OC Interview Tag
I was tagged by @charlesjosephwrites (like two months ago, i am slow) thank you!
I'm gonna answer these for Vee, of Vee the Vampire/Damask
And much like anything fully character based you're getting answers somewhat as though this is a roleplay blog, because sometimes it's nice to jump back to my roots.
tagging @magnus-sm-writes, @authoralexharvey, @multi-lefaiye and anyone else who wants to snag the questions!
~*~*~*~
Are you named after anyone?
"Not as far as I'm aware. But I don't have many memories left of my life before, so if Callisto came from anyone in particular I no longer know." Vee shakes his head, a slight smile on his face as he continues "And as far as the 'Vee' moniker Cassidy gave me, it was almost definitely her choosing something as a joke she knew would stick."
When was the last time you cried?
A long moment of silence, eyes casting to the ceiling in thought. "I'm not sure I remember. Half a year at least?"
Do you have kids?
"That depends entirely on your definition. If you want to follow the archaic rules, technically I have and have done away with near two hundred of my own blood." a grimace, a pause "But I think the closest you'd get to a child in the sense you likely mean is Cassidy, and even then she's more like a younger sister."
Do you use sarcasm a lot?
"No, I would never." Every word drips with it.
Whatâs the first thing you notice about people?
Vee hums, leaning on the bartop as he thinks. "The way they speak, usually. The things they say without words. If the way they carry themself is at odds with whats coming out of their mouth."
Whatâs your eye color?
"A soft kind of brown, so long as they haven't changed over the years. Admittedly I haven't seen my eyes since I was human. I've been told they go solid black at times," --as if in response, his eyes do briefly flash from brown to solid shiny black-- "though again, I've never actually seen it."
Scary movies or happy endings?
"Happy endings." it's immediate, "The world is heavy, I've had enough stress and suspense on my own--I prefer escapism when I can get it."
Any special talents?
"Again that depends somewhat on your definition. If we're going to ignore the obvious perks of vampirism--I'm an exceptional mixologist, an accomplished vampire hunter, and am at least half decent at a number of other things by sheer virtue of being alive for too long."
Where were you born?
"Locana, a small village in the mountains outside of Turin in northern Italy."
Do you have any pets?
"Not at the moment. I've taken in strays every now and then, but it's just not a good idea to keep animals here, so they typically go home with Evelyn and she finds someone to adopt them permanently."
What sort of sports do you play?
"Absolutely none unless you count hunting--and I really don't."
How tall are you?
"Below what I believe is considered average. I'm 168cm, or about 5'6" on a good day."
What was your favorite subject in school?
"I don't think my education was really standard, but I enjoyed--and still enjoy--any kind of storytelling."
What is your dream job?
"I have it. I spend my evenings talking to people and hearing about the parts of the world I can no longer see from a hundred thousand perspectives. I listen to music when I feel like hiring someone, I invent drinks, I keep the local count of death by exsanguination to a minimum."

admittedly very late but have some questions for the ask game !! it's ok if u don't answer them all
- Do you title your fics before, during, or after the writing process? How do you come up with titles?
- What area of writing do you feel strongest in?
- What area of writing do you want to improve in?
- Whatâs your favorite fic youâve posted?
- Who is your favorite character to write for? Has this changed since youâve started writing for that fandom?
- Have you noticed any patterns in your fics? Words/expressions that appear a lot, themes, common settings, etc?
- What are your favorite fics at the moment?
- Do you have any writing advice you want to share?
[ ask game here! come and drop a question, i don't bite :3 ]
- do you title your fics before, during, or after the writing process? how do you come up with titles?
my writing process is literally just an entire random wheel dictating the typing of my fingers on the screen, but fic titling often goes two ways.
usually, when i write a oneshot, i title the fic after the writing process. that way, the title feels authentic and doesn't really stray from the plot i established. i also do this because i get too focused on the plot to bother titling things đ
for multi-character fiction/headcanons, i tend to pre-write the title after i've mapped out a general plot âşď¸ i enjoy titling things prettily and formatting so it's not surprising that that is the direction i lean towards
- what area of writing do you feel strongest in?
HOOHHH boy this is a hard one..... not completely aware of it myself, but personally, i think writing character dialogue and exposition are my strong suits.
- what area of writing do you want to improve in?
description and overall writing tone. there's something in my writing that still feels lackluster (at least, to me), so i'm a little prone to being demotivated whenever that happens.
also, establishing common elements in my writing style! im very indecisive and a huge perfectionist that i often forget that writing is a journey, not a goal where i have to get the highest score in to feel happy đŚđŚ
- whatâs your favorite fic youâve posted?
ummmm okay okay so i KNOWWW i shouldn't be bragging but a personal fic favorite is definitely breathtaking (wanderer x reader) and heart to heart (aventurine x reader)
also, if any old readers know, my old wanderer fic that was about 10k words in length, which im currently rewriting đ¤Š
- who is your favorite character to write for? has this changed since youâve started writing for that fandom?
this is going to sound so controversial. and basic as fuck but it's obviously scaramouche/wanderer! he's the entire reason why i established an account in the first place đ
fun fact: my baby blog days were almost consistently posting about him like i could not shut up lol
other faves include aventurine from star rail, jing yuan, jiyan and lyney!
- have you noticed any patterns in your fics? words/expressions that appear a lot, themes, common settings, etc?
i love making things turn heartwrenching and establishing characters to be absolutely in love and down bad for their respective readers. also, i notice that i tend to lean towards expressive readers more than usual and have a liking for adding mini character traits that make them more like a mini oc than a self insert....
- what are your favorite fics at the moment?
anything by @ddarker-dreams, @daosies and @sixosix! some other recs include
â translation (aventurine x reader) by @/yinyuedjun [ NOTE: CONTAINS NSFW CONTENT DESCRIPTIONS, MINORS DNI ]
â needles and pins (ratio x reader) by @/inarvii
â you're a pain in the neck (literally) by @/xiaowhore [ go check their other works because they're also god tier ]
â how to woo the acting grand sage 101 (al-haitham x reader) by @/baeshijima
â crushing on sunday and robin finding out (sunday x reader) by the GOAT @milksnake-tea
- do you have any writing advice you want to share?
keep practicing and practicing! also, write like no one will read it; this is advice that helped me so much because it allowed me to be authentic in my writing style. aside from that, try to incorporate styles you like from your favorite writers and slowly develop your own elements from said style to create your own! we're an amalgamation of the things we love and cherish, and your writing style is no different.
finally, write like you're in love with writing. yes its it's cringe as hell but writing quality advances by leaps and bounds when you love the trope and/or prompt that you're writing for.
as for improvement, always take it one step at a time. overall, writing is a very hefty process that sometimes makes you feel utterly tired and hopeless due to the many talented writers in active proliferation, but i assure you, your writing is wonderful. keep at it, and write, write, write. (ang corny Neto amputa sorry i just got sentimental for a second)

RULES
 001. Standard role play etiquette applies ( no godmodding, killing of characters without plotting, etc. ) and please note this is a private blog.Â
002. My ask box will be available to everyone, regardless of whether or not I am following you! All I ask is that you do not turn the ask into a thread if I do not follow you back. In the off chance that I answer via ask instead of a new post and you wish to continue a response, please move your reply to a new post to keep things from getting messy. Additionally, my discord will be available for mutuals, so feel free to reach out for my information if Iâm following you back!Â
003. Mun is 25+, and considering the titles the muses on this blog come from, there is a strong chance NSFW content will appear on this blog (including but not limited to violence, gore, death, trauma, and more). While not the focus, smut is also likely to appear on this blog, but this would only take place when all muses involved are of age {meaning no minor muses (should they appear) or preludes where muses are under the age of 18}. NSFW content aside, I will not interact with anyone under the age of 21 regardless of SFW status. Please do not lie about your age. If I find out you are doing so, your account will be blocked without warning or hesitation.Â
004. I am duplicate friendly! I do not want to limit the possibility of following other blogs just because we both enjoy writing the same character, and I think twin/timeline plots can be a lot of fun! However, I know not everyone is comfortable with interacting with duplicates/having duplicates follow them. As such, please do not hesitate to soft/hard block to cultivate a safe space for yourself.
005. For the most part, I am not a stickler on formatting. You are more than welcomed to use whatever formatting you please. As for me, I use a mix of bold, italicized, and colored text (and may use icons if the idea is not too daunting). The only real formatting requirement Iâm going to ask of you is that you are cutting your posts. And as previously mentioned, if I do answer via ask (instead of a separate post) and you wish to continue, please move the reply to a new post.Â
006. I personally do not have any triggers. I will, however, tag the basic issues that come to mind (blood, nsfw, etc). If there are any additional triggers I need to tag, please feel free to reach out to me and let me know! All triggers will be tagged as âtrigger cw.âÂ
007. Please do NOT spam me with reminders about replies. Nine times out of ten I have it drafted and waiting to be written. You are allowed to send me the occasional reminder, but please do not send me multiple messages in a week (much less a day) regarding your reply! I will occasionally make a post to ensure I am current on or at least monitoring all my active threads, so that would be a great time to check in with me! My goal is to (eventually) make a thread tracker (sooner rather than later).
008. This is a multi-ship blog, though some exclusions may apply. It is also important to note that shipping on this blog will be chemistry based. I love shipping (romantic, familial, platonic, give me all the ships), and if you ship it thereâs a 95% chance I already ship it too! But chemistry is still a necessity (and I tend to prefer shipping with muns I am comfortable with/talk to regularly)! In the off chance that I do not agree with the ship, please be accepting of that. Characters are allowed to pine after another/have unrequited love, but do not try to force me into a ship if I have already said I donât see it. This type of action will result in a block.Â
009. I am all for crossovers! Some of my favorite role plays have involved crossovers! Shoot me a message and I would be more than happy to discuss something with you to see if we can make things work! My only hesitancies will be in regards to fandoms I am unfamiliar with (if you only write characters from fandoms I do not recognize, I will admittedly be hesitant to follow back). We can still discuss things and try to make it work, but I may be more inclined to turn down a crossover if I am unfamiliar with the fandom.Â
010. As of 10/7/24 (the creation date of this blog), I am fully caught up on FW, ACOTAR, and TOG, and I have made it a ways into the second time skip of FF XVI. I will mostly follow canon content, but I have sprinkled my own headcanons throughout my portrayals and am creating some AU verses where I feel they are necessary (for interaction sake or simply for fun). Portrayals/headcanons are subject to change with the release of additional books or as I progress through FF XVI.
