters, Anne-Marie Duff, Lucian Msmati, Amir Wilson, Ruta Gedmintas, Will Keen, and Lewin Lloyd all turn in incredibly strong performances, for what they were given. A lot of these characters deserved a bit more screen time, a bit more fleshing out, but i am okay with what we did receive. This ain’t their story, it’s Lyra’s.
I just need to take some time and praise this show for how properly gorgeous it is. I mean, the level of production on this thing is rather profound, you knew that in the opening scene during the flood, but moreso as the world begins to expand. I know a lot of this stuff is filmed on sets and what not but, my goodness, are they elaborate and detailed. That whole arctic run was brilliant. It’s particularly intriguing when you understand how well the CG effects were used in regards to budget. The whole “show don’t tell’ adage definitely comes into effect for this serial and it’s all the better for it.
I am absolutely in love with the narrative, man. Never mind the actual plot in the books, the adaption presented is one of the best I've seen in a long a while. My goodness, the world being built is so enthralling, so captivating, i hate that i slept on this show, this series, for so long. I understand that this is one interpretation of the novel events but I'm still infatuated with every second of it.
The writing in this show is on point, for sure. It feels organic, it feels real. I know this is a series of books, decades old, but that goes a long way to proving the pedigree of this adaption. This doesn’t feel out of place or trite or try hard. It works beautifully, except for when Manuel is delivering dialogue outside of his scenes with Keen, and that is a real joy to watch.
There is a distinct focus on diversity displayed throughout this show so far and i love it. This is a reflection of the world in real time and more, big budget, shows need to show this reality. The difference between this and, say, Disney Star Wars or current Doctor Who, is the fact none of the representation in Materials feels forced. It feels organic, intrinsic to a story about entire worlds. You need this level of diversity for this story to be taken even remotely seriously in the modern day and i commend the production for handling this so well.
The Okay
I’ve never read the books so i can only judge this thing on what i glean from the wiki and what i see in the show. While i am completely smitten with what has been resented, the show feels like an abridged version of what we get in the books. I know for all adaptions that’s true but this feels like a legit highlight real of the greatest hits. I can’t say for sure but the adapted screenplay feels like it’s trying to load up on plot as much as possible, in as short a time as possible. Makes for an interesting view but, as a cat who understands storytelling, it feels like a patchwork of content.
This thing has some pretty brisk pacing. Again, i don’t know from where this first series is adapted but it definitely feels like they were in kind of a hurry to get. I mean, it really doesn’t but once sh*t gets started, it never looks back at all. It feels like that, at certain times, we should have definitely sent more time on an interaction or with a relationship. Lyra’s time in the Magisterial and Bolivar, particularly, seems rushed to me.
It’s uncomfortable how many times they make Dafne get naked. Obviously, they don’t show anything and it’s all inferred but, like, gross.
The Verdict
I loved this show, man. Absolutely adored every second of it. The BBC, when it really wants to, can produce some brilliant film. Luther, Sherlock, War of the Worlds, are all favorites and now His Dark Materials can be confidently added to that list. This show is gorgeous to watch, the production values on full display. Sweeping cinematic vistas both real and composite, permeate this rather cleverly effect heavy adaption. The performances, alone are enough to keep you coming back for more but this is, genuinely, one of the most gorgeous shows I've ever seen. Speaking of performances, everyone is excellent but the anchor is definitely Dafne Keen. Her Lyra Silvertongue is the linchpin of this entire show and she bares that weight brilliantly. I forget sometimes that she’s only fifteen, especially considering the talent she with whom she shares the screen. Ruth Wilson, James McAvoy, and Lin-Manuel Miranda all have capitol roles in this first season and they relish their time on camera, especially Wilson. I’ve been a fan of hers since that brilliant run on Luther as Alice Morgan so seeing her, here, has been giving me the best type of deja vu. His Dark Materials is f*cking outstanding, man. I can gush about this thing ad nauseam but this essay would definitely turn into a novel and no one wants that. If you have HBOMax, definitely give this a go. It’s one of the best shows out, has a full eight hours to binge in season one, and another four, so far, in season two. Sh*t is dope and i highly recommend a proper watch.

Chapter Seven
It was a struggle to even drag myself out of bed the next morning, as the exertion of the past few days left me feeling thoroughly run down. Despite multiple washes and even attempting some treatments, I was convinced that I could still smell smoke in my long locks, and I resorted to tying it up in a high ponytail to at least keep it out of my face.
