it’s time for your next phase of life, residents !!
after a year of remarkable service, the woodshore resort will no longer be available as a longterm home. with the official change coming on july 1st, all residents will be expected to vacate their current rooms and move into one of the many lovely, reasonably priced neighborhoods that woodshore has to offer.
there are several options for renters, such as the edge on fourth, a modern apartment building located downtown that boasts its rooftop pool and freshly renovated interior. on the shoreline, there’s the beachfront avenue building, known for every apartment having a balcony area that faces the oceanfront. wave to your neighbors and the ocean at the same time !! a more modest option is park laureate, located east of downtown, with flexible floor plans, a quiet location, and great for families.
of course, for all our lovely students, uw: woodshore dorms is the most affordable option and puts you on campus for your classes !!
interested in buying our own residence ?? then we might suggest lc townhomes for those looking to avoid yard work and still enjoy the benefits of living downtown. if you’re looking for a more traditional house a little outside of downtown, crestwood community is a lovely area that boasts its neighborly atmosphere, and comes with larger plots of land. if you’d like to stay near the ocean, there’s seashell cove, which has homes for all budgets and gets you just along the shoreline. but for those of you who prefer a more private home, arwen properties are the way to go –– enjoy a home up in the woods and mountains, without a neighbor’s home in sight.

in the resort lobby, a bulletin board has appeared. most of it is littered with typical flyers and poster boards: looking for catsitter, help wanted with a diy project, help wanted at the cinemaplex. however, the newest posting, printed out on a neon yellow flyer, is the most eye-catching posting.
HELP WANTED. expert in magic? time travel? quantum physics? seeking out small group to explore an explanation for woodshore and its anomalies.
apply below. drop off at room 911.
the form !
ic form:
name: room number: relevant experience: what do you currently believe is the explanation for woodshore?: do you have any other theories?:
optional ooc additional:
are you interested in participating in a group / rapid-fire thread where the muses discuss this in-character? if so, what platform would you prefer, and what day/times?:
ooc information !
welcome to task 07 !! as always, this is a completely optional task. however, for those who are interested, this will be used to build an in character network of muses trying to figure it out together ( so potentially, easy access for new threads / muses who might not have otherwise known each other! ) what exactly is going on in woodshore. this may also be used to build in the future a potential rapid-fire group thread ( i.e. on something like chatzy or discord ) that includes the muses all discussing and working together on the problem.

with speed and efficiency that might just make the guinness book of world records, the construction of a new road has been finished on the south of downtown woodshore !!
aptly named crossing avenue, the one-lane road runs south and takes you out of woodshore and grays harbor county, down to jefferson county. in order to best accommodate for wildlife and the natural topography of the land, the road is winding. please, please be sure to follow the posted speed limits in order to be safe on the road. two resort guests have already been hospitalized, and local police as saying that it is a result of speeding conditions on a wet road.
there are a few side roads along the route, mostly leading to clearly marked private property. make sure that you have a full tank of gas, as there are very few exits.
ooc information !
as you all know, no one can leave woodshore. therefore, anyone who travels more than twenty minutes down the road is faced with varying consequences...
most people wake up in their room without a recollection as to what happened, with a blinding migraine and a few bruises on their body.
some people have woken up in the woods with no recollection, and various injuries that are certainly inconvenient, but not deadly.
an unfortunate few wake up in the hospital, usually post-op.
if you would like to have your character(s) participate in this, you must message us. the consequences received by your character(s) will be randomly generated !!

