he’s  gathering  supplies  for  his  crew,  perusing  the  stalls  lined  up  one  after  the  other.  they  boast  of  fresh  vegetables,  fruits,  seafoods,  and  meats;  some  are  delicacies  he’s  only  read  about  and  have  never  had  the  pleasure  of  utilizing  in  his  dishes.  counting  what’s  left  of  the  budget  nami-san  so  generously  provided,  he  decides  there’s  just  enough  left  to  splurge  on  a  few  specialty  items.   

the  cook  pays  special  attention  to  one  stall  in  particular,  advertising  a  host  of  mushrooms  and  a live  demonstration  of  the  versatility  of  the  maitake.   it’s  a  little  pricier  than  what  he’s  seen  before ,  but  he’s  already  dreaming  up  the  different  dishes—  buttered  over  a  creamy  seafood  pasta ,  a  battered  and  fried  recipe  paired  with  sake ,  a  nice  warm  broth  with  miso  and  wakame.  the  options  were  endless !  

after  purchasing  and  maneuvering  his  way  through  the  crowded  path,  his  gaze  is  drawn  to  a  head  of  orange  hair  bobbing  through  the  crowd.  before  he  could  call  out  her  name,  his  shoulder  jostles  against  another’s,  nearly  losing  balance  of  the  box  of  groceries  under  his  arm.    turning  to  glance  at  the  stranger  and  mutter  his  apologies,   the  words  die  on  his  tongue—  it’s  like  looking  into  a  mirror !  

“  wh–  ”   it  must  be  a  trick !  a  mask  devised  by  usopp  or  franky.  it’s  the  only  option  he  can  think  of  because  the  person  he’s  staring  at  is  a  carbon  copy  of  himself.   maybe  if  he  looked  past  the  general  features,  he  would  spot  the  smaller  details  that  differed  between  them.   “  who  the  hell’re  you ??  ”

their  relationship  may  not  have  been  the  one  that  lasted  for  long.  but  she  did  care  about  nate  for  the  duration  of  the  time  that  they  were  together.  even  if  he  had  thought  she  didn't.   or if she made it difficult for the two to be able to be together. blair didn't  even  understand  herself  how  she  was  so  forgiving  towards  him  in  the  past  when  she  probably  should've  just  ran  and  cut  him  loose  back  then.  would  it  even  be  worth  giving  him  a  shot  now?  after  it  all?  he  left  her  for  his  own  reasons  to  begin  with.  blair  waldorf  was  not  the  type  of  girl  to  sit  around  and  wait  for  a  boy  to  decide  if  and  when  he  wanted  her.  or if they even LOVED her, for that matter. they  either  treated  her  well  or  they  were  gone.  when  it  came  to  nate,  it  was  surely different.  it  was  more  than  too  late.  wasn't it? then  again  ...  as she gave it more thought ... would  she  be  throwing  away  a  good  thing?  were  they  meant  to  be  this  time?  could  it  truly work out for real?  the  brunette  was  entirely  unsure  but  maybe  it  was  actually worth  a  shot.  it  must  be  the  nate  archibald  effect.  she  was  willing  to  give  one  more  chance , if anything.  if  this  was  the  last  one,  then  that  meant  no  more  would  come  after  this.  dorota  had  informed  her  of  a  guest  and  blair  looked  up  from  her  magazine  she  was  reading  and  told  her  to  let  them on up.  unknowingly,  to  her,  that  someone  was  about  to  be  nate.  ❛❛   i'll have you know that i'm very busy. so, whatever it is ... let's just get it over with now. ❜❜

ever since he could remember, nate's family had been controlling him. his every move. especially where it came to relationships and his relationship with blair. they had been together since they were kids and he had come to realize that it had been his parents who had wanted him with blair. so naturally he broke up with her because it didn't see it right that he should stay with her only because of his family. and that was true. but the minute blair stopped showing interest in him and in their relationship, he seemed to be having it for her. he felt like such a jerk for breaking up with her and realized now that he did love her but it was his family's business deals that crowded his judgment. he thought it was time to go to blair's and let her know how he truly felt. he just hoped it wasn't too late that he was confessing his true feelings for the only girl he's ever had them for.