At this point, I was running low on office appropriate clothing as I hadn’t expected to be away for this long. I dressed in my last suitable outfit of a black shirt, plain white A-line skirt that sat just below my knees and a pair of black kitten heels. Tying a black bow around my ponytail, I quickly applied a natural looking amount of makeup to compensate for the soot covered appearance that the team last saw of me and then finished packing my things to leave.
I made my way down to the reception to check out, hoping that I would have time to grab a cup of tea before I had to meet the team, but at the very first moment that I had completed the relevant paperwork, I was distracted by a familiar sight. Reid seemed as if he had only just noticed me as he jumped to his feet from where he'd been sitting in the foyer and I approached him with a surprised smile.
“Dr. Reid. To what do I owe the pleasure?" I asked warmly, secretly pleased to have the opportunity to see him again.
He was dressed in a shirt and smart trousers, with a heavy cardigan over the top that gave him cute hipster vibes that I was sure he was oblivious to. He seemed troubled, his posture fidgety as he reached me and I worried that something bad might have happened to prompt this visit.
“You-you really don’t have to address me like that, Alice.” He muttered quietly, rubbing the back of his neck in an obvious display of discomfort. “Gideon always makes sure to introduce me as doctor, but it’s not something that I’m worried about.” He clarified, seeming bothered that he’d been presented in a pretentious light and I widened my eyes in surprise.
“Oh, sorry. I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable.” I replied, grimacing slightly as I spoke and he shook his head vigorously, as if I hadn’t done anything wrong. “What would you prefer?” I offered, wanting to ensure that I addressed him in a manner that he was confident with in future and he seemed taken aback by the question.
“Well, you asked me to call you by your first name, so it’s fine if you want to do the same. Or, Reid is fine too.” He answered quietly, forcing himself to meet my eyes for a fond smile and I returned it eagerly.
It seemed foolish, but I was strangely excited by the fact that he felt secure enough to correct me and I noticed a little flutter of butterflies in my stomach that I tried to deny. It would be awfully inconvenient for me to be attracted to him and so I ensured to quickly push any thoughts that were along those lines aside.
“Hotch has the car ready outside for you. He asked me to see if you were ready to go. Morgan’s helping Garcia to get everything packed up at the base, so they’ll meet us at the jet.” He explained, before taking one of my two cases to assist me and I chuckled at his well established manners.
“Thanks, Spencer. That was a struggle getting those downstairs on my own.” I admitted, feeling an extra strong flutter as I said his name and I was sure that I caught a slight flush in his cheeks too.
--⥈--
"What do you think, Sugar? Feel like a high class diva yet?" Penelope chanted as she settled herself in the seat opposite me in an overly dramatic posture and I giggled at her performance.
Admittedly, I'd never travelled on anything as luxurious as a jet before and honestly felt more out of place on board than I had at any previous time in my life. Fortunately, the company was excellent and the down to earth attitude of the team made the entire experience pleasant.
"I feel like the economy class flight home is going to seem especially torturous after this." I commented with a chuckle and Penelope nodded in agreement.
"I love the way you say that. We'd just call it coach." She remarked, flashing me a doting smile and I rolled my eyes at her continued fascination with my accent. “I don't get to come on the jet often, so it's still a novelty to me. I feel like one of those golden era movie stars, you know?” She described, gesturing as if she was fanning herself with some imaginary large feathered fan and I almost snorted in laughter at her.
“You look like one too, baby girl." Morgan crooned as he passed, tapping her on the shoulder fondly and she practically melted under his touch.
It was endlessly comical to me the way that she fawned over him, but I also appreciated the way that Morgan doted on her in return and was pleased that she had someone who treated her with the admiration that she absolutely deserved.
"Flattery will absolutely get you everywhere, you beautiful man." She drawled back, her voice husky and low as she examined him like a tiger stalking its prey and I shook my head in disbelief at her boldness. "You gonna be okay alone?" She asked, glancing back at Morgan immediately, like it hurt her to keep her eyes off him for too long.
"Go ahead. I have plenty to keep me busy." I announced as I pulled out my ereader from my flight bag and Penelope was out of her seat before I had even finished putting my glasses on.
The rest of the team chatted happily in the background as I lost myself in my story, enjoying some downtime for once. I couldn't remember the last time that I’d felt this relaxed and there was a strange sense of belonging that was present for me when in this team's company. Everything felt easier with them at my back, even facing down a burning building and it was unfamiliar to know that if I needed to turn back for help, then they would absolutely be there.
