Here's a test-sheet vs final that you may not have seen, and one of the initial sketchbook pages that goes with. This was my fav commission of last year

Test sheets always feel a bit like the portrait of Dorian Gray... They contain all the mistakes, angst, cussing, internal screaming, etc. But they also store all the learning. I return to them many times to remember how I did things.

Test sheets are also the part of a commission that I get to keep. Sometimes I put them on my wall next to a print of the finished work. They remind me that even drawings that start out looking like they were made by a hangry toddler on a rollercoaster... Usually turn out good at the end 😂

Not a whole lot of story here, just a glorified picture dump! Behold: Small isopods on a train track set my sister (@whatevenisavalidname) spent like an hour and a half building. Three levels and taking up the majority of our playroom floor, behold the majesty.

First set of pictures just to establish the full scope of this thing. It is so huge I could not get it all in one shot, so you get four.

All the lil guys patiently waiting their turn! On the top we have Kitsune, Carapace, Isolotl, and Demi, on the bottom we have Kiki, Melon, Princess, and Agaric!

First picture we've got Seafoam and Iggy riding on their train, and the second one has Kushina, Minato, and Naruto on a train set in the foreground, and Sooty on the bridge in the background!

First picture has Squishy in the foreground and Cosmic barely visible in the background on the red train. Second picture is a better angle for Cosmic on a red train.

Closer up on Sooty leaving the bridge and getting ready to go down the little hill. Second picture has Lepus and Queen Bee on their train with some of the isopods waiting in the background.

Agaric and Kitsune leaving to take their turn on a train while Squishy joins those waiting. Second picture is them after a bit of a ride.

Seafoam and Iggy coming in, and Isolotl and Demi leaving on that same train! How good of them to be taking turns. Very polite.

Melon, Kiki, and Princess on one train going over a bridge, and Carapace coming out from under it! And the second picture is Melon, Kiki, and Princess a bit later on the track, as is the third picture.

Seafoam got on another train on the first and second picture, and Kitsune and Squishy are going for their own little ride for the third!

Cosmic and Iggy together on another train, and looks like Lepus got on the red train!

Sooty and Queen Bee on another train, plus Naruto, Minato, and Kushina on their own set with other isopods barely visible in the background.

Isolotl and Demi on their own train, and a very fuzzy picture of Sprinkles on another one.

Saying thank you to all of the trains! Very important to say thank you so they might let them return!

Sorry that this has gotten...sporadic, but in my defense, college. And I'm forgetful. Oh well. But here we go! Some babies playing in the autumn leaves! Since we have all of these pretty leaves, might as well use em. And they're fun to play in.

Everyone jumped in as soon as I was finished with the pile, finding the leaves quite comfy and fun to chill in. Dragon would have come, but uh, there was a situation...(I dropped her and somehow her eye broke off??? trying to work out how to repair it)

We found a ladybug and got some adorable pictures with it. Featuring Ladybug with an actual ladybug. Very cute.

They're trying to help make the pile a little taller, even if it doesn't work too well. They're a little too small for it.

Having more fun in the leaves! Burying and hiding and just having a grand old time. Good thing you don't need overly much leaves for a pile big enough for several isopods to hide in.

We're going to play a game! Hide and seek! Squishy's gonna seek and everyone is gonna hide.

1....2....3....4....

Shhh they're hiding in the leaves. Kudos if you can spot all of them.

Boo! Found you Dandelion! Your head was very well hidden, your butt was less so.

Gotcha Autumn! Your butt was hidden very well, but looks like Squishy found your head. Fear not you blend in pretty well.

Hmmm, is there anyone over here? (Ps, there's three isopods in this picture, see if you can spot them all!)

There you are Kitsune! You can't hide from Squishy forever!

There you are Ladybug! Good hiding skills!

Agaric! Found you! Squishy walked right past you last time, but not this time! They've found you!

Pearl, the other Isopod Squishy walked right past, you won't get away with it anymore, muahahaha.

Second to last isopod, large Chicken Nugget, who did a remarkable job at hiding.

And finally our dear winner, Lepus, who despite being at a disadvantage because they're rather pink rather then leaf colored, managed to hide so well Squishy found them last! Good job kiddo!

We didn't end up playing any more rounds because this was already so many pictures and I really didn't need any more and also we were out of time. Maybe another time.
