Mitologia - Criaturas

Sebastian rubbed at a hand over his face.
"I don't know if there's anything else Natalia. I came to you. I -"
"Sebastian!"
He gritted his teeth, spinning to see Dimitri hurrying toward them.
"What now? We're busy -"
"The Aes Sidhe have made their move! They've taken Cerullie. The Crowns say that their magic is growing unstable -"
Sebastian held up a hand, rubbing his temples.
"I am not Heir. Why are you telling me this? Tell my father or the boy -"
"Rigelus is joining them Sebastian. That's why I was told to find you."
Sebastian stilled, momentarily stunned. Of all the things to happen...he didn't think the boy had it in him.
But if they were looking for contenders. It wouldn't be his sons it be Sarai's children. Specifically Estrella, Orsus had noticed it first. Her lightning as she and Xaden and they had played as children.
Sebastian's eyes narrowed.
"I will not be your King during another war."
"Your father -"
"Fuck my father Dimitri. He can come speak to me if it's so urgent. I haven't hidden myself from court."
Dimitri threw a pleading look at Natalia. They'd all come a long way from the Blood Wars. He was aware they probably wouldn't survive another.
ANSWERED ASK ::
Sorsha fell to her knees, crawling toward Nikolai, she stared up at Aleksander, eyes wide.
"Why?"
His dark eyes slid to her, his hand raising again.
"Because this is my birthright, because she thought she knew best. Because she thought she was better than me Princess."
------
Sebastian stared at the report, unable to believe it. He looked to the sky, it had been yesterday hadn't it?
Oh gods.
Oh no.
He winnowed to Natalia, crashing through the Doranelle court.
Thankfully he found her easily enough in the hallway.
Her surprise turned to wariness as he got closer.
"What's happened?"
Sebastian held the report to her, summarizing for her.
"Aleksander has started a war we aren't going to win. He killed Alana to take the Witch Throne."
@siderealxmelody
The words almost took too long for her to understand them. Like Natalia didn't quite catch that, because surely Sebastian hadn't said what she thought he did, what she thought he'd uttered.
❝ Say that again. ❞
Her voice, quiet. Her tone, near deadly. But it wasn't Sebastian she held that anger towards. Not remotely. It wasn't even their son, for all such foolish actions he might have taken, such rash actions he might have embarked upon--
❝ Tell me there is more to it than that, Sebastian. He is not-- He cannot have been so reckless! ❞

What do you think about using Irish as a stand-in for a dying Indigenous language in a Gaelic-inspired fantasy story? It would be spoken by sí, but also just be the native language colonialism has done a lot of damage to. If you don't have the time/spoons to answer this, completely understand and I appreciate you just having your ask box open and taking the time to read this. No ill will meant, your earlier post is just making me reconsider things. I am am Irish person, but I've been living abroad most of my life.
i am not the irish police or anything but i think it is worth considering the impact of continuing to use irish in fantasy as an unnamed magical or dead language that belongs to the distant past without naming and acknowledging it as a real language that real people speak everyday in the real world
because a lot of people will see this unnamed language and think "this is a fictional language" or "this is a dead language" and then when they see irish IRL it will seem magical and mystical and they won't think about it as something entwined with politics and language rights and funding and people's everyday existence
and a lot of them will also not realise it is irish at all. it is obviously difficult in a fantasy setting to refer to things by their real names but you can often tell the difference between an author with knowledge of irish who has deliberately chosen to use it to evoke certain real world parallels, and an author who has borrowed it because they think it's mystical and none of their readers will be able to understand it (and part of the difference comes from how the reader is cued to experience that language and indeed whether it appears to occur to the author that the reader might well understand every word of it)
there are certainly ways to use Irish in fantasy that are respectful and whatever, but i would caution that having otherworld beings be the speakers (i assume this is what you mean by "sí" although usually the word needs a person word with it since it refers to the place not its inhabitants, hence aes sidhe, daoine sidhe etc) and presenting the language as a "dying" language feels like it falls into some of those harmful tropes
(irish in the real world is a minority language, but it is also language with a growing number of urban speakers, new words being coined all the time, influencers and social media as gaeilge, growing support for language rights in the north, etc. that doesn't mean it's not endangered. but it does mean it is not a relic of the past found only in forgotten villages that haven't changed in 100 years, and the popular depiction of it hasn't really caught on to that fact)
but also i'm not the irish police. i'm not even irish. the language is not in my blood, i just went out and chose to learn it bc it interests me (maybe this is part of why i resist the Magical Language Of Our Ancestors spiel so much)

...[*whispered*] wip wednesday?
