Me explaining the targ family tree and history to my friends who don't wanna know:

AU idea: all the Targaryen monarchs can speak with/be advised by the kings who previously wore the crown they were coronated with.

-Daeron the Young Dragon planning his new and improved Dornish conquest alongside Aegon the Conquerer himself.

-Viserys II getting to see and speak with his beloved brother again after he becomes king.

-Daeron II not knowing this rule when he chooses his fathers crown for political purposes, and finding himself tormented by Aegon IV and his malicious mockery all throughout the First Blackfyre Rebellion.

-Aegon V being guided by the duo of Aegon III and Viserys II as he tries to enact his pro-smallfolk reforms, eventually being torn two ways as Viserys encourages his plan to resurrect the dragons while Aegon warns that it will bring nothing but destruction.

-Aegon IV intentionally misguiding Aerys II to fuel his paranoia and push him further into madness, while Daeron II tries desperately to pull Aerys back from the brink.

Aerys II: The "Imma going to burn this whole shit to the ground" super-mad one. (Without dragons even).

Robert I: The "Fuck the Targs" one. (Had a Targaryen grandmother).

Queen Rhaella Targaryen, wife to the Mad King Aerys II Targaryen. Rhaella was forced to marry her brother by her mother and father. She birthed Prince Rhaegar Targaryen and Prince Viserys Targaryen the beggar king. Her last child was Princess Danaerys Stormborn the mother of dragons. She died while giving birth to Danaerys leaving her two youngest children as the last known Targaryens.

Ranking villainous Targaryen men from most to least interesting

Aerys II

I love that you can't blame the way he turned out on being "a product of his environment" yet you can see a clear downfall from what was once a man with some morality to the monster he became. And it was entirely avoidable & his own fault.

There are some times you can empathize with him like when he heavily he grieved his dead children, or the fact he was an SA victim.

But he's also an abusive murderer who inflicted sexual violence on his wife numerous times, was racist towards his daughter in law who he forced his son to marry & grandchildren, got aroused by burning people alive, ordered for the heads of the sons of his cousin Steffon who died for him, & tried blowing up a city.

Aemond

Aemond is what you get when you neglect your adhd child, make fun of him and mock his bravery so he gets a living nuke to prove himself to you, then gets attacked for claiming a living nuke that he's by nature allowed to have, then victim blame him for getting attacked & defend the attacker who disabled him.

He's not the one dimensional character y'all claim he is. His youth coupled with his experiences also makes his irrationality & volatility pretty understandable. Also his relationship with Alys Rivers is so fun to speculate on.

Viserys III

He was so horrible to Dany but he loved her at one point, he raised her as a seven year old child, and he loved Rhaella so much everything good in him died when he had to sell her crown to survive. His story is so tragic and heartbreaking I'm never getting over it.

Aegon II

Another product of his environment for the most part but I'm not condoning his bs. He had a really well written arc though and his bond with Sunfyre was beautiful.

Aegon IV

He pisses me off so bad but the drama he created was so good.

Bloodraven

The Blackwood/Bracken beef is boring as shit but he's interesting otherwise.

Maegor

Pure evil trope is kinda boring as hell but we do see the slightest bit of humanity from him in his interactions with Aenys & Visenya which piques my interest a little.

Daemon

He has some good moments I guess, I don't find him too interesting though. Dare I say his relationship with Nettles is the most interesting thing about him?

Bittersteel

Homophobia makes him lose a lot of aura points but his love for & loyalty to Daemon Blackfyre is admirable, even if the rest of his actions are not.

Aerion

He funny but he's so one dimensional from what we've seen.

Maelys

I want to say Maegor LITE but that would be offensive to Maegor.
