June 20, 2023
I have to do this fast. I have to leave in about half an hour for work.
My mind is so scattered. Yesterday was a damn joke. I went to the gym thinking I would just see Nancy. As I get to the door I see one of the guys I was talking to, my gym crush from way back when. I go to the change room, come out and the only rack availably is the one beside him.
We talk a bit and he offers me liquid chalk. I take it and ask how his vacation was. I was a tad petty. He looked confused at first and then realized bumble. He apologized for not recognizing me. We talked some more in between sets and he then also apologized for not replying to me. I didn’t even let him explain I just said it was fine. We continued to joke around after that. Before I assumed he was going to leave I also went up to him and thanked him. Hoping he would say anything, but nope. He left it at “you’re welcome”. While we were talking in between sets he was saying how he liked having people around to motivate him. He motivated me to max out and he also went heavier. We’ll see if he noticed I’m not on bumble anymore.
I then go talk to Nancy and look up and Alex is staring at me. I walk over that way to get weights and he takes his earbuds out to talk to me. Cool. We chat he walks towards where I am working out and uses the bench there. He comes up to me between sets and talks to me. Cool. We workout in the same area for a while. I go upstairs and do cardio. He eventually comes upstairs. I stretch. I can’t see him when I am leaving so I text him. He says he’s crying in the corner. I find him to say bye, I don’t want to just leave and be rude and then its awkward.
He ends up starting to walk out with me and tells me to hold on because he needs a drink of water. He walks me to my car. We talk for like 10-15 minutes. In that time he tells me I should have gone to the taste of Italy because there were all the woodbridge guys there. wtf. He also brags about how his friends are great because they do everything together. I mentioned my friends don’t love going out and doing things and how I have tried to make new friends and I used Nancy as an example of how I am happy to make new friends. Eventually he said he was hungry so I told him he should go home and eat. He said bye by saying he would see me around and then correcting that he wouldn’t because he was going away. I said I was also leaving so that wouldn’t help and then we realized he gets back Sunday and I leave Friday so we would see one another. I told him that I still wanted to do that chest day he promised and I was holding him to it. He said I need to wait for his rotation and was kinda putting it off somy aggressive ass said “You’re making excuses” and just kept yelling “excuses at him”. He is full of them. Im just mad at the way he made me feel and the way he looks at me is so frustrating.
I saw Matteo last night too. We caught up and I told him about the guys at the gym and also about Braeden. His point of view was that any guy I date I need to be friends with for a year first and then date. I get being friends first and taking it slow. No guy is going to be friends for a year. I don’t really get the logic behind it. I can figure out what I need to figure out about someone and date them at the same time. I heard twice yesterday that I move too fast. I don’t know how to slow down. I get excited and just want to give my energy to that person and figure it out. I feel bad about being distracted from Braeden yesterday. I ended up calling him on my way home and it was nice, even on my way home from Matteos and we talked for 2 hours.
I kinda mentioned my frustration with my conversation with Matteo and how he says I move to fast and I am kinda clingy and want too much too quickly. He said he likes the pace I am going and kinda mentioned not moving too fast or getting mad about not answering. I said I don’t get mad when he doesn’t answer, I can wait.
I don’t know, Works been okay. We have a gold tournament today so I need to get ready to go there. I need to write more..so hopefully I make the time.

Australian Open 2023 | Novak Djokovic hamstring injury, Todd Woodbridge doubts severity
Todd Woodbridge has cast doubt over the seriousness of Novak Djokovic’s hamstring injury ahead of his blockbuster Monday night clash with Alex de Minaur. Let’s talk about the name “Alex”
There are three different characters named Alex in BBC Sherlock: Alex Woodbridge from TGG, the Alex who was a member of A.G.R.A, and Alex Garrideb from TFP.
The name comes up three times, so this is not a coincidence; the writers are trying to tell us something. All of the Alex characters are mirrors for Sherlock. Specifically, they are mirrors for how Moriarty tortures him with the quest to “burn the heart” out of Sherlock.
