Something something about us being shown Eddie developing his cooking skills before buck - that were shown Eddie being able to cook a full meal (and bake) before were shown Buck doing the same thing. And something something about that foreshadowing Eddie having his full feelings realisation before buck.
Eddie’s cooking skills are on display in 5x11 outside looking in when he cooks dinner for buck Chris and Taylor - and he’s baked cupcakes for desert as well.
But we don’t actually get shown buck cooking a full meal until the 6x01 lasagne. He’s only got as far as breakfast foods when he makes Maddie an omelet in 2x04 stuck but we don’t get shown him actively cooking again until he makes the lasagne.
After that its hit and miss on the cooking and baking front for buck - burnt lasagne in a 7 and I’m assuming his baking isnt that great in 8x07 by the way Chim has one bite and then pushes the loaf away before he masters the ziti, garlic bread etc in 807 and then later the scones in 8x08.
#there’s something about the idea that Eddie has the space and some outside help and got results quickly#that once given some help from Linda he picked up cooking quickly and easily#and he’s good at it - playing on the idea that Eddie doesn’t need to look outside of Chris and Buck and that he’ll figure that out#but buck has been struggling with it - he’s more hit and miss - he starts to get somewhere - finds a recipe that works#the baking being bad but getting better symbolises his recovery from hs failed relationship - he’s getting better#the scone being good and connected to Eddie - and the first lasagne being good and connected to Eddie#is showing us that it’s Eddie that is good for buck - that when it’s connected to Eddie it’s successful#but that buck hasn’t grasped that yet#and that it’s connected to buck - we see Eddie cook only for Chris and for buck (and Taylor but she doesn’t count really)#bucks gonna get there when he figures out he already has the perfect recipes - he just keeps trying to improve on what he already has#and he needs to recognise that and then he will figure out he loves Eddie and what they already have#so yeah the coooking and baking is a metaphor for buck and Eddie’s respective journeys to feelings realisations#I love a good metaphor and especially good ones#buckle up for bucks bumpy road ahead#food and cooking skills as a metaphor for love#Maddie raised buck - that’s why she’s breakfast food#and the scone is actually the only thing of bucks we’ve seen Eddie eat - the last thing - so buck getting the scone right is telling#it’s suggesting bucks baking adventures are over - telling us Eddie is the last - Eddie is the right one#so I don’t think we’ll be seeing buck cooking again until he’s figured out that he’s in love with Eddie#or if we do it will go badly#until he realises he’s in love with Eddie#I love this show so much#911 abc#evan buckley#eddie diaz#buddie

Happy Anniversary to Goin' Places by The Jacksons!
47 years ago, The Jacksons took us on a musical journey with Goin' Places, an album that captured the groove, adeventure, and carefree spirit of the 70s. Packed with funky rhythms, signature harmonies, and unmatched energy, this record remains a milestone that continues to resonate across generations.
From the liberating vibes of "Music's Takin' Over" to the dance floor anthems like "Different Kind of Lady", Goin' Places reminds us that music is a vehicle for escape, exploration, and celebration. Each track transports listeners to new horizons, fueled by the creative force that still makes us move today.
As we celebrate this anniversary, let's pay tribute to an album that, much like The Jackson themselves, keeps taking us on unforgettable journeys and continues to inspire.
A timeless classic and the adventure goes on !

