Do you have any ideas for Us and Them (characters) in the zombie au? 👀

(I apologize that it's taking me so long to answer these!!! I'm trying to work on getting a better work ethic...!!!) I think in Zombie Wrench, Scratch's assumptions that he makes about Us and Them in Episode 3 are a reality. All Agari seemed to have become drones that seek to consume others to expand the reach of the Hivemind. HOWEVER, I don't think they're entirely mindless. They still feel their love for each other: these feelings so strong that I think it led them to literally fuse into one VERY powerful being. They can still communicate to other Agari naturally, and other Races through music, but the fallout has led their personalities to significantly alter. They're always hungry... they'd do anything to make it stop... ooo how edgy.

we also see that the other darts are not tipped with that suspicious green. and jawbone tips his by licking them. see:

which means he probably has some form of the cataclysm in his body. ALSO. as ive mentioned before the episode title is “plague walker” and. the cataclysm is a bit akin to a plague, dont you think? since the cataclysm turned the agari into mindless drone things, im assuming its some sort of zombie infection type of deal? and maybe hes only partially “infected” with the cataclysm.

THAT OR!!! we know that it has been almost 800 years since the cataclysm (granted. galactic years, and i dont think a true length of them has ever really been confirmed?? but they are YEARS so it has to have been a very long time) maybe theres folks who are like, half infected due to a parent being infected with it? and maybe this is the case for jawbone.

ANOTHER POSSIBILITY: fucked around and found out maybe?? and/or purposely found a way to use it as a weapon. we know he has a bounty on his head, so it could be the latter!! then again L.A.W. enforcement are the ones containing the corruption so it could also be the former.

i might think of more later, and if i do ill make an update!

some manga i've read

I have a LOT of manga in my room, so I thought it would be cool to tell you about some of them!

Mr. Villain's Day Off

I first heard about this series when I saw its anime trailer on YouTube. Coincidentally, I found two books of the original manga in my local Barnes and Noble, so that's why I bought them! I like this series because it's a slice-of-life parody of the sentai genre, and I also appreciate the titular character's love of pandas! I even liked how each of the heroes had backstories.

Favorite Character: Mr. Villain

X-Gender

This book was a great pick because it discusses queer topics in a respectful and informative manner. It is an autobiography about the author's experiences with their gender and sexuality, and if you're wondering what "x-gender" means, it's a Japanese term for being nonbinary.

Favorite Character: N/A

Uramichi Oniisan

Oh my god. This series is HILARIOUS. All of the main characters have a dysfunctional, but harmonious dynamic when they work together on stage. Everything Uramichi does or says makes me cry and laugh at the same time.

Heaven's Design Team

This is another series that makes me laugh, and I've seen clips of the anime before getting my hands on the manga. It reminds me of those "God creating animals" memes that were popular on Twitter back in the 2010's. It's peak edutainment, and each character has a very eccentric personality!

Favorite Characters: Venus and Yokota

Kirby Manga Mania

I decided to give this one a try, because who doesn't love Kirby? The art style is bubbly and bright, and the humor goes off the walls! I find it weird how Kirby talks normally instead of going "poyo poyo" all the time.

Favorite Characters: Kirby and King Dedede

Precarious Woman Executive Miss Black General

Yeezus, that's a long title. I picked this one out because I thought the art style looked cool. It's a story about a villainess with a crush on Totally-Not-Batman. I enjoyed the slapstick and the amazing character design.

Cells at Work!

Here's another edutainment anime. The depictions of each microorganism are really cool, and I liked the scenes where the cells had to fight off against nasty viruses! It even does a good job at explaining how the body works by providing bits and bobs of information throughout the panels.

Little Miss P

I've never seen a manga that talks about periods before, and I'm glad it exists. This book is relatable because I hate it when my period arrives, but I understand getting your period is normal. I'm quite fond of the messy art style, too.

Merman in My Tub

I remember cheerily reblogging and liking posts about it last year, and I still love it to this day! All of the characters have vibrant personalities, and I really like the designs of each merman. This series is light-hearted and goofy, so that's why I think it's awesome.

I saw so much art that I had to actually play Cult of the Lamb (on the lowest difficulty, with infinite fervor on), and I… I actually really like this game. It’s weirdly sweet, considering everything. But also the poor Lamb is holding the only braincell in this entire place, that’s the real reason all these people are following them, Red Crown who.

So far we have had:

The one who badgered me with so many irritated-sounding requests that I thought for sure she disliked me, then asked me to sacrifice her. (Okay, fine, I said, but I’m resurrecting you immediately after—and then she walked around with a phantom quest turn-in marker for several days, because you turn those in with a different follower but I did complete her quest, and it confused the game.)

