Transformers X Mech Pilot AU
Author notes: (Wowza I didn’t expect such a positive reaction to my nonsense! Here is a blurb to test the waters. See what y’all think! Let me know if you want more. 👀)
TW: (needle mentioned briefly, mention of alcohol to describe a feeling, reader cusses a little bit.)
Blinking the sleep from your eyes, you only half hear the blaring alarm. You stare at the ceiling for moment, trying to get your brain to wake up enough to process the announcement over the loudspeaker.
“Decepticon activity coordinates delta seven, bearing nine. Threat level Magenta. Pilot SERAPHIM to the launch bay.”
The words repeated as the red overhead lights flashed. No one could sleep through this, you thought as you rolled out of your cot. Feet hitting the cold floor you let your training take over. Autopilot was the only way to operate on days like this. Despite not being out late or having anything to drink the night before, you felt hungover and woozy. The Energon micro-infusions you and the other pilots received must be to blame. Donning your pilot gear and clicking your mask into place you finally start to feel whole again. Being outside of your mech felt like hell. Exposed like a nerve and vulnerable. Feeling so small, you shake your head trying to figure out how you ever lived without that soul connection to your machinery.
You grab your communicator, linking it to your headset and running out the door. Hallways bustled and noise reverberated through the massive metal building as soldiers and Autobots alike made their way around the base. You dodged around giant peds, apologizing when you almost knock right into Hound. The bot putting up his hands and giving a startled whoa as you bolt towards the hangar doors. This was home. The metallic smell of oil and energon hit you as you ran up the ramp to your mech. She was beautiful. Orange and teal accents over ivory plating. The wing and eye insignia on her shoulder alongside tally marks of all the victories you had won. Her optics offline and her lines hooked up to refuel, she looked lifeless. An empty machine.
You smiled remembering the first time you had met a Cybertronian. They were appalled to learn that the mechs they fought alongside weren’t Cybertronian, but were in fact piloted by humans. The bots now compared you to a spark within your mech, your consciousness becoming that of the metal behemoth you piloted. You yelled a greeting to your launch officer as he walked through the protocols and commands before helping you into the chest of your mech. Settling yourself into the gel seat made just for you, you feel the sting of the needle inserted into the back of your neck. Your eyes roll back and the familiar sensation of falling tugs at your limbs. The micro amounts of energon in your bloodstream prickle as your nerves switch to feeling cold.
Optics coming online and flickering as your consciousness links up with your mech. Your servos twitch, testing your movement slowly via the launch officer’s commands. Rolling your shoulders as the energy lines disconnect and the link is complete. The HUD is always a bit disorienting, vitals and stats crowding your vision as it adjusts. The tiny body your consciousness left is nestled snug in your chest. You reach for your weapon where it was leaned, charging next to the bay. A familiar voice to your right makes you turn.
“Ready there Sera?” Your vocal apparatus crackles to life as you reply.
“Had to get my bearings Bee. Consciousness transfer never gets easier.” Energy thrums through your lines and you feel whole once more. You worked alongside the Bumblebee as a fellow scout. Your mech being a lighter class helped with the stealth aspect of intelligence gathering. Most of the other pilots were male, making you one of the few female pilots to survive the initial testing. You felt proud of your accomplishments since the war for energon began.
“What is our mark.” You ask following the yellow bot out onto the launchpad. A ground bridge was already open and humming ominously. He had an alt mode but you didn’t, your mech not able to transform. Using a ground bridge was the only way to get your mech anywhere far away fast. It wasn’t your favorite way of travel, personally you favored the jump jets your mech was equipped with. Something about soaring through the sky was the most liberating feeling you had ever experienced.
“We’ve got a high level threat. At least three cons attacked one of our mines in Australia. I heard Shockwave had some dangerous experiment. We’ve gotta do some reconnaissance before we go take it back.” He smirked before shoving at your shoulder making you stumble a bit. “Try to keep up this time.” You smile at him as he disappears into the swirling light. Something about this mission seemed off. Everyone seemed a little too stoic for this to be a routine take back. Shrugging off the seed of doubt you lift your ion cannon and mount it to your shoulder. Calibrating your weapons and getting ready for whatever fresh hell awaited you.