Poll adventure (paventure? lol) Day 4: read the small story tidbit below the poll for more details, OR just vote based on initial impression
(✦ see past poll results + further information HERE (link) ✦)
The winning option of yesterday's poll was that the adventurer should offer the Well Creature some bread and soup ….
"Completely unsure how to even begin to interact with the strange creature from the well, The Adventurer recalls reading in a book once that 'food is a universal language', or uh.. something like that.. thus, some hearty soup and bread would surely bridge any communication barriers... probably. He serves the little cannister of broth cold, straight from his bag just dumped into a wooden bowl, mostly because he's far too nervous to try and start a fire with someone watching.. hopefully they won't mind the food not being warmed..
After gently placing a single bread roll next to the soup, he steps back, gesturing towards the meal with an uncertain smile. The creature pauses, sniffs around, then promptly disappears back into the darkness. Just as The Adventurer begins to sulk over his apparent rejection, something stirs behind him... With a rush of creaking and plopping noises, the creature resurfaces, revealing it's massive serpent-like body as it hoists itself over the crumbled stone of the well's edge with it's many arms. It cracks open it's mighty jaw just far enough for a tiny blue tongue to slither out, then politely slurps at the soup, delicate enough not to spill any.
Stumbling backwards in shock, The Adventurer simply sits there staring the entire time whilst the creature happily (and rather quickly) enjoys their meal... Seemingly appreciative of his kind offerings, another strange slinking arm creeps up from the depths of the well, daintily opening a velvet sack with it's claws and laying out a small assortment of items onto the grass. Still a bit shaken, but also never one to turn down a free gift, The Adventurer senses that the creature intends for him to take any single item of his choosing... but, which one?"
#paventure posting#polls#choose your own adventure#what can I say.. I like the trope of a smaller creature actaully being a much larger scarier creature which you just dont see because the#creature is in a place/position where most of it's body is obscured lol#sometimes a little guy is actually secretly a much bigger guy of mysterious origins that spans the length of an entire#underground cave system obscured by the facade of a simple well#AND MOST important of all.. the cat is scared.. :( bapy...#also I hate writing for these it's so impossible for me to be short and simple with writing. I always want to make it#extremely detailed and 500 paragraphs long. Giving myself a limit of like 3 paragraphs and a time limit of 20 minutes#is actually impossible for my brain gjhbjhbhj#but I have to post it anyway otherwise I'd spend forever on it and never actually get these done but..hhhh#Just know I am going into my evil vampire library to collapse onto the fainting chair in anguish each time after I hit post#Telling a chronically longwinded details obsessive rambler to ''keep it short'' is like telling a cat not to meow. not to run around the#house at 3am. not to be round and perfect. It is simply against nature#ANYWAY. These items might be useful later. As he continues on his journey - he does indeed have an inventory in my mind#like he can lose and aquire things. has a limited amount of money. Can change his outfit or etc. depending on the choices#people make in the polls. These may not have an immediate purpose (though some can) they'll be factored in down the road

JTTW’s writing style is simple yet very effective when it wants to strike a chord
There’s something about it that is timeless truly. That no matter where someone is around the world, they can always relate to that kind of on-the-road storytelling. I think that is what gives it such a great advantage of a monster of the week format, that well, it is repetitive. In some instances, it’s that kind of repetitive nature that allows the characters to really shine through. It's the same monster of the week but it allows for that kind of character deep drive when a movie can just focus on a SINGLE arc and THAT is an entire movie. It gives so much room for exploration of themes and emotions!! There is so much in the novel that most tv shows can't even handle all of it!
It’s so simple yet the emotions that are being felt or still so very real and it kind of blurs that line of despite being a story with the gods and demons it still remains so human and natural about what it means to grow as a person and finding ourselves, and who we are as people. And honestly, those kinds of stories stick around forever, and I think it is real why this narrative has continued for half of millennia. Xiyouji is a grand epic quest sure but it is also full of so many comedic moments that make you laugh and feel like you are on this journey with them. You know they are going to make it to the end but you don't know how or when and it's just one thing after another!
It really can be relatable to any generation and can be so simple in a story but at the same time so complex and meaningful because it is solely character driven. The goal stays the same and honestly the villains change but the format is always clear. It gives it that gradual change where while the plot is the same the characters are the ones to be different every time. And it’s both amazing to see and lovely to analyze every time.
Truly the most human tale in the most absurd adventures...
#anonymous#anon#anon ask#jttw#journey to the west#xiyouji#honestly we love to see how a on the road adventure that never looses it's style#traveling long distances with friends and having misadventures is something that never dies#its the journey not the destination#and it really is#it really really is#ask

Inflicting wounds and blaming others for not fitting your ideal may give you control, but as you distance yourself, you leave behind those who loved you. You maintain a false sense of security because you don't have to change anything. But remember, the farther you go, the more you close the door to turning back." - Tiny Buddha

So a thing I as a disabled person struggle with when writing is figuring out how to include a character like me in the fantasy adventure style stories I enjoy writing. Why would a character with chronic pain willingly put themself in situations like battle where the pain could become worse if they could fulfill a different role that suits their health better? Why would someone with chronic fatigue agree to a long term traveling quest where it's hard to say what sleeping conditions will be like?
#jasper rambles#like. idk maybe its just bc ive read so few stories where a main character of action is disabled#like i feel like disabled characters are always side characters with useful skills to help the main heroes. and never the main heroes themse#lves. and like. i wanna fight! i wanna see someone like me go on the adventures. but also id genuinely be screwed if i ended up in a fantasy#world where i had to learn to fight and be the hero. i can barely function in modern life. days or weeks on the road fighting battles and go#ing thru harrowing journeys? i dont think i could do it