Some meta below the cut.
(Note: this relies on M theory’s ideas that Mary works for Moriarty, Mycroft is under Moriarty’s thumb, Moriarty is still alive in some sense, and Moriarty’s territory is Eastern Europe.)
The first Alex we meet is in TGG: Alex Woodbridge. He was killed by Moriarty’s assassin for being obsessed with space/the solar system and being right about the Veneer painting conspiracy. Who else do we know that was killed by Moriarty’s assassin?
Oh right, Sherlock!
Alex Woodbridge was obsessed with the solar system. We know that in this episode, the solar system = sentiment. This mirror foreshadows that Sherlock will ultimately become obsessed with space = sentiment, and he will be targeted by Moriarty for it. And, lo and behold, at the end of the episode, Moriarty tells Sherlock he will burn the heart out of him.
Beautiful, isn’t it?
Then, in The Six Thatchers, we find out that another Alex was a member of A.G.R.A. He was tortured to death after the Tbilisi incident. How do we know this?
Ajay, a strong John mirror, is tortured by the sound of Alex’s back breaking. This is a clear callback to John seeing Sherlock jump off the hospital roof in TRF. When Ajay says “he was tortured to death,” it cuts to Sherlock. Moriarty tortured Sherlock to fake death, leaving John bitter and traumatized. In TEH, we see Sherlock was also physically tortured when he was fake-dead.
In T6T, the name Alex, the fact that the incident takes place in Tbilisi, Moriarty’s Eastern Europe turf, and Mary’s involvement clue us into the idea that Moriarty is behind the Tbilisi incident (I think it’s very possible that Mycroft is involved, as well. We know that he oversaw A.G.R.A., and that he is under Moriarty’s thumb).
AND Ajay tells us that Alex was tortured for “nothing but fun.” Moriarty tortured Sherlock for the same reason. He just loves to watch Sherlock dance! It’s so funny that Sherlock has feelings! And it caused John a lot of pain. John’s reaction to Ajay’s story about Alex being tortured tells us everything:
The last Alex is Alex Garrideb in The Final Problem. In this scene, there is even a direct mirroring of Mycroft as Nathan Garrideb (the one who wears glasses), Sherlock as Alex Garrideb, and John as Howard Garrideb (the drunk).
Not subtle!
We learn a few things about Alex from Sherlock and Mycroft’s deductions. Underneath each point I’ve interpreted what I take them to mean about Sherlock.
Habitually wears glasses
In ACD canon, A Study in Scarlet was the first fictional story ever to incorporate the iconic magnifying glass. Sherlock “habitually wears glasses,” which I take to mean he is used to putting on the analytical, detective persona, in BBC Sherlock but also in other adaptations throughout history. Not to mention, Mycroft is mirrored as Nathan Garrideb, who always wears glasses.
Has a frown line, meaning he’s used to a lifetime of “peering”
I take “peering” to mean Sherlock deducing/analyzing/being logical, and it’s caused frown lines- he’s forced it upon himself.
Is short-sighted (or he was) but he’s had laser surgery
Laser surgery = Sherlock realized he cares about people. He no longer needs to put on the “glasses” persona. More specifically, he cares about John; he loves him. No longer short-sighted = he wants a future with John, and a future in general. He cares about living. In TLD, this is a strong theme. Before Culverton tries to kill him, he says, emotionally, “I don’t want to die.”
Makes an effort with his clothes
to which John says: “that’s very good.” Confirmation that John likes the way Sherlock dresses *insert side smirk emoji*
Sherlock is making an effort for John, in multiple ways.
But quite literally, Sherlock does make an effort with his clothes
Suddenly he sees himself in quite a different light
Sherlock’s acknowledgement of his feelings has totally rocked his world.
But he is not used to his routine and his grooming is superficial
Sherlock is not used to caring so much.
His outward appearance is “superficial”, and may not reflect how he feels inside. Sherlock is trying (and failing) to hide his feelings for John.
