Mastering PPC Ads: How a PPC Ads Training Course Can Propel Your Digital Marketing Success
Pay-Per-Click (PPC) advertising is a powerful tool in the world of digital marketing, enabling businesses to reach their target audience with precision and generate measurable results. However, navigating the complexities of PPC campaigns can be challenging without the right knowledge and skills. That's where a PPC Ads training course comes into play. In this article, we'll explore the significance of PPC advertising, the benefits of enrolling in a Expert PPC Ads Training Course, and how it can catapult your digital marketing career to new heights.
The Power of PPC Advertising
PPC advertising is an online advertising model where advertisers pay a fee each time their ad is clicked. It's a highly effective way to drive traffic to websites, increase brand visibility, and generate leads or sales. Here are some compelling reasons why PPC advertising is crucial in today's digital landscape:
Targeted Advertising: PPC allows advertisers to target their ads to specific demographics, locations, keywords, and even device types. This precision ensures that your message reaches the right audience.
Measurable Results: Unlike traditional advertising, PPC provides real-time, trackable data, enabling advertisers to measure the effectiveness of their campaigns. This data helps in making data-driven decisions and optimizing campaigns for better ROI.
Immediate Impact: PPC campaigns can be set up quickly, and ads can start appearing in search engine results pages (SERPs) or on other digital platforms almost instantly. This immediacy is invaluable for time-sensitive promotions.
Budget Control: Advertisers have full control over their PPC budgets, allowing them to set daily or monthly spending limits. This helps prevent overspending and ensures that campaigns remain within budget.
Flexible Campaigns: PPC campaigns can be adjusted on the fly, making it easy to adapt to changing market conditions or capitalize on emerging trends.
Benefits of Enrolling in a PPC Ads Training Course
Here's why enrolling in a PPC Ads training course is a wise investment for digital marketers:
In-Depth Knowledge: PPC Ads training courses provide comprehensive insights into the world of paid advertising. You'll learn about various PPC platforms, advertising networks, bidding strategies, ad formats, and best practices.
Hands-on Experience: Many courses offer practical exercises and hands-on experience with real PPC campaigns. This practical knowledge is invaluable for applying what you've learned in real-world scenarios.
Staying Updated: The digital marketing landscape is constantly evolving, with new features and algorithms being introduced regularly. PPC training courses keep you up to date with the latest trends and changes in the industry.
Expert Guidance: Enrolling in a course means you'll have access to experienced instructors who can answer your questions, provide guidance, and offer insights based on their own PPC expertise.
Effective Campaign Management: Courses teach you how to set up and manage PPC campaigns effectively, from keyword research and ad creation to budget allocation and performance tracking.
Cost-Effective: Compared to trial-and-error learning, PPC training courses are cost-effective. They help you avoid costly mistakes and optimize your ad spend.
Choosing the Right PPC Ads Training Course
When selecting a PPC Ads training course, consider the following factors:
Course Content: Ensure that the course covers the specific PPC platforms or networks you intend to use, such as Google Ads, Bing Ads, or social media advertising.
Instructor Credentials: Research the qualifications and experience of the course instructors to ensure they are reputable and knowledgeable in the field.
Reviews and Testimonials: Read reviews and testimonials from previous course participants to gauge the course's effectiveness and impact on their careers.
Practical Components: Look for courses that offer hands-on exercises, case studies, and practical assignments to reinforce your learning.
Cost and Duration: Evaluate the cost of the course in relation to your budget and the duration to complete it. Consider whether it offers value for money.
PPC advertising is an indispensable tool for digital marketers seeking to drive traffic, increase conversions, and achieve measurable results. Enrolling in a PPC Ads training course equips you with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience needed to excel in this dynamic field. Whether you're a digital marketing professional or a business owner looking to enhance your online presence, a PPC Ads training course can be your ticket to success in the ever-evolving world of digital advertising.

What are the key components of SEO that hold the most significance?
In today’s digital landscape, where online visibility can make or break a business, mastering Search Engine Optimization (SEO) has become a vital strategy for business owners, executives, and marketing managers alike. Mark Jamiesonis a distinguished SEO expert and the owner of WSI Ottawa, and he can explain the most important elements of SEO that can drive success in the online arena.