Thank you for taking the time to read my rules! I have been role playing for 15+ years, and Iâve been role playing on tumblr for probably half that time. I am looking forward to new interactions and further developing these characters that I have come to adore!
Note: This is not a rule so much as it is general information for followers. All posts will be tagged as 'fandom: fandom name' (ex. 'fandom: fourth wing') and 'muse: muse name' (ex. 'muse: violet') for ease of filtering. This is to help followers filter out posts/content that they are not interested in.

⨠Self-appreciation time~! List five of your favorite works, be it in the form of pieces of writing, graphics, icons, drawings, code, and so on. Then, if you're feeling up to it, pass this on to five more blogs! â¨
Sorry this took like, forever and a day to reply to ya! Admittedly, I've been sitting here wondering just what I could show off that I have made over the years and I think I finally have some ideas in mind for that!
All of these are gonna be under the cut since there's a good handful of images I'm gonna be uploading here.
The first thing that I'mma say I'm proud of is Hikaru's very first theme background I made! I think back then, I was using... hollywhood's? code for this one since it was so simple to set up. Also, I've forgotten who exactly drew the piece of fanart at the side, but I'll do my best to remember! At the moment, I'm going through like... almost two whole computers' worth of stuff I've got saved on my Dropbox and apparently my dumbass self was allergic to making folders for images.
The second would be this theme background I also made for my angel OC (who's over at @llbertas atm, but will be moved to my multi) Sertoria. The artist has either privated the work or deleted their pixiv account, but it the fanart at the side was done by ăżăŁăĄ.
The third thing would be this promo image I made for Hikaru way back in the day when I'd make my own promos (ngl I kinda miss doing that.) For fanart credit, this was done by ăăăăă with the direct link over here!
The fourth one would be this image of my main in FFXIV, X'ashaza Zhed, that I made for this glamour set that I still kind of use to this day (only that I've since replaced the shield and sword with the DSR PLD weapons.)
Last, but certainly not least, would be this promo I made for my demon OC. I wanted to create something dark while still staying true to just how unapologetic she is about being a demon and I think I captured that really well in this image. Her blog is still up at @incendii, but I might move her to my multi as well since I miss writing her!
Thank you so much for this wonderful question, Yasemin! I had a lot of fun going down memory lane here regarding my graphics! âĽ
#demonpunch#â OUT OF UNIFORM â downtime is necessary even for a hero tasked with so much; remember to take a break for yourself.#blood cw#gore cw#*ooc: those two content warnings really only apply to the second image as the rest are pretty sfw#just gonna tag them as a jic deal tbh

Writing Update: Creative Corner April 2023
Welcome back to âWriting Updatesâ, which Iâm thinking of renaming to Creative Corner, but uh weâll see! (I tend to go back and forth on these thingsđ
) My thought process is that instead of doing the âGood News/Bad Newsâ format Iâve done in the past, Iâm going to do a âWriting Cornerâ and an âArt Cornerâ instead. Iâll try it out and see how I feel about it. Anyway, letâs get on with the news!
TL:DR Version: Iâm taking this month offâŚkind of. Last month was busy, but really fun!đ This month was busy, but uh, not at all funâŚlong story.đ
Anyway, so no new one-shots this month. However! I did find some RenRuki fluff drabbles that I think you all might like, so I put them together in their own series. Theyâre perfect for a rainy day when you just want to feel good!𼰠They should be out later this month!
Read on if you want the long version:
Writing Corner:Â
*Sighs heavily* Alright, Iâm gonna be honest, this month sucked. Between burnout, family stuff, and depression, I barely wrote at all. I have a nearly completed piece that I could try to rush edit and finish in time, and would at least come out okay. But I thought about it, and realized that while I do like the piece, itâs not at all what I felt like reading right now. I donât read a âhurt/comfort with a bit of angstâ piece when Iâm sad, I read fluff, lots of fluff. In fact, I had a google doc with a couple of fluff scraps that didnât fit anywhere else that I would sometimes go back to and read whenever I was sad just because it made me feel good. And then I thought, what if this month was bad for other people too? Would these pieces make them feel good? So Iâve decided to release these instead in a brand new collection Iâm going to call âSoft Momentsâ. Admittedly, they are more like eating a sugary sweet dessert than having a hearty protein filled one-shot meal, but thatâs exactly what they are for! They are there for people who need to read something nice on a hard day. Anyway, they arenât exactly a one-shot, so thatâs why I decided to put them in their own collection, rather than adding them to âWe Canât All Be Winnersâ. In the end, Iâve decided to release the âhurt/comfortâ piece another time. This also works out well for my new (ever changingđ
) schedule for WCABW, where I am going to do 3 months on, 1 off, 3 on, and so forth!Â
Art Corner: While I havenât done much writing this month, I have gone back to my roots on this blog somewhat and started working on comics again. If you saw one of my earlier posts, you will know that Iâm taking a crack at human based comics. TheyâŚare absolutely not proportional. But umâŚvariety is the spice of life, right?!?! Anyway, hopefully they will at least be funny, but uh, weâll see! That said, I'm thinking of eventually switching to digital art so that I donât have to redraw backgrounds and unmoving characters, but that requires me to figure out how to draw with photoshop on my mini touch screen laptop so uhâŚâŚâŚâŚ..
Bloodlines Corner (because letâs be honest, it gets its own spot at this point):Â
Me: *glares to some far off corner in my google docs* You do realize itâs been months now, right?
Bloodlines: *shrugs innocently*
So Iâve realized I havenât actually explained the premise of this story to most people on this blog, so here we go. Originally, Bloodlines was a one-shot in its own series of one-shots based on the idea of âWhat would happen if Rukia got Hisanaâs illness?â However, I realized that I hadnât really thought it out well enough for an entire series. So then I was going to make it a one off one-shot in a series of one off one shots, thus spawning WCABW. However, it clearly needed more editing, so I decided to release âprestigious school auâ instead. Fast forward several months and not only am I still editing it, but that one-shot turned first into a multi-part and eventually a multi-chapter fic, all the while the events of the story still staying within the same time period, and therefore taking place over the course of one day. It is⌠utterly ridiculous.Â
So anyway, itâs pretty long now, (well for me anyway, itâs almost 30 pages), which makes it take forever to edit. Unfortunately, I think that has caused the back chapters to suffer a bit, because for some reason I always prefer to edit things in order, so by the time I get to the end Iâm pretty mentally exhausted. Therefore, Iâve decided to divide it up by only editing one chapter a day to make it easier on myself. Hopefully this will work out, and I can have it out by like August or something, but we will see! (Not being done until December is unfortunately still probable! đ
)
*Sigh* Welp, this has gotten long, but this month has been even longer so I guess itâs appropriate. In any case, thank you all for reading! The new fluff-filled anthology series should be out by the end of the month. Like I said earlier, itâs more like having dessert than dinner, but sometimes that's just what you need! See you all next month! đ

You talk a lot about how the Digimon are born from the kids own souls, would you be interested into describing how the digimon partners reflect their humans' personalities?
Oh man, I love this topic! (Youâll have to forgive me in that my desire to do justice for it is why it ended up taking me this long to answer it.)
The part about the Digimon literally being part of the kidsâ souls comes directly from official (itâs been mentioned several times, not only in what I just linked). This was never stated outright in the original Adventure or 02, and it took until Kizuna to really shove the link between the partner and the humanâs inner self in your face and make it a huge part of the actual story, but fans had been catching onto it long before that, and even without reading what the staff had said. Kizuna throws a bit of a nail in this because itâs said to be a bit lore-noncompliant, but considering how much of the background lore it still goes out of its way to adhere to, and the fact it still does match the fundamental concept of âhuman heart = Digimon partnerâ regardless of detailed minutiae, we can still apply and analyze this concept with no problem, especially since Adventure and 02 always walked the line between sci-fi and fantasy, and there is undoubtedly a spiritual element to them no matter how you look at it.
(My personal comfort zone in analyzing Adventure and 02 comes moreso from a human behavior and mentality perspective, which is also why my meta on this blog tends to focus more on the human drama aspects of Adventure and 02 and especially the latterâs story being so heavily about human relationships, but if youâre interested in said spiritual elements, I heavily recommend @analyzingadventureâs very comprehensive meta on Adventure background lore and themes, which also covers similar territory in detail. Weâre different people, so our takes on it probably differ in some respects, but thatâs the beauty of having different perspectives, after all.)
In any case, back to your question. I think it would be best to break this down piece-by-piece with the Adventure and 02 kids in detail, so more is under the cut!
...Well, okay, before we continue, I do want to touch on something briefly, and itâs regarding the fact that âevolutionâ in this series is generally a metaphor for human growth. That counts for when everyone gets their evolutions, but it also counts as a metaphor overall -- after all, Adventure is about self-assertion and pushing oneself as far as possible (the major evolution gimmick being tied to Crests), whereas 02 is about cultivating differing aspects of yourself and applying it to how you form relationships with others (the major evolution gimmick being tied to Digimentals and ultimately Jogress). The human self is quite a flexible thing, and the Digimon themselves quite often change personalities as they evolve. (I touched on this briefly in my discussion of honorfiics and first-person pronouns earlier, but in Japanese, the Digimon will often even change personalities and speech patterns as they evolve.) This also leads to a few other potential observations (not really corroborated by official, just my personal view of it):
Speaking from a meta perspective, the fact that only the âfront protagonistsâ end up getting the highest level forms is pretty obviously so they donât have to spend toy budget on allocating it to everyone, but from an in-story perspective, Adventure episode 50 adds an implication that not reaching as high of a form may also have to do with how inherently attuned one is to combat (Jou says that he believes that Gomamon will never reach Ultimate because he doesnât have the sort of strength Taichi and Yamato do, and it contributes to his conclusion that his skills are more meaningfully applied as a healer instead of as a fighter). Of course, none of the Adventure or 02 cast is necessarily the belligerent type that inherently likes fighting in itself, but of course certain ones are less emotionally drained or more attuned to it, so you might be able to see a rough pattern there. (Again, Iâm not going to sugarcoat how this still has a lot of dismaying issues on the meta level, but the difference between âhow much this sucks on a meta levelâ and âwhether this at least tracks in-storyâ is a common theme on this blog.) In a franchise sense, Digimon were of course conceptualized as fighting monsters, but within the narrative of Adventure, it probably stands to reason that having a manifested part of your soul or inner self shouldnât necessarily mean they have to be fighting things all of the time unless itâs necessary.