I personally subscribe to the theory that TFP is in John’s mind palace/is his fever dream after being shot (by Moriarty, but that’s beside the point), so I interpret all of these deductions to be John’s thinking. But, I also enjoy the idea that Sherlock is putting himself in John’s shoes, and creating John’s mind palace in his own mind palace. But any way you look at this episode and this season, the Alex mirror is strong!
We find out that Alex Garrideb is the murderer, and Euros (who is a Moriarty mirror) asks Sherlock to condemn him. “Condemn him in the knowledge of what will happen to the man you name.” Sherlock condemning Alex Garrideb out loud = professing his love for John. Sherlock knows the consequences could be disastrous, but he has to say it to land the plane!
When Sherlock condemns Alex Garrideb, Euros/Moriarty kills the OTHER TWO. Moriarty was always going to kill Mycroft, and now that Sherlock has condemned himself (professed his love), John has to die, too. Moriarty definitely can’t have him hanging around after that- Sherlock is all his! But then, Euros/Moriarty kills Alex/Sherlock, too. Sherlock is too gone on feelings now to ever be of any use to Moriarty.
Tagging some people who always have great stuff to say (& if you want me to remove your tag, no worries)!

All established by Very Clever People:
In The Great Game, Sherlock dresses as the gallery attendant, Alex Woodbridge, murdered by the Golem. Disguises are a self portrait.
Gallery attendant = Sherlock
Sherlock insists that he knows nothing about the stars, but he still appreciates the night sky.
During the fight with the Golem, the projector paints John with stars.
The beautiful starry night sky = John
Because everything is about sex
Telescopes = penises
And we all vividly recollect from ASIB naked Sherlock in The White Sheet
Now
Remember that time John was investigating Alex’s bedroom and pulled the white sheet from the telescope pointed at the stars? It now reads : John investigated Sherlock’s bedroom and pulled the white sheet from his naked body sporting a massive erection because he was gazing adoringly John.

CONDUCTOR OF THE UNIVERSE
________________________________________________________________
This post is part of another one - of ‘Love, actually …?’ from Feb.14th 2019. Only recently I noticed that I’ve overlooked one of the elderly ladies in Sherlock BBC. And a rather important one too, I guess. Therefore I decided to do an OUTTAKE for this one because it grew more lenghy than I first thought it would. But I will also incluce it into the original post for the sake of completeness.
Love isn’t always blind
Another elderly lady who plays a very interesting part in the story is professor Cairns. She isn’t among the hostages in TGG, but nonetheless she is a victim in the ‘Lost Vermeer’ case of the same episode and she shares the fate of the blind old lady, the hostage in the Prince’s case … the case immediately prior to this one.
More under the cut ….
Professor Cairns works in a planetarium and she possesses a profound knowledge about the universe. Alex Woodbridge consults her in the case of the ‘Lost Vermeer’ painting, which he suspects to be a fake. Professor Cairns confirms his assumption and sends a message to the phone in his flat:
Alex? Love, it’s Professor Cairns. Listen, you were right. You were bloody right!
Alex Woodbridge and professor Cairns know how to prove that the ‘Lost Vermeer’ painting is a fake. They know that a certain supernova exploded later -and not as early as portrayed on the painting. Because of that both are murdered by the Golem, an international assassin, who suffocates his victims. And Sherlock has to find this little detail to prove that the ‘Lost Vermeer’ is a fake and to save the fourth hostage, the little kid, just a voice on the phone, who is never seen on screen.
Presumed this lady is also an ambassador/a representative of LOVE …. how to explain her on a metaphorical level?