RYAN: This week on Buzzfeed Unsolved True Crime, we take a look at the town of Woodshore, Washington, home to one of the nicest resorts in the country.
SHANE: Oh, yay, something pleasant for once.
RYAN: Let me finish–– home to one of the nicest resorts in the country, however, behind the Pacific ocean views, lies a grizzly and surprisingly recent series of murders that have left police stumped.
SHANE: Annnnd there it is.
RYAN: ... Let's get into it.
RYAN: Located off the coast of Washington, Woodshore is a small city home to about 30,000 people. It’s about a two-hour drive from Seattle. Known for its legendary resort that comprises most of the city and its employment, most people would describe the town as idyllic and quiet. However, murky secrets lurk below.
RYAN: On February 4th of this year, Elias Peabody was last seen outside of the Rail Yard Tap, a local bar. For two whole weeks, the police department said nothing about his disappearance, other than there were no leads. But on the morning of February 19th, local newspapers reported that his body had been found, believed to be killed on the 17th. There were no details on the suspect, and no witnesses came forward. No one knows what happened to Mr. Peabody in the two weeks that he went missing.
RYAN: Another thing worth noting about this time is that on the morning of February 9th, local law enforcement found the remains of a mutilated deer carcass on the trail. And while this may sound unrelated at first, it is worth noting that February 8th, the night before, was a full moon. This has led some local residents to believe that it might be–
SHANE: No, no, no, no. Don’t do that. Don’t go looping your other shit into this.
RYAN: Do what? All I’m saying is that there was conveniently a mutilated animal carcass found. By the reports of it, it sounded pretty uh... pretty grotesque.
SHANE: No. That’s just – you know, the circle of life. Animals being animals.
RYAN: Listen, I’m not saying it was a werewolf.
SHANE: Yes, because werewolves aren’t real.
RYAN: I don’t even believe in werewolves! I’m just saying that’s what happened. And you know, uh, most serial killers, they tend to start off with hurting animals.
SHANE: But he already kidnapped the guy.
RYAN: That’s true. It’s just something to make note of. Let’s keep going.
RYAN: Just over a month later, on the morning of March 13th, a jogger found the body of a woman in these same woods. While the jogger initially thought they might be alive, paramedics declared her dead on the scene. According to the polite report, she appeared to have been pulled off the path and dragged, postmortem, before the suspect covered the body with various brush from the area. She was identified by a family member as 31 year old Nora Wentworth, a local elementary school teacher. The coroner’s report determined the cause of death to be asphyxiation and blunt force trauma to the skull. She was dead for thirty-six hours before she was found in the food. Nora was never reported missing, possibly due to the fact that schools happened to be on spring break that week.
RYAN: Well, I’ll give you that one. I don’t think a– uh, a second grader killed her.
SHANE: Also, hold on. She’d been dead thirty-six hours and the jogger who found her thought that she was still alive? What about decomposition?
RYAN: I don’t know, I mean, I didn’t talk to them. They probably didn’t get that close.
SHANE: What about the smell?
RYAN: Maybe they thought it was nature.
SHANE: Nature? No, no. You know what? The jogger did it. Case closed.
RYAN: That’s not how it works, dude. I mean, c’mon. Resort town. These people are probably you know, just going about their business, la di da, not thinking too much about any of it. They probably assumed there was no way they were finding another dead body in Woodshore.
SHANE: But there’d already been one murder!
RYAN: Yeah, well, nowhere’s perfect. I don’t know, dude, but I think if it was the jogger, they’d have found out by now. Finding the body always makes you a prime suspect.
SHANE: Uh-huh. Sure. What are the police doing, anyway? Sitting back, eating some donuts like those small town cops do, hoping there’s not a third?
RYAN: Well, they’re probably hoping that, yeah. That brings me to my next point.
RYAN: The day after the 2nd murder, the head detective on the case, Detective Hannah Zhang, suggested a town curfew and that people not be alone after day. Mayor Combs agreed to this, and the recommendation was published in the newspaper, along with information about the murder. However, after the case, Detective Zhang declined to make any kind of public comment about the case or how it was proceeding.
