hi, i'm a fat person who is just starting to learn to love and appreciate my body and i'm very new to the fat community and all that.
i was wondering if you could maybe explain the term ob*se and how it is a slur. i've never heard anything about it being a slur before(like i said, i'm very new here) and was wondering if you could tell me the origin and history of the word or mayy provide links to resources about it? i want to know more about fat history and how to support my community but i'm unsure of how to start
Welcome!
Obesity is recognized as a slur by fat communities because it's a stigmatizing term that medicalizes fat bodies, typically in the absence of disease. Aside from the word literally translating to "having eaten oneself fat" in latin, obesity (as a medical diagnosis) straight up doesn't actually exist. The only measure that we have to diagnose people with obesity is the BMI, which has been widely proven to be an ineffective measure of health.
The BMI was created in the 1800s by a statistician named Adolphe Quetelet, who did NOT sudy medicine, to gather statistics of the average height and weight of ONLY white, european, upper-middle class men to assist the government in allocating resources. It was never intended as a measure of individual body fat, build, or health.
Quetelet is also credited with founding the field of anthropometry, including the racist pseudoscience of phrenology. Quetelet’s l’homme moyen would be used as a measurement of fitness to parent, and as a scientific justification for eugenics.
Studies have observed that about 30% of so-called "normal weight" people are "unhealthy" whereas about 50% of so-called "overweight" people are “healthy”. Thus, using the BMI as an indicator of health results in the misclassification of some 75 million people in the United States alone. "Healthy" lifestyle habits are associated with a significant decrease in mortality regardless of baseline body mass index.
While epidemiologists use BMI to calculate national "obesity" rates, the distinctions can be arbitrary. In 1998, the National Institutes of Health lowered the overweight threshold from 27.8 to 25—branding roughly 29 million Americans as "overweight" overnight—to match international guidelines. Articles about the "obesity epidemic" often use this pseudo-statistic to create a false fear mongering rate at which the United States is becoming fatter. Critics have also noted that those guidelines were drafted in part by the International Obesity Task Force, whose two principal funders were companies making weight loss drugs. Interesting!!!
So... how can you diagnose a person with a disease (and sell them medications) solely based upon an outdated measure that was never meant to indicate health in the first place? Especially when "obesity” has no proven causative role in the onset of any chronic condition?
There is a reason as to why fatness was declared a disease by the NIH in 1998, and some of it had to do with acknowledging fatness as something that is NOT just about a lack of willpower - but that's a very complicated post for another time. You can learn more about it in the two part series of Maintenance Phase titled The Body Mass Index and The Obesity Epidemic.
Aside from being overtly incorrect as a medical tool, the BMI is used to deny certain medical treatments and gender-affirming care, as well insurance coverage. Employers still often offer bonuses to workers who lower their BMI. Although science recognizes the BMI as deeply flawed, it's going to be tough to get rid of. It has been a long standing and effective tool for the oppression of fat people and the profit of the weight loss industry.

B’s-LOG June 2021 - Shuuen no Virche Special Feature Translation [Illustrator Comments]
Tumblr media
Comments from the illustrator, Yomi, on the boys' designs.
Yves
I received a request for an “orthodox knight”, so I was careful not to lose his sense of knightliness not only in his main outfit, but also in his alternate outfits.  His image changed several times along the way as I was drawing, but I think he always had the appearance of a young man with a smile that looks like he’s on the verge of crying.
Lucas
I designed him with the template image of how Japanese people imagine beautiful Western Europeans (platinum blonde hair, blue eyes, etc.).  At first, his outfit was baggy and didn’t show off his body line. But in the final draft, it ended up fitting him perfectly. How strange. I tried to make his hair hide his eyebrows to make it harder to read his expressions and make him feel less human. But he’s definitely a contender for possessing the most masculine eyebrows.
Mathis
I kind of had an idea of how he should look when I sketched him out on the very first piece of copy paper. But as I reviewed the setting several times and began to draw it out digitally, I thought, "somehow, this doesn't feel like Mathis.” So I flipped the table over, handed over most of Mathis’s initial draft from the neck down to Yves, and I reworked it from scratch to create the current Mathis.
Scien
He seems like someone who’s hard to approach due to his position and setting. But I didn’t want him to be invulnerable. I wanted him to have openings. So I made his clothes disorderly in various spots. I decided to place the crest on his neck on a whim, but the more I got to know him, the more I felt like “unbeknownst to himself, he was constantly being strangled by his own creation.” And I thought his neck was the perfect place after all... (this is just my personal opinion).
