Swap Alexander! (please read)
Tumblr media
Okay so this is gonna be REALLY WILD but basically Alexander Enfield is a CODZ oc I have and with thay i've made many AU's with him and I thought it would be cool to take all these different alternative versions of him and turn it into a Story! (uncreatively named the Enfield-verse since well, I honestly don't know what else to call it, maybe i'll change the name in future.) So now I finally decided to make refs for each of his alternative counterparts as I plan on maybe turning it into a comic (if time between college lets me!!!) So this is Alexander from the swap universe where he's swapped with his husband Opa/Adrian Wald! (Who is a headmate of @weird-person-935 btw, they're all really cool and you should TOTALLY go check out his art). I'm happy to answer any questions about this, but honestly this is a little passion thing that i'm REALLY excited to share and gradually i'll post the others references here, thank you for reading!

I published a novel!!
Tumblr media
Loosely inspired by one of my TUA fanfictions, this is a contemporary drama with a hint of sci-fi and historical fiction, and big themes of mental health, drug addiction, and relationship issues
If you like books about gays and psychologically-accurate portrayals of mental health, why not give this a read?
Alexander Enfield is your average fellow who hates digging in the 1855 Australian Ballarat goldmines to provide for his soon-to-be family. When a man apparently from 2023 turns up, desperate for something called ‘crystal meth’, all of Alexander’s world views are shattered. He can’t get the man out of his head. Then he accidentally time travels to 2022, and things get a lot more complicated.
Alexander is autistic, biromantic, and asexual (which he's unaware of, being a guy from 1855). His love interest, Josh, is an unlabelled queer man with BPD, ADHD, and a meth/heroin addiction
I love history, I love psychology, I love linguistics, and I love making characters suffer, so I stuffed it all into this novel <3
get it here (Australian marketplace):
or from the US marketplace:
(also in other marketplaces, just look up 'Cracking Crystals by Beri Opie' on Amazon)

The Windsors
Tumblr media
Synopsis: The Windsors tells the story of the British royal family but re-imagined as a soap opera. Although the stories are completely fictional, they are inspired by real events.
Discovered this show over the weekend and binged the first 3 seasons. And it's fucking stupid... but I kinda love it.
I think I might be obsessing over the British royal family. Nah... It's not like I'm constantly thinking of Charles, Andrew and Edward, dedicating blogs to them. That honor goes to Jon Tester.
Anyway, speaking of the Windsor boys. Lets see who was casted to play them.
Harry Enfield as Prince (later King) Charles
Tumblr media
Errr... he vaguely resemble His Masjesty.
Tumblr media
Oh... I can work with him.
Tim Wallers as Prince Andrew
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mmm.... dare I say upgrade?
Matthew Cottle as Prince Edward
Tumblr media
No resemblance here. But definitely an upgrade.
Tumblr media
Although, if they ever do a show about King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands. He'd be perfect.

Dearest Oliver
By Apollotheconure
Dearest Oliver, November 6, 1886
The news which I have for you is far worse than tragic. Our dear Audrey has been trampled upon by a wicked, horrid old man. By seeing him I would say he is of a deformity. Audrey was off running down the street in front of Alexander and I. It was of a dark hour in the morning, as it has been. She and I were walking Alexander to the dock, where he has been going to apprentice with Mr. Captain Danvers. When we arrived at a cross street, Audrey ran very hard to pass it. She did not see that old wicked man, whom I later had understood to be named Mr. Hyde, and she and him knocked into each other. Instead of doing anything else, he trampled over her like she was just part of the street! She was screaming out in pain. We quickly hurried over and were near her, and Hyde was taken away by a man (who is named Enfield). Alexander continued to the dock, because without you here we need a way to earn money, while I brought Audrey to the hospital, where I write this. The doctor has yet to find the severity, but he says it is quite terrible. I hope you are not in such a bad condition as her also, and I wish for you to be home soon. Please write me back as quickly as possible, Oliver.