(context under the cut)
(is this is too long?)
(i wrote a trixie/keris one-shot)
(it is my first written thing)
(i am so nervous!)
(trixie pov)
Penelope Bunce is once again whirling around our room like a frizzy haired tornado.  She has literally picked up and put down every single article of clothing, book, paper, or other object at least twice (except the box under my bed, thank goodness I spelled that).
She’s such a menace – their whole golden trio is.  People say I’m annoying because of my dust, short attention span, and possessive tendencies (well anyone who had to grow up in a lower faedom and pay a tithe to the aes sidhe of all your most precious belongings each year would end up being a possessive brat too! I just don't like to share if I can avoid it is all)...
…but I think the ‘golden trio’ made up of Snowbuncebelove should get an actual award for being the most annoying, self-absorbed students at Watford.  Nobody else would stand a chance - they’d win that award category every year.
Recently on discord my alpha @noblecorgi was lamenting the lack of lesbian smut in the CO fandom... they then got into an interesting discussion with @roomwithanopenfire about pixies/other fae folk. There was aaaalso a recent conversation about Niamh and their perspective in AWTWB about how the leads of CO had been living in their own bubble at Watford (unreliable narrators the whole lot of 'em!!)
Even though I don't write I loved the ideas that were shared, so I decided to try to smoosh them all together into a Trixie/Keris one-shot lesbian smut fic.
I got really excited about writing and caught up in the experience of it - it was so much fun!! Now I know why people do it! @roomwithanopenfire even beta read for me for which I am soooo grateful ♡♡♡♡
......aaaand then the next day I embarked on an intense perfectionist shame spiral (iykyk) and decided I should hide myself and my ideas away forevermore 🥲
However...... my brain itself is an unreliable narrator 🫠 And my recent therapy homework is to regularly try new things, mess up publicly, and be imperfect in order to rewire my brain to understand that I am still okay even when I am bad at things. Sooo I am posting part of my first fic here as therapy homework and for accountability as well as to continue on my plight of becoming consistently and unabashedly imperfect. Maybe someday I'll find the courage to post it on ao3 😬
I don't know about tags because I'm still so confused and shy about putting myself out here on tumblr 🙊 but I doooo want to say THANK YOU for tags and hellos! I love to read what y'all are up to, even though I usually wait til fics are posted in completion before starting (I'm too impatient to wait for chapter updates 🤪). xoxo!
my first wip wednesday!

Riders of the Sidhe and The Wild Hunt
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the Irish language, aos sí means "people of the fairy mounds" as "sídhe"  Some sources describe them as the survivors of the Tuatha Dé Danann who retreated into the Otherworld when fleeing the mortal Sons of Míl Espáine. Oftentimes, they are not named directly, but rather spoken of as "The Fair Folk", or simply "The Folk". - During the Conjunction of the Spheres, part of the elves from the main world, later described as the Aen Seidhe world, left their kin and, using portals, came to a new world. They took the new world for their own and started to call themselves Aen Elle - the Alder folks.  - Stories tell of the Riders of Sidhe kidnapping people and taking them to their world. -
The Wild Hunt are a group of Aen Elle elves from Tir ná Lia who also call themselves the Dearg Ruadhri in their native Elder Speech, meaning Red Riders.
