            aeri's  fear  and  concerns  about  their  situation  were  completely  valid,  and  if  hyunki  needed  any  more  proof  that  he  knew  her  well,  it  was  the  fact  that  he  had  already  anticipated  this  reaction.  cringing  at  how  condescending  his  so-called  "  fiancé  "  had  been  toward  aeri,  he  gently  guides  her  into  a  chair  before  pulling  up  another  one  to  sit  directly  in  front  of  her  -  just  like  the  last  time  they  found  themselves  in  this  very  room.  with  pleading  eyes  locked  onto  hers,  the  swimmer  starts  making  his  case,  "  listen  to  me,  she  doesn't  have  enough  proof  that  it's  that  ring.  and  if  she  asks,  i'll  just  say  i  bought  it  for  my  mom.  what's  she  going  to  do  ?  walk  up  to  my  mom  and  ask  herself  ?  "  granted,  miyoung  seemed  unhinged  enough  to  actually  try,  but  hyunki  remained  confident  that  she  was  still  too  weak  to  act  on  it.  "  you're  okay,  okay  ?  we’re  okay.  and  i'm  close  to  a  breakthrough  .  .  i  just  found  out  today  that  their  family's  long-time  bodyguard  was  fired  -  and  trust  me,  it  was  1000%  not  on  good  terms.  i  think  if  i  can  befriend  him,  we  might  finally  get  some  real  answers.  "

༊⋆｡˚                       his attempt to calm her was appreciated but she still felt panicked . hyperventilation starting to slow down as she took a few deep breaths before looking in his eyes —- her body trembled a little before rubbing her eyes with the back of her hand and trying to steady herself , ❛ she .. she saw the ring , asked where i’d got it from in quite an accusatory manner —- ❜ she wanted him to hold her but that would contradict everything she just said . ❛ i said my mother got me it and she said something about it being a limited edition —- they only make a few a year and now it was very expensive , ❜ she averted her eyes sadly , ❛ as though i wouldn’t be able to afford it . ❜ stretched out hand showcased the ring as it caught the light before she started to pull it off . ❛ you can’t get caught . ❜

 a  little  something  for @charmfox  to  celebrate  aeriday  !

 a  little  nervous  when  it  comes  to  birthdays,  just  getting  that  little  info  about  her  coming  birthday.  standing  outside  as  hyunwoo  was  waiting  for  aeri  to  appear,  who  he  had  asked  to  join  in  for  hot  chocolate,  the  weather  getting  colder  too  so  that  was  perfect.  looking  around  and  waiting,  he  was  dressed  in  causual  clothing  ;  just  hoodie  with  jeans,  not  wanting  to  stand  out.  still  hiding  the  fact  he  was  from  a  rich  family  but  he  was  there  to  spend  the  day  with  aeri  and  give  her  a  good  one  too,  wanting  her  to  be  happy  on  her  birthday.

 whistling  around  until  he  sees  a  short  female  running  towards  him,  which  he  knew  straight  away  that  it  was  aeri.  smile  widening  and  body  turning,  hand  up  for  a  wave.  ❛  hey,  you  made  it  !  ❜  he  says,  gesturing  for  her  to  go  inside  the  cafe  he  had  picked,  walking  inside  he  tells  aeri  to  find  a  good  seat,  to  send  her  off  so  he  could  order  their  drinks  and  something  sweet  to  eat  on.  waiting  a  moment  more,  carrying  the  tray  over  to  the  table  picked.  ❛  be  careful,  the  hot  chocolate  is  really  hot  and  i  got  us  a  little  cake.  ❜  he  smiles  at  her  as  his  hand  slips  inside  the  pocket  of  his  hoodie.

 ❛  i  wasn't  sure  if  you  ..  wanted  anything,  but  ..  if  i  remember  right,  it's  your  birthday  ?  ❜  he  says,  hoping  he  had  gotten  it  right.  pulling  a  box  out  of  his  pocket  as  he  slides  it  over  the  surface  of  the  table.  it's  pink,  wrapped  in  white  silk  ribbon.  ❛  i  wasn't  sure  if  you  like  ..  gold  or  silver,  but  i  went  with  silver.  ❜  he  smiles  shy,  looking  down  now  and  going  for  his  drink  as  he  waits  aeri  open  the  box.  ❛  it's  a  bracelet  with  a  charm.  ❜  he  says  and  takes  a  sip,  feeling  the  hot  liquid  burn  his  upperlip  but  he  doesn't  mind  it.  ❛  happy  birthday,  aerbear.  ❜  he  says,  gaze  up  to  her  again  and  he  just  smiles  at  her,  hoping  and  wishing  ..  she  likes  his  birthday  gift  for  her.

      "  you  better  stop,  you  look  absolutely  adorable  when  you're  asleep  -  and  yes,  that's  supposed  to  sound  creepy.  "   two  digits  grasp  around  the  chubbiness  of  aeri's  cheek,  smiling  warmly  at  her  and  keon  having  already  reacted  with  a  drooling  emoji  to  the  picture;  not  one  to  text  much,  which  was  why  they  found  themselves  always  dragging  him  out  to  get  some  sunlight.  as  aeri  just  stood  silently,  meiling  grinned  a  bit  before  greeting  the  cashier  and  spoke  between  them.   "  she  said  it  was  a  good  choice  ~  "   nudging  her  bestie  a  bit.

