There were so many hilarious and adorable and wonderful small little moments in there, and because I'm me, I'm gonna overanalyze every single one. You're welcome. XD

Okay we're gonna do this in groupings instead of in order of events, and we're gonna break them up with gifs, because this is what happens when I let it play for too long without stopping (maybe I should still be watching this show on Hulu--the ad breaks ensure I do my reactions in a timely manner XD), but it was just SO GOOD, OKAY?!

Lydia and Malia:

Okay for starters, why does Malia have chemistry with LITERALLY EVERYONE?! Like...what? Is that the work of the actress? The director?? The whole cast and crew??? I don't even know, but bruh, I ship her with EVERYONE. Stiles, Kira, and now Lydia (Scalia will come I'm sure--we just haven't gotten a lot of moments with just the two of them yet lol)--I mean, DUDE. Literally when she was leaning over Lydia's shoulder, even though she was hovering, I was watching and I was like "can they kiss?" XD XD

I swear, Malia is secretly in love with everyone in the pack, and I seriously get the feeling that everyone in the pack is just a LITTLE bit in love with her.

ANYWAYS.

I loved those little moments between her and Lydia. The care and affection, but also the clear sass between the two of them was so great, but I also feel so bad for Lydia. Like, I appreciate that, as pushy as Malia is being, she's still trying to be helpful and supportive as much as she can, and the way her face changes when Lydia gets upset about how hard it is for her to control her powers and turn it on and off...it was just really sweet and also kind of heartbreaking and I just appreciate that, given how busy everyone else is, Malia wasn't letting Lydia go through it alone, and was trying her best to be supportive and helpful even with her lack of social skills.

So yeah anyways I also ship Malydia now. XD <3

Scott and Derek and Liam:

OMG stop. All things considered, this scene was literally so sweet and wholesome.

Like, obviously the whole Derek making Liam mad thing was an oof, but it was planned, and everything that came out of it was so sweet.

The way that Scott literally so softly said "Liam" and Liam just, like, immediately calmed down, but never stopped glaring at Derek. And it's so funny, because his glare is so intense, but he's so smol, so it's literally like an angry puppy I can't. XD <3

The way that he said "Get to class, Liam" and Liam just shot that last little glare at Derek and then at Scott (because moody teen), but obliged. Scott is seriously such a parent/big brother to this kid in their Alpha-Beta relationship and I love it so much. <3

The way that Derek just smiled at Scott after Liam walked away with the "You're gonna be good at this" and Scott just looked at him flabbergasted, but couldn't help smiling.

The way that everything about Derek and Scott's interactions in this scene was just so soft, with Scott doubting himself and worrying about all of the problems they have to deal with while he's still trying to be a student, but Derek remaining supportive and helpful and loyal as ever I just...

Ahhhh that scene was so wholesome and adorable in so many ways. I loved it. <3 <3

Sciles and Everyone Else:

Oh come on now. You HAD to know that most of the post was gonna be dedicated to Sciles. When is it not? XD <3

Okay, just Sciles first, when Stiles figures out that the assassin is a lacrosse player.

First of all, we freaking love Stiles, and we love his relationship with Coach. "Stilinski, if I could grade you on how profoundly you disturb me, you'd be an A+ student." "...thanks Coach." XD XD

Second of all, the fact that my boy FIGURED IT OUT! Let's go!! I love you, bud! (Also the way he was just holding the stick and would not let go no matter how many times Coach tugged because he was putting the pieces together we love this man.)

Third of all, and here's the crux of the matter, the way that Scott is watching the whole interaction and IMMEDIATELY turns to Stiles expectantly, because he knows his best friend, and he knows that he's onto something, and they just immediately lock eyes as they process the gravity of what Stiles has discovered like...I just love them and their bond.

And then we move into the scene with Kira (also really random quick aside, the way it transitioned into the scene with Garrett and Violet after this with the "who knows what else they have" and then "wolfsbane" was just freaking awesome anyways).

I just love everything about the banter in this scene, with Scott's insistence that the game should go on so they can catch him in the act (bonus points for Scira with the "I'm not afraid." "Neither am I." and the little smiles they give each other <3) and Stiles's insistence that they should cancel the game and be f*cking terrified, because (I love my boy XD <3), "these are professional killers, it's their profession". XD XD

I just love the back and forth between the two of them, because even when they're disagreeing about the best way to approach something, they're still thinking together and planning together and having each other's backs and acknowledging each other's concerns, and it's what makes them such a good team.

And SPEAKING OF BEING SUCH A GOOD TEAM!

EVERYTHING WITH LIAM I CANNOT I LOVE THESE TWO AND THEIR CHILD! XD <3

The way that Scott is watching Liam so closely as he storms over to Brett.

The way that Scott whispers what, according to the subtitles, is an "oh shit" and then just grabs for Stiles and they both book it.

The way they go with their classic brains and brawn team-up with Scott pulling Liam away and Stiles being the distraction as the charismatic and hilarious little charmer that he is.

The way that Scott and Stiles just drag Liam to the locker room (Stiles's little "go" after they turn away from Brett and crew XD) and shove him against the shower together repeatedly until he finally calms down.

The way that Scott is the softer, chiller, concerned, supportive "you're not in trouble, just tell us what happened" parent while Stiles is the harder, harsher, annoyed, disciplining "I will ground you regardless" parent during this whole conversation, and their facial expressions match that perfectly.

