sometimes I wonder what the fuck Genndy was thinking with Jack and his mother’s robes. I don’t even know where he got the idea for plain white kimono, considering that’s not really something in any samurai movies and such. The thing that’s especially amusing to anyone who knows abt traditional Japanese clothing is that. that’s essentially long Johns or a slip. It’s the underwear of the actual kimono and is sometimes a sleep dress. I think I know of one Japanese media where a plain white kimono is used as an actual public presenting outfit, and it’s Okami where Kushi wears one as the sacrificial offering. (hold on, getting to that.) If he wanted it to be an actual training gi, for one it doesn’t make sense that his mother is wearing the exact same thing, and two, it’s not a single layer kimono. anything samurai wore was not a single robe— the kimono shirt was double layered (with the white juban underneath normally) and the hakama pants were pants, not an open robe, despite often looking like a dress to outsiders bc of how flowing and wide they are. A gi looks even less like Jack’s robe— think of the white karate outfits. That’s a gi. For Iaido and Kendo and such the training clothing does tend to be the kimono shirt and hakama, but it’s not white on white, and I don’t know that it would be called a gi like the type worn for judo and such. I just wonder where the hell Genndy got the idea of Jack just essentially wearing underwear all the time lmao. I DO understand why he chose white, he wanted the contrast between Jack and Aku, but choosing a single layer plain white robe, beyond just for the sake of simplicity in animation, is the thing that surprises me. (Not in a negative way, just that I wonder where it came from). I have to wonder what people watching in Japan thought of Jack wearing that. No one seems to feel strongly enough to comment, and I believe part of that is just suspension of disbelief and Samurai Jack being such a simplistic cartoon in its displays that it’s kind of easy to ignore, but there have to be times ppl wonder why he’s wearing that lol. Especially bc Genndy KNOWS the proper attire, evidenced by the clothes he puts on Jack’s father in both the opening scenes and Birth of Evil.
I highly doubt this much thought was put into Jack’s clothing, but I do like to think that the reason Jack wears such a shockingly minimal and unarmored outfit is because of his function as the one meant to defeat Aku. Going back to the mention of Kushi in Okami, she wears those clothes bc she is meant to be the “pure, innocent, sacrificial offering”. The robe is not unlike those worn in Shinto purification rituals, or robes worn by Buddhist priests. It’s also very well known for being the clothes a dead person is put in. Kushi was basically wearing her shroud. Tying that in with Jack, I believe the reason Jack wears what he does is because he is meant to be similar. Jack is an offering from his parents, giving up their son to be the nameless warrior in order to defeat Aku for good. They want him to be the antithesis to everything that Aku is, so Jack wears robes meant for purification and to an extent representing sacrifice, a simple, genderless and unadorned kimono very uncharacteristic of the Emperor’s son, because as long as Aku lives, that title is not his. Jack wears that robe because he is meant to be the pure, innocent, forged and powerful sacrificial challenger to defeat Aku, or die trying.
As for Jack’s mother, part of me wonders if she had connections to the monks she stays with in the opening, and therefore from the moment she and the emperor decided on their son being the backup plan in case Aku returned, she was preparing both herself and him in her own way. (That’s the best explanation I can think of bc all things considered his mother should have been wearing some very heavy and ornate court Kimono. Maybe she and the emperor just weren’t into the style lmao.) edit: she DOES wear what looks like a simplified layered kimono in a few scenes, but the ones where she’s with her son, like the opening and I think the scene where she’s making a straw hat, she’s usually wearing a white robe.

BSD S5 EP 9
I have not finished the episode yet but I've just gotten to the Fukufuku backstory (specifically the part where they just met and its night and they're lying on the floor together) and, these two are fucking dark timeline Renga from sk8! 'The way of the sword is enjoyable!' and 'I'm going to master the sword alongside you' vs 'skating is fun!' and 'I want to skate with you infinitely' I swear Fukuchi even did the same hand movement that Reki did at some point. Energetic sunshine (at least at the moment) x calm and collected. I am getting such strong Renga vibes from that scene and it's driving me insane.
OK I JUST WATCHED TWO (2) SECONDS FURTHER AND NOW WE'RE IN A FUCKING SHOJO ANIME! BONES LOVES OLD MAN YAOI SO MUCH! THIS IS SO GAY! WHY ARE THERE SO MANY CHERRY BLOSSOMS!!? A CHERRY BLOSSOM PETAL IN THE SHAPE OF A HEART JUST FELL INTO FUKUZAWAS SAKE(?) AND THEN BROKE INTO TWO. THEY'RE NOT EVEN BEING SUBTLE WITH THE 'THIS (ROMANTIC) RELATIONSHIP IS ABOUT TO GO O SHIT' -NESS
DONT DO SYMBOLISM WITH THE FUCKING BIRDS YOU DUMB SHOW! I SEE WHAT YOU'RE FUCKING DOING! For context, they were having a conversation but the focus was on these two egrets? herons? anyways, and then one of them just flew off when Fukuchi said that he was gonna be promoted and sent to the battlefield , which is what separated these two. I'm going to die, I'm not entirely sure why but I am. /pos
Fuck it, I'm committing to the live blog. enjoy seeing my live uncut reactions folks!
The animation is so pretty bro, bones adores their old man yaoi.
Ok, old man yaoi backstory is over , and before I move on to the next thing I just wanna say, young Fukuzawa was so fucking cute! He was an old man even when he was a baby! he was adorable! and honestly so was Fukuchi! I'm very sad that he became the way he is now, war really does stuff to people, huh?
Ok I'm a little bit confused, I didn't realize that he had told that United Nations guy the half-truth. But whatever, that's on me I guess.
OK! JESUS FUCK THE MORE I HERE ABOUT THE WAR THE WORSE IT GETS. WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE SOLDIERS HAD TO EAT EACHOTHER AND WERE SHOT FOR TRYING TO DESERT! MAYBE I SHOUD HAVE EXPECTED THAT IT IS WAR BUT JESUS CHRIST!
God, Fukufuku are so gay. I know that stabbing someone isn't exactly romantic but he Fukuzawa did the thing where you grab onto the other persons clothes and after Fukuchi stabbed him his head ended up resting on his chest. This is PEAK romantic tradgedy.
Teruko, I love you. She looks so pretty and she is so hecking smart and I just adore her. She let Atsushi go! Woohoo!! Also, Atsushi's hallucinations are really coming in full force, huh? He is seeing so many people.
Dazai and Sigma are so silly, I love them, Dazai stop flirting for two fucking seconds challenge. Also, it's fun to hear that Dazai is screwing around with Sigma while thinking of Kunikida! Truly every ship is being fed this season! Except sskk, but we did get Aku in Atsushi's hallucinations doing a thing so that's kinda a win for the gays!