WHAT ARE THE KEY COMPONENTS OF SEO?
At its core, SEO is about aligning your digital presence with search engine algorithms to ensure your content is found by your target audience. The foundational elements include keyword research, on-page optimization, technical SEO, high-quality content, and backlink building.
WHY IS KEYWORD RESEARCH IMPORTANT IN SEO?
According to Mark, keyword research is the compass of your SEO strategy. It involves identifying the search terms potential customers use to find products or services like yours. By integrating these keywords strategically throughout your website and blog content, you increase your chances of ranking higher in search engine results, which leads to increased visibility.
WHAT IS ON-PAGE OPTIMIZATION?
On-page optimization involves adjusting individual web pages so they rank higher and attract organic traffic. This involves writing your meta tags, headings, and content to target the highest-volume keywords. Mark cautions that you need to make sure you strike a balance between keyword integration and providing valuable content that resonates with your audience.
WHY IS TECHNICAL SEO IMPORTANT?
Technical SEO ensures that search engines can crawl and index your website effectively. This includes optimizing site speed, ensuring mobile responsiveness, fixing broken links, and creating an organized site structure. A technically sound and well-developed website not only improves user experience but also enhances your search engine rankings.”
HOW DOES GOOD QUALITY CONTENT IMPACT SEO?
Mark tells all his clients that Content Is King! High-quality content is the driving force behind successful SEO. It not only engages and informs your audience but also earns valuable backlinks from authoritative websites. Regularly producing insightful, relevant, and unique blogs keeps your website fresh and appealing to both users and search engines.
DO BACKLINKS HELP WITH SEO?
Backlinks are like digital endorsements from other reputable websites. They signify that your content is credible and valuable. Building a network of high-quality, relevant backlinks establishes your website’s authority and trustworthiness in the eyes of search engines, ultimately boosting your rankings.
In today’s competitive digital landscape, implementing these key elements of SEO can be a game-changer for your business. Working with one of the top SEO agencies in Ottawa, you can optimize your website and content so your business can achieve greater visibility, increased organic traffic, and a strong online presence that drives success.

I am shyly going to ask if requesting where the reader is Goo’s younger sister and where Samuel somehow gets hired to protect Goo’s younger sister (despite the younger sister knowing some self defense) / the reader falling for Samuel? Would be okay with you? :0 (if that makes any sense-)
If not, that’s totally fine :>
Just thought I’d give it a shot aha-
Sure that's ok with me anon! Sorry for the delay! Man I miss the days before Sammy was fully unhinged.
Samuel Seo x Goo's Younger Sister!Reader: Plushie
Goo doesn't like this.
The way your eyes widen upon first meeting, the way his linger a moment too long.
If he wasn't busy being out of town, running around like Charles Choi's very well paid dog, he wouldn't need to do this.
But Samuel, with his terrible daddy issues and irrational need to prove himself-
Goo might as well take advantage of it.
"If she misses even a hair on her pretty lil head then I'll cut yours off, ok Samuel?"
"Oppa!"
.
.
Sammy-
(Or Samuel as he likes to be called. Which you learned after you earned a disapproving glare and a correction each time. Good thing his glares have no effect on you and you don't care what he likes.)
- is more patient with you than his haughty and bored expression may suggest.
To your annoyance, it seems that he has taken your Oppa's word to heart and has made it his current life mission to keep you in sight and within reach almost all times.
"What do you like to watch, Sammy?"
As if on reflex, the glare comes. Except it doesn't hold anywhere near as much frostiness as it did in the first couple days. He's still exasperated, but becoming resigned to his unfavourable nickname.
"Nothing."
You're also getting used to his short, curt responses.
If you think about it, It's kind of ridiculous that this man is sitting next to you in your apartment. Very close quarters. Shadowing you for over a week now.
Dressed down. In a hoodie that is at once large and comfy, yet extremely tight in certain areas, and sweatpants. His dress code has gradually loosened. From expensive tailored suits, to casual shirts and chinos, and now to this.
