"when i was your age, i was working three jobs to help support my family" and "when i was in college i was sleeping on a mattress on the floor and living off of soup"
YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE HAD TO DO THAT. NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO DO THAT. I DON'T KNOW HOW TO EXPLAIN TO YOU THAT THIS ISN'T A CHARACTER-BUILDING LESSON, IT'S JUST BAD

Anyone else think a lot about how at the end of canon, Lan Wangji has had time to mature for 10+ years into a guy in his mid-30s, but Wei Wuxian still has the life experience and general maturity of a war-traumatized early 20-something?
Because like. Wei Wuxian died young and he died tragically, and everyone who was around him then that's still there after he's resurrected has gotten to live their lives. They got to mature. They've had 13/16 years to heal (or not heal -_-) and learn who they are. To become fully realized adults outside of the pressures of war. And Wei Wuxian hasn't had that. If you believe MXTX's interview that circulates on this site sometimes, he spent those 16 years in a suspended state of agony. And even if you don't believe that, he was still dead. Non-existant.
For Wei Wuxian, the war is fresh. The pain is fresh. He has no idea what's doing because he's barely an adult, if admittedly a highly skilled one for his age. The world has moved on around him and he has stayed in place. What does he do with that?
Wei Wuxian had no choice but to pretend that he's moved on, too, because that war that took so much from him was almost two decades ago, now. The Wen Remnants have been dead for over 10 years. What use is it to dig up old hurts? Except, those hurts are still hurting him.
When he died, Wei Wuxian was helping care for Lan Sizhui. Wen Yuan. When he died, Lan Wangji raised A-Yuan with the Lan. If Wei Wuxian was dead for 13/16 years and A-Yuan was 3/4 when he died, then Lan Sizhui is about his age, or very close to it.
This is the child he was raising. This child is now his peer.
Wei Wuxian has memories of war and tragedy, but no one to talk to. The juniors, who are closest to him in relative age, haven't known war, and everyone who has known it has moved on. He's trapped between generations, and that has to be so incredibly isolating.
Jiang Yanli, the Wen Remnants, Wen Qing of particular note, all of them died shortly before he did. Did he ever really get to grieve them? Will he be allowed to now? Especially with his reputation. Especially with the number of people who would really prefer him to simply leave the past in the past. Especially with all the people who think he is the cause of the deaths he wishes to grieve.
Will he be allowed to mourn, if the cultivation world thinks these deaths are his fault? Or that these people don't deserve to be grieved?
Wei Wuxian has the misfortune of being a man who is a decade out of time, and he will have to learn to cope with that, but how does he account for the missing years? When the pain is still fresh for him, how does he find a place in a society that has long since moved on?

