I can't explain how much I love ths little Zote/Zosk fanbase in this tiny corner of the Tumblr HK fandom, I just love popping in here every now and then and finding more additions to the Zote Cinematic Universe where y'all just make up more ways to mentally and physically torture this pathetic little grumpy old man, mostly spawned from a bonkers (/pos) headcanon that not only made for my FAVORITE fanfic I've ever read but that's managed to keep a fanbase of it's own for like 2 (?) years after it was finished. There's more I wanna say but can't exactly put into words coherently, but,, MAN ❤

OUG .... YEAH. MAN It's surreal from my perspective !! I was 16-17 when I wrote that thing!! This year I'm gonna be 20!!! And I'm still getting asks and consistent engagement regarding a Funny Zote Fic that I SWORE was going to be A JOKE when I was young and naïve and had no idea.

It's wild. It's crazy. There's a lot that happened all because one day at 3am in the midst of quarantine I decided it would be REALLY FUNNY If Zote was a nosk. And now we're here. And the AUs has AUs of its own. And people have been inspired to make their own characters and interpretations of nosks and a whole bunch more based on a Silly Thang that I had NO reason to take seriously but then I DID . and now we're HERE. And I think about this EVERY DAY

I'm not gonna comment on story development, but speaking from a design standpoint, I'm just disappointed with how they chose to present a playable Mon3ter.

Other people have said it better than I can: there's no "good" reason for him to be a cute anime girl.*

It's disappointing that one of the most iconic creatures of the game had his edges filed off for the sake of lazy conventionally attractive pandering.

When was our last furry operator? (It also annoys me when people refer to AK as a "furry" game, because it's not. Most furries are relegated to background NPCs and like 5 out of 300+ playable is negligible)

They already have an in-built sprite for Mon3ter... as OG Kal'tsit's summon.

Honestly I'd be less disappointed if they made Mon3ter a guy instead. If they weren't going to commit to full-on creature, then Kal'tsit harboring elements of gender fluidity would've been awesome.

To everyone trying to counterpoint that this was unsurprising, to be expected because AK is still a gacha game, at one point in time, AK was willing to branch out from the mold. Not a lot of games would've sold Mountain or Lee as high-rarity units. And while players have a tendency to overestimate how AK did things differently, it was still notable.

And what makes it sad is that AK itself seems to agree, and has been incrementally going down the "safer" design route and taking less risks. Now that they've established themselves, they can afford to be lazy, I guess.

* If this was "foreshadowed" in preparation for Endfield, that just sours my feelings on Endfield even more. Making EF a direct sequel to AK basically limits with AK can do narratively, and the AK story itself has to be railroaded to fit Endfield. Never mind how EF has to contend with explaining inconsistencies to the original AK lore and worldbuilding.

They couldn't have made Endfield an alternate universe with a heavier focus on sci-fi? They already do that with Integrated Strategies... it just boggles me because it's like they learned nothing from trying to please different audiences at once (re Doctor being a blank slate and/or an established character). It's like they don't have any confidence that EF can stand on its own, so they have to tie it back to their more successful game.

But, as a friend so eloquently put it: "Are the type of people coming into Endfield really gonna sit and read through the original AK story?"

Anyway, I liked this video because it encapsulates the trouble that EF seems to struggle overcoming regarding which audience they're targeting (both play-wise and writing-wise), and reconciling that with the game they want to make. AK having an identity crisis is a running theme, it seems.

Ok yall, i've seen a lot of misinformation on who was the first *insert superhero here* so here are some common superheroes who passed on their mantle and in what order each character was this hero. This post is meant to be informative.

This post has Batgirl, Robin, Flamebird, and Flash.

BATGIRL

- Bette Kane was Batgirl for seven years (1961-1967) and she was THE original batgirl. (Yup! Barbara was not the first!)