(Fine, I’ll do it my damn self: part 1 of my silly lil mlm stories <3)
Gay Awakening (Chapter One) — smitten! mattheo riddle x male! reader

TWs: tobacco & alcohol use, internalized homophobia, homophobic slurs (once)
hella ooc mattheo. congrats, ur his gay awakening, and he’s an absolutely smitten lil gay mess for you but yk he’s trying
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
“Hey, dude. Who’s that?” Theodore asked, bumping Mattheo’s arm to get his attention, then pointing his fork in your direction. You were sitting at the very end of the table’s bench, wearing an oversized black muggle hoodie with your green tie loose and haphazardly slung around your neck. You were animatedly talking with, out of all people, a Hufflepuff. The Hufflepuff girl sitting at the Slytherin table either seemed to be completely unaware of the looks she was receiving, or she was steadfastly ignoring them. Your laugh cut through the room, the Hufflepuff cracking up with you.
“American transfer students,” Malfoy sneered. “They clearly don’t know the rules yet.”
“Oh, shut up, Draco,” Pansy rolled her eyes, resting her chin on her hand and looking at the Hufflepuff for a moment too long.
Draco scoffed, clearly offended. “Whatever. They’re probably faggots anyway.”
Pansy whirled around with a furious expression. Mattheo himself flinched slightly at the slur, which caused Blaise to look at him questioningly. Once Mattheo had waved Blaise’s unspoken question off, Zabini shrugged, leaning over and muttering in his ear, “Ten galleons says she brings up Potter.”
“-and everyone knows that you have a crush on Harry Motherfucking Potter, so maybe you should take your bigotry and shove it right up your-”
“Pansy?” you questioned, awkwardly standing across from her. “Here, ‘m supposed t’ give this to you.”
You leaned across the table to drop a folded up note in front of her, allowing Mattheo to catch a faint whiff of your cologne. You looked back down at the floor shyly, hurrying back to your spot at the end of the table.
“He’s hot,” Theo shrugged, taking a bite of his toast. “I call dibs.”
“You can’t call dibs on the guy who just asked Pansy out, dipshit.”
“Actually, it’s a note from the ‘puff,” Pansy interjected, twisting her wrist around to show off the neat cursive written in a purple glitter gel pen. “She wants to go to Hogsmeade with me this weekend, dipshit.”
“Yeah, dipshit,” Mattheo teased Theodore. “Plus, I think Malfoy already called dibs on him, so tough luck.”
Theo blew a raspberry at him, only a slight distraction from where Mattheo’s comment had fueled another Pansy-rant and left Draco sinking low in his seat as if he wanted to disappear.
~~~
“Alright, Zabini, you’re up. What classic novel is a satirical adaptation of R. M. Ballantyne’s The Coral Island?”
“Why the fuck would I know that, Berkshire?”
“Blaise forfeits! Sudden death round is down to just us, Riddle,” Theo crowed excitedly, watching as the score quill of the charmed muggle trivia game scratched Blaise’s name off of the paper score sheet, drawing a condescending frowny face next to it.
Enzo laughed, flipping over the little hourglass timer. “If anyone can answer in the next thirty seconds, they automatically win the game.”
“No idea,” Mattheo shrugged. Theodore spun his rings around on his fingers before shrugging too.
“The Lord of the Flies,” your quiet voice pipes up. The game players all look over in your direction from where you’ve just entered the common room—coming back from the library, it looked like, if the stack of books in your hands explained anything.
“What?” Draco asked, raising an eyebrow and sneering.
“The Lord of the Flies,” you repeated. “William Golding. Fantastic book.”
Malfoy huffed. “And who are you, exactly?”
