ADOPTION. It is one of the most beautiful actions that we have the privilege of participating in. Adoptions give a family a child and a child a home. It is exciting and rewarding, to say the least.
Legally, Adoption is a process whereby a person assumes the parenting of another, usually a child, from that person's biological or legal parent or parents. Legal adoptions permanently transfer all rights and responsibilities, along with filiation, from the biological parent or parents.
There are different types of adoption - parental placement, agency placement, and international adoption, to name a few. There is also the consideration to be given to "closed" adoption or "open" adoption (open adoption permits the biological parent to remain a part of the adoptee's life). There are even cases of adult adoption.