Witness Agarys, former boss monster of post-Leshy Darkwood, getting back to the cult and immediately requesting to eat somebody. (That tracks, but no.)

The one who has spent nearly his entire time in the cult so far sick because he arrived sick, got better, and promptly asked to eat refuse. Which made him sick again. (I don’t know why I said yes to that.)

Though I admit there was a time where I made everyone stand in the temple for an entire night because I didn’t realize time was running while I stared at the doctrines. But in my defense, the clock disappeared. And I did send them all to bed afterwards.

Rewatched the new MW ep, this time with my older brother. He was absolutely blown away by it💖

We both agreed the detail of the Agari working exactly like mushrooms in real life, with their intricate connections between one another and the way they produce these "waves" to communicate with eachother, was great. He's a fan of mushrooms so it was his favorite part of the episode, besides the animation and the comedy.

I also gotta add that the story of the Agari did get to me this time around, I felt goosebumps watching them struggle to keep themselves together. Overall, despite some minor criticisms I still hold towards the ep, it's great. I'm happy I was able to enjoy it so much this time around.

Name: Ichiya

Debut: HOPEFULLY NEVER

Hi everyone! It’s Mod Cat Flopter here :3 Bet you didn’t think you’d see me so soon after Now or Never!!

This BASTARD and THIEF is a former member of the band Squid Squad, now a member of the band Front Roe. His music debuted in Splatoon 1!

Ichiya is a vocalist and guitarist who grew up in Splatsville, then moved to Inkopolis, where he founded Squid Squad with Nami, Quinn, and Murasaki. His most prolific work, Now or Never, is a track stolen from his childhood friend, Beika. He doesn’t know ANY music theory and just vibes. Usually, this would be respectable, but when this clownfish does it it makes him anemone! He’s shellfish and he’s said to have the temperment of a prodigy, as proven by the fact that he STOLE NOW OR NEVER!!!!

But. To be… Sigh. Nice. He IS charming and people are drawn to him. He’s a rockstar! He’s made plenty of OTHER music, all of which is pretty good :3

And I do mean that he makes the music! He was Squid Squad’s primary lyricist and composer, as well as vocalist and guitarist, and there’s not any indication that Front Roe is any different. He’s a Big Deal!

But I’m also not the only one with beef! Me and my best friend Beika are also joined by his former bandmate Quinn, the bassist, who he got into a HUGE fight with. Quinn preferred a tense atmosphere, and thought that Squid Squad, as well as Ichiya himself, were too laid back. So they shot each other! With ink guns. Splatoon.

That does make me wonder, though. Did Squid Squad turf? They WERE a quartet, but Murasaki is an urchin. Did they listen to their own music while turfing? The world is so wide and beautiful, so I do not think mysteries like this must be solved…

Then again, Quinn does not seem overtly opposed to a reunion with his old bandmates. When asked if a reunion was in the cards, he simply said that it was a good question and left. That’s not a no :3

Another person who has a rivalry with Ichiya is Mizo of Wet Floor! This is less hate and more of an overbearing legacy. Mizo wants to do his own thing, and it’s REALLY hard to escape Squid Squad’s legacy as THE Turf War band. I think that Wet Floor did make a name for themselves, and their own identity, but given they also covered Now or Never! Mizo had their work cut out for them.

And last but also most, Beika himself! The original creator of Now or Never! and Ichiya’s childhood friend. He started a BIG Twitter storm about how Ichiya stole Now or Never! from him, and there’s some good evidence for it!

First of all, after Quinn left, the remaining members of Squid Squad moved to the Splatlands, forming Front Roe with new member 004CLM, who is NOT a clam. Probably. Either way, they’re reluctant to play their Squid Squad hits, including Now or Never!. Probably because Ichiya STOLE it!! They also keep their faces hidden and never promote or perform their music in Splatsville itself!

Okay :3 now for some trivia.

Squid Squad didn’t seem to have a label, but Front Roe is working with the independent label AGARI

Seeing your Monkey Wrench zombie AU made me wonder: between Shrike and Bulldog/Beebs, who is the one who handles himself better in terms of being under stress in a tense and serious situation? And above all, how were the opinions of the two of them regarding the virus between when it began with the first cases of infection until today when, well, apparently they have already gotten used to this environment of survival? If there was any change in their opinions regarding this whole situation in the galaxy, of course

TRANSLATION FOR MY TERRIBLE HANDWRITING UNDER THIS!!! <3

1) I think in tense situations Beebs definitely handles his stress a lot better. Shrike tries his best, but when things get life-threatening he becomes a mess. He's capable of defending himself of course! And he knows what he's doing! But I think sometimes he doubts his own capabilities. :(

2) I'm trying to align with the canon of the show, and the virus starting appearing shortly after the Cataclysm event, and the infected Agari began to spread it throughout the Galaxy. I think at the point it breached containment, and L.A.W became unresponsive, Shrike didn't believe it at first, while Beebs was more concerned.