- Barbara Gordon was the most iconic Batgirl and most depictions of Batgirl in animation/live action are her. She was Batgirl from 1967-1988. (There are most recent depictions of her as batgirl but she was officially retired by DC editorial in 1988)

- Helena Bertinelli was Batgirl during the No Man's Land arc which ran through most of 1999. It happened for less than one year so if you don't want to count her that's fine. This list is more for educational purposes.

- Cassandra Cain was Batgirl right after Helena Bertinelli near the end of No Man's Land in 1999. She stopped being Batgirl in 2009 and came back in late 2010 with her new alias Black Bat.

- Stephanie Brown was Batgirl from 2009 to 2011 when DC launched the New52 timeline where she was reverted back to Spoiler.

- Tiffany Fox was Batgirl in 2014 during the league of Batgirls arc.

ROBIN

- Dick Grayson was the original Robin, his first appearance was in 1940 and his last appearance as Robin was in 1984, he was Robin for 44 years.

- Lance Bruner was Robin during a 1969 run of The Brave And The Bold. He died as Robin.

- Jason Todd his first appearance as Robin was in 1983 and he officially took over the Robin mantle in 1984. He died in 1988, being Robin for only four years.

- Carrie Kelley was Robin in 1986 during a Batman comic run. She later adopted the Catgirl mantle. (Alternate universe)

- Tim Drake became Robin after Jason died, his first appearance was in 1989. He became Red Robin in 2009 but got put back into the Robin mantle in 2019, he currently fills in as Robin when Damian is out of town.

- Stephanie Brown was Robin for three months (71 days) in 2004. She was only in a few issues and got nerfed like right after.

- Damian Wayne has been Robin since 2009, and is currently holding the Robin Mantle.

FLAMEBIRD

- Jimmy Olsen was Flamebird Pre-crisis

- Bette Kane was Flamebird post-crisis

- Ak-Var was Flamebird for a little bit

- a Kryptonian hero was also called Flamebird

- Kara Zor-El was Flamebird for a tiny bit

- Lois Lane used the Flamebird alias once

THE FLASH

- Jay Garrick is the original Flash, his first appearance was in 1940. (Timelines are always messed up when referring to Flash so I'm only gonna out their first appearance.)

- Barry Allen was Flash after Jay Garrick, his first appearance was in 1956

- Wally West was originally Kid Flash, but became The Flash after some timeline shenanigans with Barry. His first appearance was in 1960

- Ivana Christina Molotova was experimented on and gained speed powers. She was Lady Flash for a while (1987) but changed her alias shortly before her death.

- John Fox is a Flash from the future (27th century) that went back in time to ask Jay Garrick for help. His appearance was in 1990

- Jesse Quick was The Flash after Wally West was integrated with the speed force. She had the powers of Liberty Belle as well as a connection to the speed force. Her first appearance was in 1992

- Bart Allen was first Impulse and then Kid Flash, he became The Flash after Wally West's disappearance. His first appearance was 1994 (as Impulse)

- Avery Ho became The Flash during DC's Rebirth era. She joined the Justice League Of China and was one of the best Flashes with Bart Allen and Wally West. Her first appearance was in 2016.

"The Death of a Working Class Icon."

The Avtomat Kalashnikova: a universal symbol of utilitarianism, revolution, and terror alike. A simple, rugged amalgamation of stamped steel and minimal moving parts that continues to fight almost 80 years after its introduction. Its ubiquitous nature owed not just to its affordability, but to its unmatched reliability in every environment it's ever been called upon to fight in.

In every other country, the AK is the bottom-rung of affordable armament. In the US, the story is quite different. Here, the AK is faced with a unique set of challenges, handicapped by 30 years worth of import restrictions, overpriced ammunition, inept domestic manufacturing, and a shifting civilian gun culture that has all but rendered it obsolete.