With love and hope,
Eleanor
My Dear Eleanor, November 9, 1886
This is terrible news, just as you said. I find myself wishing every day I could be there with you and Audrey, and of course Alexander. As for myself, my condition is not very bad, do not worry. In fact, I believe I am going on a turn of good health, and I believe that I am to be dismissed soon by the doctors. I am glad to hear that Alexander is working with Danvers, as he is a fit mentor for him. The hospital I am at is alright enough, although I do not speak a large amount of French so I am mostly unable to speak with the other patients, and I wonder about my doctor’s ability to accurately assess my situation at times. Any way, I hope that the hospital Audrey is at is working better for her than mine is for me. Please give my prayers to her and yours to me, Eleanor, and I may soon be able to give prayers to her on my own behalf.
With much love,
Oliver
Dearest Oliver, November 13, 1886
I have more bad news. Audrey is not recovering, in fact she is doing worse. Dr. Stevens says she has multiple broken ribs, and her lung is collapsed. She says she misses you, and I do as well. I am positively glad to hear that you are doing better, and I hope that the same may be said for Audrey soon. Mr. Enfield, the man who I told you about, was able to collect money from Hyde for us, and Alexander works very hard as is to be expected from him. So yes, Audrey’s hospital is nice enough. I have included two pounds in this letter, which should be plenty to help. I give my prayers to you, Oliver. I am excited to see you again soon. We all are.
With love,
Eleanor
My Dear Eleanor, November 20, 1886
I am truly sorry for what I am about to say, but before I do, I would like to thank you for the money that you included in your letter. Now, unfortunately, I will share my unsettling news. My doctor, whom I've found increasingly stubborn, insists on my unfitness for release, a statement agreed with, bizarrely, by all treating me. This unanimous agreement among the doctors and nurses brings a worry in me, giving me the idea that they must have motives I do not fully understand. Their claim of my worsening condition, which they say among each other might border on mental instability, give me the feeling that they wish to keep me here for a gain of some kind. Should rumors of my insanity reach you, I urge you to question their validity. Despite their assertions, I remain confident in my lucidity and health, and I shall be home soon.
Oliver
Oh, Dearest Oliver, November 23, 1886
The things you say give me great worry. Not for the supposed things they say, but for the distress this shows in your soul. The idea that you, with no one but I to speak with and at that only through letters, are filled with thoughts of mistrust at the people who only wish to help, fills me with great sadness. If there are any doubts about the state of your condition, I beg that you think not toward mistrust, but toward the notion that these people are here to help.  I wish you to be truthful with me and yourself, Oliver, for if I do not know your state and you do not know it yourself, I am to be in a cloud of false hope and you in a cloud of false misjudgement. That is not something I wish for.
As for Audrey, she is in very bad health. Her injuries are not getting better. Dr. Stephens says she has pneumonia, given way to by her collapsed lung. Her ribs are also in poor condition, as they are healing back in a twisted manner. She misses you very much, as do I. Alexander says he is indifferent, though I am sure he does as well. Please get better, and please tell me the true state of your condition. Please, my love, share with me the untainted truth of your condition and experience, for if I am to receive hope, the only way I would want it is if it were true.
Love,
Eleanor
My Dear Eleanor, November 26, 1886
Forgive me, my love, for I after I had done some thinking upon what you said to me, I have realized that you are right. I suppose in a way I found comfort in believing that I was better than I am, and the way my mind chose to go about this was to put mistrust on the doctors. I have done as you asked, and decided to be honest with myself and you, as I see how my lack of honesty must bring you distress. My condition is not well. I am doing very badly. I have not eaten much, for I do not have the appetite to do so. My head is in pain. My chest is in pain. I am always coughing. I am not well at all. I wish I could be there for you, for Audrey, there is not a moment I wish such, but I cannot. Nonetheless, I believe I will get better. Do not fear for me, do not cry for me, because I will come home. You have my word.
With much love,
Oliver
Dearest Oliver, November 30, 1886
The letter you have sent has given me great sorrow, though I will have it if it means I get to know your truth. It gives me great pain to hear how you are suffering, sickness forced upon you with no reason to show. Yet, although your words bear me pain, I still see your strength I have always loved you for. "Do not fear for me, do not cry for me," fills my mind when my world grows quiet, and it brings me great joy for I know you are strong enough to come back from this, as you always have before. Through this do I find the ability to hope, the ability to hold onto the promise of your return. Audrey's condition is so much the same as yours, and her mind filled with the wish to see you once more. Alexander, in his own silent way, is continuing well at his job, and I believe he thinks that the more often he is away from home, the less he has to miss how it used to be. Our home is not the same without you, Oliver, and we all miss you more than ever. Yet, per your request, I will not fear for you, I will not cry for you. We find the hope we need by receiving your letters every time they come, for if letters come, so shall you soon.