Wow! What a nice elevator! I'm sure nothing bad will happen here!
Oh catgirl, you left us too soon.
I must say, I don't really have much to say on the Meursault section. It was good! The animation was great as it usually is for the Meursault sections, Sigma was so pretty I love him and! Dazai did the thing where he played with Sigma's hair! Woo! Fyodor was his usual level of kinda ugly in anime form, Dazai is showing emotions! more of the sillies, Dazai fucking stood on Sigma, which is delightful, aaaaaaand it's started to flood! Fuck!
Anyways, back to the very start of this episode before I was overcome by the homosexual-ness of Fukufuku, Aya Bram Kunikida and Tanizaki got yoinked! Fuck! I still have a theory that Tanizaki could be doing an illusion and I will make a post about it one day. And also, please excuse me for saying this because while I am still upset about Ranpo being hurt... watching Fukuchi pick him up by the scruff of his neck like a cat was kinda hilarious. Also, Teruko I love you. You're the only hunting dog that heard about Fukuchi's real identity and didn't immediately die. Girlboss fr. Also also, where are Lucy Kyouka and Yosano :D? W-where did they go? Asagiri please I need to see my girls.
And to once again revisit the old gays, Holy Shit that was so gay. Nobody told me that the Fukufuku backstory was a Sports Anime tm that turned into a war drama in the second season! I knew we said they were divorced but I never realized just how married they were before the separation! Wow! Fukuzawa smiled so softly at Fukuchi! They were such sweet kids! Aagh!
This was a good episode! I liked this! Excited for next Wungo Wednesday!

hi bestie, I'm going to need your thoughts about BEAST. it doesn't matter how long. 🙏I find that LN very interesting plus my blorbo Odasaku is there TT
if you're up to the challenge of sharing most, if not all your unhinged thoughts about BEAST, I would greatly appreciate it.
If not, that's okay too. No pressure fr ❤️
This ask makes me stare at my computer screen in horror for the can of worms you've opened, my friend. I'm better now, but there was a point in time a couple years ago I carried my physical copy of the Beast LN with me everywhere in my school bag & called it my Bible. Needless to say its quite important to me. I wasn't sure how to approach this at first, but as I've been going I kind of ended up breaking it down by character. I will also say that I've read the LN and seen the movie, but I haven't read the entire manga yet, so if there's anything manga specific you were hoping I'd mention that I don't I apologize! This is comically long I am so sorry.
I will admit I kind of suck because, though Beast is primarily about the interactions between Atsushi and Akutagawa, I don't have much to say about either of them. But Beast is so so so refreshing to me to see some of the characters that I thought deserved better in canon receiving their time in the light. The interactions between Aku and Oda are everything to me, especially when Akutagawa has to babysit the kids, and through it he has to learn when to be gentle and when to be harsh. Its so so so important because you get to see that he can do both. The same Akutagawa who's first appearance in the main timeline is blowing up a police station without any care for civilian casualties is capable of gently playing with children, WITH his ability. It opens up a depth to his character that, at least at the time of Beast's official English translation coming out (I had it on Preorder lol), we didn't really get to see in the main timeline. It told me that there was so much more to see from him, more that Asagiri wanted to say about him, and not only made me really attached to his Beast version but made me enthusiastic to see what was to come from the main timeline for him.
Its kind of similar with Atsushi in Beast, if the opposite way. I was always a little disappointed with the anime's adaption of Atsushi, as he always felt a bit watered down to be a one-size-fits-all protagonist, when he has more character and snark in the manga that makes him so much more interesting. I don't love it for him because yanno that shit traumatizing, but I do for me enjoy having seen what happens when you put him in the mafia instead. Do you ever think about how he would have been like, 12, when he was recruited into the mafia? That's like 6 years earlier than in canon. This is assuming that Beast Dazai goes and picks him up at the same point in time that he acquires Akutawaga in the main timeline. (Aku was acquired when he was 14). So by the time of Beast's main plot, that gives Atsushi 6 years in the mafia to become the White Reaper, and what a name that is. To be associated with the death he's so afraid of. Ohh, he's interesting. I wish I had more to say about him. Honestly, beast aku and atsu are more my boyfriend @pmreaper's wheelhouse, and I highly recommend taking a look at his thoughts. Between the Orphanage and the Mafia, Beast Atsushi hasn't really seen much honest kindness, aside from Kyoka. And christ, the collar. I'll talk more about the collar later, but that does something to me. He goes from the orphanage causing him pain and problems about being the tiger when he doesn't even know, to a much more restrictive controlling pain when he does know. He's taught that being what he is just leads to being in pain and he has no control over it and it makes me miserable for him. Despite spending so much time fighting on the Mafia's behalf, on Dazai's behalf, this boy has no idea how to fight for himself.
I think that's a major difference between beast Atsu and Aku honestly. Akutagawa will fight for himself. He'll fight his way out of a bad situation. Beast Atsushi won't. That self pity of feeling he deserves it. Christ. Them. Their soft moments interacting together before everything goes to shit in Beast are everything to me. They're just kids from bad situations they understand each other. Their interactions in Beast stab me through the heart.
I don't have much to say about Gin but I want to mention her anyway. Mostly because I think she's the most mentally stable of the mafia members close to Dazai in Beast that we see (Chuuya, Atsu, Kyoka, Gin). She'd have a Keurig on her desk and make the best coffee on the floor. She's such a stark difference from her main timeline counterpart, too. Gin the mafia assassin and Gin the mafia secretary are so different, visually. But... this is a Gin that isn't fighting to survive in the same way. I think so much about how she was taken so that Dazai had some kind of control over Akutagawa without having him in the mafia. I think about how she decided Akutagawa wasn't ready to have her in his life again. About how she was ready to be killed for the Mafia. We barely see any of Gin in the main timeline, but we see so much of her here. Her loyalty to the mafia, her own feelings of betrayal, there's so much to her that we just haven't seen from the main timeline at all. I adore her. I want to see more of her. I like to think that after the events of Beast played out she stole a mafia helicopter and she and Kyoka flew off to Cancun on a girls trip to recover from All That Shit.
