For my buds in Australia, Kids Help-line has been an amazing resource for me over the years, they're for anyone aged 5 to 25 years and I'm pretty sure they're free to call, even on a mobile!
Tumblr media
They have a bunch of resources on their website, and free phone or web (even email?!) counselling services.
Tumblr media
And, unlike places like Lifeline, they aren't just a crisis service, so you can call and talk to someone supportive/mental health literate even if you aren't actively suicidal, even if there's just something that doesn't feel quite right...
Tumblr media
I'm gonna age out of their service soon lol and would just really like to suggest y'all check em out, esp. if you've avoided calling a helpline before because you aren't sure if your problems are "serious" or "valid" enough to talk about (they always are).
Tumblr media
See below for real time footage of me saying goodbye to Kid's Helpline:
Tumblr media
In my experience they have always been kind, they're very nice, don't be afraid to call ❤️

More triplet tim PLEASEE
Aye, aye!
@batman-soup your idea just gives on giving omg what magic are you cooking in your head bc this prompt literally went absolutely crazy in mine
Commissioner Gordon was a decorated veteran of the GCPD, having lasted in the force longer than most without buckling under the pressure and temptation of being a dirty cop. That means he’s seen some shit, and he’s been in some shit. Even when Batman made his debut, even when he had to cover for Bru- ahem, Batman’s fool ass, James Gordon hadn’t even considered stoping in his effort to better the GCPD.
As he blankly stared at Batman, who looked as tired as Gordon felt, and the- not one, not two, but three- Robins following him, Commissioner Gordon seriously considered going down stairs and handing in his letter of resignation on the spot.
“Batman,” he greeted the Dark Knight, in the tone one might use when saying “Batman, what the fuck?!”
“Commissioner Gordon.” Batman said, sounding like he swallowed gravel and spent his nights crying instead of beating up Gotham’s criminal underbelly. “This is… the Robins. They’ve been… switching out until they were all ready.”
“Hey, Mister Gordon!” One of the Robins chirped. Commissioner Gordon pinched himself. Maybe he got micro-dosed with fear toxin? Commissioner Gordon nodded at the Robin who spoke.
“Commissioner Gordon!” The second one smiled at him.
“Commissioner Gordon.” The third one said, shoulders back.
“Have there always been… three of you?” Gordon asked, perplexed.
“You’ve actually all met us before, but don’t worry about it! Whatcha got for us this time?”
“Robin,” Batman growled.
“Yes?” “Yeah?!” “What.”
Commissioner Gordon chugged his coffee, to avoid laughing at Batman’s exasperated demeanor. Privately, he wished the coffee was a strong, black out worthy drink, and that the Robins gave Batman the stress Gordon experienced at Batman’s antics.
“It is important.”
“Yeah, yeah, we got it, B.” Regular Robin, Gordon deemed, waved him off.
“But we’re currently not taking mental health advice from you, you walking therapist’s wet dream.” Serious Robin scoffed.
“So you can stick your opinion where the sun doesn’t shine!” Chirpy Robin said. Gordon had wanted to name him happy Robin, but he’s not getting the feeling of “happiness” from him.
“I will bench you.”
“Try me,” all of them defiantly said at the same time. Gordon smothered a laugh, but by the glare Batman sent him, he wasn’t too successful at hiding it.
Batman visibly gave up, shoulders slumping. “Commissioner Gordon, what do you have for…us.”
“There’s, heh, Penguin’s expansion.” Gordon looked away from Batman’s baleful look, mustache twitching with suppressed laughter.
“He’s expanding his weapons trading.” Regular Robin said. Serious Robin nodded, leaning back on his heels in thought.
“That’s a sign of an upcoming turf war.”
“Red Hood’s part of it! I saw Penguin’s guys lurking around his safe house!”
“Why do you know where his safe house is, Robin?” Gordon might acknowledge that they’re trained vigilantes, but at the end of the day, Robin is still a child that shouldn’t be near a crime lord, especially a highly dangerous and highly trained one like the Red Hood.
“Prank! Don’t worry about it!”
Gordon side-eyed the Bat. When Batman didn’t move to say anything, he shrugged and let it go. There’s only one person more protective of Robin than the rest of Gotham’s non-criminal city, and that’s Batman. Gordon caught the three of them exchanging glances- a whole conversation he and Batman were not privy to- and suddenly felt the overwhelming urge to go home and never leave his bed again.
“You know where he’s staying, Robin?” Batman asked, when the silence got too long.
“Yep!” They chorused, even the serious one. Batman looked like he wanted to step back but held on like his pride was on the line.
“We can handle Penguin.” The serious one stated.
“You can get the goons, Batman!”
“I’ll rob them blind,” regular Robin grinned.
“Dibs on Penguin!”
“I’ll get the weapons.”
Batman sighed.
“Godspeed, Robins.” Gordon told the youngsters. To Batman, before he left, “Good luck.”
Batman grunted and disappeared. It sounded like a tearful thanks. Commissioner Gordon took a puff of his smoking pipe and decided to end the day today. He did not want to deal with the Robins and whatever terror they were about to unleash on Penguin.
——
“Penguuuuuiiiiiiinnnn, where aaaaare youuuu?!” Lionel sang, whacking a goon across the head with a pipe. “Come ooout!”
Archy, gleefully lugging away bags of tech and guns, jerked his head at the left hallway. He wound around the bodies of the unconscious goons Batman beat up. Lionel grinned at him in thanks and, bouncing along, went to beat up the Penguin.
“Robin, that is evidence.” Batman stopped Archy.
“It’s only evidence if it gets logged. Besides, I’m not going to do anything with them… much.”
Batman scowled, remembering the parenting books he devoured after adopting Jason. Be firm.
“You are not going to give them to Hood to help with his turf war.”
“Give me one good reason why.”
Tim, passing the arguing pair, snorted. “C’mon B, at least Hood’s guys will make sure to not use them to hurt kids. Who knows what the GCPD will do with this many guns.”
“And, not to mention, you let me get shot when we fought Dent.” Archy looked up at Batman balefully, rubbing his side. Batman grimaced… but stood aside.
Archy smirked.
“B, help me out with this,” Tim shouted, patting the top of Penguin’s heavy safe. Batman sighed and took out his laser cutter. Or, as Dick named it, Batlaser.
“Batman is supposed to be a symbol,” Batman rumbled.
“Yeah, of vengeance and justice. I’m getting justice for my stolen bat-tech, Robin L is getting vengeance for that one time Penguin kidnapped him, and Robin A is getting… stuff. Now c’mon, I can’t carry all this gold by myself. I gotta loot the goons too!”