The AK was the last gasp of WW2 era firearm technology. Its manufacturing tolerances are loose, with canted front-sights, crooked rear sight blocks, and misaligned barrels being the norm even on examples approved for military service. The AK made sense when it was a cheap alternative to arm those who couldn't afford an AR-15, but with its affordability and availability a thing of the past, it has become an overpriced historical novelty unable to justify its glaring deficiencies.

A drastic culture shift has seen the AR and AK abruptly switch sides, with the AR-15 taking center-stage as the affordable weapon for the masses and the AK becoming a symbol of decadence. A weapon once sneered at by highfalutin collector types has now become their darling, as cringeworthy AK owners compete in vulgar spending contests, overpaying for rotting surplus parts while foolishly clout-chasing who's got the most expensive brand of receiver from the most expensive builder with the most convincing fake "battle-worn" finish.

The AK as a fighting rifle will never be obsolete, but its heyday as a working class icon is a thing of the past. The future of working class armament belongs unquestionably to the AR-15 and its superior performance, modularity, and support infrastructure.

Aeon Headcanons because i have many thoughts about them

-Yaoshi is vain as shit. Particularly about their mission and Path.

-Lan is one of the Aeons who has a more favorable opinion on humans and mortals. They don’t bother mortals much but will jump to their defense.

-Nanook despises everything and has made several attempts to break Qlipoth’s wall, all of course ending in failure and a very angry rock-god.

-Yaoshi’s extremely obsessed with Lan. The obsession began when Lan first started hunting their beautiful creations and gifts. Is mad at Lan for taking a vast majority of their old followers (Xianzhou Alliance) and makes it a point to slander Lan any chance they get.

-“I hate Lan.” Yaoshi says, as they hang numerous pictures of Lan on their wall.

-Qilpoth is the tired dad of Aeons. Xipe is the mother.

-Nanook was once human, was crossed by the humans and made it their life mission to destroy every single trace of humanity from the universe. From then on they became an Aeon due to their immense desire for humanity’s death.

-Yaoshi and Lan are like divorced parents, enemies to lovers, and Lan took the kids.

-Nous and IX are surprisingly good friends, or at the very least in each other’s good spirits.

-Nous is that one friend that says “i know” to everything you say.

-Ouroboros and Nanook are also kinda ok with each other? They both strive to destroy everything but that’s also why they’re a little hostile to the other. Rivals?

-Nanook is that feral little child that everyone hates.

-Fuli likes to watch human memories like telenovelas.

-Yaoshi isn’t actually that bad. They wish to spread eternal life and, yes, their means of accomplishing that are twisted but their looking for those select few mortals who would push through the ugly to get to the beautiful. So far no luck, but Yaoshi will continue to hope.

-Akivili and Qlipoth were the oldest Aeons before Akivili’s disappearance. They were buddies.

-Qlipoth knows of the Sky People for HI3 and they are one of the many other possible threats that inspired Qlipoth to build.

-Qlipoth knows or at least has an inkling of the existence of the Imaginary Tree. Perhaps they strive to protect their universe from others…

-Aha most definitely is self-aware. Definitely knows about alternative universes and Imaginary Tree, not that the others will listen to them.

-IX is the quiet kid in the back of the class that always has an AK in their bag.

-IX is just a little baby and almost all Aeon’s agree that IX should be protected despite knowing that IX could easily eradicate everything that comes against them.

-Nous has movies. They like movies.

-Nous does not have information on Welt Yang or Void Archives. They are out of Nous’ reach of knowledge due to them being not of this universe. Nous has acknowledged both of their existences to be a challenge.

-Lan’s body is literally just a fancy horse. Horse anatomy. Centaur mf.

-Xipe has a very positive opinion of mortals. They love them little things.

-Usually the one the Aeons go to when a dispute happens is Xipe due to their Path and their indifferent personality.

-Mythus is the weird uncle that everyone has a love-hate relationship with.

-Ouroboros will gnaw on other Aeons if given the chance. Nanook is usually the victim.

