The curtains open, as the theatre troop came to the stage.

A 5’ performer with sticky red hair steps up, as the other two in her main crew move about and set up props.

“Astred the Weaver”: Ladies, gentlemen, and those of other binaries, welcome!~ How is everyone doing on this year’s Carnival of Time?… Judging from the fact every one of you is wearing their masks, I can already tell everyone is in the festive mood~ Now, before we start the show, I must remind you of the rules of this festival...

Number 1. Keep your mask on throughout the course of this carnival. Don’t take it off!~

Number 2. Don’t eat the offerings that are left at the ofrendas! You don’t want your great grandfather’s ghost to go hungry, do you?

Number 3. Stay within the city limits to prevent our spiritual friends from crossing borders.

Number 4. Speaking of those spiritual friends, be respectful to them.

And Number 5, the most important one…. Never open the box that contains Majora’s Mask! You will see the artifact in question a few tents over. It is chained up tight to prevent any thievery, but I still feel I should remind all of you.

“Astred the Weaver”: Right, all the basics are out of the way. So let’s get on with the annual telling of the World That Ends in 3 Days~ This year’s performance has dear Lonnie starring as the Moon- the centerfold of this story. And for the children that can’t pay attention to basic theatrics, look at me- she flips onto a beam that was placed on the floor for her, and then contorted her body over so her legs and back curled over her. I can also be a moon~ Now, sit back, and enjoy the show….~

I really want to show how to train your Dragon to Aemond. One, dragons. Two, The Red Death looks a bit like Vhagar. Three, he would be pisses off that the main character looks like S1 Jace. Four, the twins and Astrid (Aestrid, if you will) look Targaryen. And ik Astrid would be his favorite.

This technique was first shown to me by Chris Morris, so I need to give him credit for this. We took it one step farther here at Production Plus and went from print to video.

As you can see in the video, this technique has everything to do with perspective and angle. For future test we will use a darker room, higher resolution projector, and a brighter projector. Also a new different surface might help.

6 Mid-Winter, 923

This was a very short downtime session, consisting of a single Sojourn move, leading to Hearten, and then trading some Wealth for Supply with the Treasure Hunter asset. The hirelings are just rolled into the Commander strength track.

Aestrid visits the bonding house and hires another two hirelings: Hamund and Oriabel. These two will be in the dungeoneering party. Arasen will stay with Gimvar and help him track down Herluin. Beltran will remain in town to guard Jasper, and help set up the house we're using as a base.

The group rests, picks up supplies, and gets Jasper settled into town. We make introductions to Danthan.

The horses are left with the stable boys at the public stables.

Brother & Bones (with support act Aestrid) - Podium de Kelder (Amersfoort, NL) - 18.10.2014

You may know that quite often, I go to gigs alone, simply because it’s still better than not going at all. But that makes me appreciate it even more when a concert trip includes meeting up with dear friends, especially in a beautiful city like this:

Btw, it basically was a meet up of Snow Patrol fans, so if you are also one, I strongly recommend you to give Brother & Bones a listen as they seem to be a thing for us ☺

After having spent the afternoon strolling through the medieval city centre (wearing t-shirts in the sun on October 18th!!) and the evening at a lovely restaurant, we went to the venue before the doors opened. However, some hardcore fans were already there resp. arrived shortly after us, so that the two first rows were filled from the beginning. Admittedly, it was not that difficult as Podium De Kelder is a rather small venue (capacity ca. 350) with a tiny stage.

Support came from Aestrid, a local post-punk/krautrock band. Hm. I’m a bit torn here, tbh. Because throughout the whole set, I had the feeling that I COULD really like it, if only… if only a) I could hear the singer’s voice and b) the songs would be a tad shorter. Turns out I was right as back at home, I listened to their latest release No Map Or Address which is really quite good. They probably extended the songs for the live set because on the album, they don’t seem too long at all. There were however other elements of a good live experience, i.e. energy and passion and above all, a most excellent drummer. Hope it’s not just because of the small stage that they had him at the front because it was really fun watching him. Well – drummers probably don’t get enough credit in general…

For those of you who don’t yet know Brother & Bones, they’re a five-piece alternative rock band from London. They have so far released three EPs, the latest one a live recording, and their debut album is due for early next year. They’re already quite well known in Holland and so they played three gigs in a row there, including material from the upcoming album.

I’m really glad I took this opportunity to see them NOW so that in the not too far future, I’ll be able to say: „I saw them in the days back when…“ Because they’re going to make it big, I have no doubts about that. All the necessary ingredients are there: catchy sing-along rock songs with touching lyrics, great stage presence and interaction with the crowd – and the fact that they’re five good looking chaps doesn’t hurt either ;) I was however too close to the stage to get the whole band on one photo and as for the drummers (yes, plural!), my poor camera had no chance to cope with the bad light.

Brother & Bones are also very appreciative of their fans, they didn’t make us wait long for the encore nor for getting autographs and photos after the gig and they took the time to talk to everyone. My friend from Sweden had traveled to London last month to see them, but then the concert got canceled because of jury duty. When Rich (the lead singer) heard that story, he even offered her a signed A4-photograph for free – so nice!!

Here’s hoping for an extended tour after the release of their debut album – certainly wouldn’t mind seeing them there more than once ☺