The Great Shift: Turning 30
The Great shift was a huge time in many peopleā€™s lives. Especially those with birthdays who fell around the time of the great shift. Some turning 18, others turning 80! But still others had their hearts set on a time in their life that was quite pivotal. However, because of the shift some may have to wait a little longer to reach that milestone, while others have jumped leaps and bounds beyond it!
Harvey Singh (30 years old)
Fuuuck my headā€¦ and my clothes apparently. Damn. This is not what I imagined turning 30 would be like!Ā
Tumblr media
Before the world went insane, I was so close! The damn great shift just had to happen right before my birthday. I was working at this law firm, a pretty shady place at first. Lots of scummy people taking advantage of others, but my boss was trying to turn it around! We kicked out those idiots who were causing trouble, got them arrested! I was gonna get promoted and help lead the charge for helping othersā€¦ but not anymore.
The great shift landed me inside of Skyler Marlo! 18 year old quarterback for the local university. And right after a big party too. I couldnā€™t find a stitch of clothes to fit my new larger body. I was really lucky this frat house I woke up in had a towel nearby. But that was just the beginning of my nightmare.Ā
Tumblr media
You see that smile of distress? Yeah thatā€™s me. Instead of writing briefs and taking on clients in need, Iā€™m here on the football field. Apparently after the upheaval the shift caused people are having trouble verifying identities and gaining access to their property/funds. Thatā€™s totally something I could be helping with!Ā Instead I'm stuck back in the life of a teenager again. I wasn't a big fan of 18 last time I was in college.
The only thing that could get me after the shift was taking on this guyā€™s college scholarship. It gives me a place to stay and access to their college library, but I had to join the college football team. Some organizations like college athletics donā€™t seem to care who is shifted or not! As long as they got the players they need to draw in a crowd, they seemed perfectly content letting anyone play. Though who can blame them. If they saw me before I doubt theyā€™d want some angry short king running their drills. Noā€¦ now Iā€™m not the 5ā€™0 Indian guy who got overlooked in school. I look the picture of boy next door prom king that rules the college. 6ā€™2, 195lbs of lean muscle, and size 15 feet. That last one took awhile to get used to! Finding cleats that size was the hardest part of this change.Ā
So here I am, sweating it out day after day to maintain my scholarship, while I wait for the day Iā€™m recertified with my stateā€™s bar! Once Iā€™m a lawyer again I swear Iā€™ll help out others like me forced to cling on to new lives while the system sorts things out. It sucks having to practice every day and do all these drills and grunt work! The college even has me posing for their promotional material to draw in bigger crowds at the game! Who would want this kind of life?!
Then againā€¦ itā€™s already been a few monthsā€¦ I may as well get used to college lifeā€¦ I was a nerdy brown kid my last run in college, mostly studying and doing what my parents wantedā€¦ now at least I can get a look at how the athletes livedā€¦ That frat did ask me if I wanted to joinā€¦ I guess it couldnā€™t hurt to have a little fun while I wait to get my life back.
After all, I do get pretty excited after an intense practice, and judging by some of the looks from my teammates, I may not be the only one eager to get to know my new body better.Ā
Phil Inver (30 years old)
People need to learn how to relax. I donā€™t know what the big deal is. So a bunch of people swapped bodies. Whatā€™s there to worry about? See me? I donā€™t have a care in the world. When I was turning 30 doctors told me I was overweight and at risk of diabetes, my work would always be on me for not applying myself, and my girlfriend said I was always too lazy in our relationship!Ā
Tumblr media
But my mindset since the shift hasnā€™t changed! It landed me in this nice smooth and lean body! Iā€™m glad that this guy kept in such good shape. Having actual abs is insane! Same for these toned arms! Iā€™m not sure if heā€™s the shaving kinda guy or if heā€™s naturally smooth, but it sure as hell beats taking care of an unruly beard and body hair!
Turns out now that I look like this people are a bit more receptive to my ideals! Doctors say my heart is as healthy as a horse! Says my stress free lifestyle is a large part of that! My work? They now say my chill attitude makes things a lot more zen around the office. Guess they donā€™t care I donā€™t get too much done whenever I flash them a smile. And my girlfriendā€¦ or my boyfriend as he goes by now, certainly thinks Iā€™m taking an active role in the bedroom. Who knew that my new stud of a boyfriend had a thing for Asian guys!?
So what am I gonna do now? Listen to music, chill as my boyfriend showers, and wait out the day as normal. Sure Iā€™m turning 30, but itā€™s just another day in paradise for me! Oh whatā€™s that? This body is only 21? Even better! Iā€™ve got plenty of time to relax before I turn 30.
Devon Lin (30 years old)
So I was a bit nervous about turning 30. I feel like I havenā€™t really done all the things I wantedā€¦ and all my friends were joking saying itā€™s all downhill after that. I wasnā€™t dealing the best with the stressā€¦ Well like it or not the shift had me face that hurdle a few year further than I expected.
Tumblr media
And I gotta say. Itā€™s not as bad as I thought it was gonna be. Sure Iā€™m a bit older, but hellĀ  I look a hell of a lot more manly! Could it be that the shift landed me in a handsome 37 year old with a built body, tan skin,Ā  and perfect beard? Maybeā€¦ but hey. Age is just a mindsetā€¦ but these muscles sure arenā€™t! Boom!
You like that? So do the guys at the bar! They keep insisting I donā€™t shave my chest or pit hair too. I think I could pull off that look. That being said, I think anything looks good on a 6ā€™5 stud like me. Tall, dark, and handsome all the way!
Before I would jump around from job to job. Bartender, janitor, waiter, and housekeeper, but lately Iā€™ve found my job as a bouncer at the local bar a lot more rewarding. Youā€™d be surprised how many fights stop once I take my shirt off and start playing pool with the patrons. Iā€™ve won nearly every game of billiards Iā€™ve played! Though I have the sneaking suspicion it may be due to the guys staring more at me than the balls.
Guess thatā€™s one of the benefits to working at a chill gay bar! You know, I was always a bit insecure about my body and experimenting sexually. Being a shorter gay man with a chip on his shoulder would do that to you. Nowā€¦ well letā€™s just say now I feel like Iā€™ve got a lot more confidence! I may have missed my 30th birthday, but I think I know how Iā€™m gonna spend my 38th!
Marcus Garcia (30 years old)
They say when you get older you begin to value things differently. Honestly I didnā€™t know what to expect when I turned 30. Was I supposed to be wiser all of a sudden? Have a plan for things? In truth plenty of people younger than me had their life together compared to me. Partners. Kids. A stable job. A house.
In short. I thought I had more time. But we donā€™t always get to choose how fast life comes at us. I mean look at me. Didnā€™t expect the shift to make me 55.
Tumblr media
Losing 25 years of my life was definitely not the easiest. The great shift nearly tears the world apart and Iā€™m running for my life looking like retirement is right around the corner. That first day was definitely a wake up call that I did not have the same stamina that I used to. In that opening week of the shift I was pretty much running on adrenaline and coffee wherever I could get it. I took lots of naps just to stay sane.Ā
As the days went on and society slowly readjusted to some version of normal, I began to actually have time to look at my body. I mean I was a pretty skinny guy before, my sister would always say I needed to workout more. But I guess all it took was 25 years of my life to finally get in shape.Ā
Not only that, but Iā€™m admiring the body hair. This guy was a pretty hairy dude. The salt and pepper stubble had guys starting me daddy at the gay bars, while the chest hair was still dark like my eyebrows and made my impressive physique pop.Ā
My feet were pretty big too. Size 14! Twice as big as my old feet, but just as hard to find shoes my size.Ā
Needless to say there were highs and lows to my new life. Was I happy that i was 6ā€™6 now? Sure! Loved being tall and nearly bonking my head on doorframes. Was I upset lots of my joints were sore and that I could only take my coffee black to avoid dairy and sugar? Noā€¦ that sucked. I liked my sweet drinks and I missed not waking up in pain.
Tumblr media
Omar LeRon was a guy that lived along my street. He was a single dad raising his 5 year old, all at the age of 45.
I later learned he had a few wild days in his early 40s that lead to Omar Jr. And now in his mid 20s again heā€™s glad he could be more present for his son! Even if his son is the same age as him now.
He told me all of this one day when we both left our house for a jog. He found that doing some running in his new body helped him vent some much needed energy from his body, while I needed to do something physical if I was to have any hope of maintaining healthy workout routines for mine!Ā
Needles to say he offered some words of wisdom growing up and it really helped put some things in perspective. Meanwhile, I gave him some tips about helping his son. Turns out all those years working at my auntā€™s day care counted for something, even for post shifted kids!
Our conversations started as friendly advice and then grew into more! Talks became dates. Dates became moving in. Moving in became an engagement! Now a few years after the wedding I guess you truly can call me a daddy now. Jr. sure does. Heā€™s doing great in school and is looking forward to next week when my sister is gonna watch him for the summer.
My husband and I are gonna take our first real vacation since the great shift! Weā€™re looking forward to it! Weā€™ll be celebrating Omarā€™s 30th birthday in his new body now! He keeps making jokes saying, ā€œWell Iā€™ve done it before. Nothing to it the second time around.ā€ And ā€œWell here I thought your 30th birthday was extreme. I doubt I could top thatā€
He also never stops teasing me about how he loves being married to an older man and that Iā€™m not as young as I used to be. We know itā€™s all in good fun. I mean, I can still keep up with him in the bedroom, where it countsā€¦ as long as he gives me a few minutes to recover after. Young guys like him are insatiable. Iā€™ll try to power through though. After all, you only turn ā€œ30ā€ once.