“Do not loot the goons.”
“You’re right. If they had cool stuff, they probably wouldn’t be working for Penguin.” Tim brightened as he shuffled through the Penguin’s hoard of treasures. “Oo! Lookit! Tax evasion!”
“… You memorized his tax returns when Oracle hacked it, didn’t you.”
“Obviously. Keep up, old man.” Archy snarked as he walked back in to grab some more stuff. “Hood’s on the way with Nightwing and I want froyo, so chop chop!”
Batman sighed.
——
Penguin huddled against the crate, heart pumping a rhythm of abject terror.
His night had been going so well! He had drinks in one hand, a beauty in another, and the weapons trading game underneath his feet! The Cobblepots were going to rise once more!
Then, the slide of gravel, here and there.
Fear.
A low chuckle. The Bat?
Fear.
The squeal of a hinge.
Fear.
Bubbly laughter. Oh no. Robin.
Batman and Robin had dropped to the floor of the base, knocking his goons out left and right.
“Ge’ your fat nose outta my business, Bats!” He had went to wave his umbrella to send spikes at the pair, only to be stopped cold.
He turned around slowly and … Robin?
“Wha-?”
“Heya, Penguin! Nice seeing you again!”
“Agh!” Blinding pain erupted on his face, nose leaking blood. Penguin stumbled back as the psychotic Robin laughed.
“There’s two Robin! Run!” His goons shouted. “Boss, run!” Cobblepot stumbled away, mentally noting to give that goon a raise, once he could see more than red tinged blurs.
“Wrong. There’s three.” A cold voice sounded out, followed by the quick sounds of bodies dropping. Oswald Cobblepot ran, because he was not meant to deal with more than one Robin. The world was not meant to have more than one, so it definitely wasn’t ready for three.
The door creaked open. Oswald Cobblepot peeked his head out from behind the crate. He heaved a sigh of relief when he saw an empty doorway. Maybe he forgot to close it when he ran in.
“Heya, Oswald!”
Penguin looked up, eyes darting from the blood stained pipe and straight into the grinning maw of a Robin.
“… Bollocks.”

"Meghan and Harry’s $100 Million Netflix Deal Is a Hollywood Miss | Emily Smith Feb 28, 2024
When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s lucrative Spotify deal fell apart in 2023, Bill Simmons, The Ringer’s founder and managing director, was incensed.
“I wish I had been involved in the ‘Meghan and Harry leave Spotify’ negotiation,” Simmons, the head of podcast innovation and monetization at Spotify, which owns The Ringer, said on his self-titled show. “‘The F–king Grifters.’ That’s the podcast we should have launched with them.”
Simmons’ astonishing comments followed the collapse of the Montecito, California-based Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s $20 million deal with Spotify, signed in December of 2020. They delivered just 12 episodes of Markle’s “Archetypes” podcast.
But the Spotify contract paled in comparison to the estimated $100 million Netflix agreed in September 2020 to pay them, a deal which produced a documentary series “Harry & Meghan” two years later — and little else since then.
Aside from the docuseries, the exclusive Netflix deal produced the “Heart of Invictus” in August 2023, which covered Prince Harry’s games for wounded warriors, and “Live to Lead,” about inspiring world leaders and featured interviews with Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Gloria Steinem. That series premiered on Dec. 31, 2022.
Unproduced is an animated series created by Markle titled “Pearl,” which Netflix axed in May 2022 as part of a series of cutbacks. There is little else close to production.
What’s gone wrong? TheWrap spoke to multiple insiders who say the Sussexes have worn out their welcome in Hollywood with an iron-fisted desire for control, combined with a lack of experience. A revolving door of executives have departed the couple’s production company, Archewell, in the past two years while a long list of exhausted agents, producers and other industry veterans have stamped it with a “life’s too short” reputation.
The Sussexes founded Archewell Productions in the name of their four-year-old son, Archie. It includes their nonprofit charitable foundation, plus a for-profit arm focused on media projects.
“Everything with them was fraught and complicated because they wanted complete control,” one Hollywood creative who has worked with them, who declined to be identified, told TheWrap.
Another insider with knowledge of the management of Archewell agreed, saying the couple have proven to be stubborn to the point of alienating others.
“It appears that they just want what they want and won’t take advice,” the insider said.
“Taking on Harry and Meghan was a great coup for Netflix,” public relations and image guru Mark Borkowski told TheWrap. “It probably got a lot of eyeballs and subscriptions, but they [Harry and Markle] never delivered.”
Borkowski added that the clients he works with are closely watching their budgets and costs, but, given the former royals’ lifestyle, “The amount of income this pair has to raise is enormous.”
An insider with knowledge of the Netflix deal with Archewell said it is an “overhead agreement,” meaning not all the money would go to the Sussexes, but it also helps fund their staff, office and development fees.
Archewell and the Sussexes declined to comment for this story.
The former royal couple were initially a hot property. Before signing with Netflix, they also had discussions with Apple, Disney and NBCUniversal, The New York Times first reported. Meghan previously narrated a documentary about elephants for Disney+, and Harry collaborated with Oprah Winfrey on a docuseries about mental health for Apple TV+.
The “Harry & Meghan” docuseries, directed by Liz Garbus, was a legitimate hit, setting a record for the biggest debut for a Netflix documentary with a total 81.6 million hours watched on its first four days of availability, amounting to more than 28 million households watching.
The series was an intimate glimpse inside the Sussexes’ marriage and made headlines for their criticism of the British royal family for failing to support them, including allegations of racism and a narrative that the couple was essentially forced to leave England for the U.S.
But production was apparently difficult. One individual with knowledge of the series said dealing with the former royal couple was a “nightmare” as they were fiercely protective of their story.
“Harry and Meghan made the collaborative process very hard, to the point that there was no collaboration at all,” the insider said.
Other projects have not gotten off the ground.
Netflix and Markle announced “Pearl” with much fanfare in 2021. The animated series — co-executive produced by Markle and David Furnish — was to center on the adventures of a 12-year-old girl who finds inspiration in a variety of influential women throughout history. Netflix canceled it the following year while it was still in the development stage.
There have been reports Netflix bought the romantic Carley Fortune book “Meet Me at the Lake” for $1 million for the pair to produce into a movie. Other plans included a TV drama feminist retelling of Miss Havisham from Charles Dickens’ “Great Expectations” and a documentary about Prince Harry traveling solo in Africa. But these all seem far from getting off the ground.
Another Archewell insider told TheWrap that “Meet Me at the Lake” was “in active development,” but has not yet been cast. And Harry’s trip to Africa has not been scheduled. Some projects will be announced in the next few months, the insider added.