Adolphe
I had a vague image of a "man who lets sunlight pass through him.” I don't really understand it myself, but I often think that way when our eyes meet while I'm doing my colouring work. I aimed for his appearance to be the most manly together with Hugo, a mutual friend of Yves’s, but what do you think…?
Ankou
I hope I was able to create the feeling of someone who can be seen but not touched even if you reach out to them. Someone who is frightening but also captivating. When I received the proposal, I was contemplating a pure white costume, like an elf king’s. However, it turned out the complete opposite in the end.

I have informed my son that this is the format my obituary should follow.
I hope folks will laugh when my passing comes because laughing is better than crying.
Here is just a small taste:
"Robert Adolph Boehm, in accordance with his lifelong dedication to his own personal brand of decorum, muttered his last unintelligible and likely unnecessary curse on October 6, 2024, shortly before tripping backward over "some stupid bleeping thing" and hitting his head on the floor."

Lolita" as a facet read of the rise of fascism
Title may not make sense. Don't care.
Anyway, was drawn into a discussion about "Lolita" on Facebook, when an old quote from TERF wizard surfaced. In this interview, she referred to "Lolita" as a love story.
Proud of what I wrote there, so copy-pasta:
"Lolita" IS a book with superlative literary merit. It has some of the most beautiful and elegant prose of any prose work in the Western literary canon.
Nabokov made a deliberate choice to write Humbert as articulate, verbally suave, persuasive, and downright charming *because the entire point is that people can justify anything to themselves and will attempt to justify their most unconscionable actions with obfuscation. Intelligent and/or sophisticated people are incredibly good at this obfuscation, to the point that they can charm you into agreeing with their truly monstrous actions.*
If you fall for Humbert Humbert, you will fall for a Bill Cosby. You will fall for a Jim Jones. You will fall for an Adolph Hitler. If rhetoric can persuade you that the blatantly evil and monstrous ISN'T actually bad, then you are normal, but weak.
The criticism IS that a major frailty of the human condition is allowing ourselves and others to tell us lies about our own moral rightness so we can sleep.
On a separate comment, assuring another person that Nabokov was NOT a pedo apologist:
"Lolita" is not an easy read, because the point is not that pedophilia is good - the subtext leaking around Humbert's interpretations of events are VERY clear on that point - it is because Humbert is so elegant and persuasive that an unaware reader will actually start to buy in to his logic.
The cautionary tale is inherently "Be careful who you listen to, no matter how persuasive or charming their rhetoric is. They can get you to agree to the greatest depravity if you are not careful."
The existence of "Lolita" porn and every single film ever made of the story shows that a lot of men in particular do not get the point, while a lot of women do not read it, because they assume it is yet another apologia for the sexualization of girl children.
Nabokov himself insisted that the cover NEVER sexualize Lo. His own instructions on the cover were "NO GIRLS!!!!"
He referred to her as his "poor little girl" and made it clear that 'Lolita' is Humbert's fantasy of the sexually tempting nymphet, while 'Lo', the actual little girl, is already a survivor of sexual molestation who takes the path of least resistance when her stepfather causes her mother's death and kidnaps her. Lo IS inappropriately sexual with adults, but as Humbert discovers the first time he rapes her, it is because someone else beat him to be the first to take sexual advantage of this child.
Edifying for anyone who has not worked with children - a common sign of child sexual abuse is a child who is inappropriately sexual, especially with adults. A person trained in spotting potential flags of an abused child will notice that Lo has a whole 4th of July worth of flags from the moment she appears on the page.
Though "Lolita" as one book on a list of books that people constantly misinterpret so that they can pretend the book supports their thoughts and actions would be fascinating. "1984" is the other one that leaps to mind.
So, how does that circle back to fascism?
We are not quite there yet.
First, I took a bong out to the back porch and listened to "The Books and Movie Guy" about the lack of stories that take place inside the rise of fascism. We, meaning English-speaking audiences, tend to prefer our WWII narrative: fascism is here, it is very clearly bad, and we few, we noble few, we band of brothers are here to ride for ruin and the world's ending. Now the evil fascist leader is dead and we are all covered in ticker tape and champagne and various bodily fluids, hurrah. And suddenly, No One was fascist *ANYMORE*. Enjoy your civilization, you fascist... well, not anymore ~uwu~ ... dragons.