The way that Stiles is still bantering with Scott and is unafraid to express his exasperation with this “I cannot believe what you got us into" at this whole situation while Scott is just metaphorically rolling his eyes with this "I'm working on it and you're not helping".

The way that Stiles backs off to let Scott make the final judgement call, but also nods his approval at said judgement call.

The way that Scott softens up even more at the "especially if you're there" and Stiles runs a hand down his face because he knows that means they're probably gonna let him play.

The way that Liam is already willing to out his friend, no preamble required, because he already trusts Sciles's judgement and analyses, and if his friend's a threat, he wants them to know.

The way that these three just have the best bonding and best dynamic I just...

July 19th, 2001 Michigan Adoption Center

The Yukimura's sat quietly in the waiting room, waiting for someone to come up and tell them that they could finally choose someone to adopt. Noshiko Yukimura and her daughter, Kira Yukimura were sitting in a chair, a young 5 year old Kira sitting quietly in her mothers lap with her toy. Kira's father, Ken Yukimura, was standing next to the front desk.

They were waiting to be called so they could see the kids, and chose one to come home with them. The two Yukimura adults have been wanting to adopt for quite some time, and Kira was ecstatic to have a sibling, whether they were younger or older. Noshiko was no longer allowed to have children, due to some medical problems when having Kira. The Yukimura family felt like something was missing, and Noshiko had the bright idea of adopting, and Kira squealed in delight at that, clueless about adoption but brightened up when it meant she could have a sibling.

When they were called in they started looking around, looking at different kids and Kira interacted with most of them, but they still couldn't seem to find the right one. No one felt right. Finally afterwards they were lead to the back by one of the assistants, which is where they saw a shy, frail girl.

They noticed that when Kira went to say hi to her, she didn't speak, she only waved...and that was something that intrigued the Yukimura's.

"That's Y/n, she's four and she is mute. She doesn't really like being around others, they always pick on her. She usually sticks to herself, but she really enjoys listening to music, and she likes to read and paint." the assistant said, talking to the two Yukimura parents, while Kira was talking to Y/n.

"If it's not too personal, why is she mute?" Noshiko asked.

"About 6 months ago, she got in a really bad car crash. She wasn't injured that much, but she does have a few scars. That's when she unfortunately ended up losing her parents, and she had 2 older brothers but they were never found, and were declared missing." The assistant told them, looking at Y/n with slightly pity.

"Oh God." Noshiko said in Japanese, covering her mouth, while Ken held a shocked face.

"I know...it's terrible, and Y/n has refused to speak ever since, and now she is mute. She is also still learning sign language, but hopefully over the years she will get very good at it."

Noshiko and Ken shared a look. "Mind if we try and talk to her?" Noshiko asked.

"Of course, you are always allowed to speak to any of the children, go right ahead."

Noshiko and Ken made their way over to where Y/n and Kira are. Kira was happily blabbering away, while Y/n was listening with an adorable smile on her face. Noshiko knelt down to Y/n's level, with a soft smile on her face.

"Hey there, I was told your name is Y/n, mine is Noshiko, and this is my husband Ken, along with our daughter Kira."

Y/n looked at her, her head tilting in curiosity, while she held a blank expression on her face. Noshiko looked around and noticed that there was a painting behind Y/n. It was a beautiful moon, with a wolf howling. It had many different colors, with shading and dark purples, blues, and pinks. It was quite impressive for a four year old.

"Is this yours?" Ken asked, while Noshiko observed the painting, and Kira's mouth widened in shock. Y/n nodded, with a bright smile on her face, as she got up and walked over to the painting, happy to show someone her painting.

"That is so cool!" Kira said, walking over to the painting.

"It is very beautiful, Y/n." Noshiko said.

Right when the family of 3 was about to say something, the assistant came back.

"Sorry to bother you, but your time is up, it's time to make your decision." the assistant said.

Noshiko and Ken held hands, while Kira trailed behind them, but she was waving to Y/n and Y/n waved back. They were taken back up to the front office, where the front desk lady and the assistant were waiting.

"Have you decided on which child you would like to take home?" the front desk lady asked.

Noshiko and Ken looked at each other, while Kira was tugging on both of their pant legs, saying Y/n's name, it seemed like Kira had already become quite fond of Y/n already.

"We'll be taking the lovely Y/n, please." Ken said, Kira jumping up and down in happiness.

"That sounds great, we will go get her stuff, and all you have to do is sign some legal documents, and ASL lesson plans, then you can take her back to your house. There might be some CPS officers at your door in a couple months, but that's only to check and see how Y/n is doing with you guys." The assistant gave Noshiko and Ken some papers.

Y/n was back painting in the back of the playroom when one of the assistants came up to her, telling her she should get her stuff together, and that she was being adopted. As Y/n was packing up, along with the help from some others, the smile never left her face, she had an idea who was adopting her, and she had no problem with that at all.

Y/n walked down the stairs while an assistant was carrying her bags behind her. Y/n didn't pack much, just all her favorite books, all her painting supplies, all of her favorite paintings, clothes, and other necessities. When she walked down the stairs she saw the Yukimura family waiting for her, and Kira came up and hugged her.

"You get to be my new sissy now!" Kira said happily, smiling while clinging to Y/n. Y/n smiled and hugged back, she was ready to go home with the Yukimura's. Part of her was scared, because back in her mind she didn't know what it was going to be like without her birth family, but she knew they were up in Heaven, hopefully happy.