This situation can be read as intimate. Except he's only here because he has to be, and your Oppa doesn't believe you can protect yourself.
(You wanted to tell Goo that he's wrong. He was the one that trained you up, after all. But there's no stopping him once he gets something in his head.)
"You must like to watch something. Action? Thrillers? Comedies? Documentaries?"
"I prefer to read."
You resist the urge to roll your eyes, "What about when you were a kid? You must like something then."
An inscrutable expression flashes across Samuel's face, his next words come out forced. "Nothing. I couldn’t- didn’t watch anything."
Oh.
You file that away for another time, maybe when you don't have whatever this wall is between you. If that day ever comes.
That small bit of insight into what sort of boy this man used to be.
Because the likely reasons he couldn’t are either he wasn't allowed to or couldn't afford to, and neither of these are great choices.
You decide to breeze over it. For today. Deciding that Sammy is not the sort of person that would want any sort of sympathy. That he would most likely interpret it as pity.
"Well, let's watch this. It's my fave."
Unfortunately your fave is nothing short of absolute trash.
.
.
Samuel sits silent throughout the full 30 minutes.
At the end, you turn to him and press for his thoughts.
"It's... not bad."
His answer stuns you. You don't hide your expression and receive a small smile in return.
You look at him in a new light.
If someone was to ask either of you when it started, both of you would probably answer this moment was when the fondness started to grow.
.
.
Goo would likely kill him.
Trace a blade along each of his tattoos, dig in and watch the crimson flow.
If Goo knew that Samuel had any sort of anything towards you, Samuel would suffer a fate worse than death.
Still, the close quarters are doing nothing to help his budding interest.
The show was a turning point. From you being Goo's somewhat bratty and annoying sister-
(Goo is extremely bratty and annoying himself, of course it would run in the family.)
- to you being… Well.
You.
A fully formed person in your own right.
Your laughter changes from grating to infectious.
Your questions from prying to simply curious.
Your 'Sammy' from exasperating to endearing.
Even his assigned job to look after you no longer feels like a chore, another chance to nurture his Secret Friend status.
It's enjoyable.
.
.
Your shopping habits test the limit of Samuel's patience.
Your shoes are also testing the limit of your foot arch, but you decide it's worth it to see how long he can bear traipsing after you.
He might be winning this one as he follows you obediently, store after store.
Reaching for his wallet each time you carry an item towards the register. You rebuff him with a wave of your black credit card (technically, your Oppa's black credit card) and Samuel seems to suffer from not being able to perform this act of gallantry.
Offers his opinion even when you don't ask, usually in distaste at something you're looking at. A huff of laughter when you accuse him of being the one with no taste.
Accuses outright you of being tasteless when you ponder over purchasing an adorable plushie.
Samuel dismisses it. "It's ugly."
"Well it reminds me of you!"
He stills for a moment, shock briefly crossing his face before chuckling. Eyes lighting up with mirth.
And you think 'damn him, he's not ugly at all.'
Annoyed, you return the plushie back to the shelf with force.
You're still petulant as you continue to look around afterwards, and he seems to relish in the way you stomp around heavy footed.
His apology comes hours later, when you're waiting at the food court. In the form of some greasy junk food you demanded in one hand; the plushie you squealed over and he physically recoiled at, in the other.
"To remind you of me," he smirks.
That night, as you lay awake with the plushie in your arms. You also think 'damn it, it does remind you of him.'
And squeeze it tighter to your body.

Watcher's Expenses
I didn't major in accounting: I took three classes and it grinded my brain to a fine powder. However, after graduating with a business admin degree, being a former eager fan of their videos, and from a cursory glance over their socials, there's a lot to consider in their spending behavior that really could start racking up costs. Some of these things we've already noticed, but there are other things I'd like to highlight, and I'll try to break it down into the different categories of accounting expenses (if I get something wrong, let me know. I was more concentrated in marketing 🤷♀️). I'm not going to hypothesize numbers either, as that would take out more time than I'm willing to afford-- you can assume how much everything costs. Anyways, here's my attempt at being a layman forensic accountant:
Note: All of this is assuming they're operating above board and not engaging in any illegal practices such as money laundering, tax evasion, not paying rent, etc.
