I’m sorry I have to rant here’s my falsettos rant (and this is not towards anybody, I’m not trying to be rude, this is just my opinion/observation)

I don’t like it when people sweep under the rug the AIDS portion of the show.

By that I mean mostly the jokes about it (“the show ends at what more can I say guys!! That’s the end!!”, “haha (insert Whizzer aids joke)”, “what do you mean Whizzer dies, they all live happily ever after and Marvin and Whizzer grow old together”)

And I won’t lie, I did it. I just recently got into the show and I did make those jokes- on one of my fics I got told to take down a Whizzer aids joke tag and I did, and it made me reflect on it

Because AIDS isn’t just a thing that the show made up- it isn’t just a “let’s kill Whizzer for shock factor” moment- it’s a real thing that real gay people had to go through for years. It’s a real tragedy. And I feel like when we joke about this kind of thing, we just make it worse for ourselves. It means something in this musical, and real life. It’s real and awful.

And I don’t wanna be the fun police obviously, I just want some people in this fandom to realize this aspect of the show.

So hlvrai2. Here’s my thoughts

Honestly I do think it’s a bit funny- we totally got bait and switched, and knowing RTVS this doesn’t surprise me.

I did have to stop watching. It did get a bit triggering bc of the cancer stuff. I didn’t quit because it wasn’t hl though.

You’re allowed to feel bad that you got conned, and that you were looking forward to it and don’t feel like you got it- but don’t fuckin harass RTVS, or spam their chat, or beg for Gordon to wake up (got triggering there too bc people kept saying unreality things in chat)- it’s a funny half life show it’s not that serious.

We’re probably gonna get a bit clowned on, I just hope mostly that we’re still allowed to continue on our merry old man yaoi way lol

I’ll probably watch the edited version!! I’m just not good at focusing on streams lol

Anyways I just wanted to share my thoughts- even though I’m not big in the fandom I still wanted to share

Friendly reminders this election night 

think positive. Worrying about the worst case scenario won’t help so try to avoid it, though I know it’s hard. Don’t let the negativity win, that’s what they want.

Staying up worrying about the live results won’t help. Thanks to mail in ballots many votes aren’t counted until after polls close, so don’t ruin your sleep schedule watching it. Thanks to the high number of early votes/mail in ballots/ absentee ballots, official results likely won’t be in until tomorrow morning anyways. 

Don’t forget about the red mirage. Which is the early influx of states going red right after polls close. This is due to the laws around mail in ballots, meaning they don’t get counted until later. And even when those votes are counted less populated and more red leaning areas are counted much quicker than blue more densely populated areas (the population color thing is just a common trend and not a sure thing of course) this is how Biden won in 2020

Also don’t forget about the silent majority which are voters not counted in previous polls or who don’t express who they  are voting for. This is how Trump won in 2016, he mobilized voters who did not previously plan to vote, making them a silent majority. This was also a result of the common belief that Clinton was an assured winner making Trump voters unwilling to vocalize their beliefs. Now though Trumps bigots are louder than ever, leading to a new silent majority, people who can’t safely express their blue vote, such as people in red states who would be in danger if too vocal (that’s me!) or the spouses that Harris’s campaign have been doing outreach too! 

I cannot stress this enough think positive and stay safe