Danny as a Historical Badass
So, I'm sure you have all heard at least one story about those Badasses in History, the ones who are basically Legends at this point, right?
Like Simo Hayha, the White Death. The legendary Finish Sniper who managed to get 505 Confirmed Kills in less than 100 days, and an additional 200 kills with a Sub Machine Gun.
Or Mad Jack Churchill, the Craziest Commando. The guy who went to War with a Bow and a Broadsword, inflicting the last Archery Fatality in British Military History. He and his single partner also managed to raid a Village and capture 44 unsuspecting Soliders.
I want Danny to be seen in history in the same way they were.
If we go with the AU where the events of the Show happened in the Early 1900's, Danny would reach Eligibility just in time for both World Wars.
I want one of the Batfamily Members to run across a Video online of "Roman Helmet Guy" on Tiktok talking about Danny with that Badass Music in the Background.
Like, Danny is known as the Insane Solider of WW1/WW2. The guy who somehow managed to capture entire Platoons singlehandedly. The Guy who raided Enemy Camps in the Dead of night and managed to capture High Ranking Commanders on his own. The Guy that survives life threatening wounds like it's nothing MULTIPLE TIMES, and is somwhow back on the battlefield within the hour.
Some people speculate that he was an early Metahuman, but nobody can confirm because he hasn't been seen in decades. Some people.think he must be dead by now.
And then the Batfam member does a double take because, That's Old Man Danny.
Thats the old guy who runs their favorite Cafe. He must be well over 100 years old by now, but he looks like he's in his early 70's.
And doesn't Alfred frequent that Cafe?
Yes, he does. Alfred and Danny are old War Buddies.
Idk where this is going, I feel braindead right now.
I just wanted Danny to be seen as a Historical Legend because I was binging 'Roman Helmet Guy's videos and thought of this.
Wait, wasn't Diana in WW1? Like, in the movie at least she fought in WW1, so what if she met Danny during that time? What if she wasn't the only one to rush into No-Mans Land during that action scene in the Movie?
Diana shows up in Gotham and just says, "Oh no need to worry, I'm just visiting an old Friend."
Also, I recommend watching videos on Simo Hayha, he is such a badass.