Operating Expenses
Payroll: 25+ staff salaries and insurance
Overhead Expenses
CEO/founder salaries
Office space leasing or rent (In L.A, one of the most expensive cities in the US)
Utilities (water, electricity, heating, sanitation, etc.)
Insurance
Advertising Costs
Telephone & Internet service
Cloud Storage or mainframe
Office equipment (furniture, computers, printers, etc.)
Office supplies (paper, pens, printer ink, etc.)
Marketing costs (Social media marketing on Instagram, Youtube, SEO for search engines, Twitter, etc. Designing merchandise and posters, art, etc. )
Human Resources (not sure how equipped they are)
Accounting fees
Property taxes
Legal fees
Licensing fees
Website maintenance (For Watchertv.com, Watcherstuff.com, & Watcherentertainment.com)
Expenses regarding merchandising (whoever they contract or outsource for that)
Inventory costs
Potentially maintenance of company vehicles
Subsequent gas mileage for road trips
Depreciation (pertains to tangible assets like buildings and equipment)
Amortization (intangible assets such as patents and trademarks)
Overhead Travel and Entertainment Costs (I think one of the biggest culprits, evident in their videos and posts)
The travel expenses (flights, train trips, rental cars, etc. For main team and scouts)
Hotel expenses for 7-8 people at least, or potentially more
Breakfasts, lunches and dinners with the crew (whether that's fully on their dime or not, I don't know; Ryan stated they like to cover that for the most part)
Recreational activities (vacation destinations, amusement parks, sporting activities etc.)
The location fees
Extraneous Overhead costs (not sure exactly where these fall under, but another culprit, evident in videos and posts)
Paying for guest appearances
Expensive filming & recording equipment (Cameras, sound equipment, editing software subscriptions, etc.)
The overelaborate sets for Ghost files, Mystery Files, Puppet History, Podcasts etc. (Set dressing: Vintage memorabilia, antiquated tech, vintage furniture, props, etc.)
Kitchen & Cooking supplies/equipment
Office food supply; expensive food and drink purchases for videos
Novelty items or miscellaneous purchases (ex. Ghost hunting equipment, outfits, toys, etc.)
Non-Operating Expenses
These are those expenses that cannot be linked back to operating revenue. One of the most common examples of non-operating expenses is interest expense. This is because while interest is the cost of borrowing money from a creditor or a bank, they are not generating any operating income. This makes interest payments a part of non-operating expenses.
Financial Expenses
Potential loan payments, borrowing from creditors or lenders, bank loans, etc.
Variable Expenses
Hiring a large amount of freelancers, overtime expenditure, commissions, etc.
PR consultations (Not sure if they had this before the scandal)
Extraordinary Expenses
Expenses incurred outside your company’s regular business activities and during a large one-time event or transactions. For example, selling land, disposal of a significant asset, laying off of your employees, unexpected machine repairing or replacement, etc.
Accrued Expenses
When your business has incurred an expense but not yet paid for it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(If there's anything else I'm missing, please feel free to add or correct things)
To a novice or a young entrepreneur, this can be very intimidating if you don't have the education or the support to manage it properly. I know it intimidates the hell out of me and I'm still having to fill in the gaps (again, if I've mislabeled or gotten anything wrong here, please let me know). For the artistic or creative entrepreneur, it can be even harder to reconcile the extent of your creative passions with your ability to operate and scale your business at a sustainable rate. That can lead to irresponsible, selfish, and impulsive decisions that could irreparably harm your brand, which is a whole other beast of its own.
My guess at this point is that their overhead and operation expenses are woefully mismanaged; they've made way too many extraneous purchases, and that they had too much confidence in their audience of formerly 2.93 million to make up for the expenses they failed to cover.
It almost seems as if their internal logic was, "If we make more money, we can keep living the expensive lifestyle that we want and make whatever we want without anyone telling us we can't, and we want to do it NOW, sooner rather than later because we don't want wait and compromise our vision." But as you can see, the reality of fulfilling those ambitions is already compromised by the responsibility of running a business.
