Here for all things insane, controversial, problematic, intense and interesting. I love many things and hate many things. Multifandom, history, art, books and whatever else interests me. Not interested in the moral judgments of strangers on the internet, so if you feel the need to let me know that I don't conform to your worldview, save yourself the time and embrace the Tumblr way: at the first vaguely unwelcome post, block and fly elsewhere to live your life.

"For our reboot, we're aiming for a modern, respectful, and inclusive approach."
You might as well stop saying it as if it were the novelty of the century; everyone knows by now that it's an excuse for a shoddy product that only cares about the identity checklist and not offending X and Tumblr (to whom you have given power), and nothing about the plot, the characters, or the soul.

“I don’t do this for ecological reasons,” “I don’t do that for the environment,” “I don’t shop,” “I don’t travel,” “I don’t eat”… basically, environmentalism is a self-imposed life sentence.

Two things I think would have made it into Nana's ending, as objectively as possible:
Nana x Hachi becomes canon. Maybe not with a fairytale happy ending where they get married and raise their children together, but I think they would have overcome their internalized homophobia and the imposition of heteronormativity to openly acknowledge their feelings as romantic love. The ring Nana O. keeps isn't for Ren, but because it's identical to Hachi's: a symbol of their spiritual commitment to each other.
The circle closes with the discovery that they both have a daughter named Satsuki: the timing is tight, but if Nana O. was pregnant shortly before Ren's death and Nana K. gets pregnant again not too long after Ren Ichinose's birth, then they could have daughters in the same year or at least close in age like the two Nanas are.

I wonder how anyone could read Nana and believe that Nana and Hachi aren't in love with each other.
The manga is more explicit lesbian than Utena, and as far as I'm concerned, it's nothing more than a huge story about imposed heteronormativity.
For me, Nana O. is bisexual, and Nana K. is a lesbian who doesn't know it yet.

I sincerely believe that selfishness is an underrated virtue.
And I think we should be wary of those who readily accuse those around them of selfishness. It's a mirror accusation, another way of saying "You should think of ME first," nothing more than self-centeredness, narcissism, and selfishness in disguise.

Between journalists/opinion makers and lawyers, I think it's a neck and neck as to which one I hate the most.

I think Phoebe is the character who gets worse the most as the seasons go by: she becomes increasingly mean and sarcastic in a bad way when dealing with her friends and is extremely inconsistent when trying to help them emotionally.

Sorry, but no. I don't care if I'm irresponsible, politically incorrect, or unpopular. No, I'm not willing to pay a "small" and "absolutely justified" surcharge to buy eco-friendly products that are already incredibly expensive, and I never have a dollar in my pocket.
It doesn't matter how many times companies ask, nor how swollen their pockets already feel, nor how happy they are to have found a way to raise prices AND be thanked for it, , or how much the environmentalists supported by mom and dad scream me.
Leave me alone.

Granted this isn't a hateful place, I'm skeptical of the talk of Daenerys' magical Valyrian/dragonlord blood.
Doing the math, Dany's Valyrian blood percentage is somewhere between 10 and 3%, depending on how you factor in certain factors (are the Conquerors fully Valyrian? Is Velaryon blood "just as good" as Targaryen blood even if they weren't Dragonlords? Is Larra at least part Valyrian?).
Unless Valyrian blood is hyper-dominant as well as magical, or there's a lot they don't know about female lines, I find it hard to buy into this "one drop of blood" rhetoric.

Friends 7x08: I totally understand Ross's frustration at not remembering all 50 states. The equivalent in my country is less than two dozen and I know very few people who can list them all in a row anyway.

Honestly, I think the first breakup scene between Ross and Rachel remains one of the most heartbreaking, especially considering this is a sitcom.

Volantis
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Volantis is one of the nine free cities of Essos.
It considers itself the legitimate heir of Valyria, to the point that the city's elites are made up only of those who can demonstrate uninterrupted Valyrian descent. These are also the only ones allowed to hold political office, through membership in one of the two parties, the elephants and the tigers.
Volantis is also a heavily slave-holding city, where the worship of the Red God is widespread.

Nostalgia time.
I usually don't like ships with their protagonist x protagonist "we work together of course we fall in love" trope, but I love these two.