JnJ really said ā€œGolfball is a billion+ years oldā€ and we as a community have not acknowledged that NEARLY enough. Sheā€™s implied to be an ancient Yoyle-City dweller, has been researching the land of Goiky for at least a billion years, and probably has some sort of memory loss if that flashback at the science museum is any indicator. Thereā€™s concepts we can play with here guys

Maybe you could call it Reunited Stans AU?
Also, how do you think the gravity falls locals would see those two? I think Ford would end up getting out of the cabin much more because of Stan. Maybe you could draw them going to town for drinks? I don't know.
I like to think the town locals would either be horrified of them and talk about them as cryptids in their own right, or just be annoyed by their shenanigans
Tumblr media
I just remembered theyā€™d be in their early 20s when coming to Gravity Falls haha
But yes theyā€™d definitely start out as ā€œthose weird twins that live in the forestā€ but once Stanley starts feeling like heā€™s actually safe from that old life Ford pulled him out of, he starts going into the town, which then leads to him dragging Ford along
Itā€™s probably a mix of both, where the town sees them as those odd guys and then also get annoyed by what they do, but also I think theyā€™d think of them as a new endearing staple of their town once the whole ā€œnewcomer / strangerā€ title fades from them. Itā€™d be sort of the same way Stan is in canon with the Mystery Shack, where even though people find him annoying, they also always come to the events.
Also Stanley šŸ˜ your brother does not wanna be in that bar, let him go do nerd things

Prompt 134
One of the young justice members is complaining about how their parents or mentors benched them after getting injured.Ā
And Marvel snorting and saying that that reminds him of Phantom. And of course, the YJ crew, ask who that is.Ā
ā€œOh Phantoms my big brother, pops never really understood our human halves or limits soā€¦ā€ and he just shrugs like he didnā€™t just drop Lore. And the teens smell blood in the water, they want to know more.Ā

further elaboration: did you, in general, wear sunscreen when you were playing outside for extended periods of time, particularly in the summer? were you generally forced to put it on by parents, guardians, or camp counselors? maybe you didn't wear it every time or avoided it for like, texture reasons, but like, most of the time.

I donā€™t give a shit what a bitch does in their dr as long as itā€™s not harmful to anyone. Change your race, age yourself down/up, change your gender, do or donā€™t script out certain things, I donā€™t care. Not my reality, not my problem.