“Y/n L/n,” you introduced yourself, nodding politely in their direction before wordlessly disappearing up the dorm room stairs.
Mattheo stared after you alongside his friends, none of them immediately noticing the charmed quill writing your name down on the score card as the winner.
~~~
“C’n I bum a smoke?” your sleepy voice called softly from behind Mattheo. He turned around from his spot on the otherwise unoccupied balcony to see you rubbing your eyes, a fuzzy green blanket draped around your shoulders. He cleared his throat and nodded, fishing a fresh cigarette out of the pack and holding it out to you. His heart rate stuttered for a moment when your fingers brushed against his.
“Thanks,” you muttered, using a wandless incantation to light it. Mattheo leaned back against the railing, taking a drag from his half-finished cigarette and blowing the smoke out thoughtfully.
“Why’re you up? It’s a little late for that, don’t you think?”
Maybe it was his well-meaning-but-patronizing phrasing or the confidence-imbued late night cigarette, but you clicked your tongue once and said in a short, clipped tone, “Oh, shut the fuck up, you hypocrite.”
Mattheo barked out a surprised laugh, choking on his lungful of smoke and falling into a coughing fit.
“Language, L/n,” he teased.
“English, Riddle,” you snickered back.
He grinned at you, blushing a nice pink color as you both smoked in a comfortable silence for a moment.
“My roommate brought some girl back from the party he went to,” you say after a while. “Didn’t want to deal with all that.”
“Ah,” Mattheo nodded slowly. “Boys seem to lose all of their brain cells as soon as they come within a ten-foot radius of a hot girl.”
You snort. “Not all of us.”
“Yeah?” he questioned, in a way he hoped came off as nonchalant, even though he was internally freaking out. “No lucky lady piquing your interest?”
“This may shock you, but believe it or not, I’m not actually into girls at all,” you snort again, dropping the cigarette butt and grinding it into the ground with the toe of your sneaker.
“Really?” he asked in a high voice before loudly clearing his throat. “I mean- really? That’s cool. Uh, m-me too.”
“Yeah?” you glanced up at him curiously. “Huh. I wouldn’t’a guessed.”
“Can I kiss you, Y/n?” Mattheo blurted out, immediately snapping his mouth shut and mentally facepalming.
“Sure,” you shrugged.
“Huh?”
“I said sure.”
The poor boy was frozen in place, gaping at you. Taking pity on him, you made the first move—tugging on his tie to pull him down to your level.
His hand found the back of your neck, gripping it while kissing you softly—much more gently than you would’ve expected.
When you broke apart, he looked like he’d just been enlightened. Like he might've actually shouted eureka! and run off.
“Holy shit,” he breathed. “I’ve never kissed a guy before- holy shit.” He laughs freely, cupping your face to kiss you again.
“So what now, Archimedes?” At his confused expression you elaborated, “Muggle reference, sorry.”
He nodded slowly, his fingers automatically winding their way into the hair at the nape of your neck. “Well… you could sleep with me tonight,” he offered after a moment. “Y’know, so you don’t have to deal with your roommate.”
“Oh, um, I’m not really that type of guy, Mattheo…” you trailed off.
“Oh!” His eyes widened in panic. “I didn’t mean to imply- I mean, not that I wouldn’t love- I meant we could just literally sleep in the same bed!”
You giggled, a bit relieved. “I’d like that.”
He took a deep breath, smiling hesitantly at you. “No funny business, promise. All at your discretion.”
He held out his hand to you, and you took it immediately, leaning into his side.
“So about that fight between Malfoy and Pansy…”

Hey, what pens do you use to draw? And do you start with a pencil sketch before you start using the pen or do you jump right into using ink?
Hey! I use all kinds of pens actually: gel pens and fountain pens most often. I've written about my favorite gel pens some time ago, btw. Recently I've started using oil-based ballpoint pens a lot though, both for sketching and doing cleaner line art. It's a bit tricky, because they don't work well with alcohol-based markers, but I think I'm starting to get used to it. I love how the lines they produce look softer, similar to pencils, so it's very easy to do a colorful lineart with smooth gradation.