“They have a couple of unscripted things they’re working on,” Netflix’s chief content officer Bela Bajaria said at the “Next on Netflix” event on Feb. 1 of Markle and Harry, including “a movie in development” and “a [scripted] series.”
Bajaria emphasized that these projects were still in “early development,” which raises the question what exactly has been going on between Archewell and Netflix? COVID struck at the start of their deal, Markle went on maternity leave and then the writers’ and actors’ strikes halted production for much of last year. But with all that, it is it is remarkable how little the couple have actually made work for the streamer.
Reps for Netflix, which has also pulled back on its TV and film expenditure during the work stoppages, declined to comment. Harry and Markle do not have guild relationships so any non-U.S. productions would not have been affected.
Markle recently announced she’s joining forces with Lemonada Media — whose tag line is “Making Life Suck 🍋 Less” — for a new podcast, and it will also rerun her “Archetypes” podcast. The company, founded in 2019 by Jessica Cordova Kramer and Stephanie Wittels Wachs, is small and is not expected to be a big pay day for Markle.
The actress is still earning residuals from “Suits,” which recently found an entirely new audience on Netflix.
Archewell turnover: Meanwhile, there has been a dramatic executive turnover at Archewell — particularly those negotiating TV, film and media deals. Mandana Dayani, a human rights activist and business executive, was the president of Archewell from May 2021 to December 2022 and stepped down just days before Harry and Markle’s docuseries aired, with no reason offered.
The company also lost its BAFTA-winning head of content Ben Browning in January 2023 after his contract expired. Browning, who worked on “Harry & Meghan” and the “Archetypes” podcast, returned to his former employer, FilmNation Entertainment as president of production.
Bennett Levine, their production manager, also left in January, as did Rebecca Sananes, Markle and Harry’s head of audio who left to work as a freelance writer and podcast producer after the “Archetypes” podcasts were concluded.
The company has also parted ways with their SVP of scripted television, “Fargo” producer Nishika Kumble, who lasted less than two years in the role.
“Meghan and Harry don’t have a quality team around them,” Borkowski said. “They drive this ship, they are in the wheelhouse. Whether you are the Obamas or Meghan and Harry, you have to defer to people who can really get the job done.
“They just need to sort out a proper production company, they need significant hires,” he added. “People who can actually develop scripts, wrangle talent.”
The Archewell insider insisted the couple has hired talented new executives. Tracy Ryerson was brought in as the new head of scripted content. She formerly worked at the production company behind “Peaky Blinders,” Caryn Mandabach Productions, and starred in a reality show titled “The Real L Word.” Former Disney+ executive Chanel Pysnik joined in 2021 as head of unscripted.
The Sussexes made a surprise appearance at the Jamaica premiere of the Bob Marley biopic “One Love” in late January, sparking speculation about a possible deal with the film’s distributor Paramount Pictures, especially given that they reportedly travelled with the company’s boss Brian Robbins — who is a neighbor in Montecito — via a Paramount private jet.
Yet parent company Paramount Global is strongly rumored to be up for sale, so it is unlikely to be a safe landing pad for the couple.
Last August it was announced that WME signed Markle to be repped by Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel, Brad Slater and Jill Smoller. Archewell is also being repped by the agency, which didn’t comment to TheWrap.
“She is extremely ambitious and knows what she wants,” an industry insider told TheWrap of Markle’s discussions with the talent agency. “But there have been issues with executive turnover inside Archewell.”
In the meantime, The Sussexes need to make money to keep up their California lifestyle and their $14.65 million mansion. The U.K.’s Daily Mail reported that they made around $20 million from their tell-all documentary, while Harry made an estimated $15 million from his memoir “Spare.”
“I think possibly Netflix has dodged a bullet,” Borkowski said. “They know their content, they are data wonks, they know where the interest is. So they’ve got a very good idea or not whether there is a huge amount of excitement around Meghan and Harry.”
The viewing public may not be interested in a romantic movie from the Sussexes, he said. “They create a lot of column inches, but do people want content from them unless it is revealing something extraordinary [about themselves or the British royals]?” he said. “I don’t know how much more they can reveal.”

After Prince Harry and Meghan Markle pulled the plug on their $20 million podcast deal with Spotify this week, Bill Simmons, the streamer’s head of podcast innovation and monetization and CEO of The Ringer, called them “f—ing grifters” on the latest episode of his podcast.
The deal, which was struck in 2020, resulted in only one show, the one-season, Markle-hosted “Archetypes.”
“I wish I had been involved in the ‘Meghan and Harry’ leave Spotify negotiation, the f–ing grifters,” he told guest Joe House on Friday’s episode of “The Bill Simmons Podcast.” “I gotta get drunk one night and tell the story of the Zoom I had with Harry to help him with a podcast idea. It’s one of my best stories. F— the grifters.”
The Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday that Harry and Meghan would not receive the full $20 million from their payout. The two signed a deal with Netflix in 2020 to produce documentaries and series, and released their first show — a docuseries called “Harry & Meghan” — earlier this year.
Simmons, who founded sports and pop culture website The Ringer, sold it to Spotify in 2020 for $250 million. He’s in charge of several Ringer-branded podcasts at the podcast giant.

IGNTR Headcanons
Tumblr media
The IGNTR team are a tight nit family team, despite having a tough exterior. Ray and Gale gets massive headaches trying to make sure their pities and racer don't cause any trouble. Especially Laura and Jackson.
One of the IGNTR’s bosses, Carl Hussell, was determined to have Jackson be the number one racer and beat Lightning McQueen (for both personal and business reasons), that he have Jackson do massive amounts of training.
Only Ray and Gale interact with other teams. The pities and Jackson don’t really interact with the other teams until after the 2017 Piston Cup Championship.
After winning the 2017 Piston Cup Championship, the team celebrated in an arcade that Jackson would go to before he started racing.
Tumblr media
Jackson Storm:
Is Japanese-American, with his mother being American and his father Japanese. Is the youngest in the family with two older siblings.
Use to work in the arcade Ray found him at before entering online racing competitions.
Gotten into physical fights and chases with other arcade players. Sometimes the police would get involve, but they never could catch Storm.
Made friends in the arcade, despite all of them wanting to act like their were just acquaintances. Jackson mentally kicked himself when he realizes that he didn't correct Ray when the truck called his friends "friends."
Jackson - despite having trust issues - values loyalty and trust. It's just gonna take awhile for him to warm up to strangers, even longer if they're the competition.