Itâs very often been pointed out that the 02 cast is at a sort of âcombat disadvantageâ compared to their seniors (well, and Takeru and Hikari, anyway) because their highest forms require two people/Digimon to be in play, so their overall combat power is rather low. My impression is that this is by design (and itâs a subversion of the usual expectation of shounen anime sequels where the sequel will often power creep everything to make the new guard outdo the first). That the 02 team is inherently dependent on each other for support, and to a degree far more than their seniors, is rather baked into its narrative, and moreover, from an in-story perspective, the 02 group doesnât seem like the type to really care about being outflanked by their seniors (on the contrary, theyâd probably take that as more proof that their seniors are amazing). Moreover, the forms you see their Digimon in most of the time tend towards the smaller Baby-level forms instead of the Child-level ones, and while this is partially due to plot logistics about being in the real world (and, admittedly, kind of inconsistently applied), it gives you a much stronger impression of the 02 kids and their partners in general being people who arenât that individually imposing or strong and get more mileage out of flexibility and variety (see: the Digimentals and the huge number of lower-level forms the kids have access to).
With this kind of metaphor, I caution against taking it too literally as a 1:1 thing (especially since official has been generally quiet about it and there isnât much in the series text itself to corroborate this), but I do think there is certainly some kind of relevance thatâs worth thinking about.
Many people, including the official notes I just linked, refer to there being some Digimon partners that are "like-mindedâ with their partner, and some that are âoppositeâ in personality. This is roughly true, but I find this to be a very simplified description of the concept; itâs more like all Digimon partners are a reflection of the less easily exposed part of their human partner (and, most pertinently, the part that would allow them to express themselves in ways they wouldnât normally), itâs just that the kids with more straightforward or less extreme personalities donât have as much to hide or cover up in the first place, and so their partners come off as more âlike-mindedâ. Even Urawa Megumi, voice of Iori and Armadimon (arguably one of the pairs of partners that seem âopposingâ in personality), stated that she didnât personally feel like the two characters are all that different, since humans have different sides to them, and Armadimon is functionally an expression of the side of Iori that isnât apparent.
Because the Adventure narrative has the Digimon partners be linked to human mentality, this leads to the side effect that you wonât have a Digimon partner who ever truly denies the human partner (barring external factors like Evil Ring-induced brainwashing), which is something producer Seki Hiromi was quite insistent about. That said, this is a very Adventure and 02-specific thing, since other series go more into different angles about how one would approach partnership when this factor is not in play; half of Tamersâs drama regarding partners comes from the fact they are not necessarily mentally linked all of the time, and need to find a way to build a relationship by bridging that gap, and so non-Adventure universe entries are more freely able to explore the concepts of a Digimon partner more consciously entering conflict with their human partner. Well, thatâs the beauty of having a multi-entry franchise, after all.
Taichi and Agumon
Taichi and Agumon immediately jump to mind as the first among the âlike-mindedâ pairs, especially since the series shows them so often in sync and chilling together. Taichi himself is a straightforward person, so it stands to reason that his straightforward personality would also lend to Agumon coming off as being rather much like him.
However, there is one slight difference between the two, and itâs that Agumon has a somewhat stronger sense of âeasygoing chillâ than Taichi does, right down to using the more polite boku first-person pronoun in contrast to Taichiâs more assertive ore. He also lacks Taichiâs penchant for mild insensitivity -- in fact, very unlike Taichi, he has an incredible amount of emotional insight (02 spends quite a bit of time in 02 episodes 32 and 46 to showing off Agumon as someone who makes up for all of his lack of intellectual understanding with emotional and borderline poetic insight). And, really, while Taichi is a bit surface-insensitive, and while he seems to be impulsive, he actually is a conscientious person and is trying his best in his own way, and he isnât the kind of person who cares about societal things like seniority, and he demonstrates multiple times that heâs easygoing and chill, and so you can say thatâs a part of Taichi as well. Remembering that a Digimon partnerâs presence helps their own human partner grow, Agumon being so openly friendly helps Taichi maintain good relations with others without running afoul of them.
One of Agumonâs most famous traits is that he likes food, which is not actually something that was in the original Adventure or 02 all that much but has been somewhat exaggerated since. That said, back in Adventure, while it was established that all Digimon regularly need food in order to maintain their evolutions, Agumon would usually be the first to complain âIâm hungry,â and whenever they did get food, Agumon would be one of the most prominently enjoying it. Food is, after all, one of the simplest and most universal of pleasures, and thereâs a lot of visual framing of Taichi chowing down just as ravenously as Agumon is -- so, honestly, he probably got it from him.
Taichi also speaks a bit about his pain of being separated from Agumon in the space between Adventure and 02, and he directly refers to Agumon as âthe other meâ. The word âpartnerâ was not actually used very much in the original Adventure or 02, and Taichi is not able to fully elucidate the sentiment of Agumonâs connection to his own self, but he still understands this much and why the loss cuts him so deeply, and by the time we get to Kizuna, itâs presumably why he uses similar language in his thesis proposal to refer to him. (I already covered the circumstances of Agumonâs relationship to Taichiâs existential crisis in Kizuna and how it led to their separation earlier, so I will omit it here for the sake of avoiding redundancy.)
Yamato and Gabumon
This might surprise some people to hear, but I would also pin this as one of the more ostensibly âlike-mindedâ pairs. Gabumon is shy on the surface, but turns out to be quite passionate -- he uses the same assertive ore as Yamato, in contrast to Agumonâs boku, and he demonstrates his capacity for passion and action in that heâs arguably one of the most assertive in the cast. Note his taking initiative against Yamatoâs frostbite in Adventure episode 9, or declaring his intent to stay with Yamato even if it means going against the others in Adventure episode 44, or singlehandedly dragging Yamato out of the hole of darkness in Adventure episode 51.
And, of course, Yamato himself is someone who initially seems a little awkward or detached around everyone, but is actually very passionate, so thatâs all the same. And because Gabumon himself is so open about communicating with the otherwise closed-in Yamato, Yamato is able to express himself better over the course of Adventure.
Funny thing about that âshynessâ, too -- the idea of Gabumon being particularly shy isnât present in 02 much at all (we donât get to see him very much, so itâs hard to say whether itâs completely gone, but itâs at least gone enough for the duration of his appearances). Which is funny, considering: guess who else stopped being shy and became naturally outgoing in 02? Yeah, so, as much as you might hear people (even official!) claim that the Digimon are static while their partners change, thatâs not completely true -- the Digimon themselves develop in personality in the same way their human partners do. Itâs just more subtle and less drastic, since theyâre representing an abstract single part of their personality rather than being an exact match.
Sora and Piyomon
Sora and Piyomon have an interesting relationship in that theyâre the only one where their relationship started off on a note of conflict -- mainly in that Sora was very put off by Piyomon at first and even looked down condescendingly on her (well, only for the duration of a single episode). In fact, Soraâs own surface behavior is very different from the kind and caring Sora we know -- Sora dislikes associating with the clingy and affectionate Piyomon for being âmushyâ, and even declares that she doesnât want to âtake responsibilityâ for lugging her around.
Of course, Soraâs character arc later revolves around the fact that she has abysmally bad self-awareness and doesnât even realize that she has a compulsive sense of responsibility to others. So Sora is affectionate and loving -- she just puts up a front of trying to act a little above that (well, at least, during this part of the series) and doesnât even see herself as someone capable of being like that (again, purely during this part of the series).
Piyomon is also interesting in that she has one of the most dramatic personality shifts even as early as Child to Adult, where she suddenly switches from the casual atashi to watashi (sometimes even kono watashi, which is super regal), and becomes incredibly dignified and regal even as Birdramon, and you can certainly see why Sora immediately started taking her seriously thereafter. It also begs a lot to think about, considering Soraâs very convoluted character and the many layers of herself that even she isnât consciously aware of.
The way Piyomon helped Sora shift her own mentality is pretty directly handed to you on a plate in Adventure episode 26 -- because Piyomon played the role of Sora in the metaphor of Soraâs behavior towards Piyomon correlated to Toshikoâs behavior towards Sora, Sora was able to re-adjust her position relative to her family and consider her both someone capable of love, and someone who is loved.
Koushirou and Tentomon
Koushirou and Tentomon are another pair that initially seem like theyâre opposing types, with Koushirou being constantly curious and Tentomon being comparatively simple-minded, but the first key to figuring out where the similarity is ends up being a bit deceptive -- Tentomon says in Adventure episode 5 that heâs not particularly interested in himself. And, certainly, Koushirou is interested in Tentomon, but he, too, is not interested in himself -- in fact, he considers himself to be a topic heâd rather avoid instead of looking into everything else.
As far as language goes, while Tentomon does also use the stereotypically easygoing Kansai dialect, he also specifically uses the polite form, mirroring Koushirouâs own perpetual use of polite language. But unlike Koushirou, who uses it to keep distance from others, Tentomon is in fact very sociable, and is even portrayed as a Digimon whoâs conscientious of others and âtakes careâ of them. And because Tentomon is so openly friendly, he manages to coax Koushirou out of his shell and allow him to think about more complicated things related to his own position in the world that heâd been avoiding.
As Koushirouâs character arc proceeds, we learn that heâs polite not only out of distance but also because he really is a very kind person, and moreover that he does eventually want to open up to others. And the payoff for this eventually comes in 02...
...when he ends up becoming one of the most visible members of the older Adventure cast to appear in the series, checking in on the younger kids and developing into someone capable of organizing and managing people. Hmm, seems familiar.