Normally I do a rough sketch of the basic shapes with a light colored marker or oil/gel pen, rarely pencil. I don't like using pencils at all tbh, so I try to avoid it as much as possible. If it's something complex and I'm not sure I can handle this w/o lots of erasing, I prefer doing a rough sketch either on a separate piece of paper with a pen or digitally, and then transfer it into the sketchbook/other paper through light table. I hope someday I'll be able to jump right into drawing with ink and not regretting every single line I do, but it's a loooong way to go from now 😅
For fun, here are some sketches/lines I have left done with different mediums: 1 is colored pencils + fountain pen, 2 - markers + gel pen, 3 - oil-based ballpoint pens.

Dick Grayson x GN!Reader

Summary: Your boyfriend rushes to your side as he learns that you're in the hospital for a family member. Germaphobia sucks.
Warnings: Hospital, Germaphobia, injured loved one.
This was written whilst I sat inside of a hospital emergency/waiting room...I fucking hate germs.
~☆~
This was your Hell. In the middle of a sickening hospital waiting room. Sitting down in the blue chairs that can only be contaminated with God knows what. You could feel the germs sitting on your sweaty hands, transferring onto whatever you touched. You resisted the urge to get up and leave, the feeling of the cloth chair sitting against your pants becoming too much. It was almost 11PM you could only dread the thought of who had sat here during the day, and the last time the seats were cleaned.
You wanted to cry with every breath you took. You were in such a hurry to get in there that you completely forgot to pick up a mask. Your chest hurt just at the thought of breathing in something from someone else, though barely anybody was in the room with you.
The vibrations of your phone ringing brought you out of your thoughts.
"Richard (penis) Grayson" The caller ID identified. Weird...he should be on patrol..
"Hello?"
"Hey, where are you?" He asked.
"Hospital, Nana fell again.." You voidantly told him about your great-grandmother, who had also just suffered from a fall about five months ago, resulting in a broken hip.
"Again?"
"Mhm."
"What hospital? I'll bring you some things." He said. You told him what hospital and mumbled out a low "thank you." then the two of you said your goodbyes.
×
It wasn't much longer before he got to the hospital, walking in and immediately sitting in the seat next to you.
"Alright, how is she?" He asked, welcoming you as you layed your head on his shoulder.
"Couple of cuts, broken tail bone, and we're waiting on another CT scan." You informed. "They're gonna keep her because of her blood pressure, just like last time."
"How are you?" He questioned.
"I'm okay, I know she'll be fine." You sighed.
"I'm talking about the germs." He stated, holding your head in his hands so that he could look into your eyes.
"Oh.. I don't know." You mumbled.
"Do you need to step out?" He whispered, eyebrows crinkling together at the thought of your discomfort.
"I don't know.."You confessed.
He looked at you for a few seconds before rising to his feet and grabbing your hand. "Let's go."
"Well, be right back." He smiled at your grandparents before leading you to outside.
"Here, I have some of your hand sanitizer." He whispered, already taking the travel sized bottle from his pocket and opening it. You immediately put up both of your hands, waiting for the welcoming feeling of alcohol washing away some of your worries. He put some of the clear gel in your hands and waited for you to rub it in before doing the same to his hands.
"Why aren't you working?" You asked. Normally, you would've called it patrol, but being out in the open made you keep it vague.
"I stopped by the apartment to see you, and you were gone." He smiled. "You're more important than that stuff."
"Thank you.." You shyly whispered out.
"Of course, I love you."
"I love you too."
~☆~
Fun-ish fact: My grandmother got a call that we needed to be here whilst we were watching "The Batman"(2022)

It's very low risk to others tbh. Like, don't go seeing out the "intense contact" unless the other person wants to ig? But still.