Lightning McQueen and Cruz Ramirez were the only racers Jackson ever trash talk to during races. He doesn't interact with any of the other racers (both veteran and next-gen) until much later.
Jackson can play dirty, especially when pushed to the edge, but he ain't no cheater. If you're paired up with him, and he finds out you cheated, he's not going to cross that finish line for you.
Tumblr media
Ray Reverham:
Ray was Jeff’s crew chief before the racer retired and became a sports journalist.
Despite being grateful that IGNTR for hiring him and Jackson, he doesn’t always follow what they say and IGNTR can't really fired him because if Ray goes, then Jackson goes.
After leaving Mr. Biggs, Ray was planning to let Jackson get more free time from training, but IGNTR wanted their racer to be the best as fast as possible despite his objections.
Whenever Jackson or any of the pit crew members messes up big time, he'll have them mop the floors of the IGNTR headquarters for weeks.
After Jackson rammed Cruz to the wall. Ray have Jackson not only mop the IGNTR headquarters floors, but took away his gaming privileges for a month.
The more he trained Jackson, the more he noticed that the racer may have mental health issues than he realizes.
Despite not being his crew chief, Ray is happy that Tim Treadless made it to the racing world.
Tumblr media
Gale Beaufort:
The mom of the group who tends to be the one who gives life advice for the team. Even Ray comes to her for advice from time to time.
She the most social of the group and would converse with the other haulers. She even formed a close bond with Mack.
She values her appearance, she just likes being shinny. The team gives her good products to help her fell happy.
One time she wanted to go to a mall and accidentally took Jackson with her. It took Jackson suddenly asking why there were there for Gale to realize she forgot Jackson was still in the trailer. He still teases her about it to this day.
Tumblr media
Laura Spinwell and the pities:
Laura Spinwell is the phone addicted, main mechanic of the pities. She is also highly arrogant about being the smartest one of the team who is rarely wrong about anything.
Knows about 95% of racing history, which benefits Jackson, who needs to keep up the “always been a racing fan” image for the press.
Done massive amounts of research on racing tricks that's been done in history. One racing trick she’s research was the 360 flip, but due to the trick never having documented success, she concluded that it was “scientifically” impossible (Laura never consulted with the IGNTR scientists if this trick was possible) and it was just a myth.
Whenever Jackson messes up, Laura would go up to him and do the “idiot sandwich” bit. Jackson and Laura made a deal that if she was ever wrong about anything, he'll get to call her an idiot sandwich for a month. (Laura Spinwell was called an idiot sandwich for a month after the Florida 500 race.)
Laura would have her fellow pities eavesdrop the other teams, while she focuses on their social media accounts. She needs to know if there’s any rumors, drama, or schemes going on for her team. She’s frustrated that almost none of the new Dinoco members (except for Cruz) have any accounts for her to follow.
They all tend to go behind Jackson, Ray, or Gale for protection whenever they get trouble with the other teams. Mostly Jackson, because he doesn’t really ask questions.

Mental Health Crisis Resources
If you are in a mental health crisis or emergency, you are deeply valued and are not alone.
Please reach out to the crisis services listed below for support. (We do not provide crisis services here.)
Before calling 911: If you or someone you know is in immediate, life-threatening danger and decide to call 911, please be aware that police are not equipped to offer mental health support and may even pose danger to Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, Transgender, Mentally Ill, Neurodivergent, and Disabled People.
Please reach out to community leaders, neighbors, friends, and family to be present if you are calling the police.
See below for crisis warm-lines that do not use police intervention
For community-based alternatives to police in your city:
Visit: Don't Call the Police for resources with transparency about reporting policies
Search for mobile crisis or community response teams in your city.
Calling 211 in some cities will dispatch community response teams instead of law enforcement. Ask in advance whether they dispatch the police if this is a concern.
Ask trusted loved ones for support: In addition to calling crisis services, we warmly encourage you to let your trusted loved ones know that you are struggling. Feel free to share these tips below with them if they're helpful to you:
Ask them to stay with you and to make a plan together. You don't have to face this alone.
If you do not want police or hospital intervention, communicate this clearly.
Ask them to listen and empathize, and not judge, give advice, or center their own feelings.
If you are using substances, alcohol, or self-injury to cope, ask them to stay with you without judgement.
When you are ready for help, ask them to remove it from you.
Remove weapons: If there are weapons such as guns nearby, please lock them away or ask a trusted person to remove them. Your safety is the priority.

looking for advice ^^ (tw lots of trauma/mental health stuff)
bro usually i wouldnt make posts like this but i fr don't know who to turn to other than tumblr right now so if someone could comment or something and tell me what to do that would be great!!
so this feels really awkward, being so open to a bunch of random people, but I've kinda been questioning the possibility of me having ptsd lately??? like I dunno if anything I've gone through would've been bad enough to warrant such a thing but in psychology class we went over ptsd and it was like...huh.......that sounds a bit like me. and I've met a person irl with ptsd and they'd overshare a bit (kinda like what I feel I'm doing now...) and that also kinda felt familiar.
so i go online and research signs, look into random online self assessments (might've been biased though so I'm not about to self-diagnose) and it's like. the signs are there??? they say I'm at risk???
i think i really started questioning it back when someone was acting SO similarly to a person who i associate with manyyyy bad memories from when i was a kid and it kinda felt almost like i was as helpless as i was then and i kept trying to turn to someone, anyone, but i couldn't get help and they were telling me to calm down and it became a full on panic attack
i also consistently have nightmares, not always about the specific events but occasionally they are about them.
should i tell my therapist my concerns so I can maybe get like an official diagnosis and at least start to figure out what's been going on with me?? cuz I told them about the time I had the panic attack with no context and they told me to just breathe next time (I could not breathe I tried so so hard and it just would not work)
aggghhhhh really long post sorry!!! i dont feel i had a childhood as bad as others, my trauma is nothing compared to war veterans, the events themselves were probably just a bit bad but the memories make it feel much worse than I think it really was
tl:dr im trying to decide if i should try and get a ptsd diagnosis

Day 28: Deleterious FFXIV Write 2024
Deleterious: Harmful often subtly or unexpectedly.
CW/TW: PTSD Recovery, Difficult Childhood, Mental Health Discussions.
“I have spent most of my life believing everything is my fault. That somehow I offended the other person, or I had to explain myself to them. Countless friendships, and relationships left in the dust behind me because I believed I was the problem.”
Across the desk, the silver-haired priest gave her a look of sympathy. There were many times lately that he wanted to reach out to her, touch her hand, or even just rise from his seat and hug her, however, it was seen as unprofessional for one and her touch aversion would never allow such things.