Their true purpose was to find and capture slaves from other worlds, such as that of the Aen Seidhe, to serve the Alder Folk.  - The tradition of the "apple" island 'Avalon' among the ancient Britons may also be related to Irish legends of the otherworld island home of Manannán mac Lir (King of the Tuath Dé) and Lugh (Also Tuatha Dé Danann) (Reminder The Tuath Dé eventually became the aes sídhe, the sídhe-folk or "fairies" of later folklore) In the early 12th century, William of Malmesbury claimed the name of Avalon came from a man called Avalloc, who once lived on this isle with his daughters. (Cirillac'h confirmed?)

List of Mythic Beings by Type
Full alphabetical list of mythic creatures unsorted by type here.
Q: What is this?
A: This is a list of all Wikipedia articles that begin with the letter A and deal with a creature or person or group of people whose existence is found in accounts that don't neatly fit the modern scientific understanding of the world.
The purpose of this list is to be really open. I want writers (artists, LARPers, performers, people with imaginations, people with fun hobbies) to have an overview of the information available on Wikipedia.
Q: Are the categories from Wikipedia? If not, how do they work?
A: The groupings are my own. Their purpose is to let you quickly find tropes. So if you look under "Habitat" and then "Forest" you find Wikipedia articles referencing stories set in the woods. This could be creatures whose literal habitat is the forest, but it can also be a creature that hunts in the forest. I hope that especially groupings like "Changeling", for example, which lists all Wikipedia articles where a creature exchanges infants for their own, helps writers and other artists find what they are looking for. To make things a bit easier I also add remarks like "(some accounts)" which indicates that only some sources portray a creature a certain way and I give a bit more info so that you, dear reader, can compare and contrast creatures in the same category -- in one culture, the Changeling myth might indicate an extremely ableist society, in another culture, the Changeling myth is so abstract it's hard to imagine. I try to give people those kinds of contrasts, although of course what qualities I contrast will reflect my biases.
Q: I noticed some creatures that start with A only mentioned once in this list and not under every appropriate category.
A: I'm winging it. Please let me know when you have spotted an oversight and I'll gladly correct it. :)
TLDR
The following Wikipedia articles were too long for my project and I skipped over them. I have been working on this project for months, so every now and then I just skip articles: Angel, Angels (List), Angra Mainyu, Annunaki, Antichist, Aos Sí, Apophis, Apsara, Archon, Argus, Asha, Asmodeus, Aspidochelone, Atargatis, Aura, Azazel, Azrael.
I intend to eventually cover the above entries as well, but currently would rather like to complete this project for most mythic beings.
Supertype
Supertypes are not species or cultures or anything like that. They are my word for "belongs to a larger group".

Morality / Reputation
I'm not doing D&D alignment here. In fact, often the accounts about creatures are contradictory, some stories insisting they are all good and others they are all evil. I just classify them as both in those cases. I'll try and explain all these categories in more detail, but the main point here is to show how the storytellers in communities subjectively feel about these beings: are these beings helpers and we like them? Then probably "benevolent" is what they are considered. Are people calling them dangerous but insisting they are not wicked? Then that should be its own category. That's what this is based on: my best approximation (classifying only creatures where Wikipedia mentions it) of what people tell of these beings.

Strange Weakness
I don't judge, all things that chase off or defeat a monster are classified as "strange weakness" in this list. So don't wonder if some are totally mundane things that would work on humans or animals too. I could call it just "weakness" but I don't know, it's just a quirky classification scheme I guess.