That point is true.
My God, is it true.
It is really hard for us to see "It Can Happen Here" as a narrative, because such a huge part of the American psyche is wrapped up in the narrative of us as THE ELECT. The religious terrorists who formed our first real systems of laws had a religion that was based deeply in the reading of signs and symbols to determine if you were to be allowed into eternal paradise or condemned to eternal suffering. Eventually, it became too complicated to figure out what was and what was not a revelation from God as to whether you personally were one of THE ELECT. Instead, we got to the much simpler idea that if you were born into the community that had the TRUE WORD OF GOD, if you didn't leave, you were probably pretty solid. After all, if God didn't want you personally in heaven, why would he bother having you be born to the only group of people that were joining him in eternity?
This is a vast oversimplification, but gives a general idea as to how America the Divinely Inspired really took root over here.
Every country that has fallen to fascism, therefore, did so because they lacked some of the unique wonderful specialness inherent to Americans, who never, ever do anything bad ever. Especially not politically, my dear doctor.
Thesis established, whys supported, the next step in the conclusion for me was recommending the "Clone Wars" TV series. It takes the lackluster "We are fighting a war and there's like incremental stuff building up over time and something is bad and fascism now!?" that the prequel films deliver as stand alones, and fills in all the things that lead to the decline of republicanism and democracy and the rise of fascism. The allowing of institutions to grow hidebound and rules-lawyery. The impatience with a system that needs to consider all possible angles when there is an EXTANT EMERGENCY RIGHT NOW AND PEOPLE ARE FUCKING DYING WHILE YOU WINDBAGS ARE BLOVIATING. People feeling disenfranchised, silenced, shoved aside.
Filoni makes it work on an extra step, because the audience also gets to watch the decline of Anakin Skywalker into Darth Vader. How does a well-meaning kid, awkward, dorky, but sweet and kind-hearted (established way better in the show than the movie) get to the point where he is willing to slaughter children with his own hands - to murder his own pregnant wife in the support of a fascist regime who could not give less of a fuck about him personally.
THAT is where the disparity connects in my lovely ADHD brain.
If "Lolita" is fundamentally a novel about the use of rhetoric to allow oneself to excuse any depravity, then can it not also be read as cautionary to the rise of fascism?
Obviously, sexual violence against children does not need to get metaphorical. People who brutalize kids aren't thinking of their actions as symbolic of greater problems writ large, nor are the fascists and other planet rapers thinking of more intimate forms of violence as reflective of their own goals. Putting that out there.
But reading in this train of thought opens another line of thought into the insight of propaganda efforts in supporting demagoguery. The violence of fascism is the inherent violence of control. All control forcibly taken is traumatic violence and violation.
The mental gymnastics and linguistic cul-de-sacs Humbert Humbert deals in are all the forms of rhetoric of a classic fascist leader. She is so much stronger. She needs his protection because she is so much weaker. She must have enjoyed it, because he enjoyed it. It has to be solipsistic, because he has to believe he is justified in his actions - if Dolores is a real person - if she is Lo, not his idea of Lolita - then he has done an evil thing.
If we learned anything from Nuremberg, it is that people's minds will go through the most extraordinary pericombobulations to arrive at the idea that one's own actions are always justifiable, and therefore, if not always, at least mostly correct.
Does it really reflect a much broader trend, to read the point of view of a selfish, vain, deluded man using his own opinion of his own innate superiority as having interesting parallels to the rise of fascism?
I think I'll leave that up to Twitter.

I know that Alayne's mother is still not confirmed but if her mother is Viserra(I hope so!) I can imagine Viserra visiting her mother in her deathbed as a ghost and be like:
"You shall be remembered as a good queen but as a bad mother as well..." *she chuckles* "If I were still alive, I would protect my dear Alayne from your claws and the king's, my sweet daughter suffering from a marriage with a man old enough to be her grandsire..or worse by being the wife of that thing(Daemon lol)" Viserra's tone changes into one of disgust.
"Are you here to remind me of my failures?" Alysanne is in tears, bitterness in her tone; Viserra keeps her signature smile and adds casually:" I'm here to remind your hypocrisy as well dear mother...and" Viserra's tone is as cold as ice and Alysanne felt her anxiety rise
"I'd like to say that my dear daughter will marry a second time...to a great man and have three children," Viserra says with a grin, eyes full of fondness and relief" and that my granddaughter will be queen" Alysanne's stomach drops, she looks pale
"You don't look happy mother...are you afraid that her poor husband will suffer from my granddaughter's ambitions and machinations?" Viserra's tone changes again then she points a finger at her and Alysanne recoils.
