I love this piece, which I'm using as the character art for my main character, Aestrid. I originally found it in a pack of portraits compiled for use with Pathfinder: Kingmaker, but some reverse-image searching luckily found the original on DeviantArt.

A 5’ performer with sticky red hair steps up, as the other two in her main crew move about and set up props.

“Astred the Weaver”: Ladies, gentlemen, and those of other binaries, welcome!~ How is everyone doing on this year’s Carnival of Time?… Judging from the fact every one of you is wearing their masks, I can already tell everyone is in the festive mood~ Now, before we start the show, I must remind you of the rules of this festival...

Number 1. Keep your mask on throughout the course of this carnival. Don’t take it off!~

Number 2. Don’t eat the offerings that are left at the ofrendas! You don’t want your great grandfather’s ghost to go hungry, do you?

Number 3. Stay within the city limits to prevent our spiritual friends from crossing borders.

Number 4. Speaking of those spiritual friends, be respectful to them.

And Number 5, the most important one…. Never open the box that contains Majora’s Mask! You will see the artifact in question a few tents over. It is chained up tight to prevent any thievery, but I still feel I should remind all of you.

“Astred the Weaver”: Right, all the basics are out of the way. So let’s get on with the annual telling of the World That Ends in 3 Days~ This year’s performance has dear Lonnie starring as the Moon- the centerfold of this story. And for the children that can’t pay attention to basic theatrics, look at me- she flips onto a beam that was placed on the floor for her, and then contorted her body over so her legs and back curled over her. I can also be a moon~ Now, sit back, and enjoy the show….~

I really want to show how to train your Dragon to Aemond. One, dragons. Two, The Red Death looks a bit like Vhagar. Three, he would be pisses off that the main character looks like S1 Jace. Four, the twins and Astrid (Aestrid, if you will) look Targaryen. And ik Astrid would be his favorite.

dear friend, it's always hard for people to open up and talk about their feelings. and just as much as we try to stay positive and love ourselves more; it's not as easy as it seems. over the years i've been questioning myself whether it's worth to keep trying my best because instead of reaching the top, i keep falling on the ground. but every once in a while a light flashes through the night and we meet hope again. you've taught me that; to stay true to myself and embrace every beauty, every flaw and scar because as you said—we are beautiful inside and out. thank you for everything. love, a friend

This technique was first shown to me by Chris Morris, so I need to give him credit for this. We took it one step farther here at Production Plus and went from print to video.

As you can see in the video, this technique has everything to do with perspective and angle. For future test we will use a darker room, higher resolution projector, and a brighter projector. Also a new different surface might help.

6 Mid-Winter, 923

This was a very short downtime session, consisting of a single Sojourn move, leading to Hearten, and then trading some Wealth for Supply with the Treasure Hunter asset. The hirelings are just rolled into the Commander strength track.

Aestrid visits the bonding house and hires another two hirelings: Hamund and Oriabel. These two will be in the dungeoneering party. Arasen will stay with Gimvar and help him track down Herluin. Beltran will remain in town to guard Jasper, and help set up the house we're using as a base.

The group rests, picks up supplies, and gets Jasper settled into town. We make introductions to Danthan.

The horses are left with the stable boys at the public stables.