3) I think Shrike didn't take it very seriously until the incident with Tyneen. (I did a little comic about it in a previous post!!) And after that, he set aside his interest in Terran stuff out of disdain for the destruction they caused. As for adapting? I think they're doing fine... but it could be better.

4) And Beebs is pretty disappointed in L.A.W for their disappearance, arguably maybe even angry with them. I think after losing his eye he became less willing to goof off and have fun like he used to. He's a lot more serious now.

I've been in denial about it but I think it's time for me to finally face the truth:

Komi Can't Communicate is an adorable, hilarious, clever show that shot itself in the foot with its terrible handling of queer characters 😭

Like I love that show so much, I had so much fun watching it, I've seen it multiple times, but both the characters and the show itself mishandle its queer characters so badly.

Tadano's suspicion of Najimi (not letting them change in the girls' locker room, insisting that they're a boy etc) is played for laughs. It also feels like the show tries to justify it, given the fact that Najimi is pretty pervy from time to time and it's hard to know whether they're joking or if they're actually unsafe in some situations, since they regularly make jokes that make others uncomfortable. In the real world, the idea that transgender/nonbinary/intersex people are a danger to others is pervasive and extremely damaging, and I hate that it's something this show does. Najimi as a character is such a delight and I feel like the show does them very dirty. And it would've been so easy not to do that! We could've had mega-popular trans/nonbinary Najimi that the show loves and embraces without making jokes at their expense! But alas...

There's also the issue of Agari and Yamai, whose attraction to Komi is (in different ways) oversexualized, creepy af, and played for laughs. I really, really think there is a way to make a good comedy out of this without disrespecting wlw attraction that way.

I'm not sure how well the show lines up with the manga or anything, or if the manga grows out of that kind of behavior, but I just think it's SUCH a shame that the show does that. You hate to see bad queer rep in the 2020s :/

something i noticed about s1e3 was this very specific statement by Beebs

its this mention and the fact that they callback to it at the end

and the fact that I don't THINK we've seen any AI or robot people that makes me think that it's something of a taboo and/or straight up outlawed specifically because of the cataclysm.

Edit: As pointed out by @exhausted-drone on the framed picture Scratch swiped from the Terran wreck there seems to be a robot standing beside the girl in the photo, resting it's hand on her shoulder and conveniently covered by the remnants of Them(the Agari) which would later be infected by the green cataclysm thing.

Also as a side note, if anyone else is familiar with Zeurel's concepts for this project and his earlier work on deviantart there is a character not (currently) present in the show that I feel might make an appearance sooner rather than later.

Dynasties in the Kingdom of Talig

The People of Honor are dynasties, descended from the High Houses of Galtara. Initially, there were Four Houses, which included the Head of the High House - the Lord of the Elements, and four of his blood vassals, who were subordinate only to the Head of the House, who in turn swore allegiance to King Rakan. After the collapse of the Golden Empire, in order to distinguish themselves from the titled nobility, who aren't blood relatives of the Lords, they began to call themselves People of Honor.

At the time of the fall of the Rakan dynasty, eleven of the twenty surnames survived – Épinay, Oakdell, Prydd, Savignac, Dorak, Carlyon, Tristram, Roxley, Berheim, Fok Varzov, Gaunt.

Alva and Arigo, formally consider to People of Honor, but treat them as half-bloods.

The Oakdells

Title: Lord Oakdell, Lord of the Rocks Motto: Firm and unshakable Head of the family: Richard Oakdell Main possessions: Duchy of Nador

According to legend, the Oakdells are descended from the son of Lit - Littion, the first ruler of Nadorea — one of the four kingdoms united under the scepter of the Rakans in the Golden Anaxia. Starting with Lucian Nadorea and ending with Alan Oakdell, the Lords of the Rocks were famous for their personal courage and boundless devotion to the Rakans.

When Francis Ollar captures Taligoya because of the treason of Lord Alva, and Alan Oakdell sneaks into the palace and kills Ramiro Alva Sr., for which the new king orders his execution.

His descendant, Egmont Oakdell, raises a rebellion against the power of the Ollars, but it's suppressed by Roque Alva. Egmont dies in a duel with the Lord of the Wind. The title passes to his son Richard Oakdell.

The Alvas

Title: Lord of the Wind, Lord of Canalloa and Marechiara, Soberano Motto: Against the wind Head of the family: Roque Alva Main possessions: Duchy of Canalloa and Marechiara

They own vast lands in the south of Talig. The residence is located in the city of Alvasete.