Mimi and Palmon
This oneâs an easy one. Mimi is possibly the most straightforward person in the original Adventure cast -- well, thatâs the point of her Crest after all -- and so Palmon is almost exactly like her, being a cheerful type who loves being cute. Any contrast between them is only really apparent in the very early episodes of the series, and thatâs not even a contrast in theory as much as itâs just something that might intrigue audiences at first when Mimi spent a lot of those episodes complaining, but thatâs also mostly because she was heavily under stress, and otherwise Mimi has always been kind and cheerful and indulgent in being cute.
Perhaps the only real difference is that Palmon, being a plant, is more willing to get involved with dirt and other things that Mimi ostensibly would rather not, but as the series progresses, Mimi manages to gain a higher sense of tolerance and get past her initial sense of materialism (which is something sheâd had the capacity for the whole time).
Jou and Gomamon
Of the Adventure pairs, this one is probably the one that seems like the biggest contrast on its face, with the overly high-strung and constantly stressed Jou, and the more playful and relaxed Gomamon.
In the end, Jou is someone whoâs defined by his desire to support others, and even admits at the end of the series that heâs better suited for a support role than for fighting, and that thereâs nothing wrong with that as long as he continues to channel his desire to help people in a way heâs most comfortable with. So, in the end, heâs not actually an inherently aggressive type. And, meanwhile, Gomamon is the kind whoâs constantly looking out for Jou, to the point of knowing (such as in Adventure episode 7) when heâs about to do something phenomenally stupid and minding him so that nothing bad happens to him, and so, this is probably why theyâre ultimately able to settle down and end the series eye-to-eye (or perhaps hand-to-hand).
And, again, recall that Digimon partners generally reflect a part thatâs vital to their own human partnerâs growth; considering that Jou is most certainly one of the more extreme personalities in this cast, you get the feeling that he probably needs someone this chill to keep his massive stress tendencies in check.
Takeru and Patamon
Takeru and Patamon are an interesting case largely due to the two of them being so present for a whole two series. In Adventure, both of them seem to be largely like-minded, being playful, innocent, and childish -- although Patamon is more open about expressing the childishness that Takeru keeps trying to cover up. Patamon being roughly on the same playing field (no pun intended) as Takeru means that Takeru has someone heâs willing to be open with and let himself loose a little (such as in Adventure episode 12), because for the first half of the series, heâs almost entirely in the presence of elders and stifling himself for the sake of being âwell-behavedâ, and it starts his long journey of being able to understand his position and his actual sense of emotions over the course of Adventure and 02.
Patamon also has a striking personality change upon evolving, becoming the regal and dignified Angemon, and, interestingly, his appearances have a very âknight templarâ vibe where he takes a no-compromise stance against dark forces and states that heâll condemn all of them to oblivion. This is a stance thatâs unnervingly similar to Takeruâs own no-compromise stance against the darkness in 02, and itâs interesting in that Takeru himself had been advocating for pacifism in Adventure episode 12, but this incident traumatized him enough to start taking a position that more resembled Angemonâs.
As we go into 02, Takeruâs contrast with Patamon initially seems like an increased mismatch, since Patamon is still ostensibly childish and playful while Takeru is ostensibly more mature. But for one, Takeruâs character arc is about the fact that heâs still pretending heâs more in control of his emotions than he actually is, and in some way you can also glean that thereâs a sort of naivete present in his character that he keeps covering up with confident smiles. Patamon, for his part, does actually seem to have adopted a bit of a mentor role to the other Digimon, and we also learn that heâs capable of deliberately trolling people instead of just being generically playful -- much like Takeru himself, whoâs a bit evasive and not entirely honest.
We do actually see Patamon reach HolyAngemon in 02 episode 34, but it doesnât work out well, and while this is partially for plot mechanic reasons, it also says a lot that the âknight templarâ stance that both Takeru and HolyAngemon have, with the full depth of no-compromise, isnât going anywhere, and in the end, something more effective is only possible when Shakkoumon appears in 02 episodes 36-37 -- that is, Takeru is only able to better move on with Ioriâs support.
Hikari and Tailmon
Hikari is the only of the Tokyo Chosen Children to have a Digimon who âdefaultsâ to Adult instead of Child or lower, and it means that Tailmon herself comes with a certain amount of maturity -- on top of having been become a bit hardened due to her experiences being isolated. This is an ostensible contrast to the more pure-hearted and innocent Hikari, but note that Hikariâs own will can be pretty assertive when it comes down to it. On top of that, as much as Tailmon is a bit standoffish, Hikari is also âemotionally isolatedâ -- she has trouble vocalizing her negative feelings, and itâs difficult for anyone in Adventure or the first half of 02 to truly connect with her internal thoughts. Recalling that the Digimon partner reflects a side of the human partner thatâs less easily exposed and allows the human partner to grow in ways they wouldnât before, Tailmonâs sheer presence gives Hikari a route to action in ways she probably wouldnât have beforehand.
In 02, Hikari becomes a little more mischievous and playful, and Tailmon also becomes a bit more willing to indulge (she even switches first-person pronouns in sync with Hikari, going from the more polite watashi to the more casual atashi). Both of them are now more able to enjoy themselves more openly. That said, Tailmon still has a certain degree of stuffy personal pride (she snarks at everyone quite easily for fussing over snacks in 02 episode 3), and Hikari herself remains emotionally elusive and repressive at the start of this series.
Tailmon evolves temporarily to Angewomon in 02 episode 13, which is the first time anyone (in this case, Takeru) makes some degree of headway to reaching out to her and allowing her to open up a bit more, but itâs not until 02 episode 31 when Hikari is fully reached out to via Miyako, which marks the first appearance of Silphymon.
Daisuke and V-mon
Now hereâs a very like-minded pair, even more so than Taichi and Agumon -- and, after all, Daisuke is simple-minded, so painfully simple-minded that heâs practically incapable of hiding anything, and so V-mon is almost exactly like him, down to using the same ore pronoun and being feisty and mischievous (a point is also made that he plays soccer with Daisuke, something that Agumon didnât necessarily do with Taichi), and, heck, in a rare show of Digimon-Digimon crushes, has a crush on Tailmon in the exact same way Daisuke has on Hikari. (By the time we get to Kizuna and its higher animation budget, a lot of attention is paid to having even their body language mirror each other.)
There is only one real functional difference between the two in disposition, and itâs that V-mon is very straightforward, friendly, and kind, without being prone to getting angry or spiteful at anyone, and in the end, itâs indicative of the fact that Daisukeâs tendency to lash out defensively at everyone is just a front -- at his core, heâs friendly, supportive, and kind. Daisukeâs experiences and banter with V-mon contribute to him getting the sort of validation he needed without having to worry about being on edge or lash out defensively, and because of that, he was able to form a healthier and more supportive relationship with the rest of the group.
Miyako and Hawkmon
This one seems to be a contrast right off the bat -- Miyako is bubbly, over-the-top, and rather messy and lacking in restraint, whereas Hawkmon is formal, graceful, and polite. But Hawkmonâs most prominent trait is his absolute loyalty and devotion to Miyako -- heâs very often referred to by both official staff and fans as her âknightâ -- and is constantly minding her to protect her and make sure she doesnât go over her head (most prominently, 02 episode 18). And as far as Miyakoâs relationship to others goes -- sheâs also devotedly loyal to everyone she loves and is constantly going out of her way to help others, and her character arc in itself is about the fact she wants to do her best to reach out to people and help emotionally support them in the best way she can, and Hawkmon managing to channel that to its utmost extent to Miyako in turn (in a very âwho watches the watchman?â sense) allows her to regain her bearings and have better control over herself in the aftermath of 02 episode 18.
On top of that, as the series proceeds, it turns out that Hawkmon also shares Miyakoâs penchant for dramatic theatrics and being a bit over his head -- even if he seemingly has himself more together than Miyako does, heâs not completely above it all...
Miyako is also the franchiseâs first example of a female character with a masculine Digimon partner, and while Miyako herself openly identifies with and indulges in all things hyper-feminine, she also has zero issue engaging in more masculine-associated things as they suit her -- most prominently her Digital World outfit, and the fact she often displays a rather aggressive go-getter and hot-blooded/in-your-face personality that would not be out of place on a male shounen hero in a more conventional show. (Although, as much as these have generally been on the thread of âless visible aspectsâ, itâs not like this was that less visible of an aspect of her to begin with...)
Iori and Armadimon
Iori and Armadimon hold the honor of being the only pair in the Tokyo Chosen Children to be voiced by the same voice actress (Urawa Megumi), driving the parallel down even further. And while their surface temperaments seem different, with Iori being rather uptight and strict on himself while Armadimon is laid-back, carefree, and even somewhat assertive, theyâre not that different -- Armadimon is basically the curious, impressionable, somewhat childish spirit that Iori would be if he werenât constantly holding himself back. (Thereâs a lot to be said about Submarimon going out of his way to take Iori for a ride in 02 episode 16 so that Iori can finally properly enjoy himself for once.)
Iori takes a lot of very stubborn, no-compromise positions over the course of 02, but Armadimon asking just the right kinds of questions allows him to âsnap out of itâ and be a little more receptive to considering alternatives, or at least taking into account more emotionally-oriented issues heâs dealing with. You can say that Armadimon (especially as Upamon) softening Iori up a bit -- since Iori will never be cold or unforgiving towards his partner, no matter what -- serves as a precursor to Iori starting to question the limitations of his black-and-white view of morality, which allows him to successfully break through to Takeru and fill out the rest of his character arc.
Ken and Wormmon
Considering how much of the plot revolved around this one, this one almost goes entirely without saying! During Kenâs stint as the Kaiser, Wormmon represents the heart that Kenâs not entirely willing to leave behind -- and, also, the affection that heâs still craving from his family. The Kaiser going practically out of his way to deny Wormmon yet paradoxically keeping him around is basically his attitude towards his own âweakâ and naturally kindhearted self. Notably, recall that the principle of âa Digimon will never deny their partnerâ applies here -- Wormmonâs âbetrayalâ of the Kaiser isnât really any kind of denial, since he was doing it mainly for Kenâs own sake, and, more symbolically, itâs Ken reaching his own limit and coming to realize that this path isnât what he really wants.