The Yukimura's took her back to their motel, they informed Y/n that they were only staying in Michigan for a little while, because they were only there because they were looking for adoption centers, and that their real home was back in Japan. Kira had been talking to Y/n the whole time, telling her about their home in Japan, and about all the cool places there. Y/n sat there and listened, her eyes seeking interest in Kira's words, as she would also stare outside the window from time to time. Y/n's eyes would wander to the steering wheel every once in a while, but her mind had blocked out the night of the incident. Her own subconscious was simply trying to protect her.

Noshiko and Ken were simply smiling, knowing that this was a great decision they just made.

Maybe it's because my first tumblr fandom was Supernatural but I am, like, primed to dig into why and how all these parents went wrong. None of the TW parents on are on John Winchester level, of course, but it's very wild that so many people are convinced that the sheriff is an amazing dad.

Like, where is the evidence? Threatening to beat up kids who beat up Stiles is not necessarily an indication of good parenting!!

i don't think anyone can ever achieve john winchester levels of bad parenting. was john emulating chuck or was chuck emulating john?

teen wolf is full of neglectful parents, dead parents and broken families.

this is by plot necessity because no involved parent is going to miss their kid sneaking out at all hours and getting up to life threatening hijinks.

the entire plot of the show happens because stiles was left alone listening to the police scanner and like the morbid punk ass nosy ass kid he is wanted to go see a dead body and dragged his equally left alone best friend along for the ride.

melissa and the sheriff love their kids but they're hardly there. rafael is an absent parent. claudia is dead.

isaac mother and older brother are deceased. his father is abusive than dead.

erica and boyd's families aren't even given a cursory mention.

lydia's mother is still there but she's not very involved and when she is she isn't all that understanding. her father disappears from the show entirely even when the plot involves his mother. it's implied lydia spent a lot of time with her grandmother lorraine who is deceased.

evelyn tate is dead. henry tate is apparently there, alive and super uninvolved with malia because malia does whatever the fuck she wants when she wants. she sleeps at the stilinski's frequently and this isn't an issue???? her biological parents are a pair of unhinged people one of whom actively tries to kill her more than once.

liam's step-father was introduced but we don't see him again and we never learn anything about his mother.

the argents are fucking insane. chris and victoria spent years lying their asses off to allison. victoria kills herself over being a werewolf. chris is a hot/cold parent on the best of days.

ken yukimura and noshiko are there but boy there's a lot to unpack there. ken is great and adores kira but he gets put in the backseat a lot. noskiko and kira are going to have many, many lifetimes to deal with their issues.

even though the whittermores' did the objectively correct action in removing jackson from beacon hills i do wonder if they did get him therapy because it's an entire plot point jackson has unresolved issues from being adopted and feels like he has no real identity.

the hales have unfortunate implications everywhere.

teen wolf kids are all shades of maladjusted and fucked up. they're all toys on misfit island looking for belonging.

This is basically a love letter to all my favorite characters. Which is uh, well you'll see. 🥰🥰

So many thoughts behind the cut!

Category One: VERY FAVORITE

It's what it says on the tin. My very favorite characters. Spoiler alert: I am Bad At Favorites.

Lydia Martin I fell in love with her the instant she was good at bowling. Perfect even. And then the "sucking for his pleasure line," and then, and THEN we get her arc in s2? She's alone, and a little brittle and I have so many theories I've rambled about a million times regarding her childhood and how her powers have manifested before. I could write an entire tumblr post just about Lydia and my thoughts. I love her so much.

Malia Tate

I knew I was going to ADORE her the instant she punched Stiles for turning her back to human. I'm only sad we didn't get to see her initial reunion with Scott. I do firmly believe she throws Scott around in bed while they're together. I love how "yeah i don't really care about your social norms" she is about everything. And how she learns!! And then how much she loves Kylie. She leaves the safety of her den to get Kylie's doll back!!! I love her.

Scott McCall

I liked him at first. I definitely enjoyed seeing him hurt. I always gravitate to the prettiest men with blood on their face in any given fandom. And in Teen Wolf, that is definitely Scott. And then by about my third rewatch I was even more in love with his character, his willpower, persistence, stubbornness, empathy, and leadership. Many of you know Fury is my favorite episode and I love Scott in it so much. I love him.

Mason Hewitt

I was in love with Mason IMMEDIATELY. He was just so clearly such a good friend to Liam. And his smile. And then he helps Scott at the bonfire with no questions asked. And then he helps Lydia. That boy with ZERO spn powers helps Lydia charge berserkers. And then he is so excited for Liam to be a werewolf. And in the inner circle. And then he's the Beast! And he's with Corey! And he helps in s6. I love Mason. Love, love, love. <3

Kira Yukimura

Literal ray of sunshine. Awkward, nerdy, new girl! bad ass, katana-wielding kitsune. I was in love with her from the first interaction with her dad. And then she has fun with Scott at the sheriff's station! And then she learns what Scott is and is the first person to be tender and gentle about it? Ahhh. And then she has angst and the way were *robbed* of a s6 Kira arc. Still mad. Forever mad. But I ADORE Kira so much. She's amazing and I love her.