“You do know that is not the case, Viviane. Yes, we all have flaws that can contribute to arguments and falling outs with loved ones but we are never the only cause of something that doesn’t work out, as my Mother used to say to us when we were younger it takes two to waltz.”
Bright blue eyes lifted from her hands where they had settled while the Priest spoke to her. He had the most calming of voices, and most of the time she found herself feeling better if she just stopped talking for a while and listened. “I never knew what to think, Father Ashax. I would look for problems that were not there. I would ask questions I did not need to. Even with Clement, I volunteer pieces of Ancient History that have no weight or bearing on how we feel about each other. I fear one day he will just stop loving me and be gone from my life like everyone else has gone from it.” Long fingers played with the lace on the hem of her woolen skirt, it was hard to sit still now, and even harder to breathe. Her chest felt tight, and her heart raced in her ears, and none of this felt good, right, or pleasant.
“But yet you do not react this way with Kovalt. Do you know why that is Baroness? I am rather curious to hear your take on it.” He could see the anxiety rising in her, it was something he saw in his veterans of the Dragonsong all too often, his colleagues often referred to it as a traumatic stress syndrome that came from being in situations that were overwhelming or uncomfortable and that was the polite way of saying it.
“Kovalt and I have known each other longer than Clement and I, even though we never spoke then I could see how he handled life and people in general. He is the sort to stay in touch, even when things have sailed down the river. Clement has been hurt as badly as I have been in my life and thus he closes doors quickly before someone can hurt him.” As she said it she tried to clear her throat, swallow, or do anything that would make it easier to breathe. There were even little shivers that ran along her skin now and she felt like every inch of her body hurt for some unknown reason. For the most part, she simply wanted to shirk into a tiny form of herself that no one else could see.
“It is often quite difficult when two partners are both wrought with concerns from their past Viviane. It is also quite normal, yes you both have fears but look at facts, not the intrusive thoughts. You have been together for nearly two turns, you will be married for one turn in five moons. You make strides slowly, you just have to learn to let go.” leaning back in his chair then, Father Ashax steepled his fingers and lightly tapped them together in alternating patterns. “Trust in him, that is my best advice Viviane, I know that takes a lot, and you have more than enough in your past that makes you feel this way. It is those things that cloud your mind, not him.”
Still, the woman fought for her breath, her stomach was in knots talking about these things, and she wanted to wring her hands with how distraught she felt at the moment. “I do trust him, I trust him and Kovalt more than I have trusted most people in my life, even my Brothers. Neither of them has ever treated me poorly and wrongly. Not like the others of my past who told me what I could or could not do. They have accepted me for me Father, and they smile as I grow and change. I have never been loved the way they love me.” her voice cracked, and her hand shook; finally she just reached for her smoking case to pull forth a cigarette to calm her rattled nerves.
“Your past created for you what is called an anxious style of attaching to others in relationships. You worry that you will not make them happy, that you will not measure up to others that had been in their life, or simply put you believe yourself not good enough. This causes you to look for reassurance and at your worst, you can cause arguments out of your fears. Right now when you think of Clement, can you say you believe he loves you? Truthfully and honestly?” The good Father picked up his teacup and then took a long sip from it, he hated to push her so hard like this but in the long run, it would benefit her to hear herself speak her thoughts, instead of the intrusive voice that often poisoned words.
“Yes” a soft smile appeared on her face “He is not a very emotional man, we share that trait as well. He can be very straight-faced and somber, but there are little things that he does that tell his truths. He is a busy man as I have told you, he takes great pride in his work and he goes to no end to keep learning, growing, and progressing. Those he loves and cherishes, he makes time for them and he doesn’t announce it either. He simply does it. That is how you know Clement cares for you. There are other things. He checks on you, pays little compliments, and reminds you to eat or to get plenty of rest. Truth is Father when he tells you he loves you that does not go away, it doesn’t just stop one day. He is not a fickle man. He will always love you, it is something you can believe in.” She took a drag from her cigarette then, blowing the rings carefully into the air, as she spoke the words had soothed her, the recognition of all of the positive things she had said about her relationship with Clement leaving her relieved.
“The things you have working against you Viviane are a Father who left, a Mother who blamed you for it, and an ex-husband who treated you like property. The other factors, the cult and what happened to you there also figure in here. You prepare yourself for loss, you expect it, and thus you create it for yourself. One of the younger Priests who just took their vows calls it a self-fulfilling prophecy. He was lucky to get a Sharlayan education.” a smile of good humor appeared on his face then, the desire to make a remark in regards to new-fangled education lingering on his tongue, just behind it.
“I think I understand.” the redhead said softly as she leaned forward, snuffing out her cigarette in the glass ashtray on the Priest’s desk and then reaching for her now-cooled tea., her mouth dry from the clove that was in the cigarette among other things that were secretly rolled into the tobacco. “Each one of those events you mentioned stacked on top of each other to create a larger problem until they seamlessly became one problem that I could not take apart.” the maturity in her voice startled her for a moment, then a bright smile appeared on her face.
“My advice is to not look at why a person did this or that. Use what you know Viviane, you can heal all of those wounds by just asking yourself ‘Why did I react this way?’ The priest's fingers moved in air quotes around the words as he said them. “Let others live and be themselves. It will improve things vastly for you in many ways.”

A little bit of a rant, but:
I regret ever opening my requests. I love my readers, but I have to constantly write things that I don't have motivation for for a lot of characters. The largest amount of characters that I have written for in one post is 14, I think?
And you've seen my request list, and you've seen the list of fandoms that I write for. I set the bar too low, and I feel bad constantly. I rarely take breaks, and I currently have 528 requests in my inbox. Some of them are from August of 2022, and I feel like a piece of shit for that.
This is a few pieces of advice from a 'veteran writer', as you have called me: don't go down this road. Enforce your rules strictly, and don't allow anyone to bend them. Have a character limit that is manageable. Your mental health will suffer otherwise, and you will destroy your self-esteem. Haven't seen Motivation since the beginning of my fanfic writing.