And I wrote this in another post here, but I'll state it again: Running a business means you need to be educated on how a business can successfully and efficiently operate. Accounting, marketing, social media marketing, public relations, production, etc; these resources and internet of things is available and at your disposal. If they had invested more time in educating themselves on those aspects and not made this decision based on artistic passion (and/or greed), they would have not gotten the response they got.
Being a graphic designer, I know the creative/passionate side of things but I also got a degree/got educated in business because I wanted to understand how to start a company and run it successfully. If they’re having trouble handling the responsibility of doing that, managing production costs, managing overhead expenses, and especially with compensating their 25+ employees, then they should hire professionals that are sympathetic to their creative interests, but have the education and experience to reign in bad decisions like these.
Anyways, thanks for coming to my TedTalk. What a shitshow this has been.

lost boy | seo changbin
☆ part 3/8 of the 5 seconds of stray kids series ☆
words: 2.01k // warnings: childhood friends reunited, friends to more?
you hadn’t seen changbin in twevle years, surely he’d forgotten about you? kids of your age moved on from their friends like a change in the weather… right?
“please, y/n. without you… i’m just a lost boy. i can’t lose you again.”
coming back home was always a scary thought to you. you left home quite young, having to leave behind all your friends and everything you ever knew. moving from one side of the country to the other just because your parents got a divorce seemed so silly in your 11 year old head. just because mom and dad didn't love each other anymore, why did you have to go? but as your mom moved across the country for a job, and your dad moved back to his home country, you didn’t really have a choice. at least by staying with your mom you wouldn’t have to fly away for good.
honestly, you hadn’t seen your dad since the day he flew out to go home - not that you particularly minded. he was a very absent father, and so you weren’t missing a lot. what hurt the most was having to say goodbye to your best friend of seven years, changbin. you had met in kindergarten and had been inseparable ever since, so having to leave him behind as you packed up your entire home and drove away was heartbreaking.
you could vividly remember the way his parents had to stop him chasing your mom’s car as you drove off, both of you sobbing so hard that you struggled to breath. leaving behind changbin was the hardest thing you’d ever done, even at 23 years old, and you weren’t sure anything else could ever be harder.
so standing at the train station of your home town brought back so many weird and horrible memories. your mom had moved back to the town recently due to location changes at work, and having just graduated college you deemed it best to move back in with her until you could afford your own place. so, with way too much luggage on hand, you waited patiently for her to drive up and collect you from the station.
honestly, you couldn’t tell if the town had ever changed since you were last there at 11 years old. it was like it had been frozen in time, only now coming back to life. part of you was expecting to look in a shop window and see your childhood self staring back at you. you were more than relieved when your mom pulled up to the curb, beeping to pull you out of your trance and getting out to help you load your belongings into the car.
the drive was quiet as you took in the fact that you were back in the place where you experienced your first heartbreak. you hummed and nodded in the correct places, to show your mom that you were kind of listening to her, but really all you wanted was to sleep. moving back to your childhood home was exhausting, especially when you never thought you’d return there.
your mom allowed you a nap before you moved all your belongings in, saying she would just leave it all in the car while she went to run a few errands. you were extremely grateful for that, wanting nothing more than the warm embrace of sleep. it healed your inner child spectacularly when your mom came to tuck you into bed, kissing your head and telling you how happy sh was that were home.
you had almost drifted off when something she said as she was leaving made your ears perk up, and caused you to have some pretty strange dreams.
