Lots of things I enjoy about dog daycare but my body slowly deteriorating from standing for five hours isn't one of them and 14 months of walking into a place with the full knowledge that I will be overstimulated in under two hours takes its own toll. Not to mention the whole "two jobs" thing where I'm pulling both jobs three days a week or the usual dozens of tiny things that drive home that employee satisfaction is not a priority (we had two washers, one has been out for eight months and the other in grooming is giving up the ghost but god forbid corporate allow a new washer, dishwasher, fur scraper, squeegee, etc., plus my manager who knows I have scent triggered migraines put up an air freshener in the front of the store because customers were sooooo sad it smelled like dog in a dog daycare).

Anyway. I had a virtual interview Friday with the CEO of a small clinic - she likes to do the interviews so she knows her staff and is involved (funny in light of recent events but I didn't catch it at the time thankfully) - and it went really well and if I get the position I will only have one job for the first time ever while I have lived in Chicago. Well - the first time when I wasn't also desperately scrambling to find another job to make ends meet. My first time having and only needing one job.

There's no real reason given how well it went that I shouldn't get it (they're hiring two or even three people so competition is barely even relevant) but I am still nervous. I used my favorite interview tip I have ever seen - when asked if you have questions for the interviewer, ask if there are any reservations about your qualifications or anything from what you have already said that you can clarify. It either forces them to admit they have a worry, which you can then try and soothe, or they have to tell you to your face that they find you perfectly qualified and good for the position, which was what happened with me.

I go in thursday to see the place and observe what everyone does for a couple of hours. Reception would normally be a big ADHD danger, but I have meds now and it seems there isn't a lot of time with nothing to do, so I think it'll be fine.

I will miss the dogs though. Several will also miss me and won't understand where I went. And that sucks. But this might be the first job I have ever left without extreme duress, so I guess it's easier to think about that kind of thing when I'm not in straight up survival mode trying to get away from somewhere as fast as possible.