The Alva family began with Albin Borraska, the eldest son of the Lord of Wind, who fled to the Crimson Lands with his twin sister Albina and her lover.

Officially deprived of the title of Lord of the Winds and the family name Borraska, Albin was adopted by the ruler of the Crimson Lands - nar-shad Zallah, renounced his parents, embraced to the Moriscan faith, took the name Alva-ar-Zallah.

He landed in Canalloa with a small army, overthrew the ruler and proclaimed himself nar-shad of Canalloa, founding the Alva dynasty.

Later, his descendant, nar-shad Diego Alva, has a new title, proclaiming himself Soberano (lord) of Canalloa.

When the line of the Borraska family ended, and the title of Lord of the Winds passed to the Alva family. Soberano Rodrigo Alva agreed to recognize himself as a vassal of King of Taligoya and accept the ducal title, stipulating the complete non-interference of the crown in the affairs of Canalloa.

They also strongly opposed Agaris' interference in their affairs, earning the fame of heretics, but the strategic position, connections with the Morisk's shads and Marechiara's corsairs and considerable military force forced Agaris to abandon the idea of forcibly preaching esperatism on the peninsula.

At the call of King Hernani XI, Lord Ramiro Alva and his army came to the besieged capital and successfully defended the city for several months, but then he killed King Hernani and Lord Hector Prydd, who led the defense of the capital, and let the army of the Maragon's Bastard into Kabitela. Mortally wounded by Alan Oakdell, declared the First Marshal of the Talig on his deathbed.

He was married to a rootless orphan Octavia. This marriage caused great indignation among People of Honor. After the death of her husband, Octavia became the wife of King Francis Ollar and the first Queen of Talig.

The Épinays

Title: Lord of Épinay, Lord of Lightning Motto: Portends victory Head of the family: Robert Épinay Main possessions: Old Épinay and Arigo

It is known for certain that the Lords Épinay are the direct heirs of the Golden Anaxian Great House of Marechiare, whose head bore the title of Lord of Lightning.

The Marechiare family traditionally led the "military party", challenging the primacy of the courtiers, whose leaders were most often representatives of the Peña family. The representatives of the family despised politics and politicians and were famous for their fervor, open temperament and love affairs. Many strategists and legendary warrior have emerged from their ranks.

The decree on the name change Marechiare was perceived in their own style. They took the name Épinay in honor of the river where the Lord of the Lightning - Cesare Marechiare defeated the combined separatist army.

The Prydds

Title: Lord Prydd, the Lord of the Waves Motto: From the Depths Head of the family: Valentine-Otto Prydd Main possessions: Duchy of Prydda

The Lords Prydd bear the title of Lords of the Waves. It is known for sure that they're direct descendants of the last Head of the House Peña.

Representatives of the Peña family traditionally held high court positions, despised the military class and disapproved of the "steel" Anaks. The Peñas were known for their endurance, secrecy and the ability to use others to pull chestnuts out of the fire.

The House of Waves accepted religious reforms outwardly calmly, but many saw the Peña family's hand in a series of conspiracies and rebellions. The decree on changing the name of Peña was accepted calmly, taking the name of the city of Prydda, near which their ancestral castle was located.

One of the chronicles claims that Maximilian Pridd's third son - Justinian, heard a song in his journey about how the young man caught a huge purple octopus with a golden mark, in whose tentacles a small octopus was hiding, which managed to escape. When the young man brought his booty home, his mother was horrified and begged him never to go to sea again, but the young man laughed. He became one of the most daring and successful captains, then married a beautiful girl. They had eight sons. During the wedding of the eldest of them, the whole family went out to sea on nine ships to bring gifts to the spirits of the waves and wind. When this was done, a giant octopus rose from the depths and dragged the captain's wife and all his sons to the bottom.

Upon returning home, Justinian learned that the Lord Maximilian and his two eldest sons had died unexpectedly. The entourage hinted to the new duke that they had been poisoned as a result of the intrigues of the king's inner circle, who feared the excessive strengthening of the Prydd family. Justinian didn't react in any way to the news he received, but submitted a petition to change the coat of arms to an octopus raised by a wave and the motto "From the depths" (previously, the symbol of the Peña-Prydd family was an azure wave raising a sparkling silver heart).

There were rumors about the involvement of Justinian Prydd in the murder of the king, the canciller and the cardinal. Their deaths were caused by injections of poisoned needles inserted into the locks of caskets, which were opened by the deceased. However, these caskets were not found later, and it was not possible to prove involvement in the murder.

The Lords of the Waves are formally loyal to the Ollars. However, they are often involved in plots against the crown, but each time they manage to get away with it. For this reason, their reliability and loyalty are in doubt among both supporters and opponents of the Royal Family.