Batman the Animated Series Riddler: Husband. 11/10, the reason I even got into Batman and the Rogues, why I'm here asdfghh. He can do no wrong, he still has done no wrong. Mockridge deserved to have sleepless paranoid nights for taking advantage of my amazing husband who would've have gone on and made amazing games had he not be mistreated....I love him a lot lol

Arkhamverse Riddler: Absolutely fucking brilliant, amazing love, love, love his character development. Definitely one of the best developments (not like...the best for him but writing wise) out of the entire series. It's so tragic, his fall from grace...and Wally's voice is perfect for him! He captures his radio/game show host voice but can also do moments of vulnerability right before picking his voice back up again, it's AH amazing.

Gotham Riddler: Ehhh...I've already griped about this show a bunch lmao, the way they've written the rogues is one of the huge issues I have with it. Ed is one of them. I almost stopped watching when I saw the split personality bs...just...AH. Reevesverse/Dano Riddler: ehh he's, he's okay. I can appreciate they had him fight for injustice (kinda like Arkham Origins, except Origins did it a wee better, just because it proved Ed's point that his knowledge and evidence was enough to make the system collapse more so than violence. Knowledge is more powerful than batman running around beating up henchmen) and I did like the cards, and I can appreciate the orphan take, but he is just kinda meh to me?

Gotham City Sirens Riddler: mmmm p.i. riddler my beloved asdfgghh love, love, love him. I know reformed riddler is a hit or a miss with some people, and I totally get it. But I adored him in this comic, it was nice seeing him doing better even for a minute. And my man's has rizz! And his relationship with the Sirens was super entertaining and endearing.

Zero Year/Capullo Riddler: Ahhh this asshole. I do sincerely enjoy him. I loved that this story showed what the Riddler is capable of (i know new 52 is garbage, but I do appreciate what Capullo/Snyder were doing in their run). I also just really, REALLY adore Capullo's style and his version of the Riddler just scratches an itch in my brain.

The War of Jokes and Riddles Riddler: asddfgh I hate this asshole. So much, it's almost a love to hate, dumb beef leprechaun looking motherfucker I swear to god. So dramatic and extra, but not even in a fun entertaining way lmao.

Young Justice Riddler: Baby boy, baby girl, can do no wrong, deserved better too. Much like BTAS, was absolutely robbed, we should've gotten more episodes. I will say his voice is absolutely jarring, but it grows on you the more you associate it with his design lmao

Telltale Riddler: AH PUZZLE GRANDPA!! lmao again, I dig how much of a threat they built him up to be. I love the different take on him being on older and established rogue. I also love his backstory or atleast the hints of it we get, it's intriguing and different.

Hush (DCAU) Riddler: asdfghj the fucking terrible twist aside...I do adore this design and voice for him. And yes, I do adore that just enough to try and write for him lmao.

Batman Forever Riddler: Listen, I love Jim Carrey, but the man gave me fever dreams. One of my core memories waking up at 3 am was not only to the music collection ads that'd play but also the random movies they'd play on TV. Batman Forever was one of them, and it overwhelmed the shit out of me. I woke up thinking I had some weird dream, but when I realized I wasn't totally losing it...ahhh yeah. Again, I can appreciate his inclusion, his take is absolutely iconic for sure. Just not for me.

Hush (comic) Riddler: Another excellent story about how compelling of a villain Riddler can be, I adore his design here too. If the animated version just kept what they had AHH

The Batman (2004) Riddler: I'm sorry, I adore Robert Englund voicing him, that was a neat surprise. And his backstory is so sad, but I just...not my fave design. I really can't get passed it. So sorry I know he's a favorite, but just not for me.

Batman '66 Riddler: I've only seen clips, gifs, and some episodes, but I adore this man. I don't write for him yet only because I don't know nearly enough. But I absolutely love this man and will praise him until the end of time. He's the reason we have the riddler suit. He's the OG. He's the goat.

Harley Quinn The Animated Series Riddler: As much as I'm not a fan of a bald Riddler, I fucking adore this Riddler. He's really witty and sarcastic, a man after my own heart. Gotham is overrun by rogues and this fucker opens a university? Of course, he would. I also adore him and Clock King, are you kidding me??

Spencer Reid was sure those were the worst words he’d ever heard anyone say. They cut through him like a knife, marring his already scarred heart. You said only a year, but all Spencer heard was that it would be 365 days without you—525,600 minutes without getting to hear your voice or see your joyous smile. There would be 3,714 miles between you where before he’d gotten to see you nearly every day.

It may have only been a year to you, but to Spencer it felt a little more like a prison sentence.