RYAN: What’s also interesting about this is that, after the first case, the police department reacted similarly. And, more noteworthy, after the animal attack–
SHANE: Not this shit again.
RYAN: Yes. After the animal attack, they sent out advice about how to go in the woods without upsetting wildlife. Isn’t it interesting how they have the same level of response about both events? I mean – now multiple people being murdered, compared to an animal.
SHANE: I mean, listen, you said this was a resort town. Chances are, they just don’t want to talk about it so that they can avoid putting a dent in their reputation. It doesn’t have to be a big deal. That’s just how small towns are.
RYAN: That’s not just how small towns are. That’s shady!
SHANE: It’s not that shady. C’mon, it’s the popo.
RYAN: That’s a terrible excuse. But, unfortunately for this small town, the lack of answers coming from the police department ultimately ended up with more harm.
RYAN: On April 2nd, only two months ago, Woodshore officers responded to a distress call. Upon arrival, the officers found a young adult who was barely responsive and suffering from extensive wounds to the skull and abdomen. Defensive wounds were also visible, according to paramedics. The phone that was used to make the call was later found at the scene. the young adult was declared dead on arrival at the Woodshore hospital and identified by family members as Orion Rubinstein, a twenty-two year old college student, who had last been seen only hours prior in the family’s suite at the resort.
RYAN: Do you want this guy to murder you?
SHANE: I’d like him to try, yes. I think that would make some great footage. Besides, we obviously wouldn’t be filming this episode if he killed me. I’d be doing viral on Twitter. And you uh, you’d probably be... sobbing and trying to contact my ghost.
RYAN: Yeah, I think I would try to contact your ghost.
SHANE: And you would fail. Because ghosts aren’t real.
RYAN: Not true, but I digress. Obviously, we did get a chance to go to Woodshore in the beginning of May, and neither one of us was murdered. But could we have conceivably crossed paths with a murderer? Definitely. Now would be a good time for that montage...
RYAN: It is a beautiful town.
SHANE: Lovely town. Absolutely lovely.
RYAN: Unfortunately, we haven’t quite covered everything sketchy that’s happened in Woodshore in the last year.
SHANE: Wait, really?
RYAN: Really. And uh... you’re really going to hate this one.
SHANE: Oh boy.
RYAN: On the morning of April 22nd, three weeks after the murder of Orion Rubenstein, the most grisly murder yet occurred. The evidence is both shocking yet underwhelming in what it reveals – there were no significant fingerprints or DNA evidence to be found. While authorities have not released this information publicly, an informant from inside the department has revealed that the victim’s cause of death was a wound to the neck and significant blood loss. The wound in question was two distinct punctures, and while the victim was drained of half of his body’s blood, only a few drops were found at the scene.
The victim was the notorious Augustus Gallagher, a forty-one year old loan shark. He had a history of settling lawsuits for fraud and embezzlement, and has been connected to some of Woodshore’s more unsavory characters, including potentially a drug ring. While this connection has never been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt, it raises some serious questions about Mr. Gallagher… and the motives of the Washington Night Stalker.
SHANE: The Washington Night Stalker. Every good serial killer needs a name.
RYAN: So you’re not going to comment on the fact that the victim had two puncture wounds in his neck and was drained of blood? All you care about is the name?
SHANE: Yeah, I mean, it’s a cool name.
RYAN: Uh-huh.
SHANE: And vampires obviously aren’t real.
RYAN: See, I agree with you there. I don’t think they’re real. But, it’s interesting that between Gallagher’s murder, and the whole full moon thing, there’s a little... a little drop of vampires and werewolves in this town.
SHANE: But it doesn’t mean anything because none of that crap is real.
RYAN: Right, right.
SHANE: Well, this is a weird feeling. Four murders this year and the police have got, what? Nothing?
RYAN: Nada.
SHANE: Wow.
RYAN: Yeah. In this case, the police has said so little about the actual case and suspects surrounding it, just that they apparently have significant leads. But, nothing’s actually come from any of this. With four murders under its belt, and maybe something a little more savory going on inside of Woodshore, this resort-style town might not be as idyllic as it appears on the surface.
But for now, this case will remain... Unsolved.