(Afanc) maiden's lap (Agares) can be drawn into crystals (Aigamuxa) blind hunter (eyes on feet) (only sees prey through handstand or lying in sand) (Aillen) (poison counteracts Aillen's sleep spell, keeps poison user awake) (Aisha Qandicha) metal (Al) garlic, metal, onions, prayers, charms (Al Ana) (Wikipedia has complex descriptions of rituals to ward them off) (Ala - Ale) can be defeated by dragons or eagles (Ala - Ale) (Regional Version) Visible to Six Toed-Six Fingered People; House Shakes When they enter in human form (Ala - Ale) (Regional Version) herbs collected in levees and in places on a field where plows turn during plowing, both considered unclean because ala visit them (Ala - Ale) multiple supernatural entities bring hail and rain torrents, so since cause is unclear, custom is to bring large selection of antidotes: to bring a table in front of the house, and to put bread, salt, a knife with a black sheath, and an axe with its edge directed skywards on the table. By another custom, a fireplace trivet with its legs directed skywards, knives, forks, and the stub of the Slava candle were put on the table. (Alal) amulets (Alcyoneus) immortal as long as in his native land (Alp) lead amulet; sign of cross on diaper to stop mischief

Marizhel could step aside, let others have their moment. Let them die as Mala's flame green brighter and brighter. It was the smart thing to do. His daughters wouldn't understand, Mala wasn't cruel in the ways Thurr was.
But his own magic burned in his veins, vibrant and so so angry.
Forgive me my love. I - I'm sorry I couldn't choose the right path for you.
He lunged, shifting as he lunged at her. As his teeth closed around her throat and pulled. No more elate out of touch Aes Sidhe, this movement was for the people - was to take back their home.
He sipped he'd given his soul to this before he'd met Sarai. Maybe she'd understand, maybe the time they had was enough. He wouldn't survive this fight anyway.
He was sorry for this but he had to do something. He couldn't - he couldn't stand by and watch any longer.
Green eyes were wide as terror and fear flew through her, her lips parted in horror at the sight as she watched her own mate pull from her. Watched as her mate engulfed the life of her mother, as he seemed to throw everything away in that second.
Tears ran down her cheek, his message played in her mind. These were not tears for her mother, her mother who had pushed and prodded her onto a path she was not happy way, but for the loss of a mate and future.
Marizhel was throwing it all away. He was sacrificing it all for his cause, one she knew as they had spoken about it in depth but he had no fully shared everything. How could she hate him or condemn him for doing what was right, what he believed was right?
Her heart shattered through.
"Mama." Hallarial was at her side as the chaos began to erupt around them.
Their children. Eliza and Estrella already had their younger sisters at hand, Emelin was on guard watching the chaos unfold before them.
"We need to go." Sarai's voice broke when she said it, turning away from the last time she would see her mate. "We need to leave, now. Before they turn on us, we need to get to safety."

ANSWERED ASK ::
Sebastian clawed away from the rogue witches, the flameroot in his blood stopping his magic, stopping him from feeling Natalia. He fell to his knees in the snow. He looked to Aleksander, eyes narrowing.
"Are these yours son?"
He dragged himself to his feet, lunging for one of Aleksander's men. A killer based on the colors - he stabbed his fingers in his eyes. He followed him to the ground, taking his blade and snapping his neck in one fluid movement.
Without his magic he felt on his training, on the moves he learned in the fighting pit - Aes Sidhe, Kaden fought without honor. He stepped back away from the others. He focused on Aleksander.
"Did you know they drugged me?"
@siderealxmelody
He wanted to let the power lash out against every living thing in this world. Wanted to rip it all away, burn it all to ash. Leave nothing but dust and emptiness and utter darkness, a complete void, behind because no one in this realm deserved a moment's breath, a moment of life--
Aleksander said nothing as he stalked closer, darkness twisting around him. Snow crunched under his boots as each heavy footfall brought him closer to where his father fought. To where the violence had erupted and a few had fallen.
Pity, he thought, but Aleksander also could not find it in him to care that much.
Not about any of them.
Not like he should.
❝ And? ❞ Aleksander shrugged, looking at the older male as if his father spoke something that should concern him. That should mean anything of importance to him. The lands were falling to him, to his forces.
One by one by one...
He'd cover the world in the darkness it deserved, destroy all of it, for what they had done.