Vernon Boyd

Loved him when he wouldn't let Stiles pull one over on him with the money. Loved him when he wanted to be like Scott. Loved him when cared sooo much about Erica. Love the angst with Alicia and hate how little we get. He went and worked at an ice rink!!! I just. He's caring and kind and compassionate and observant and quiet and I love him for it.

Melissa McCall

!! The way she is trying so hard. And the way the world is just conspiring against her. She clearly loves Scott so much. I loved their s1 and s2 scenes sooo much. I really wish we'd gotten more of those little intimate mother/son moments later in the series. But I also love how she's still human. Is just trying her best. She's amazing.

Satomi Ito

I love her. She's a badass. And friends with Deaton. And I love how she interacts with Noshiko. And she has so much anger but she does eventually learn one way of expressing it. And Iove that she cares so much for her pack. Love love love love so much love. I watch all of like four Satomi parts soo closely every time.

Ken Yukimura

"Here's all that research you did for that boy you like." What is not to love, though? He's a history nerd! Married to a 900-year-old kitsune! And he loves his daughter so much. He's a good cook! He's so cool. Maybe Ken is what I want to be when I grow up. Even if I am technically older.

Alan Deaton

!! He's so great. While I can see an argument for him withholding information in the first two seasons- I feel like it makes total sense why he does. For so long, this supernatural part of his life has been on the back burner. Since the Hale fire, which he couldn't stop, and then suddenly it's back.

And by s2 he's actively helping Scott figure things out. He's teaching him and Isaac to take pain. Something it never dawned on Peter or Derek they'd like to know. In s3 he saves Stiles, in s6 he faces the fear of the anuk-ite with more grace than anyone. I love. Love always.

Noshiko Yukimura

I adore her so much. I loved younger Noshiko and I love how she's clearly matured since those events. She's also sooo hot. And so badass. And has STELLAR taste in men. So much love for Noshiko forever. <3

Braeden

She shows up on a motorcycle, rescues Isaac, almost dies, FACES DOWN A PACK OF ALPHAS and survives it! And all while looking So Good. I love how she deals with Scott and Derek. I love that she worked for Deucalion after he slashed her throat open.

(quick note if you are tired of me talking about how much i love these characters, this is not the post for you, it doesn't change much)

Erica Reyes

Complete stubborn af BADASS of my dreams. I loved her when she was epileptic and still trying to climb up that rope. I loved her when she showed up and slammed Scott into a locker. I adored her when she hit on Allison. I love how she was so fierce and protective of Boyd and how she terrified Derek. I love her.

Hayden Romero

The way she looks at Liam in her intro. She is going to *destroy* this boy, that she has a crush on, so hard. She's also stubborn and strong-willed, and responsible. She's working so hard to help her sister, who she loves with her entire heart. She's great, and I love her.

Danny Mahealani

Everyone loves Danny! As they should. <3 He has terrible taste in men (relatable tho), and he loves to look disrespectfully (also relatable). I love his interaction with Stiles and Derek in s1 as well as his friendship with Jackson. I love that he's the one doing research on the ley lines! I hate how he disappears after 3b. I wanted more with knowledgable about supernatural Danny.

Meredith Walker

Meredith can leave Eichen any time she wants. She does. She generally stays there: to protect everyone else from herself. Meredith is what Lydia looks like when we don't see her perspective and I think about that soo much. I also love her and Lydia's interaction: "Not all monsters do monstrous things." My heart.

Category Two: VERY FAVORITE ALSO but fandom tries to ruin them for me

I love these characters so much, but the way fandom tries to make them into shells of their actual selves. Or just make everything about them always. There are so many great characters in this fandom!! It's an ensemble show with fantastic characters and actors!! So to be clear: I love the canon versions of these characters.

Stiles Stilinski

I fucking love this dude. He's sarcastic and rough around the edges, and awkward. His fingers are impossibly long. He's just the right side of morally gray. And terrified he's going to fall too far the other direction. He's a little broken inside from the way his mother died and is codependent with Scott. Love love love him.

Peter Hale

-Would fall right after Araya in the villain category

I love him. He is ruthless. Selfish. Tits out. He's funny. I love how he's so obsessed with Scott. He spends a whole season working with Kate because of it. Kate who he kills in s1. Iconic villainy. Tbh, he's one of the villains I wish they'd leaned away from the redemption arc on. But I still like his commitment to family (in his mind). And the bravery it takes to step through that fire in s6 knowing exactly how it feels is damn impressive.

Derek Hale

He's super hot. Like all kinds of hot. Broody. He's such a mess that first season especially. His entire family was lost, he's been gone six years. He comes back and his sister dies first thing. Why he's a broody mess makes sense. And then, for a change, he can save his family! He saves Cora. It sucks to be at the expense of Erica and Boyd. But I feel like he makes his peace with things as best he can.

Young Derek Hale

Is just Derek only younger, really usnure why they are separate tbh.

Of all the villains, he has the most convincing redemption arc. Possibly because he's just around more on-screen tbh. And he loses so much. By the end of the series Chris has lost everything. And he's such a mess about it. Also he's so stupidly hot.

Noah Stilinski

I love him. He's another single parent trying his best. He clearly cares deeply about Stiles, even though he's often out of his depth. I love the bit where he's watching the kids just run Rafael in circles in 3b. The look on his face is so clearly: "it's about time you had to deal with their nonsense."