I generally ignore the Beast version of Chuuya the way he's presented in canon if I'm honest. And I quite actively ignore whatever the movie ending with the chains is because the fuck is that. Chuuya's presence in Beast canon is something that i acknowledge and then throw away. I have a very specific mental timeline of how Beast progresses in my head as far as where it diverges from the main timeline. In my heart, Atsushi is dragged into the mafia shortly before Dragon's Head Rush, possibly when the conflict is originally starting up in Yokohama, or some time during it. Somewhere in the 88 days before the final face-off against Shibusawa. (I have a lot of opinions on the nitty-gritty details of that timeline both in Beast and Main timeline but that's a not-right-now problem.) This is the event that, in the main timeline, Dazai ascends to executive. I believe that in the Beast timeline, during the DHR conflict is where he stages his coup to become the PM's boss. Which is... kind of a wild thing to do at 16, I guess, but this is a Dazai that has memories of the main timeline as well as of this world, so is he really mentally 16 at that point with the combined life experience? Anyway. Why do I mention this timeline when I'm talking about Chuuya? Because Dazai needed help staging that coup. Chuuya's help. He was well liked in the mafia even then (we can see Chuuya's own reputation was pretty damn good at this point as its not long after Stormbringer). I believe they had a more amicable relationship in the Beast timeline than in main timeline, and that this was calculated to make Chuuya's loyalty lie more with Dazai than the mafia at large so that the coup would work. But after Dazai is boss? Nothing. Cold and all-business once Dazai is in place to start playing with the entire city like his own personal barbie dolls to get everything in place to allow Oda to write his book. Whatever. Which leads to Chuuya's loyalty-hatred complex a bit but I have... a lot of opinions on that entire interaction between them that I don't really know how to articulate. But it fucking sucks.
As far as within the Mafia hierarchy, I think that very few people ever report to Dazai himself. Only Gin, Atsu, Chuuya, and maybe someone really trustworthy like Hirotsu. Chuuya is the boss's right hand in this, he's the second in command, above what a normal executive position would be. Dazai is busy making plans on his insanity corkboard trying to ensure this world stays perfect for Oda. He's busy scheming on what to do to make the mafia more powerful to ensure its reach can accomplish what he needs it to. He's busy doing all the meta-number-crunching to minmax his power so he can treat the world like a plaything. I think he leaves a lot of the normal day-to-day running the mafia to Chuuya, who acts more like the boss in the level of Mori in the main timeline, since the Mafia itself in Beast is like 3x the power it was in canon. Someone has to be keeping an eye on the city itself. I think the executives more of report to him than they would Dazai. It just becomes this really weird hierarchy of designated people leading what they need to so Dazai can focus on what he wants. Obviously none of this is supported in Beast canon at all its just what I believe in my whole heart. I also think that there may have been a point in time they tested something similar to the collar Atsushi is given with Chuuya to see if there was a way to shut down Corruption without Dazai needing to be involved. It failed and Chuuya was hospitalized for a week after and 100% made it Dazai's problem. Which, tangentially, do you ever think about the Beast aftermath? How if something comes up where Beast Chuuya has to use Corruption, there's no longer a way to stop it? Because I sure do.
This brings me down to more thoughts about Beast Dazai himself, who is such a wild character to me. He's everything normal timeline Dazai doesn't want to be. Oda wouldn't want this. Oda wouldn't want a world where so many people are miserable that don't have to be just for his sake. Its depressing, but main timeline Odasaku had chosen his time to die and was quite ready to do so. And main timeline Dazai? He just had to accept that. And grow beyond it. And learn how to create connections with others. But Beast Dazai? He swings the opposite. He doesn't try to recover, he's obsessive, he tears everyone else down into his misery with him to try to create a world that Oda can survive and write his novels in without ever thinking about the fact that Oda would never want that, would never ask for that, but he's on such a pedestal in Dazai's mind that its never considered. Its selfish. He thinks he's doing something for someone else but its so, so very selfish and frankly ridiculous. He chose to never really make any connections with anyone else. Oda of that universe doesn't even know who he is, other than the boss of the mafia that ruins people's lives. There's no connection. Beast Dazai is so untethered and doesn't see anything in that world as anything more than means to an end and I'm so, so obsessed with him. He's tragic. He's trying so hard to do something correctly and doesn't even understand what he's doing wrong because he's so caught up in saving the one person he's so fixated on. He's crafted an empire out of the mafia and couldn't care less about it. He's put himself into the shoes of a god and sacrificed every mortal comfort because of it. I have so much I could say about him but my brain is going to short circuit if I think about him for much longer. I'll probably talk more about him again when I finally reread Beast. I hate him more than I can explain. He's the most interesting man alive. He's no man at all. I'm in hell
Odasaku. Oda. He's still alive. He has even more orphans. Akutagawa is one of his orphans. He thinks he's the most normal guy but he's so, so weird. He trusts Akutagawa with his kids. He'll fight Akutagwa in the middle of the Agency as a training exercise. He probably has the most bland coffee order you can imagine. Anyone know that textpost about the guy that got the black coffee with the blueberry flavoring? The ordinary man with something deeply wrong with him? That's beast Oda. He wants to be a writer, he succeeds, he has a mafia boss obsessed with him and doesn't even know until said dude goes off and dies. I have NO idea what the fuck he was doing in the movie. I generally ignore the movie honestly. He's just some guy. This world was made for him and all he wants is to be ordinary. This world was made for him and he chooses to be mundane. This is a man that knows mortality well. That knows the best parts of life are the small ones. He wants to help people and he succeeds. He sees other people who had a past of violence, like he did growing as an assassin, and he helps them get out of it, he prevents it from happening, he offers care in a way those unused to receiving it can accept. He isn't perfect. He's just a guy. It makes him perfect. I want to kick a wall.
The agency in Beast and how they all rally together is so interesting as well. We don't really get to see them all in action together that often honestly and its a delight. I wish I had more to say about all of them. They're such a cohesive unit of strays and I love them.
I certainly have so much more I could say about Beast but this is already like, the length of an average one-shot fanfiction on AO3 just of my incoherent rambling. If there's anything you want me to talk more on please send another ask because this was a fucking blast to dig up a lot of my old thoughts. I have several unedited one-shot beast fics tucked into storage that maybe one day I'll share because they're all based off of my headcanons and personal beliefs on the timeline.
My boyfriend and I also have an ongoing project called Beastswap where we explore what happens to the characters if they start randomly popping between the two timelines in the post-Beast fallout after everything has settled a little and once I get my writing spark back there will definitely be some of that floating around as well.

My first story set in Figgiverse is ready! 🎉🎉🎉
I decided to post it here because it wouldn't exist without Tumblr and my dear mutual @mandalorian-general <3 but I will upload it to my new account on Ao3 too.