It was all that the realm deserved.
❝ You obviously have not died. The drug isn't fatal. ❞

The Fae have a long history with different cultures having different views on what exactly the creatures are. In some places, they are known as banshees, pixies, aes sidhe, elves, dwarfs, trolls, gnomes, and brownies. Depending on the area and what culture is there, you'll find different stories and different views on what fairies are.

A Fire's Light From Far Away
[Read on AO3]
Obiyukiweek 2023, Day 5: Woo
It was on four legs that Obi had run to Sereg, and it was on four that he left it, the ever-night sky bright with its new constellations. Not the ones his mistress has taught him— the hunter with his shield and sword aloft, the vain queen turned on her head, the two plows that carving Boann’s furrow through the stars. None of those hang in this night, so new that the air still smells of smoke and steel, beeswax and lethe but a fading memory.
But his hound nose scents it still, strong enough that he could follow it around in circles, spiraling closer and closer to where the enemy of his master’s master laid broken on the castle floor, cursing the day that the Wisteria line dropped from its branch. He’ll be taken soon, away from this knowe that only savors faintly of honey and deep into one steeped in it, forced to submit to a punishment fitting his crimes. What His Majesty will see fit to inflict him, only the gods can say; the aes sidhe are hard to kill as a rule, and the daoine harder still, but to revolt against a liege like this, against the high king himself—
Ah, well. It’s a good thing it’s not him who must swing that axe. Or pluck the bough from the rowan tree or whatever else kind of torture these half-gods can devise. No, his only duty is to his mistress, and it is to her that he races beneath this strange sky.
Beneath his fur, the wound itches. A four inch gouge torn into his side, not by iron or steel but by tooth alone. A glancing blow from a grinning mouth, a message writ deep in his skin. A man more mortal than he would not have weathered well, but copper had flooded his mouth and knit it true, and a few weeks care and rest had seen it healed, better than new. Save for the scar, of course, but he had not just been teasing when he told Sir that lasses loved a man with a little character carved into him.
Most did, at least. His mistress…well, she’d like the way it healed more.
*
What took days on the journey to takes mere hours from. The knowe’s shadows no longer resist his call, folding over his fur like a well-missed blanket. Sereg is no small domain, but with the blessing of his master and the surety of the shadows beneath his feet, Obi crosses it with no more trouble than a sleeping child draws breath.
He only slows when he feels that first tug of the veil on his fur, tendrils of awareness curling itself deep. Miss always shivers at this stage, telling him it’s spiderwebs against her skin, but to him— to him it is a caress, a promise. A seductive song that makes his magic sing, even as his geasa squeeze tight.
It’s then that he shifts, pelt ripping along his spine, ebbing up his legs in great, heaving waves until arms and flesh are bared. There’s no pain, not to return to himself, but iron and copper floods his mouth, so thick he has to spit to dull the taste. Obi rises from his crouch, brushing the last bit of wiry fur from his trousers. There’s miles left to go, ones crossed better with four legs rather than two, but well—
Obi takes his first step and nearly tumbles into the scattering leaves below him. Haah, it’d been a long while since he’d walked the earth in man’s shape. If he was going to see his mistress, better to practice, to look like he’d been a man more often than monster these past few weeks. He’d hate to slip in front of her, to show her just what sort of beast he could become if the right hand tugged on his lead.
She’s take Master to task, for one. It brings a wolfish grin to his lips, imagining the wag of her finger, the flush on her cheeks. What a lark it would be to see his cunning girl stand before an aes sidhe and accuse him of misusing his most versatile tool, his most loyal hound.
Or it would be, before she’d turn all that fire on him, each of her words rattling the chains lashed across his body, delivering their delicious sting. The air may be cold, but oh, a warmth flushes beneath his skin, stirring parts of him best left slumbering.