“all we need now is changbin to come over and play mario kart with you, and it’ll be like nothing ever changed.”
from that second onwards, he was on your mind for the rest of the day. was he still in the area? how was he doing? did he even remember you? it had been so long, would you even recognize the other if you walked past one another on the street? how were his parents, who were practically you second parents in the midst of the divorce and the move?
unfortunately for you, you wouldn’t even know for sure if he was still around for another week. you had just started a new job - part-time barista work in a local coffee shop, and it was nice. being able to get out of the house, reconnect with people from your childhood, and not feel like you were leeching off of your mom.
it was your third shift, and about half an hour until you finished for the day. you were behind the counter, scrubbing up the remains of an iced coffee one of your co-workers spilled everywhere, trying to impress a pretty girl with his ‘brilliant coffee making skills’. you offered to clean it when he quickly took off on his break, giving you a break from dealing with customers. but your attention kept getting drawn to a booth in the back corner, where a group of 5 men were sitting and laughing.
there was something so familiar about them, and you couldn’t put your finger on it. honestly, you didn’t even mean to stare or eavesdrop, but you were kind of glad you did.
“honestly, man. the new barista is really cute, i think she’s new in town. i haven’t seen her before she started working here.”
“yeah, thats because you’re a fucking hermit, jisung. you didn’t know we had a nando’s until a year after it opened.”
“yah! leave me alone! seungmin, he’s bullying me again.”
there was a lot of laughed, and it made your heart warm. you couldn’t wait to have a group of friends close by like that again.
“leave him alone, come on. or i’ll roast all of you right now.”
a giggle.
“do it, i dare you.”
“fine. chan - you’re old. jisung - you can’t skate, no matter how much you try to say you can. felix - the only way you get girls is by having an accent. oh, and speaking of girls, changbin –” your heart skipped a beat. “you’re still hung up on a girl that moved away twelve years ago and probably doesn’t remember you exist.”
fits of laughter erupted from the table, and you hastily moved to the back room for a breath. there was no way… right? it had to be a different changbin. it couldn’t be your binnie, could it? you were immensely glad that your shift ended, sneaking out the back door and catching the first bus you could back home.
it was overwhelming, knowing he was so close to you but didn;t even know you were there. should you have said something? you didn’t want to ambush him. what if he got to know you again and didn’t like you anymore? it was terrifying, and you just wanted a glass of wine and a nice, quiet night in with your mom.
it took another week until you heard anything else changbin. your mom had mentioned that his parents wanted to see you, and broached the idea of a small get-together to celebrate your graduation and moving home. with a grimace on your face, you agreed, knowing that your mom would invite all her friends and you’d be stuck in conversations that you had no idea about.
she was ecstatic that you agreed, instantly calling up some of her friends to let them know, and arranging it for the following saturday night. you weren’t working that weekend, so it was kind of perfect, but deep down you couldn’t bring yourself to be excited. you’d overheard changbin’s mom saying that they just told him you had returned to town, but would he even show up to the party? but would it be better if he didn’t? you were a huge ball of nerves and it was horrible. you missed him endlessly, and being back in town was dragging up all of those feelings, but what if everything went wrong when you saw him?
you kept worrying about it up until the day of the party, whining to your mom about it while she insisted she curl your hair. you didn;t understand why she was making such a big deal, you both always knew you’d go back to her after graduating anyway. you much would’ve preferred a spa night with some gin and pizza, but she was so happy to have people over that you couldn’t bring yourself to take that away from her. maybe after an hour or so, you’d tell her you had a headache, or were overwhelmed, so you could escape and hide in your room. yeah, that worked.
it was an extremely well-thought and calculated plan. you’d mingle, enjoy a glass of wine or two, then dip. was it rude? probably. was it worth it? 100%. but of course, like all well thought out plans, it came crashing down almost as fast as it was put into action.
the party had barely started half an hour ago, and already you wanted to leave. you were trapped with one of your mom’s work friends, and a lady who claimed to babysit you before you started school. you truly were trying your hardest to be polite, but it was difficult. that was until you heard a shriek of joy from your mother, and your eyes darted over to see her embracing changbin’s mom in a hug. his dad was standing behind them, and you swore he hadn’t aged at all. it was like being transported back 13 years, and suddenly your stomach turned.