Wormmon is unusually clingy to his own partner over the course of 02, and itâs vital to Ken needing to learn to love himself and also getting important validation that he needs, especially during the critical point in time during 02 episodes 23-30 when heâs still not sure how to approach the rest of the group -- Wormmon gives him someone to talk to honestly and openly, giving him a proper springboard to sort out his complicated feelings about the others and himself. You can say also that as Ken becomes more open and straightforward over the course of the latter half of 02, he, in turn, becomes much more shameless about showing affection and opening his own heart.
Wallace, Gumimon, and Chocomon
Bonus round!
While itâs hard to fully apply Hurricane Touchdown to this theory (by official admission, it wasnât properly cross-referenced with the original Adventure/02 series lore, and trying to correlate all of the evolutions in this movie to something metaphorical will give you a headache), Wallaceâs two partners still fit very neatly into this overall theory of Digimon partners as a part of the self. Wallace is a character with very sharp duality, trying to be a flirt who asserts himself as a vagrant whoâs about to âbecome an adultâ, yet still feels an obligation to keep calling his mom and is engaging in increasingly self-destructive behavior.
Most pertinently, Gumimon and Chocomon represent the two stances Wallace is torn between: wanting to âreturn to the pastâ (Chocomon) because heâs still hung up on having lost Chocomon and is convinced that he can make everything just like it was before, and âbeing able to productively move onâ (Gumimon). For most of the early parts of the movie, Wallace is stuck on Chocomonâs mentality of fixating on the past, and Gumimon isnât even remotely subtle when he draws an explicit parallel between the two (saying that Chocomon didnât like the heat, followed by offering to give Wallace shade as a hat). But once the conflict escalates and Wallace realizes just how deep in denial Chocomon is, to the point of being destructive to himself and others, Wallace comes to embrace Gumimonâs stance of practicality and moving on. In the end, the ultimate conclusion is reached, and Wallace is forced to fully accept that latter stance when Chocomon dies, but the movieâs ending (and Kizuna) provide an extra option: allowing the past to come back, but in a new form and treading new territory instead of trying to make it âthe way it was beforeâ.

9, 13, 33
9. Tag 3 fic writers you think are underrated/unknown in the fandom/fanfiction community.
@lone-star-ranger. He's kinda migrating to the Star Wars fandom lately, but all of his ATLA stuff is incredibly well done, with some very unique stories. (His Star Wars stuff is really incredible, too, although I haven't read as much of it.)
@myargalargan. Her Sukka blog is pretty well known, but it seems like her writing isn't quite on the same level, and it is fantastic. One of the best Sukka writers out there, and up there, in my opinion, among the ATLA fandom's writers.
@twinkle-toph. Couldn't go without mentioning at least one of the Kantoph crew. I don't know about her Tokka stuff, but her Kantoph stuff is incredible, and deserves all the recognition in the world.
(To be clear, this is just three of them. I could name another...probably thirty or so, you included.)
13. Do you outline your fics? How much of a headache would someone get if they just looked at an outline of yours without reading the fic?
Oneshots, not at all. Multichapter stuff, I'll...do some outlining, but not very much, usually. I'm starting to do more and more just so I can actually keep track of things and, you know, tell a half-decent story. The outlines I do have are...probably rather headache inducing, not gonna lie.
33. What do you like writing better: one shots or multi-chapter stuff?
Oneshots. Much easier to do. Admittedly more instant gratification, which...yeah, isn't always good, but still. They're just easier for me to actually get done, realistically. I say that like I'm not stuck on...well, all of the oneshots I'm working on, at the moment. Meh. Minor details.

Kobato Kazamatsuri
Of course, I could easily go the easy route by saying any of my other Caligula muses or Kensuke, but as it was previously established in the CE2 lore that Kobato used to be a resident of Mobius, I think it would be both interesting and realistic for them to interact in the setting for The Caligula Effect: Overdose. Unlike the original Go-Home Club members, however, Kobato never managed to regain his memories of Mobius, but it wouldnât be that much of a stretch for, say... Eiji to have known him, despite the fact he was allegedly an âNPCâ; in fact, I could easily see Kobato being Eijiâs underclassman who happened to be a little too girl crazy.
Then again, with Eiji probably being more popular with the girls than he is, Iâm sure he would one-sidedly consider him to be a rival. ...At the same time, though, Iâm not sure how comfortable you would be, writing him in his canon source material, so the whole entire time, I was inwardly sweating, while secretly being all, âWell, I could throw Kobato at them, but Iâm not sure if they would be downâ.
Rana
To be honest, when you asked Eiji what type of person is his type over WIRE, I remember how he specifically stated:
I like smart women. But I suppose dumb ones are interesting as well.
...So now, it got me thinking that with Rana being so gullible and trusting, sheâll probably have no problems, easily believing every word he says. Honestly, this girl is very much an idiot too, so it would be very entertaining to see how Eiji reacts to her stupidity. Sheâs also very lonely, to the point where I could see her being easily attached to him if he happens to be nice to her even once. Still, as their relationship would be a toxic one with Eiji probably manipulating Rana without her being the least bit aware of it, Iâm hesitant to throw her at him, because Iâm not sure if you would favour writing such a dynamic.
Still, Iâm admittedly tempted to give her a MILGRAM verse, because I can see her killing someone out of self defense, due to the fact she has a tendency to befriend very scummy people. /sweats when I remember that one time a friend basically lied about which bus stop she should get off at, which resulted in her ending up somewhere very dangerous
Akira Kijima
So canonically, Akira is a troublesome delinquent who has assaulted a cop before... meaning I can see Seiji threatening him to basically acquit his friend from the charges against him. Akira, however, is a very snarky individual, so while he would at least express gratitude for getting him out of trouble, this boy would still call him an old man and react sarcastically to him.
Of course, I canât say he would necessarily like Eiji due to the fact Seiji would have questionable dirt on him, but at the same time, he wouldnât resort to violence, considering he does have a twisted son of a Yakuza boss for a best friend and he himself has participated in illegal fighting matches.
If Eiji does anything horrible to Natsumi, Ami, or his friends, though, then heâs automatically on his shit list, but since Akira is a valuable ally to have, I doubt he would do anything that drastic to earn his ire... meaning we could probably go the route of Eiji being blackmailed into being the Amanome familyâs lawyer; only, he would also be paid an extravagant sum of money, so I donât think him doing their bidding would be that bad, all things considered.
Vivian (OC)
....Pretty self-explanatory as she has a verse for The Caligula Effect: Overdose, but considering Vivian is also an idiot, I could see her easily liking him and thinking heâs her friend before itâs revealed heâs actually a despicable person. I could also see him calling him âEisterâ, due to the fact she enjoys giving nicknames to people sheâs fond of.
Vivian, however, is also a pervert like Kensuke, so she would secretly find him hot and fantasize about getting whipped by his Catharsis Effect weapon... so Iâm shy/hesitant to follow you on my OC blog while knowing sheâs such a degenerate.

Loki Ep 1 Pt 2
Blow by blow review, take 2:Â
--The âsign this to verify that this is everything youâve ever saidâ thing is genuinely hilarious. I find it a little unlikely that he wouldnât have ultra-suspiciously, with great characteristic paranoia, looked through every single page, and grilled the guy with the cat for info on where he was. Little bit ooc for humor there, which is a major pet peeve of mine.Â
--âDo a lot of people not know if theyâre robots?â Okay this part was great bc it showcased Lokiâs natural propensity to get into trouble because heâs such a curious cat and intellect, lol.Â
--His scorn with âtake a ticketâ when only two variants are in the room is also very IC because Loki despises order without logical reason. Order for its own sake is dangerous and oppressive and heyyyyy a lot like Thanosâs idea of a universe, ainât it.Â
--The All-Knowing Time-Keepers ended a timeline war, huh? H M m m m m M m m . They destroyed the capacity for nexus event and a multi-verse to exist huhhhhh? H M M M M M M M M . Do I smell the potential for many Lokis from many Marvel canon verses, among other things?Â
--
BITCH ME TOO, THE FUCK.Â
--Okay I know everyone hates the logo but I kind of love how it is as fluid as Loki himself? A shape shifter? A master of magic and illusion? Iâm sorry to all the graphic designers out there but Iâm digging it for Conceptual Art reasons lol.Â
--Iâm sensing that if the French kid in 1549 thinks a horned devil caused a massacre in a church, this is evidence of Loki escaping the TVA to jump into the 1500s in France to cause mayhem. A bit predictable and I am hoping otherwise, but he IS Loki, âbetween damnation and redemptionâ at all hours.
--Owen Wilsonâs character is strongly established as a good guy from the start. Â
--âMadam, a god doesnât plea.â Biiiiiiiiiitch yasssss.
--OHO he figured out the Avengers were time-traveling already, sharp. The reason why, heâs so far off that one must cringe for his fall from pride to come.Â
--His laugh, thatâs all.Â
--âHang on, everyone quiet, donât rush me,â lol <3 Not a fan that once again heâs not allowed to use his full powers except within a contained system, but Iâll take it. For now.Â
--âYou ridiculous bureaucrats will not dictate how my story ends.â  Wahoo if this series and character have a thesis statement, there it is. Loki, God of Stories, forger of his own fate even when all tides run against it.Â
--Loki doubting the reality of the TVA is an interesting hint into how much illusion was used to torture him as well as his own hyper reliance on illusion to protect himself.Â
--Loki assuming Agent Mobius wants to kill him when Mobius is just showing him kindness is soooooooo revelatory of where Loki is psychologically right now.
--He still has his trademark swagger :DÂ
--âFor the record this really does feel like a killing me kind of a room,â LOL, I love it, theyâve somehow kept his sense of humor spot-on!Â
--âTrust is for children,â ahhhh kono kokoro.Â
--âI live within whatever path I choose.â Ah, Loki, I wish you could, but is it so simple?Â
--The fact that he tries to kill Mobius immediately and Mobius stops him while being fair and level-headed? Iâm really liking Mobius. Heâs the dare I say friend Loki has needed for a long time.Â
--[Cooperation is] not my forte.â âReally, even when youâre wooing someone powerful you intend to betray?â Oho, okay Mobius, how long have you been serving as the metonymic stand-in for Lokiâs fandom âarmyâ and watching him grow and change and self-sacrifice in the intended timeline? How well do you know him? You seem to know a lot, and that may be a good thing. You could be his advocate.
