Aeon Headcanons because i have many thoughts about them

-Yaoshi is vain as shit. Particularly about their mission and Path.

-Lan is one of the Aeons who has a more favorable opinion on humans and mortals. They don’t bother mortals much but will jump to their defense.

-Nanook despises everything and has made several attempts to break Qlipoth’s wall, all of course ending in failure and a very angry rock-god.

-Yaoshi’s extremely obsessed with Lan. The obsession began when Lan first started hunting their beautiful creations and gifts. Is mad at Lan for taking a vast majority of their old followers (Xianzhou Alliance) and makes it a point to slander Lan any chance they get.

-“I hate Lan.” Yaoshi says, as they hang numerous pictures of Lan on their wall.

-Qilpoth is the tired dad of Aeons. Xipe is the mother.

-Nanook was once human, was crossed by the humans and made it their life mission to destroy every single trace of humanity from the universe. From then on they became an Aeon due to their immense desire for humanity’s death.

-Yaoshi and Lan are like divorced parents, enemies to lovers, and Lan took the kids.

-Nous and IX are surprisingly good friends, or at the very least in each other’s good spirits.

-Nous is that one friend that says “i know” to everything you say.

-Ouroboros and Nanook are also kinda ok with each other? They both strive to destroy everything but that’s also why they’re a little hostile to the other. Rivals?

-Nanook is that feral little child that everyone hates.

-Fuli likes to watch human memories like telenovelas.

-Yaoshi isn’t actually that bad. They wish to spread eternal life and, yes, their means of accomplishing that are twisted but their looking for those select few mortals who would push through the ugly to get to the beautiful. So far no luck, but Yaoshi will continue to hope.

-Akivili and Qlipoth were the oldest Aeons before Akivili’s disappearance. They were buddies.

-Qlipoth knows of the Sky People for HI3 and they are one of the many other possible threats that inspired Qlipoth to build.

-Qlipoth knows or at least has an inkling of the existence of the Imaginary Tree. Perhaps they strive to protect their universe from others…

-Aha most definitely is self-aware. Definitely knows about alternative universes and Imaginary Tree, not that the others will listen to them.

-IX is the quiet kid in the back of the class that always has an AK in their bag.

-IX is just a little baby and almost all Aeon’s agree that IX should be protected despite knowing that IX could easily eradicate everything that comes against them.

-Nous has movies. They like movies.

-Nous does not have information on Welt Yang or Void Archives. They are out of Nous’ reach of knowledge due to them being not of this universe. Nous has acknowledged both of their existences to be a challenge.

-Lan’s body is literally just a fancy horse. Horse anatomy. Centaur mf.

-Xipe has a very positive opinion of mortals. They love them little things.

-Usually the one the Aeons go to when a dispute happens is Xipe due to their Path and their indifferent personality.

-Mythus is the weird uncle that everyone has a love-hate relationship with.

-Ouroboros will gnaw on other Aeons if given the chance. Nanook is usually the victim.

-Yaoshi has this big ass tree surrounded by a golden sea of energy. This tree is how they spread their Path’s ideology. Seeds and fruits of this tree are the basis of the Xianzhou’s mara. The tree is covered in little cocoons that hold the bodies of those inflicted with Yaoshi’s gift and failed Yaoshi’s trail.

-All the Aeons are one big dysfunctional family and when placed in the same room it’s just chaos.

It's really funny that the Aeons really do not care what you feel about them. They exist, they are the pinnacle of the concepts associated with their Paths and they will influence your life regardless of your stance.

Oh, you don't like the philosophy of Elation and decided to form a faction that defies its notion? Unfortunately for you, Aha thinks you're funny, so you're under them anyway.

Oh, your faith resides outside of the Aeon system? No one cares, now wield the power of Preservation in the name of the Amber Lord.

Oh, you think Lan's arrows are disasters that should be avoided at all costs? Fret not, just take the blessing of the Hunt and go kill those abominations yourself.

So I spoke somewhat about my thoughts on Emanator Sampo here, but I never really thought of it from a design point of view or what kind of powers he would have until just recently. But I actually kind of love leaning into it from a "stage hand" perspective?

Because like. Aha's body in THEIR official art is completely black, giving attention to all the fun brightly colored things around THEM. And that's so fitting for Sampo! He usually prefers to be a side character. He likes to act from the shadows. His is a much more subtle hand.

So I wonder if as an Emanator, a lot of his clothes are actually very dark? Not necessarily plain, still extravagant and needlessly detailed in things like cut and quality with lots of different fabrics and textures and ornamentation, but dark. Or maybe even his skin itself becomes blackened further down his body; his hands in particular are dark, as a sort of sleight of hand reference.

The motif of a lot of straps wrapped around him like in his canon design is still present, but they're all loose and flowing off of him like paper streamers now instead of restraining him or holding him together. He is no longer contained! Or maybe they're still a bit more rigid/heavy, but just draped more like red stage curtains!

