It's kind of sad how people realise that they are actually lonely when the adrenaline rush of summer merges with the quietness of autumn and eventually winter arrives. Everyone secretly craves to just belong, to something, to someone, to give this existence some meaning. Some get lucky if they can escape this feeling by changing the focus to the monotonous work that they committed themselves to do, but most remain stuck with a seemingly endless melancholy.

Is togetherness that hard in today's world? Did people really become this unreliable that they choose to suffer in the quiet instead? Did we really fail as a community? I find myself asking these questions often.

Winter was supposed to be a celebration time. Together around the bonfire singing away life, hosting small feasts every now and then to keep the souls warm, and going for long drives whenever it gets colder than usual to get coffee from one of those cozy cafés in one of those quiet streets, isn't that what December was about? When did we forget to be poetic with our lives? When did we become this fragile?

It was love that saved the world once. Love will save us again. But, how will love find you if you never utter which version of it you long for? How will you know what freedom is like if you never step out of your own shells?

Come on now. Tell me what you want. How can I keep you warm? How do I love you to make you less lonely? How do I take you back to the days when winter was beautiful and soft?

A First for Everything

So, I graduated like… wait, let me count on my fingers… three months ago? And honestly, I feel so unbelievably free, it's kinda terrifying. I’ve had way too much time to just sit, stare at my story folders, and, well… exist. But guess what? I’m kinda back. Out of nowhere, I got this crazy burst of motivation to actually do something. Shocking, right?

For the past few weeks, I’ve been writing, sending out job apps, and even learning how to drive (which, by the way, is way less stressful than deciding if my main character should die in the end). But now? Now I’m taking things seriously. I’m pushing my writing further, focusing on myself, and ignoring anyone who tries to tell me otherwise.

What Home Feels Like?

Me: Home isn’t a place. Them: Then what is it? Me: It’s the feeling of being safe in someone’s presence. The thing is it's not easy. Life, sometimes, just isn't easy. You are bound to witness the loss of a loved one, loss of a job or financial security or loss of a relationship if you are around for a while. The heart will break. Your knees will give up. You will be shattered by the uncertainty.

However, it doesn't have to be complicated. Don't try to hold onto something when it's being taken away. Let go when you lose. None of anything about this world is your own anyway. You receive things as a gift, you cherish and you return when it's time. People come and people go. Love visits and love leaves. The nature of nature is to be temporary. Look at yourself, even you aren't going to be here forever.

Flow. Let life be. Laugh, cry, accept, forgive, move on. What else is there to do?