2014: Varen op het kompas

  Ik ben al van het album ‘Box’ onder de indruk geweest. Afgelopen jaar hebben de mannen van Aestrid weer opnieuw de studio van binnen bekeken en is het derde studio album ‘No Map Or Address’ uitgekomen. Melancholie en muzikaal soms meeslepend met een muur van geluid zoals ik dat ooit heb gekend van Phil Spector. Alleen hebben Bo Menning, Ray Murphy en Jurriaan Sielcken een andere benadering gekozen door meer de invloed van ‘avant-garde’, ‘post punk’ en ‘krautrock’ te gebruiken. Het is vooral gevoelsmatig bij mij waarom deze groep stappen heeft gemaakt en wat ook in de titel van het album tot uitdrukking komt. Het is varen op het kompas om enige richting te hebben.   Lange afstand   Meest opvallende nummer is toch ‘Long Distance Runner’. Alleen het intro maar ook het vervolg van het nummer doet denken aan U2 in hun beginperiode. Daarin klinkt toch de bewondering door voor één van de producer waar de illustere band uit Ierland mee heeft gewerkt, namelijk Brian Eno. Het stemgeluid wat Bo Menning past uitstekend bij deze track. Het is tegelijk de weg die Aestrid heeft afgelegd. Van wandelaars tot hardlopers met een lange adem. Het vuur uit je sloffen lopen, is het vuur wat terug te vinden is in ‘Long Distance Runner’. Wat je met geluid allemaal niet kunt overbrengen bewijst de groep uit Soest met het titelnummer. Je zit in een auto, maar weet niet welke richting je op moet. Op de autoradio klinkt ergens muziek maar het signaal stoort. Dan ineens hoor je de stem die zegt welke kant je het beste op kunt.  

  Verschil   Hoewel dit album verschilt van ‘Box’ komt Aestrid toch met enkele nummers die in het verlengde liggen van ‘Box’. In ‘N413’ is de synthesizer er weer in zoals die ook eerder is gebruikt bij ‘Telemark’ en ‘Im Einzelgang’. De eerste single van het album ‘Seattle Or Portland’ doet ook denken aan ‘Fair Start – Fire Hill’. Zelfs in ‘Seattle Or Portland’ komt het toch weer uit om keuzes te maken in het leven. ‘Billy’ het openingsnummer op ‘No Map Or Address’ is ingetogen. Het leven is verworden tot een monotoon bestaan met opstaan, slenteren naar afspraken en werk om vervolgens vermoeid thuis te komen waarbij jouw omgeving je als een vreemde aanstaart, omdat je niet meer de persoon bent die je ooit bent geweest.  

  3FM   Aestrid heeft de afgelopen jaren onafhankelijk geopereerd. ‘Box’ is nog uitgekomen op Suburban Records, ‘No Map Or Address’ hebben ze zelf uitgebracht. Terugtrekken met weinig en haast Spartaans werken aan nieuw materiaal. Het heeft wel opgeleverd dat ik samen met Marcus van Dam na een paar keer draaien van ‘Seattle Or Portland’ bij Alternative FM ineens dat nummer op 3FM in ‘3 voor 12’ voorbij hoor komen. Met een groeiende achterban op Facebook zal het een kwestie van tijd zijn, wil deze groep onopgemerkt blijven, omdat de muziek soms even ‘Onnederlands’ is maar eigenlijk ook weer wel als een nummer ‘Okeio’ uit de speakers komt, waarbij ik een loodgrijze lucht met windmolens voor mij zie en dat ik zomaar in een aflevering van Hollands Hoop terecht ben gekomen.   Foto's: Michel Mees Photography.

5 Mid-Winter, 923

A simple day.

Aestrid, Avella, Jasper and the Typhon's Fists arrive in Muntburg in the afternoon. The Fists bid them farewell; they are cordial, but not warm by any stretch.

Avella goes off to find the rest of The Ironsworn, while Aestrid accompanies Jasper and his wagon of possessions. Jasper puts down some gold to rent a two-story private apartment. He now has somewhere to stay, and The Ironsworn can call it their home.

Avella returns with the rest of The Ironsworn, plus Gimvar, and everyone goes to the The Flask and Scroll Tavern for drinks and a meal. Stories are swapped and much ale is drunk.

Finally, everyone is back in Muntburg and ready to do some dungeoneering again, which was supposed to be the focus of this campaign! In future I'm going to try hard not to get embroiled in these little dangling plot threads that take us away from Dwimmermount for too long. I still have to resolve Gimvar's missing person plotline, and Danthan is still waiting on us to make some progress on investigating the orc raids in the area.