Not gonna lie, this got really deep lol. Just looking out for you, after you posting about how writing for the Housewardens was a lot of writing.
thank you for looking out for me, blue! i honestly feel for all the things you mentioned here—i've watched a lot of accounts and blogs burn out from a lot of the issues you mentioned—and it really is hard to keep going once the pressure's gotten to you
for me, writing is a way to take a break from all of the responsibilities i have irl, which is why i really like the freedom i have with this blog lol. i get to write what i want, when i want, and how i want to do it. it's like this one thing i can do without anyone truly forcing me to keep working at it, and i'd like to keep it that way—also a small reason why my own requests have been closed since august but anyway-
the whole writing for the housewardens thing was really just me trying to test my limits with my stamina as it was my idea and not a request (and i think we call can see where they lie now lolol), so i think it kinda helped with establishing my boundaries for this blog and that includes some possible changes to my request rules 💀
since we're already a bit deep here, blue, i just wanted to say that even though you do have an abundant amount of requests, you do not have to do them at all if you're really not up for it. no matter what if you have 1 or 500+ requests, you do not have to do them. they're requests for a reason! you have the freedom to delete or fulfill them in your own hands. they're requests, not responsibilities <3 you also have the freedom to finish them whenever you'd like! tumblr is not run on deadlines; you have the right to relax and to do whatever you want on your own time. it's easier said than done, but i really do think you still have control over your requests. breaks, no matter how long, do wonders as well. just keep doing whatever makes you, yourself, happy. because that's what makes most things worthwhile and i'm sure many of your own readers would agree to this, too
again, thank you sm for looking out for me! it really helped bring me back to the reason why i ever started writing here in the first place. i'm relatively comfortable where i'm at blog-wise, and i'll remember all of the advice you've given me today once i go back to accepting requests (whenever that'll be lmao).

Re: the EddieAna break-up
It wasn't just her crossing boundaries by touching him. It was her making light of mental health issues. Her ableism aside, she shouldn't have been with a veteran and a first responder if that was her attitude. I also agree, that she was never this picture-perfect woman that the writers/fans presented her to be. We barely saw her, but the things we did see, she was not a good person/character and shouldn't have been anywhere near Eddie and Chris. The fact that Eddie ended up dating her after the ableism and her not doing her job of watching of the children in her care still pisses me off!
Oh I absolutely agree. Also, I don't care if they're not your child's teacher anymore, dating someone who WAS your child's teacher or a parent of someone who WAS a student is WEIRD especially when said child is still very young and not far removed from classroom they were in. Like, why? We didn't learn anything about her as a character and if the whole point was supposed to be a woman that SEEMED perfect but Eddie just couldn't connect with, why not introduce some new character? There was literally no reason the lesson Eddie learned out of that mess needed to happen with her specifically, so it was VERY weird to me that they brought her back after s3 showed so clearly how Eddie thought she was pretty but almost immediately found out she was not good for Chris and gave bad advice to him that was then contrasted by Buck giving the right advice. They did the same thing with Buck and Tay Kay. Like, why re-write what we know about Buck and Eddie and their feelings about these women that were previously established only to pretend it never happened?

Introduction The complex nature of PTSD affects millions of lives in profound yet often invisible ways. You might be sitting in a cozy living room with a friend, engaged in a light-hearted conversation, when suddenly, a loud noise outside triggers a visceral response in them; their body tenses, their breath quickens, and their eyes widen as if transported to a different time and place. This scenario might resonate with many who have been touched by post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Although it often goes unnoticed, PTSD can create invisible wounds that profoundly affect daily life and relationships. In this article, we'll explore understanding PTSD: the silent struggle and paths to healing. By providing insights and practical advice, we hope to shed light on this complex condition while offering supportive strategies for those affected and their loved ones. Understanding the Core Issue What is PTSD? Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is a mental health condition triggered by experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event. While commonly associated with military veterans, PTSD can arise from various experiences, including natural disasters, serious accidents, physical or sexual assault, and even the sudden loss of a loved one. Understanding the complexities of PTSD involves recognizing its symptoms and how they manifest. The key symptoms typically fall into four categories: Intrusive Thoughts: Flashbacks or unwanted memories that disrupt the present moment. Avoidance: Steering clear of people, places, or situations that remind one of the trauma. Negative Changes in Mood and Cognition: Feelings of hopelessness, self-blame, and emotional numbness. Arousal Symptoms: Heightened excitement which can manifest as irritability, difficulty sleeping, or being easily startled. Why is it a Silent Struggle? The nature of PTSD often leads individuals to suffer in silence. Those affected may feel misunderstood, ashamed, or worried that their struggles will burden others. This stigma can hinder them from seeking help and support. As one person told me: “I felt like I had to wear a mask. Nobody around me knew what I was going through, and I was exhausted from pretending.” Over the years, the conversation around mental health has gradually evolved, yet many still grapple with the fear of speaking out. Understanding that PTSD is a common reaction to extreme stress is vital—the feelings associated with it are not a sign of weakness, but rather a natural response of the body and mind to protect itself. Practical Tips and Strategies 1. Educate Yourself Understanding the symptoms and effects of PTSD is crucial, both for those suffering and their loved ones. Accessible resources such as books and online content can provide insights into the condition and offer strategies for coping. Websites like the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) and the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA) are excellent starting points. 2. Open Up Communication If you or a loved one is grappling with PTSD, maintaining open lines of communication is essential. Let them know that you are there to listen without judgment. Phrases such as “I’m here for you” or “It’s okay to talk about your feelings” can be powerful. Encourage dialogue about what triggers their symptoms and how they feel in specific situations. 3. Establish a Routine Routine can provide a sense of normalcy amidst the chaos that PTSD can create. Encourage gradual re-engagement with daily activities, hobbies, or even social interactions. Setting small, achievable goals can help establish structure—perhaps starting with a regular walk or committing to a family dinner each week. 4. Explore Therapeutic Options Consider seeking professional help. Therapy is an invaluable tool in the healing process. Various modalities, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), have shown promising results in treating PTSD.
