pirates of the caribbean really introduced an eldritch octopus man who kills indiscriminately and torments the dead as their poster villain and then you watch the movies and it's like, "oh no, actually the worst villain in this series is a small white british man who functions as the herald of capitalism" and that was very very brave of them

There are so many parts of my fics where I know people feel that, mostly when I’m torturing them with angst 😂 but sometimes also including dumb stuff to give them a break!

I love when you’re reading a story and you get this sense of “oh the writer enjoyed this”. Like, as a distinct thing from writing that feels self-indulgent on the writer’s part. Sometimes it’s just like… they were having the BEST time writing this and it shows