And this is like. Fully self-indulgent, but I love inhuman designs, and there's nothing in canon to say I can't do this, so screw it! Go for broke!! Maybe it's not visible to normal people, but Sampo having a second set of arms would be really cool, as further sleight of hand reference. One set is almost normal looking, but his hands are a bright, attention-drawing white, and the other is dark, set almost in the shadows of the first arms, to act less noticeably.

He also has something of a broken heart design to him in canon (the front of his black shirt with its jagged shape down the middle; his coat looks like a full heart shape in the back), and I actually like him keeping that element as an Emanator, because I think it suits him. Sampo says his taste in aesthetics and views on Elation involve human dignity,

and the story he helps create in Belobog involves the long and winding road of resistance and survival and eventual triumph in the face of some very adverse, oppressing odds. (I'm pretty sure I heard he once called Wildfire "artless" though, plus the man acts like he thinks Shame is some kind of dessert, so like ndkdjzjskkd) But the point being!!

I think Sampo is someone who can appreciate heartbreak and angst and tragedy in a story, because it makes the victory at the end all the sweeter. And this would be another thing he shares with Aha, because I think THEY did bless the Mourning Actors partly just to be a little shit, but also because Aha does recognize tragedy as part of THEIR Path, too, and you can see it in some of the game. So a broken heart motif can still suit him, and I like him having elements of both comedy and tragedy. Like his clothing having a happy sun/sad moon (like the moon in Aha's art) or him having both of the traditional comedy/tragedy masks in his design.

And as Emanator, Sampo can maybe play with the stage settings environment, too. Like lights sometimes behave strangely around him, appearing blindingly bright to someone or dramatically dark. Sampo wills it and suddenly there seems to be a metaphorical spotlight right where he wants everyone to look. And when he doesn't want to be noticed, his face seems to be cast in shadow, he seemingly just fades into the background, no one notices or recognizes him and he sneaks away easily. He can create smoke or fog literally out of thin air without his bombs now, too, the air will just suddenly thicken until his stage is obscured, and Sampo can set the scene as he pleases or disappear without a trace.

And in line with being a stage hand, Sampo can direct attention like no other. He was already extremely good at this as a normal mortal, and becoming an Emanator only took it up to 11, past human limits. Sampo points, and all present feel compelled to follow his fingertip. He looks away, and they all follow his gaze. He can even affect the mood of an audience; he can influence everyone to be calm and placid or he can whip them into a feverish frenzy. Sometimes a crowd will start to become unsettled, agitation stirring until it boils over, until it incites a full on violent mob.

And in the middle of all that chaos will stand one perfectly calm figure, face cast in shadow, until they quietly slip away out of sight.

Archons Lore but with HSR Paths because.

Venti — The Remembrance; he took his best friend's form, is a bard who remembers and tells the stories of others so they aren't forgotten, Fuli coded behaviour, clearly has some whacky shit going on with him i.e his voice lines about meeting the traveler.

Zhongli — The Equilibrium; only ever makes fair contracts, a very mysterious man who also seems to know more than he lets on, a background deus ex machine of sorts i.e the chasm interlude quest when he saved Xiao, influencing things just as HooH does.

Ei — The Hunt; So deadset on achieving eternity for her people, caused bad things with the sakoku and vision hunt decrees, as Lan brings both destruction and salvation, a very fierce and powerful warrior.

Nahida — The Erudition/The Abundance; god of wisdom who is the face of a literal tree of knowledge, duh. Rukkhadevata snapping the purest branch of the tree to create her gives heavy Yaoshi vibes a-la Tomie.

Furina — The Preservation; girl kept acting for five hundred years and never once wavered as said by mirror-her, tenacity that would make Qlipoth proud. Their ideal for justice being the continuation of existence, sacrificing both her humanity and divinity for her people. It's plain simple.

Mavuika — The Destruction/Harmony; Initially, war. But knowing Hoyoverse plus the dropped Natlan Teaser, they're probably gonna take her and her nation's themes in the way they did with Penacony's Harmony vs Order subplot. (And from the first two Natlan Archon Quests, I was kinda right.)

The Tsaritsa — The Nihility/Finality(?); Still not 100% because we still don't know her story, probably more attuned to the destruction due to her and the Fatui's goals and actions and "burning away the old world". But I can see her as a Self-Anihilator like Acheron or the Stellaron Hunters.

i like that most of the aeons aren't entirely good. if they aren't outright horrible by ordinary morals, they're at least flawed

SO LET ME GO IN DEPTH ON WHY THE AEONS ARE FUCKED (sort of) (also i won't go into inactive aeons or ones we don't know enough about)

aha — joy and mirth in life is undeniably important in life, but the elation takes it to an extreme, completely disregarding anyone else. it is hedonism and egoism, causing chaos for the sake of causing chaos, hoping for the results to be amusing, while remaining uncaring of other people's feelings and well-being

fuli — i suppose in this case the remembrance is more neutral (though im not that well read-up on it), but their followers are worse. on one hand, archiving and preserving memories is good work, but on the other, stealing and deceiving to acquire those memories certainly isn't appreciated by anyone outside the garden of recollection

ix — nihilism is quite a self-destructive ideology, really. the mortal spirit and determination is a powerful thing, however, the nihility completely stomps it out, technically not even intentionally