Here, have the results of a pub med study:
"Results: After 8 h approximately 60% of testosterone applied to the skin could be recovered. When the skin had been previously washed with water, only about 14% of applied testosterone could be recovered. After intense skin contact with a volunteer who had applied testosterone before on his forearm, no increase in testosterone serum levels could be found in NETE-suppressed men.
Conclusion: Although considerable amounts of testosterone remain on the intact skin for several hours after evaporation of the alcohol vehicle, contamination of a second, especially female or prepubertal, subject causing side-effects seems very unlikely."
Study link:
There are several others as well that draw the same conclusions. This was the first I found in a search
I saw a post a little while ago that I'll never find again, but it's still bugging me. It was written like a PSA about proper procedure for applying testosterone gel--mainly, how you're not supposed to let it get on anyone else's skin.
And that's correct. But the post went hard on it, like "please, please be aware of the risks of this medication, it can do so much damage to others if you're not careful, I just think we should be honest about the advantages and disadvantages of medications like this."
It could've been sincere, but it gave me concern-trolling vibes real bad and I can't get it out of my head. So here's my PSA:
Don't slap on your T-gel and then immediately rub your bare bicep on anyone.
Once 2 hours have passed, the remaining amount available to be absorbed is negligible. The med guide says to wash your bicep before you rub it on anyone, but even that's being extremely cautious.
Testosterone isn't poison. If you apply a full dose every day, it still takes months before anything noticeable happens. It's not going to kill someone who accidentally touches your skin for .5 milliseconds.
You do not have to handle T-gel like it's drain cleaner. It's not corrosive. Cis women have testosterone. It's a thing that humans have in our bodies. Avoid getting your medication onto anyone else, but holy shit nothing bad is gonna happen if you forget one time and snuggle shirtless.
T-gel is alcohol-based, so it's best to refrain from being on fire until it has dried thoroughly.
Don't put it on your dick. If you've ever accidentally or on purpose gotten IcyHot on your dick, you have an intuitive understanding of how the skin there differs from bicep skin. Also, the effects of testosterone gel don't localize like that and your dick is fine, I promise.
Don't eat it. I don't know why you'd want to, but don't.
Don't leave the bottle out around little kids on account of little kids being the way that they are, i.e., enthusiastic about potions.

How to Prevent Ink Smudging in Calligraphy Writing
Calligraphy is an elegant and expressive form of writing, but one of the most common frustrations faced by artists is ink smudging. Whether you're using colored calligraphy pens or traditional dip pens, smudging can ruin an otherwise perfect piece. To achieve clean, crisp strokes and avoid smudging, you need to focus on proper techniques, materials, and workspace setup. This guide will walk you through various methods to prevent ink smudging in your calligraphy writing.
1. Choose the Right Paper
The type of paper you use plays a significant role in preventing ink smudging. Thin or glossy papers tend to cause ink to sit on the surface longer, increasing the likelihood of smudging. Instead, opt for high-quality, smooth-textured paper that absorbs ink efficiently. Some good choices include:
Bristol board – Smooth and ideal for calligraphy pens.
Rhodia paper – Popular among calligraphers for its bleed-proof quality.
Hot-pressed watercolor paper – Absorbent and works well with various inks.
Test different paper types with your colored calligraphy pens to see which provides the best results with minimal smudging.
2. Use Fast-Drying Inks
Ink drying time varies based on formulation and consistency. Some inks take longer to dry, making them prone to smudging. When using colored calligraphy pens, look for fast-drying inks, such as:
Acrylic-based inks – Dry quickly and are water-resistant.
Alcohol-based inks – Found in brush pens and markers, these dry almost instantly.
Gel-based calligraphy inks – Offer smooth flow with quick-drying properties.
If you're using a dip pen, avoid heavy or slow-drying inks, as they can stay wet for a long time and increase smudging risks.
3. Adjust Your Hand Position and Writing Angle
Proper hand positioning is crucial in preventing smudging. Left-handed writers, in particular, may struggle with smudging as their hand naturally moves across the fresh ink. Here are some tips to adjust your technique:
Write from top to bottom and left to right (if right-handed) to avoid dragging your hand over wet ink.