Jackson Whittemore

He's such an asshole, and I adore him for it. He's so mean. He's terrible for Lydia (and her for him) but I love that they end up friends. I love Jackson's relationship with Allison especially, and it haunts me who had to call him and explain what happened to her. I love his s2 arc because a "be careful what you wish for" arc always gets me.

Claudia Stilinski

Only because we just know so little about her. I enjoy my fanon interpretations, but that's all they are.

Very Favorite Villain Edition

Quite likely to be a controversial category. And my absolute favorite. I love OTT villains and does Teen Wolf provide me so well <3

Deucalion

I mean. If you're here. Chances are really high you have some idea how I feel about everyone's favorite British Drama Queen of a Demon Wolf. He calls himself Destroyer of Worlds. Alpha of Alphas. He's a hot fucking mess too. His corruption arc implies less megalomania, and yet.... and his redemption arc is... shaky, but I'm into that. He's not all that redeemed, and the look of pure glee on his face when he's about to beat Scott in 6b supports that. I love how obsessed he is with Scott, too. It's this delusional obsession and gyahh, I am here for it. He does help Scott in 5b, but I contend he did it for a price. <3

Kate

I stan a hot, evil woman always. You will uh, see that theme repeated on this list. And she's pretty unapologetically evil. Though you have to wonder ofc, how much Gerard shaped that. And she does have that little redemption saving Allison in s1. And really does clearly care for her. She's fun! And hot! And creepy and I am here for it.

Violet

Speaking of really hot, evil women. Hello! And she's reckless too? My heart can't even take that kind of thing. And she strangles Scott. The fact that we never got nagaul! Violet is criminal. To me. Personally.

Araya Calavera

Evil Mexican grandma shoots a person. In the street. In broad daylight. If that isn't badass af, I don't know what is. I also really love her interactions with Chris. She's fabulous.

Tamora Monroe

Once again pointing out the hot, evil woman theme. Though I think she's more nuanced than some of the others. She's one of the villains who deserved a redemption arc the most. She's also such a good leader and organizer. She's a good counselor and listener. Love her.

Jennifer Blake

Hot. Evil. Women. It's a whole thing okay. And while I will admit to being one HELL of a Deucalion stan, Jennifer deserved the redemption arc so much more. Her reasons for evil are far more valid. She wants to destroy the people who destroyed her and who wreak devastation in their wake. And get revenge on her ex. Valid of her.

Kali

Speaking of said ex. And hot. And evil. I wish we'd gotten more Kali. I think she feels more remorse than she wants to admit. I love, love, love the way she interacts with Deucalion. I accept "Deuc" from her only. And probably him too.

Ennis

He isn't on here, I'm more neutral on him. But because we get next to nothing about him. Very sad. I bet he's fun. Kali joins the alpha pack for him. Gotta be a reason.

Victoria Argent

Are you prepared to hear me go on about hot, evil women again? AND she bakes cookies. I love when she calls Stiles "the odd one". And she so clearly cares about Chris and Allison. It's utterly devastating when Allison blows her off right before her death. Love.

Void/The Nogitsune

He's just hungry. I love the potential of the nogitsune. And the angst it brings to Noshiko and Stiles especially. I am v excited to see where the movie takes this. But really, he's just hungry. That's not evil. As a favorite bounty hunter once said: "A girl's gotta eat."

Corinne

I think half the reason I fell in love with the show was all the hot, evil women. Jeff may be a gay man but he and I clearly have the same taste in women. I wish we knew more about Corinne to be honest, but I love her relationship with Braeden and am forever wondering about her relationships with Talia and Peter.

Matt Daehler

If he were a woman, he'd be higher. As it is, he's a creepy stalker dude and a lot of fun. I like when he shoots Scott, uh, a lot. I think there is definitely so much more room for exploring his relationship with Jackson. And he was a kid. That deserved redemption every bit as much as anyone else. Maybe more. He was a kid. His death is tragic af.

Gerard Argent

Evil manipulative cockroach. He's fun and serves his purpose.

She's so great! I love her dark arc. I love her struggle to figure out who she is and her friendships with Lydia and Scott and Isaac and Stiles. I love how she tried so many hobbies and her conflict with her family, internal and external. I hate/love her death. I love her.

Isaac Lahey

He's so tall. And sarcastic. And he's not witty, and he's just a little mean. I love how he still wants to trust people, even after everything he goes through with his dad and then Derek. I love his relationships with Allison, Scott and Chris and Erica and Boyd. A lot like Chris, Isaac loses soo much.

Marin Morell

She's so interesting! I want to know about her life pre-canon so BAD. I feel like it's implied that she's Deucalion's emissary pre-corruption. Why does she stay? How does she feel about it? Why was she with him in the first place? How have her hands gotten dirty before? I have so many questions and theories, but I'd love to know more.

Cora Hale

!! She's a badass. She's basically girl-Derek, so what's not to love there? Broody, broken, angry. I love her back and forth with Lydia and Stiles so much.

Coach Bobby Finstock

What's not to love? This man is the living incarnation of Hot Chaotic Mess and I know I'm always in for a good time.

Mrs. Finch

What is her first name? I love her though her storyline vexes me. I know that it's probably just retconning, but the way I like to consider explanations for *why* she's head in the sand about being an alpha werewolf. Oh! I wonder if I will see parallels to that attitude in movie!Scott. Ohh. I'm gonna have Feelings. I love that she believes in Scott in AP Bio, when even some of his friends do not. I think about her fear a lot when Liam is beaten in science class. She knows he'll heal, ofc, but I think about her a lot for a minor character.