"You married Father because you didn't want to marry an old man and when I have done the same, you have shunned me for it, marrying me to an old man, and you have done the same to Alayne...and you have asked yourself why my sweet granddaughter has never written me a single letter"
"Why Vaegon is writing me with such coldness...why Saera doesn't come back...why my children are dying, wasn't Daella and Alyssa or mine's death proof enough"
I love this. I personally like the idea that in her life, Viserra does revere her mother (saw her as a safe haven compared to her father), and it sort of eats her up that nothing she does seems right. The Aegon and Alicent of it all actually. She thought her mother would be proud of her for having ambitions to be queen. But her “love” is not the right kind. Viserra could never compete - could never do right. Alysanne gets lauded about how she was as queen, but she was no ruler in her own home because Jaehaerys would not let her be one. Her own trauma would not let her be one. Mothers cannot save their daughters from the same fate…
She should haunt Jaehaerys nasty ass while she’s at it. I actually like the idea him seeing Saera (like in the book he calls a young Alicent her) and viserra. Honestly even if I don’t make Alayne’s mom viserra, I’m getting hella tempted to tap into that whole family dynamic somehow. Jaehaerys, post losing alysanne, loser who hates women, being haunted by each woman he’s done wrong would be a slay. Hmmm
Also fuck it here’s a web weave about Viserra and her parents.

The originator of BMI, Adolphe Quetelet, was under the impression that the "average" was ideal and individual people were aberrations from that - and also, that the farther from the "ideal" body a person was, the more likely they were to be a criminal or degenerate.
His index was created as a tool of social engineering, not health care.
He created the notion of the "average man" and declared that anything outside of it was a problem.
I can't keep having the same conversations about love languages, mbti, iq, bmi, "brain fully formed at 25" and shit over and over again...

Go Away Demagogue-Rabble Rouser
Demagogue-Rabble Rouser
Go Away Mischief-Maker Demagogue-Rabble Rouser:
Unite and fight the demagoguers. Don’t let them divide and conquer. Don’t let them sow strife and rancor. They are rift and phobia mongers. They are questors without honor, loyal to only themselves and power.
Copyright C/O alias CyberTiger (CyberToothedTiger) on Tribel and Substack
(The aforementioned is in regard to dishonest, mendacious, demagogic doofus Donald Trump and character-flipped J.D. Vance and their insurrectionist, anti-US Constitution, anti-democracy, neo-Confederacy, neo-Nazi, heretical-oxymoronic-Christian-nationalism MAGA-mob cult.
A demagogue is a person, or plural of such, who uses inflammatory language and actions to socially demonize, and stoke fear, phobia, hysteria and animosity toward and against, different or outsider others as well as to scapegoat another or others -- in effect, undertaking or campaigning to poison minds collectively against them and socially and politically enemyize, disfavor and marginalize them -- so as thereby to exercise and gain or secure mass, or populist, chauvinist influence and power. Ultimately, power is control, which when possessed by a demagogue is disposed to become abused and unaccountable control.
Click on the following hyperlink to read a relevant but short news article applicable to the above-given definition and description, https://www.newser.com/story/358263/report-trump-called-slain-us-soldier-a-f-ing-mexican.html?utm_source=referral&utm_medium=uol&utm_campaign=rss_top . This article also reveals that when Donald Trump was US president he once remarked to his chief of staff retired US general John Kelly that he needed [Nazi] generals like [Nazi Der Fuhrer] Hitler had [in WWII]. The Bill of Rights Constitutional United States of America needs the kinds of generals, including such as of recently retired, former US Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Mark Milley of our time, and armed forces that the USA and then US President Franklin D. Roosevelt had against and who and which thoroughly defeated Nazi-nation state dictator Adolph Hitler's generals and military, which a US President Kamala Harris (unlike a subversive and traitorous, NAZI-sympathizer Donald Trump) would opt for and have for the USA.
