INCREDIBLY SIMPLE PROSCIUTTO-WRAPPED CHICKEN BREASTS
The air-fryer does it, friends! If you don’t have one you can still adapt to a regular oven, but I tell you, the texture and how easy it all happens is hard to beat. Ever since we invested in a model with a bigger basket, I’ve been using it all the time. PROSCIUTTO-WRAPPED CHICKEN BREASTS(from The Bewitching Kitchen) 3 chicken breasts, boneless and skinlessjuice of a lemonsalt and pepper to…

I can imagine Formaggio goes for the low hanging fruit of jokes about his team members names, like Prosciutto would just be tryina relax and eat his charcuterie board and by the time he gets to the meats, mf appears and says some shit like "HEHAH CANNIBALISM" and it ends with Prosci throwing him into the air fryer
I feel like prosciutto is just waiting for the slightest inconvenience to put all of his teammates into his airfryer and formaggio is at the top of his list.
He WILL make you old and crusty don't play with him

Can we talk about Trader Joe’s?
Can we talk about Trader Joe’s?
Can we talk about Trader Joe’s?
Can we talk about Trader Joe’s?
THERE IS ALMOST NOTHING I LOVE TALKING ABOUT MORE!
OKAY.
SO.
I’m at the point where the only thing I don’t buy there is ranch dressing (because I’m a Hidden Valley or Blue Coyote girl and they don’t carry it) and triscuits/wheat thins (because they don’t carry them BUT THEY USED TO have their version of a triscuit)…
Their spice blends are SO SO SO GOOD! PROTIP with the Everything But The Elote: use it on fresh buttered popcorn! (Also they have an everything but the elote dip in their dips/hummus area.)
As a single girlie, I love their salad kit bags. For $3-4 I get the greens and fixings and can try a new salad dressing without having to commit to a whole bottle, and they get changed up seasonally.
The vegan brioche loaf - OVER the non-vegan one. Trust me! We did a side by side taste test last November and the taste between the two was imperceptible (from me and another baker friend) but the vegan loaf held up better for us putting butter and jam where the non-vegan tore really easily.
I love their tamales! The ones in the fresh section are the next best thing to a homemade tamale, and I put a couple of tablespoons of water in the air fryer and toss them in there to cook! I haven’t gotten the frozen ones in a long time, but I wouldn’t question that they’re probably right on point with that level, too.
In their fresh meats, the boneless skinless Atlantic salmon is consistently a great cut of meat and reasonably priced for fresh fish. I’ve tried almost all their pre-seasoned/marinated fresh meats and they’re great. My top faves are the carne asada, the pesto chicken, and the whole spatchcocked lemon chicken. These are a bit pricier, but I get them now and then depending on what else is in my cart.
In the frozen section, people rave about the mandarin orange chicken, and that is 100% true, but I’ll also point you in the way of the buratta prosciutto arugula flatbread, the caccio e Pepe pasta, the steak and stout pies, the Jamaican style beef pastries, and the cauliflower gnocchi (and this in the air fryer).
If you’re an alternative milk girl: the almond macadamia and cashew nut blend? So good! And if you like a London fog tea, grab their blueberry lavender almond milk to pair with their earl grey!
They sell a shelf-stable heavy whipping cream, and if you’re a baker or occasional pasta sauce maker, this is a FANTASTIC thing to have in your pantry because you just have to toss it in the fridge a few hours before you want to use it.
They don’t sell it always all the time, but it comes in and out of stock, but I love their Syrah soaked cheese dip.
They rotate through seasonal boxed cakes. These are always delicious, but my favorites are the Meyer lemon and THE BLOOD ORANGE ONE!
I have favorites of their salsas, but they’re all different varieties so you can’t really go wrong, just pick based off the description for what your tastes are. I will say I also don’t love their tortilla chips. They’re fine, but not amazing.
Their sriracha? Yes. They have a $2 jar of sweet chili sauce? Perfection. They sell a cheap jar of tahini, which I love for when I occasionally think I’m in a mood to make hummus.
Their tomato-based pasta sauces are all good but I do love the spicy tomato one (it is SPICY). The ONLY Alfredo one I like is the lemon Alfredo - that one tastes like heaven and all the others taste like preservatives. They also just started carrying a lemon pesto and it’s delightful.
Snacks? Chocolate coconut almonds, honey cashews, chili lime flavored rolled tortilla chip things (they come in a pink bag but I don’t remember their specific name), their beef jerky.
Right now they also have (BUT ONLY SEASONAL FOR THE SUMMER) this Brazil nut body cream, a sugar scrub, and a shower gel. I have ended up with them ALL. AND BEEN GOING THROUGH MULTIPLE THIS SUMMER (well not the shower gel because that’s huge). Smell it and see if you like the scent, and then yes, top quality. I usually don’t go this hard for their body products. This specific line has bewitched me body and soul and I’m not quite sure what I’m gonna do when the summer season is over…
AND THE BEST THINGS ABOUT TRADER JOE’S? One: you can ask a crew member to open something for you to try. They will do it 100%. If you don’t buy it, they put it into their samples stock for the store or for the employees. Two: if you don’t like something, take it back and they’ll give you a refund or store credit. I’ve done this only three times - twice on foods and once when I got home and discovered that one of their baggers had put a poinsettia in a bag and then stuffed a ton of groceries in like normal next to it so when I got home there were two major stalks broken on the plant.
Also, I’m tagging @vonalyn and @honeystevie and @navybrat817 because they might be interested and @sgt-seabass and @rookthorne because they will probably enjoy giggling over my extreme/detailed nerdery here.
Field Guide to Forestry
We just hit another follower milestone, so since there are way too many of you around for me to put this off any longer, how about I officially let everyone know who I am and what you'll find around here...
CHIEF FORESTER: ASPEN Elder Millennial/upper 30s, she/her
THINGS ASPEN KNOWS WAY TOO MUCH ABOUT Trader Joe's, Disneyland, Disney World, the Great British Bake Off, CBS Survivor, Harry Potter, Houseplants
IN THIS FIELD GUIDE YOU WILL FIND:

↠ ASKS Always open. I adore asks! Send thoughts, thots, questions, gifs, pics... For now I'll take anonymous asks - as long as everyone plays nice, it'll stay that way. Asks are NEVER a bother and you can ask about anything - questions about my existing works, stuff I'm working on, fandom things, my life... I'll answer within reason (no spoilers, I'm semi-open about my life but do keep some things private, etc).
↠ REQUESTS The only thing I'm actively entertaining requests for is my Cedar Trees Royal AU collection - but even these will be fulfilled subjectively and only as I have time and muse cooperation. Periodically I may host a request fest (as I did for my 300 follower celebration or for other occasions in the future).
↠ TAGLIST At this point in the growing season, I'm not maintaining an official taglist. In the future I will probably set up a secondary/library blog as many other authors have done where you can follow and turn on the notifications. When I post follow-ups to specific stories, I may very likely tag individuals who have reblogged with comments because it's an ACTIVE INDICATION that they were invested, but even this is only going to be if I have the extra time to dedicate to that. ↠ HISTORY OF ASPEN I grew up in a family that was steeped in all things stories: grandparents, aunts and uncles always telling stories at family gatherings; parents read to me before bed; watching too many movies and cartoons; staying up way past my bedtime trying to sneakily keep the light on to read and read and read; playing elaborate imagination games after school with my best friends (house, princesses, orphans, dance coaches, etc). I wrote my first story in my eighth grade English class where one day in the computer lab we were assigned to write a mystery that was at least one page. I loved it. My teacher said it was good...
That summer our family moved - mere days before I started my freshman year of high school - so that fall before I made friend friends, I read a lot and I started writing. I was desperate for the next Harry Potter book to come out, so I started writing my own... the next year I learned about fan fiction on the internet and that it was a thing. I was drawn into Lord of the Rings fanfic, then I wrote a Pirates of the Caribbean fanfic, and then I went back to Harry Potter and actively wrote in that fandom for around six years.
In college I majored in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing because while I was writing fan fiction, I was also occasionally dabbling with original fiction... the dream was to be a famous writer.
↠ WHY BUCKETS-AND-TREES Buckets because I thought I'd be writing almost exclusively Bucky and Trees because Aspen. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
↠ ASPEN NOW Last summer I aggressively reclaimed HAVING hobbies in an effort to re-establish Aspen having a life outside of work. I love my career and I've worked incredibly hard to establish myself in the professional world, but... I needed to be more than just my work again.
So, again I write.
Throughout 2023 I'm participating in A LOT of challenges, but this summer I also AM GOING TO DO THE DAMN THING and write a novel. I've always intended to, but this is the year. ↠ MY WORK Primarily I'm writing MCU fan fiction - typically Bucky Barnes or Steve Rogers; but have a short series going for Namor; have written some pieces with Sam, Natasha, Matt Murdock, and Wanda; and I have ideas in the works for Thor, Carol, and M'Baku. There will be some occasional Harry Potter. I've written/may write more for Sebastian Stan and Chris Evans characters.
I write a range of fluff, smut, and dark. Nearly all of my work has mature elements whether that's stronger language, sexual situations, or mature themes. HEED THE WARNINGS FOR EACH WORK AND DO NOT READ IT IF IT'S SOMETHING YOU DON'T LIKE. If I miss tagging something properly in the content warnings, please send me a message or an anonymous ask and let me know.
Most of my stories feature a reader insert. Reader is typically female, but when gender neutral I will designate accordingly! Striving to also write an inclusive reader as much as possible, but if I stumble, please send me a message or an anonymous ask and let me know how I can grow.

Delicious Dinner for 300 Calories!
Delicious Dinner for 300 Calories!

Portobello “Steak” in Air Fryer – 4 Portobello Mushrooms – 2 tsp of Worcestershire sauce – 6 Tbsp of Calorie wise Balsamic vinaigrette dressing – 2 tsp of garlic First I mixed the ingredients in a casserole dish and brushed as much of the mix on the mushrooms as possible. Anyone know any recipes with crab sticks (artificial crab) in them aside from sushi rolls? I've gotten into making my lunch for work in the style of bento boxes lately, because it's usually easy and not too heavy. Especially in the summer. (Plus microwaveable meals are getting old.)
My sibling suggested an onigiri recipe, which I might try, if I can get sushi rice or short grain rice, but I'm trying to get more ideas. I already made my lunch for tomorrow: tuna and spaghetti pasta (kinda like a tuna casserole thing, but minus the use of an oven and I mixed in mayonnaise and a splash of lime juice - DELICIOUS) and a bocadillo. (Also called bocata. Learned the recipe from the Street Fighter cookbook, but I use prosciutto instead of serrano ham as I can't find it anywhere.)
I just need ideas for Saturday's lunch. Might delete later, as this is an art blog. But cooking can be considered a form of art, right?
Also I realize that some people probably don't like artificial crab, and I completely understand. I've had some that was really fucking sweet, in a really gross way. 🤢
EDIT
Should probably add that I can't just fry them. I only have an air fryer, and I have no idea how to use it. Also not in the mood for fried stuff.
#not art#cooking#bento ideas#none of my bento lunches look fancy btw#at least not yet#crab sticks#to be deleted later unless I forget
