May 19th is Agender Pride Day!
Here's some facts about agender!
Agender typically means being genderless, without a gender identity, or gender-neutral. (But different agender individuals can have different descriptions for themselves.)
The agender identity falls under the nonbinary umbrella and (sometimes) the transgender umbrella.☂️
Agender people can have any preference for pronouns, but some prefer to avoid using gendered language when referring to themselves. Agender individuals can also present in any gender expression, masculine, feminine, both or something completely beyond the binary.
Agender people can (but don't have to) experience gender dysphoria.
Agender people can be of any sexuality and should not be confused with being asexual. (Although you can be agender and asexual/on the ace spectrum.)
Agender people can be of any romantic orientation too!
Aaand here's a few books with agender characters:
● A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers
● The Heartbreak Bakery by A.R. Capetta
● The Left Hand of Dog by Si Clarke
● Werecockroach by Polenth Blake

PATHOWOGEN DISCORD SERVER AWARENESS
So I don't really know how to make these but I feel like it's important. The Pathowogen Server is a furry server held by Emperor Frenzy, found on Youtube under the name Pathowogen Empire More under the cut
So I must start with the fact I have anger issues, I am working on that and I can "blow up" quite easily. Anyway, I'm a semi active member of the server, mostly posting art there. Today an announcement was made showcasing a sister-server made for trans awareness
Tumblr media
I thought that was a great idea ! As a trans person myself, I wanted to share about my identity ! I am genderfluid and I want to explain what genderfluidity is !
So I join and.... record scratch there is gender euphoria channels.... only for trans FTM and trans MTF. Like the names were "Trans women euphoria" and "trans men euphoria". Finding this a little odd I pointed it out. To which an admin said "on it" then I see it. "Non binary and genderfluid euphoria" (I don't have screen for these as I left the server, sorry)
And also the only pride flag they were praising was the generic trans flag, pink, white blue. There is nothing wrong with that ! But if you're making an "awareness" server there should also be other gender identities that are represented such as Non Binary, Agender, Genderfluid, Demiboy, Demigirl etc...
So I left the server. I didn't want to be a part of it. Soon later the owner sent me a DM and... here is how the conversation goes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
calling bringing up the lack of awareness the "smallest shit" when it is something big and also trying to excuse it because the "Non binary and Genderfluid channel was made by a trans woman" I COULDNT CARE LESS IF IT WAS A TRANS WOMAN, SHE IS NOT NON BINARY OR GENDERFLUID
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh wanna know the best thing? FRENZY IS A CIS MAN, HE IS NOT EVEN TRANS
Tumblr media
So let me get this straight, this cisgender guy wanted to make a "trans awareness" server but when a trans person under an identity that is misrepresented speaks up suddenly it's a "small shit" that isn't a "big deal"
Then they show me that his server (which are mostly kids btw) "agrees with him so I'm overreacting". Then blocked me
Tumblr media
Anyway, don't support the Pathowogen Server or Frenzy. While I'm at it, I should also discuss one of their 15yo moderator tried to enter MY 18+ SERVER AND WAS NOT DEMOTED WHEN I BROUGHT IT UP
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(still mod until today even though I have warned they attempted to enter an 18+ space while being 15 so probably endangering minors too)

I honestly wish I was a writer, because I’m sick and tired of not being represented. 🙃
Everyone’s always like “You can write! Write what you want to see!” And first of all, no baby I can not write. I have ADHD and my brain goes all hee hoo when I want a coherent thought. Second, I shouldn’t have to learn every skill on the planet just to see people like me represented. Especially when y’all get it for free.

This year, I went to two local pride events. It was great, but in both events I noticed something: there was almost no aromantic representation. There were plenty of flags for sale, as well as colored merch and stickers, encompassing a wide range of identities. Not ONE of them was aromantic. The flag banners they'd put up, with a bunch of different LGBTQ+ flags? No aromantic. However, there was an asexual flag as well as other items for sale, which was part of the reason I was surprised by the lack of aromantic flags and other merchandise.
I'm not saying the asexual representation is bad; it's great! It's the lack of representation for aromanticism that is problematic. I'm aroace. I was pissed as HELL because I felt that half of me was underrepresented. I can't imagine how excluded allosexual arospec folk would have felt to know that they had all but been completely erased. The A in LGBTQIA doesn't just stand for asexual; it's for aromantic and agender (which I also noted had no representation) too.
The only mention of aromanticism at all in both pride events was a brief, easy to overlook touch on it at a few stalls. Pride is meant to be inclusive to all. To ALL. Not ALLOROMANTICS ONLY. ALL.
I'm aromantic. I'm not just ace. It took me years to figure out that I was also aromantic, but it doesn't actually make a difference. If I can only find my asexuality shown at pride events then things need to change.
I am aromantic. I'd like for that part of me to be represented. I DEMAND that part of me to be represented.

Some GO fans: Neil Gaiman not writing Aziraphale and Crowley as explicitly male and sexual is queer baiting and homophobic 😡😡😡
Fans who are asexual, nonbinary, agender, etc: well I guess we should just jump in a fucking volcano then

He has always been open about this. Here's a quote from an interview about it:
“Back during the Ocarina of Time days, I wanted Link to be gender neutral. I wanted the player to think ‘Maybe Link is a boy or a girl.’ If you saw Link as a guy, he’d have more of a feminine touch. Or vice versa, if you related to Link as a girl, it was with more of a masculine aspect. I really wanted the designer to encompass more of a gender-neutral figure. So I’ve always thought that for either female or male players, I wanted them to be able to relate to Link.” source: https://time.com/4369537/female-link-zelda/

There are more LGBTQA+ people nowadays than there were before, but it has nothing to do with it being a "trend" or being a "choice" like homophobes/transphobes convince themselves, it's literally because of population.
In 1950 there was 2.5 Billion people in world population, we just hit 8 Billion. There's literally more of EVERYBODY now than ever because there's never been this drastic of a spike in population before.
So yes, there are more of us, but it's because of population, not because we're following some "trend".
Your child is actually non-binary.
Your child is actually asexual.
Your child is actually queer.
The easiest thing in the world should be loving and accepting your child.