This short (3 916 words) story is a sneak peek into my my AU called Figgiverse which focuses on my OC Tiggnella and her husband clone commando Fi. It's also my first try to write in English so I hope you'll like it :)
The title: Double date
Contains: some fluff, some angst, no gore or blood
It was another warm summer day in Kyrimorut. Tiggi was working in the garden. It was so hot and dry that they had to water the plants to get any vegetables and fruit this year. Their independence from outside sources of food improved since moving in here. The fields were full of golden wheat – almost ready to harvest. They had now plenty of nunas, marlello ducks and robas. The garden was full of vegetables and few kinds of berries brought here from other planets. After a few years of hard work and many mistakes they have learnt a lot and could be proud of setting up their own family farm. Somehow clones managed to become great farmers. But other residents were of great help, too. Right now Makke and Aku were assisting Tiggi in watering the garden. While her older daughter was using a watering can with a gentle manner, her youngest son was roughly splashing water from the bucket. Tiggi didn’t tell him anything because she was glad that he was helping her at all. He would rather be with his buir but Fi was helping Darman prepare roba before it will go to those chosen for the kitchen duty this week. He didn’t want his young son to accompany him during such a dirty job.
Tiggi put down a watering can and stretched her back. She missed using garden hose. The last one got broken in mysterious circumstances that involved Burk’yc and a sharp knife (rumors says Sh’ehn freaked out that it was a snake about to attack Makke). He was now with Mij on the barn’s roof. They were repairing it after the last thunderstorm. Briikase and Shukur were collecting vegetables for today’s dinner. The first one apparently enjoyed being on the kitchen duty while the other was just happy he didn’t have to do his chores with Sh’ehn and Kot. Those two were helping Levet with the animals. Tiggi looked around trying to find the last of her clone children when a piece of mud landed on her face. Aku was playing in the pool of muddy water he made between the loth carrots and marble-berries. She sighed.
“Could you stop wasting water, please?’’ she said in the nicest tone she could manage. “The plants need it to grow.”
Aku just ignored her.
“Maybe you would like to help ba’vodu Mij with the marlello ducks? I heard that one of them decided to have ducklings later than others and now ….”
“No.” he said and continued to play in the mud.
Tiggi just added two bars of soap to the already long shopping list. Their children were better in making clothes dirty than she had ever been. Without Fi she wouldn’t be able to take care of them. He seemed to find himself well in the role of the father. He was caring and helpful. Changing diapers and doing the laundry wasn’t a problem for him. It was making her happy that everything seemed to go well in their new life. Together they were able to face all the challenges. Tiggi just wished that she could spend more time just with Fi. Taking care of nine children was really time consuming and they barely had an occasion to be just with each other.
The movement at the edge of the garden caught her eye. It was Etain going somewhere with her younger child, Werda, in a baby carrier. Tiggi called her to come.
“Have you seen Baatir?” she asked when Etain managed to find the path between the carrots.
“He’s with Niner. They are hunting in the woods.” the younger woman replied. She looked much healthier than during the war. She finally gained some weight and didn’t look like a skeleton. Her skin got tanned from working in the fresh air.
“Oh, right. I’ve forgotten. Thanks.”
“Remember he’s not a child anymore, right?”
“He may be biologically twenty but for me he is still that seven-year-old-looking-fourteen frightened ad’ika I adopted…”
Etain smiled softly. “I guess it’s going to happen with all of us eventually, eh? You’ve just happened to experience it earlier… Anyway it’s easy to lose track with so many children. Maybe you need a break? One free day or at least an evening? I know you’re trying to do your best as a mother… but it’s not going to hurt to think about yourself sometimes. Soon you’re gonna develop bags under your eyes so big that they’ll fit Kandosii! Wait… Where is she?”
“With Lenne.” Tiggi’s voice tensed slightly.
“… I still can’t believe you let her take care of your baby.”
“She’s my mother. She can teach her things I can’t. Not since I’ve lost my wings…”
Two women were standing there in awkward silence for a moment.
“So… How do you sleep recently?” Etain asked to change the topic.
“The right question is: DID I sleep recently…”
“You really need to take a break.”
“And leave Fi with all our kids? I couldn’t do that.”
“Maybe you and he could take a break together?”
“And leave NINE kids with someone else?”
“Asking wouldn’t hurt. Someone might agree. You know, it’s not a bad thing to ask for help. We’re all family now. It’s been a hard time for all of us trying to find ourselves in this new reality. We all get tired. You don’t know how many times I think about how I used to spend time just with Darman… Our little dates on Coruscant… Or when you, me, Dar and Fi were just sitting and chatting like average young people who are in love... Of course, Qibbu’s Hut wasn’t the most romantic place. And the food wasn’t the best. But these memories are priceless. I wish I could relieve them... Being a parent demands to do some sacrifices but I wouldn’t change it for anything else.”
Etain affectionately kissed the top of Werda’s head. The toddler replied with a joyful giggle.
Tiggi smiled softly at them. She wished she could find herself in the role of the mother as easily as Etain did. It made her more mature and wiser compared to the young girl they met on Qiilura.
“If you’re so eager to help… Do you have any idea what to do with him?” she pointed her head at Aku playing in the mud.
Etain looked at the boy then she came closer and crouched next to him.
“What a nice paddle of mud you have here.”
Aku looked at her suspiciously.
“Can I join you?” she asked with a friendly smile.
The boy stared at her for a moment as if he was wondering if he could trust her. Eventually he accepted her and moved aside to make some space in the mud for her.
“I made it myself!” Aku said proudly.
“Wow! That’s amazing! Good job!”
Tiggi just stared at them in confusion while Etain started to play in the mud with Aku. Werda was wiggling in the carrier. She wanted to join them. One of the balls of mud that Aku had made earlier started to shake and then move slowly towards her.
“Hey! It’s mine!” Aku yelled and stopped the ball. Werda stared at him angrily.
“Why don’t you share some mud with her too?” Etain asked politely.
“Because then you will tell me to bath her!”
The young woman almost chuckled. “How about sharing the mud with the plants instead? And make them some nice fortresses to protect them from ants!”
She put some mud around the stem of a berry bush and shaped it into a little fortress. Then she added a leaf as a flag. Aku liked the idea and soon all mud was put under the nearby bushes.
“Good Job! They look amazing! And now the plants are safe.” Etain praised the boy. “Now, after you clean yourself, would you like to join Kad and ba’vode Vau? They are making wooden ships to launch on the lake later this afternoon.”
Tiggi watched in shock as Aku happily agreed and ran to the bathroom in the main building.
“How’s that possible that everyone has better relation with my own son then me?”
“Be patient and understanding. I believe you’ll find a common ground with him in the right time.”
“Yeah… Anyway. Remember what you said about relieving those romantic moments on Triple Zero? How about doing that again?”
Etain blinked in surprise. “You mean… You want the four of us…”
“Yes.”
“…to go back to Triple Zero…?”
“No, no ,no, no, no! I meant setting up an event here on Mandalore.”
“You mean… a date? For the four of us?”
“Regular folks call it a double-date. So what do you think?”