"I wouldn't have profiled you as an ereader kind of girl." Reid's voice remarked, pulling me from the pages and I glanced up to find him studying me with interest as he stood by my seat.
“Ah, you caught me.” I admitted, before slipping open my satchel to reveal a well worn copy of Pride and Prejudice. "I always keep old reliable nearby. Don't tell the others." I whispered, winking at him cheekily and a knowing smile filled his handsome face. "Honestly, nothing will ever replace real books for me. Something about the feeling of paper and the smell of the pages. It's unbeatable. But this allows me to take more of my library with me and I love to have a good selection.”
"Did you know that there is actually a term for that?” Reid began, gesturing with his hands as he fell into a flow. “It's called Bibliosmia, which is a combination of the Greek words for book and smell. The scent of books is caused by the chemical breakdown of compounds within the paper, which explains why older books smell better, as they contain a number of additional chemicals. Most importantly, many older books use Vanillin, which as the name implies gives a sweet scent." Reid lost himself in a ramble of facts, his passion clearly getting the better of him and though he seemed somewhat self conscious about the fact that he had done this, I had to admit that I found his knowledge fascinating.
"Really?" I breathed enthusiastically, hoping to encourage him to feel able to speak freely around me and he looked back up at me in uncertainty. "Well, now that I have a word for it, I can stop feeling like a lunatic, at least." I added, meeting his eyes with a gentle expression and he carefully sunk into the seat opposite me.
"It's actually a lot more common than people realise. You see, it's an extension of the connection between smell and memory. The particular scent of the book triggers a feeling of familiarity that allows you to relive parts of the experience from your first contact with it, instead of simply reading the story again." He explained, his demeanour seemed more relaxed now and I nodded in interest, encouraging him to continue. "A survey actually found that 71% of respondents don’t use eBooks at all and 76% preferred the traditional book. So, your love of the classic paperback is not something to feel weird about at all."
"That's good to know. I can carry my old school love of reading with pride now." I conceded, giving him an appreciative smile and he seemed shocked by my interest in what he had to say.
"What are you reading?" He enquired curiously and it was my turn to be shocked by his consideration.
In my experience, most people struggled to even pretend to care about my habits for an initial question, let alone to actually hold a conversation about it. I’d grown used to feeling like an outsider amongst people my own age and Spencer was a refreshing change of company.
"The String of Pearls." I confessed, pushing my glasses up to try to cover my blush and he raised his brows at me. "After the way that you talked about it at the base, I downloaded it. I thought it would be interesting to know more of the origin of my favourite musical. I'm already kind of agreeing with you, though. Without the additional context of the loss of his family and the continued tyranny of Judge Turpin on the cities most vulnerable, it honestly lacks the impact that the story I know has. It's simply meaningless horror, with little cultural relevance." I blurted, finding myself also becoming lost in words and once I realised that I was babbling, I felt my blush grow stronger.
When I could finally bring myself to peek at Spencer for his reaction, he didn’t seem bored, or lost as I was used to. In stark contrast to regular reactions to my literary passions, he seemed thrilled by my outburst, as if it had made his day. The way that he studied me now was as if he were lost for words and I quickly returned my attention to my reading in embarrassment.
"Do you mind if I sit here to read? You're quieter than the others.” Spencer asked, pulling an old looking book with a Latin title from his bag and I hummed in response.
"Of course I don't mind." I breezed, sneaking a look at him as he fidgeted to get comfortable. "I'm not sure what you're going to do for the rest of the flight, though.” I added, causing him to frown with confusion and I chuckled slightly under my breath. “I'm teasing, hun. I’m sure it won't take you more than ten minutes to finish that.” I elaborated, pointing to the small book in his hand and he smiled coyly at me.
"I'd usually play chess with Gideon." He revealed, gesturing to an inbuilt board at another table and I raised my brows in surprise to find such a fancy feature on a government jet.
"I'm afraid that I’m completely too out of practice to stand a chance against you." I laughed, unwilling to admit that I had always struggled with the game, despite my mothers best efforts to teach me and I certainly wasn't keen to embarrass myself by playing against an actual genius.
"Well, maybe later I can help you to recover some of your skills.” He suggested with sincerity and I was surprised by how little judgement there was in his voice. As always, he caught me off guard with his kindness.
