They kiss, and Alex can’t help but think about how happy he would be to stay here the rest of the night doing just this. The slow slide of their lips and tongues, teeth nipping, is almost too much, yet Alex isn’t sure it could ever be enough. He finds himself in Buck’s lap, with Buck’s hand cradling the side of his face as if he’s something precious, and it makes him want to say fuck it and skip the rest of the evening. If he hadn’t drug Buck all the way out here for this, he would be considering it a bit more seriously, but he knows they need to be there. He also really wants to show off Buck and how fucking good he looks. Alex pulls back. He needs to find something to do that isn’t kissing Buck if he plans to make it through the night. “I really want to keep kissing you.” “You can,” Buck says with a laugh, leaning back toward Alex’s lips. Alex leans back further, laughing. “No, we have to be at the dinner. If I stay here kissing you, the only place we will be is back in my room.”

Alex, admittedly, was confused.

He thought he was getting a pretty good handle on prison camp life, but some things—crucial things—still eluded him. Every day since he had been dragged to Stalag Luft III he had been limping around the compound with a leg wound that still wouldn’t heal from when he was shot down, the spiking pain warring with the insatiable urge to keep walking, like if he stopped he would actually be here. If he stopped he would collapse. Since the first shards of flak struck his Mustang his mind and body could not stop moving, racing, calculating, for any shred of information or hint of survival, so he spent his days limping and shaking, gritting his teeth. Categorizing and repeating everything he had learned, examining from every angle.

The guards were predictable once you knew what to look for.

The routine of prisoner-of-war life was lousy but survivable with certain strategies.

The others in his assigned barracks took some warming up to the newcomers, and though Alex couldn’t say he had them all figured out for certain, he could read them well enough to decide they weren’t a threat.

Egan and Cleven weren’t gonna survive the winter.

yo kiddies, it's here!!! my first firstfire fic (other than that lil one yesterday on here lolz)

Alex is nervous, it’s the first time Buck will be here at the White House, and it’s, of course, a fucking state dinner as Alex’s plus one. But schedules are complicated to arrange, which means this is also their hard launch as a couple—really, the whole idea is making him wanna hurl. Buck’s meeting everyone before it, so he’ll not have to meet them during it, which is somewhat calming for both of them. Alex helped him pick out the perfect outfit and recommended a stylist to help him figure out what to do when he was floundering. Right now, the stylist is in one of the guest rooms with Buck putting on the finishing touches, and Alex is pacing his room. He was kicked out of the room earlier. Buck said he wanted to surprise him with how well he cleans up. He, of course, told him he didn’t need him cleaned up—he likes him dirtied up much better, and all he got was a kiss and a swat on his ass as he was sent on his way. - or it's a firstfire fic and these boys are both sweet as frak - so ya know ya wanna read it lolz

i know i post about ships all the time and i love that a lot, i love engaging in fandoms in many ways and shipping is obviously one of them and i like headcanons even if they don't always align with my ships, but i like romance and i can't help it. one thing i will say tho is that, in spite of all that, my real absolute favorite trope in all storytelling is actually found family. Nothing can ever be as good as that, especially when the characters involved happen to be queer, i just love it so much. there's something so validating about the idea that we can find each other, form those deep connections and have countless adventures together.
