Who will I be Tomorrow?

Have you gone into the BlackGirlMagic hashtag? Have you seen the beautiful faces that are black men and woman? Their colored clothes clash and bring up a rainbow of art and poetry and love. They have gone through everything bad and hard yet come out beautiful and black, opals. They are made to be strong, yet elegant, and fearless. Their culture is ripe full of dance moves and community cook outs in neighborhoods that considered each other family because yeah maybe they ain’t got a dad but they got a a dozen loving mamas despite how harsh she is. They got that. I don’t got that culture. I wish I could grow up black and sure of who I am but I am stuck in a circle of confusion that I don’t know how to end. Look in the mirror girl. Look in the mirror at your light skin and watch as it melts before you. The gaze of their eyes is hot. You have privilege girl expect that you don’t. You don’t belong anywhere girl you are other. You are other of the others and no one wants that girl. Who do you think you are walking into this life like you own the place? Just because you got white in yo blood you think you better? Girl? I can’t scream any more. This smile I have painted melts and I’m not confident anymore I don’t know who I am or who I’m supposed to be. All I am is a girl, tired from being pulled apart at the seams to much but not enough. I’m not black enough to have culture. Not white enough to have privilege. Ill melt, and burn away from the heat. I play this confident role so well, but when the night runs through my veins I am truly left empty and tired. Who will I be tomorrow? Pick a mask girl. We have shit to do.

grew up a nerd with my best friend @uptownserge as lil kids then teenagers. studying commercial illustration & cartooning and hitting up comic book conventions to meet Frank Miller, Todd McFarlane, etc. I was going to draw comics. . . Then my world got rocked in HS when i found out my family wasn’t what i thought it was. I started cutting class, hanging on my block more with @o.boogy @leroe24fotos @inkredible_nes_o.g_authentic @brovaloww @gsantama77 @instajuanny194 @dyckman_drew and a buncha other non-instagram dudes, then i started messing with the streets heavy. . . This of course led to arrests, running from cops, street fights, etc., but i was also rapping at studios with @wilknoxberrios @chepeqbx while also awakening to my gifts like channeling, synchronicity, retaining info and then when a cop took it too far with me 1 day i fully awoke. . . Grinding for years with my S.P.I.K. Click and HSB in NYC then moving to LA and meeting folks like @marioxprins @pudgemental @lumis_james Convinced @dadaadelabu @o_phrap.mc @ajworks etc., opened my rap world up even more. August 1st

The new month brings new beginnings as they say but frankly nothing I feel in my heart has been new. I am dreaded with the heartache of my own unchangeable mistakes and the on growing anxiety chips its way through my body. It's to early for all of this and I don't quite know how to cope. You see when you love someone, genuinely and wholeheartedly it feels like you found something that was lost for 10 years and have been waiting to enjoy again. It feels like touch, a sensation that you've been craving, satisfied. But when you're thoughts take control, they can lead you to do stupid things, things that you don't want and you know that you don't want but you do it anyway because everyone says to "go with you're gut". My gut, was my downfall. The love that I felt turned into a sharp pain that even this new beginning cannot turn around. I'm learning however, slowly and carefully, to bring myself back to the top. Then maybe, by next August, I'll be whole again. For now I'll let my heart hang heavy with the rains. For they sing my song and ease my brain. Maybe then, by next August, I won't feel that pain.