--âKING OF WHAT EXACTLY?â OH DAMN YES, MOBIUS, KEEP GOING.
--âWHY DOES SOMEONE WITH SO MUCH RANGE JUST WANNA RULE?â TFW A MARVEL CHARACTER HAS READ MY BLOG??????? YES?????? VINDICATION???????
--HE IS LITERALLY UNRAVELING THE TOXIC IDEOLOGY FORCED INTO LOKI UNDER THANOS???? ABOUT THEÂ âLIE OF FREEDOMâ?????? THIS IS AMAZING????
--âI donât have to play this game. Iâm a god.â Oh honey. Put the hackles down now, itâs okay. You have far more heart than that, and far more accountability.
----Allowing Loki to see his entire âcorrectâ (gulp) timeline (and God help us all if the end of this series involves him choosing to die in order to âfix the timeline,â I will RIOT if we get one more cheap âyouâre only redeemed if you die horriblyâ growth arc for a morally ambiguous character) was the most important thing for me as a Loki fan of 10 years. Â Allowing him to weep openly, to come to terms with the loss of his mother and the (too little too late, but at least extant) apology of his father, and, most of all, the potential to regain camaraderie with his brother, this was all that I wanted. A Loki allowed to flex his own muscles in his own limelight, no longer defined by what he lacks, but by what he can uniquely offer (even if in the âserviceâ of an ethically dubious authority). Â A Loki who KNOWS how much his brother has suffered and grieved but who still has his own freedom.I am admittedly optimistic. Â The tone of the show is excellent. Â My only fear at this point is a sacrificial death ending. Hopefully Loki will machinate a way to survive without breaking the universe with his divergent timelines, lol. Perhaps thatâs the whole purpose of the plot going forward.

4. Are there any rules you find difficult, grammatically speaking?
Again not grammatically speaking but I have run into the very odd rules page where people will like, hide keywords in the different pages on their blog - and at the bottom of the rules theyâll be like -Â ânow before you can interact with me, find all of the keywords and send this to me! this will show you cared enough to read through all of my blogâ and while it is admittedly creative, itâs also just???
5. Do you prefer long or short sentences? Why?
I think it depends on the person and on my current state - I think to be thrust into an immense, multi-para experience with someone who Iâve only just met is rather daunting so I do prefer short sentences for introductions and first interactions, with the possibility of the threads becoming longer.
Also some nights Iâll just be really really tired, so Iâll want to do short stuff because itâs quick and easier - other days Iâll be motivated and feel like I can write pages upon pages.
Itâs also all about the content too, you know? You can give me an essay long reply but if itâs just your museâs thoughts or backstory exposition - you know, things I canât really react to - then itâs not exactly going to make me feel motivated to reply to you. Likewise, if Iâm trying to get something going and all Iâm getting is one word sentences or no effort made on your museâs part, not really encouraging there.
6. Do you enjoy your own writing? Why or why not?
In college, I took a writing course and every class he would assign us a subject to write a poem or a short story on, and Iâve been writing my own stories since I was a kid.
I once described writing as a purge - a way to release my creative outlet but something I donât wish to revisit. I find Iâm too critical of my own work to be able to properly enjoy it and I become embarrassed when people admit they read it - because I assume they can also spot all of the flaws and the cliches and the contradictions.
If I ever went into writing, Iâd probably want to write under an alias.
4. What is your preferences in characters?
Blonde, hyperactive, make bad choices, blonde boys as of recent, it seems lol.
5. Do you prefer magical or mundane characters, why?
I honestly feel like Iâve rarely gotten to enjoy the âmagicalâ side of writing Ryuji due to so many experiences early on with people trying to godmod and wedge their way into the Phantom Thief storyline - as a default, Iâve sort of resorted to his mundane stuff but Iâve thought of making another Skull starter call, it would be selective though.
As far as in general, it depends on how complicated the powers or the magic are, but I generally like mundane more! Feels more relatable.
6. What is your favorite show, but your least favorite character in said show?
Probably, The Office and I would say Andy - I get that heâs supposed to be obnoxious and annoying, but I still dislike him anyway and the fact that his role only grows with every season makes him harder and harder to ignore. Heâs just not funny to me and I generally donât find myself rooting for his success - the only times I found him sympathetic were when he was trying to win over Angela in the latter half of Season 4 and when he was being cheated on in Season 5. Otherwise heâs annoying as hell.

Barely coherent rambling about nation-states, culture, the Hapsburgs, and Canada
Because why have a blog except to occasionally purge one of the essays floating around half-formed in your brain. To be clear, itâs still half-formed, just on tumblr now. 1,666 words, hereâs the Deveraux essay mentioned. Book is Martyn Radyâs The Hapsburgs: To Rule The World
So Iâve had like, nationalism on my mind recently.
And so thereâs a kind of recurring beat in left-of-centre American political discourse (like, not âinternet rnados screaming at each otherâ discourse, âpeople with doctorates or think tank positions having debates on podcasts or exchanging op edsâ discourse) where you have some people on the radical end list some of the various horrible atrocities the country is built on, the ways that all the national myths are lies, and how all the saints of the civic religion were monsters to one degree or another â this can come in a flavor of either righteous anger or, like, intellectual sport. And then on the other end you have the, well, Matt Yglesiases of the world. Who donât really argue any of the points of fact, but do kind of roll their eyes at the whole exercise and say that sure, but Mom and Apple Pie and the American Way are still popular, and if youâre trying to win power in a democracy telling the majority of the population that their most cherished beliefs are both stupid and evil isnât a great move.
Anyway, a couple weeks back Deveraux posted an essay for the 4th of July (which I donât totally buy, but is an interesting read) about why the reason American nationalism is so intensely bundled up into a couple pieces of paper and maybe a dozen personalities is precisely because it isnât a nation at all. Basically, his thesis is that in proper nation-states like England or the Netherlands or wherever, there really is a core population that is the overwhelming demographic majority and really have lived in more or less the same places since time immemorial, and that once the enthographers and mythologists finish their work, all those people really do identify with both the same nation and the same state as its expression. America, by contrast, is by virtue of being a settler nation whose citizenry was filled by waves of immigrants from all the ass ends of Eurasia in a historical eyeblink, even before you add in the native population and descendants of slaves lacks any single core ethnicity that is anywhere close to a majority, as well as any organic national traditions or claims to an âancestral homelandâ that arenât obviously absurd (and we are trying to include the descendents of slaves and the native population these days, to varying levels of success). All this to say that his point is America is a civic state, not a national one, with the identity of âAmericanâ being divorced from ethnicity and instead tied to things like the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the whole cult around the Founding Fathers, Lincoln, and [FDR and/or Reagan depending on your politics].
Which, like I said, donât totally buy, but interesting. (to a degree he overstates how homogenus âactualâ nation-states are, he makes America sound very special but if his analysis holds that itâd presumably also apply to several other former settler colonies, in the American context thereâs a fairly solid case to be made that the whole ânation of immigrantsâ story and the racial identity of whiteness were constructed to function as an erratz national ethnicity, with incredible success, etc, etc).
But anyway, if we accept that the American identity is bound up in its civic religion and the mythologized version of its political history, itâs absolutely the case that thereâs several segments of the left who take incredibly joy in tearing said civic religion and national mythology apart and dragging whateverâs left through the mud. I mean, hell, I do! (reminder: any politician whose ever had a statue dedicated to them was probably a monster). And, well, call it a greater awareness of historical crimes and injustice, or the postmodern disdain for idols and systems leaking out through the increasingly college-educated populace, or the liquid acid of modernity dissolving away all unchosen identities, or a Marxist cabal undermining the national spirit to pave the way for the Revolution or whatever you like, but in whichever case, that critical discourse is certainly much more prominent and influential among left and liberal media and politics types that is was in decades past.
And, okay, so I finished Martyn Radyâs The Hapsburgs a few days ago. And I mentioned as I was reading it that the chapters on the 19th and 20th centuries reminded me quite a bit of courses Iâd taken in school on the late Ottoman Empire and Soviet Union. Because all three are multi/non-national states (Empires, in Deverauxâs terminology, though thatâs varying degrees of questionable for each, I think. Moreso for the Hapsburgs than the rest) who outlasted their own ideological legitimacy. And in all three cases it just, well, it didnât not matter, but even as all the ceremonies got more absurd and farcical  and the politics more consumed by inertia punctuated with crises, things kept limping along just fine for decades. Even in the face of intense crisis, dissolution wasnât inevitable. (The Ottomans are a less central example here, admittedly, precisely because of the late attempt to recenter the empire on Turkish nationalism. But even then, more Arab soldiers fought for the Sultan-Caliph than ever did for the Hashemites, and most prewar Arab nationalism was either purely cultural or imagined the Empire reformed into a binational federation, not dissolved).
But as Rady says in the book â losing WW1 crippled Germany, it dissolved Austria-Hungary. And in all three cases, as soon as they were gone, the idea of bringing them back instantly became at least a bit absurd.
And okay, to now pivot to talking about where I actually live but about whose politics I (shamefully) know significantly less than Americaâs. I mean, maybe itâs because most of my history education from public school was given by either pinko commies or liberals still high off â90s one-world universalism, or maybe itâs just a matter of social class, but I really canât remember ever having taken the whole wannabe civic religion of Canada seriously (the only even serious attempt at sacredness I recall was for Remembrance Day). Even today, the main things I remember about our Founding Father is that he was an alcoholic who lost power in a railroad corruption scandal.
Really, in all my experience the only unifying threads of national/particular Canadian identity are a flag, a healthcare system, those Canadian Heritage Minute propaganda ads, a bill of rights from the â60s, and an overpowering sense of polite smugness towards the States.
And that last one (or, at least, the generally rose-colored âCanada is the good oneâ view of history) is taking something of a beating, on account of all the mass graves really rubbing the publicâs noses in the whole genocide thing. At least among big segments of the intellectual and activist classes, most of the symbols of Canadian nationhood are necessarily becoming illegitimate as Canada is, in fact, a project of genocidal settle colonialism.