“I would love to but… how? Where? I don’t remember any romantic places in Enceri. Unless you want to go all the way to Keldabe…”
“Not necessary. How about preparing a romantic dinner nearby home, at the lake? Let’s say tomorrow evening? You and I could do the shopping in Enceri in the morning – I have a long list of things to buy anyway – and get something special for our boys, eh?”
“Uh-huh. You’re really into this idea, I see. Okay but who will take care of the children?”
“We’ll find someone.” Tiggi said with confidence. She was already setting up everything in her head.
***
Next morning Tiggi and Etain took the speeder and travelled to Enceri. Nobody got suspicious because it wasn’t uncommon for the two women to go shopping together. Few people even asked to buy something for them. In the city they split to find everything faster. Few hours later they were coming back home with all stuff from the list and more…
“Woo-hoo! You’re back! Did you buy extra spicy warra nuts I asked for?” Fi was already searching through the bags.
“Hey! Maybe help us bring everything inside first!” Tiggi said with a chuckle.
“Alright, alright!” he picked up few bags.
“Wait! Not this one!” she took one package from him.
“Oh? What’s inside?” Fi got intrigued.
“It’s a surprise.”
“A surprise? I love surprises! Is it something to eat?”
Tiggi chuckled. “You’ll see later! I hope you don’t have any plans for the evening…”
“No, I don’t. Why?”
“You’ll see~”
“Tell me!”
“No! It’s a surprise!”
“I don’t want to wait!”
Darman watched them argue playfully while bringing bags inside the house. He said to his wife:
“I wonder what they are up to.”
“I have no idea.” she replied in innocent voice. “But I hope you too have a free evening.”
“Huh? Yeah, I do.”
“Great.” she stated and left him even more confused to bring her secret package to the kitchen.
***
Much later that day Darman found Fi walking impatiently near the closed door to the kitchen.
“Hey, have you seen Kad’ika and Wer’ika? I can’t find them.”
“Nope. Sorry, vod.” Fi tried to look through the keyhole.
Darman stared at him in curiosity.
“What’s going on, vod?”
“They locked themselves in the kitchen!”
“Who?”
“Our wives! They are preparing a surprise for us.”
“Oh? I’m curious what it will be…”
“Me too! Do you still have the hydraulic ram? We could use it to open the door slightly and try to sneak in…”
The door suddenly opened and Tiggi came out of the kitchen. “No need to do that. It’s ready.”
“Yay! Where is it? Can I see it now?” Fi couldn’t constrain himself. His wife chuckled.
“It’s in the basket. And no, you can’t see it until we reach our destination.”
“Which is?” he followed her closely in excitement trying to take a peek into the basket.
“The lake.” Etain explained. She was holding another basket. “We’re going to spend this evening nicely… Just the four of us.”
“Yay!” Fi yelled happily and rushed to help his wife with carrying everything.
“But what about our children? I can’t find them anywhere!” Darman worried.
Fi froze in the middle of opening the basket. Tiggi used this moment to take it back from his hands.
“Don’t worry. We’ve found babysitters.”
“For all of them? For... ELEVEN children in total??” Darman was in a shock.
“Yes, darling. No worries.” His wife assured him. “This evening we can rest, relax and spend some time only with each other.”
“Perfect!” Fi grinned and picked up Tiggi with the basket. Darman and Etain just giggled, grabbed each other hands and followed the other couple to the lake. It was going to be a pleasant evening.
***
After a few minutes of walking they reached the lake. No one wanted to go all the way around it to reach their spot so they took the wooden boat. It wasn’t very impressive (the clones built it themselves) but big enough to fit the four of them and two baskets. The men persisted to paddle instead of using engine attached to the backside of their vehicle. In the meantime their wives were supposed to sit on the bench and enjoy the view.
The surface of the water was shining in the rays of the setting sun. Insects with glittering wings were flying right above the lake all around them. It reminded Etain of Qiilura and how she met Darman. It still wasn’t a fully pleasant memory – she had a very tough time there. But it made her stronger and gave her the most loving and loyal husband she could ask for.
Darman was staring at his wife with adoration while paddling. For him she looked beautiful everyday, even early in the morning, but in this moment she was even more stunning. Her gaze focused far away while she watched the nature around them, apparently lost in her thoughts. Her ginger hair seemed to burn in the last rays of the sun. He felt so happy at this moment.
In the meantime Tiggi was half-heartedly arguing with Fi.
“I can’t let you do all the work while I’m just sitting here and resting.” she stated.
“You and Etain have prepared everything for this date so it’s fair enough if we pay off by taking us all to the destination.” Fi replied while admiring how pretty his wife was while trying to be frustrated at him. Her eyes were betraying her. Whenever she looked at him they were always full of love and it was making him feel like the luckiest man alive.
“Besides, I thought you like to stare at me…” He winked.
Tiggi chuckled. “Oh, I absolutely love to admire your body~” she wiggled her eyebrows. “So… I suppose I can’t make you change your mind, huh?”
“No. Unless you swap me and I’ll be able to take a peek inside the basket...”
“Absolutely not!” Tiggi pulled the basket closer to herself and they both burst out with laugher.
Soon they reached their destination and pulled the boat onto the shore. There was a small beach with soft, golden sand. Close enough to see the bastion between the trees but far enough not to be bothered by anyone.
Together they spread out the a picnic blanket. Fi gazed at Tiggi pleadingly.
“Okay, okay!” she chuckled. “You can unpack the basket now.”
Fi grinned cheerfully and attacked the basket with the shout of victory. Darman followed him closely. They laid out on the blanket all the goods they had found. Smoked roba strips, roasted nuna wings, baked sweet potatoes, four types of warra nuts, some fruit from their garden plus some exotic ones from the market. And a bottle of wine.
Their eyes were sparkling in excitement as they started eating without hesitation. Etain and Tiggi giggled. The feast begun. The men let their wives take as much food as they wanted then consumed the rest with a great delight.
When their stomachs were full the couples snuggled together and enjoyed the wine. Fortunately Etain remembered to pack the glasses.
“Mmm… This tastes much different than ne’tra gal… Where did you get it from? Keldabe?” Darman asked.
“From Xi’leen.” Tiggi replied.
The rest stared at her in a shock.
“What? I’ve got it as a present from senator Mevena, my dear friend. He said to use it for a special occasion. I managed to take it from the Jedi Temple before… you know…”
“So is this occasion special enough?” Fi tried to steer the chat away from painful memories and nuzzled his head against her.
“Surely.” she kissed his temple with affection.
“You know, I like it now. We should do it more often.” Darman stated while rubbing Etain’s arm. “I mean, I love our children but… it’s nice to have some time just for ourselves.”
Etain rested her head on his shoulder. “I absolutely agree.”