“oh, i’m so happy (y/n)’s back! we tried to convince changbin’s sister to come, but shes away on a business trip. we brought binnie though!”
oh god. oh no, you had to leave. like, right now. you weren’t ready to see him and get rejected from a friendship you’d never recovered from. you excused yourself from your conversation hastily, lunging towards the back door - but not before you saw a flash of black hair and a bunny smile embracing your mom.
your head felt like it was spinning as you plopped down on the swing chair in the garden. why did you agree to this stupid party in the first place? you could reintegrate back into the community at your own pace. you didn’t need to be force fed interactions with people you grew up with, you were a fully-grown adult for crying out loud. taking deep breaths, you tried to calm yourself, so caught in a trance that you didn;t hear the back door reopening and closing just behind your back.
“(y/n)? is that… is that you? your mom said i’d probably find you out here.”
it was like the world stopped spinning, pulling you out of your trance as you whipped your head around to be faced with the one person who both dreaded and wanted to see the most. seo changbin, in the flesh. and he was…. buff.
it was like a dam broke behind your eyes and you smiled softly as a few tears trickled down your face.
“hi, binnie.”
he grinned at your words, clearly relieved that you recognized him, and held his arms open for a hug. you couldn’t help yourself from getting up and leaning into him - it was like your body was working on its own accord. you both stood in silence for a few moments, and it was like nothing had changed at all.
“you’re still short.”
“hey, so are you!” you sniffled, pulling away to wipe your face on your sleeve. “i was so scared you wouldn’t remember me, or like me anymore.”
he seemed shocked at your confession, holding your face in his hands as he searched your face to understand what you were feeling.
“how could i ever forget you, or not like you? i’ve been praying on the day i’d see you again, stupid.” the grin on his face was infectious, and you couldn’t help but take the opportunity to poke fun at him again.
“you still scrunch your nose up like a bunny when you smile, too.”
“how could i not? my favorite girl is finally home.”

Cho Yeong and So-I – Narrative Foils
So I was thinking about this a lot yesterday but ended up just going to bed. I hope I can do my thoughts from last night justice.
What I think is really interesting is that the writers have subtly made a comparison throughout the show between Cho Yeong and So-I. They are each other's foils.
Now here me out.
Cho Yeong and So-i have both been handed terrible lots in life. We know a lot more about Cho Yeong's than So-i's (cause duh she's the main character), but we know enough about So-i's background to surmise what her upbringing was like for the most part.
There's no mention of So-i's parents by her EVER while every other character has mentioned their parent or parents at least once, leading us to believe that So-i may never have known her parents and is most likely an orphan from an age younger than Yeong.
We also know that she's from Sari Village, same as Mudeok, which from the flashbacks we see, doesn't look like a very nice place to live or a place inhabited by very well-off people. Her only close relation in Sari Village was Mudeok/Jin Buyeon, which I think is very telling of how she interacts with people. She doesn't form deep connections with people because she's focused on self-preservation. She doesn't become close to anyone in case she has to betray or con them to survive. Since she's no one's top priority, she's made herself her own at whatever cost. This attitude is super prevalent when she's going through all the steps to become Jin Buyeon, especially the scene where Jin Mu is launching shards of pottery at her and she refuses to even flinch, even when there's one like millimeters from her eye. She's got that grit of survival that goes beyond anything most people are capable of, I would say.
She has been a swindler/thief for years to survive, and again has no notable connections aside from Mudeok/Jin Buyeon.
This girl is well and truly on her own.
We can parallel this to Cho Yeong/Naksu. Naksu was orphaned at a young age as well, and has gone through hell to survive. She grew up basically entirely alone in Danhyangeok, raised herself, and trained herself to be ruthless all so that she could survive and even possibly get her revenge. She cast away all niceties and gentleness she may have had so that she can be strong enough to take care of herself. She too was her own top priority no matter what happens.
Cho Yeong also only had one notable connection while growing up, and that was Seo Yul. Seo Yul was her one friend in her teenage years that she was able to make, that she was able to be kind and gentle with because she couldn't afford to be like that with anyone else.