Christianity was an almost entirely pacifist, altruist-love practicing and proselytizing branch (the New Testament) of Judaism founded by Jesus the Messiah and based on his teachings, way of life and the dictums of his afterlife appearances to particularly his apostles Peter and John, of altruistic love, caring mutuality and fellowship among all peoples, all tongues and nations (even in apostle John’s bleak chapter Revelations of the New Testament, Jesus admonishes that those whose names will be written into the book of life (to have heavenly eternal life) will be based on their good deeds). Initially, it was, after the death of Jesus by crucifixion, the Apostolic Universal (Catholic) Church, until it later became the adopted [institutional] religion of the Roman Empire under Roman Emperor Constantine the Great, after which time it became the Roman Catholic Church. Protestant and Eastern Orthodox Christianity branched from Roman Catholicism -- Eastern Orthodox Christianity, including Greek, Coptic, Russian, etc., branched from it long before Protestantism. At root and fundamentally, true Christianity has nothing to do with racial, ethnic or other demographic identity and supremacy nor with provincialism or nationalism of any kind, which are all antithetical to true Christianity. Christianity originated in the Middle East and first spread to Asia Minor, Ionia and Greece, West Asia, Egypt and Ethiopia, not necessarily strictly in that order.
Islam became the predominate religion of these geographies, except for Greece and Ethiopia, as a result of the Arab military conquest of them, and other geographies, following the death of the de-facto first caliph of Islam and Islamic Arabia the Prophet Muhammad, 571 to 632 CE, the founder of Islam and a military conqueror and unifier of Arabia in the decade-plus following the death of his wealthy-merchant, well-educated and highly religious first wife Kadijah bint Khuwaylid, 554 to 619 CE, 17 years older than him and his employer, of a wealthy and powerful merchant Arabian nuclear family and extended family. The Prophet Muhammad left behind himself in life upon his death, as its until then leader, one of the most well equipped, trained, battle-seasoned and powerful of armies in the world. Arabia itself was a province of the western division of the Roman Empire before the fall of the hegemony of the once-mighty western division of the Roman Empire, and its armed forces were well trained and armed by the Roman military long before the birth of the Prophet Muhammad. Furthermore, its armed forces were considered formidable by their Roman political-military overlords. But after the fall of rulership jurisdiction of the said Roman Empire, there was infighting within and among the armed forces and warlords of Arabia, until the growing and growingly successful armed forces of the Prophet Muhammad eventually conquered and unified them all under his command and authority, with the political and probable financial help of the family clan of his deceased first wife into which she was born.)

Part the second, as I wanted to start off with forgiveness of the other. Forgiveness of the self. Again, old lady talking, listen ya whippersnappers! So, back in the mid 1990s, when I was a young teenager, I was hit with a sudden bout of The Religion. I was anxious about and unsure of my future and also of THE future since we were on the cusp of the Millennium, which everyone made a big deal of at the time. I started watching a lot of religious TV and did that responding to the Gospel thing. I cannot say I actually regret it because my spiritual life has been interesting and I still dig Jesus-philosophy. Turned out that I'm the type of Christian you get when you get one who is an actual bookworm and will READ the Bible instead of just listening to preachers. (Progressive now, and kind of agnostic, kind of animist and hasn't been to church in over a decade, please put down your rocks here on tumblr.com). I mostly value my hyper-religious past insomuch as it helps me in understanding certain aspects of American culture and politics that I think a lot of outsiders find frustrating and bizarre. I have the perspective of an American ex-evangelical (enabling me to tell you WHY people in our politics are crazy). Well, since I went to the little Baptist church that I could walk to after my conversion-event (naturally), well... I got a head full of Southern Baptist doctrine, and let's just say... Southern Baptists and the LGBTQ+ community did not mix. This is putting it charitably. Add to that both the emergence of LGBTQ+ identity in the public eye in America and traditional bigotry in society, especially back then, and well... (Back then and today are like night and day, trust me). My early days on ye olde Internet consisted of me encountering people outside of my little rural physical life circle and fearing for their souls because I didn't understand their oh so lustful sexual choices and I really did think it was a choice and a choice to sin and an active rebellion against God, so on and so forth - and that I needed to preach to people to keep them from going to Hell. I no longer believe in Hell - a reckoning perhaps (I cannot see Adolph Hitler or Donald Trump getting a free pass), but that eternal torment stuff? Not for me - no logic in it, and I don't really care "what the Bible says" anymore after learning that it's been through more translations from the original concepts and language than a multiple-bablefish game and is like a game of Telephone. I also no longer believe that being gay is sinful and I feel very stupid for ever having had and EXTREMELY remorseful for people I harassed over it in trying to "save their souls." Ugh.... And, you know what? I figured out some of my underlying problem. Ignorance. Turns out I was put off by thoughts of sex and people's potential sexual behavior because... GUESS WHAT? Turns out I'm not straight. I learned of the term "asexual" in my late 20s and Oh, my God, it explained EVERYTHING about me! I seriously was self-condemning and thought of myself as "just weird." I wondered why I didn't have the "temptation" that my church friends warned me about "when I'd find the right man." Abstinence wasn't as hard for me as they said it would be. I truly did not understand the attraction and identity of others. (And I'm the kind of person who'd be on the outs with much of the evangelical crowd, too). And, it's like... I get it now? To a degree? The same thing applies as applies to my brother above: Forgive, but do not forget. I cannot help my past. I was an asshole. I was an Asshole for Jesus for a while. But, you know what? I've done a whole lot of Losing my Religion. (I'm not an atheist so some people would think I'm not "fully there" yet, but screw 'em. Everyone's gotta walk their own path. If mine leads to "still likes generalised spiritual things but without organized religion" so be it). The point is I am going forward. The past is unchanegable, but hating myself isn't going to do anything about it.