Brett and Lori Talbot

Beloved Satomi pack frens. Brett is a tall drink of water and Mason has rights. Like man. That eight-pack. And Lori is a bad ass. And she tries to help Kira. I enjoy them a lot!

Sydney

She wants to do well on her test. She's sick and still needs to take it! She gives Scott the picture of him, Lydia, Stiles and Malia. My heartttt. She's great and I love her. I have a lot of thoughts about her being friends with Brett and Lori.

Jordan Parrish

He's a cinnamon roll but on fire. Instant love. Plus he's half-naked A LOT, and I'm not mad about it.

Natalie Martin

She's trying in her way. I really think in her mind, Natalie is doing whatever she needs to do to prevent Lydia from becoming Lorraine. She wants to do the right thing, but isn't so good at seeing what that is.

Tracy Stewart

She's a badass. Hot and almost evil. And she has a tail. Only wins here.

Aiden and Ethan Steiner

They're fun. I like Ethan slightly better. Aiden is a subby straight boy though, and that's hard not to love.

Currently? Riverdale, A Song of Ice and Fire, and The Vampire Diaries/The Originals. That doesn't mean everything else is out of the question, just not what's on my radar at the moment.

4. What are your top five fics by kudos?

buried hopes sprout anew (Harry Potter) a.k.a. the trans!Al fic I wrote back in 2017 kind of on a whim that appears to continue to resonate, kudos: 308

city lights on the water (One Day at a Time) was written for an exchange but really enjoyed writing it (possibly yuletide, I don't quite remember), kudos: 155

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

Usually yes. I’m sometimes slow and bhsa and my somewhat related other fic solace get the most comments of all my fic and some of the comments are very similar to previous comments so I’m not responding to every single one anymore. But I do love comments and I do try my best to respond to them.

6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I uh…haven’t finished a non-one shot fic in my life, unfortunately, so uhhh I guess there are two possible alternatives to this question. The first is what fic has the angstiest ending based solely on what I’ve posted to-date and the answer to that would be someone to look after you. The second is what fic will have the angstiest ending by the time it’s finished and the answer to that is obviously subject to change but will most likely be Deepwater.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I mean, see above but let’s see, the fic with happiest ending based solely on what I’ve posted to-date is you’re my christmas and the fic that will have the happiest ending by the time it’s finished, obviously subject to change, is How to Survive the Annual Downton Christmas Party.

8. Do you get hate on your fic?

No, not really. One time someone posted a kind of hate comment on city lights where they told me that Syd and Elena should have had sex in the fic. It mostly made me laugh because it’s such a weird comment to leave. Also, Syd’s sister was literally right there?

9. Do you write smut?

I have written some, yes. I haven’t posted any yet though. Two different steps for me! 😅

10. Do you write crossovers?

Nope! I’m not really big on crossovers, actually, since I get a lot of hangups on differing world workings.

I did have a fusion fic I was working on for a friend at one point back in time. (For me, fusion usually means characters from fandom a and characters from fandom b in a neutral setting or a setting from a third fandom.) It was a Clary Fray/Kira Yukimura pairing set at Hogwarts.

Not that I’m aware of.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic?

No but I’m not opposed.

14. What‘s your all-time favorite ship?

Oh, that’s a difficult one. It kind of depends on what type of genre I’m fixating on and I also write a lot of oc x canon fic, especially going back the past five years, and usually that’s because I’m not really satisfied with the ship options for the canon character (not always, sometimes just because it’s fun to play in the sandbox but definitely a lot). I would say Sybil x Tom from Downton Abbey have been pretty long-lasting for me and also I adore Buffy x Tara from BTVS.

15. What’s the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

All of them? 😅😭

16. What’s your writing strengths?

I wish I knew! 

No, okay, I think what I am good at is foreshadowing. My absolute favorite fic comment of all time is a commenter who said that they only noticed a detail on second reading but it hit them really hard. Like, they reread my work and they noticed that poignant detail? Dream reader and commenter!

Related, I think I’m good at writing things from a pov that might not notice the significance or meaning of something but it’s clear enough that a reader will catch it if they’re not skimming or speedreading. 

17. What’s your writing weaknesses?

I think what I need to work on is a descriptions, as in I could probably fill a page with words and words describing a scene but I need to learn how to use less is more to paint a vivid picture and draw the reader’s eye to an important detail or two.

Dialogue is also very hit or miss for me. Sometimes I think of dialogue while doing other stuff/out of the middle of nowhere and that I usually think is good. What I’m a lot less good at is writing dialogue when I’m writing a scene and it reaches the dialogue portion which I haven’t gotten to in my head/imagining yet.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

This is a super open-ended question. Uh, I would say there are many possible ways to do this. So far, it hasn’t been something I’ve had to wrestle with but I know going forward that I will have to. I think it depends on how much text the dialogue is? Beyond a few sentences, I think it becomes kind of cumbersome to have text in a language distinct from the text of the overall piece. (I’m definitely biased because I don’t care if the language is untranslated if I personally can understand it. 😅) I think it also makes a difference if the language is supposed to be understood by the characters/pov character as well.

I guess I’m not saying don’t do it but do think about what the reader will be thinking.