Professor Cairns is busily engaged in the planetarium, preparing a film for future visitors and while that scene plays out, three celestial bodies are mentioned … in this order:
Jupiter, the fifth planet in the solar system, the largest one, a gas giant
Gas can be associated with air, just as Jupiter (Zeus) in Roman and Greek mythology, who is most commonly known as god of the sky and supreme ruler of all the other deities
Titan, the largest moon (of Saturn)
A titan is a great one in every way. In Greek mythology giants were ruling the Earth in the Golden Age prior to the Olympians. A great man, someone who stands out in size or power or for greatness of achievement, can also be called a titan
Neptune, the eighth planet and farthest from the Sun. Professor Cairns is searching for him in the scene
Watched through a telescope or strong binoculars, Neptune appears as a small blue disk. In Roman and Greek mythologie Neptune (Poseidon) is very well known as the god of the sea and of fresh water, often wielding a trident.
It seems that professor Cairns finds Neptune, the missing planet, the very same moment she gets attacked by the Golem. The blue celestial body behind Sherlock (next to John) looks at any rate very much like Neptune.
All in all, that’s two planets …
one connected to air, the sky and rulership
the other one to water and the colour blue
Between them a moon has been placed … a titan, a great one. Sherlock’s close connection to the moon is a main theme of the story, just as Mary’s, which makes sense if she represents Sherlock’s facade and by that an aspect of Sherlock himself. The journey from a great to a good man is also theme of the story … as is Sherlock’s physical appearance in some scenes (’You look taller in your photographs’ ASIB - ‘Not as tall a people think’ TSOT) … and first names like Max (the great) and Claudette (the lame) or Magnussen (son of the great).
air & water
high & deep
being hit by the blast of an explosion & drowning in water
cockpit & well
intellect & emotion
the one & the ohter one
Jupiter and Neptune
... and Sherlock, the Titan, between them. That’s a concept that seems to be mirrored especially in TFP ... not least with Sherlock confronted to choose between Mycroft/Jupiter and John/Neptune.
Love orchestrates the universe
Professor Cairns stands at the mixing desk of a planetarium. She is in charge of the visuals, of the narrative and of the music to accompany the show she creates to teach people about the ways of the universe. She knows about stars and planets, moons and suns, about their history …. about the times when they exploded into supernovas. And she finds them when they get lost somewhere in the void. The universe is rarely lazy ...
Presenting LOVE as conductor of the universe, as someone who can zoom into the most distant places, someone who knows about life and death of whole worlds …. that’s fantastic, lovely and very romantic.
The ‘Lost Vermeer’ scenario ends with the same result as the one from the Prince’s case prior. Both times Sherlock imagines an old lady - the blind one and the all-seeing one - murdered by Jim Moriarty, respectively someohne who is closely connected to him. Blind LOVE and all-seeing LOVE, both die in this single episode ... most importantly, professor Cairns is attacked and dies the very moment she finds Neptune, the missing planet … and (to say it again) Sherlock reacts accordingly … in another scenario that ends on Bart’s roof … to save LOVE from being killed by SEX.

I have a fairly busy week ahead. First up, tomorrow evening I'll be performing for happy hour at The Spot at Belmont Bay in my good ol' home town of Woodbridge, VA! 5:00pm-7:00pm!

im sure it is, since both are OC's, and we know names are important. Aren't they both established as sherlock mirrors, too? Woodbridge certainly is, and pretty sure bainbridge also, as the "test subject" for sholto.
River=Threshold
@sagestreet just posted a Black Sails meta about a painting of a river standing in for a River as a Threshold between the ordinary outside world, and the special world on the other side, and rivers as a trope in queer cinema, also separating the ordinary world from the world of free love. Of course this makes me think of Sherlock, and how many times the Thames, in particular, has figured in the episodes. It’s been a while, and I only watched S4 once, but isn’t it in TLD that Sherlock sits beside the river with Faith, and also has a kind of breakdown on the bridge right over the river. I don’t remember if it’s at the end of TST or TLD that he’s walking over the river on a bridge with the lines about when are we locked onto a certain path, etc.
But also, in general, Baker St, Barts, NSY, Buckingham Palace, Belgravia, Whitehall, Big Ben, even Soho, and many more of the show’s settings are north of the river, but Battersea Power Station and that pivotal scene with Irene=Sherlock’s libido, is south of the river, and close to it. They all had to cross the river to have that scene.