--⥈--
Penelope's office was familiarly warm and welcoming, but even that atmosphere couldn't help me to make any progress with my reports. I massaged my forehead in an effort to engage my brain, but the words escaped me and I was rapidly becoming frustrated with myself. It had already been explained to me that I simply had to recap the events that occurred, but even that seemed to be too difficult of a task for me.
Penelope wandered back into the room to place a cup of tea beside me and glanced down at the blinking cursor on my completely blank document with a grimace.
"Ouch. Still no luck with your paperwork demons?” She questioned, before settling back at her computer comfortably, turning her seat so that she could still smile at me.
“I’ve never written a field report before.” I groaned, reading through the guidance notes that Spencer had given me again, despite having them practically memorised by now. “I don't know how to explain myself. I'm supposed to remain factual, but it's not that simple. There were emotional factors to why I made the decision that I did."
"Well, that’s easy. Just put I recklessly ran into a burning building like a crazy person, even though my friend told me not to.” Penelope commented, sneaking a meaningful look in my direction and I sighed with exhaustion.
"I'm serious, Alice. I'm worried about you. It's clear that you're not sleeping, or taking care of yourself, and now you're taking these completely insane risks. I don’t want to see you get hurt. I mean, even Morgan was super pissed with you for doing that. If you hadn’t looked so sorry for yourself in the ambulance, he would’ve ripped you a new one, let me tell you. The only reason that he hasn’t done so since is because he respects my wishes.” She revealed, her face growing serious as she examined me and I fidgeted in my seat awkwardly. It was hard enough to defend myself in paperwork, but doing so in the face of one of my dearest friends was another level of challenge.
"Come on, Nels. There was a little girl’s life at stake. I couldn’t just stand there and do nothing." I excused, feeling too uncomfortable to meet her eyes and she only seemed more frustrated by my insufficient response.
"The stakes are always high! That's the nature of our jobs. But you can’t just throw your life away for anyone who needs help, Ally! You matter too.” She insisted, placing one of her hands over mine soothingly to confirm that she wasn’t angry with me and when I looked up at her, I could recognise the care in her eyes.
"I’m sorry. I didn't mean to scare you." I conceded, allowing any defensiveness to melt away in the face of her compassion. "I've just been in kind of a rut since I joined Interpol. It feels so strange to be here and able to rely on people, compared to how isolated I feel there. I mean, I've never been face to face with a situation like that before and I couldn't walk away. I guess I've just grown accustomed to having no one give a damn about me. I didn't even consider the consequences.” I admitted, my voice dropping to barely more than a whisper and I heard Penelope take a sharp intake of breath at this confession.
"Oh, baby doll. Why didn't you tell me that it was getting to you so much?" She questioned, her usually bright face overtaken with concern and I felt as if I had rained on her parade by bringing my problems to her.
"I don't know. I'm not sure that I fully realised until I had this team to compare it to. Part of me felt like I got myself into this situation, so it was down to me to survive it." I reflected, feeling shameful that I'd allowed things to reach such a dire point and she seemed heartbroken by my circumstances.
"I promise, when I get back to France, I'll start figuring out what I can do to make things better. I’ll even send you reports on my progress if you want." I clarified, causing her to force a smile, despite the obvious concern that remained in her eyes.
"Well, if you make sure that you deliver on that promise, then I can help you with your little reporting problem. Come on.” She announced, hopping to her feet and pulling me along behind her.
Wherever she was taking me, I was not about to object to any help with my documentation and so I followed her obediently. Most of the team were focused on their own paperwork, as they sat at their individual desks surrounded by stacks of cases and I certainly didn't envy them for this part of their field roles.
We came to a stop right outside of someone’s private office and Penelope proved that there was such a thing as a cheerful knock, as she waited for a response.
"Hey, Jayge! We missed you in California." She called as she entered the space and I stepped inside cautiously, feeling as if I was invading her privacy. "I'm surprised you'd pass up a chance to get that close to that beautiful beach.” Penelope crooned, smiling genuinely at JJ and I could tell that she’d managed to strike up a strong bond with her too.
“Thanks, Garcia. It’s good to know that I was wanted, but there's no need for a press liaison in a case that is strictly off limits to the press and I have plenty to keep me busy here." JJ answered with a warm smile, before turning her attention to me curiously, prompting Penelope to reveal a guilty smile.
"Well, as the paperwork queen of the BAU, I thought you might be able to help Alice with a little reporting problem." Penelope suggested, making her best effort to appear downright adorable in the face of her already overworked colleague and JJ sighed as she turned to address me.