Haah, and that would be before she saw the scar. Oh, how the skin between her brows would pucker and furrow, the soft touch of her fingers tracing along the straight slash across his abdomen—
His muscles there tense with delicious anticipation, heart fluttering beneath the cage of his ribs. Only a few more miles now, he knows, tucking his hands deep into the pockets of his coat. His chin lifts, eyes tracing the shimmering cowpath across the heavens. Soon, soon.
With the shine of familiar stars washing over him, Obi turns, setting himself on the path he’s always been meant to walk. To the road that will bring him to his miss.
*
“Ho there!” A squat palm raises in greeting as the gates swing open, a squatter man following behind it, a bulldog made from human parts. “Is that our Good Neighbor’s best hound trotting home?”
“Careful there, Jirou,” Obi warns as the man ambles out to meet him. “There’s no hand holding this lead. You’re liable to get bitten if you play too rough.”
“Aye, aye, I know well enough.” With a fonder smile than a beast like him deserves, one of those broad hands claps his back, warmth burning through even the heft of his jacket. “It’s good to see you, boy. You’ve been well-missed around these parts.”
His tongue tangles around the taunt he’d meant to sling from it. “Ah, me?”
Jirou squeezes his shoulder, falling into step beside him. “Aye, you, lad. Thought Hiro might well pass away from the pining. Be glad the younger lot took the third watch tonight, otherwise you’d have no hope of getting to your bed before morning.”
Ah, but it not not his bed he longs to see, not when the embers smoldering in his chest flare to flames, burning with the same intensity they have since Miss fasted their hands at dawn’s first light and drew his oath from him, since she swore with all the power in her bones, you are mine. She’s here, somewhere, among the market’s press, and he—
“All right then,” Jirou chuckles. “I can see well enough that I won’t be getting a good word from ye until it’s done. Hie ye back to your mistress then, I trust ye remember the way?”
A laugh scrapes up from the depths of his chest, singed by the blaze within. “The hills could take my eyes and ears both, and I could still find my way to her.”
The guardsman may roll his eyes, may sigh like he’s a man lost, but his mouth twitches all the say. “You young men. Of with ye already, and spare me from the embarrassment of ye lovemaking.”
There’s a protest in him, a denial worn to its familiar shape, but there’s no patience left in him to still his feet long enough to give it. Not when that fire in him burns with so singular a purpose, not just a hazy glow at his edges, as it should be, but something that reaches out to him even as he reaches toward it, a different beast entirely—
He has only a moment to ponder it, to wonder at this new shape before it pulls his attention up the road, right to where the path draws to a small crest, and atop it— ah, he would know that color red anywhere, that taste of apples that washes over his tongue, spice making his nose sting. His hand rises with his heart to great her—
“Stay there!” His muscles clamp before his ears catch the command, rooting him to the spot. Oh, how sweet it is to be stung by her in this way, for his blood to rush and bring pleasure rolling over him, head to toe. He couldn’t move even if he wanted to, but haah, with his veins humming like this, he could hardly care.
At least until he realizes how complete the command is, how easily he submitted to it— too much, even for the pleasure of it. As if the compulsion had grown stronger in his absence, as if his body missed having her will hold him. As if something had changed.
It’s not until he sees how she runs, breathless and wild, that he realizes: perhaps it isn’t him who has.
Her hands clasp around his forearms, so hard he’s surprised his bones don’t creak from the pressure. She might even leave a mark, and ah, that’s best not thought about when he can feel her heat burning through his sleeves, when she’s so close that the scent of her magic clogs his nose. It doesn’t so much brush over him as swallow whole, enveloping him as firmly as she once had. Years ago now, back when His Majesty had first sent her to Lyrias, but it seems his body has not forgotten the feel.
And yet the physical distance remains. Already this is too close; copper must flood her mouth to touch him so, a bite so bitter most flinch, but not his miss. No, she just stares at him as if she wishes she could close this space between them, as if she were a woman lost and left to thirst, and he her first glimpse of water.