I don’t know London geography well enough to say if, for instance, Alex Woodbridge’s corpse was on the north or south bank, or where various other places shown are. Maybe others can chip in with that, and other more well-formed ideas.
@sagestreet, @ebaeschnbliah, @possiblyimbiassed, @gosherlocked, @freethemfrom1895, @spenglernot, @watchthemfall, not sure who else to tag off the top of my head. @raggedyblue

SO I MIGHT HAVE FIGURED SOMETHING OUT...
So, it's been established that Alexandra is an interpreter but can't hear Sylvain, they don't make contact, it's not because Sylvain is dead or just gone, it's because Alex is the interpreter not for Sylvain but The Quell.
Aubrey has been speaking to Magic since she found out they're an actual thing and not just something she's imagining. "Hey Magic? It's me, Aubrey."
And when trying to save Deputy Dewey Aubrey finds herself being helped by someone Griffin describes as "looking like your sister, if you had one."
Magic isn't just Magic, Magic is Sylvain, and Aubrey when speaking to Magic is interpreting.
Aubrey at one point hears Alexandra's thoughts and even sees Alex's memory, the reason for that is The Quell and Sylvain are intertwined, celestial soulmates if you will, so it's very easy for their interpreters to interpret each other.
But how can a human be the interpreter for Sylvain? Well, Aubrey isn't, not really. Aubrey shouldn't be able to use her magic now that Sylvain is closed off, but she still can and it's still pretty strong if just her and Janelle could fix Thacker.
Even Mama doesn't know what Aubrey is, Vincent doesn't either, no one does.
So let me explain what I think it is, we know humans came over and sylphs have left, I think at some point one of Aubrey's ancestors reproduced with a sylph, and generations later Aubrey just so happened to be born with a little bit more magic in her veins as she'd been able to do things like control fire all throughout her younger years.
Another thing worth noting is Aubrey's eyes, they're both bright orange now and when Vincent and Woodbridge and all of the guards see that they're surprised and kind of scared. Pieces of the crystal were taken before, a lot of them, surely if transferring energy and eyes turning the color of the crystal was a human thing someone but especially council members would know about it.
So yeah Aubrey and Alexandra are both interpreters for Sylvain and The Quell respectively and they're going to team up and save the day babey.

Why Eurus saves Alex Garrideb
In Eurus’ second game with our main characters Sherlock has to solve a murder or the three suspects will die.
Someone has killed a man named Evan. Evan is Welsh and is derived from Iefan, a form of the name John. So, Evan = John. (X)
Who killed John Watson? In the romantic subtext the killed part is about falling in love with someone as @loudest-subtext-in-tv taught me. Well, who does John Watson love, then? Who made him fall in love with them? (PS who made me? I made me. Sounds like someone taking responsibility for falling in love with someone.)
Let’s see, it’s someone named Alex. Like Alex Woodbridge, a Sherlock mirror from TGG. His knowledge of astronomy, aka feelings, gets him killed, leaving behind a grieving friend who insists they were just, ‘sharing’, (a flat but also their lives). The grieving friend is a clear mirror for John, with the bisexual plaid shirt. When John goes to meet her in Alex’s room, he’s literally reflected in the mirror just to drive this point home.
Now, here comes another, ‘great game’, ‘the final problem’, even, and we see that Alex killed Evan. Evan is in love with Alex. AKA John is in love with Sherlock.
Sherlock makes this deduction, thinking it would save the innocent and condemn the guilty but instead *twist* she saves the wrong guy! In the surface narrative she’s just being a classic, cruel, nihilistic villain but in the romantic subtext she’s saving Sherlock. Or rather Sherlock is saving himself; this realisation is saving him.
Sherlock realising that John loves him saves him.
Eures represents Sherlock and John’s feelings. At this juncture they both see that they only way to be saved is through each other. “Mary”, keeps saying this, ‘save John Watson, save him’. Here we see Sherlock saving himself, too. By realising the, ‘emotional context’, once and for all.
