Deep deep in our subconscious mind where our memory bank exists ,there among the strange things that form part of our hybrid human mentality the weird and the odd events and experiences lies a world where everything is possible.Where the real and the surreal dance together there we will find our factory of dreams,with many steam valves and regulators ,with pressure gauges that control our stress ,where nightmares go to die,there we will find our favorite fantasies and fairy tales,yes,our childhood memories,our first collages and vignettes of our individuality, there past the corridor to our adventures we will find Alice in Wonderland. Still exploring the many magic doors and strange creatures that inhabit that story.Those archetypes and magical abilities we knew and believed as children.A world of beings that explored our psyche and left some of us a bit traumatized,hahaha! Yes, a movie that my generation still loves and inspired many youngsters to read about the supernatural and the stories that were written in Ireland and Britain and other northern countries ,their mythologies and personally a love for shamanic rituals as a way to leave this world and through meditation and drumming enter a trance that for many of us was a natural experience that was part of growing up,when radio tales and books were the only way spark our imagination.Who can forget those tales were children grew up to love scary stories,unlike modern parents grew overprotective and full of censorship,claiming to protect children’s mind ,while not allowing them to express their own feelings and emotions and forgetting about how they parents allow them to roam the woods and play with mud and fire and listen to their grandparents tell them tales of ghosts and witches .Those days are long gone and have been replaced by kids without childhood memories, kids that were never taught to be kids in the full sense of the word. Well, that’s all folks. Disney found her when he went looking for someone with a child's voice for the lead role in his animated movie "Alice in Wonderland." "Basically, I was sort of right under his nose," Beaumont, who had worked on a Disney TV episode for the year before, recalls with a laugh. "Walt Disney was looking for a voice that would be pleasing to American ears and British ears, something that wouldn't be too American for the British or too British for the Americans. And oddly enough we were already out here." What's more, she knew the whole story of Alice, as well as Peter Pan. "Just from being British in the first place," she says, "Those are the things you tend to read as a child." So she was cast in both movies. And off she went each day to Disney Studios, getting her schooling in the three Rs as well as in songs about never growing up and imaginary Wonderlands, and in fighting off hungry crocodiles and comically evil pirates. But after "Alice" and "Peter Pan" came out in 1953, Kathryn Beaumont grew up. After making two of the biggest animated movies of all time, she left Hollywood and never went back. "I just went into another career," she says matter-of-factly. "I was just very young when I did these roles, so I went back to school and I had other ideas of things I wanted to do." She went into teaching generations of second-graders the animation experiences she had as a child.