Pretty sure it was HP on my old, old fanfiction.net account.

20. Favorite fic you’ve ever written?

I think my favorite fic that I’ve written so far is Stardust. I wrote it for a friend as a part of a little informal exchange and it was really great to get in the head of a character who I like but don’t think about very much and who is quite different from the kinds of characters I usually like. I think I was able to write a really strong characterful piece that doesn’t contradict anything established by canon in the character’s backstory as well as make it a contained, thoughtful fic.

Chapter #2

Summary:

The boy nods and shyly smiles. “C-Can my daddy go with me?” 

Stiles nods immediately. “Absolutely, Cub. This course is designed for our cubs and their parents. Don’t worry. It’s okay to be a little nervous but I know your daddy will be right up there with you and I’ll be right down here.” 

The boy nods and watches as the instructor harnesses his dad. “S’cuse me Mr. Stiles?” 

Stiles kneels down again. “What’s wrong, Cub?” 

The boy’s voice gets super soft. “My daddy gets a little scared up high too. Can he be a cub too so he’s safe a-and if either of us gets scared you’ll come help?” 

Stiles melts and smiles softly. “I promise.

Stiles Stilinski is an instructor at a zip line adventure park called Howlin' Heights, located in Shenandoah National Park in Virginia. He’s in his sixth season as an instructor. He graduated high school at the age of sixteen and started college right after. He graduated from Seline Elite University eight years ago and then began to build his company. He has a degree in Business Administration and a degree in nursing. He spent a couple years in college as an EMT. Then two years after graduating, at the age of twenty-two he opened Howlin' Heights. 

Erica was his first hire, and with her came Boyd who is their maintenance guy. Next came Jackson, Theo and Isaac who all were friends of his from college whom Stiles kept in contact with. Lastly came Allison and Kira to round out their little group. Now at twenty-eight years old he has six years of success under his belt and a family he gets to see every day, that he calls Pack.

The crew gathers in the cabin as the guests arrive and Erica gets them checked in. Stiles heads over to the whiteboard. “Okay pack listen up please?” 

They all gather around and nod their acknowledgement. 

“Okay today we have Kira starting on the Howling Course. She’ll take the first shift down there. Jackson you’re starting down the hill on courses five and six. Theo? You’re on Lunar Landing. Are you ready for that?” he asks.

Theo nods with a smirk. “Absolutely, Alpha. I’ve been looking forward to it.”

Stiles nods and turns to Allison and Isaac. “Ally, you'll take the safety brief for the second group today and then we’ll rotate with Allison bumping Kira, Kira heading down to relieve Jackson and Jackson heading inside. Isaac, you have the safety brief for the third group today and then we'll have the rotation again with Isaac bumping Allison, Allison heading down to relieve Kira and Kira heading inside.”

“What about you, Alpha?” Allison asks, her hip cocked to the side.

Stiles huffs. “I was getting there.” He hangs up the schedule and the rotation. “I will be doing the safety brief for the first group today. I think Erica said we have a couple for the Cub Course in that group. So, I’ll do the briefs for both. I can always pull one of you over to the Cub Course if we get anymore for that one.” 

He looks at the crew who all are vibrating with excitement. This is one of the reasons why he loves his job. Seeing everyone excited to do their job warms his heart. “All right pack. Let’s have a howling good time!”

They all break and Stiles heads into the office connected to the cabin. “Hey, Catwoman. How’s it going so far?”

Erica grins as she attaches bracelets to their first group. “All good so far Alpha. I have two more I’m waiting on for your group. If you want to head out and start harnessing, I’ll send the last two down when they’re ready.”

“Sounds good.” He slips on his gloves, clips his water bottle onto his harness and heads out with ten adult harnesses. He takes his place at the start, waits while people start to gather around, and offers them a smile.

“Welcome to Howlin’ Heights. My name is Stiles, and I will be your instructor today. Now, how many of you have howled with us before?” He watches as a few people raise their hands. “All right. Well, welcome back.”

The group of returnees claps excitedly and Stiles chuckles in response. “For those of you who are new, we also welcome you. It is our goal to make sure that you all have the best time possible while you’re here. Before we head down, we need to get you all harnessed up.” 

He holds up one of the harnesses, the other nine resting on his shoulder before hanging them on the hooks.

Everyone in the group has their eyes on him as he continues. “So, the most important thing is that you never adjust your harnesses yourself. If at any point your harness feels loose, you need to let an instructor know and we will help you with it. I’m going to go around and get you each harnessed.” He begins harnessing all the guests. 

As he finishes with the last one, he takes a step back. “All right. Now your harness should be secure. Did everyone get their harness adjusted by me?” Everyone nods and Stiles grins. “Perfect. Now on your waist you will find a red pouch that has a whistle in it. This is only for emergencies. There will be instructors on the ground that you can call out to if you need something but if it’s serious, if it's an emergency, then use the whistle. Everyone, make sure you have a whistle for me please?” He waits while they check and then nods. “Good. I see everyone has wristbands and you all have gloves?” 

Everyone in the group raises up their gloved hands. 

“Wonderful! Now that we have that out of the way we’re going to head to our practice course. If you’ll follow me, we’ll make our way down now.”

Stiles leads the group down and pulls out his radio. “Stiles to Cabin.”

“Go for Cabin.”

“I have finished harnessing and am heading down to the practice course.”

