CECILY: I don’t think you will require neckties. Uncle Jack is sending you to Australia. ALGERNON: Australia! I’d sooner die. CECILY: Well, he said at dinner on Wednesday night, that you would have to choose between this world, the next world, and Australia. ALGERNON: Oh, well! The accounts I have received of Australia and the next world, are not particularly encouraging. This world is good enough for me, cousin Cecily. CECILY: Yes, but are you good enough for it? ALGERNON: I’m afraid I’m not that. That is why I want you to reform me. You might make that your mission, if you don’t mind, cousin Cecily. CECILY: I’m afraid I’ve no time, this afternoon. ALGERNON: Well, would you mind my reforming myself this afternoon? CECILY: It is rather Quixotic of you. But I think you should try. ALGERNON: I will. I feel better already.
This is the epitome of romance to me… What do you mean you only met this girl because you borrowed your brother’s mask? What do you mean you had ulterior motives, but upon seeing her fell head over heels for her instantly?? What do you mean you’re going to reform yourself for her in one afternoon???
BUT IT GETS BETTER:
ALGERNON: Oh, I don’t care about Jack. I don’t care for anybody in the whole world but you. I love you, Cecily. You will marry me, won’t you? CECILY: You silly boy! Of course. Why, we have been engaged for the last three months. ALGERNON: For the last three months? CECILY: Yes, it will be exactly three months on Thursday. ALGERNON: But how did we become engaged? CECILY: Well, ever since dear Uncle Jack first confessed to us that he had a younger brother who was very wicked and bad, you of course have formed the chief topic of conversation between myself and Miss Prism. And of course a man who is much talked about is always very attractive. One feels there must be something in him, after all. I daresay it was foolish of me, but I fell in love with you, Ernest. ALGERNON: Darling! And when was the engagement actually settled? CECILY: On the 14th of February last. Worn out by your entire ignorance of my existence, I determined to end the matter one way or the other, and after a long struggle with myself I accepted you under this dear old tree here. The next day I bought this little ring in your name, and this is the little bangle with the true lover’s knot I promised you always to wear. ALGERNON: Did I give you this? It’s very pretty, isn’t it? CECILY: Yes, you’ve wonderfully good taste, Ernest. It’s the excuse I’ve always given for your leading such a bad life. And this is the box in which I keep all your dear letters. ALGERNON: My letters! But, my own sweet Cecily, I have never written you any letters. CECILY: You need hardly remind me of that, Ernest. I remember only too well that I was forced to write your letters for you. I wrote always three times a week, and sometimes oftener. ALGERNON: Oh, do let me read them, Cecily?
What do you mean she crafted this perfect unattainable passionate romance character that no one can ever live up to???? What do you mean you immediately said “Bet, I'll start studying right away”?????

made this cuz, just in the midst of my current excitement of seeing “The Importance of Being Earnest” (starring Ncuti Gatwa as Algernon “Algy” Moncrieff) for the first time in a few weeks time, I found out (online by accident lol) that Paul McGann was in a 1989 BBC television production of TIoBE!!
(Paul McGann played Jack Worthing in said 1989 BBC tv production of TIoBE btw)
Tumblr media

OOC POST: THE BIG MOVE – FOLLOW OUR NEW BLOG! 🚀✨
Hey everyone! It’s Hettie here (along with Eddie! 👋), and we’ve got some big news!
After a lot of thinking (and a very chaotic but exciting brainstorming session), we’ve officially decided to merge all of Ncuti’s characters into one RP blog! 🎭💫 That means instead of juggling multiple accounts, we’re bringing them all together into one ultimate Ncuti multiverse RP experience!
So, what does this mean?
➡️In 5 days, our separate RP blogs for each of Ncuti’s characters will be deactivated and moved over to our new shared blog! If you want to keep interacting with these characters (and let’s be honest, why wouldn’t you? 😉), make sure to follow the new account!
➡️Hettie’s RP blog for Ncuti himself will still be running and won’t be part of the move! So if you’re following that one, don’t worry -- it’s not going anywhere!
➡️This new blog is gonna be chaotic, dramatic, stylish, and full of absolute nonsense, and we can’t wait to bring all of these characters into one space!
So if you love what we do, go follow the new blog now! 💖🎉
🚀 @ncuti-muses 🚀
We’ll see you there! 💫✨

"Heacanons for my [primary synpaths] that are just me projecting:
Janus has to take antihistamines so that the boundaries between his scales and skin don't itch. It usually doesn't work anyways. Roman is lactose intolerant (that's canon) and high-key doesn't care, with the exception that he won't drink dairy milk Logan is a low-key linguistics buff Aaron Burr has social anxiety. He hates parties and gets panicky before important meetings Jaskier will hold on to a bit of conversation that he wanted to get in but didn't have the chance to even if the rest of the group has long since changed the topic Algernon Moncrieff really has no interest in his extended family but doesn't particularly mind their company when they do visit"

My interpretation of Algernon from The Importance of Being Earnest, hands down my favorite character in the whole play. (I can't decide on their gender, but neither can they lol)

For Algernon, do you have any top tips/advice on how you should eat a muffin calmly?
Tumblr media
Ah, an excellent question! You see, the secret to eating a muffin calmly is rather simple: one must absolutely refuse to acknowledge that there is any reason to be anything but calm in the first place. A muffin is a sacred object, a thing of beauty, and to consume it with anything less than the utmost composure would be a crime against pleasure itself.
First, one must ensure that the muffin is of the highest quality -- preferably still warm, with the perfect balance of fluffiness and golden crust. A subpar muffin will inevitably result in agitation, which is entirely unacceptable.
Second, take small, deliberate bites. There is no need to rush. A rushed muffin is a wasted muffin, and frankly, I find that offensive. Allow the flavours to settle on the tongue; let the moment stretch into eternity.
Third, if one finds oneself in a distressing situation -- say, an impending social disaster or, heaven forbid, Aunt Augusta’s presence -- double down on the muffin consumption. The key to maintaining one's serenity is to increase one’s dedication to the muffin, rather than allowing external forces to dictate one’s emotional state. In essence, let the muffin consume you as much as you consume it.
Lastly, if anyone dares question your method of eating, simply raise an eyebrow, take another bite, and ignore them entirely. A true connoisseur of muffins answers to no one.
And there you have it -- muffin mastery in its purest form.
