Quick Update!

Hey hey, it’s been a bit buuut~ I finally managed to get everything set for my shop reopening! There were some minor setbacks in restock but most of it has been ironed out. The shop should be opened a bit longer this time and I hope to add more listings soon, but for now keep an eye out for shop announcements if you’re interested.

Until then I’ll be back to posting regularly and answering asks from my box~

I’m gonna just talk about @mushroomminded Peachy for minute here.

Trigger warnings for mentions of suicide and explicit themes

Peachy left the Wetlands because she wanted something more than fighting every day to survive. She sought out her own happiness and she found it in Splatsville. She made friends. She was happy. She was having fun. She’d found the life she’d always wanted.

And then she fell in a hole.

And suddenly the whole world turned against her.

She’s been betrayed by a system she thought was there to support and protect her. She’s been exiled and shunned by propaganda and lies. She’s been gaslit and manipulated and abandoned.

And despite all of that, she kept going. Because she’s Peachy and she knows how to fight back. She has a knife and she knows how to use it. She stood her ground and clawed her way back into the life she had made for herself.

And then she got punished for it.

She was ripped away from everything and everyone she loved. She was Her friends had to abandon their lives because of her.

She fought so hard and so long and this is how she has been repaid. Hurt again and again and again, suffering over and over against powers with more strength and control than she can ever hope to have. She’s been fighting this whole time, fighting since she was born just for the right to exist and be herself.

So it’s no wonder that she just wants to stop.

It’s not just about stolen innocence and “ignorance is bliss”. It’s the world beating you down every time you try to climb back to your feet, it’s making you feel like every time you try to do the right thing you get punished for it, it’s the feeling that no matter what you do you will always lose. It’s the loss of control and the self-doubt and self-loathing.

Peachy is exhausted physically, emotionally, and mentally. She doesn’t see the point in rising anymore, doesn’t see the point in trying to overcome suffering when there will just be more waiting for her afterwards. What’s the point of continuing when everything just Hurts? Her drive has been crushed. It really feels like the only reason she’s still around is because of her friends. She doesn’t see any worth in herself anymore. Ira’s heading things well enough on her own, Django has Ira, Kell can take care of herself, Mars is a trained fighter, and Zone is...Zone. What does Peachy want? She just wants to stop hurting. She’s tired. She doesn’t feel like herself, doesn’t feel like her body belongs to her when it’s been used without her consent (and yes I am phrasing it that way on purpose). She doesn’t even know who Peachy or Lu are anymore. All she can see right now is Pain. And, fuck man, but her saying she wants to go back to the Wetlands...it’s really just...it really just feels like her saying:

“I want to go back before all of this. I wish I had never left the Wetlands. I wish I had never come to Splatsville. I wish none of this had ever happened.”

“I wish I was dead so that pain would stop. I wish I was dead so no one could hurt me. I wish I was dead so that I can’t hurt anyone else anymore. I wish I was dead so this could all go away.”

When you’re out of options, at the end of your rope, when you’re hopeless and hurting and exhausted, when you hate yourself and what you’re doing to others, when nothing ever goes right, when you feel like you will never be happy ever again...dying seems like the most peaceful option you can take. And poor Peachy just lay there in Django’s lap and told him she wanted to die. Not in those words, maybe. But she did. “What if it takes forever?” Fuck she doesn’t think she’s worth anything anymore. She doesn’t think she’s worth the effort her friends are putting in for her. She doesn’t like herself, doesn’t love who she is, so she can’t possibly see how anyone else could love her.

I know the goal is to take down the people that did all this but...that’s not what Peachy needs right now.

She doesn’t want revenge (right now, at least). She’s too tired to fight back. She’s too hurt. Peachy needs time. She needs somewhere quiet, she needs somewhere peaceful and safe, she needs space to heal. Running around and avoiding the authorities and hijacking airwaves is all well and good, more power to you, rise against and all that. But not Peachy, not right now, not for her. She’s sick in more ways than one. She’s kind and she wants to keep being kind, but the world hasn’t made it easy for her. Splatsville and the Wetlands aren’t for people who are kind. Peachy deserves somewhere peaceful and gentle.

And I’m not sure the others can see that. Django still seems like he’s looking up to her, like he’s put her on a pedestal he doesn’t even realize. He loves her, yes, he cares about her so damn much. But he sees a hero, someone who fought and keeps fighting. I’m not sure he’s considered that fighting is the last thing Peachy needs right now. Ira’s too caught up in her Rage Against the Machine plan to notice anything else. Peachy is her figurehead, her martyr, the Joan of Arc burning on the pyre that Ira can use to rally the world against the people who hurt them. She already can’t connect to others emotionally, she’s distanced herself from them far too much. She does care about Peachy, very much so, but not in the way that Peachy needs. And Mars is too timid and mindless to know any better. He’s followed rules and orders his whole life, he doesn’t know what to with himself, let alone the sister he’d abandoned and tried to kill. He was protected by the very system that ruined the only family he had and now he’s lost. He’s too busy trying to figure himself out to understand what Peachy is going through. I don’t think it’s crossed his mind that Peachy needs more than physical healing.

Has anyone really asked Peachy what she wants? Or is she just being dragged along because that’s what her friends want?

I feel like I’m having trouble articulating exactly what I mean,, Peachy might have been rescued and un-brainwashed, but it still feels like she doesn’t have any autonomy. She’s just being pulled around by other peoples’ whims again, even if those whims appear to be in her best interest. Her friends aren’t being malicious and I’m not accusing them of that, they love Peachy and want to take care of her. But they seem to have this grand idea with this image of Peachy as the rebellious poster child for everyone to rally around.

Peachy isn’t a person right now. Not to anyone, not even to herself.

It’s going to take more than overthrowing a corrupt and broken system to heal her.

I hope she gets the space and peace she needs to heal. She deserves the happiness she tried so hard to reach.