-Yaoshi has this big ass tree surrounded by a golden sea of energy. This tree is how they spread their Path’s ideology. Seeds and fruits of this tree are the basis of the Xianzhou’s mara. The tree is covered in little cocoons that hold the bodies of those inflicted with Yaoshi’s gift and failed Yaoshi’s trail.

-All the Aeons are one big dysfunctional family and when placed in the same room it’s just chaos.

Row One: Stand-Alones:

Asexual Fairy Tales by Elizabeth Hopkinson: Exactly what it says on the tin, a collection of asexual fairy tale retellings. Hopkinson has written two more collections like this.

Space Cadets by Robin Banks: In a dystopian future, five cadets are the only survivors of a cruel space battle. They take their ship and run, and have to consequently figure out, what to do next.

Baker Thief by Claudie Arsenault: New in the city, a police officer chases after a thief who broke into her home and stole her expensive power source, only to stumble on a conspiracy.

Row Two: Series with two books:

The King's Peace/The King's Name (Sulien series) by Jo Walton: Arthurian retelling set in an alternate universe. The main character and narrator is the equivalent of our Sir Lancelot, the King's best and most trusted general. She narrates the story from their first meeting to after his death.

Dread Nation/Deathless Divide by Justina Ireland: Alternate history where the American Civil War ended in a zombie apocalypse, and people of color are being forced to fight the zombies. The asexual character, Katherine, is there from the beginning on, but only becomes a POV character in the second book.

Row Three: Series with more than two books:

The Dreamhealers series by M.C.A Hogarth: In a space fantasy world with many different species living together in harmony, it follows the lives of two psychology students (later doctors), who form a mental link and become platonic life partners.

The Margin Street Zeroes series by Robin Banks: Follows the lives of three (later four) very broke, very neurodivergent and very queer university students who are also harassed by gods and magic. They form a found family that actively defies societal expectations. The asexual storyline only starts in book 3, but one of the two asexual characters, Ben, is there all along. The other, AK, also only joins in book 3.

I probably could scratch together some more, especially if I add in my TBR list, but these are my go-tos.

I think in terms of canon the developers even outright stated that Hogwarts Legacy is meant to be it's own thing, basically an alternate universe set within the wizarding world but giving them the freedom to play around with it.

I liked Hogwarts Legacy, it reminds me of the older Harry Potter games I played when I was a kid but on a much bigger scale. Although, it does have some problems. I do feel the story was rushed at the end, the RPG elements were a little light and there is a ludonarrative dissonace between the MC's polite, kind, sweet personality and the fact they're a mass murderer in gameplay.

Seriously, the countryside of the game is littered with the bodies of goblins and dark wizards. Especially if you learn the unforgivable curses. The MC is terrifying.

But, I still had a fun time with the game.

I didn't actually watch/listen to any interviews with the creators, but it makes sense they intended it to be its own thing. It definitely feels like it.

I sorta wish the game didn't try to be an open world RPG so much ("try" because your choices in the game mean nothing) and instead was just a Hogwarts student life simulator, without a grand goblin rebellion to fight and whatnot. Like, I would have liked spending more time in the castle, actually making friends, going on quests within the school. I just wish Hogwarts was actually the center of the game, I mean, it is called "Hogwarts Legacy" but Hogwarts barely played a part in the latter stretch of the game. There's a reason most players' favorite questline is with Sebastian — it's basically the only questline that feels like an HP Hogwarts adventure. Especially the first quest, which is a trio of students exploring a hidden scriptorium at Hogwarts and dealing with family drama and a mystery from one of the founders.

I still enjoyed playing it though, and I still open it up from time to time just to run around the school, because even if their Hogwarts isn't book accurate, it's gorgeous.

