Help Khalid Sisters in Gaza not to be Homeless

Hello Dear,

We, (Najwa, Jana, Farah, and Maryam), are the sisters of Shaheed Khalid Saed Ash-Shawwah, who was martyred on 07/31/24 along with Al Jazeera correspondent Ismail Al-Ghoul and his colleague, photographer Rami Al-Rifi . Khalid was our older and only brother and he was a great support for us and others. As you may heard Khalid’s story in the news, he was bombed while he was riding his bicycle coming back from delivering food to our old and injured neighbors.

Before the IDF forces killed our brother Khalid, they forced us to evacuate our house and left everything behind. They then destroyed our house and our father’s restaurant. We had to move at least 10 times since every new area we seek refuge to gets bombed.

Currently, the 4 of us and our parents, are living devastating and sad life in a bombed room in Gaza. It is extremely difficult for us to get the basic needs of food, water, and shelter.

We sincerely hope you can empathize with our dire situation and consider supporting us. We are raising funds in order to be able to pay the rising cost of basic necessities in north Gaza. Our family is large and the cost of survival in north Gaza is astronomical. If you have anything you can spare, we implore you to support us. From where you are right now, you personally can help save our lives in north Gaza.

"Hello, my name is Reem. I have created this fundraiser in hopes to save my family members from the ongoing crisis in Gaza. I am reaching out to you all in need of your support and assistance. This is my aunts story: My name is Intisar Abushammaleh and I currently reside in Gaza, Palestine. I am a mother of seven children. We once lived a normal life in a comfortable apartment, filled with dreams and aspirations. However, on October 7th, our world was turned upside down. We were forced to flee our home, which was destroyed moments after we left it. With no time to take even our clothes, we had no choice but to leave to spare our lives. We moved south to Central Gaza, only to be forced further south to Rafah as the war caught up with us. Now, we live in a tent, enduring extreme weather conditions with barely enough food and necessities to survive. Before the war, life was beautiful. I was the happiest mom on earth. My eldest daughter, Bshaer, married a wonderful man who worked as a nurse in Gaza. Tragically, her husband was martyred in December as he was collecting wood for his wife and family. She was newly married and pregnant with their first child. Their daughter, Ayla, was born two months ago, never having the chance to meet her father. I am now the breadwinner for this little angel Ayla, who lacks many basic needs, including necessary vaccinations. Our situation is dire, and Ayla’s chances of survival in Gaza are very slim. A senior UN official recently stated that Gaza has become a graveyard for children. Today, I am appealing to you for help. I need your support to keep my children alive and provide them with a chance for a better future. We will use this money to evacuate to Egypt to start rebuilding our lives and provide basic necessities such as medical needs, food, water, clothing, and shelter. Your contribution, no matter how small, can make a significant difference in our lives. Please help us survive and rebuild our shattered lives. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your kindness and generosity."

Every day in Gaza is uncertain. Supposed safe zones are attacked purposefully, and seemingly systemically, with how often places with large family's are staying get attacked. entire generations of Palestinians have died and are dying in a war they could've never chosen to participate in. condemning Israel expansion, condemning Hamas extremism, condemning all the tragedy and death you see or hear about cannot be enough. But i know that when words are all you have it's hard to keep up with everything.

Which is why, when you personally cannot donate for literally any reason; spreading campaigns, talking about Palestine, asking others on behalf of someone else if they can spend a little of their time and money; can mean all the difference.

And it's people with less that have done so much more for the Palestinian people. The rich and elite showing time and time again that they do not care enough to put their luxury experiences on hold. While for the working class in all countries, time itself is money. time spent at work; time spent at work and taking care of pets or children; time spent at work and time spent at home doing even more work (example: teachers). The tax of living is always spent. And mostly ever returned in small pieces of peace and happiness. the relief or satisfaction of meeting a deadline, seeing someone smile, laughing with friends and family. All these help get back that lost time.

Helping families in Gaza, in ANY way, could NEVER be "thankless work". Because every single person who contributes has the eternal thanks from the people you're helping even just a little bit. 1 person in a sea of many is 1 person that has helped. The numbers of donations on a fundraiser aren't just numbers. they're people. It's proof of people helping people right before your eyes.

THS IS A CALL THAT YOU CANNOT LOSE HOPE. For your sake, and for Palestinians, both in Gaza and the West Bank. If you've been depressed by every set back, every tragedy, and every lost life. Let this spur you on still. Look around you at all the people on this strange website that have chosen to help. that have spread campaigns or pledged to donate later because they can't now, that can't donate but still do what they can. Look at all these people. imagine them standing before you, thousands and hundreds of people, that say they're going to try anyway. You don't have to promise you'll try your best, because that's subjective. Very few can truly know what their best is, and we keep trying anyway.