Love,
Eleanor
Dearest Oliver, December 6, 1886
O, it is hard to write without tears. There is no way for me to say these words in a soft way, yet I must say them to you: Our dear Audrey has passed on. I do not know how I can continue! It has been so hard in a way that is utterly impossible to describe. How shall I wake up every morning, knowing our darling daughter is not here? How can I eat? How can I sleep? O, there is not a thing I can do now without the sound of her voice in my mind! How I miss her so. When she and I went to the market, or when she would ask me or you to play with her, or when she said she wanted a little sister. She would make such a wondrous big sister. Alexander is in pain, I can see it. He tries so hard to hide it, but even he cannot. I see his eyes, and they are so full of sorrow. I try for him to talk to me, but he does not. I understand that this may make you unwell, but I believe you would wish to know, even in your state. We need you, Oliver. Now more than ever. You have said do not fear for you, do not cry for you, but it is hard. We hold on hope that you will come, for God cannot be cruel as this to take you as well. I urge you to write back as soon as you receive this, for we must stay in contact more than we ever have, for all of our health.
With what hope I have left,
Eleanor
Dearest Oliver, December 13, 1886
I send this letter because I have not received one from you. I have waited much time for you to write, and that you have not. This makes me worried. If, like I thought, you need time to take in what tragedy has happened, I understand it, however I wish that you would send a brief letter that says so if that is the case. I have tried to keep steady, for my own sake and Alexander’s, though it is difficult. I have checked the post office each day but to no avail. I do hope that a letter from you did not get lost. Please do respond, for this lack of such is very unlike you. I need a letter. Alexander does not talk to me anymore. You are all I have. Even if just one word, I will take it over silence.
With great love and hope,
Eleanor
Dearest Oliver, December 22, 1886
Each day that passes without word from you weighs strongly upon my heart and soul. The silence is deafening, and with each silent morning, my worry for you deepens, getting ever closer to kill the last thin strands of hope that keep me sane. The emptiness left by your absence is clearer every day, and I find myself in the midst of a deep and powerful fear, a fear that gets stronger with each letter I do not receive. Alexander's silence shows a similarity to my own despair. It is impossible to tell that he is the same boy who once laughed and played in those times that are now long past, his eyes reflecting a pain he does not want to show. In the quiet moments, which are many with no person to talk to, I find myself falling into memories of better times, when Audrey was with us; when you were here. These memories bring me great comfort until I come back out of them and my fear and sorrow are renewed once again. Yet, while this sorrow and fear continues within my heart and mind, I hold onto the hope that you shall respond, that there is a reason for this lack of word. “Do not fear for you, do not cry for you,” you tell me. And I would like to say I will, and I shall try. I will keep my mind on hope, and not fear.  Oliver, if you do receive these letters, I beg that you reply. Know that we need you now more than ever. Your voice, though just in writing, would be an infinitely welcome end to this worrying absence of such.  Please, my love, give us a sign that you are still here, even if just one word. Just one would be enough to quell all of the fear you say I should not feel. I, like always, continue to love you unwaveringly, hoping and waiting for the day you come home.
For the sake of our past, our love, and all that we hold dear, I will continue to wait, to hope, and to pray for you to respond.
