this birth family reunion is everything i've ever wanted and yet i still feel so unfulfilled

my chest is still sore and aching but for different reasons, it's not going to go away

it still doesn't feel like it has happened - like i dreamt the whole thing up, but i didn't. maybe it's compartmentalising, maybe i need to talk about it more, or maybe being entirely in control of a situation for the first time is disorientating.

it feels like a lot.

a lot of people you tell expect you to be delighted and that everything is fine and that all of your issues go away once you've had your family reunion, you got what you wanted, you should be happy and fine now. it's not exactly the same as before, but it's similar, it's different, it's not the same, how can anything be the same again?

nothing is ever going to be the same again - i've just achieved one of my major lifetime goals, one of my biggest wishes, and it feels like everything and nothing has changed - still disorientating.

i'm riding the wave but the wave keeps getting bigger and smaller and I can't follow it. i hope it compartmentalises itself soon.

Pokemon Crossbreeds: Whimpering

Whimpering is the name for members of the Yamper line whose fathers are members of the Sobble line. The breed got its name because the Yamper become more emotional and skiddish, making them whimper a lot more. The breed isn't very common due to their biological indifferences, but many people love this breed because they find the Yamper cute and the Boltund useful. Despite being pure electric types, the breed does well in water and are very good swimmers.

Yamper

Whimpering Yamper gain more "droopy" features. Their ears become pointed downwards, their tail becomes more curved, and their eyes are usually sad and wet. They gain the cheek marks of Sobble, and their white underbelly shortens to their chest, just like Sobble's. They also gain a little extra fur in their head that resembles the scales of Sobble.

Like stated before, the breed whimpers a lot, which can be a bit much for beginning trainers. They also tend to be more needy and clingy. You know those videos of those dogmons whining after their trainer stops petting them for 2.5 seconds? That's pretty much Whimpering Yamper. They can be a bit harder to train for battling due to their skiddish nature, but they're still just as strong as purebred Yamper!

Boltund

My personal favorite of this breed, mostly because I think it's yellow eyes are pretty.

Whimpering Boltund (yes, I know the name doesn't fit, but for simplicity, breeders keep the same breed name if it's in the same evo line) gain the traits of Inteleon, such as the longer tail and patterns. The frill on Inteleon's head becomes fur for Boltund, which trails down its back like Inteleon's does.

The breed is known for being cunning and very precise and accurate with its attacks, making them a popular battle breed. They are smart and are able to learn and use tools, ad well as having an eye for when something is wrong, which also makes them popular service dog breeds.

like i think it would be Very Cool and Fun if moonshadow elves had enhanced vision for seeing through illusions/spells and subsequently could always see dark magic corruption on someone's face, because the purifying ritual always concerns consuming sunray butterflies and so it doesn't even work on them

Is Zaphira (sorry if I spelled her name wrong) an elf or do humans have pointed ears in your universe? If no elves, how do the pointed ears happen? Are there different length of ears and if so do they mean somethin?

Zaphira is human, there are no elves, as such, in this world, though humans tend to live longer than IRL and have differently shaped ears-

the shapes are rather diverse (example above) and culturally (so far) they have no significance, they are merely a trait just like different nose shapes or fantasy hair colors

the worldbuilding reason is that these are extremely diluted demonic influences- in the past demons were frequently in the human world, though largely in secret/disguised, and long time exposure to demonic presences can have varying effects, the most immediate and common being a longer life or wounds healing faster than normal; there might have been other long time effects but the only trait that stayed even after their disappearance is the ear shapes

(there was a mass extinction event of demons that wiped out all above a certain age, since demons generally dont die of natural causes their life neither depends nor revolves around reproduction so there were extremely few left and those were too young to keep most of their knowledge and culture alive, as they rarely wrote anything down; Shargon is of the current oldest generation and witnessed it happen, just like most now adult demons, Thor and Eadrya are both a bit older than him and thus the oldest living demons, which doesnt mean much considering the technically endless lifespans of them)

and to explain me including Shargon in a human appearance- hes the only demon that spends as much time in the human world as at home, largely to escape the others since they are not interested in going there and would otherwise attack him any chance they get (the human world is rather uncomfortable for demons to be in and they have better things to do than to chase him that far), while hes generally very weak compared to them, something he is very good at is shape shifting, mainly the speed of which, being able to shift between full demon and the smaller more humanoid form extremely quickly, or even mid forms that are a mix of both - even in motion! while for the others it takes them quite a bit and forces them to stop which is the main reason he keeps escaping them not able to keep up with his rapid shape shifting (though it does take its toll .. also a reason hes so skinny)

he is the first (only?) one that at some point will learn how to shift into a much more human looking one (depicted in the sketch) too, but its rather dangerous since it involves supressing and compressing his demon heart and system... which is what keeps demons alive (its somewhat like holding your breath for way too long) so the only time he would make use of it is in extreme situations, like avoiding detection by maschines that can pick up demonic energy or escaping shackles made of celestial silver (which drains their energy and can scar/hurt them permanently, like silver to vampires(?werewolfs?) in a way)

....the point is that if he shifts into a human form he has very long ears, meaning that is basically the extreme form that doesnt occur in humans and hints at the origins for those ear shapes being demonic exposure in the past

i feel like people forget that lee chaolan’s ethnicity is CHINESE. i know that in all of the games he speaks japanese and occasionally english, but just because you only hear two languages in-game doesn’t mean he abandoned his background

maybe just maybe lee interacts with chinese characters and speaks mandarin offscreen

I was using Bing Copilot, asking it stuff like "what do you call someone who is both wasian and blasian at the same time", then made it more clear with "what do you call someone who has white, asian and black heritage at the same time", but then I got curious - how would a transracial* person like myself even navigate places that feel like they weren't meant for me, places where people are connected to their culture and heritage and don't feel like an impostor wherever they try to fit in?

Just curious, where would you recommend starting genealogy research? I’m mostly curious more than anything, thought I don’t think having Native American lineage is likely for me?

Start by talking to your family and writing down as much info as you can. Names of grandparents, great grandparents, aunts, uncles, whatever you can. Birth dates and places they lived as well.

I do genealogy thru ancestry.com and it's mostly great but I know some people have problems with it. You can get a 2 week free trial and you might be able to get plenty of your tree filled out in that time.

Then, just put in what info you got from your parents, and look for census records. US Census records from 1950 and earlier are public, so start there. I was able to go back to my gg grandfather just thru censuses, and then I was able to find his Dawes card. I have gone back further but the farther back it goes the less reliable anything is. Be wary of anything on ancestry or other sites where the only source is someone else's tree, because people can put whatever they want down and a lot of it is wrong. [For example, on other parts of my tree it's tried to connect me to pocahontas 3 times.]

Ofc this advice doesn't just apply for those looking for native ancestry, it's just general genealogy stuff and it's really interesting for anyone to learn about their ancestors (:
