When it comes to Addam & Jaime’s storylines as knights, there is one specific idea which further connects them as pawns of the adults in their life.

Jaime was removed from the position as his family’s heir as an insult to Tywin. King Aerys and his Hand have a tense power dynamic. By taking away Tywin’s golden heir, it’s like a slap to the face for the proud Lord of Casterly Rock. Jaime, for his part, does not know that his sister’s machinations are used by the King to humble his father. All Tywin is left with is Tyrion, the heir he never wanted. It’s only later that Jaime figures out the reason why the King eagerly allowed him into the Kingsguard even if doing so angered Tywin, who later resigns from the position as Hand.

Shortly after Corlys became Hand to Rhaenyra, he moves to have Addam become the new heir to Driftmark. Addam’s half-brother, Jacaerys, even advocates for his appointment as heir. It’s a political move to appease Corlys, the proud Lord of Driftmark and the new Hand. It’s also a big insult to Queen Rhaenyra. A Westerosi noblewoman allowing her late husband’s bastard son to be ahead of her own trueborn son in their family’s line of succession (the actual parentage of the boys doesn’t matter, only the public perception of it) is practically unheard of. The Velaryon heir would have been Joffrey, since Jacaerys is already named heir to the Iron Throne at that point. Instead Addam becomes the new heir. Corlys’ actions show Rhaenyra the extent of his power and that she should not forget her place, even if she is the Queen. Addam obviously would not know about the subtle power struggle happening between the Queen and her Hand.

Jaime: Aerys II filled KL with wildfire and wanted to burn the whole thing to the ground when faced with defeat. On purpose! Because he had a volatile temper and a deeply emotional relationship with fire and this was the most effective way to create a massive conflagration to go out in a blaze of glory?

GRRM: Did you know that historically some Targs became obsessed with wildfire in order to replace their lost dragons, either building fake ones or even drinking it to become a literal dragon? They crave the power of dragons so badly? Wildfire is just a stand-in for dragonflame?

Targ stans: I can't believe Cersei/JonCon/"literally anyone but the one who recently recreated dragons and just discovered how awesome hunting from dragonback is" is going to burn KL with wildfire. How thematically appropriate yet tragic. 😔 The dragons are totally a good thing though, their purpose is for something heroic. 😌

i only know what i saw on twitter, but apparently, in one of the concerts Liz was in that little area between the stage and the pit, one of the boys threw a guitar pick and it landed near her, so the fans started to yell at Liz over the pick. As if Liz would want the pick. And as if she wanted picks the boys wouldn't just give all of them to her. They adore her. Michael literally pointed at her in one of the shows and said she was his best friend. And the fact that they did that to one of their mothers? glad chae acknowledged her mistakes and shortcomings and apologized to both jihye and ning. and im glad jihye didnt forgive her right away. also that cute moment between chae and her mom?? 🥹 mrs. kim backstory??? 😭😭😭 wonyoung telling the girls about yujin and chaewon confessing about dating jihye with aeri accepting both??? we love a redemption arc 🥹😭😌 and also fuck chaewons dad. fr 😤

ok i do have criticism for this week and: what the fUCK was the point of that class presentation scene with the kid in drag????????? like there was absolutely NO reason for it narratively, it was just—yet again—placing queer femininity as the butt of the joke. and then it got WORSE like it was already such an unfunny moment in the classroom (when i said i loved sassy gay and bitchy bi besties i didn’t mean like this 🥲) but they continued this already unfunny ‘joke’ outside and i was just cringing the entire time. not even t8s is free from harmful stereotypes, i fear 😔

and onto my favourite scene this week: that coming out scene?????? THE WAY I HELD MY BREATH WHEN JUNPYO WAS READING THE TEXTS AND HIS FACE DROPPED WHEN HE REALIZED WHO THEY WERE FOR... but junpyo sweetie i never doubted you I HAD TEARS IN MY EYES WHEN JUNPYO SAID IDC IF U LIKE GUYS OR GIRLS HOW COULD U KEEP THIS FROM ME but ofc he didn’t stay mad and he looked genuinely SO happy for jihyun THE WAY HE HUGGED HIM AND GIGGLED ABOUT HIS CRUSH AAAAAAAAAH also i did the math and junpyo and jihyun have been besties since they were SIX like...... that bond truly runs so deep i hope now that jihyun is coming into himself as a person he’s more open with junpyo now i love them sm :(💕