lan — despite eradicating evil being an objectively noble cause, the hunt spares no thought for the countless innocent lives that were lost due to collateral damage. they slayed their own devoted warriors, too focused on their target to care about their devout worshippers. the hunt claims to be righteous, yet are they any better than their enemies if the amount of their victims is just as high as the other side's? under that thin veil of upholding justice, they are vindictive and callous. (can you tell i hate lan)

nanook — well... i don't think i have to explain why the destruction is Not Good, right? wishing for the complete annihilation of the universe isn't exactly a benevolent goal

nous — the erudition searches for knowledge just for the sake of knowledge, not for the sake of the people. what good does research make if its done for self-absorbed reasons, if all empathy and humanity is lost in the process?

qlipoth — most of my gripes with the preservation are with the ipc, if anything. and the ipc might... not even be of the same path anymore (seen a few theories about the ipc following voracity or propagation). honestly the preservation just build Wall.

xipe — though we've "worked" with the harmony, it is still suspicious. there are clearly still so many issues with the family, and they are not as ideal as they pretend to be. we are yet to learn more, but utopias are never what they seem

yaoshi — the abundance may seem benevolent, and they are, indeed, generous. yet, at the end of the day, their gifts are faustian bargains. mortals trade off more than they can afford to give for the blessings provided by the abundance, because no mortal mind is built for immortality

i've had these thoughts for a while i just never put them into anything longer than funny one-liners in my head

At what rate do any of the long-life species age, like Yingxing referred to Jing Yuan as a "boy" but Jing Yuan was clearly a grown man by the sedition which was a maximum of roughly 30 years later so either he is legitimately younger than Yingxing or something is fucky

Why is Boothill white

How long was Dan Feng in the shackling prison before the forced rebirth because we have three options, either they let him live out what was basically his natural lifespan, Vidyadhara eggs take centuries to hatch, or Dan Heng is a LOT older than he looks and acts

For that matter is this Bailu's first incarnation after the sedition because that would mean the eggs just take a long ass time to hatch

Can Vidyadhara breath underwater??? If not wtf was the plan for the eggs in scalegorge waterscape? Like how are the pearl keepers gonna get to the kiddos??

The only excuses I'll take concerning why the other high elders didn't save him is either they all reincarnated and all the preceptors are shit or there was threat of civil war

I get that the Aeons are beyond understanding, Qlipoth especially, but why on earth did THEY give the IPC power??? They have destroyed so much more than they have preserved

I also understand that telling Belobog the truth would have caused civil unrest and things would have gotten worse but how on earth is leaving them with a functional dictatorship the best option like wahoo we love Bronya but girl that's still a dictator. I mean I know that its not the astral express's job to fix that but jfc somebody get these guys an election

If I had a nickel for every time March interrupted a big moment for completely unnecessary comedic relief I would be able to buy Hoyo

one main thing i really like abt hsr storytelling is how distant and poweful the aeons seem. we are introduced to them right off the bat, and they’re super intimidating and well-designed. they’re extremely mysterious, more powerful than imaginable, and dont just appear the way archons in genshin do. they’re huge presences and play such interesting roles that we don’t know enough about yet, and i love how they seem so much more powerful than archons in vibes alone.

Qlipoth: As the oldest he always saw it as his duty to protect you, you were kind and innocent, so much different from the other aeons, he didn't want that ruined, he wanted to preserve your innocence as long as he could.

But you were adventurous and desired to visit more planets, guiding others to a brighter future, he didn't hold on to you hard enough, didn't try hard enough to protect you, and when he heard of your passing he fell in despair, he closed himself off, never answering peoples prayers to him.

And then Qlipoth felt it, you were back. He doesn't understand how, you were killed of by Nanook, there shouldn't be anything left of you, but it was no doubt about it, it was you and he would be damned if he let you die again, he makes his move to get you back to him.

This time you will be protected, you will be preserved.

"I am sorry little one, I wasn't there enough for you but this time I will make sure you're safe"

Yaoshi: Oh how she thought you were adorable, always helping people to a better future, kinda like what she does only the ones you help out doesn't... change afterwards. She was always out there, trying to catch a glimpse of you, just a simple look from you were enough to leave her breathless.

And how sad Yaoshi was when you always avoided her, you thought of her as strange, you didn't like the way she was helping others. It made her grow jealous of the planets you guided, you gave all the attention to those mortals and ignored her, she couldn't stand that.

Yaoshi offered immortality to any planet you saved, hoping to turn them into mindless beasts, it was almost relaxing to her, watching what made her so jealous all perish. She was so focused on this that she wasn't there when Nanook killed you, all she knew was that she felt a pain in her soul the moment it happened.

Oh how she cried, for the one she wanted for herself had perished, her tears didn't end for millennia, it didn't stop until she felt you again, it was sudden like all the pain in her suddenly disappeared.

Finally she can make you hers this time, her love for you as infinite and immortal, just how she wants it.

"Oh, the guidance is back, how lovely. Now how do I get them to me without catching the attention of the others"
