90's Kid

The hip-hop that I grew up on, still lives. Some may say I am exaggerating but the proof was on Sunday.

I couldn't say "No" to when I was invited to the party by G and what I pictured it would be was very different. 

I was fortunate to share an intimate moment behind the scenes, where the South Gate Rapper I know as my homie, surrounded himself with family, friends and supporters like a fighter before entering the ring.

Fans from as far as Atlanta and as close as Pacoima, lined the streets. Some as early as 1pm to get a chance to see a glimpse of G and El Rey Theater concluded with a sold out event. 

Every fan I met that night from a 16 year old kid to a 52 year old man, G's fans were as genuine as he was on Sunday. They were not there to only to enjoy a concert but to celebrate a rising voice of hip-hop and a legend in the making. 

With every track the DJ played he fed his fans with an energetic performance.  "We must unite the Blacks and the Browns" was the quote of the night as he played tribute to Easy-E, Tupac and Mexicans. 

G's fate has been given a rare opportunity in this world, a voice. A voice that people can listen and relate to.