They all sat in silence. Two couples in their loving embraces enjoying the peacefulness, their company, the last rays of the sun above the trees, the beautiful nature around them, just their special moment…

“I’m going to ask one last time… Where is Aku?” Mij had been staring with a deep frown at the group of young clones. All of them had perfectly neutral faces. One of them stepped out to the front.
“I’ll talk with them and find out… but please leave us alone for a moment.”
Mij sighed.
“Fine, Baatir. You have three minutes.”
He went to the other room where Tallisibeth was showing something on the microscope to Makke. The little girl seemed fascinated. Not too far behind them, Uthan was watching the children with a proud smirk.
“How are the ladies doing?” Mij asked his wife and stood next to her.
“Very well, my dear. Tall’ika is showing Mak’ika what’s hidden in the water from the lake. The young one is curious about everything yet very careful for her age. She is skilled to be a scientist one day.”
“I’m glad to hear that. We’re going to have another apprentice soon.” he said with a proud smile while he watched their daughter patiently teaching Makke how the microscope works.
“How about the boy?”
Mij sighed heavily.
“That bad?”
“They locked him somewhere and don’t want to tell me where.”
“Heh. I’m glad I’m taking care of the girl then.” She smirked.
“You’re not helping…”
Baatir’s head popped through the door.
“Sir, I know where he is.”
Uthan patted her husband’s shoulder. “Good luck, dear.”
Mij walked towards the door.
“It seemed easier back then on Kamino… Maybe I’m just getting too old for that.” He mumbled to himself and entered the other room. The clones stood in a perfect line. Baatir spoke for them.
“Sir, I’ll tell you where Aku is and I’ll take the blame on me...”
“No way! You can’t do that!” one of the clones opposed.
“We’ll take the blame on us as a team!” the third one said and the rest agreed.
Mij had to stop himself from sighing again.
“Fine, just please tell me where he is.”
All of them pointed at the bulletproof chest in the corner of the room. Gilamar walked over there, unlocked it and slowly opened. Aku burst out immediately, punched him in the face and sprinted towards the door. He tried slaloming between his brothers but Burk’yc managed to catch him. The boy started screaming and wiggling in his arms.
“Let him go…” Mij groaned while holding a hand to his bleeding nose. Burk’yc let his younger brother go and they all watched him storming out of the room in silence. Baatir just gave Mij a tissue.
Aku ran at full speed through the corridor, dodged Laseema and Jilka chatting and slipped into a random room. He closed the door, turned around and realized where he got himself locked. Next to now empty fireplace in an old armchair Walon Vau was sitting and knitting. Nearby Kad was playing with his toys on the floor. Werda was laying in her carrier and being closely watched by Mird. The old man didn’t even look up.
“Greetings, young one. You seem lost. Come, sit down. I bet Kad will gladly share his toys with you.”
The boys stared at each other in silence. Eventually the older one extended his hand holding one of his toy speeders.  Aku came closer, took it and started quietly playing with him. Suddenly something hit him in the back. He turned around and realized it was Werda’s teether. The little girl was grinning at him cheerfully. Mird made disappointed growl and took the teether back to her only for it to be thrown at Aku again. Mird whined in frustration and stared at its owner.
“Mird’ika, the young ones have to train their aim somehow. Besides I would be grateful if you could keep your own offspring in line…” Vau raised a thread of wool from which the tiny strill hung.
“Lord Carud, please, let it go.” he gently unattached it and put it back on the ground. The puppy whined in protest.
“Go play with your siblings.”
It looked at the other two puppies playfully fighting nearby. The last thing it wanted was to get another beating from its siblings. It walked over to Werda and curled up on her belly. She began gently petting it and soon both of them fell asleep.
Walon smirked slightly. He enjoyed the peaceful moment and continued knitting another blanket for Werda.
***
The sun was almost fully set. In the last of rays of the sun on the rooftop a winged woman was crouching. First wrinkles were decorating her face. The evening breeze was blowing her loose hair gently. A sharp gaze of her blue eyes was wandering across the lake to the opposite shore. She smiled softly at the view of two couples relaxing and enjoying each other company on the blanket. Some voices reached her ears and she looked down at the front yard beneath her bare feet.
It was already covered in shadow so the residents of Kyrimorut started bringing the tables and benches out to eat dinner there. She closed her eyes and breathed in a cooling evening breeze. The infant in her arms cooed.
“Shh…” she rocked it and wrapped her wings tighter around them both.
Below some children were laughing and running around. The older ones were helping adults bring the food and plates to the tables. Briikase and Shukur were arguing on which side of the plates forks should be placed.
The baby cooed again.
“Shush… Don’t worry little one, I’m here…” She smiled softly and gently stroked baby’s pouting face. “Your mamawill be back soon. Don’t worry, she didn’t abandon you. She wouldn’t…” the woman’s voice cracked. “She’s not like me…”
She gazed down again. The view of the family full of life, with lots of joyful children running around, with everyone helping each other, with their laughs and little talks… It all reminded her of her own home. The one she lost long time ago.
“Hey, Lenne!” Ruusan shouted from the ground. She was holding her little daughter in her arms. “Come down! The dinner is ready!”
Lenne smiled at the two. Not everybody in Skirata clan accepted her presence (Fi hardly ever gave her more than a disgusted look) but Ruu was always nice to her. The woman waved at the young girl in her friend’s arms. She smiled and waved back.
“I’m coming. Hold on, Kandosii.”
The moment she spread her wings the baby giggled happily. Lenne couldn’t help but chuckle.
“You surely have an allasian soul… Off we go!”
She floated down to join her… companions. She wouldn’t dare to call them family. Not yet… Maybe never.