A mental health professional can help tailor a healing path that suits individual needs. 5. Focus on Mindfulness and Relaxation Techniques Incorporating mindfulness, deep breathing, or meditation into daily life can help calm racing thoughts and manage anxiety. Simple exercises, such as focusing on one’s breath for a few minutes, can ground individuals experiencing flashbacks or overwhelming emotions. 6. Encourage Physical Activity Physical activity can be a potent antidote to stress. Whether it’s going for a run, practicing yoga, or simply taking a brisk walk, finding a form of exercise that resonates can significantly aid emotional recovery. Science supports the idea that physical movement releases endorphins, which can enhance mood. Real-Life Examples The Journey of Mark Mark, a military veteran, returned home after two tours filled with traumatic experiences. Initially, he struggled to reintegrate into civilian life. After finding himself frequently flinching at loud noises and isolating himself from friends and family, he decided he needed to confront his struggles. Together with his spouse, they researched PTSD and initiated an open dialogue about his experiences. This was a turning point for Mark, who slowly began attending therapy sessions and engaging in physical activities like running. Sharing this journey served to strengthen their relationship, fostering empathy and understanding. Rachel’s Story On the other hand, Rachel faced PTSD after a serious car accident. She felt ashamed of her fear whenever she had to drive. Instead of withdrawing, she turned to her supportive family for assistance. They accompanied her on short drives, slowly rebuilding her confidence behind the wheel. Rachel emphasizes the role of encouragement from loved ones in her recovery, showing that support systems are vital in navigating the healing process. John and His Support Group John found salvation in a local support group after dealing with PTSD for years. Initially hesitant, he learned from others facing similar challenges. The power of shared experiences helped him realize he wasn’t alone. This supportive community not only validated his feelings but also provided practical tools for managing stress. John advocates being proactive about healing and encourages others to seek out community. Overcoming Challenges Facing Stigmas and Myths Misconceptions about PTSD can hinder people from asking for help. For example, some may think PTSD only affects those who experience combat, while many trauma survivors are silently suffering. Overcoming these challenges starts with education—talking openly about the condition can help dismantle harmful superstitions and promote understanding. Dealing with Triggers Identifying and managing triggers is crucial for those with PTSD. Whether it’s specific sounds, sights, or situations, understanding what sets off symptoms can be empowering. Practicing grounding techniques can help bring the individual back to the present moment, allowing them to regain control during a triggering episode. Navigating Relationships Caring for someone with PTSD can be overwhelming. Establishing healthy boundaries and prioritizing self-care is essential for those in supportive roles. It’s okay to take breaks when needed and to encourage the other person to seek professional help. Finding the balance between giving support and taking care of oneself is challenging but necessary. Conversations about feelings and boundaries can prevent caregiver burnout and ensure a healthier dynamic. Embracing Resilience Acknowledging the ups and downs of healing is essential. Remind yourself that recovery is not linear—there will be good days and tough ones. Celebrating small victories along the way can bolster motivation and illuminate the path toward healing. Conclusion Understanding PTSD: the silent struggle and paths to healing is not about eliminating the pain—it’s about learning to navigate its complexities with empathy and strength. Whether
you are affected or are supporting someone who is, the journey toward healing involves kindness, open communication, and a willingness to seek help. For those struggling, remember the stories of Mark, Rachel, and John; their paths highlight the importance of support and understanding across relationships. While PTSD may pose an immense challenge, healing is entirely possible and often begins with acknowledgment, compassion, and the right tools. Ultimately, know that you are not alone and there is hope. With shared knowledge and supportive relationships, we can illuminate the paths toward healing. Be brave, reach out, and embark on this vital journey together.

The Importance of Hiring VA Disability Claim Lawyers for Successful Appeals
Introduction
Navigating the complex world of Veterans Affairs (VA) disability claims can be a daunting and overwhelming experience. Whether you're applying for disability benefits for the first time or seeking to appeal a decision, having the right legal representation is crucial for achieving a successful outcome. This is where VA disability claim lawyers come into play. With their expertise and understanding of the VA claims process, they can make a significant difference in your journey to secure the benefits you deserve.
What Do VA Disability Claim Lawyers Do?
VA disability claim lawyers are specialized attorneys who focus on helping veterans obtain the disability compensation they are entitled to from the Department of Veterans Affairs. These lawyers are well-versed in the intricacies of VA law, the application process, and the types of evidence required to strengthen your claim.
The role of a VA disability claim lawyer includes:
Providing Legal Advice: Veterans often face confusion when submitting their claims or appealing a denial. VA disability lawyers can guide you through every step of the process, offering advice on the best course of action based on your individual circumstances.
Helping with Evidence: One of the most important aspects of a VA disability claim is presenting the right medical evidence. Lawyers who specialize in VA claims know which documents and medical records are necessary to support your case, ensuring that your claim is as strong as possible.
Representation at Hearings: If your claim is denied, a VA disability claim lawyer can represent you at hearings and appeal proceedings. This is crucial because having a knowledgeable attorney advocating for you in front of a judge or board of veterans can increase your chances of success.
Appeals and Reconsideration: If you’ve already received a decision that you disagree with, an experienced VA appeals attorney can help you navigate the appeals process. They are skilled at identifying flaws or errors in the original decision and can guide you through the complicated steps required to file an appeal or request a reconsideration of your claim.
When to Hire a VA Appeals Attorney
While you can technically file a VA disability claim or appeal without a lawyer, having a VA appeals attorney on your side greatly improves your chances of success. Here are a few situations where hiring an attorney is especially beneficial:
Denied Claims: If your disability claim is denied, the appeals process can be complex and time-consuming. An attorney can help identify why your claim was rejected and assist in gathering new evidence to support your appeal.
Complex Cases: Some claims, such as those involving mental health disorders like PTSD, are more difficult to prove. A skilled VA disability claim lawyer will have experience with these types of cases and know how to present your case effectively.
Lack of Medical Evidence: If you don’t have adequate medical evidence to support your claim, a lawyer can work with healthcare professionals to obtain the necessary documentation. This might include gathering additional medical records, expert testimony, or new evaluations to strengthen your case.
Time Constraints: The VA has specific deadlines for filing claims and appeals. If you’re facing tight timelines or have already missed a deadline, a lawyer can help you navigate these time-sensitive issues and ensure your case stays on track.
Finding the Best VA Disability Lawyers Near Me
If you’re wondering where to find the best VA disability lawyers near me, it’s essential to do your research to ensure that the attorney you choose has the right experience and track record to handle your case. Here are some tips for selecting the best legal representation:
Specialization in VA Law: Look for lawyers who specialize in VA disability claims and have a proven history of successful cases. The VA process is unique, and experience with veterans' law is vital for obtaining the best results.
Reputation and Reviews: Check online reviews, testimonials, and ratings to get a sense of the lawyer’s reputation. Veterans who have worked with them can often provide valuable insights into the lawyer's effectiveness and approach.
Free Consultations: Many VA disability lawyers offer free initial consultations. Take advantage of this to discuss your case, ask questions about their experience, and get a sense of how comfortable you feel working with them.
Personalized Service: Every veteran's case is different. Choose a lawyer who will take the time to understand your individual situation and tailor their approach to your specific needs. Personalized legal service can make a big difference in the outcome of your claim or appeal.
Success Rate: Ask about the lawyer's track record with VA claims and appeals. A lawyer with a high success rate will have the knowledge and strategies to navigate the often-complicated VA system effectively.