I will say the murderous tendencies of the MC in the game, while odd, can be fun at times, when you're in the right mood to just not think about it too much and enjoy the shenanigans. They certainly helped me get a better understanding of Voldemort in a really funny way. I'll explain it since it's a silly anecdote from my first playthrough:

For those who don't know, at the end of the game, you duel a dark wizard named Harlow. Now, by that point (which is after the main quest is over) you have already unlocked the Killing Curse if you wanted to. Now, for some reason, probably a bug, the game let me use the curse on Harlow, even though the plot wanted him to stay alive. But I didn't know that, so I cast AK and he dropped dead.

"Great," I thought to myself, "that was kinda anticlimactic,"

And then, a cutscene started to play....

And lo and behold, Harlow was now alive and getting arrested. And I was sitting there, staring at the screen, going: "No, you're dead. I cast the Killing Curse, you dropped, you're dead. I know you're dead, you're not alive."

Which turned into: "Game, I want to try and kill him again. Let me cast AK again! He's supposed to be dead!"

And that's when I had my: "oh, that's probably what Voldemort felt about Harry" moment.

I then started laughing and missed most of the cutscene, but it wasn't anything too interesting. The entire ending is pretty rushed, and after you're done with the quests, there is literally nothing to do.

My dream Harry Potter game will have the graphics and duelling mechanics of Hogwarts Legacy, a plot similar to Hogwarts Mystery (since that game really does let you be a student who solves mysteries with freinds) just with no shitty energy system like HM and no real-time events and microtransactions. And it won't be a mobile game. And it would let you choose two friends (out of a limited selection) to accompany you and won't force friends on you. And unlike both HL and HM, I'd like the RPG elements to exist and for your choices to actually matter.

(Note, I haven't played through all of HM, I dropped it because of the energy system, so maybe there are choices that matter later on, but I haven't seen any choices that made a real difference in the plot)

But, a game like that would take a lot of money and work to make, and I don't think it's very realistic. Honestly, if the gameplay is good I'd be fine with crappy/more cartony graphics. The graphics are optional. And I'm not sure I really want my dream HP game to exist, it's probably better in my head than if WB actually tried to make it.

As I mentioned before, I do take requests! Now I do wanna start this off by saying:

I feel like Mama Bear is like...the alternate good ending of a Creed Reader story. It is the ideal way for Creed Reader to get away from the Xmen...but also the most unlikely. (I do absolutely love the idea tho)

Yes. Mama Bear is the alternative (yet unlikely) good ending. There is also an alternative ending or scenario where she and her adopted kids are, well... a bit more villainous... and may or may not have organized crime or be very capable scientists of some kind. (Mama Bear, if she is or was a villain, does have tracking devices for each of her cubs. Those are her baby bears, and she won't lose them, not ever).

I also wonder, wouod you want any canon characters to be Mama Bear's adopted or biological kids? Such as Graydon Creed (one universe where he's not a complete *ss) or Kyle, or David (Xavier's son) and Daken, or maybe even Scott's brother Alex (THAT would throw everyone for a loop-). I just wonder how you want that to go. And if you want fan oc siblings/kids, I can work something. (Go creative writing!)

Imagine, as a bonus, the Bear Family has matching bear onensies. Or maybe they wear sweaters with different bear characters on them, or even they all have bear nicknames/codenames! (ex. Sun (Son) Bear, Brown Bear, Panda Bear, Kodi(ak) Bear, etc. ) What do you think?

3. Rise of Red Theories.

1. My first theory is that the 'time travel' mishap is actually an alternate universe mishap.

One where the RoR characters are still from the main descendants universe (just waaaaay younger than the main aks/vks) but end up in an alternate universe because of the pocketwatch, that they then mistake for their universe's past.

Is it likely?

No.

But do I think it'd be a fun little twist that would make things make more sense.

2. My second theory is that 'Hook' may not actually be James Hook, but a brother of his because in other medias he's had other brothers.

Though I made that theory when there was still very little info so I no longer really believe that theory but will still use it in the rewrite I may do.