Kizazi Moto: A Firey Blast of Afrofuturism ignites Animation
Tumblr media
Have you watched the scorching hot series on Disney+ called Kizazi Moto: Generation Fire? This ain't your average cartoon. Kizazi Moto bursts onto the scene with a vibrant blend of Africanfuturism, stellar animation styles, and dope stories centered around young heroes. We're talking Black Panther vibes meet classic video games, all wrapped up in a future bursting with potential. https://youtu.be/jFBu33_XeUI This first part of our Kizazi Moto feature dives into the first five firecracker episodes, leaving you wanting more. So, grab your favorite space juice and let's blast off! Welcome to Generation Fire: Why It's Hot First things first, the title "Generation Fire" ain't no accident. Every protagonist in these opening stories is a teenager, bringing a fresh perspective and youthful energy to the challenges they face. It's their fire that drives the narrative and ignites our imaginations. The Herderboy: Familiar Yet Fresh The first episode, "The Herderboy," throws us right into the action. Think The Last of Us meets Horizon Zero Dawn, but set in a rural African landscape where futuristic tech coexists with traditional living. The main character, Ndahura, looks like he stepped straight out of a Zelda game, ready to take on some monstrous creatures that wouldn't be out of place in Horizon Zero Dawn. This episode sets the bar high with its cool character designs and a world that begs to be explored further. Where do these creatures come from? Why the mix of tech and rural life? These are mysteries that leave us wanting more. Mkhuzi: The Spirit Racer with Anime Flair Next up is "Mkhuzi: The Spirit Racer," a fun, anime-inspired ride. Our main character, Manzo, has a mysterious alien arm that seems to have a mind of its own. Think Afro Samurai meets The Boondocks with a dash of Crash Bandicoot's Aku Aku mask thrown in for good measure. The animation is a blast from the past, reminding us of that awesome Afro-Japanese fusion style. The story centers on Manzo's desire to protect his mom, the town's defender, in a way that resonates with young men everywhere who feel the responsibility to take care of their families. The ending throws a surprising curveball, leaving us with a smile. Moremi: A Captivating Shadow of the Colossus Style Tale "Moremi" might just be the top dog of these first five episodes. This one tugs at the heartstrings as we meet Luo, a mysterious boy held captive. The whole vibe screams "Shadow of the Colossus" with a talking robot bird named Malimbe acting as Luo's protector and self-proclaimed god. The animation and character designs are top-notch, featuring monstrous robot villains that echo the first episode's mysterious tech theme. Luo has a life-sustaining artifact, but its origin remains a mystery. Just like "The Herderboy," this episode builds a world with so much potential that it feels like a crime to leave it unexplored. There's also a standout scene showcasing Luo's backstory with a slick animation transition reminiscent of Spider-Verse. The bond between Luo and a mysterious scientist is something special, and we'd love to see their story continue. Surf Sangoma: A Darker Dive with Familiar Lessons "Surf Sangoma" takes a more intense turn. Set in a futuristic 2050 Durban, it's a stark departure from the previous rural settings. Think Ready Player One meets Afrofuturism, but with a heavy dose of surfing thrown in. While there's violence, the episode delivers powerful messages about friendship. It also throws in some cool homages to other properties (think whales in the sky that look suspiciously like something out of Star Wars). This episode is darker and more dangerous than the others, but it still manages to be captivating. The story of a friend caught up with the wrong crowd feels familiar, but the setting and designs breathe new life into it. It's a bit creepy, but undeniably good. First Totem Problems: A Hilarious Coming-of-Age Tale The last episode in this batch, "First Totem Problems," takes a sharp turn in animation style. Think The Powerpuff Girls meets The Proud Family, but set in a futuristic African city. We follow Sheba, a young girl on the cusp of adulthood, as she prepares for a coming-of-age ritual. This ritual involves receiving a totem tattoo, a symbol of family pride and a connection to one's future. It's kind of like a futuristic Bah Mitzvah or Quinceañera. The hilarity comes from Sheba's internal struggle as she decides whether to choose her mother's or father's totem. This episode explores the importance of tradition, family expectations, and forging your own path. It's laugh-out-loud funny and has serious potential for a future series. We're left wondering what happens after Sheba chooses her totem, and if her decision will have lasting consequences. Plus, the way this cartoon integrates technology with nature is simply stunning. The character designs are vibrant and unique, with a color palette that pops with pinks and purples. Kizazi Moto: A Must-Watch for Animation Fans Kizazi Moto: Generation Fire is a breath of fresh air in the animation scene. It's a stunning showcase of Africanfuturism, boasting diverse animation styles, captivating stories, and young heroes that inspire. These first five episodes leave you wanting more, with each world begging to be further explored. Whether you're a die-hard animation fan or just looking for something fresh and exciting, Kizazi Moto is a must-watch. Stay tuned for part two of our review, where we'll delve deeper into the show's overall impact and target audience. We'll also discuss the anthology format and how effectively it brings these diverse stories together. Until then, keep your eyes peeled for Kizazi Moto – it's a firestorm you won't want to miss! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBl0l_ZgGiY Read the full article

“Precious Things Start Small”
2. nonton youtube atau streaming anime. biasanya kalau gabisa tidur, jalan andalanku ya nonton youtube. aku biasanya nonton streamer game kesukaanku kalau gak ya nonton anime. kadang kalau lagi sibuk-sibuknya gabisa ngikutin jadwal tayangnya jadi pas hari libur maraton deh nontonnya.

I find me, 30/100!
Namun, makin berjalan tugasnya makin berat aja rasanya hehe.
"Aku join di workshop and writing publishing buat mengalahkan diriku sendiri. Kalo pun sempat jeda, it's okay. At least aku udah try to be better than before".
Nah, melalui challenge ini, I find me, even gak nyampe 50% buat it is a good progress.
Dibandingin aku yang fresh from oven -hehe- amatiran tulen. But, balik lagi ke mantra yang aku sebutin tadi.

Despite their efforts, this massive beast was gaining on them. The roots and trees that he and the woman had to dodge were mere twigs and brush to her. The samurai pushed forward, his eye on the stranger as she unearthed a large chunk of rock in moments, hurling it at the giant bear like it was a cannonball. The image conjured the recollection of The Scotsman or one of his clan members and their “rock” throwing contests, where they hurled a massive boulder as though skipping stones. It was almost unbelievable to see a human not even larger than himself manage that feat. Was she human? He had known many in Aku’s future who at first appeared to be human, but the resemblance was only skin deep. He had thought not to expect such surprises in a world where Aku had been thwarted, yet he had already been challenged to the thought that this earth was like the past he knew.
She caught step with him quickly, Jack allowing her to steer them toward the sound of escaping, the trickle of water almost inaudible over the footfalls and grunts of their pursuer. Yet they were not out of the woods yet. Eyes shot to the tree that loomed over them, hurtling down at alarming speed, but before he could decide what to do, he was shoved powerfully out of the way by the woman. Immediately he sat up, alarmed that she had fallen in its path, before the brief relief that she had managed to dodge quickly was replaced with dismay at the new and immediate danger before her. He had thought she would be attacked, but was surprised as beast payed no heed to the being before her, beady eyes set on the samurai instead. Realizing it was him she wanted, he returned her gaze, stance lowering to keep distance between them while not turning an inch away from the animal.
If it was him the creature wanted, perhaps he could buy the woman time to get to safety, or give her time to think of what to do next.
“Wait—“ Jack tried to stop her from provoking the creature, but could do nothing as she forced its attention to her.
How could he leave her there with that beast? If something went wrong, he wouldn’t be able to aid her. Mind raced as he thought of what to do. The creature wanted him, not her, yet if he remained it would surely keep the beast’s aggression high. However, if he fled, this woman who had helped him would be left to deal with this massive beast alone. Could he do something to aid her without continuing to infuriate the animal? Eyes glanced from the creek across the gap and back to the beast and the stranger.