For left-handed calligraphers, use an underhand grip or write in a slanted manner to minimize contact with wet ink.
Lift your hand slightly as you write to prevent smudging.
4. Allow Enough Drying Time
Rushing through a calligraphy piece without giving the ink time to dry is a recipe for smudging. To avoid this:
Let your work sit for a few minutes before handling.
If working on multiple words or lines, move between sections to give ink time to set.
Use a hairdryer on a low setting to speed up drying time if necessary.
5. Blot Excess Ink
Blotting paper is an excellent tool for soaking up excess ink without disrupting your writing. After writing each word or line, lightly press blotting paper over the ink to absorb extra moisture. This technique is especially helpful when using dip pens and fountain pens.
6. Work in a Controlled Environment
Humidity and temperature can impact ink drying time and performance. For best results:
Avoid writing in humid conditions, as moisture in the air can prolong drying time.
Work in a well-ventilated space to help ink dry faster.
Keep your hands clean and dry to prevent transferring sweat or oils onto the paper.
7. Use Smudge-Proof Calligraphy Pens
If you’re using colored calligraphy pens, choosing smudge-resistant options can significantly reduce ink smudging. Some excellent choices include:
Tombow Fudenosuke brush pens – Great for beginners with fast-drying ink.
Pentel Fude Touch Sign Pens – Smooth-flowing ink with minimal smudging.
Sakura Pigma Micron pens – Known for their archival-quality, smudge-proof ink.
8. Seal Your Work for Long-Lasting Results
Once your calligraphy piece is complete, consider sealing it to protect against accidental smudges and environmental factors. You can:
Use a fixative spray – A light misting of fixative can prevent smudging.
Laminate your work – Ideal for preserving important pieces.
Frame it behind glass – A great option for displaying calligraphy artwork.
Conclusion Preventing ink smudging in calligraphy writing requires careful selection of materials, proper technique, and patience. By using high-quality paper, fast-drying inks, and smudge-resistant colored calligraphy pens, you can achieve clean and precise calligraphy work. Additionally, maintaining proper hand positioning, working in a controlled environment, and allowing sufficient drying time will help minimize smudging. With practice and attention to detail, you can master the art of smudge-free calligraphy and create stunning, flawless designs.

Here are the general rules I go by, as someone who is made of joint pain cream and has a cat:
> Cats' livers are specially adapted to their diet and as a result cats are far more vulnerable to accidental poisoning with common household substances than dogs, humans, or practically any other mammal. Their small size also means a safe dose for you, your child or your dog could be a catastrophic dose for them.
> Anything your cat gets anywhere on their fur, they WILL eat while grooming (in fact the gentlest method of force-feeding a sick cat who needs it is to dab food on their nose and let their grooming reflex cause them to lick it up). If anything that isn't meant to be swallowed and/or isn't intended for cats gets on your cat, it needs to be washed or trimmed out of their fur ASAP. This includes most dusts (drywall dust is a common one) as well as liquids, creams, pastes, gels, etc.
> Always always ALWAYS wash your hands after applying anything medicated. Hell, wash your hands after applying plain old moisturizer and don't pet your cat or touch their food/water dishes with hand lotion on. Hygiene and beauty products, household cleaners, OTC medicines and so on usually have this warning on them if you read the package, but do it anyway even if they don't.
> Never let your cat nuzzle or rub against treated areas of skin, and ESPECIALLY if the cream/gel/etc hasn't yet dried, set, or been absorbed.
> Be wary of your cat sleeping on or playing with clothing or blankets you've worn on treated skin, as sweat can transfer the ingredients into textiles even if the medication has already been absorbed.