“You can be at ease, my lady.” It’s too breathless for his liking, but he cannot bear to raise his voice, cannot dare to find the strength. “Your sweet prince is tucked back in his knowe, safe and sound. The Lady Kiki and Sir as well.”
He might have slapped her for how she flinches, jaw slack as her sense comes back to her. “Oh, Zen…? I…ah, good. That’s…good to hear.”
Her grip eases, though it does not remove itself. No, instead her thumbs rub where they lay against his arm’s soft underbelly, tickling the skin at his wrists.
“Miss,” he breathes, confusion turning to mist between them. “It’s late. You should be abed.”
“I couldn’t…” Her lips press together as she looks up at him, just as lost as he. “I couldn’t sleep. Not when you were coming home.”
“How did you know that I would be…?” He shakes his head. “Did Sereg send word?”
“No.” Her brow furrows so sweetly his lips tingle. “I just…knew.”
His ribbon weaves through her hair, his awareness of it throbbing with the beat of his heart. She just knew. The way he’d just known in Tanbarun, her presence so bright and obvious the moment he’d fallen through Umihebi’s knowe.
Miss sits back on her heels, staring up into his eyes with an intensity that commands him as thoroughly as he words ever have. “Welcome home, Obi.”
The warmth that floods him is nothing like her sting. His breath catches, eyes blowing wide.
“Oh!” Her gaze drops to where she holds him, hands slipping from where they rest. “Sorry, I—”
“Miss,” he manages, but there’s no words that can convey the joy that pulses through him, no action that can dispel this lightning in his body save lifting her in his arms. He spins her, giddy, laughter flinging from his lungs with abandon, and—
“Ah!” And, yikes, that’s more than a sting. “That’s a lot of pain.”
“Obi.” She struggles against him until he sets her down, but then she does not flee, oh no, she bends closer, gloves probing at his side. “Did you—?”
“Ah, Miss, just a little flesh wound.” He waves a hand. “Nothing to worry yourself about. Didn’t even tear a stitch.”
“Stitches?” Her mouth pulls into a thin line. “I think I’ll be the judge of that.”
“Now, now.” His head fly up, placating. “There’s no sheep gut still strung through me! I promise I took good care of it. Let them sew it up real nice an everything.”
“Hm.” She’s hardly convinced. “Take off your shirt.”
It’s a concerted force of will to keep his hands off his jacket, but he fights it, if only to tease, “My lady, your wish is ever my command, but surely you don’t mean to ravage me in the marketplace.”
Her gaze rakes up him like nails on flesh, and ah, maybe she does.
“Fine, keep it on until we get to the exam room,” she tells him, a small smile on her lips. “Then we’ll see just how well you’ve behaved.”
“Oh, Miss,” he hums, following after her. “I’m sure you’ll find I’ve only been the best boy.”

Forever War Verse Realms
I thought I'd make an actual organized list of the different realms in this verse and their inhabitants. Realms can be seen as worlds or they be seen as different countries within one world depending on what each partner wants!!
Vanaheim
Inhabitants: Asteri
Description: The home of the Asteri, who feed on magic. It is a realm of splendor and decay, where the remnants of a cataclysmic civil war still linger. Those who still linger here are just getting by or scheming to rise above the poverty they've found themselves in.
Helheim
Inhabitants: Valg
Description: A dark and foreboding realm where the Valg feed on emotions and manipulate memories. It is a place of shadows and secrets, filled with spies and assassins.
Alfheim
Inhabitants: Fae & Aes Sidhe
Description: A realm of natural beauty and magic, where all Fae have animal forms. Primals, who can shift into dragons, protect all Fae-kind. The political landscape is intricate, filled with intrigue and subterfuge.
Nidavellir
Inhabitants: Mages and Witches
Description: A land rich in arcane knowledge and raw magical power. It is divided into the Orders of Vitaemancy, Elementomancy, and Fabrimancy for mages. Witches practice soulcraft engage in sacrificial blood magic. It is a place of learning, inherent magic, and sacrifice.