“I know, only a year,” Spencer answered, feigning a smile and complete excitement for you—because truly, he could not be more happy for you. This was the kind of job opportunity that only came around once in a lifetime; when Emily had offered you a year’s work with Interpol, he knew immediately that you had to take it. Still, the thought of letting his best friend go seemed impossible to bear. “I’ll miss you.”

“I’ll miss you too, Pen,” you told him, opening your arms to invite him in for a hug. Spencer didn’t always take these offers, but there’s no way he’d refuse now. Your hugs were a comfort and your arms his home—sometimes it felt like being right here, in your arms, was where he was meant to be all along. “You’ll have to write to me, okay? Keep me up on what’s going on around here.”

“I’ll write you a letter every month,” he promised, already calculating in his head how long it would take for a letter to arrive by post.

How are you enjoying London? I assume by now you’ve gotten settled in your new apartment and the new job. I know you can’t tell me a lot about the job so all I ask is that you tell me you’re being safe. Interpol isn’t quite like the FBI, is it?

It’s barely been a week since you left, but the team already feels different without you. I’ve caught Morgan multiple times going to tell you a joke and trying not to look too disappointed at your empty desk. When you get back there will be a lot of jokes to make up for, I think. JJ says she misses you and that if everything lines up okay, she’d like to take a week to come visit with Henry. I can’t imagine how much fun that would be, showing him around London.

I miss you. I can’t wait to hear all about how much you’re enjoying London. Penelope said she sent over a short list of the best sights to see before you start working, although I wonder what counts as short in this case.

You’re gonna worry this whole time, aren’t you? For the record, I am being safe because I happen to want to make it back to Quantico in a year. The people here seem okay, but they’re not the team. They’re so serious, which makes sense because they’re Interpol. Emily gets along with them all though, so maybe they just need to warm up to me or something.

It’s so dreary here in London, Pen. I think it’s rained or snowed nearly every day I’ve been here and I’m not certain the sun actually makes it up this way. It’s so busy here compared to Virginia, but I guess I’ll get used to that eventually.

Tell the team I said hello. I miss getting morning coffee with Penelope and I constantly look over for Morgan when I tell a joke too. JJ is always welcome and I’d love to have little Henry here. I think he’d really love seeing the Eye, though maybe JJ wouldn’t love that. You could come, too, you know, I’d love to see you.

Emily and I spent Christmas together, of course. I got to meet her new partner and though we tried cooking, it didn’t work out so well. We ended up scouring the city for a place open on Christmas and ended up at a pub. Fish and chips for a Christmas meal isn’t too bad. Dear Sunshine,

Happy new year! I loved the pictures of you and Emily on Christmas, I’m so glad you had someone to celebrate with. Although, I’ll be honest I missed our usual cheesy Christmas movie marathon (even if I didn’t particularly miss the movie options). This year I went over to Penelope’s and we made cookies all night. Her brother was supposed to come in for the holiday but a snowstorm cancelled all flights into the area, so we made our own fun.

Speaking of Penelope, she’s organizing our first team dinner since you left. She said new years should count as a missed holiday meal, which I’d argue that people really don’t have meals for the holiday so much as they drink, but what Penelope says goes.

Your temporary replacement started this month, too. Her name is Ashley Seaver and she’s a training agent. She seems nice enough, but obviously has a lot to learn. Rossi has a lot of faith in her so I will too. Do you remember when I joined the team? Gideon would always pair us together, it was like he always knew we’d be in l best friends. I hope you have good teammates there in London, though maybe not better than us.

I know what you’re going to say so I’ll preface this by saying we’re all fine. Someone has been stalking the team for months now, and they’re getting closer. We’ve been trying to find them but there’s just nothing to profile. It’s been so frustrating and on top of that Strauss doesn’t want us to abandon any cases to focus on this, even though this person seems to know everything about us. The only reason I bring this up is to make sure you know about it. I doubt they would come after you and Emily while you’re outside of the US, but just in case.

And what about you? When I got your letter, I almost got on the first plane to London. It was Hotch who told me to wait, that if you were hurt badly that you would tell me. Still, maybe next time lead with the fact that you’re okay now when you tell me you got shot on the job. I can’t lose you, you’re too important.

I reorganized the apartment last week. Remember saying that the window seat would make the perfect reading nook? You were right, as always. It feels a lot more cozy now and a lot less cluttered—I took your advice and donated a few books I hadn’t read in years so others could enjoy them the way I once had. It’s beautiful, isn’t it? Getting to share stories with perfect strangers, having this connection in the form of a story you both loved even though you two would likely never meet.