Where Yeong and So-i differ is this:
So-i, growing up through great hardship and having to rely entirely on herself to survive cast away all moral beliefs and principles in order to stay alive. She doesn't hesitate to kill who she needs to to survive, and even goes so far as to try to kill Mudeok not once but TWICE just to stay alive and stay Jin Buyeon. She has basically discarded most of her humanity in consideration of 'me, me, me, I have to stay alive'. Even later in season 2, she runs a gambling den and can be seen willingly torturing people and lowkey getting a kick out of it with no qualms. Even further, she was prepared to just send off Jin Buyeon/Naksu to Jin Mu with no worries, even going so far as to lock her in a room with knock-out gas. A bit crazy and heartless if you ask me.
Cho Yeong/Naksu however has NOT done that. As much as she has a reputation as a dangerous assassin who makes heads roll wherever she goes, we're told firstly that Naksu was known to never have harmed civilians or innocents. Additionally, when she found out that Yul was from the Seo family, one of the families behind the 'murder' of her father, she 1000% could have killed him or harmed him in some way. She could have justified it to herself under the guise of revenge, but she didn't. She pushes him away and basically lets him go with nothing more than a broken heart. Because she knows despite all the hurt that Yul is not to blame for what happened to her dad, that he is innocent in all that, and that he has been ineffably kind to her.
Furthermore, we have multiple instances in season 1 where Mudeok thinks about just killing Jang Uk and getting rid of him. She thinks she can do it, or at least she tries to convince herself. But every time she has a chance to or it would actually BENEFIT her own survival –like when that mage Gil-ju was like bring him to me or else I'll have you killed–she can't bring herself to do it. She even protects him quite a bit. We see her kindness as well in the way that she reassures Seo Yul many times, despite the very real risk that it could blow her cover, that she - Naksu - was okay in Danhyangeok, that it wasn't too rough for her even though she's under no obligation to.
The real climax for Naksu was when she was stuck in the ice stone with Jang Uk, Seo Yul, and the others. She could get all her powers back, shift souls with ANYONE she wanted at the drop of a hat, if she just let them all die. Should be simple for a cut-throat assassin right? She keeps telling herself she'll do it, trying to convince herself really. But she keeps stalling. She serves the crown prince and those goons that call themselves mages, she goes into the kitchen and decides to make Jang Uk the noodles that he loves, she tries to give the prince some honey cookies to lessen the guilt that she admits is consuming her with the thought of forsaking them all just for her own power. And in the end, she can't do it. She's been kidding herself. She goes crazy when she thought that Jang Uk died, and sets her sword aside not just for Jang Uk (though yeah she could never kill him we know that) but for all the people trapped in the barrier with her that are largely innocent (except So-i), that she cares about, and that she cannot justify to herself killing just for her own power gain.
This is why Cho Yeong/Naksu is great as a character and truly strong. She had a hard life yeah, and that skewed her morals, definitely. But she has not forsaken kindness or humanity like So-i did in the face of hardship. She tries to be all unfeeling and ruthless, but even back when she didn't even know Jang Uk that well, like when the soul-shifting detector dog (I forgot what it's called, my bad) had its sights set on her, she told him to step away from her, basically to protect himself and abandon her, which is totally contrary to the ruthless persona she tries to put on.
While So-i has abandoned any morals or principles EXCEPT when it comes to Seo Yul, Naksu hasn't. She is still capable of being kind and putting others before herself. How many times has she told Uk that if it comes down to it he should abandon her and protect himself?
Even in Season 2 when she finally remembers who she is, she puts Uk first and is ready to sacrifice her own happiness to do the right thing.
In this way, So-i and Cho Yeong are each other's narrative foils, both exemplifying the path and choices one can make in the face of hardship. You don't just become a bad person in the face of hardship, you choose to. And that's what is being shown to us.
I mean you can argue that Naksu ended up having more good people around her than So-i did, but also not really. So-i had Mudeok at a time when Naksu had nobody. Did So-i get in with the wrong people when she came to Daeho? Absolutely, but she also had more control over the situation than someone in her position would and was unnecessarily cruel at times.
Holding onto your morals/humanity in the face of adversity IS a choice, and that's what the comparison of So-i and Cho Yeong demonstrates.
I have more to say about So-i but that will be it's own post. I just wanted to put this out there before words failed me completely.
Let me know your thoughts!