But it really is just purely symbolic. Most of the municipalities who cancelled their Canada Day celebrations are going to elect Liberal MPs and help give our Natural Governing Party its majority in the next election, no one of any significance has actually challenged the authority of the civil service or the courts. And, frankly, most of the people who are loudly skeptical of all the symbols of the nations are also the ones whose political projects most heavily rely on an efficient and powerful state bureaucracy to carry out.
(This is leaving aside Quebec, which very much does have a live national identity insofar as the vigorous protection of national symbols is what wins provincial elections. If I felt like doing research and/or reaching more thereâs probably something there on how pro-independence sentiment has largely simmered down at a pace with the decline of attempts to impose a national Canadian identity).
I mean, Canada does have rather more of a base for a ânationalâ population core than the US (especially if youâre generous and count the people who mark French on the census as a core population as well). At the same time, no one really expects this to continue to be the case â even back in Junior High, I remember one of the hand outs we got explaining that due to declining fertility most or all future population growth would come from immigration (I remember being confused when my mother was weirdly uncomfortable with the idea when it came up). I suppose our government gets credit for managing public opinion such that anti-immigration backlash hasnât taken over the political conversation. Which youâd think would be a low bar but, well.
But anyway, to try and begin wrapping this rambling mess up â it does rather feel like Radyâs portrayal of the late Hapsburg empire might have a few passing similarities to the future of Canada. A multinational state whose constitution and political system and built on foundations and legitimized by history that no one actually believes in anymore, or at least no more than they have to pretend to to justify the positions they hold, but persisting because itâs convenient and itâs there and any alternatives are really only going to seem practical after a complete economic collapse or apocalyptic war. (Though our civil service is a Josephistâs dream by comparison, really.)
Or maybe Iâm premature, and the dominant culture will just be incredibly effective at assimilating immigrants into that civic identity. Anecdotally, the only people I know who are at all enthusiastic about Canada as an idea are first generation immigrants. I could certainly just be projecting, really â Iâve never really been able to get all that invested in the nation-state as an idea of more moral power than âa convenient administrative division of humanityâ, and certainly liberating ourselves form the need to defend the past would certainly rectifying certain injustices easier. Â
Or maybe Iâm just being incredibly optimistic. Half the economyâs resource extraction and the other halfâs real estate, so decent odds the entire place just literally goes up in flames over the next few decades. BCâs already well on its way.

An Update âĄ
sooo... debby ryansÂ
hi guys!!! i know itâs been a long time since iâve posted and really updated you all on everything, and iâm so sorry about that!! i have a lot of explaining to do, and iâm back... sort of?Â
long story short, what happened back in early August was burnout. i got tired of the blog in all honesty, and i wasnât exactly in the perfect mental state last year. i overworked myself and stressed a lot over the fact that school was starting up soon and posting on time, which isnât anyoneâs fault. at one point i finally decided i couldnât even look at the blog anymore and simply logged out- i wish i had at least given a hiatus message before i had done so, but at that point i was extremely overwhelmed and not thinking right.Â
over the break, i kept Tumblr on both my phone and laptop (which, yes, I got !!) and occasionally checked up on the blog. it warmed my heart seeing how much i was growing despite not posting (weâre almost at 200 followers, and we had reached 100 the last milestone... holy shit ??). but i was still working on myself and resolving my issues, so i stayed away from the blog.Â
now, iâm doing much better!! iâm at a great place mentally and iâve learned how to balance school. i really needed the extra time to work on myself, and now iâm 100% sure i can take up the blog again. although, i wonât have the most consistent schedule admittedly. i have some other projects going on along with school, but iâll still try to post at least once a week! iâll likely be able to have a consistent schedule in the summer, although iâll keep you all updated on that.
for now, iâm clearing out my inbox requests! iâm going to reopen requests when the weekend comes around, and iâll be working on a 200 Milestone post (which i may be holding a poll on, iâm not sure yet). iâve also gotten into some other fandoms along the way, although i likely wonât become multi-fandom til at least the summer as well (if i even do).Â
thank you so much to the ones whoâve stuck with me til now, and to my new followers, hi!! âĄâĄ

Addressing Idol Advent so far.
Thank you to everyone supporting this Christmas au daily segment. I am grateful for everyone who is enjoying it and equally acknowledging it takes a lot of work to run a segment like this.
Choosing the idols each year is a hard process. I donât do double ups from previous years, so if youâre expecting an idol youâve seen behind an advent door before, they wonât be in this yearâs 2020 segment. I do try to use groups that I write for, and add in a few new ones here and there. I also try to offer lesser written idol groups/rookies.
But there are only 25 slots and at the end of the day, I choose who suits the idea best. I also donât write for idols Iâm not entirely well-versed in. Iâm an older fan, and whilst I do consider newer/younger groups for variety, my tree wonât be full of them, admittedly.Â
Iâve received a few messages asking if certain groups will be in the tree, or asking why I wrote about a certain idol. Especially todayâs one. If you donât know, my blog was started on Wanna One content. Every year Iâve written at least one Christmas story with a member from W1. Whilst they are disbanded, they are still a group that I respect and if it werenât for them, maybe I wouldnât have had the confidence to return to writing. Iâm not sorry for adding in Jisung today. He was the only person I could think of who suited the idea perfectly that was free to use.Â
I donât write this segment for views, for attention, for anything other than spreading Christmas cheer and the buzz of keeping things a little under wraps for people to find. Normally, I do tag the idol and the group theyâre in but I felt like keeping it completely hush this year for an extra bit of fun. If you donât like who you find under the tree after clicking to see it, then move on, you donât have to read about an idol you donât know/enjoy! I wonât be offended at all!
Iâm ending this with once again thanking those who have been following this segment daily and enjoying it regardless of who they find under the tree. As a multi-fandom stan, Idol Advent brings me a lot of joy and Iâll continue to write it with the same happiness!Â
Weâre only on Day 11 - thereâs plenty more fun and wonderful idols to discover.Â

âââ  BASICS! âĄ
(PEN)NAME! ⥠  skells
PRONOUNS! ⥠  she / her
ZODIAC SIGN! ⥠  cancer
TAKEN OR SINGLE! ⥠  married
âââ  THREE  FACTS! âĄ
1! ⥠   Laughing at lucaâs point about language because once in french class, after having put in a small text in french she told me that my french was more of an amalgamation of attempted french, Portuguese and English. I mean. She was right, I still donât know french except the gut feeling that I get from Portuguese.
2! ⥠   I have a degree in computer engineering and  I hate the âhave to have a passionâ mentality that this industry has. If you donât have pet projects that you work outside of your actual work then people think youâre not a good developer. Passion is the single worst indicator for a job. Always. Ever. I have more interests than code and I have a very limited amount of time outside of it. Sorry that I donât spend it doing more code. I went to uni for computer engineering not because I was passionate but because I wanted to make sure I would be independent. Itâs not the story of everyoneâs dreams or what young people often want to hear but I ended up being lucky that I found  something that I ended up enjoying and being able to survive off it. And thatâs nothing to be shameful about. If you want to peruse your passion my dude Iâm all the way with you, but donât shame those that have made different choices.
3! ⥠  Ok last point was pretty serious, uhh... thereâs a comics about bi/multilingual people about what people expect us to be like vs what it is. Where people expect us to be able to be super eloquent meanwhile Iâm just here feeling dumb in 3 languages. Thatâs how my existence for this past few months have been.
âââ  EXPERIENCE! âĄ
PLATFORMS USED! ⥠ tumblr, just tumblr. I used to do Skype, msn (I am indeed ancient) and forums. That was a very very long time ago. I have never done anything on discord but usually prefer to keep everything on tumblr because again itâs better for my time managementÂ
âââ  MUSE  PREFERENCE! âĄ
GENDER! ⥠  female, usually
LEAST FAVOURITE FACE(S)! ⥠  donât really have least favourite. To be honest I tend to use icons that Iâve had for the past 5 years. If I can do edits that are âfacelessâ, thatâs usually what I do.Â
MULTI OR SINGLE! ⥠  multi. Despite all the things that come with a multi that is multi fandom, for myself and my time available and for my sanityâs sake: I need everything in a single blog
âââ  FLUFF / ANGST / SMUT! ⥠ Â
FLUFF: Â yesss boyoooo. Though I think it depends a lot on the pairing, the plot going and the characters themselves. Fluff with the priestess or maxima tend to be really hard to write for myself personally.
ANGST: Â chef kiss
SMUT: Â tbh I think this is one of those things where I wish I was better at it and felt more comfortable with it. I honestly donât know if things are good when I write smut. Iâm ok with it but depends on the threads, my mood, partner etc. Most often prefer to fade to black!
PLOT / MEMES! ⥠ I am admittedly a plot fiend. Usually the plots that come from light plotting and back and forth memes tend to stick for longer. I do love memes. Receiving and sending them though I tend to miss memes on the dash since Iâm not really here that often depending on the days!

Top 6 Kinoverse ships
This is quite an unexpected post from here donât you think? Well donât worry, youâre not the only one to think so.
Usually, at least for me, Ships have always been a secondary priority on this blog so I never really put as much focus on them as some others normally would, however, I feel as though they are important enough in their own right, especially when some of the more interesting storylines of certain characters have been built up as a result of the ships that are currently here, or are in deveopment, which makes one better appreciate them overall.
Today, weâre going to be taking a look at 6 of the ships I am fond of, or have been more prominent than some others. Some ships may not have the characters officially together yet, but will lean heavily towards that direction as their story progresses.
6. Rosalia x Bowen ( @tetsuwan-atomâ )
One of the earliest ships to be made in the Kinoverse, we have a powerful sorceress who can travel to most any place in the Multi-Universe and a guy who pretty much does the same thing for a science based organization. Since Raildex is the main setting for the Kinoverse, I like the fact that we have two people on the opposite ends of the spectrum, (that being Magic and Science) get along so well. Truly, these two embody the phrase, âWhen Sicence and Magic Cross Paths, a Story is Born!â
Admittedly, my musing for Rose has been low as of late, hence why she doesnât make that many appearances as much as she used to, and Iâm still trying to figure out her own backstory and whatnot, but when she does appear, I truly enjoy the interactions she has with Bowen, and mostly how he reveres her like sheâs a queen lol. And who can blame him? Sheâs got the looks, she has the charisma, (something I wanted to explore a bit in the âGenesis Timelineâ but I digress), and she also has a Childish side to her, which comes in the forms of the pranks she pulls on others, mainly Kamijou for some reason. Overall, I hope that there are more interactions between them in the future that is to come! These two are dimension hoppers and lovers, so thereâs plenty of things to do as far as spin off stories are concerned!