      when  the  two  made  it  out  of  the  airport  and  toward  her  family  home,  the  door  flung  open  and  the  sound  of  her  mother  almost  sobbing  instantly  made  meiling  tear  up  as  well.  being  embrace  in  a  warmth,  familiar,  hug  was  just  what  she  had  been  needing  on  top  of  tough  practices  and  life  style  in  general.   "  i  brought  aeri  !  "   it  didn't  take  a  second  for  meiling's  mother  to  mirror  the  hug,  but  on  aeri  instead,  her  mother  quick  to  switch  to  her  slightly  broken  english  however,  the  effort  made  it  endearing  instead  of  horrible.   "  we  were  hoping  we  could  stay  a  couple  of  days  ~  "   mother  isntantly  nodding,  welcoming  them  inside  and  she  flopped  down  onto  her  childhood  bed.   "  it's  so  crazy  she  never  changed  my  room  ...  "

༊⋆｡˚                       when she awoke in a drooling mess .. she n o t i c e d the notification and the picture attachment before glaring at meiling . ❛ you can physically see the saliva from my mouth .. that’s horrendous ! ❜ the double ticks signalling everyone had seen it —- meaning she was in for a treat when they were reunited with keon . he was going to rip the shit out of her . ❛ at least yours was cute because it’s impossible for you to have a bad angle ! ❜ .. pretty unfair , if you asked her .

gasping at the floral delights , she clasped her hands together and reached for her card . handing it to the florist with a bright smile and the most basic mandarin she could make sense of before looking to her bestie ( pathetically ) for help . ❛ i may be a language genius with three under my belt but .. haven’t quite cracked this one yet ! ❜ she giggled before reaching for a beautiful red bow to contrast with the lilies . grabbing some chocolate , they finally made the journey to meilings mothers home . aeri standing aside momentarily to let them have their moment .

༊⋆｡˚                       as the joke was made , she felt that pure sensation of safety wash over her again . had barely known this girl for less than 48 hours but here they were openly flirting and joking around . felt as though they’d known one another a lifetime . soulmate behaviour . ❛ oh , i purposely aimed for your heart . think of it as thought widow had a cupid skin ! ❜ cute teasing once again , her hand lingering against her shoulder as she squeezed gently before leaning back down towards her ear , gentle whisper for only her to hear , ❛ let’s stream tonight .. we can have a sleepover .. ❜ both knew that a sleepover nowadays didn’t actually mean that . ❛ but genuinely , ❜ she shifted a little bit to get closer , her knees touching jihye’s outer thighs as she grasped her hand and toyed with her fingers , ❛ i’d be honoured to be on one of your streams and fall asleep with you by my side afterwards .. ❜

usually, january runs when he gets caught by civilians. doesn't even say anything so he can't give them a voice to identify, he just takes off running until he's far enough away ( or until his chest hurts if anyone decides to chase after him ). he's cemented to the spot this time, though, elbow deep in someone's broken car window. should he play dumb? wait for her to speak and then pretend he doesn't know whichever language comes out of her mouth first? if she's a local, he's a tourist. and if she's a tourist, then he's a local. that works, right? so he stays there, perfectly still so he won't set off the car's alarm, waiting for her to say anything...

his old self would have been quite oblivious to any hints but things were different now–- he was different. a changed man. at the back of his head lingered thoughts related to the conversation he overheard between aeri and their new friend at the midsummer festival earlier this year. the subtle hints were also something he noticed but never audibly noted for he had his own stance about marriage. maybe he had a more realistic and pessimistic outlook on that due to how his parents ( and many more ) ended up. it wasn’t like he didn’t have eternity at his disposal now, so why would he cage himself? if he was to be selfish, it would have taken way, way too long to take a step so important. but then there was she … she just–- had this effect on him that nobody else ever had ( or would have for that matter, he’s sure of that ). something about the idea of seeing her in a white dress with a pretty bouquet in hands has been stuck in his head. watching her dance with ylva, with flowers tucked in her braided hair plus the cute flower crown … the little white dress she had on to blend in with the other girls. but she was never able to blend in. she was the prettiest among them all, with her radiant smile and her contagious laughter! something deep within him m o v e d, as if with ease the switch was flipped. since then, so many thoughts went in and out of his head, so many good timings were missed but maybe he has done that purposely for he knew a better time for such a special moment. the sun was setting behind the tall mountains, earlier than it used to, reminding of the upcoming cold months. standing by the window, he waited while looking at the small box in his hand. opening it, inside was a pretty silver ring with a few stones on it. they reflected the flickering fairy lights above his head, making him smile to himself. he was ready and he knew the answer. closing the lid and tucking the box into the pocket on his jeans, heedo sighed softly when he noticed the familiar figure of his girlfriend approaching the building. remaining by the window for a while, he moved towards the door only when she twisted the key to unlock it. the smile on his face only grew bigger and he threw his arms in the air as soon as she was in his line of sight. “ baby! ” a few strides and he was by her side, already pulling her into his arms. “ i missed you. i missed the birthday girl so much! happy birthday, angel! ” he cooed, releasing her from his suffocating hug only to then start peppering kisses all over her cute face. after their small greeting, he let her go freshen up first. he didn’t lie when he said he prepared them dinner and bought her a cake ( which was absolutely the cutest ) but she had no idea about the actual surprise. nobody knew and it wasn’t the easiest thing because everybody and their mom would know it wasn’t a virtue of his to keep secrets like that. he managed though! when aeri reemerged, all fresh and comfortable, he knew it was the right time. standing in front of her, he looked down for a moment only to see the questioning look in her eyes. adorable. falling on one knee, he fished the little velvety box from his pocket. “ i know i’ve told you how marriage for me is not important and equals a cage. my view was totally different from yours due to our upbringings i suppose but someone special came by and showed me i was wrong. i’m thankful that you respected me and never once tried to push that on me just because you wanted it. it’s very selfless and … honestly, that’s so you. i’ve known you long enough to know that. it’s my turn to respect you and your wishes, to make you happy. it’s my one and only wish. ” making a small pause, he opened the little box, revealing the engagement ring in it. “ hân minh bè, will you marry me? ”
