Despite the kind help/opinions of the fandom, I have made the stupid decision to read The Golden Raven now regardless of real life throwing all the problems at me.

I figured Japanese was Jean’s second language but I can’t believe he started learning it at 8. That means his parents were high enough up the Moriyamas chain to make his use of it inevitable or they were always planning to sell him off. (Question of did Elodie also learn Japanese or did they always plan on her being sold somewhere French speaking.)

I already know I’m going to confuse Derek Thompson and Derrick Allan. I barely clocked they were different people in that locker room scene and was confused who was talking to Jean.
