Hmmm horse facts. I could go on and on with these but a few fun ones:

-horses have a muscle that humans do not called the panniculus carnosus muscle which they use to twitch their skin and get bugs off

-horses lock one hind leg (and relax the other) to sleep standing up with very little muscle effort. sometimes the locking mechanism in the hind leg gets messed up, and it gets stuck locked up (fairly rare and can be fixed). standing sleep is less restful, but because they’re prey animals they don’t like laying down for long periods of time (they can’t get up very quickly). they only need deep, REM sleep for 4 hours a day.

-SUPPOSEDLY grass tastes like peppermints to horses

-“you can lead horse to water but can’t make them drink” is the most accurate horse saying I’ve ever heard

-“healthy as a horse” is a JOKE. they’re not healthy. they’re the most accident prone, delicate creatures in the world (which, if you look at the way their legs are built it makes sense why they’re so prone to leg injuries). whoever said that first was drunk or being intentionally ironic.

It's absolutely Alien (1979). My single favorite film of all time.

Alien is the OG. The one that started it all. A sequel was never really planned after Alien was released, only half-heartedly kicked around here and there until quite a bit later. All the magic -- of O'Bannon and Shusett, of Giger and Scott, of Vanlint and Whittaker, of the particular chemistry between every single member of the cast -- made it unique among all the others that it would eventually spawn.

If I had to pick a close second, I'd go with the directors cut of Alien3. I think the best sequel to the OG wasn't even a film, but the video game Alien:Isolation.

Mine ain't a popular opinion. Aliens (1986) is way more quotable. The Vs Predator movies have their own popcorn-munchy appeal. The "prequels" Prometheus and Covenant are... definitely films.

I could go on and show pics of me in the home-made Alien suit I went trick-or-treating in as a wee tot; link to my eulogy for H.R. Giger or to something I vomited once abt why Alien carries personal significance to me... but the guy at the end of the stage is pointing to his watch and giving me Meaningful Looks, so I'll shut up now.