TRADE ROUTES HAVE OPENED !!
after a new deal had been brokered between the empire and local authorities, a few trade routes have reopened to allow travel between planets again. three distinct routes have been opened: tatooine and coruscant, coruscant and naboo, as well a naboo and alderaan.
the reopening of these trade routes will allow for better commerce between planets in the reign of the new empire, as well as travel to return between people again.
in order to take part in these trade routes by acquiring safe passage on a ship, one must have about two day’s worth of credits that they’re willing to pay to their ships captains. there is no guarantee of a place to sleep on other planets – so it is best to have some extra credits, or hope that you might know a familiar face or two...

by: madison duymaz.
in the early hours of this morning, an emergency call was made to authorities regarding what the caller believed to be another victim of a heinous crime. at 8 a.m. authorities announced yet another body in a string of grisly murders that have taken woodshore by storm. when asked about suspects they claim to have “various leads”, so we can only assume they have nothing of significance in the manhunt for this killer. the evidence is both shocking yet underwhelming in what it reveals - there were no significant fingerprints or dna evidence to be found, and while the victim had defensive wounds no sign of the attacker were indicated on his person. while authorities have not released this information publicly, an informant from inside the department has revealed that the victim’s cause of death was a wound to the neck and significant blood loss. the wound in question was two distinct punctures, and while the victim was drained of half of his body’s blood, only a few drops were found at the scene.
the victim was the notorious augustus gallagher, a 41 year old caucasian male who worked as a loan shark in downtown woodshore. he has a history of settling lawsuits for fraud and embezzlement, and has been connected to some of woodshore’s more unsavory characters - specifically the notorious drug lord francisco, the kingpin of our city. while this connection has never been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt, it raises some serious questions about mr. gallagher... and the motives of the washington night stalker.
in light of this string of events, and in lieu of the authorities’ failure to put an end to these killings, we have opened up a hotline for citizens to call in tips they think may be of significance. if you see anything out of the ordinary that could indicate you’re speaking to this deranged killer, let us know at our hotline.

last night’s full moon, also known as the pink supermoon, was the biggest and brightest of the year thus far as the moon is at its closest point to the earth.
be cautious on the shoreline, as meteorologists predict that the full moon will exaggerate the high and low tides. the tides lag behind the moon, so expect this to occur over the course of the next few days. keep an eye on the weather as well, as any large coastal storm could have significant more flooding than usual.
local police reported an unusual surge of noise complaints from residents who live on the side of the resort closest to the forest. although resort staff has said nothing unusual happened on the property last night, they encourage residents to be mindful of their noise levels between dusk and dawn out of respect for their neighbors.

spring has sprung in the little town of shorewood and every building in town has been giving a lovely make-over !! in fact, it might remind some of our world travelers of an old europe, but brighter and softer than usual. though all of the restaurants in town hold names such as diao ke, chez licorne, and the rail yard tap, you’ll find one striking similarity between them all: frozen yogurt !! yes, yes !! we are pleased to announce that every restaurant will now serve a wide variety of meal-replacing frozen yogurt !! but that’s not all –– these froyos, as they are so affectionately called, have more abstract flavors than one could ever think of such as boysenberry, new haircut compliment, bubblegum, coconut, cancelled plans, full cell phone battery, and so many more.
if that weren’t enough, we’re certain you shorewood like to come visit the town square and greet our newest addition: the clam chowder fountain !! though the clam chowder in this fountain looks to be new england style, beware !! once you dip your cup under its creamy depths, your cup of chowder will transform to what kind of chowder suits you best !! please be advised that this may not be your favorite type, but it is still worth a try !!
we hope to see everyone –– with their froyo and chowder –– real soon !!

woodshore authorities investigated a body reported near the footpath through the forest, that is typically used for running and biking, this morning.
the investigation began at 8:37 a.m, after an unresponsive woman was reported in the area between the pines and the firepits. she appeared to have been pulled off the path and dragged, post mortum, before the suspect covered the body with various brush from the area.
paramedics determind the woman dead on the scene. the woman was identified by a family member as nora wentworth, 31, and coroners have determined that she had been dead for 36 hours prior to being found by the jogger.
while an autopsy remains pending, the coroners determined the cause of death to be asyphixiation and blunt force trauma to the skull.
anyone with any information regarding the case or ms. wentworth’s wereabouts for the days prior to her death are asked to call local authorities on the investigation tipline.
the case remains open and the investigation is still ongoing. please heed warnings from local authorities and be aware of local updates.

after a long and fulfilling last day of the mardi gras and maslenitsa festival, everyone in woodshore has returned home to a special surprise inside of their apartment. the resort has taken its time to get to know each and every one of its unique residents, and has used that information to update and redecorate everyone’s apartments to fit their specific style needs.
there may even be an extra gift, tucked away somewhere...
ooc information:
this task gives you the opportunity to design / decorate rooms for your muses. here’s just a couple things to keep in mind...
the rooms are one-bedroom suites, no more than 1000 sq. ft.
the resort knows your muses well so they should be decorated to their taste, however, that doesn’t mean that painful memories may not be dredged up...
optional: similar to a few previous events, muses may receive a small gift from their homeworld! you can include this on the post, or if you prefer, in the discord channel.
this is a primarily visual task, but is open to interpretation as always!!
there’s no due date and the task itself is also optional, although all rooms are updated and personalized regardless of completion of the task!!