> Where a cat walks, anything that gets on their paws will later be eaten when they groom. This is why most household disinfectants contain instructs to rinse them up with plain water after cleaning a surface, and why they need to be diluted before use. If you spill medication of any kind, caffeinated beverages, alcohol, makeup, paints, oils, etc on the floor, don't let your cat walk there until you're sure the spill has been thoroughly cleaned.
> The outside of an opened tube/jar/etc of topical products almost always has enough of the product on it to transfer to the next thing you touch. Wash your hands between picking up your cream and petting your cat.

Why Is My Gel Polish Lumpy in the Bottle? Here's What You Need to Know
Gel polish is a popular choice for at-home manicures due to its long-lasting and high-gloss finish. However, one frustrating issue that many people encounter is gel polish becoming lumpy or thick in the bottle.
This can make the application process difficult, leading to an uneven finish and longer curing times. If you’ve noticed this happening with your gel polish, here’s what could be causing it and how you can fix it.

1. Exposure to Air
One of the primary reasons gel polish becomes lumpy or thick is exposure to air. When gel polish is opened and exposed to the air for too long, it starts to dry out. The solvent inside the polish evaporates, causing the gel to thicken. This can result in lumps or an uneven consistency, making it harder to apply evenly.
How to prevent this: Always close your gel polish bottles tightly after use and store them in a cool, dark place to minimize exposure to air. If you accidentally leave the lid off for a prolonged period, consider transferring the polish to a new, airtight bottle.
2. Improper Storage
Gel polish should be stored in an environment that is neither too hot nor too cold. Storing your gel polish in places that are too warm, such as near a window or in direct sunlight, can cause the formula to break down and thicken. On the other hand, extreme cold can cause the polish to become gel-like and clumpy.
How to prevent this: Store your gel polish in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight or heat sources, such as in a drawer or a cool cabinet.
3. Old or Expired Polish
Like all beauty products, gel polish has a shelf life. Over time, the ingredients in the polish can degrade, leading to changes in texture. An old or expired gel polish may become lumpy, thick, or harder to apply. If your polish has been sitting unused for a long time, it could simply be past its prime.
How to prevent this: Check the expiration date of your gel polish before using it. If you notice that it’s several years old or has been exposed to extreme temperatures, it might be time to replace it.
4. Using the Wrong Tools
Another factor that can contribute to lumpy gel polish is using the wrong tools when applying it. If you’re using a brush that is not clean or has been contaminated with dust or other debris, it can introduce particles into the polish, leading to a lumpy consistency. Also, if the brush is not adequately cleaned after each use, the product could dry out in the brush and create lumps.
How to prevent this: Always clean your tools thoroughly after each use to prevent buildup. You can use a brush cleaner specifically designed for gel polish brushes or even isopropyl alcohol.
5. Improper Curing Process
Gel polish requires a UV or LED lamp to cure. If you haven’t followed the recommended curing time or the lamp is not emitting the correct amount of UV/LED light, the polish may not fully cure and could develop a lumpy texture. Inadequate curing can lead to uneven results and a thickened appearance.
How to prevent this: Make sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions regarding curing time and lamp type. Ensure that your UV or LED lamp is in good working condition and that you're using it for the correct duration.
6. Incorrect Mixing
Some gel polishes require shaking before use to mix the components together, as the pigments and base can separate over time. If you don't shake the bottle well enough, you may end up with a lumpy or streaky finish during application.
How to prevent this: Shake your gel polish bottles well before use to ensure the formula is fully mixed. Be sure not to shake too vigorously, as this can introduce air bubbles into the polish.
How to Fix Lumpy Gel Polish
If your gel polish has already become lumpy or thick, there are a few solutions to restore its smooth consistency:
Use a Gel Polish Thinner: Special gel polish thinners are available to restore the original consistency of your polish without compromising its performance. Add a few drops to the bottle, shake it gently, and test the polish.
Warm It Up: Sometimes, gel polish can become thick if stored in a cold place. Gently warm the bottle by running it under warm water for a few minutes (making sure it’s tightly sealed) to soften the polish and return it to a smoother consistency.