“Heard, Alpha. Your last two should be there with you now.”

Stiles glances at his group and notices a man with a boy on his shoulders. “I have eyes on them. Thanks, Catwoman.”

“My pleasure Batman. Have fun.”

They all reach the practice course and Stiles gestures for them to spread out so they can all see him clearly. Once they do, he begins. “So, like I said earlier, my name is Stiles and I’ll be your instructor today. In order to make sure we all have the most amount of fun possible, we need to go over some rules. So, turn up your ears, give me your eyes and silence those voices. We’ll leave the howling for when you get to the ziplines. Here we go!”

Stiles starts off by explaining their equipment. He demonstrates the trolley that an instructor will put on the cables for the various courses as well as the carabiner that they will be responsible for making sure to attach. “It is important for your safety that you always make sure you have two points of attachment at all times. When you do have to unclip your carabiner, do so but then clip it back on before taking a step.”

“Excuse me?”

Stiles glances over and smiles. “What’s up?”

“Where does the carabiner clip to?” the teenager asks.

“Good question! You see this heavy duty silver cable here?” 

The girl nods. 

“Good. That’s where you will clip it. It is the main line and the cable you must always reattach to.” Once she nods her understanding he continues. “Now an instructor has to attach you to the course. You cannot under any circumstances attach yourself to the course. This is to ensure that you get attached correctly. Now that you know how to get attached to the system, here’s how we do the zipline.”

As Stiles is giving the safety speech for the zipline, he notices the man who has moved the small boy from his shoulders to his hip. Their wristbands indicate the Cub Course, while the rest of their group have wristbands indicating the adult course also known as the Howling Course. 

“All right. Let’s see if you were paying attention. Show me by demonstrating what you just learned here on our practice course. If I can see you've understood the information, I'll send you to the first course.”

One by one the people in the group get on the practice course and only two of them have to go again before Stiles deems them ready and sends them down to course one. “Stiles to Cabin.”

“Go for Cabin.”

“I’ve got my first group heading down to course one. The practice course is raked and I’m taking two guests to our Cub Course.”

“Heard Alpha,” Erica says back.

“I’m here to let them in Alpha,” Kira replies over the radio.

“Sounds good, Kit.”

He turns to face the man and his son. “Hey guys! If you follow me, we will head to the course.”

With a nod from the man and a wiggle of excitement from the boy, they make their way down the hill towards the station with the cub harnesses and trolleys.

“So, as you both heard I’m Stiles and I’ll be your instructor. I’m going to tell you some very important things.” He kneels down to help the child into a harness. He smiles at him encouragingly. “Never hesitate to ask me any questions. Okay, Cub?”

Stiles smiles and offers his hand to the dad. “Derek? Nice to meet you. I hear you’re going to be a cub today too?”

Derek’s cheeks heat up, but he nods despite holding his son’s hand tighter. “Yes?” 

It’s obvious to Stiles that this wonderful—this beautiful—man is going through this despite his fear because his son wants to. 

“Okay. So, your course is a little different. You only have to worry about your trolley. Just like the big course, only an instructor can connect you to the course.” He steps up to the small practice course and attaches his trolley. “So, when you’re on the course you can hold onto the rope of the cable but don’t hold onto the trolley. We don’t want any pinched fingers,” he explains wiggling his own fingers, oblivious to the way Derek’s eyes darken at the sight.

“What about the zipline, Mr. Stiles?”

Derek and Zeke nod, though one looks slightly pale while the other is eager to get on the course.

Stiles has them complete the practice course first and smiles at how thorough the kid is, making sure to do everything exactly right. 

As he walks them to the gate, out of the corner of his eye, he notices Derek staring at his arms and has to laugh a bit to himself. Erica always teases him about people drooling over his hands.

Once Stiles gets them up safely on the course for loop one, or Lupine One, he radios in. “Stiles to Cabin.” 

Erica replies back. “Go for Cabin.” 

Stiles smiles. “Hey, Catwoman. Any chance someone loves me enough to keep me at the Cub Course by taking my rotation in the Howling Course?” He glances up watching the son instructing his dad and he can’t help but melt at it.

“Daddy it’s okay. See? I put my foot right there in the middle and it didn’t shake at all. You can do it!” 

“Okay, I can do this.”

“Yeah, you can, Daddy!” Zeke cheers.

They both get to the platform and Derek lets out a heavy sigh of relief. “Wow.”

“Come on, Daddy. This is just the first obstacle and Mr. Stiles says no howling until the zipline.”

Derek looks down to where Stiles is, his cheeks pinking when he realizes Stiles is watching them. He quickly looks back at his son. “Well, we definitely have to howl. So, we better get to the zipline quickly then.”

“I wish we had a moon out, Daddy. Then it would be perfect,” Zeke says as he starts on the next obstacle. “Cause wolves howl at the moon.”

After a couple more deep breaths, Derek starts on the next obstacle, glad he didn’t try to eat before this, well at least not a full meal.

“Do you think they have a glow in the dark night?” his son asks as he reaches the other platform and looks back.

“I don’t think so kiddo. That wouldn’t be safe. We just have to pretend we have a moon. You can be a wolf without the moon.”

“You can?! I wanna be a wolf. Come on, Daddy! Only four more obstacles and then we can howl!” he says grinning ear to ear.

Derek swallows. “Yeah. Only four more.”