happy sunday! as a part of our maslenitsa / mardi gras event, and in the spirit of encouraging inclusivity and new threads, the admins have put together a little surprise for everyone ...
a thread roulette!
beneath the cut, you will find your name alongside a randomly generated partner! if you need any assistance in making sure you know who you’re writing with, check out the ooc list.
over the course of the event, everyone will get one free starter for the roulette. reach out to your partner, pick any muses of your choosing, and go wild! the event gives a perfect opportunity for new muses to interact with each other and do something fun or different. because we want this to be successful for everyone, we ask that you give some priority to these threads in the form of writing at least one reply (on each partner’s end) each week, over the next month. members on hiatus, obviously, are exempt from this while on hiatus.
to facilitate the ease of this, members on hiatus who return during the event have been paired with another based on the return date, and those who are on hiatus till the end of the event or who have all muses on today’s activity have been excluded. if you have any trouble reaching out to your partner, please be sure to let us know so we can fix that up for you. have fun! go wild! enjoy!

some holidays may be location-specific, but seeing as we have a collection of people from all over the world, universe, and… alternate universes? we’ve decided to break down those barriers and bring these celebrations to you !!
we are excited to introduce to woodshore:
maslenitsa & mardi gras !!
while mardi gras is traditionally celebrated for just the one day, we’ll be extending the celebration to coincide with maslenitsa for the full enjoyment of everyone in the city !!
keep reading to find out more...
maslenitsa is a festival traditionally held in russia, and is a celebration of the end of winter and the coming of spring. the festivities vary greatly but are all about community and people coming together –– from the largest snowball fights you’ve ever seen to live music and dancing to trust falls off a high tree stump, it’s impossible to get bored.
the name ‘maslenitsa’ is often incorrectly translated to ‘pancake week’ due to the fact that pancakes are the number one treat during the week. pancakes are the food of choice due to their visual similarity to the sun –– this is a celebration of winter’s end, after all. vendors line the streets and make pancakes all throughout the week. russian pancakes, or blini, are thinner than what you might be familiar with, more similar to a french crepe –– but instead of being cooked with milk, they are cooked with sour cream. don’t let that deter you –– they’ll be the tastiest pancakes you’ve ever eaten. and don’t forget to try the tea brewed in a traditional samovar!
the end of maslenitsa is marked with the symbolic burning of a figure of lady maslenitsa, after which her ashes will be buried in the snow to fertilize the ground for crops. it’s a dramatic welcoming of summer and plenty.
you may wear whatever you’d like, but if you really want to get into the spirit, local shops in town will be carrying traditional russian-style clothing and headdresses.
watch this video to get an idea of the vibe of maslenitsa, or watch this video for more information about it !!
mardi gras is a festival famously celebrated in france, but is important globally. the name ‘mardi gras’ is french for ‘fat tuesday’, the name of which was given because this carnival was meant to be a final celebration of life and to eat and be merry before the start of lent. the celebration in the modern day is large and festive, marked with an abundance of color, music, drink, and food.
mardi gras will be celebrated in woodshore in the style of new orleans, where it is most popular due to its french history. on the streets you’ll find live music playing mostly jazz, street performers and magicians, vendors with games to win prizes, and street food that could rival even your favorite carnival or fair.
on the streets you’ll find people in masks and costumes in a carnival style –– many will be dressed as fairies, animals, or characters from mythology. if you don’t fancy a costume but want to participate, a simple accentuation with feathers, beads, and capes will more than fit the style. all such things will also be available in local shops.
watch this video to get an idea of the vibe of mardi gras, or watch this video for more information about it !!
ooc info!
–– this is an open event, which means your characters have complete free reign with what’s going on and what they’re doing during the event. –– out of character, this event will last from february 23rd through march 4th. in character, it will last february 24th through march 1st. –– during the event, you’re welcome to continue pre-event threads –– you may want to prioritize event threads, so as to keep them moving during the event window. you’re welcome to turn old threads into event threads as well! –– check out this post in regards to a special addition to this event. –– tag all event starters with woodshore: event 06.