Remove Lumps with a Brush: If lumps are visible in the bottle, use a clean, thin brush to remove them. This will help make the polish easier to apply and more even when used.
Final Thoughts
While it’s common for gel polish to become lumpy or thick over time, understanding the causes and taking steps to prevent it can help keep your gel manicures smooth and flawless.
Always ensure proper storage, careful use of tools, and adherence to expiration dates to extend the life of your gel polish. If all else fails, using a gel polish thinner can help restore its original consistency. By keeping these tips in mind, you’ll be able to enjoy smooth, shiny nails every time you use gel polish!

Research: Gel Transfer
Throughout this project I want to explore making artworks that are considered for their sustainability aspects and also how I can make my own materials which is why I would like to try make my own gel plate. Once I have attempted to make my own, if unsuccessful i can explore other options but my aim is to try produce my own plate. Part of my process is embracing my works imperfections therefore if my plate does to end up working it is still beautiful to have experienced the process of creating my materials.
Below I have some links of different recipes for the gel plate so I can explore my options. I hope to create this while on my october back to make use of my time off.

The Significance of Instant Gel Hand Sanitizers in Our Everyday Lives
In the modern world, hygiene has become an issue that every one of us is concerned with. Among the handy tools developed to help us is the instant gel hand sanitizer. Whether one is leaving the house, going to a meeting, or simply taking care of the daily chores, sanitizers have become an inseparable part of our lives for personal protection.
Why Instant Gel Hand Sanitizers?
Instant gel hand sanitizers have gained immense popularity because of their ability to quickly eliminate germs. Basically, what distinguishes them from the normal soaps and water is the speed and convenience they offer. A few drops allow one to completely sanitize their hands without any access to water, hence becoming ideal for those on-the-go processes where access to hand-washing facilities might be insignificant.
A product like Cororid Instant Gel Hand Sanitizer strikes a perfect balance between hygiene and convenience. This product is formulated with top-grade ingredients to clean your hands in just seconds, leaving no sticky residuals. It is of a smooth gel texture for easy coverage across your hands, giving you proper protection in the best possible way.

The Science behind Gel Hand Sanitizers
Most instant hand sanitizers are based on alcohol, containing high concentrations of either ethanol or isopropyl alcohol. This is generally effective through denaturation of proteins in microbial agents, which can then kill bacteria and viruses. Consequently, they are very effective against a broad range of pathogens.
The added convenience of the gel formulation ensures that the sanitizer does not drip and evaporate away too fast, giving you ample time to rub it across your hands. It assures maximum contact with your skin to eliminate the germs hiding in every nook and corner.
Where and When to Use Instant Hand Sanitizers?
While highly effective, it comes down to knowing when and where to use them. For health experts, they should be your number one option in public spaces: shopping malls, offices, public transport, and restaurants are a must. Fundamentally, anywhere surfaces are in contact with frequently touched areas by large numbers of people, you are at risk of transferring germs onto your hands.
It's also a good idea to always have an instant hand sanitizer on your person. When soap and water are not around, hand sanitizers are the ideal replacement; they will keep you safe.
How to use Instant Gel Hand Sanitizers?
To use an instant gel hand sanitizer effectively, make sure you follow these steps:
Apply enough of the hand sanitizer onto the palm of one hand.
Rub your hands together, making sure the gel has covered every surface of your hand, including in between your fingers. Continue working the gel into your hands until it is thoroughly dry. Remember, the trick in effectively using a sanitizer is to make the sanitizers touch all parts of your hands; otherwise, germs could easily hide between your fingers and around your nails.
Essential Hygiene Tool
As long as hygiene is a number one concern in our everyday life, instant hand sanitizers will always play a vital role. Convenience, action, and ease of use make them an indispensable companion in every household and at work, and even in your pocket. With such products as Cororid Instant Gel Hand Sanitizer, one protects not only his or her personal health but also cares about being in an environment that is friendly and clean for others around him or her.