5. Shido x Sayo ( @crystalmelodiesâ )
This one is another favorite of mine, solely because of how Shido is basically attached to her. When I think about it, Shido has had the most dramatic changes in his character thus far, from being Aogami Pierce 2.0 to becoming someone more rigid, Shido has finally found someone that he genuinely cares for and will do anything to protect, he went through great lengths to save Sayo when she was fated to disappear as an angel and ever since then heâs become protective of her. In some occasions, whenever Sayo is gone for an extended period of time, he goes into worried dad mode/edgy mode and looks all over for her, only to feel totally silly when she returns and is fine, which i hilarious and kind of sad when looking at it more deeply.
Sayo is basically the only person in his life that he has at the moment, and there in lies a fear of, âwhat if she vanishes againâ and that fear of losing her in one way or another is always in the back of his head. Itâs also why heâs gone off the deep end as of late with something else thatâs influencing him (but we will see how that goes if that becomes a future arc). Overall, their interactions are very wholesome when they do happen and its nice to see both of then happy together. Now we just need Shido to get snapped out of his dark lord phase so we can have more happy moments with theeeemmmmmm!
4. Touma x Lucia (crystalmelodies)
Another ship I am interested in seeing, even though the two have not gotten together, let alone confessed to each other, is Kamijou Touma & Nanami Lucia.
Here we have Kamijou Touma, the guy who has met an untold number of girls in his adventures from all walks of life, as per the âKami-Yan diseaseâ that his classmates call it, with a girl who seems as ordinary as they come, though in reality that isnât the case. So whatâs noteworthy about this particular pairing?
Well, a few reasons, but mainly its the fact that at first glance, Lucia is an ordinary girl that lives in a quiet seaside town devoid of crazy technology, and Espers that the metropolis known as Academy City has, so Iâm quite fond of the idea of âAn Average High School Boy You can Find Anywhereâ being paired with a person thatâs âAn Average Girl You can Find Anywhereâ that the two seem to represent. Not only that, but they both get along quite well and there has been hints, at least on Kamijouâs end that he has somewhat of an interest in her.
From Kamijouâs point of view, she differs from the other girls that he is antiquated with in the fact that sheâs one of the very few people that doesnât appear to react Violently whenever he gets thrown into a misfortune event. She also differs from the others in the fact that she is a âregular personâ whereas the other girls have been everything from Espers, to Magicians, to Saints (Superhuman Magicians), and even Gods themselves, so the fact that he has met someone who not only tolerates his misfortune, but appears to be so far removed from the crazy sides of the world that heâs been constantly thrown into.
of course, we know that Lucia is not an ordinary human; sheâs a Mermaid, a Princess, and a Magical Girl? It would be interesting to see how Kamijou reacts to finding out that not only is she all of these, but her circle of friends are as well and related. Overall, even if he found out about that, he wouldnât see her any differently than he already does - because he would still see her as his friend, even if she were a Goddess. If she was in trouble or sad, he would definitely come running to her side.
On a side note, in the Genesis Timeline, he also showed interest in her Mermaid Persona, something that is also true for the Rebirth Timeline, so it will also be interesting to see how he reacts to finding out that Human Lucia and Mermaid Lucia are the same entity. For the time being though, this will be somewhat of a slow burner as Kamijou plans to wake her up from her coma as well as deal with his internal issues regarding his self worth, the identity crisis he has as a result of the destruction of his memories from Index OT 1, and the PTSD he has from being killed by Othinus to damn near infinity. These two will certainly be in for quite a ride as time goes on.
3. Zarama/Zelreich x Artemis ( @averageismsâ )
When Zarama was conceived as the primary Antagonist for the second half of the Genesis Timeline, he was originally going to be this power hungry tyrant that saw the universes and everyone within it as his servants, however, as I began to develop him further and better develop his motives, he eventually became a complex character that could be a villain that you can both hate and somewhat sympathize, given the back story that I had originally given him and what he was trying to do overall throughout Genesis Order. He was one of the characters I least expected to become shipped with someone, yet here we are, with it becoming among the top 3 ships I have.
Thereâs something about this particular pairing that has me coming back to it every time. Itâs interesting to see how this powerful being who is so far removed from humanity, has taken an interest in the most human/average person you can find out there, which makes this reminiscent of something you would see in a Disney film or some supernatural drama. In the old timeline, Zaramaâs attachment to Artemis mostly comes from the fact that he has been around beings who were so far removed from humanity for eons upon eons, that meeting someone who was normal was a breath of fresh air for him - someone who was uncorrupted by the supernatural and just wanted to have someone to come back home to.
In the rebirth timeline, Zarama is decidedly different as a character overall, as while he is not really a god like he was before, but rather a curious immortal that travels the Multi-Universe to study abstract concepts like The Essence and Bio-Energy as well as various magics. His attachment to her stems from the fact that for ages, he has wanted a companion that would remain at his side, as he knows the pain of isolation that his immortality brings and he feels a similar loneliness inside of her for different reasons. Yet heâs made an oath that he would never abandon her in the same way others have abandoned her.
This iteration of Zarama hasnât gone down the dark path that his Genesis Timeline counterpart went through and doesnât have some grand plan to save all of creation. Heâs instead more focused on his research as well as just being with Artemis, as he sees her as the one his heart has been seeking for a very long time. Overall, I enjoy the interactions they both have and I canât wait to see how this pairing further develops.
2. Makoto x Grete ( crystalmelodies )
At number 2, we have one of the more newer pairings in the form of Makoto and Grete.
This one is interesting because of how far we were willing to see Makoto go in order to ensure her happiness and safety. Ever since he saw that vision of her during the first week of their meeting, an attatchment has been formed between them, with Makoto wanting give her the happiness that had been stolen from her. Even though he was a bit caught off guard when she practically confessed to him, Makotoâs feelings for Grete wasnt fully realized until he was taken away to Academy City, where he came to realize that he had indeed developed some sort of feelings for her.
Although it wasnât written, during Makotoâs final moments in Academy City, we would have seen him face off against Kamijou Touma and how he was willing to become a reprehensible person in order to ensure his future with Grete, which would have been interesting given how Grete is practically similar in that regard. Kamijou would have given him the question of if Grete would really be proud of the things he was doing in her name, asking that would she really be content with smiling by his side, knowing that he had hurt people along the way, which causes his resolve to waver a bit. Makoto would then go onto say that as long as MINUS has their hooks on them, then he had no choice but to be a villain. What would have transpired next would be Kamijou declaring that he will save Makoto from this darkness and return him to Greteâs side, and he would do so by destroying the Illusions that he was holding onto.
After that grueling fist fight, Kamijou would carry Makoto over to Academy Cityâs warehouse district where he would have Rosalia and her maid take him out the city and return him to the life he was take whisked away from, giving him a new found hope and resolve to being at Greteâs side. Now Makoto has to deal with the aftermath of his disappearance, and that means he will be staying by her side even more and to make sure that he never suddenly vanishes from her life like that again.
I really like this pairing, and I hope to see this develop more and see where it goes, because the story behind it, from his Makotoâs Precognition Ability, to his defeat and salvation at the hands of Kamijou Touma, and the possibility that Makoto and Grete may be long lost childhood friends, as it has been hinted at at least twice before!
1. Accelerator x Violent Violet ( @xbloodsoakedxâ )
I think we know by now this was obvious. After all, it is the most popular pairing in the Kinoverse so far, and the most active.
Initially, I wasn't that crazy about it due to a myriad of factors, both in-universe and out of universe that had my mind not in the right place, however as time grew I grew to appreciate this pairing and the wildness that comes with it. Accelerator was one of the muses who I least expected to get paired with someone due to his personality, but surprisingly, he and Violet complement each other quite well. You have two of the strongest people in the verse who have gone through some similar things in their past, mainly how they were experimented on to become the powerhouses that they are now today.
Although Accelerator isnât keen on showing affection most of the time, he definitely cares about her and came to realize just how much she has changed his life, similar to Last Order. He sees her as more than just a lover, he sees her as part of his âfamilyâ whether or not he would openly admit such. We see this in how he reacts to Violet vanishing for a week during the Shura Arc and how determined he becomes to save her from the darkness that she was pulled into. You also have the fact that this came after Last Order had been kidnapped herself, so Accelerator at this point is tired of people targeting everyone that was close to him, a development we will see as the story moves forward with his desire of wanting to protect that family of his, be it Last Order, Violet, the two older women who are his âguardiansâ Worst, and the MISAKA Network Clones.
Something thatâs also noticeable in Accelerators casual interactions with Violet is how he can be such a tsundere, in that Violet likes to cuddle and kiss him, yet despite looking displeased, he lets her do what she wants, similar to how he lets Last Order pester him. I think Violet and Last Order are the only ones who can get away with calling Accelerator a Tsundere lol
Ultimately, Itâs thanks to this connection she has formed with Accelerator that she has blended into the city of bizarre science so well. Last Order was not initially fond of Violet, believing her to be a bad influence on Accelerator but that quickly changed and is now attached to her as she is to Accelerator, while Worst, Yoshikowa and Yomikowa were genuinely welcoming of her presence for differing reasons, but all can agree that they can tease Accelerator about Violet whenever the moment arises.
In the Genesis Timeline, Violet became a celebrity of sorts in Academy City, and you can expect the same thing to happen in the Rebirth Timeline, with many people taking an interest in her for varying reasons. Overall, this is certainly a pairing you want to keep your eyes on as the story progresses.
That also reminds me, two of the Three heroes are now in relation ships. Hamazura Shiage is with Takitsubo Rikou and Accelerator is with Violet, leaving Touma to have to contend with being single yet also having the worldâs largest harem while being totally unaware of it. This can change though...once he wakes up a certain mermaid lol
And there you have it. 6 ships I enjoy in the Kinoverse. There may be others that I missed or neglected to include, but these are the main ones that have been on my mind when it comes to this topic. Will there be more? Possibly in the future, but for now, this is it!