With all the love and hope that remains within me,
Eleanor

TAFT RHINOS END REGULAR SEASON WITH 4-0 SHUTOUT OF HOTCHKISS
Tumblr media
By: Gerry Cantlon, Howlings WATERTOWN, CT - Taft Rhinos goaltender Rudy Giumond (Pointe-Claire, QC) was solid between the pipes with a 35-save shutout, ending the prep school regular season with a 19-8-1 record in a 4-0 win over the Hotchkiss (Lakeville, CT) Bearcats before a packed house on Seniors Day at Odden Arena. The Rhinos battled to make the New England Prep playoffs with five other schools. They wound up with the Large Division home playoff date on Wednesday. They are the #1 seed and play at the Odden Arena at 4:45 pm against #8 seed Kent School. Guimond played like a brick wall shutting down the Bearcats on quality chances and limiting them to one-and-done chances by the CSB-ranked netminder. Guimond came out of his crease and cut angles down repeatedly. At 3:15 of the first period, Guimond turned aside Derek Tremblay (Boischatel, QC), then turned away scoring bids by Dylan Ah Now (Short Hills, NJ) and Big James Mackay (Villanova, PA) on the left wing, Jake Owens (Chittenano, NY), and D Nate Harrison (New Canaan). After a scoreless first frame, Taft tallied the first goal at 1:13 when Zave Greene converted on a two-on-one break. Late in the second, Taft's Ken Alexander (Watertown) had a solid chance, and Guimond stopped Hotchkiss' Michael Buenzow (Evanston, IL). Hotchkiss goalie Grant Kloeber (Raleigh, NC) stopped Greene, Remy Reynolds, and Aidan Foley (Southport) before they eventually scored. Hidy Preston tallied before Jackson Holl was on the left wing and converted a one-timer at 8:49 and at 12:03. Lemieux closed out the Taft scoring from the right wing. NOTES: Guimond is undecided if he will return to Taft next year. It will likely hinge on whether he gets drafted. He is currently #16 among North American goalies. Both the USHL and NAHL are options, or if he is selected in June's QMJHL Draft as a Quebec native, he won't count as a North American import are possibilities. Other Connecticut schools still in play include the Open Large Division perennial postseason contender #3 Avon Old Farms Winged Beavers. They will be hosting #7 Westminster Prep of Simsbury at 2:45. #5 Brunswick School of Greenwich takes on MA-based #4 Noble Greenough at 4:30 at Noble. In the large division, along with Taft, are the #2 Salisbury Crimson Knights, who will host #7 Loomis Chaffe of Windsor at 4 pm. In small school action, #3 Frederick Gunn School of Washington, Connecticut, hosts #6 Tilton School of New Hampshire at 5:30 at Deerfield Academy in Enfield. All games are on Wednesday. The winners will play in the semifinals on Saturday at the school of the higher seed. The championship finals will be held Sunday at NCAA Division III Sullivan Arena on the campus of St. Anselm College in Manchester, NH. Matt Chennette, Taft Class '84 living in MA, an Iraq war vet, is battling ALS. Donations are being made to help the family defray medical costs. TAFT SCHOOL HOCKEY HOME Read the full article

Dr Henry Jekyll (Alexander Hamilton parody)
Hyde: How does a gentleman, scientist, inclined by his nature to industry, Whose worst fault was a certain innate gaiety That he found hard to reconcile with his desire to carry his head high among the others Grow up to be a madman and a killer? Lanyon: The strange case, so iconic and well known Got a lot farther by working all by himself By bein’ a lot smarter By bein’ a lot crazier By fifty, they all trusted and never suspected of him Utterson: And every day while people were not believing in Harry Even his friend, poor Lanyon, who tried to warn him But still, he was chasing his own, insane vision The brother was ready to buy, brew, drink and transform Enfield: Then a monster he became and devastation reigned Our man saw his future split, splitting in two ways Put a pencil to his temple, connected it to his brain And he signed that damned cheque, a testament to his pain Hyde: Well the word got around, they said, “this Edward is perverse, man!” Trampled a small girl because she was in his way, damn “You gotta be more careful, or they'll find out who you are! and The world’s gonna know your name! What’s your name, man?" Jekyll: Dr Henry Jekyll My name is Dr Henry Jekyll And there’s a plot twist coming up for y'all But just you wait, just you wait

Keats' generation was familiar enough with the polished literary translations of John Dryden and Alexander Pope, which gave Homer an urbane gloss similar to Virgil, but expressed in blank verse or heroic couplets. Chapman's vigorous and earthy paraphrase (1616) was put before Keats by Charles Cowden Clarke, a friend from his days as a pupil at a boarding school in Enfield Town. They sat up together till daylight to read it: "Keats shouting with delight as some passage of especial energy struck his imagination. At ten o'clock the next morning, Mr. Clarke found the sonnet on his breakfast-table." The poem was first published in The Examiner on 1 December 1816.