the thing is, if your younger self was a bigot or an abuser, u can't make people forgive you. but you still gotta forgive yourself, like that's non-negotiable, dude. that happens before u can even ask the question of earning forgiveness from anyone lese

[Shuuen no Virche] Birthday Short Story - Yves
Tumblr media
The birthday celebration of a certain handyman
<Original post here>
・゚・:,。★ translation under the cut ★,。・:・゚
Mathis: H-Happy birthday, Yves!
Yves: Thanks, Mathis. And the rest of you guys— I can't believe you went through all the trouble to hold a dinner party just for me...
Adolphe: I mean, you're always helping us out after all. Although... you probably didn't need us to celebrate for you, huh?
Yves: Hey, that's not true. I'm super happy about it!
Adolphe: You say that, but...
*Baaam...*
Ankou: You can't help that thought when you see all the gifts from the townspeople piled up in the garden...
Lucas: Indeed. The moment I saw that huge amount of boxes, I thought you might be moving homes...
Hugo: Haha. He's a real natural charmer, isn't he?
Scien: Well, you won't be running low on supplies for a while.
Yves: Gosh, while I'm grateful for the gifts from the neighbourhood... it feels especially nice being celebrated by my precious friends.
Ankou: ...I see. Our princess and the others should be arriving shortly as well. Please enjoy today's party to your heart's content.
Lucas: I must say, it was surprising that Scien came to participate in the festivities.
Scien: Dahut was nagging me to bring over a birthday gift. I decided to have a drink and a bite to eat while I was at it.
Hugo: Isn't that what the person being hosted should say, not the host themselves...?
Yves: Now, now. Don't sweat the details. 'Tis the occasion, so let's all enjoy it together.
Mathis: That's right! I helped with the cooking too!
Mathis: Ah, but before that... Wouldn't it be better to give him his gifts first?
Lucas: Yes, good point. More guests will be coming later. Let's give him ours first, shall we?
Yves: Huh, you even brought presents? That's too much...
Hugo: Alright, I'll go first. —Happy birthday, partner. Eat this and stay your ridiculously energetic self from tomorrow on.
Yves: Thanks, Hugo. I'll be relying on you too! Is this... a fishbowl? ...And inside is— Woah, there's a fish I've never seen before!
Hugo: It's a big one, right? It's a special catch reeled in by the genius fisher, yours truly.
Yves: It looks like it'll be worth slicing up! I'll cook it up nice and tasty for us.
Hugo: About that. Eat it yourself. Alone. Seriously, by yourself. Down to the last crumb. There's no need to share it with me, got it?
Adolphe: (He's just making sure he doesn't suffer any harm himself...)
Ankou: Now then, as for the gifts from the others—
Tumblr media
Lucas: Um. If I am not mistaken, it seems there are ominous sounds and fumes emanating from the gifts all of you are holding...
Adolphe: ...Yours is the same, isn't it?
Scien: It appears all of us had the same idea.
Mathis: I see, everybody brought fresh ingredients that Yves can cook!
Ankou: I-Indeed... However, we also prepared tangible items in addition to the ingredients...
Lucas: Oh my, to think our gifts would overlap to that extent.