Silently the man took a small running start and leaped the gap across the creek. The moment he landed, he turned course along the edge, locating a sturdy enough tree that he climbed up until he was close to the top. There, he positioned himself so that his body was pointed exactly across where the bear stood towering, a moment of calculating in his head before unsheathing his sword and with a swift stroke, slicing a chunk of the tree free. Before it had a chance to fall, he reeled back with all his strength and launched it out with the same force he would have used to “jump good”, sending it hurtling straight towards the white beast.
“Over head! Now is your chance!” He yelled as the massive chunk of wood catapulted down.
Jack was perplexed by this woman.
He noticed her sharp blue eyes looking past him, Jack himself hearing a faint crack of flora being disturbed, yet he couldn’t see whatever it was that caught her eyes so intently.
“What? What do you m—“ before he could finish his sentence, his body jumped to attention as a thunderous roar erupted from the distance. He recalled this woman telling him this creature was a baby… then the mother must not have been far behind. Jack glanced towards the sounds of gigantic bounds, horrified by the implication of its size and the speed with which it was closing in.
Before he could decide what to do, the mysterious woman had him by his sleeve, pulling him forward in retreat. Quickly finding his feet, he began fleeing with this woman, following her as she peeled ahead of him in a burst of surprising speed. He wasn’t sure exactly where they planned to flee, but simply away seemed reasonable enough for now. He caught pace with her, dodging branches and roots, keeping his step while trying to keep well ahead of the threat.
“What are these creatures?” He yelled after her as they ran.
Eyes did not stray from the path as he heard the stranger call out. He had to trust her for now, between this stranger and a gigantic and angry beast.
It seemed as he ran that the forest almost struck out at him, as though it meant to attack him as well. It couldn’t possibly be moving, however…? Still he found himself having to dodge roots he could have sworn he hadn’t seen until they were practically under his feet, branches and leaves that fell before him or just barely missed his body.
What is going on…? Something truly strange was afoot here.
“Look out! Ahead of you!” Jack called up to the shadow of the woman racing ahead of him, right into the path where a wide, long branch was coming crashing down from the sky.
Behind him he could hear the beast gaining on them— any prolonged halt would undoubtedly bring her to their heels.
Leaping with all of the strength his lower body had he launched himself over where the woman ran in front of him, sword unsheathing to slice it in two and send the pieces flying behind them. As he came crashing down, he caught himself before he stumbled, continuing forward with a glance behind him. Despite the routine of life-threatening danger and strange beasts, utter confusion remained ringing in his head. He had thought this was a world free of such otherworldly oddities. He had spent a week in this world without encountering them… why only now, when he was alone? It felt like he had trespassed onto yet another hostile world so different from the one he knew.

Day 13, favourite book
30 days writing challenge
Jujur bgt nih, udah bertahun lamanya aku ngga baca buku.
Ah kangen hunting buku..
Tiap taun ngga sabar nunggu buku selanjutnya rilis. Finally has come to an end, kaya ada separuh jiwaku ada yg hilang gitu.. Nemenin masa remajaku bgt, tiap taun ngga ada yg ditunggu lagi hiks sedih! Trus move on aja, ngikutin sekuel Twilight sempet beli 2 buku, tapi kurang tertarik.. Lanjut ke buku2 Andrea Hirata, inipun beli beberapa buku, aku lupa buku terakhir baca atau ngga. Masa kuliah suka buku2nya Naked Traveler.. Happy! Masih semasa kuliah kalogasalah, sempet ngikutin buku2nya Raditya Dika jg, ini mah minjem ke sepupu 3 buku kayanya, lucu bener lah itu buku2nya menghibur sekali.
Setelah punya anak akupun selalu ngenalin anak buku sedari bayi, alhamdulillah anaknya suka baca. Rutin bed time story sebelum tidur. Ibunya suka kalap sendiri kalo beliin buku anaknya, ilustrasinya super gemasssss.. Yang lokal maupun import. Tiap tau selalu nungguin event Big Bad Wolf.. Waaah surganya pecinta buku, promonya mayan pula. Yuk rajin baca lagi ah..

Why I like Bill Cipher
Tumblr media
"I have some children I gotta make into corpses!"
Shortest explanation ever, I like how he manages to mix the feeling of chaotic fun with chaotic terror.
Bill comes from that same breed of crazy, fun villains like Joker, Jinx, Disney's Hades, Powerpuff Girl's Him, Aku, and so on, that one second can be really funny and another can be really intimidating.
I love this archetype of characters, I love the idea of a villain who can just enter a room full of people and you don't know if they're gonna make a silly joke, or attack someone, or both. I love a villain with this kind of random unpredictive factor.
A lot of these villains are also usually constantly going back and forth from being very chill to being really upset while being really fast talkers who often come up with some really good and morbid one-liners the likes of which you would often see from something like a Dragon Ball Z Abridged villain or something, and... I don't know why, I just really enjoy this kind of dark humor, especially when done in a kid's show just for the challenge of seeing how much the writers can get away with.
Tumblr media
I feel like any of these villains could have filled this spot but I decided to go with Bill as he seems to have the most interesting aesthetics.
I love how he's just this floating Dorito with an eye of Sauron and no other facial features dressed like a cartoon from the 70's with godly (demonly?) powers and a high-pitched voice just having the time of his life messing with a pair of kids.
It's just such a dumb and silly visual but they manage to extract so much personality of this thing that I can't help but be impressed by it. It's amazing how much energy you can convey with nothing but an eye.
Tumblr media
But I think the reason I love him (and this archetype) so much is because this feels like someone taking advantage of the fact they have a cartoon character.
Cartoons are silly, cartoons have fast energy, and cartoons can be creative and imaginative when allowed to be. They don't have to worry about the limitations of real life, they can be as chaotic and crazy as you want them to be, and mad villains with superpowers often open the doors for a lot of fun chaos.
That's not to say that this can't be done outside of animation. Deadpool, Beetlejuice, or The Mask, they all manage to capture the feel of a real-life cartoon, but you can always feel that they're struggling to deal with the limitations of their environment and have to tone down their imagination a bit.
Meanwhile, with Bill, you can just throw limitations out the window and play around with as many ideas as you want. Make him materialize a decapitated screaming head, make him teleport behind all the people he talks with, make him just turn people into curtains or replace the places of every facial feature in a person's head.
Like many great characters, Bill teaches a very nice lesson for aspiring creators.
You have a fictional character, so take advantage of it!
Tumblr media
Overall, I think I like Bill because he feels like a chaotic antagonist that is used to his full potential! He's fun, funny, threatening, imaginative, charming... What more could you ask for?