It feels like it's impossible to find anyone talking about romantic relationships with nonbinary people. We're so commonly talked about in terms of sex, but there's so little content involving anything loving twords an enby. I guess all our ideas are so gendered around romance it's very hard for people to imagine romance with someone who isn't gendered like that. I want to hear about people falling in love with enbies, about people kissing enbies, about staring into nonbinary eyes, about cuddling nonbinary bodies, if it's fiction I want to hear about the darker stuff too. I realize this might be why I always hated romance, because it involves performing roles I never want to perform. Even queer romance seems so deliberately designed to make sure same sex couples are as traditionally gendered and both gender conforming as possible. I know not everyone is attracted to us, it's ok if you're not. I just really want to see something.

I haven't seen any poll blogs specifically for queer ships (canon or headcanon), so I thought I'd give it a try.
You don't have to know the characters/media to ship/not ship them. Feel free to go by vibes.
You can submit ships here (asks are only for questions!) :
List of submitted and posted ships with poll data:
Rules:
- only queer ships (whatever queer means to you)
- you can submit both canon and headcanon ships (but if it is headcanon, please explain in your submission)
- you can submit crossover ships
- you can submit platonic ships (please indicate this in your submission!)
- you can submit poly ships
- ships with under 1000 votes can be submitted again
- if the ship is m/f and one or more people in the ship are trans, please indicate so in the form (as I will not include cis allo m/f ships)

An example of why LGBTQ+ representation in media matters, especially children's media.
As a child I didn't know LGBTQ+ people existed. There were no queer people in my family, or in family friends. (At least, that I was aware of) I remember one time we went to the library and there was an educational table set up outside with information about pride. I asked my mom what all the rainbows were for. I don't remember what she said, other than I remember her mentioning one of my older brother's friends who apparently had two moms. I was very little. I forgot about that conversation and was no more aware of queer people.
I don't remember seeing queer characters in media. The first time I can remember seeing LGBTQ+ people depicted in anything was in the music video for Avichii's "Addicted to You" the plot of the music video follows a pair of female robbers who are explicitly in a romantic relationship. I was absolutely fascinated by this music video when I saw my brother watching it. I was eleven. This music video follows a lot of the common queer TV tropes. The women are criminals, the "bad guys" and they die in the end. But this was the first time I can remember seeing lesbians.
Even as a teenager, I don't remember seeing much LGBTQ+ characters in media. I was intrigued when the token gay side character would show up in a TV show, but that wasn't really representation. I still knew nothing about queer people. A boy in my art class came out to me as trans. The exact words he used were "I'm a trans guy." and I legitimately didn't know if that meant ftm or mtf. I accidentally misgendered him once because of it.
In my early teens, I said some pretty ignorant things. Luckily just to my family, but still. It wasn't until I started questioning my sexuality in my late teens that I actually started to learn anything about the LGBTQ+ community. I did a lot of research, not all related to figuring out my sexuality, just about LGBTQ+ experiences and identities. I watched videos by LGBTQ+ YouTubers, listened to podcasts, read articles, all by queer creators.
I especially made a point of understanding transgender people, because that was something at the time that greatly confused me. So I looked for videos, podcasts, articles etc, made by transgender people themselves where they talked about their feelings and experiences. It made a huge difference. I wasn't confused anymore, I couldn't relate to how they felt, but I had understanding and empathy. I went from confused and unaware, to understanding and supportive. Just from a bit of research.
But even at this point, there was still little to no LGBTQ+ media representation. When I came out at 18 and felt comfortable picking movies focused on queer characters, I had a heck of a time finding any. I did find some, and while a lot of them weren't great, I did find a few really good ones. (Saving Face and Late Bloomers are two of my favourites)
Things are getting better, slowly. We're starting to see more media focused around LGBTQ+ characters, and children's media including the topic. It's long overdue and we're still not quite there yet. You're gonna have a hard time finding media focused on LGBTQ+ characters that aren't white, able bodied gay, lesbian, or bisexual characters. Representation for trans, non binary, asexual and aromantic identifies, queer people of different ethnic and cultural backgrounds, religious queer people, and disabled queer people, and any combination of the above, is still lacking. We still have more work to do.
Having these kinds of shows and movies would have made a big difference for me growing up, and it will make a big difference for thousands of other kids who are growing up right now.
This isn't a negative post to complain about the lack of media, it's an example of it's importance and optimism for the future. I do believe this will continue to get better, however slow that may be. This is just my little reminder of why it needs to.
I hope anyone who reads this is having a good day. You're valid and loved, no matter who you are. Stay safe.

My aromanticism and asexuality HIGHLY affects my gender.
I refuse to be seen as a member of either of the binary genders.
I refuse to be seen by society in relation to a woman if I was a man, and I ESPECIALLY refuse to be seen in relation to a man if I was a woman.
I refuse to be perceived and assumed and ENFORCED to be someone who exists as a love interest to men just because I was a woman. Vice versa.
In this world, women exists to love and reproduce with men and men exists to love and reproduce with women.
I don't want to be reduced as a love interest or a partner.
I denounce that.
Therefore, I have no gender.
In fact, i just don't want to be perceived at all.
In fact, I don't wanna be human at all.
It's tiring.