"I heard about what happened at the base. Hotch making you write up your report alone?" JJ enquired and I nodded back bashfully. "Yikes. That's a very parental punishment.”
"I just don't want to get it wrong. I already messed up enough.” I mumbled, feeling even more embarrassed now that I was discussing this with another agent and JJ simply smiled sympathetically at me.
"Sit down. You'll have to take me through what happened one step at a time and I’ll tell you how to word it."
--⥈--
It was an incredible relief when Hotch had signed off my report and confirmed that I was free to leave whenever I was ready. I'd already decided that I would like to spend at least another night in the area before I returned to life at Interpol and JJ advised that she could mark me as required under retainer for another couple of days, ensuring that Shepard would be unable to bully me into coming home immediately. Already, I was incredibly fond of the gracious members of this team and could easily understand why Penelope felt so settled here.
The prospect of saying goodbye to them felt far more daunting this time around and I knew that I would have to concentrate on keeping my emotions in check. Even simply gathering my belongings from Penelope's office gave me a strange sense of sadness.
Just as I finished packing away my laptop, I noticed a polaroid from my last visit of the two of us, which was leaning against a very decorative edition of the Alice in Wonderland book and I turned to Penelope curiously.
"You setting up a little shrine for me here?" I asked teasingly, attempting to mask how touched I actually was by the gesture and she turned her attention to the display with a smile.
"What can I say? This office feels empty without you now.” She stated solemnly, pulling at my already sensitive heart strings. "Originally, I just had the photo, but the book was actually a gift from our dearest Reid. He noticed that I was sad after you left and wanted to cheer me up. He's a good one, I’ll tell you." She divulged, causing my brows to shoot up in surprise and I couldn't contain a fond smile.
"That’s really sweet." I commented softly, glad that Penelope had this team to take care of her in my place. “Come on. Let's get this over with before I burst into tears." l advised, encouraging her out of the office where she rushed ahead of me to prepare the team for my departure.
Just as last time, they all moved from their desks to meet me in the lobby and I felt emotional even considering leaving their friendly faces. I'd even learned to interpret the vague differences in Hotch's similarly stern glares this time and knew that I would miss trying to tell the difference between them.
JJ reached me first, placing her hand on my arm affectionately.
"It's been great to have another chance to see you. Hopefully we can borrow you again soon.” She complimented, seeming genuine in her fondness of me and I smiled in return at her, appreciative for how attentive she always was. Before anyone else got a chance to speak, Penelope pushed past them all to grab me by the shoulders.
"Look, I promised myself that I wasn't gonna cry, but if I wait until last then I’m not going to be able to keep that, so I’m just gonna give you a squeeze.” She paused to pull me into a tight embrace, making me chuckle in surprise. "I’m going to say farewell, my love. And I’m gonna go back to my office to toughen myself up.” She blurted, leaning back to give me a watery smile, before she rushed out of sight. Morgan looked after her with concern, then forced himself to return his attention to me.
"Bring it in, Poppins.” He crooned, holding out his hand and when I took hold of it for a shake, he pulled me into a brief hug. "You did good work here. You know you're welcome back any time. We'll keep a seat free for you." He added, a wide welcoming grin plastered over his face and I felt myself tearing up at his kind words.
Him and JJ exchanged a knowing look, before joining forces to approach Penelope's office and I was glad to know that she had someone around to comfort her once I had gone. Hotch stepped forward to shake my hand in the gap, seizing a chance to speak before things got any more emotional.
“Thank you for your assistance on this case, Alice. We wouldn’t have been able to bring Amanda home safely without you.” He praised me as I accepted the handshake and I was sure that I could recognise a hint of a smile in his expression. "JJ says you're not heading home for another couple of days?"
“That's right, Sir. I have family in the area that I'm well overdue to visit." I reported, wanting to make it clear that I wasn't planning to just hang around the BAU office like a stalker.
"Well, just give me a call if there's anything that I can do to smooth out your return to Interpol." He offered, allowing his kind-hearted nature to show and I couldn't find the words to adequately express my gratitude for his support.
"Enjoy your time off." He added, before parting from me to leave me alone with Spencer, who was the last person still waiting to say goodbye. He stood with his hands in his pockets, smiling at me bashfully.
"It seems strange to say goodbye to you." He admitted, moving to tuck his hair behind his ear nervously. "You fit here.” He clarified and I hummed thoughtfully, glad that he felt this way. He paused with an uncertain expression, before clearing his throat to speak again.