The Benefits of Having Legal Representation
While it is possible to file a VA disability claim without a lawyer, the reality is that the process is extremely complicated. The VA is a large bureaucracy, and veterans can often feel like their claims are lost in the shuffle. A skilled VA disability claim lawyer can help you navigate the system efficiently and effectively, ensuring that your case is heard and evaluated fairly.
Moreover, if your claim is denied, having an VA appeals attorney by your side is crucial for a successful appeal. These attorneys are experienced in handling the intricacies of the appeals process and can maximize your chances of securing the benefits you deserve.
Conclusion
The process of applying for and appealing VA disability claims can be overwhelming, but you don’t have to go through it alone. VA disability claim lawyers and VA appeals attorneys play a vital role in helping veterans secure the compensation they are entitled to. By working with a skilled and experienced attorney, you can increase your chances of success and ensure that your claim is handled properly.
When searching for the best VA disability lawyers near me, take the time to find someone with the right experience and a proven track record in veterans' law. Your future and well-being depend on it. With the right legal support, you can have peace of mind knowing that your claim is in good hands

When Should You Hire an Attorney for Veterans Disability?
Navigating the complex world of veterans' disability benefits can be overwhelming. With numerous forms, strict deadlines, and a labyrinthine bureaucracy, it's easy to feel lost. That's where a specialized attorney can make all the difference. But when exactly should you hire a Veterans Disability Attorney? Let's break it down.
Understanding Veterans Disability Benefits
Veterans who suffer from disabilities due to their military service are entitled to compensation. This compensation is a recognition of their sacrifice and a means to help them lead a fulfilling life. However, the disability claim process to secure these benefits is far from straightforward.
The Challenges of Filing a Disability Claim
Before we discuss when to hire an attorney, let's understand why the disability claim process can be so challenging.
Complex Paperwork: The VA requires extensive documentation and evidence to support your claim. Missing a single document can delay your claim significantly.
Stringent Deadlines: There are strict timelines for filing claims and appeals. Missing a deadline can result in the denial of benefits.
Medical Evidence: Providing sufficient medical evidence that connects your disability to your military service is crucial but often difficult to gather.
Legal Rights for Veterans: Understanding your rights and the benefits you are entitled to can be confusing without proper guidance.
When to Hire an Attorney
Initial Application Stage
Many veterans wonder if they should hire an attorney right from the start. While it's possible to file a claim on your own, having a Veterans Disability Attorney can provide several advantages.
Expert Guidance: An attorney can help you understand the type of evidence needed and ensure that your application is complete and accurate.
Increased Approval Chances: Studies indicate that claims filed with the assistance of an attorney have a higher chance of approval.
After a Denial
If your initial application is denied, hiring an attorney becomes even more critical.
Appeals Process: The appeals process is complex and time-consuming. An attorney can help you file an appeal correctly and within the required timeframe.
Gathering Additional Evidence: An experienced attorney knows what additional evidence is needed to strengthen your appeal.
Representation: An attorney can represent you at hearings, advocating for your rights and increasing your chances of a successful appeal.
Complex Cases
For certain types of claims, the expertise of an attorney is indispensable.
PTSD and Mental Health Claims: Proving mental health conditions can be particularly challenging. An attorney can help gather the necessary medical evidence and expert testimony.
Total Disability Based on Individual Unemployability (TDIU): These claims require detailed evidence showing that your disability prevents you from maintaining gainful employment. An attorney can help build a strong case.
Navigating Legal Rights for Veterans
Veterans have specific legal rights when it comes to disability claims, which can be difficult to understand without legal expertise.
Understanding Entitlements: Knowing what benefits you are entitled to and how to claim them is crucial. An attorney can provide clarity and ensure you get the maximum benefits.
Protection Against Wrongful Denial: Sometimes, claims are wrongfully denied due to errors or misunderstandings. An attorney can help identify and rectify these issues.
Benefits of Hiring a Veterans Disability Attorney
Expert Knowledge
Veterans Disability Attorneys specialize in this area of law and have in-depth knowledge of the VA system.
Staying Updated: The laws and regulations surrounding veterans' benefits are constantly changing. An attorney stays updated on these changes to provide the best advice.

Hockey || Exploring the World of Hockey
Playing hockey as a hobby provides an exhilarating and rewarding recreational experience for people of all ages and skill levels. Whether you're a veteran player or a total beginner, diving into hobbyist hockey can offer an exciting mix of physical activity, social interaction, and pure enjoyment. This comprehensive guide will explore the numerous benefits of hockey as a leisure pursuit, offer practical advice on getting started, and highlight how you can integrate into local hockey communities.
1. Why Play Hockey as a Hobby?
Uncovering the Appeal of Recreational Hockey
Envision yourself skating smoothly over the ice, stick in hand, as you expertly chase the puck with unwavering focus. For those with previous experience, hobbyist hockey provides a chance to relive the game's excitement. For newcomers, it offers an engaging, dynamic blend of physical challenge and strategic thinking.
Playing hockey as a hobby lets you experience the sport’s intensity without the pressure of professional competition. It’s a chance to enjoy the game at your own pace and benefit from all it has to offer.
2. Health and Fitness Benefits of Playing Hockey
Physical Health Advantages
Hockey is an exceptional full-body workout that delivers multiple health benefits. Here’s how playing hockey positively impacts your physical health:
Cardiovascular Fitness: The fast-paced nature of hockey provides an excellent cardiovascular workout. Constant movement on the ice, from sprinting to strategic positioning, keeps your heart rate elevated and improves cardiovascular health. This makes hockey a more engaging alternative to traditional cardio exercises like running or cycling.
Strength and Agility: The sport demands both upper and lower body strength. Skating builds leg muscles while stickhandling and shooting enhance upper body strength. Hockey also improves agility and balance, as players need to maneuver quickly and efficiently on the ice.
Hand-Eye Coordination: Handling the puck and executing precise passes and shots require sharp hand-eye coordination. Regular play helps refine these skills, which can be beneficial in other areas of life.
Mental and Emotional Benefits
Playing hockey isn’t just physically rewarding; it also offers significant mental and emotional benefits:
Stress Relief: Engaging in hockey provides a break from daily stress and mental fatigue. The focus required during a game can act as a form of mental escape, allowing you to recharge and refocus.
Cognitive Skills: Hockey requires quick thinking and strategic planning, which can enhance cognitive functions such as problem-solving and decision-making. The need to read the game and make split-second decisions helps sharpen your mental acuity.
Emotional Satisfaction: The emotional highs of hockey—whether from a game-winning goal or successful teamwork—contribute to a sense of fulfillment and joy. The camaraderie developed with teammates adds to the overall emotional rewards of the sport.