Yves: Woah, woahhh...! Is this much okay!? I'm going to happily accept all of it, you know...!?
Adolphe: ...Well, it's fine as long as he's happy. Mine's a whetstone, so you can use it to maintain your sword.
Yves: Great, thanks! ...It really is wonderful to have people who are special to you celebrate your birthday.
Yves: I wonder if it's alright to be this happy. ...Won't God punish me later?
Scien: I won't, so don't worry.
Hugo: Haha. God guaranteed it. Don't fret, Yves.
Yves: ...I see. That's true. I hope I'll be able to continue to spend my birthdays together with everyone I care about.
Yves: And forever with her—who bound me to this fate.
*CLICK*
Yves: ! Hey, come on in. I was just thinking about you. Thanks for coming for my birthday.
Yves: Huh... a present? I see, you also—I appreciate it. ...Can I look inside?
Yves: ...! It's a gorgeous gem— You found it at Marché? And you thought it would suit me?
Yves: ...Thank you, truly... I'm over the moon...!
Yves: I really am blessed with encounters. After all, I was able to meet a girl who's giving me such a wonderful present—
Yves: From the bottom of my heart, I love the happiness I feel for having met you, my hope—
And I pray that in the future that awaits, I will be able to dedicate my first "love" to you...

By Helen Louise Herndon
History could be made if Kamala Harris is elected President, but this is not about her being a woman or black. No, this is about her plan to institute tyranny in our nation.
Ms. Harris announced she is against any concessions related to abortion, such as freedom of conscience or freedom of religion for health care workers—physicians and nurses. In other words, men and women dedicated to healing the sick and comforting the dying would then be forced to participate in ending lives. I can only think of one particular political party or national leader who exerted and imposed such a tyrannical power over the healers of their nation. That was the Nazi Party and Führer Adolph Hitler.
Her response to a question relating to religious concessions to abortion was: “I don’t think that we should be making concessions when we’re talking about a fundamental freedom to make decisions about your own body.” First of all, it’s a decision not about a woman’s body, but about the separate human being a woman carries in her body. An appropriate response on behalf of healers might be, “We don’t think the right to one’s own conscience or religious convictions should be limited or taken away.”
Furthermore, that other body isn’t just her ovum. It’s an ovum united to a father’s sperm and containing separate DNA, thus creating another human being and person. Shouldn’t the father’s and the separate human being’s concerns or welfare also be considered? So-called reproductive rights do not promote or relate to healing. Pregnancy is not a sickness or disease. No cyst or tumor is removed. It is a station in life and a natural consequence of a sexual act—one that is majority-wise consensual. Including abortion in reproductive rights is solely and primarily a death sentence to that other human being.
The mandate she favors and would seek to solidify into law basically deprives many of their fundamental rights ensured by the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Amendment 1 grants freedom of religion and practice thereof. Most religions—not just Christianity—forbid killing the innocent and unprotected. Thus, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, and other healthcare workers and healers will also be affected by such a law.

Name: Genevieve Belcourt
Age & Birthday: 49 years old, July 28th
Gender/Pronouns: Cis Woman She/Her
Species: Witch - White Witch
Birthplace: NYC, New York
Job/Ties to entertainment: Former Actress / Paramount
Positive Personality Traits: sociable, upbeat, caring
Negative Personality Traits: stubborn, selfish, calculating
ABOUT
Genevieve was born to a line of powerful white magic witches. Her family had been founding members of The Asphodel Institute and had early ties to theater and entertainment, with Harlan Belcourt being one of the founding members of Paramount in 1912 along with Adolph Zukor, Jesse L. Lasky, and W. W. Hodkinson.
She began acting at a young age, and has appeared and starred in several Broadway shows before her career transitioned to the screen.
At twenty years old she met David Chakrii, the name influential in the world of luxury and at 21 they welcomed their daughter, Chloe, into the world.
However, they weren't a family for very long as David simply left without warning, quickly entering another relationship with Natalie Quinn.
Ever since, Gen has experienced unstable and fleeting relationships due to her trust issues where she has been the one to leave or end them before history could repeat itself.
She adores her daughter and put a stop to her acting career to focus on being a mother. When Chloe was older, Genevieve was shocked to find the lack of interesting or dynamic roles for older women in the industry.
This led her down the path of preferring independent movies, using her family name as leverage to ensure women empowerment and their stories were being heard through film.
She has since retired from acting to focus more on her work at Paramount