"Actually. If you have a second, I have a parting gift." He muttered, seeming as if he had struggled to decide whether to mention this or not and I raised my brows at him.
“Something you said on the plane." He added as he rushed back to his desk to grab an item from his drawer and shuffled back to me, holding out a book. "It's a classic. If you're interested in brushing up your skills, you may as well learn from the best. I've already got it memorised, so you can keep it.”
I glanced down at the cover to find that he'd given me a pristine copy of Bobby Fischer's My 60 Most Memorable Games and I smiled at the gesture. It was charmingly thoughtful that he wanted to foster my enjoyment in something that he loved and I resolved to use the gift to develop my chess game ready for the next time that we saw each other.
"Thank you, Spencer. That's really kind of you.” I answered, a genuine smile filling my face and he seemed embarrassed by my gratitude. “Next time that I visit we'll have to play.” I added, causing his face to light up with a grin that made my stomach feel fizzy.
"I'd like that."

Outsider by PinkEasterEggs
summary: “You know,” his Dad mused when they were halfway through the bread and the ducks were all swimming around them. “I used to come here during the 5 years when you were … gone.”
Peter didn’t know what to say, he’d half expected his Dad to of brought Morgan.
“I never brought any bread,” Tony sighed. “I just sat on that park bench for hours. I thought about bringing Morgan one year but … i wanted this place to be ours and ours only.”
Peter couldn’t even say how much that meant to him.
“You’ve changed,” Peter admitted. His Dad had created a whole new life for himself, one that Peter wasn’t really sure where he fit. All of his stuff had been thrown out and the Tower was sold.
“I know,” Tony sighed, ducking his head down to kiss Peter’s crown. “But i’ll always be your Dad.“
Peter tries to find his place in the world after the Avengers defeated Thanos. As much as he knows he’s loved, he can’t shake the feelings of being replaced when he comes into a new world where his father is now married and had another child.

The air-conditioning in the truck they’ve rented is broken, and even with the windows rolled down it’s hellishly hot inside. “Really. I could have handled it myself.”
“We wanted to,” Tony replies as he blasts the horn at a minivan with a “Harvard Mom” bumper sticker that is attempting to cut into his lane. “It’s like a little trip down memory lane. It’s nostalgic—it’s gonna be fun. Right, Rhodey?”

chocolate chip cookies (alternate words for i love you) by hopeless_hope
summary: Being a superhero, Tony has come to expect a lot of things. He can’t really afford to be surprised by too much; being flexible is just part of the job. Aliens attacking New York? Sure. People threatening to attack his home? Not uncommon. A teenage spider-kid baking cookies in his kitchen at almost three in the morning?
Completely unexpected.
“You know, kid, when I said you’re welcome to anything in the kitchen, this isn’t quite what I was expecting,” Tony says dryly.

It Hurts to Become by seekrest
summary: “Peter, what is going on with you?”
Tony sees the look in Peter’s eyes – can recognize the hint of something burrowing behind them. A look of someone who is distracted but is desperately trying to focus.
Peter looked exhausted, more than usual. Something’s off with the kid, he’d noticed it but now – watching Peter as it seemingly took all of his attention to focus on Morgan – caused something akin to regret to churn in his stomach.
Something was wrong with Peter.

The Chilling Realities Of Hunting And Being Hunted by Buckets_Of_Stars
summary: All Peter and Tony had to do was cross the mountains. That’s it. Just climb a few hills and get to the Convention. They didn’t count on the snow, or the wind, or the fact that neither of them have cell service.
And they definitely didn’t count on the fact that they would be hunted—stalked—as they sit, freezing and shaking, on the side of the road.

For Pete’s Sake! by KitCat992
summary: Maybe he’d feel better if he closed his eyes, just for a second. It was too dark to see anything clearly anyway, and he’d be able to concentrate better without seeing how fast the ground was coming up to meet him.
A rush of wind sent goosebumps across his skin before two strong hands gripped his shoulders tightly, keeping him upright and from nose-diving straight into the alleyway cement.
Peter snapped his eyes open, blinking a couple times to clear his vision. Everything was blurry. Was that…?
“…ice cream man!?”
pairings: pepperony
tags: hurt/comfort
warnings: none

Note
Yeah Penny was in a couple of episodes and then she disappeared too
Brit Morgan deserves better. I needed her to be related to Alice and Betty. Lol. She and Betty look related IMO. Could have had a whole storyline about Alice’s past via Betty. Could have been cool.
