‘The Burial’ Preview: Jamie Foxx Stars as Tommy Lee Jones' Lawyer in Court.
Jamie Foxx steps into the courtroom in the newest trailer for Prime Video's “The Burial.” The legal-themed drama-comedy, co-starring Tommy Lee Jones, Jurnee Smollett, and Alan Ruck, is slated for a Sept. 11 debut at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Drawing inspiration from Jonathan Harr’s 1999 article in The New Yorker, "The Burial" chronicles the journey of personal injury attorney Willie E. Gary (portrayed by Foxx). He takes up the cause of funeral home proprietor Jeremiah Joseph O’Keefe (played by Jones) in his contractual conflict with the Loewen funeral establishment. With Gary by his side, O’Keefe challenges Raymond Loewen's (embodied by Bill Camp) firm, allowing viewers a peek into the shady underbelly of the funeral business and revealing facets of Gary's daring and unique past.
In a conversation with People, the movie's director Maggie Betts shared her thoughts on casting Foxx. “The actual Willie Gary is an enormous character, and Jamie was the perfect choice, given his exceptional talent and dynamism, to capture this intricate role.”
She expressed her delight at Foxx’s portrayal, stating, “His interpretation added a dimension of depth and sensitivity to the character that surpassed my expectations. As a filmmaker, this was a joy to witness.”
Betts went on to say, “The movie is both uplifting and motivational, promising to evoke a range of emotions, from laughter to introspection.”
“The Burial” is penned by Betts in collaboration with Doug Wright. The production team comprises Foxx, Celine Rattray, Trudie Styler, Datari Turner, Jenette Kahn, Adam Richman, and Bobby Shriver. After its unveiling at TIFF, “The Burial” will screen in select cinemas from Oct. 6 and will be accessible on Prime Video starting Oct. 13.

The Ledge #567: New Releases, Pt 1 (RSD Edition)
Thanks to last week's unseasonably chilly weather, I found myself hooking up a turntable to my podcast mixer. Over the course of the next few hours I dgitized the pile of records I had picked up on Record Store Day a few weeks ago. (Why do they no longer include download codes?)
Once finished, I decided that this wonderful pile of music deserved it's own show, and since the start of every month commences with a "new release" episode (or two), why not spotlight this music? Technically, these are all new releases as they came out on the same day, even if some of the music dates back sixty years.
So that's what we have tonight. Two hours of Record Store Day highlights. From garage rock compilations to long out print albums to live recordings to specially recorded rarities, tonight's show is varied in not only years but genres. There should be something for everybody. But true new music fans should not worry, as next week's second part will be a more traditional "new release", and I have a ton of great material set aside for the show.
Of course, the one non-RSD track is this week's edition of the "52 Weeks of Teenage Kicks" series. I've selected one of the more popular versions of the tune. The Northern Irish rockers Ash released it as a b-side back in 2001, and reportedly still ocassionally pulls it out in concert.
And once again, I must reiterate that I'm looking for brand new recordings of The Undertones' classic. If you have the capability, or you have friends in a band, please submit a version. BTW, in two weeks I will be premiering a brand new version by a band that all Ledge fans are familiar with.

Sir Michael Gambon
Smash mouth (aka the guy who sang all star from shrek)
Jimmy Buffett
Bob Barker
Cindy williams
Buster from dave and busters
and many more
we miss you all
Why do some celebrity deaths hit so hard? I remember when I was a kid, I was DEVASTATED when Russi Taylor died, and today, we lost Matthew Perry. I didn't know him personally, but I'm still processing that I now live in a world without Matthew Perry. I remember really growing attached to Chandler as my mom binge-watched Friends. It's all so crazy to me. R.I.P. Matthew Perry.

I’m speechless from awe but I still gotta say some Thoughts
I’ll try to go choronologically
Aiden has my heart-I love his vibe, and unwritten was...idk how to even describe it I’m just. I’m. Yeah
the catcf reference was GENIUS considering that Noah played Wonka on tour-just the best
where is the emmy for JCS. where is it
Jenna and Maggie this episode...their relationship...they ripped my heart into pieces and put it back together oh my god
CHIP AND SKYLAR. their scene work was IMPECCABLE
“like father, like son” -honestly the way they BOTH played the baker and that’s coincidentally such a big part of his arc?? and Chip also worked with Andrew in falsettos?!?!?!?! the best
Zoey having an itemized list of rebellious things...ma’am I love you
“...DRUGS. is that drugs” we’re literally the same person
starships must have been a BLAST to film, the cinematography was so fun
also “genuine emotion expressed while under the influence” is one of my favorite tropes to watch, Jane does it perfectly and that scene was just so well done
numb is honestly my favorite Max song of the series
it’s so interesting to see more sides of DMD, I really love how genuinely developed every single character is
Aiden playing just dance in the background was iconic
it’s a bummer that Roger turned out to be awful but I loved the photo wall and everything, I just cannot express enough how much I love Jenna and Maggie
that scene with Simon, Mo, and Tatiana-masterful, absolutely masterful
I know I say this every week but Mandy really outdid herself
what is it with Nina Simone songs and being the most captivating on this show-I can’t believe I hadn’t heard this one before but I’m in love with it
John Clarence Stewart is a force of nature
CARING. HUMANS ARE MEANT TO CARE. SUCH A GOOD MESSAGE
next week is going to be *really, really good*
godddddddd I just need to work with these people. that’s all I want, truly
